Chapter 1: Season 6, Episode 6 - 'Mean Twirls' (+ PRE S6)
Chapter Text
Pre-Season 6 Hozzy Lore/Headcanons
In Season 5, Ozzy was introduced as an J-Trouper.
It is confirmed in The Next Step, that Heath started dancing ELEVEN years before Season 7 occurred. Considering he showed up for the 1st time in Season 6 and was on J-Troupe with Ozzy for a while, I'm saying they spent at minimum two years together before Ozzy was moved up to A-Troupe, in Season 5.
TLDR; They have known each other since around Season 3 of TNS (timeline-wise), first meeting when they were both in J-Troupe.
Season 6, Episode 6 - 'Mean Twirls'
The first proper on screen interaction they have is in Season 6, Episode 6 - 'Mean Twirls', when Heath is talking to Winnie about his missing pet, Snuggles.
Straight away... TENSION.
When Winnie attempts to flirt with Ozzy (and fails), Heath uses this to then draw attention to himself by trying to insult Ozzy. This is also the first time we hear them use their nicknames for each other- 'Oswald' and 'Heathcliff' (actually their full names but no one else calls them that - they just wanted to be different <3). It highlights how deep their rivalry and obsession with each other goes but constantly calling each other by their stupid ass full names 😍
Ozzy mockingly congratulates Heath on making it to B-Troupe, but says that A-Troupe is the real deal. Heath retorts this, asking why he was in A-Troupe if it's for the "big boys". Instead of arguing back, Ozzy insidiously just stares at Heath for an uncomfortably long time. I counted and it went of for a long 10 seconds. Yeah... PRETTY GAY, AM I RIGHT?
He then proceeds to make fun of him again, Heath obviously replying again saying that he is front row in B-Troupe. AGAIN, instead of continuing to argue, he just side eyes Winnie and shoots a smug smirk in the hOmOsExUaL way possible as if he enjoys rattling Heath, teasing him. Heath then doesn't take his eyes of him as he leaves Shakes and Laders so... Yeah 😀
Later in the same episode, Ozzy comes in to help Winnie and Heath with a duet they are working on. He said that Winnie was great in the dance but said that her partner was the problem. Heath had no chemistry with Winnie. Obviously, in this situation Ozzy is biased against Heath but I think he's correct; Heath didn't have (a lot) of chemistry with Winnie. THEN, during a talking head, Hesth says he "oozes chemistry". So if you don't have chemistry with Winnie, but he claims that he has an abundant amount of it, where was it during the dance?
NOWHERE. BECAUSE HE HAS THE MOST CHEMISTRY WITH OZZY (which we'll see later in S7 when they do a duet hehe).
Chapter 2: Season 6, Episode 21 - 'Dancing With The Enemy'
Chapter Text
Season 6, Episode 21 - 'Dancing With The Enemy'
Heath and Ozzy interact again but honestly it's just Heath catching absolute STRAYSSSS from Ozzy and it's pretty hilarious.
HOWEVER, near the end of the episode, it is clear Ozzy is sorta starting to have a crush on Winnie??? after he is invited by her to play 'Legions Of Lasers' at her house even rejecting Richelle, who was asking him to the movies.
Chapter 3: Season 7, Episode 3 - 'Alternate Universe'
Chapter Text
Just like that, we are onto Season 7...
Season 7, Episode 3 - 'Alternate Universe'
Ozzy is berating his younger sibling, Izzy, who (understandably) is annoyed with his attitude and walks away from the situation. Straight after, Heath walks into the studio and the two lock eyes. Once again, they refer to each other with their pet names. It is just after this that it is confirmed by Winnie that her and Ozzy decided to just be friends after their gaming marathon.
Later in the same episode, Heath and Izzy get put in the same group for the choreography round of the A-Troupe auditions, with Richelle as their captain. Knowing this, Ozzy starts to instruct Izzy again, hoping they will take Heath's spot as alternate. Interrupting Richelle, his long time crush, when rehearsing with her dancers just to "help" his sibling beat Heath seems a little obsessive too me, especially considering that Ozzy couldn't keep his name out his mouth all episode.
When it is announced Heath was the second alternate, Ozzy has a break down (cause he dramatic as fuck) and Izzy tells him that he's embarrassing himself. Heath finds this amusing and is particularly happy that Oswald got to see him get the role of the second alternate, even calling it "something special".
Instead of hugging his now ex-B-Troupe members, he goes to Ozzy and says that he will be seeing a lot more of him. Of course, Ozzy tries to make a comeback but he's so in awe (aka in love) with Heath that he forgets to stop looking at him and trips over a bench, sending a load of water bottles clattering and embarassing himself even further.
In his talking head, Ozzy calls the outcome of the auditions his "worst nightmare"... BECAUSE NOW HE CAN'T ESCAPE HEATH AND WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE TO CONFRONT HIS FEELINGS HEHE.
Chapter 4: Season 7, Episode 4 - 'Three's A Crowd'
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 4 - 'Three's A Crowd'...is where my fanfic starts.
In this episode, Heath is made the understudy for a group dance that Ozzy is apart of. Not even 10 seconds after he enters the studio, Ozzy instantly insults him, making fun of Heath's alternate position to the rest of his group. (Idk, maybe it's his defense mechanism atp). They both become their usual confrontational self, getting way too close for comfort.
This happens again and again and again in this same episode; they continue to throw insults, they have a dance battle, they yell in each other's faces and this leads to Nick threatening both Ozzy and Heath's spots on A-Troupe. They are forced to sort of their problems or else they would be replaced.
They sit in silence in studio B, stubbornly not wanting anything to do with each other. However, Heath really does not want to loose his newly earned place on the team, and so apologises to Ozzy. Ozzy being the annoying little shit he is, gets an argument going ONCE AGAIN (surprise, surprise), just to get under Heath's skin. In the end, they compromise to say that they are equal and Heath comes up with the idea to make a duet, to show Nick that they can work together.
Luckily this works. Their places in A-Troupe are safe and for the first time they seem to be friendly... until they realised how much they they apparently still dont like each other and the respect they have for each other is purely based on their dancing.
Anyways, if you have not watched this episode yourself, GO DO IT. The sexual tension almost burns my eyes. They should've just kissed, all their problems would have been solved.
Chapter 5: Season 7, Episode 5 - 'Good Night and Good Luck'
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 5 - 'Good Night and Good Luck'
Heath is feeling outcasted on A-Troupe due to being so new and being dismissed by Summer, the dance captain. (Also, for context, there is a power outage in the studio and it's established that someone purposefully cut the power).
He goes to Studio 1 and sees Izzy is there. They bond over... plain Turkey jerky and apocalypse survival kits???? (I haven't got a clue either but it's sweet).
They continue to talk together and Izzy suddenly ask why their brother and Heath have problems. This is where it's revealed what the cause of their rivalry is. Heath definitely overcompensates in this moment; he already knows the reasoning sounds dumb and so, he decides to act it put to make the issue seems way more serious then it actually is.
Ozzy tripped him. One time. In one dance. Probably on accident. Yep, that's it. Their years of bickering was because Heath stumbled during a dance.
I remember watching this moment for the first time and being dumbfounded. I had never heard a more stupid reasoning for anything in my entire life. So it made me question, there had to be more going on. I think they needed a reason to be at odds with each other because truthfully, they liked each other very much but you know, having a crush on a boy as a boy is kind of not-very-straight; either that or they confused their feelings and their tension to be negative instead of positive.
Izzy, just finding this out, calls the stupidness of this situation out and Heath agrees that it is stupid when said out loud. Even in his talking head, he considers letting go of the past, but HIM BEING THE STUBBORN LITTLE BITCH BOY HE IS, decides that he loves getting up in Ozzy's face too much to give it up :)
Later on, Ozzy, Kingston and Lily are trying to find out who caused the power outage and soon they suspect Heath.
When they go to confront him, Ozzy is shocked to find out Izzy and Heath are having fun and dancing together. Clearly, he's the only one who wants to dance with Heath so he tells off Izzy again and says that them and Heath can't be friends. Heath, severely annoyed st this point asks why the three of them came to Studio B. He is then accused of causing the power outage because he couldn't prove he was getting a scone during the time all the electricity went. EXCEPT SIKE, HE HAS A RECEIPT!
With an airtight alibi, he is no longer a suspect. But obviously, Ozzy is still suspicious of him and warns him to watch out.
IZZY BEING THE BAD ASS KID THEY ARE gives Ozzy a piece of their mind and tells him to "butt out" of trying to control them and their friendships.
Truly a GOLDEN moment to witness 👏
Chapter 6: Seasons 7, Episode 9 - 'The Fall Of Summer'
Chapter Text
Seasons 7, Episode 9 - 'The Fall Of Summer'
Heath is still struggling with being an alternate.
Persuaded by Cleo, his fellow alternate, he decides to audition for Dancemania as a soloist.
HOWEVER, he gets invited by OZZY to go out for food with him, Henry, Kingston and Finn.
Ozzy's reason for inviting Heath along was because he was blackmailing his best friend Kingston, and so he knew he wouldn't have to pay a dime.
I'd like to think that there was some part of him who wanted to know what Heath was like outside of the studio but wanted to do it more naturally since everyone knows them as sworn enemies.
Of course Heath says yes, happy about being invited by him and considered part of A-Troupe (at least to the boys).
All in all, very wholesome :)
Chapter 7: Season 7, Episode 10 - 'A Tale Of Two Auditions'
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 10 - 'A Tale Of Two Auditions'
Heath walks into Studio A where A-Troupe are gathering to catch a ride to the Dancemania auditions. Ozzy is immediately annoyed by this and asks him why he's there. Heath smirks at his dismay and sarcastically asks 'Summer didn't tell you'?, getting ready to flirtatiously tease Ozzy again. However, this is quickly shut down when he realises the team actually doesn't know Summer is not going to the audition with them and that she called on him to take her place.
A-Troupe comes back from the audition, all extremely pissed that Summer left them at the last second. Heath tries to keep the optimism, praising how good their audition was. Ozzy might be having a small renaissance because he backs Heath up on his statement without any back-handed remarks.
WE LOVE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!
Chapter 8: Season 7, Episode 12 - 'Lights, Camera, Action'!
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 12 - 'Lights, Camera, Action'!
Due to passing the Dancemania audition, producers from the show come to The Next Step to get some extra footage. Sean, the producer guy, wants A-Troupe to do a dance challenge. In his talking heads Heath mentions how important it is to be on Sean's radar. AND THEN GUESS WHAT HE SAYS... "Hopefully, Ozzy doesn't blow it for us".
._.
Can they stop talking about each other for 2 seconds??? People (me) might think they are actually obsessed with each other 👀
Heath and Ozzy walk into The Next Steep TOGETHER to see Kingston talking to Sean. Being attention-seeking whores, they both instantly fight for his and the camera's attention. Of course this leads to them arguing.
Sean, however, loves their energy together. He says it's like they're best friends (boyfriends) who are always at odds with each other. He even mentions their contrasting T-Shirts, as if he thinks it's a cute little thing the two of them do on purpose. Instead of denying this, they kind of just awkwardly stand in front of the camera; they honestly seemed a bit embarrassed. Sean adds on to it by talking about competing for solo opportunities.
Ozzy takes a hit at Heath mentioning his brick-like feet and Heath gets genuinely offended. He fully turns to Ozzy, saying about how much Ozzy knows he struggles with his heavy feet while dancing. Ozzy APOLOGISES 🤯 admitting he went too far and Heath says he FORGIVES him. (Istg, these two act like an old, married couple sometimes).
They were so focused on each other, they didn't realise that Sean literally walked out. When they finally do notice, they quickly blame the other.
Heath and Ozzy are put in a group with Henry, Amy and Kingston for the Dancemania dance challenge. Amy tells us that the theme of the dance is Love. Heath says "gross" and Ozzy follow us by saying "double gross". SEEMS LIKE OVERCOMPENSATING BOYS LIKE, COME ON. YOU ARE LIKE 17, NOT 12. (Okay but like this is the second thing they have ever agreed on?)
The concept for their dance is that they all try to impress Amy and by the end she has to choose a lover.
Heath brags that's he's a good actor and Ozzy thinks he's better. He even threatens Heath by saying "And by the end of this, Amy's going to really think I'm in love with her" with a hOmOsExUaL eyebrow raise.
Okay but WHY did he need to say that? Would the idea of that bother Heath??? WHAT'S GOING ON!? 🏳️🌈
Ozzy then pushes it further asking Heath what love he has found in his life. Heath responds with "none right now" and asks Ozzy the same question back. Heath then brings up Ozzy's relentless pining of Richelle and calls him out for how delusional he sounds. They then start arguing about the choreography and still firing shots at each other.
In the group dance, they are basically just dance battling the whole time (their favourite couple activity).
Chapter 9: Season 7, Episode 15 - 'The Absolute Face Of Funder Bros'
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 15 - 'The Absolute Face Of Funder Bros'
The A-Troupe boys are planning a day out at Funder Town, an amusement park. Heath, Ozzy, Henry and Kingston were all meant to be going but Kingston cancels on them to go out with his girlfriend, Lily.
The guys, being annoyed about him missing another trip, mention how him also missing the previous day out left Henry on a canoe by himself for hours.
I'm just going to assume Finn is scared of deep water just like he is scared of rollercoasters because it's implied that only Henry, Ozzy, Heath and Kingston went canoeing and Kingston dipped. Considering the fact Henry was by himself, means HEATH AND OZZY GOT A CANOE TOGETHER. The fact that they survived clearly shows they are fond of each other now.
It's also confirmed that when the boys go out as a 4, they share TWO milkshakes between them all so... YES, I'M SAYING THAT HEATH AND OZZY HAVE MOST LIKELY SHARED MILKSHAKES MULTIPLE TIMES.
Also, this is the first episode that they both interact with each other without fighting and they are honestly so sweet. The amount of mirroring in the scenes is so cute and I think the chemistry is off the charts 🌸
Chapter 10: Season 7, Episode 16 - 'The Friendly Skies'
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 16 - 'The Friendly Skies'
Heath storms into the locker room where Kingston and Ozzy are talking. It is established Heath has a fear of either flying or aeroplanes??? (honestly this whole plot makes no sense but whatever I guess) and Heath says he's no longer going to Dancemania because of it.
Ozzy sarcastically replies with a 'YES' and in his talking head, he points out how important Heath is to A-Troupe (he does this twice in the episode).
Kingston and Ozzy agree to help him get over his fear.
They create a whole scenario, turning the locker room into an airport.
Ozzy's teasing of Heath is more endearing instead of annoying now, like I was having so much fun watching them interact in these 'airport' scenes.
A load more of some imaginary airline shenanigans occurs but Heath is able to make it through. Ozzy says that he's proud of Heath for surely but slowly overcoming his fear 😭
Chapter 11: Season 7, Episode 17 - 'Eight Crazy Dates'
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 17 - 'Eight Crazy Dates'
Henry and Amy plan their first date but suddenly, so many couples decide to invite themselves along, to their dismay.
Richelle, pissed that Lily said she couldn't go because she was single, asks Heath to go with her as her fake date. He responds by saying "I don't know what type of guy you think I am"... (into girls -oop) and says he needs to be wooed.
Now annoyed with Heath, she aggressively replies by asking him out again, this time saying his fully name - yes, Heathcliffe ---> the name literally no one in the studio calls him EXCEPT Ozzy, clearly using this as a "wooing" tactic (questionable but ok).
Heath agrees to go on the fake date with her.
I think it's interesting that the writers decided to pair Richelle and Heath up for this - Ozzy's longtime crush going on a "date" his bitter rival? I don't know, it just feels very purposeful to me 🤷🏽♀️
Chapter 12: S7. EP.20, EP.21, EP.22, EP.23, EP.24
Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 20 - 'Dance, Dance, Resurrection' till Season 7, Episode 24 'It All Comes Down To This'
Richelle decided to audition for Dancemania as a soloist, abandoning the team the day before the competition starts and this obviously makes A-Troupe hate her.
Even though how I think A-Troupe acted towards her was a bit over-the-top at times, it's kind of refreshing to see Ozzy letting her take the hit instead of defending her actions, like he would a few seasons back.
Despite Ozzy liking Richelle for YEARS now, he no longer let's that cloud his judgement and has become more rounded.
Not exactly about Heath and Ozzy, but I just wanted to mention this because I personally think he's had pretty good improvement in character (even if it was painful to get here 😀)
Chapter 13: Season 7, Episode 24 - 'It All Comes Down To This'
Chapter Text
Heath and Ozzy don't have anymore big scenes together for the rest of Season 7 but:
• They dance a short "freestyled" duo piece during the first time visiting the Dancemania stage
• Celebrate with each other first when they found out they were chosen for the ressuruction round (blink and u miss it)
• Heath doesn't make fun of Ozzy (his favourite past-time) when his best friends, Kingston and Henry, do
• Heath participated in the plan to cheer on Ozzy
• They stood together when they are planning how to get out of Maria's contract
• Also stood together during Emily's final speech to A-Troupe
HOWEVER, in the final A-Troupe dance, (Season 7, Episode 24 - 'It All Comes Down To This'), Heath and Ozzy play the characters of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, perfectly highlighting their dynamic together 😭
Heath refers to Ozzy as Osawld AGAIN in the Talking Heads, and makes a joke about getting the first choice of which character, forcing Ozzy to be Tweedle DUM(B) (applause for that one, this man is now a comedian) 👏👏👏
AND THAT'S A WRAP ON SEASON 7!!!
Chapter 14: Season 8, Episode 2 - 'Journey to the Past'
Chapter Text
During the scene about them discussing being Dancelled, Heath and Ozzy parallels/mirrors Kingstily and Pinn, the couples on A-Troupe.
(ao3 being a pain not letting my add the proof, but it starts at 14:18 of the episode)
Chapter 15: Season 8, Episode 7 - 'Perfect For You'
Summary:
Based on Season 8, Episode 7 - 'Perfect For You'
Chapter Text
Season 8, Episode 7 - 'Perfect For You'
In this episode, Ozzy and Heath are on a little bubble tea date and Ozzy is ranting about how his best friend, Kingston, auditioned for a movie and didn't tell him (they are absolutely the constant chatter- good listener type of couple). Ozzy is so irked that Kingston kept it a secret from him, that he starts to believe he could possibly be the mole. Heath, to keep his cover, agrees with him and eggs his belief on by saying "sometimes we don't know people as well as we think we do". They are absolutely the constant chatter- good listener type of couple.
Richelle approaches the two (interrupting their date) and says that they need to find a new performance space for Step Inside and quick; she really made herself the third wheel in this situation lol.
Ozzy brings Heath to a potential performance space that his Uncle Tony owns. The place is a "disaster zone", put nicely be Heath. However, Ozzy feels inspired and is determined for this to be the venue for Step Inside.
Richelle walks into the property and straight away decides this was not the right performance space (understandably, the room looked like a bombsite). STILL, Ozzy thinks it could work even showing Richelle the "You Can Do It" message written on his clipboard. Heath seems to believe in Ozzy vision.... that or he just wants to back his bf with no arguments.
It's a while later and Ozzy brings Heath and Richelle back to the building, where he has completely transformed the space. Heath looks just as amazed and impressed as Richelle at how good it looks and how quickly Ozzy put it together. Ozzy tries to play it cool, saying "he broke a little sweat" and Heath banters with him, replying with "yeah, smells like it" (lmao, that's grim). He gives Ozzy ad supportive smile and a sweet, little arm tap before wondering around the venue. Heath also compliments his good work in his Talking Head.
Richelle and Ozzy have a "romantic" moment with each other, BIGGEST EYE ROLL OML (I hate Richozzy and my reasoning doesn't even have anything to do with my love for Hozzy lol). During this, Heath is standing awkwardly in the background, attempting to look anywhere but those two. But it's not in a 'oh-they-like-each-other-let-me-mind-my-own-business type of way; Heath seems very fidgety and could also be read as him being uncomfortable or jealous.
LUCKILY FOR HEATH, Shad comes in and Richelle flocks to him, upsetting Ozzy. Meanwhile, Heath has a smile on his face the entire scene. Richelle and Shad leave together. Heath asks him if he's very to leave but Ozzy has to lock the venue up. Ozzy says he'll catch him later. they hug and they part ways, Heath complimenting Ozzy's interior design skills for a final time.
Let's talk about the title of the video for a sec.
'Perfect For You'. The title is clearly about the venue plot, not about the Kingstily break-up (since that would imply the opposite of them being "perfect" for each other), or the Lily and Cleo drama; finding the perfect performance space and making it look perfect. We could argue that the title was referring to Richozzy and how Ozzy made it truly perfect in the eyes of Richelle, which is sweet. Until you remember that as soon as Shad entered that venue, Richelle was focused on him, wanting his opinions on it (as if she put in the hard work), holding his hands and saying that they should celebrate finding a new space, which only leaves one other option...
Heath got progressively more and more supportive of Ozzy's ambition, stuck with him even when the venue seemed to be irreparable and praised Ozzy's dedication.

Summary:
Based on Season 8, Episode 8 - 'My Philosophy'
Chapter Text
Season 8, Episode 8 - 'My Philosophy'
In this episode, Heath and Ozzy talk about their suspicions of Cleo being the mole due to the positive comments from TeAra Bling. It is clear that Heath is feeling guilt for others being targeted but still, he doesn't tell Ozzy.
Chapter 17: Season 8, Episode 9 - 'When I Grow Up'
Summary:

Chapter Text
Season 8, Episode 9 - 'When I Grow Up'
Ozzy and Heath are waiting in the locker room to confront Cleo, now suspecting her girlfriend, Jude, is the mole. However, Heath tries to convince Ozzy to give up on the investigation but Ozzy is dead set, so they go through with it. They explain their points to her, even Heath joining in to divert suspicion even more (honestly, this whole scene feels like gay-on-gay crime, like leave the lesbians alone PLEASE. Bloody men... tut tut).
It is also at the end of this episode that reveals Heath to be the actual mole.
Chapter 18: Season 8, Episode 10 - 'The Movie In My Mind'
Summary:
Based on Season 8, Episode 10 - 'The Movie In My Mind'
Chapter Text
Season 8, Episode 10 - 'The Movie In My Mind'
Heath spends this whole episode trying to fix Kingston and Ozzy's friendship that was tarnished due to Kingston's audition. Luckily, he succeeds and the three of them work on the mole investigation. However, the investigation goes south when Heath believes that Ozzy and Kinston find out he's the mole. DUN DUN DUN!
Nothing really HOZZY about it, it's just sweet that Heath and Ozzy are really close with each other compared to Season 6 that he's willing to spend hours on end mending Ozzy's most important relationship. I personally think it was genuine instead of a way for Heath to relieve his own guilt; the way it was presented was as a solution to fix a part of A-Troupe's tarnished chemistry, so I'd liked to think he didn't do it to benefit himself.
Chapter 19: Season 8, Episode 11 - 'Tomorrow'
Summary:
Based on Season 8, Episode 11 - 'Tomorrow'
Chapter Text
Season 8, Episode 11 - 'Tomorrow'
Heath's identity is not found out as Ozzy and Kingston think the mole is Shad, which leads to his removal from Step Inside.
Later on, the A-Troupe are arguing with each other about what they are going to do for the show since they lost one of their key members. Heath in this moment realises the extent of which he's hurt his team and confesses to being the mole. The first reaction we cut to is of Ozzy; he doesn't seem angry, definitely way more betrayed and upset even though the emotions are subtle.
Heath then gets absolutely, deservedly GRILLED by everyone including Ozzy. Ozzy, knowing the answer already, asks if Heath lied to him during the countless investigations and hours spent together. Heath immediately apologises but Ozzy does not want to hear any of it - he walks away from him and Heath looks absolutely devastated.
After Heath explains why he did what we did, it cuts to Ozzy's reaction first (AGAIN), emphasising how important his perspective on this whole situation.
In his talking heads, Ozzy says that he feels like his whole friendship with him was a lie, and that Heath lying to him specifically hurt him more then him betraying their team. No one seemed to take Heath's moiling as a personal attack (maybe except Cleo which is valid as hell since her and Jude nearly broke up over this whole situation) and it shows that Ozzy really did like and respect Heath not just as a dancer know, but as a human and as a friend.
I could literally hear both of their hearts breaking in that scene, it was so devastating to watch.
When the team is deciding whether Heath should stay in the show, Ozzy is strongly against it and says that he and the team can no longer trust him. Luckily, Lily convinces the team that Heath is needed for Step Inside and that its the perfect opportunity to prove that they can be professionals.
The team meets and plan to get the show done and dusted even after all the drama. Despite Heath and Ozzy possibly being on the worst terms they have ever been on, they STILL proceed to stand next to each other.
I DON'T KNOWWWWW, I'm just saying if someone I considered one of my closest friends betrayed me to this extent, I would do anything to avoid them (maybe I'm just petty??? lol), However, with someone you have a crush or someone you're dating, you are more willing to be civil or mature with them because all of the same, previous feelings are still there, it's just now mixed with more complex opinions about that person in that specific situation (just some basic love psychology for ya'll).
Chapter 20: Season 8, Episode 12 - 'You can't Stop The Beat'
Summary:
Based on Season 8, Episode 12 - 'You can't Stop The Beat'
Chapter Text
Season 8, Episode 12 - 'You can't Stop The Beat'
The Step Inside boys are reworking a piece for the show because of Shad being dismissed.
Heath asks to go over a part of the choreography and also asks Ozzy politely to go over a flip with him.
In his Talking Head, Ozzy says that he can't trust Heath to perform the flip.
However, he never mentions his trust in Heath as a person to be gone, only his trust within the choreography of this dance and the show, so there is still some hope for them.
Ozzy argues that they should take the flip out since it's "too risky" but Heath points out that the flup is the highlight of the entire dance.
"Listen. I got you back Ozzy".
It is made clear that he wants the forgiveness of his teammates but all of this wanting is largely focused on Ozzy and his approval.
"You can trust me".
"Please, just trust me, okay"?
damn, Heath wants Ozzy to love him again so bad 😭
If you know anything about tropes and know anything about media, "do you trust me"? Or "just trust me" are historically linked to characters who have or will have romantic interest in each other; this is a specifically romance-coded and well documented thing. I know it probably wasn't intentional by the writers but a trope is a trope - if I see it repeated in media thousands and thousands of times and linked it to couples and romance, there is nothing stopping me from also relating it IN THIS WAY to Heath and Ozzy.
Ozzy, very annoyed, agrees to keep the flip in but straight up tells Heath that he will be ignoring him still (this isn't just petty, this is GAY PETTY).
Heath, currently lovesick And heartbroken, looks as Ozzy turns away from him with a disappointed face and says a simple, sombre 'okay'.
Back in the Talking Head, Ozzy says that he just wants the show to be good enough for the team to go pro and also says "I'm letting my feelings about Heath go... for now" (he couldn't say that line any other way???)
The show is just about to start when TeaAra Bling posts a new video, saying that Step Inside has had so much chaos happen behind the scenes and that the show will completely flop.
Everything IMMEDIATELY gets on Heath about this, Ozzy outwardly exclaiming "how can we dance with this guy now?" Everyone is even more PISSSEDDD.
Ozzy says he was starting to forgive Heath (even though bro did not show that in the slightest) but feels even more hurt then before.
It's nearly time for the boys' small group; Ozzy seems excited until he lays his eyes on Heath and his smile drops so suddenly. Finn emphasises how important it is to stay united for this piece, obviously referring to Ozzy and Heath and asks if they have gotten over their issues now.
At this moment in time, it seems like no one really cared about Heath and what he did; they were dead focused on the show but Ozzy cannot let it go, making him a stand out. They way the betrayal is shown to affect him is far more severe then anyone on the team.
In terms of platonic friendships, Heath is shown to be just as close to Kingston as he is to Ozzy (maybe even more), not to mention that Ozzy and Kingston are CANONICALLY best friends - so what does that make Heath to Ozzy?
Ozzy has another go at Heath, once again getting up on his face. Kingston separates them and tells them (mainly Ozzy) to stop bickering and just forget about their problems for this one dance.
For their introduction to this dance, each of the boys have a short video played of them talking about overcoming adversity. Both Ozzy and Heath's words perfectly align with their ongoing storyline.
"Sometimes in the past, I felt like nobody believed in me, not even my own teammates. But what I know now is that we always, always support each other when things get tough" - Ozzy; this calls back most notably to Season 5 Ozzy, who was overlooked by his teammates constantly, and Season 7 Ozzy when A-Troupe thought Ozzy being picked for a solo was an immediate lose. Both of these situations were later shown to develop Ozzy and other characters to be better and supportive people. However, Ozzy didn't do this for Heath; he didn't attempt to communicate properly, his mind wasn't on this dance - showing that actually he didn't care enough about Step Inside (or that he cared about his relationship Heath more) - and he didn't support or encourage Heath for this dance, instead bickering with him every chance he got.
"To me, actions speak louder than words and when I dance, I say everything I want to say" - Heath; in this dance Heath shows he's sorry by dancing his heart out and trusting Ozzy to execute the flip, relying on him to trust him back and to be his safety net. The mole situation was a lot of Heath running his mouth (saying words) but his actions (dancing) shows he cares about fixing his mistakes and contributing to the show, saying everything he "wants to say".
During their dance, Ozzy and Heath have more talking heads:
- Ozzy talks AGAIN about how there is not trust between them anymore, fuelling his belief that this dance will flop because of how disconnected he feels with Heath.
- They are able to do the flip well and safely, Ozzy even being surprised at how how it went and Heath fully placing his trust in him. This ONE move FINALLY gets Ozzy to reconsider Heath's intentions (yep, a flip has pretty much solved everything... lol, i hate the show's writing).
The boys finish the dance and Heath and Ozzy look to each other, their connection was instantly rekindled with Heath giving him a smile basically saying I TOLD YOU SO!
Backstage, Winnie (justiceforWinie) tells the team about the large amount of views they were getting on their livestream and no one can believe it... except Heath. Now is the moment he finally decides to tell the team why he talked to TeaAra Bling again (even though he could of told them before and resolve everything, but I guess we need another miscommunication plot... thank you TNS).
"So you did mole again"? asked Ozzy. Heath genuinely thought Ozzy was still upset with him, his smile dropping. Instead, Ozzy says his moiling was "awesome" and GIVES HEATH A FRICKING BIG HUG WITH A LITTLE WALK UP AND EVERYTHING <333 HEAD RESTING ON HIS SHOULDER WITH THE CUTEST SMILE ON HIS FACEEEEEE. THE HUGGG ALSO KIND OF LINGERED EVER SO SLIGHTLY AND EVERYONE JUST LET THEM HAVE THERE MOMENT. ALSO, OZZZYYY WAS STILL HOLDING HEATH'S WAIST AFTER THEY SEPERATED (losing my mind currently)
them hugging after all this time feels like I saw the second coming of christ, holy hell.

A-Troupe go back to the studio after step inside to say goodbye.
As they walk in, Heath mentions how he doesn't think they should be in Studio A because of how late it is and that they might get caught. Ozzy, teasingly as always, replies back saying, "All of a sudden, now you care about getting caught"? Making a light-hearted joke like this clearly shows how easily Ozzy has been able to forgive him after the boys' dance and how he wants Heath to know that his past being the mole shouldn't have to haunt him anymore. Heath says back "Yes Ozzy", a slight irritated yet playful tone in his voice. While Heath is still in the process of completely forgiving himself, he still responds to Ozzy being absolutely unserious about the situation. Everyone giggles, appreciating their exquisite banter.

Chapter Text
Season 7, Episode 27 - 'Defying Gravity, Part 2'
In this episode, they interact for the final two times in this show :(
After Kenzie's speech to A-Troupe, Ozzy and Richelle come running in. Ozzy stands besides Heath and they all do a cheer just before the team takes the stage for their final dance.
Heath hugs Ozzy after after Richelle and Ozzy kiss (at least someone is happy for them, aka NOT ME).
This was basically the last time Ozzy and Heath interact directly as each of their storylines shifts; Heath if focused on winning Nationals on A-Troupe and his friendship/relationship with Daisy and Ozzy stays by Richelle's side and develops their relationship (to my dismay).
Despite this episode being the last time these two are together in the series, my fanfic goes past this (we all cheer in unison).
Notes:
Thank you so much for reading this clusterfuck :)
