Chapter Text

I groan as the bell for the last period finally rings. My best friend Alexander and I are going to sneak into my neighbor's yard to steal their cat. We know we might be in the wrong here, but we cannot stand how they were treating that feline.

We have not yet told anybody, but they keep leaving her out for days on end, without even the most basic of necessities, like food and water, leaving her to fend for herself.

We have been leaving food and water out, but that isn't an option anymore. 'Why's that?' Some may ask, and we will tell you why. She became pregnant. Her owners haven't seemed to notice yet, given that they don't even know if she's even alive, but it is only a matter of time before that changes.

Me and Alexander had a plan. We would sneak into their backyard while we were having a sleepover/camping in my backyard, Find the cat, and run back. Simple, right? Wrong.

We didn't know that our neighbor owned guns. Or that they are, apparently, very paranoid people. This is how we ended up in the middle of the forest, carrying a very pregnant cat while also hiding from some psychos with shotguns.

"We gotta run to my yard," Alex said quietly, now crouch walking in a random direction.

"But we have no idea where we even are..." I whispered back, a worried expression overtaking my face at the thought of those crazy people finding us.

Alex's expression hardens as he glares ahead, saying" I know this forest better than anyone. Even if some nutheads live nearby doesn't change the fact that I know where everything at, every tree, every mouse, Hell, even every blade of grass. I know where we are, and I can get us there." He reassures me. As I opened my mouth once again, a quiet meow interrupted my thoughts. I look down at the cat in my hands.

She was a long-haired cat with black fur, along with a little white smear on her chest. If she was in the right lighting, her fur would glow a brown hue. I frown at how light she feels in my hands.

I nod and slowly follow my equally slow friend. We walked as fast as we could while being as quiet as possible, keeping our ears open for the sound of footsteps. We spent almost half an hour like this, slowly finding our way to his house.

"When will we get-" Alex slaps his hand over my mouth, looking around, Eyes blown wide with panic. I gave him a questioning look before he threw his other arm around my head looking panic-stricken at whatever he saw behind him.

He tensed whenever I tried to move, more or less keeping me in place, but then I started to wonder, shouldn't we be working our way to his house? Why did he stop? Then I heard something behind him that made my heart drop, and my eyes widen in fear.

There was a thing cackling behind my friend, but he was grabbing me in such a way that I couldn't see what it was even if I tried. I held the cat closer, causing her to hiss slightly, causing the thing to stop its witch cackles.

It walked closer, and grabbed Alex by the back of his shirt, lifting him with little to no effort. He tried to stay wrapped around my face, but even with the help of one of my arms, he eventually had to let go, ripping my shirt in the process.

He let out a whimper of fear, any other noise seeming impossible to make with how scared he must have felt. I on the other hand am finally able to see what he was hiding from me for those few seconds. It was a tall, lanky white human, like pure white.

Its mouth was massive with long sharp teeth, each being at least 5 inches long, tongue being easily double the size of even the longest tooth . I also see that they are not wearing any clothes, but it wouldn't have mattered anyways, mostly because of their lack of, um, well, everything.

From eyes to ears to looking like they are wearing a white full body rubber glove, with the mouth area being the only entrance or exit. It then snatched me up into its massive claws. Alex had started to struggle in its other hand, and then it started to squeeze.

Tighter...

And tighter...

And tighter...

So tight I could feel My bones crunch. From My rib bones to my arm bones, And even the bones of the feline that I had clutched carefully in my arms to protect only mere moments ago, only to have trapped it in a painful death. Those who say death like this is quick had lied, What had to have originally ended in mere seconds had easily felt like hours upon hours of this painful crushing of bones.

Tears fill my eyes, and whether it is because of the pain that I unintentionally caused this poor feline or the pain coursing through my body, (hell, it might even be both) I shall never know.

My eyelids began to get heavy, they closed so slowly, And I was barely able to make out the familiar figure of my neighbor walking towards us.

It felt like a long, long time before I was able to open my eyes, and even when I did it was still so dark. Then, a screen popped up in front of me, causing me to jump back.

SCANNING COMPLETE!

DEATH: CRUSHED BY DEMON-VENOM HYBRID

WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?

WENT TO RESCUE CAT WITH A FRIEND, ONLY TO CATCH VENOM HYBRID MASTER'S ATTENTION, CAUSING THEM TO SEND OUT REGULAR HUMAN DEMONS TO TRY TO KILL THEM< BUT FAILED THEN SENT HIS FAVORITE PET.

HOW TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING?

HELP DEMON SLAYERS TO ERADICATE THE FULL-BLOODED DEMONS OF THE PAST, SO FEWER REMAINS ARE SALVAGEABLE.

SEND THE BRATS BACK INSIDE DEMON-EATING CATS TO SAVE THE WORLD.

Chapter Text

My head throbbed as I regained consciousness, only to groan at the loss of one of my favorite/funniest dreams. I faintly remember it having something to do with one of my friends asking me out with a ring pop. I grin sleepily at the pleasant dream before I remember a crucial detail. I don't remember falling asleep. 

The last thing I remember was carefully carrying the pregnant cat through the woods in hopes of helping the cat and her kittens, but anything after that is a blur. Like after one drinks too much alcohol, their friends suddenly have new blackmail to get them to buy them food. 

However, I get a bad feeling in my chest every time I try to remember the night before. I shrug it off, figuring I ask Alex instead. I smiled before nodding in approval at the plan before I started the adventure of waking up, only to open my eyes and freeze at my unfamiliar surroundings. 

Instead of either my or Alex's bedroom or hell, even his shed, It looked like I was dropped into the middle clearing surrounded by evergreen trees covered in at least an inch of snow. This isn't even CLOSE to the forest that surrounded my small rural town in Oregon. We only have a few types of trees, and almost none include Pine trees, let alone this many in a single area. 

Not to mention, There has never in all my life been this much snow. We would be lucky to get 3 inches!! 3. Inches. This is at least 2 feet of snow. I shake my head, deciding that it would be best to try to see that wherever I am if Alex is here too.

 I go to get up, only to fall face-first into the freezing snow, and after 1 or 2 more attempts, only to get similar results. Frustrated, I try to examine my body to see what the problem is, only to become slack-jawed at what greets me. 

I have fur, and what looks like 4 perfectly operational cat legs. 

The fur is black, so black that it seems to suck the color out of the things around it, except for a single white mark on my chest. My disbelief quickly became relief, which was quickly followed by confusion.

 I'm a cat, which means that I must be dreaming. My confusion was caused by a question. That question being If this is a dream, Why am I still dreaming? Didn't I just wake up?

Whatever. I must've fallen asleep in the forest then. Who knows, I might even be cuddling my best friend for life and Princess the Cat. I then decide to look around to see what else this dream has to offer. 

So I stand up, my legs wobbling more than they should, but not enough to stop me from exploring the area. I explored for a few minutes, before seeing something out of the corner of my eye. I turn my head, only to see a brown mass being buried in the snow. 

I wobbled over, trying to find out what the fuck it is, only to be tackled down into the snow. “WHAT THE HE-” I started to scream(even if no one understood me) when my attacker shoved their hand/paw over my mouth. ‘Now who do you think you are, trying to shut me up-’ My thoughts were interrupted by a blue screen appearing in front of my face.

I stared at the menu in disbelief. Why is there a screen? And, more importantly, ALEX CHANGED HIS NAME? Another screen popped up.

Name Change- Not everyone has the same name after rebirth, being forced to forget their previous name and forced to take a new one.

I smile triumphantly as I scan Matsu’s profile, before coming across the occupation and phobia part. ’Observe’ I think, really hoping this works.

Clan deputy- the 2nd in command of the clan. The one with this title has basically a dulled version of the ‘Clan Leader’ title. Only non-turned ones can have this title.

Tokophobia- The fear of childbirth or pregnancy. This can happen by a female who has not yet had a child being scared of the unknown, another way is caused by a traumatic event.

As soon as I finished reading, my head started to hurt. My eyes widened as past moments became clear. Terrifying white featureless faces. Long, sharp claws, and even longer teeth. I stood there shaking for a few moments before collapsing, causing my friend to run over, and nudged me worriedly, before curling around me protectively.

*2 hours later*

I woke up feeling hot and sweaty. I try to get up, only to find myself unable to move. I groggily open my eyes, trying to figure out why I can't move. 

After a quick scan of my surroundings and seeing that nothing had changed since I passed out, except for the fact that Matsu is now curled up around me, I checked with the system.

I squint my eyes in confusion before the system seems to notice and gives me a quick summary of the unknown occupations, plus the one I saw earlier but passed out before I could read it.

Sun Daze: It renders the affected immobile until they either get into the shade or until it gets dark. Only Demon cats can get this status effect, any other demonic species are less adaptable and die pathetically on the floor.

Pride leader: The most important Cat in the pride. The rest of the pride is overly protective of their leader, Much more than bees are of their queen. The leader usually doesn't leave their den. But in a rare situation when they have to, all others follow. 

Even if they somehow get separated, the leader's scent is easy to pick up for the cats. It sticks out in ways that can instinctually attract their attention, even if they for some reason didn't want to, they would have no choice in the matter. It is like when animals catch the scent of another in their territory, except they want to protect them no matter what.

One of the first: Is one of the first of the species. They can reproduce asexually, like random babies showing up in their stomachs without doing the thing. The only way to stop this is to be the more dominant partner in the relationship. 

However because they are the first, they are intersexual. Meaning they have both the girl and boy parts, and while they never fully lose either part, they can go dormant depending on their role in the relationship.

Demon cats: They are cats with demon-like abilities, but are also extremely adaptive. They can live for a long time, only dying after going a long time without food. 

They have also gotten to where they don't die when in the sun, instead just get extremely weak. If they are out in the sun for even 30 minutes you would think they were in the middle of the desert, even in the snowiest of climates. Fortunately, this only happens in sunlight, and not in artificial light or fires. 

An interesting thing about demon cats is that they can reproduce in 2 ways. One is the way regular animals do, and the other includes their venom. 

If their teeth or claws come in contact with human flesh, and they get deep their claws enough to draw blood, the moment an infected comes in contact with Muzan blood, instead of becoming a demon, they turn into a Demon cat. The venom will stay dormant unless it comes in contact with Muzan blood, even if the infected die before it does. 

If one is already a demon and for any reason the demon cat leaves them alone instead of eating them, they become a demon cat in a matter of hours. The venom will also weaken a demon significantly. 

Only ones born as Demon cats have the venom, unless they are ‘One of the first’. They have it all the demon cat's powers.

My head was spinning at the sudden flow of information. After a minute or two, I decided a nap might help. Right as I closed my eyes, I heard a twig snap at the edge of the clearing.

 My eyes snap open as I search for the source. I try to turn my head to check behind us, but even If I could move my head, Matsu’s huge furry body would be blocking the view. My ears twitch as I hear voices talking a little ways away from us. 

At the sound of them, My instincts scream at me to do something, but the most I can do is make a barely audible growl. I start to feel Matsu tense behind me, curling around me a little tighter as he growls at the approaching people. 

They stop, before inching closer towards us. Our growls only grew louder as we felt 2 pairs of hands grab us. Even though I wanted to run and hide in a borrow somewhere, my sun-dazed self couldn't even manage to walk 1 or 2 feet, much less get away from the hands that held me tightly. So, I succumbed to my fate of being cat-napped in hopes of escaping later, so for now I will take a nap until we reach our destination.

*1 hour later*

I woke up to Matsu shaking me. I lay there for a few seconds before I remembered that we were cat-napped. I shoot up, eyes quickly scanning the room. 

No one.

Only me, Matsu, and a slightly open door. I quickly waddle over, not quite awake enough to walk properly in my new body. I peek my head out, seeing a short hallway with a room right across the hallway with lights on.

I stand there for a minute before walking down the hallway, Matsu following close behind. We end up in what seems to be a bedroom, and with a glance around the room, I see at least 4 people sleeping on some sort of bedpad? Must be taking a nap. 

I walk to the slightly open window, before something grabs my tail. My head whips around and before I knew it I was tasting blood and hearing crying. My brain finally registers what happened and I realize that I bit a Toddler. 

I froze for a few seconds and that was what it took for one of the previously sleeping people to lunge at me. The next thing I know Matsu is hanging from their arm, eyes nearly only green with only a sliver of black in the center. 

Paws wrapped around their arm, claws keeping Matsu in place as he tried to keep the person away from me. Taking my chance, I release the child, quickly bolting out the window. Matsu followed close behind, hiding in the shadows for about 2 hours before we could escape into the mountains.
