Complex Organisms

Summary:

On a field trip to Gotham it is discovered that Danny Fenton is actually the long lost brother of Tim Drake AND Damian Wayne; Bruce has some explaining to do and new things to discover. Chapter 1: Discovery

Chapter Text

Danny had known he was adopted since he was about ten years old. His parents had told him on his birthday after all, he had even met his biological mother, a distant cousin of Maddie's. He had wanted to meet her but she had outright refused, he was her greatest shame after all, a child out of wedlock and from a ditzy playboy no less. It had been a rough year for him.

Vlad had only found out recently and he had taken it worse than Danny did. But then again, he'd never been the most mentally stable person Danny had ever met. Maybe he shouldn't have been surprised that Vlad's most recent completely unhinged plot to try and force him into becoming his son involved holding Danielle and Dan hostage and threatening to destabilize them entirely if Danny wouldn't become a family with him. Vlad seemed torn between hating Danny for not being Maddie's son and loving him for being the only other True Halfa in existence. Danny thought it was hypocritical of him to be angry about Danny being adopted when he was constantly trying to force adopt him himself.

In the end Vlad did destabilize them but Danny had gotten to them in time to be able to bring them to Frostbite for a chance to save them. The only way to save them had been to hold onto their cores inside himself until their human bodies could 'reform'. The dysphoria the 'pregnancy' had caused him was insane . Luckily he hadn't actually needed to give birth naturally and they were able to just phase out of him, unluckily the whole process had turned them into actual babies and Danny had finally had to just confess to his parents everything . If only to assure himself that his children would be safe with them.

Jack and Maddie had been sickened, infuriated, and distraught but not for the reasons Danny had originally thought they would be. Vlad was officially on their vivisection list, but on the bright side they had fully accepted Danny and the newly 'born' twins Danielle and Danior. They had also begun reworking their ghost theories and working towards getting the anti-ecto acts abolished by bringing to light some "new discoveries". Unfortunately they had also gotten extremely overprotective of him.

They had gotten all the paperwork and legal finagling done to claim that Dani and Dan were Jazz and Danny's siblings to avoid any uncomfortable questions for Danny. But it was pretty much an open secret in town that Danny had gone missing for a good few months quite suddenly and upon his return he suddenly had new twin siblings. Nobody said anything about it though, Amity was very good with open secrets after all.

This all coalesced into Danny's most recent situation however, with Danny bouncing his leg in agitation in a cafe in a Gotham museum with a cup of coffee in hand. Valarie, Sam, and Tucker sat at the table with him. Star, Paulina, Kwan, and Dash were sitting at a table not all that far away and Wes had managed to pull Mikey into sitting at the table closest to the Ghost Group without being too obviously creepy about it.

"Looks like Fenturd is still panicking about leaving the brats behind." Dash sighed in agitation.

"Well, I mean, it is his first time away from them since they were born I'm pretty sure. That's like a huge step for anyone." Star remarked taking multiple pictures of her frappe.

"Can you blame him for freaking out? He left them with his parents , yeah Jazz is there but that's still like, two against one!" Kwan also commented.

"I don't know how his parents still have custody of him let alone the munchkins." Paulina remarked in a lower voice a bit of disdain on her beautiful features. "Just pray those nuthouse rejects don't do anything to fuck up or he's going to flatten the Midwest."

"Fentonio wouldn't flatten the Midwest, he's too much of a pushover." Dash scoffed dismissively.

"Just because he lets you wail on him in that stupid weird macho game you two play doesn't mean he's a pushover." Paulina said flatly.

"I stopped okay! I just didn't want him to think I didn't see him as a man ! It's complicated !" Dash protested.

"It's really not . You just suck at processing your own feelings and didn't want to accept you had a crush." Star snorted with amusement, finally putting her phone away so that she could actually drink her coffee monstrosity.

"I did not ! That's a huge lie!" Dash protested loud enough that the other tables looked over at him. He flushed and lowered his voice again. "I did not have a crush on that dweeb."

"Woof, buddy...if I knew you did that cause of a crush I would have told you to stop it. Wow, you totally bombed any chance you might have had." Kwan couldn't help but laugh at him.

"Shut up! It's nothing like that! You're all assholes !" Dash hissed defensively.

"Yeah, okay Dash. Whatever." Paulina snorted, rolling her eyes heavily at him.

"Alright class, let's continue the tour!" Mr. Lancer announced with confidence. The kids sighed but still got up to follow their teacher.

"This is so much more boring than I thought it would be. What happened to the violent rogues we were promised?" Kwan couldn't help but lament as they walked through the exhibits.

"Why do you even care? You got assigned Mad Hatter and there's no way that's happening anyway." Paulina remarked with a smirk.

"Ugh, no fair. How come I didn't get one of the bigger ones?" Kwan pouted.

"Luck of the draw friendo!" Dash laughed.

"You're just saying that cause you drew Killer Croc." Kwan complained.

"Suck it up Complainy-Pants, we all have to do our part to keep the Ghost Gang from an accidental murder wrap while we're here. Lancer's giving us all in house suspension if we slip up and let even one of them handle a human on this trip." Star reminded him with a jab to his ribs.

It was a whole hour before anything happened after that. They had already been in the main lobby to wrap up their majorly uninteresting museum trip when the windows locked down and goons rushed in, all dressed in green with question marks all over. Star felt a thrill and her eyes flashed as she got hyped. The Riddler strutted in with tremendous confidence.

"Well hello there kiddos! We're gonna play a game together! To welcome you into Gotham of course." The Riddler announced; he was a little surprised when all but four of the people present all looked simultaneously at a petite blond girl who was staring him down like an animal. "Uh."

"Hold please~" Star spoke delightedly and handed her purse to Paulina who took the offered item with a prideful smirk.

"Get his ass baby!" Paulina cooed adoringly.

"I got a game we can play!" Star cheered, she moved faster than anyone actually saw. Before any of the goons could take action and before Riddler could dodge she grabbed him by the throat and slammed him into the tile floors. "How about a game of Pink Belly?!"

" Aaah !" It was not a good day for Riddler or his goons. He'd never flashed back to high school so fast in his life .

By the time Signal got to the museum to break up the commotion Riddler was the one in need of rescue. There had only been about six goons and the kids had hog tied them and thrown them off to the side while they somehow managed to hang Riddler off the ceiling and had been using him as a pinata. Two of the bigger guys would tug on the rope while a blindfolded blond girl took swings at him with her bare fists and cackled when she landed a punch. Riddler was crying.

"Wow, what did Riddler do to Star? I've never seen her so personally vindictive against someone." Danny couldn't help but remark.

"Probably his outfit, it is a complete eyesore and that's coming from me dude." Tucker remarked.

"You guys are idiots." Sam sighed rolling her eyes, Valarie shook her head fondly but clearly agreed with Sam.

"Uh, okay guys. Break it up. I gotta get these guys to the cops." Signal managed to get himself together and try to get things back under control.

Signal did not miss the kid that looked like a twiggy teen version of Bruce Wayne despite his lack of reaction to him. He could just be a doppelganger, but better safe than sorry. The kids were clearly disappointed by Signal's interference as most of them groaned loudly and complained but they did listen to him and released the villains into Signal's custody.

" Lame ." Mikey complained. "I was hoping for more teeth, I had a project idea."

"You're weird art project is creepy , stop collecting teeth Mikey." Wes hissed.

"You're one to talk, Mr. Collage-Of-My-Crush." Mikey scoffed, rolling his eyes. Wes flushed and punched him in the arm.

"It's a conspiracy board! Conspiracy !!" Wes snapped at him.

"Yeah, sure it is." Mikey muttered.

Chapter 2: Family Chat

Summary:

The Batfamily chat is LIT tonight.

Notes:

Firefly: Duke Thomas
CaffeineCraze: Tim Drake
WalkingDead: Jason Todd
SwanLake: Cass Cain
Baddest: Stephanie Brown
TrueBlood: Damian Wayne

Chapter Text

It started with a text, a joke .

Firefly: Hey Tim, found your AU younger self (picture)

CaffeineCraze: Holy shit, it's way too early for this.

WalkingDead: Looks like Replacement’s got his own clone for once.

SwanLake: Cute lil bb~

Baddest: Hah! He's so cute! He looks like if someone put Tim and Bruce in a pokemon fusion generator

CaffeineCraze: He does not! He looks nothing like me! Or Bruce!

TrueBlood: Drake is right, that boy looks nothing like Father, though he does seem to share some features with Drake.

Firefly: This is crazy, his whole class is crazy. You should have seen what they did to Riddler. I know I'm supposed to be 'mad' or whatever but this was the highlight of my month and I will keep this memory forever. (picture x4)

Baddest: Hahaha!! Look at him cry!! XD

Firefly: These kids are feral, I'm tempted to just let them handle any rogues that come along themselves.

WalkingDead: Do Not. Riddlers a pussy but these are still kids in way over their heads. There's worse assholes out there.
Firefly: I wouldn't! I'm just sayin it's tempting.

As much as Tim wished he could just dismiss all similarities and chalk it up to coincidence Tim was a bat , there was no way that was happening. So of course the rest of Tim's entire afternoon and night was dedicated to getting anything and everything that he could on Daniel Fenton. Which led to a new host of problems that he discovered. Danny Fenton's parents were clearly mad scientists, but they were employed by the government who had apparently created an entire branch dedicated to supernatural genocide. Ghosts were annoying but these anti-ecto acts were entirely repulsive!

The only positive was that the Fentons had recently made some sort of pivot in their research and seemed to realize that ghosts were literally only sentience. There were a lot of concerning reports about them but nothing that was officially on file. Which could mean they either had big connections or just weren't malicious. Things got complicated the deeper that Tim dug. He was in such a rabbit hole about it that when the DNA swab he got off of Danny's discarded coffee cup finished processing he almost jumped out of his skin.

Reading the results had him once again regretting that his parents were dead because he would have loved to absolutely ream them for this. Apparently not only was Danny his younger brother, but he was his half brother, his father being Bruce Wayne. Bruce had not only fucked his mother apparently, but had knocked her up! So he had to dig up that bullshit too now!

"BRUCE FUCKING WAYNE DID YOU FUCK MY MOM?!" Okay so Tim could have been a little nicer about it. But he was running on four days of no sleep, three cups of coffee, and the discovery of an earth-shattering secret.

Chapter 3: Home Again

Summary:

Danny returns, as do his problems.

Chapter Text

The Casper High class returned home and to routine leaving chaos in their wake and with Mikey a few Joker Teeth richer. Everyone was actually much happier to return than they thought they would be. Like having returned from a far too long and tedious voyage despite the trip only having taken three days. Danny was probably the happiest to return really. Relieved and joyous to see his tiny clone-children healthy and excited to greet him.

"Dada!" Two shrill ecstatic cries greeted him upon opening the door.

They hadn't quite gotten walking down, flying at him instead. He scooped them from the air and hugged the toddlers tightly. At last he felt his core settle a cold, content joy singing through him. He kissed each of their cheeks obnoxiously just to make them giggle.

"Hi babies! Did you have fun with Nana, Grampy, and Auntie Jazz?" Danny asked.

"Yes! We colored and learn shapes-" Dani started.

"I can count four!" Danior interjected, though Dani hadn't paused at all and the two began to babble over each other.

Reforming and stabilization had caused their minds to regress to their physical age. Though they were fairly intelligent for toddlers, they also had the emotional and mental maturity of toddlers and had retained only the barest and vaguest sense of their original memories. Many of them fading and slipping away like long forgotten dreams.

Only echoes of the emotions of those memories remained and were gradually overwritten by their newer happier memories. Danny was both relieved and a little pained that only he would keep their shared memories but he was happy and grateful for them to continue existing and to make new happier memories with them.

"Welcome home little brother." Jazz greeted him with a loving smile and the steady calm he was used to from her. His core again hummed with happiness at the sight of her.

"Hey Jazz, hope the Terrors didn't cause you too much trouble." Danny joked with a grin as the twins calmed down a little and beamed at Jazz.

"If anything our parents were the ones causing trouble," Jazz rolled her eyes a little in exasperated fondness. "But they were oddly helpful this time. They even skipped out on hunting down a ghost to take the twins to play in the park. I'd say this is remarkable progress!"

"Really!? Wow, that's actually amazing." Danny said with a happy grin.

"We saw a squirrel!" Dani interjected.

"It didn't let us pet it." Danior huffed, clearly annoyed.

"Dan, we don't touch wild animals, they might be sick." Jazz scolded lightly. Danior huffed again, this time crossing his arms.

"Are they-" Danny was interrupted as Jack sprinted into the room with a tray of fudge in hand, Maddie was just a couple steps behind a happy grin on her face carrying a tray of cups of milk.

"Dann-O! Welcome home son! We made fudge!" Jack showed him, clearly delighted to see him.

"Welcome home Danny, did you have fun on your trip? I think some of your ghost friends missed you." Maddie joked with a little chuckle. Danny grinned a cool refreshing joy filling his core.

"It was actually pretty boring for a Gotham trip," Danny admitted as they all sat down in the living room and divied up the fudge and milk. "I thought it would be more stressful but only two rogues attacked us and Star and Mikey handled it just fine without me needing to even step in at all."

"Well that's great honey! That means the self defense classes that the school mandated are working." Maddie said, quite pleased with the results.

"Maybe they'll even get strong enough to fight ghosts!" Jack offered optimistically.

"Aaah, I think I'd feel better if it was still me and my team handling the ghosts. They can get a bit overzealous and I don't want any accidents." Danny denied, clearly concerned about the idea of his more squishy classmates confronting ghosts that got too rambunctious or were an actual threat.

"Don't worry so much Danny, things are calming down so we can all work towards better understanding." Jazz reasoned.

"I hope so." Danny sighed.

The afternoon was pleasant and peaceful. The night was calm and serene for the first time in what felt like years. So of course his night stargazing and watching over his town was interrupted by the worst person possible.

" Vlad ." Danny greeted flatly green eyes sharp and disdainful as he looked at the much older man.

"Daniel," Vlad greeted him in a much more pleasant tone. "Still playing house with those failures and humans I see."

"Do not talk about my children that way you fruitcake." Danny hissed defensively.

" Our children you mean. They are half of me after all." Vlad taunted.

"That's your fault not theirs creep-o." Danny sneered. Vlad sighed deeply, as though greatly inconvenienced.

"Oh Daniel, if I allow you to keep those disturbing little creatures will you at last come to me?" Vlad said as though making some grand self-sacrificing gesture for Danny's sake.

"Vlad I would rather be torn apart molecule by molecule than ever live with you ." Danny told him firmly. Vlad's eyes flashed red and he bore his teeth before calming again.

"Daniel, you will soon come to realize that only I can truly understand you. You and I are special , with my guidance you could be something truly marvelous." Vlad spoke as though he were explaining something simple to a child. "Some day soon you will come to realize that you belong with me ."

"...Stars dude, how do you sound creepier and creepier every time we meet?" Danny asked, genuinely baffled by how unsettlingly creepy Vald was being. Vlad hissed at him and his hands lit up in a bright pink glow.

"Daniel, if you do not join with me willingly then I will simply take you by force ." Vlad snarled, his patience clearly having run out.

Danny tensed and readied himself to fight the older man off, but a sudden blast of green knocked Vlad from the sky with a shriek. The second blast was fast and relentless as Vlad's ghost form was peeled off and he was forced back into his human form.

"Get away from my little brother you beast!" Jazz's voice drew Danny from his shock and caused him to look over at her suited form.

"Jazz!?" Danny was actually shocked to see her, he also didn't realize how good she'd gotten with the Fenton Peeler.

"Jasmine!" Vlad hissed angrily at her his eyes flashing again.

Jazz just lifted the gun and peeled him again causing him to shriek in agony as he was forced back into his ghost form but with far less ectoplasm. She readied the gun again and Vlad was forced to flee to keep his remaining existence. Jazz looked over at her brother's eyes glowing with concern.

"Are you alright?" Jazz asked running over to inspect Danny's spectral form for harm.

"I'm fine Jazz, how did you even know I was here?" Danny asked, baffled.

"I felt your distress. I always know when you're distressed." Jazz explained a little sheepishly. Danny was taken aback by that, was Jazz's liminality growing stronger?

"You can feel that?" Danny asked, more confused than upset. Jazz nodded but frowned.

"His obsession with you is distorting." Jazz observed.

"...It's like after he found out I was adopted all his attention shifted to me. It almost feels like he's forgotten Mom even!" Danny said, the distress and confusion clear on his face. Jazz paused thoughtfully.

"It's almost like he believes that since you're adopted you don't have actual tangible ties to our family...does...does he believe he has a stronger chance of possessing you because you have 'no ties' to anyone?" Jazz was clearly struggling to understand the man's thought process.

"Who knows what that psycho thinks! He's wrong no matter what he's thinking!" Danny protested. Jazz smiled at him and pulled him into a hug.

"Yes, no matter his deranged thoughts you are not alone. Only he is, a fate he brought upon himself." Jazz said as Danny hugged her tightly in return.

Chapter 4: A Planned Approach

Summary:

Tim goes through his options.

Chapter Text

Tim Drake-Wayne normally had a lot of plans, a lot of irons in the fire. He always at least had some idea what to do. But with this he was at a loss; he wanted to get in contact with his half-brother. He was infinitely curious about him and his life. He had so many mixed feelings about his parents but this discovery was probably the one that caused him the most resentment towards them. They had never been great parents, but this was just utterly wretched of them. They should have at least told him about his brother's existence.

Unfortunately Tim couldn't exactly confront his parents anymore so he would need to just take a breath and move on no matter how angry he was with them. He had reached a new crossroads to deal with and had new decisions to make. The way he saw it he had three options;

  1. He could let all of this go and let Danny continue his life without any disruption or uprooting.
  2. He could seek out the Fenton family as a whole to get to know all of them as his newly discovered distant relatives and feign ignorance of Danny's origins until he was told on the Fenton's terms.
  3. He could gather together all of the paperwork for Danny's closed adoption and request to meet Danny directly.

If Tim decided on option 2 or 3 he was not bringing Bruce as he was still quite angry with him. He already knew that Bruce had no idea about Danny's existence and definitely had no hand in putting him up for adoption, but he had never told Tim that he had...had relations with his mother and though it was ages ago and that really isn't the kind of secret you tell the kid you adopted, it still pissed him off. Bruce would have to go on his own and explain how he found out by himself without Tim as a buffer.

Tim was a little torn on bringing Damian along; while Damian had gotten much calmer over the years and was much more reasonable and accepting of having siblings this was still a potentially massive change in their lives. There was also the strange and shoddy details that Tim had managed to scrounge up. Amity Park seemed oddly isolated for no discernable reason which made it very suspicious. Danny had seemed healthy if homesick while in Gotham which meant he couldn't be too unhappy with his home life, but Tim was concerned by the lack of information.

On top of the lack of information was the strange overprotectiveness that his classmates subconsciously seemed to have over him. They interacted with him in mostly normal ways for the most part, but any time that things got potentially dangerous their ranks seemed to almost close around him, preventing him from being anywhere near any actual danger. The whole class also seemed to keep him in their sights at all times without making it obvious or being outwardly overbearing about it, not that Danny himself seemed to actually notice it.

Things clearly seemed complicated and he suspected whatever nameless organization was preventing information from getting out of Amity Park. Tim sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, sitting back in his chair as he considered his options again. He knew that if he approached Danny as his brother he would end up bringing Bruce...as angry as he was it really wasn't fair to leave him to ineptly flounder on his own considering his social incompetence. Especially since he would be bringing Damian. It would be way easier and far less likely to end in an incident or a cease and desist order to just leave them both behind and go on his own, but that was a bit too cruel.

"I guess I have some paperwork to dig up." Tim sighed heavily.

Chapter 5: The Blood Feud

Summary:

The Wayne Family (partially) appears at last. The Blood Feud shall extend to the End of the Infinite!!

Chapter Text

Danny liked to think that he was an honest guy. So he would admit out loud if asked he really hadn't even considered that he might have more siblings than just Jazz. He would also admit a little guiltily that he hadn't even considered trying to figure out who his biological father was after the whole debacle with his biological mother and his having tried to reach out to her. Considering Bruce Wayne and his sons Damian Wayne and Timothy Drake-Wayne were currently seated across from him at his kitchen table he really kind of wished he had.

Despite the clear and composed front Bruce put up, the poor guy and at least Tim felt almost distraught about only recently finding out; Damian actually seemed to be the most put together and reasonable. The emotions he was broadcasting were at least a lot less complex. His parents were radiating their own complex emotions, but Jazz was a rock as she usually was more steadfast and sure of her own thoughts and emotions it seemed. She was cautious and hopeful, ever the optimist.

Danny was just glad that Sam and Tucker were so on board to take the twins out of the house so they could sort their shit out of sight. He really didn't want to upset them if things somehow got ugly. This was the first time he was meeting these guys after all. He was a little confused that they hadn't brought all of Bruce's children, but they probably wanted to keep things from getting too chaotic.

"Okay so, I'll ignore how weird it is that you saw a picture of me and picked up my trash for a DNA swab almost immediately," Danny offered them a flat stare, Tim flinched, outing himself as the culprit immediately.

"Sorry, we'd had problems with...surprise relatives before and...well my relationship with my parents had never been particularly good." Tim admitted, Danny could only offer a somewhat strained nod. "While finding out I had a brother was a bit shocking, it wasn't as shocking as it probably should have been."

"That bad huh." Danny winced a little, he couldn't imagine a familial relationship so bad, even when his parents were essentially hunting him they still loved his human form and did their best by him.

"I was not informed at all of the pregnancy and your subsequent birth. I would have liked to be a part of your life if I had known." Bruce made his own thoughts known. Maddie and Jack both tensed uncertainly and tried their best to not look as wary of Bruce as they were. "I don't want to just force my way into your life or uproot your entire life. I just would like the chance to get to know you and become a part of it."

"...I am...somewhat ambivalent about how we will fit into each other's lives and what kind of relationship I would like to have with you. Especially given you already have a family of your own and are clearly not in need of ours." Damian explained his own thoughts despite the disapproving look Bruce tried to contain. Danny on the other hand smiled and appreciated the honesty.

"Yeah, this is kind of a bit much. Honestly I didn't even think my biological father would actually want contact considering Janet's stance and her only explanation of you being an irresponsible philanderer ." Danny was clearly quoting with the last bit.

"Yeah, she would say something like that." Tim struggled not to laugh, a small grin at Bruce's expense on his face. Bruce looked visibly pained at the description and Damian somewhat offended but understanding.

"We had asked cousin Jan about it multiple times but she was really tight lipped about you," Jack admitted kinda loudly shrugging with his entire body.

"It was an understandably touchy subject though, given that technically Danny was the result of an affair. Cousin Jack and Janet were quite strained with each other the entire pregnancy." Maddie continued for him.

"I don't really remember any of it, it was too early in my own formative years." Jazz admitted.

"Oh our Jazzerincess was so excited to have a younger sibling! We have pictures! Poor cousin Jan was so uncomfortable but I'll give her points for not being mean about how excited our Jazzy-bear was." Jack gushed a big happy grin on his face.

"I had been a bit concerned about her mental state and that she might lash out but she'd been oddly good-natured about Jazz's excitement, I think she saw it as a guarantee that we wouldn't back out of taking Danny on." Maddie sighed, shaking her head.

"Not that we would have! We were pretty excited about our boy!" Jack remarked slapping Danny's back hard enough for it to be loud but Danny only swaying a little and laughing.

The conversation was interrupted by a short 8-bit song which Danny was clearly alarmed by. He pulled his phone from his pocket quickly and picked it up.

"Hey guys what's up?" Danny asked, his tone a little anxious. Maddie, Jack, and Jazz looked at each other tensely, especially when Danny growled his eyes flashing green. "He did what?! I'm going to skin him! You tell him that I'm coming to skin him! No, absolutely not. Put me on speaker."

There was a short pause while the muffled voice on the line spoke and then Danny hissed.

"Listen to me you cheap Halloween Nosferatu knockoff, if you come near my children again I'm going to rip you apart molecule by molecule! No! Shut up ! They're mine and you are going to end up in the center of a fudging black hole if you keep this spit up!" Danny censored himself instinctively it seemed.

"He's appeared!?" Jack shouted, jumping up from the table and sprinting further into the house.

"Quick before he escapes! Get the Peeler!" Maddie shouts chasing after her husband a giddy sort of wrath to her entire frame.

Jazz and Danny both smacked their foreheads and sighed as their parents practically smashed the door down lugging weapons over their shoulders. Jazz sighed very put upon as she got up and lifted the door just jamming it back into place.

"You better scram Count Cheesehead, my parents won't get convicted for anything they do to you." Danny remarked flatly before waiting a few moments and rolling his eyes at whatever was said. "Did you manage to tag him? Good, I'll call in that favor from Wulf, he's not escaping jail time again."

"I'm so sorry about all that. There's been a bit of an...ongoing custody dispute." Jazz offered kindly to the baffled and concerned Wayne family.

"The dispute is that he has no legal grounds! I carried them, they're mine !" Danny snarled, eyes flashing again. The Wayne's clearly tried not to show how tense they were and how they subtly glanced at each other.

"Carried? The legal records indicated that you only had younger siblings." Tim pried a little, Jazz and Danny shared a look before Danny sighed.

"At first when I finally rescued them from that butthole and got the guts to show my parents...we tried to pass the twins off as our younger siblings but Dani and Dan didn't seem to understand the change very well and kept calling me Daddy. The whole town basically knows I was dealing with a lot for a while and they're nice enough not to say anything but..." Danny seemed uncomfortable admitting what was going on, but he was mostly honest and forthcoming so none of them had the heart to pry too hard for the moment.

"You said 'rescued'? Was there some sort of dispute going on with the other parent? Are you in need of legal help?" Bruce asked, his face freely showing a deep concern. "Maybe I can help you."

"Things are a bit more complicated than just a legal dispute. The real issue is that he's got power behind him and no one strong enough to fight him willingly. Well, no one except our family. It's become a blood feud at this point and will be carried well into the grave ." Jazz informed them, straightforward and dire . "It's best you not get involved for the sake of your own family. It's perfectly acceptable for you to get to know Danny and his children but if you can avoid it do not get involved with Vlad Masters. I understand you are affiliated with Batman, this does not prepare you for what Vlad Masters is capable of. Do not underestimate him and overestimate yourselves."

Bruce tensed a little locking eyes with Jazz Fenton as he realized that she saw him, saw right through every bit of him with those piercing teal eyes. She clearly knew, though she seemed to be allowing him time to reveal his own secrets by his own choice. There was a moment that tacit understanding passed between them.

" Jazz !" Danny protested, clearly having been trying to avoid the actual name they had been seeking.

"Danny, you know him better than anyone. His obsessive behavior is so manic and desperate lately he would reveal himself soon enough anyway. They must have at least some preparation." Jazz spoke sharply to him for a moment before softening as his shoulders slumped and Jazz leaned over to kiss his forehead. "This too I do for you. I know it would shatter you if he hurt them..."

"I wouldn't." Danny denied pursing his lips. Danny knew she was right though, if they were really going to just show up out of the blue and insert themselves into his life they were painting a massive target on their backs without even knowing it. "We need to get some deflectors."

"I had some prepared for them." Jazz told him with a smile. She stood up and went to the sink.

"Vlad Masters is a danger and will likely send ghosts to hunt you down. To try and harm you or destroy your lives if you decide to get involved with us." Danny told them bluntly.

"Ghosts?" Tim asked, alarmed. "Does he have a way to make them dangerous?"

"I thought ghosts were incapable of interacting with the material plane. Is he a sorcerer of some kind?" Damian asked, his eyebrows furrowing.

"Ghosts?" Bruce asked with an exaggerated alarm. Danny gave him the flattest look he'd gotten since Jason was a kid.

"Ghosts that are generally low on ectoplasm won't have much strength or presence. But ghosts from the Infinite Realms are powerful enough to not only affect the physical world but to cause catastrophic disaster if provoked." Jazz offered patiently as she came back and placed a box full of strange white and green metal belts on the table. There were enough for all of them, even Alfred.
