“Y’know Linc, you’re kinda built like a tree.” Taylor blurted out, a mischievous grin on his face as he took another swig of his beer. Lincoln looked at him, faking a pout. “Says the one who can’t reach the top shelf.” He retorted, standing up and making his way to the kitchen to grab a white claw. The others made fun of him because he liked them, but he didn’t care.
“Fuck you, Linc! That was mean!”
“You say that now, but then you remember I have all the best snacks on my shelves, and you’ll need me to get them for you if you want any.” He teased, earning a huff from his shorter friend.
Lincoln, Scary, Normal and Taylor were all sophomores in college. Scary was at work at the local radio station, so he was stuck third wheeling a very Drunk Normal and Taylor. Well, it was more of babysitting to him. Norm was a pretty cuddly guy when he was drunk, and Taylor was even more of a hellion. He opened his drink, looking at the two. “You guys need some water. You’re going to be hungover to hell and back tomorrow, and I don’t wanna hear about it.” He said, grabbing water bottles and tossing them to the two, who were now cuddling on the couch. He rolled his eyes and put down his can, beginning to clean up the cans and bottles. “All right guys, go to your room. Bars closed.”
Norm groaned, pouting and looking at Lincoln. “C’mon, Linc! It’s only 10:30!” The curly haired boy whined, reaching for the half-empty bottle of Malibu Linc had taken and put back in the liquor cabinet. Normal ended up rolling off the couch, almost landing on the cat with a soft “oof” as he hit the carpeted ground. Taylor groaned and stood up, walking (it was more like stumbling) over to Linc. “Linc, please? Just a couple more drinks?”
“No, absolutely not.You guys are already lightweights and bitch and moan whenever I let you guys get fucking wasted.” He said, crossing his arms. He sighed and was about to reply, when his phone went off. He furrowed his brows and answered it. “Babe? Are you alright?”
“Linc, I-I need you to come get me. I passed out and they’re sending me home.”
“Hon, I can’t drive. I’ve been d-”
“Babe, they’re going to call an ambulance if you don’t come get me.”
That sobered Linc up real quick.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Linc and Scary came home a couple hours later, finding Taylor and Normal passed out on the floor after an obvious sex-capade. Scary rolled her eyes, making her way to their room to get pajamas on. Linc sighed and followed behind Scary, hugging her from behind. “So…you have to go back to the doctor later this week?”
“Yeah. Even though I don’t really want to.” She said, pulling her shirt off and placing on one of Linc’s shirts, along with some pajama pants. She flopped on bed. “Come cuddle with me.” She said, patting the bed next to her and smiling softly. Linc obliged, flopping onto the bed next to her.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Norm woke up the next day with a sore back, and a massive hangover. He sat up and groaned, rubbing his temples before getting off the floor to go shower. After he was done, he got dressed and went to make coffee. He sighed, looking over at his still passed out on the floor boyfriend, who was now sprawled out like a starfish. He chuckled softly. If anyone would've asked him 5 years ago where he'd be, he didn't think he'd be in his second year of a psychology degree, living with his best friends, and that he'd have a boyfriend. He took a drink of his coffee, checking his texts
Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
Linc and Scary sat in the doctors office waiting room, they couldn’t help but feel the awkward silence and silent judgment from the older women in the office. Linc gently squeezed Scary’s hand, giving her a reassuring smile.
“Don’t worry hon, It’ll be okay.” Linc said softly, giving her a soft kiss on the forehead. Scary gave him a small, nervous smile. “You promise?” she asked, receiving a nod from Linc.
“Theresa Marlowe-Stampler?” The nurse called, leading the two back to the room. Scary sat on the examination table, taking a deep shaky breath. The nurse started to take Scary’s vitals, humming softly. “So, before the doctor comes in, I wanna get some information for your file. When was your last period?” She asked, starting to put in some information. “Um, like…four months ago. I think.” She said, rubbing the back of her neck. The nurse nodded, putting that in. “And when was the last time you guys had unprotected sex?” She asked, looking up at the two of them. Linc cleared his throat, looking at Scary and squeezing her hand. “We haven’t. We use condoms.” She said, looking at Linc. The nurse nodded softly, and wrote that down before handing her a cup. “I need you to take a urine sample. Bathroom is right next door.” She said, smiling softly and leaving the room. Scary took another deep breath and went to the bathroom, coming back after a couple minutes.
Linc looked at her and smiled. “Who's Pissfoot Gumtoucher now?” He joked, trying to lighten the mood.
“Still you.”
“Oh.”
—----------------------------------------
After the appointment, the two made their way out to Linc's car, an old beat up sedan his dad had given him. Linc opened the door for Scary, before getting in himself. He took a deep breath and looked at her.
“So…you're pregnant.”
“That's correct, bud.”
“What're we going to do?” Linc asked, causing Scary to freeze. “Well, i-it's your choice, and no matter what you choose to do, I'll be here.”
“Well, I don't know yet. But I do wanna tell our parents.” She replied.
Linc rubbed the back of his neck, smiling nervously. “A-Are you sure? Terry kinda scares me, I'm going to be honest.” He said, clearing his throat.
Scary rolled her eyes. “Don't worry, it'll be fine.” She said, giving him a soft kiss. “Now, let's go get some food and then go talk to my parents. I want Sonic” She hummed as Linc started the car.
—-------------------------------------------
Vanessa and Terry never complained when Scary and Lincoln stopped by on short notice. They enjoyed it when the two stopped by. Linc made Scary so happy, and that made them happy.
But, something was off about their visit today. The two seemed nervous, fidgeting with their hands before looking at each other. Scary ushered them to the kitchen, taking a deep breath.
“Um, Linc and I have something to tell you guys.” Scary said, looking at her parents. Terry raised an eyebrow, letting out a soft hum. “You can tell us anything.” He replied, taking a drink of his tea.
Scary took another deep breath, before clearing her throat. “I’m pregnant. The doctor said I’m about three and a half months along.” She said, squeezing Lincoln’s very sweaty hand. Terry spit out his tea, blinking a few times. “I-huh-” He stammered out, his eyes wide. He stood up and walked over to the nervous couple, placing a hand on Linc’s shoulder in a firm grasp.
“So, Pissfoot Gumtoucher here got my daughter pregnant.”
“A-Actually, it takes two to tango-” Scary stammered out, putting up her hands in defense of her boyfriend, who was on the verge of an anxiety attack. “And it’s not like it's the end of the world if I’m pregnant right now. We have an apartment, both of us have good jobs, and this is a super common age for pregnancy.” She said, frowning. Terry glared daggers at Lincoln, before backing away and looking at the two of them. Veronica walked over to Scary, giving her a hug. “I’m happy for you guys. Don’t listen to him, Linc. He’s overdramatic. Theater kid in recovery.” She said, looking at Linc, and then at her husband.
Lincoln nodded softly, looking at Scary and giving her a weak, small smile. His knees felt weak because he was so nervous. He took a deep breath and shakily handed the ultrasound pictures to Terry. “W-we got a copy for you guys. The doctor said the baby is a little small but other than that, they’re okay.” He said, clearing his throat.
—----------------------------------------------------
They got home later that night with a bag of some of Scary’s old baby clothes and some baked goods Terry had made. Scary kicked her shoes off and made her way to the living room and plopping down on the couch.
“So…we’re gonna be parents. How’re you feeling about that, Linc?” She asked, ushering him over to sit by her. Linc kicked his shoes off and sat next to her, pulling her close. “I mean, I’m excited but really nervous at the same time. How about you?” He asked, giving her a soft kiss on the forehead.
“I dunno. Same emotions as you.” She said, leaning against him and moving a hand to her stomach. “I just realized we're probably going to have to get a bigger place.” She said, frowning softly and looking at Lincoln.

Normal fidgeted with the hem of the tunic he was wearing, looking around the very packed convention center. Taylor and him were wearing a couples costume that the two spent months on, Link and Zelda. He moved closer to Taylor, squeezing his hand as he did so.
“Norm? You okay?” Taylor asked, looking at him and tilting his head. He squeezed his hand in return, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek. Normal nodded softly. “Yeah, just a lot of people. And I don't wanna get separated from you.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck. Taylor nodded softly and gave him a soft kiss. “Don't worry, we won't get separated. And if you need to, we can step out for a minute.” He said, grinning.
—---------------------------------------------------------
After an hour, the two stepped out to the hallway, bags in hand. Normal sat down on the ground, taking a deep breath. “Sorry, it was just…a lot.” He said, biting his lip. Taylor smiled and sat next to him. “Don't worry about it. Can I give you a hug or do you need some space right now?”
“I need some space right now. Thank you for asking.” He said, fidgeting with the end of his hat. Norm cleared his throat as he looked through some of the stuff they had gotten. “Um, Taylor? What is this picture of?”
“Oh, it's this thing from Hamilton. It's Thomas Jefferson in a Hatsune Miku binder.” Taylor said, causing his boyfriend to blink a few times. Normal wished he could see what went through his head sometimes. Normal couldn't help but let out a soft snort at that, putting away the picture. He looked at Taylor and gave him a soft kiss. “Let's get some food. I'm hungry.”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------
After a couple more hours, the two made their way home. Normal made his way to their bedroom, taking off the costume and immediately getting changed. He took off his binder and slipped on an oversized hoodie and some shorts, stretching and heading out to the living room. He perked up when his phone went off.
“Hey Dad, what's up?”
“Hey kiddo, just wanted to call and see how you're doing. Plus, your Grandpa Henry is coming over for dinner tomorrow night, and your mother and I wanted to see if you and Taylor wanted to join us.” Sparrow said, humming slightly to himself. Normal thought for a moment, looking over at Taylor and blinking. “That sounds nice, we’ll be there. What time?” He asked, opening his calendar app and putting Sparrow on speaker.
“6:30. But you know your Grandpa Henry, he’ll probably be here at 6.” The man on the other side of the phone said, chuckling softly. Normal nodded softly, putting that in his calendar. “We may be a little late, I get out of class at 5:30, but we’ll be there.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Don’t worry about it, Norm. Also, let Taylor know his dad and grandpa are coming as well.”
“WHAT!” Taylor screeched, his head snapping up from his Lorcana cards.
—----------------------------------
“Alright, Tay, you ready?”
“No.” The shorter man muttered, crossing his arms. “Why did they come? I don’t get it.” He said, getting out of the car and huffing. Normal got out and grabbed the bottle of wine they brought, sighing lightly. “It’ll be okay, babe. Don’t worry about it. It’s a family dinner.”
“But they aren’t your family.” Taylor retorted, which caused Normal to roll his eyes.
When the two walked inside, they were met with the sound of conversations in the kitchen. Normal kicked his shoes off and walked into the kitchen, Taylor following behind like a kicked puppy. Sparrow looked over at the two, smiling wide. “Hey Norm, Hey Taylor! How are you guys doing?” He asked, tilting his head. Normal smiled and sat the bottle of wine on the counter, giving Sparrow an awkward side hug. “We’re doing good, busy with school.” He said, looking over at Nick and Lark. “Uh…so if you don't mind me asking, what are Nick and Glenn doing here?” He asked, tilting his head.
“Well, your uncle invited them. Him and Nick are dating s-”
“THEY'RE WHAT-” Taylor yelled, causing Normal to jump and cover his ears. Taylor stomped over to his dad, frowning. “You have a lot of nerve, y'know.” He sneered, a slight growl in his voice. Normal slinked away to his room, sitting on the bed and taking some breaths to calm down. Once he did regain his composure, he couldn't help but look around the room, smiling fondly at the memories.
—-----------------------------
Normal sighed as he took off his tux jacket, looking over at Taylor. “Um….c-can you look away while I'm changing, please?” He asked, which caused the other to raise an eyebrow but nod and look away.
Normal was out, but he was still so self conscious about his body. He finished getting changed, wearing his Teen High Cheer Team shirt and some flannel pajama pants. He sat on the bed and sighed. “You can look now.” He said.
Taylor said next to him, holding him close. “Y’know, you can take off your binder around me. It's not safe to wear it for a long time.” He said, planting a soft kiss on his cheek. Normal nodded. “I know, I just-”
“If you're worried about what I think, I think you're handsome no matter what.”

Linc and Scary walked through the furniture store, Scary sighed and looked at Linc. “I need to sit down. Who knew being pregnant would make me so fucking winded?” She joked, chuckling softly. The two walked over to a couch and took a seat, Scary letting out a soft sigh as she rested a hand on her stomach.
At this point in time, Scary was 7 months pregnant. Grant and Marco had insisted on throwing them a baby shower, so they were out making their registry. Linc rested a hand on Scary’s stomach, giving her a soft kiss. He smiled softly. “How's the little bean treating you today?” He asked, looking around. Scary hummed slightly. “Good. Bean isn't on my bladder anymore so that's good.” She said. chuckling softly
They sat for a couple more minutes, before going to the nursery section. Scary looked over the items, moving closer to Linc and leaning against his shoulder. She perked up and found a stuffed wolf, holding it up and looking at Linc. “This. This is something we're getting right now.” She said, holding the stuffed animal close and continuing to walk around.
—-------------
Scary opened the door to their apartment to find Grant, Terry Junior, Marco, and Veronica.
“Oh um…hey. How uh…did you get in here?” She asked, going to put the bag in the nursery. She opened the door to the nursery, freezing when she saw it was all set up. She looked around, then back at hers and Linc's parents.
“You didn't.” She said, starting to tear up as she walked over to the group. Veronica smiled, walking over to Scary and hugging her. “We did. I remember you talking about how you wanted the nursery set up, so we all decided to get it set up for you.” She said, which caused Scary to start crying.
Veronica held Scary close, rubbing her back. Veronica smiled softly and wiped Scary’s face. “Linc left a key under the mat for us, plus Normal and Taylor let us in. The ideas you gave us? We bought the stuff you wanted. Just as a little thing from all of us.”
“Mom, this isn't a little thing, this is huge. This must've cost a lot, I feel bad.” Scary stammered out, sniffling softly and looking at her mom. Lincoln came over and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “Sweetheart, you deserve it. You've been working so hard.” He said, earning a soft sniffle from Scary.
—---------
The day of the baby shower came quickly. Scary couldn't sleep the night before because she was so excited. Since their baby was due in December, they decided to have their baby shower in October and make it Halloween themed, Scary’s favorite holiday. She had gotten out of bed early and decided to get in the shower and get ready at about 8:30 after getting coffee (her doctor said she could drink a cup of coffee a day) and eating breakfast. Linc came down a couple minutes later, hugging Scary from behind and giving her a soft kiss on the forehead.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” Scary teased, earning a soft chuckle from Linc.
“You're up early.”
“Well, yeah. I'm excited. I wanted to get ready.”
“Are we still keeping the gender a secret? I don't know if I can keep the surprise much longer.” Linc asked as Scary turned around and looked at him.
“I mean, I'd like to. But if you want to tell someone we can.” Scary replied, taking a sip of her coffee and humming softly. Linc thought for a minute, before moving to rest a hand on Scary’s stomach. He knelt down and smiled, planting a soft kiss on her stomach.
“I think we should keep it a secret. Just you and me know about him, and it's nice.” He said as he felt a soft kick against his hand. “Just you, me, and Jerry.”
—--------
As the two walked into the venue, Linc fidgeted with the sweat band on his head as he looked around. Scary smiled softly as she looked around, walking over to her mom.
“Mom, this is amazing. Thank you.” She said, as Veronica turned around and smiled wide. “I'm still surprised you like that movie so much. The first time I watched it I bawled like a baby.” She said, hugging Scary. Scary chuckled softly and looked at Linc. “Linc cried when he watched it for the first time. But since I got pregnant I can't watch it without crying.” Scary replied, smiling softly. “Where's TJ?”
“He went to pick up the cake and cupcakes. He'll be back soon.” Veronica replied, humming slightly as she finished up with the decorations. “Now you, go sit down. You aren't doing anything today.” She said, leading Scary over to a chair and helping her sit down.
—------------------
The shower itself flew by in a flash. There were a couple times when Scary laughed so hard, Linc was afraid she'd go into labor. When they got home that night, Scary kicked off her shoes and sighed, gently rubbing her stomach.
She had been having some pain for the past two hours, but brushed it off as Braxton hicks. She went to go get pajamas on, stretching a bit. Once she had gotten changed, she moved out to the living room and sat on the couch, putting on NCIS.
Lincoln plopped down next to her and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek, frowning at the pained expression on her face.
“Hon? Are you okay?”
“Um… I think so. I'm just having some contractions.” Scary replied, taking a deep breath. Linc frowned, sitting up slightly. “Do you think we should go to the hospital? Just in case?”
“Linc, I'm okay. I just need to rest.”
Chapter 5: Chapter 5
Chapter Text
Scary woke up the next morning at 3:30 to a sharp pain in her stomach. She groaned and sat up, running her stomach. “Linc. Lincoln, wake up. I think I'm in labor.” She said, shaking Lincoln awake.
Lincoln sat up, rubbing his eyes. “W-What? A-Are you-”
“Yes, I'm sure.” She said, getting out of bed and taking a deep breath. “Shit. Linc, c-call my mom. Or Terry.” She said, taking a deep breath and going to go get her shoes on. Linc stumbled out of bed and followed her, pulling on a t-shirt on and grabbing their phones and bags. Scary went to say something, but groaned and gripped onto Linc’s shoulder, taking shaky breaths and riding out the wave of pain.
—--
When they arrived at the hospital, Lincoln carried Scary inside and put her in a wheelchair, walking to the admission desk. “HI, um…I need to check my girlfriend in. S-She's in labor. Her name is Theresa Marlowe-Stampler. She's s-seven and a half months pregnant.” Lincoln said, looking at the receptionist. She nodded softly and typed away on her computer, before looking up at the two. “Alright, Nurse Erin here will get you guys up to labor and delivery.” She said, motioning to the red haired nurse that was coming to help them up to the floor.
When they got to the room, Lincoln helped Scary onto the bed as another nurse came in.
“Hello, I'm Kelsey. I'll be one of your nurses while you're here, okay?” The older nurse said, coming over and checking Scary's vitals. “Alright Theresa, your chart said your 7 and a half months? Do you know what you're having?”
“Yeah. I'm having a little boy.” Scary replied, looking at the older lady and smiling softly. “Um..will he be okay? I-I know he's being born early but-”
“Oh hon, don't worry. He'll be okay. If anything, he'll need to stay in the NICU for a little bit.” Kelsey replied, hooking Scary up to monitors and humming softly. “Alright, I'll leave you two alone to get settled and so you can get changed into the gown, okay?” She said, leaving the room and closing the door.
—--------------
A couple hours later, Scary was pacing around the hospital room, taking deep breaths. Lincoln trailed behind her, gently rubbing her back. There was a soft knock on the door, and Veronica and Terry walked in, and the doctor followed behind. Lincoln helped Scary back to the bed.
“Hey Theresa, how are you doing?” The doctor asked, her cheerful voice breaking through the tense air in the room.
“I'm doing okay. Just…this is really painful. And I'm ready to meet the little one.”
“I get that.” The doctor said, pulling a pair of gloves on and walking over to check on Scary's vitals. “I'm sure Kelsey already told you, but the baby may need to stay in the NICU for a bit. Not for like…months, but it'll be a while. Maybe a couple weeks.” The doctor replied, checking on her dilation. “Alright Theresa. You are about…9 centimeters. Baby should be here soon. I'll give you some medication to help with the pain, and me or Kelsey be back every thirty minutes to check on you. Okay?”
Scary nodded softly, keeping a hand on her stomach and looking at Lincoln. “O-Okay.” She replied, trying to stay calm. When the doctor left, Veronica moved over to her daughter's side, gently taking her hand. “You've got this.” She whispered, planting a kiss on her forehead.
—-------
Six and a half hours later, Jerome Terrance Marlowe-Stampler-Li-Wilson was born. Scary held the little boy, smiling softly. Lincoln sat next to her, carefully wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “I'm so proud of you, Honey. He's beautiful.” Lincoln said softly, placing a kiss on Scary's head and looking down at the sleeping infant in awe.
Scary smiled and looked at Lincoln, giving him a soft kiss as the door to the room opened and their parents walked in. Veronica walked to Scary and smiled, brushing some hair out of her face.
“How are you feeling, honey? I'm so proud of you.” Veronica asked, tilting her head. Scary smiled softly. “I'm okay. I'm just happy he's here.”
“Speaking of, what's his name?” The older woman asked, looking at the two lovers on the bed. Lincoln and Scary exchanged a look, before smiling.
“His name is Jerome Terrance Marlowe-Stampler-Li-Wilson.”
