Chapter Text

Recap written the lines as close as my memory allows with me...okay so i added thoughts to this recap

Lucifer said, "Sam come on, I can feel you scratching away in there."

He looked into mirror.

Lucifer said, "Look, I'll take the gag off okay," wanting to make this easier for sam, "You got me all wrong kiddo. I'm not the bad guy here," lucifer thought to himself that would be my father for forcing us all into this role that none of us wanted... Perhaps in time he would share that with Sam.

Sam said, "I'm going to rip you apart from the inside out! do you understand me!" He didn't like how this was going he could feel a connection between them and he didn't like it.

Lucifer said, "Such anger young Skywalker," he sighed "Who you really angry with me or the face in the mirror?" Wanting to help Sam see the truth that they were made for each other.

Sam glared and said, "I'm sure this is some big joke to you!"

Lucifer said, "Not at all, I have been waiting for you for a long long time," he shifted to look into the mirror better, "Come on Sam you have to admit you can feel it right?"

Sam said, "what?" He was confused about what Lucifer could mean by that.

Lucifer said, "The exhilaration, and you know why that is. we are two halves made whole," looking into Sam's eyes "m.f.e.o. literally."

Sam said, "this feels pretty damn far from good." He was scared because he could feel that Lucifer was right, but he didn't want to betray his brother or cause a apocalypse.

Lucifer said, "I'm inside your grapefruit Sam you can't lie to me. I see it all," He moved a little, "How odd you always felt. how out of place in that family of yours and why shouldn't you have they were a foster care at best..I'm your real family."

Sam said, "no that's not true!" He refused to believe it he wouldn't give in that easily...it was Lucifer it was a trick.

Lucifer said, "it is and I know you know it." He could fell that he almost had Sam but he was still resisting, "All them times you were running away, you weren't running from them you were running towards me."

Sam looks around not wanting to look at Lucifer right now.

Lucifer Sighed before saying, "it doesn't have to be a bad thing you know," Wanting to appeal to Sam he added, "I let Dean live didn't I?"

Sam glanced back at Lucifer.

Lucifer said, "I want him to live, I'll bring your folks back too,"His eyes softened when he saw Sam look at him, "I want you to be happy Sam."

Sam said, "I don't want anything from you." He didn't want to be tricked and this sounded to good to be true.

Lucifer asked, "Really not even a little payback?"

Sam said, "what is that supposed to mean?" Confused about his change in tactics.

Lucifer said, "Look closely, none of these little devils look familiar to you?" He didn't want to hurt Sam but it seemed he needed a little push..good thing he had collected a few demons prior to this.

Sam said, "That's mister BentSmith one of my grade school teachers." *heartbroken* he didn't know what to think perhaps he had been possessed after the fact.

Lucifer said, "And that's your friend Doug from that time in east Lansing and Rachel your prom date," he had wanted to avoid this method of making sam see the truth as it would hurt him but so be it, "Sam Winchester this is your life Azazel's gang watching you since you were a rug rat, Jerking you around like a dog on a leash."

Sam looks around betrayed and angry and hurt.

Lucifer said, "I know how you feel about them, me too so, what do you say you and i blow off a little steam?" feeling Sam's emotions he knew this would be a tipping point.

Chapter Text

Sam nodded he wanted revenge..he was not a saint and he knew he never would be..he just hoped Dean would forgive him for this moment of weakness.

Lucifer smiled and said, "Sam, I want you to say it."

Sam looked conflicted.

Lucifer raised a eyebrow.

Sam said, "yes, I want revenge..on them on Azazel on everyone involved in that...but why do you want me to say it?"

Lucifer smiled, "so you can acknowledge that you and I are not so different after all..we all want revenge for trespasses against us it is natural..I was cast out because of it."

Sam said, "we are different."

Lucifer snorted, "Sam you can not lie to me like you can lie to yourself...I know you are better than that, why not accept the truth it would be so much easier for you if you did."

Sam said, "I can't accept that."

Lucifer said, "is it because your brother would never accept you if he knew the truth Sam?"

Sam growled, "leave my brother out of this!"

Lucifer said, "your brother reminds me of Michael in a way although your brother chose to rebel against your father to keep you safe.. whereas mine cast me into hell..I freely admit I'm slightly jealous of that." He wished Michael would have done the same for him.

Sam stayed quiet as he could see the similarities between him and Lucifer and Dean and Michael as well...he could easily see a path where Dean had chosen differently.

Lucifer said, "so will we work together or against each other Sam?"

Sam softly said, " I don't want to cause the apocalypse."

Lucifer said, "that ball has been in motion for eons scripted out by my father, there is no stoping it. Eventually a Apocalypse will happen, no matter how hard you or anyone else tries to stop it."

Sam said, "if me and Dean are alive there will always be a fighting chance."

Lucifer looked at Sam sadly and said, "Sam, I wish that was the case I truly do but even you are not a match for my father he is the one who wrote this all out...if this one fails then the next one comes into play... Amara his sister and my aunt and even I can not stop her so what chance do you have," Lucifer could feel Sam giving in so he added, "Why not serve your own best interest, which just so happens to be mine..you will be at peace Sam."

Sam said, "surely God would not have created millions for a mass slaughter," looking unsure.

Lucifer said, "I know my father best Sam...that is exactly what he would do..he is not a kind god; he is a jealous and vindictive god."

Sam said, "then why wait so long to do it?"

Lucifer said, "because one doesn't rush a production if they want the best show and all this is to him is entertainment...he never saw humans or even the angels as his children we were disposable toys to him," Lucifer showed Sam a few memories of his past.

Sam said, " enough..I can't...it so sad"

Lucifer said, "shh..it's okay Sam, we are here now and together we are stronger than apart."

Sam said, "yes, I want revenge."

Lucifer said, "do you see that is also what I want?"

Sam nodded not looking at him.

Lucifer said, "we can split control, consider this a act of good will Sam."

Chapter Text

A few hours later

Lucifer snapped his fingers and they were clean again.

Sam was not sure that had made him feel any better than before and Lucifer noticed this.

Lucifer said, "that was not as satisfying as I thought it would be," he started to think perhaps he had been wrong but the ball was in motion and there was no way michael would allow it to stop rolling.

Sam said, "perhaps we can find another way where you don't fight each other.. Lucifer," it was strange to have that coming off of his tongue.

Lucifer said, "he will not negotiate, he is God's right hand and will do what he thinks dad would want."

Sam said, "perhaps we can seal him away instead. kick him straight back up to heaven or something?"

Lucifer said, "the others would help him."

Sam said, "you don't want to fight your brother, I can feel that...you never wanted to fight him i know it hurt you to kill Gabriel," he could feel what Lucifer was feeling the longer they were together it was like they were merging.

Lucifer smiled, "you are right about that.. although Gabriel is not dead it was a trick. I figured if he thought he had gotten away he would stay out of the fighting like he always wanted. He never was one for picking a side," he wanted his brother to be happy and freedom would do that..so long as lucifer was around he would keep a eye on him to make sure he was okay..he just wanted his brothers to be happy he didn't like the fighting either but he didn't have a choice in it.

Sam smiled and said, "you did the right thing... even I had objections to him getting involved but Dean would not listen."

Lucifer chuckled, "that seems to be a recurring thing with Dean Winchester."

Sam said, "perhaps you and Gabriel might be able to work together and figure something out..to avoid all of this?"

Lucifer said, "i don't think he would agree to help me, he doesn't want to be involved with our fighting."

Sam said, "I think he would help if he had another option..if you tell him you want to find another way."

Lucifer said, "perhaps."

Sam asked, "why did you make demons anyway?"

Lucifer said, "the mark of cain was corrupting me..I made demons to bleed it off if you will...most are not redeemable but a select few I have no problem with... Azazel was always a fanatic who had to be kept in a leash....Dagon was not that bad... I can feel two others who have remained mostly human...a Fergus and I believe Meg to be the other one, a daughter of Azazel surprisingly."

Sam said, "Fergus would be Crowley...he's not to bad but watch any deals you make with him...Meg I don't really know," Sam added "that's sad that you had to create them so as to not become them."

Lucifer said, "I truly regret Azazel's actions against you sam..if I could have I would have prevented it from happening."

Sam felt warm at that and decided not to analyze it right now.

Lucifer said, "perhaps we can find another way but we will have to leave your brother out of it for now...he would only be hunted by Michael worse if he was around us."

Sam nodded.

Lucifer said, "I will do my best to protect those you care about if it does come to a fight Sam."

He could at least attempt that much.

Chapter Text

A few days later

Gabriel said, "how did you know I was not dead?" he wanted to know what gave him away to avoid it next time.

Lucifer smiled, "as I said brother, you learned all your tricks from me..you can not lie or hide things from me."

Sam snorted in his head, "why does that sound familiar?"

Lucifer ignored Sam for now.

Gabriel said, "what do you want?you have your vessel go start the apocalypse just not here."

Lucifer smiled, "brother I'm not here to fight, I just want to talk ..Sam convinced me to try to find another way and I agreed for now."

Gabriel's jaw dropped..he paled and said, "screw lucifer getting out being the cause of the apocalypse. no, this just froze hell over and started its own."

Sam started laughing in Lucifers head.

Gabriel said, "how did a mortal convince you of that when I tried for years?"

Lucifer said, "Me and him we are just alike..we are two halves of a whole if you will..he got his revenge and I felt how it didn't help it just made the void grow bigger with in him and I never wanted to fight my brothers but father never gave me the choice."

Gabriel said, "dad should never have gave you the mark..he knew it would not end well...it would corrupt you but he did it and cast you out regardless and cast Gadreel out at the same time for helping you...even though that was not true, that's why I left I could not stand watching my brother's turn on each other because of our father."

Sam snorted in Lucifers head and said, "do all angels have daddy issues?"

Lucifer laughed out loud.

Gabriel said, "have you gone mental?" That would explain a lot Gabriel thought to himself.

Lucifer said, "No I have Sam in my head giving commentary it is very distracting.." then he added, "Sam, like your one to talk I'm fairly certain we wouldn't be getting along if you didn't have some daddy issues of your own to work on."

Gabriel laughed, "what did he say exactly? because I can imagine a few spicy scenarios."

Lucifer said, "Sam asked if all angels have daddy issues."

Gabriel said, "to be honest a large portion of the one's who met him do have daddy issues we just ignore them."

Sam said, "y'all need a support group or a therapist..just saying it would go a long way with you bunch."

Lucifer relaid that.

Gabriel laughed and said, "brother I'm glad it's you and not me with Sam trapped in my head."

Lucifer said, "it's not so bad, I am quite fond of him."

Gabriel said, "that's a bit narcissistic of you brother but who am I to judge."

Lucifer said, "so will you help me or not little brother?"

Gabriel said, "Sam's a good influence on you..that's so wrong to say anyway so long as you are looking for another way brother I will help you to do so."

Lucifer said, "thank you, I do not want to fight Michael but I will if I have to..Sam agreed to that already."

Gabriel said, "I'm not so sure that would go the way you think brother.. Castiel and Dean have been looking for Sam..word on the street is they are considering a truce with Crowley."

Sam snorted and said, "sure Dean when it's convenient work with demons but the second it's not let's kill them all."

Lucifer ignored Sam's rant about Dean...it happens randomly since they couldn't block each other out anymore..not that Lucifer wanted to it was comforting in a way to have someone else there with you all the time especially after being alone for so long.. although it was annoying at other's.

Lucifer said, "the demon will not find us unless we allow it and we have no reason to do so."

Gabriel said, "arguing with your boyfriend?" Figuring Sam would want his brother helping him.

Lucifer smiled at Sam's reaction if spluttering and outrage.. although he was fascinated that there was no horror.

Lucifer said, "Sam is in agreement with us about that and does not like being called my boyfriend by the way."

Gabriel said, "well lovers can't apply as your sharing a body unless a handjob does it for you..no judgment if it does."

Lucifer laughed as Sam started threatening Gabriel in a colorful fashion that trickster would be proud of.

Lucifer said, "for now we are partners and nothing more."

Gabriel said, "some married couples prefer partner."

Sam screeched in Lucifers head.

Lucifer grabbed his head and said, "enough Gabriel you have more than hit the mark of annoying him."

Gabriel said, "aww is little baby Winchester embarrassed?"

Sam wrangled control for a minute and said, "why you prick, I'm going to tear your wings off and shove them where the sun don't .." before Lucifer got control again.

Lucifer laughed and said to Sam, "no need for that he is helping us..I don't thinks it's nice to threaten our allies."

Sam huffed before mentally crossing his arms.

Lucifer laughed and said, "Gabriel I would recommend stopping before he really does try to kill you."

About that time the door slammed open to reveal fenrir,Loki and Asmodeus who didn't think anything of Sam being there...he was just a human after all and rushed Gabriel who got caught in a net that started to burn his wings.

Lucifer snapped and the two pagan gods were dead..along with their family tree no one messed with his brothers but him.

He snapped again and Asmodeus was rendered paralyzed.

Lucifer removed the net.

Gabriel said, "what the hell was that?"

Asmodeus said, "a special design to hold angel's it's made of holy fire infused metal" answering due to lucifer.

Lucifer snapped and Asmodeus screamed as he was ripped apart by the atoms, the magic that created him returned to the mark of cain wherever it was.

Sam said, "you should have dragged it out."

Lucifer smiled, "why Sam you are a blood thirsty little thing aren't you?"

Gabriel said, "as I have told him before, anyone who thinks Dean is the dysfunctional one has clearly never seen Sam holding a sharp object."

Lucifer smirked, "that is true..then again it's true amongst us angels as well."

Gabriel said, "Loki was going to sell me to a demon that's low.. although i did agree to stay out of my family affairs..and didn't do so good at it.'

Lucifer said, "that was not on you brother, I'm just glad we prevented it last thing we need is demons hopped up on grace."

Gabriel laughed "I don't know it would make things more chaotic that is for sure."

Chapter Text

Gadreel said, "so let me get this right, you want to avoid the apocalypse and want my help along with Gabriel's? This sounds more like a recipe for a apocalypse not to prevent one."

Gabriel said, "the gang back together again so let's kick a little metaphorical ass and save the human's." laughing at Gadreel's pessimistic nature.

Sam sighed and said, "can I get one angel without the dramatics?" it was tiering.

Lucifer gave a fond chuckle and said, "sorry Sam that's like asking for you without the sarcasm, it  is just not going to happen."

Sam mentally rolled his eyes at Lucifers Sense of humor.

Lucifer said, "yes I think if we worked together we could figure something out."

Sam said, "how about do something like you did with Amara?"

Lucifer said, "that might just work,sam."

Gabriel said, "what did the boy genius come up with this time?"

Sam said, "one little punch, please!"

Lucifer said, "last time I agreed, you sent him through a wall, so no Sam you may not punch my brother."

Gabriel laughed.

Sam pouted he didn't like being told no he couldn't punch the annoying angel with super strength it was kinda fun.

Gadreel was just confused.

Lucifer said, "he was thinking do something like we did for Amara."

Gabriel said, "or how about we find Cain and bind Michael to Amara and boot his ass into the mark as well."

Lucifer said, "i don't want to risk setting our aunt free..if it's company for him you want I'm sure we can send a few of his lackey's in with him."

Gabriel said, "now that I can agree to, I always thought it was cruel to trap Amara all alone."

Gadreel said, "she preferred alone time."

Gabriel said, "yes, but not centuries of it."

Lucifer said, "fair enough now we have a plan let's figure out how to do it."

Gabriel said, "and pick who gets the mark of the sanctimonious pricks."

Gadreel said, "that shouldn't be to hard.. perhaps Dean would like the chance of Castiel..or another of our brothers?"

Lucifer said, "or perhaps Cain to counter balance the mark of cain?" He added "but I think he would kill us if we approached him."

Sam snorted, "with good reason," although he was proud of Lucifer for even suggesting it and he was not sure how that made him feel.

Lucifer hid his fond smile..Sam really was something else..

Chapter Text

A few days later

Sam had notified Dean to stay away, but figured he would show up regardless..Dean had not been happy to be kept out of the loop but understood why Sam did it.

They had the supplies they needed to bind Michael where he could do no more damage they just needed to finish setting up and invite him to the party.

They were just about done when the door slammed open and Michael walks in with Dean following and Castiel no where in sight.

Sam noticed Dean was not moving normally so perhaps Castiel was here after all he wondered if michael knew that.

Lucifer found it interesting as well but decided to see how this would play out. They started the ritual and Michael recognized it and killed the angel they had brought to be the binder Anna was her name Lucifer thought...just as they had almost finished they just needed to cut someone with the dagger and it would be complete; since they had gathered a feather from each angel they wanted trapped.

Michael blasted Lucifer right out of Sam.

Sam fell back next to the knife unconscious.

Dean/Castiel said, "hey, assbut" and threw a flaming bottle at Michael.

Michael blew up.

Michael was back before they knew it looking for Dean to return the favor.

Gabriel said, "I'm not going to let them have all the fun, hey Michael why don't you pick on someone the same size as you."

Michael snapped and Gabriel disappeared.

Gadreel said, "Perhaps I will no longer be remembered as the angel who let the serpent into the garden, perhaps I will be remembered as the one of the one's who gave their lives to give humans a second chance," as he charged at Michael trying to buy some time accepting his death.

Chapter Text

Sam woke up at that proclamation from gadreel and cut his arm...he hissed in pain.

Michael snapped but it was to late he was engulfed in a golden light and drew inside the mark.

The mark sealed behind them and Sam hissed as it burned into the bone.

Lucifer came storming back in (mark Pellegrino) expecting to find Sam and the others dead he was ready to be at his brother straight to hell and back for this.

Lucifer froze when he saw Dean out cold from being thrown into a wall.. evidently Castiel had left him to return to his vessel...no Gabriel anywhere to be found and gadreel standing there staring at Sam who was grabbing his arm hissing in pain.

Lucifer walked over to Sam and saw that it had seared into his arm and into the bone.

Gadreel said, "how did he survive?"

Lucifer said, "our souls must have intertwined with each other to the point it protected him."

Gadreel said, "so a soul bond that is rare and requires absolute trust between both parties."

Sam said, "what?'

Lucifer said, "to be blunt out souls are conjoined, one can not live without the other or die without the other...we will be stronger together than apart and can communicate telepathically amongst other things that are unique to each bonded pair."

Sam said, "what!" He was so not ready for this they may know each other better than anyone else on the planet, but that didn't mean they were compatible.

Lucifer heard Sam's thoughts and decided to silence them.

Lucifer grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him up and kissed him senseless.

Sam was surprised at first but returned the kiss.. they pulled back.

Dean said, "so Castiel was right, you are in love with the friggin devil of all people Sam!"

Castiel said, "that's enough Dean your brother has changed him. Let's leave them be for a while...I'm sure Sam will visit soon enough."

Dean grumbled but was teleported by a unimpressed Castiel who was smiling at them...in a unnerving way.

Sam said, "we need to get Gadreel some help for his self sacrifice ways... seriously."

Lucifer saw what happened in Gadreel's memories and had to agree... perhaps in time they would all heal.

Gadreel said, "I was made to serve a cause one that protected humans, I was willing to die for it."

Sam said, "that's good and all but what do you as a person want?"

Gadreel said, "to be redeemed."

Sam said, "you will never be in some people's eye's Gadreel.. but in ours you are...what do you want to do next?"

Gadreel said, "I was always fond of sheep... perhaps a shepherd of sorts...and help defend humanity when needed because dad will not let this stand."

Lucifer said, "and we will be here to try to stop it again the next time."

Sam said, "one big happy angelic mess of a family," laughing at the irony.

Lucifer said, "with a pet hunter."

Sam glared

Lucifer said, "easy there luv, I was just teasing."

Gadreel left.

Sam, "so how long are we going to let Gabriel think we think he's dead?"

Lucifer smiled, "he knows that we know better, but I'll keep a eye on my wayward brother and rescue him if he gets into trouble...but he deserves a vacation."

Sam said, "I agree those who truly knows Gabriel knows he is still alive no matter how many times he dies."

Lucifer smiled and nodded.

Gabriel pov

Gabriel teleported to a nice beach and was sun tanning with some hot chicks knowing his brother knew he was alive relaxing... everything was delt with for a while..he was sure something would happen eventually as dad didn't like his plans to be messed with.

When he heard a voice say his name his eyes snapped open to see Cain standing there a few feet away from him.

Gabriel said, "here we go again."

Chapter Text

Cain is standing over Gabriel with the first blade in hand.

Gabriel said, "what do you think you are doing Cain? I have done nothing to you."

Cain said, "your father promised to remove this mark all I had to do was kill you and lucifer."

Gabriel said, "and they call me the trickster, news flash Cain, I didn't learn all my tricks from my brother some came from dad, he will not follow through with his deal that I can promise you ."

Cain said, "it's worth a chance," moving closer to Gabriel.

Gabriel sent a clone behind Cain and used it to distract him so he could escape he teleported straight to Lucifer.

Gabriel said, "good ol dad is up to his games again and is not very happy about what we did brother" plopping down onto the bed next to Sam and Lucifer who had probably been sleeping.

Sam jumped at the sound of Gabriel being in the room and plopping down next to them.

Lucifer pulled Sam to him and said, "what gave you that opinion brother?"

Gabriel said, "he sent Cain and the first blade after us...he promised to remove cains mark if he killed us."

Sam said, "why did Cain believe that, from what I have gathered y'all's father would not do that or he would have for Lucifer."

Lucifer said, "desperate people, will believe whatever they want to believe and that is what makes them most dangerous."

Gabriel said, "dad would not risk auntie Amara, being set free so he would not honor the deal he made but how do we convince Cain of that?" looking between them.

Sam said, "why not just have a witch or someone put him under a sleeping curse or something?" He thought to himself Kinda like sleeping beauty.

Gabriel looked at Sam and said, "you are right about that although sometimes I'm worried about whom is corrupting whom in your relationship," seriously the Winchester brother's had some serious issues to work out.

Sam laughed and said, "it's a mutually assured corruption although it has been nice so far," he had enjoyed his time with Lucifer as odd as it was to consider it.. Lucifer felt more like family then his family did..he was right about that.

Lucifer said, "I'm not so sure Dean would agree with you there Sammy," he was enjoying the warmth that was rolling off of Sam's body and in to his...the cage had been so cold he didn't feel like he would ever be warm again when he had been there.

Sam snorted, "like he is one to talk he is banging Castiel who is mostly clueless about such things." he deeply regretted not knocking before walking into the kitchen last week.. seriously he saw more of the two of them then he had ever wanted to see.

Gabriel said, "good for my baby brother, perhaps I should go have a birds and bees talk with him."

Lucifer snorted, "way to late for that conversation if his neck was anything to go by the last time they were here."

Gabriel laughed and said, "so Cain what are we going to do about him?"

Sam said  "what we always do! find a way to stop him before the apocalypse gets started or something...saving people, hunting things, is the family motto after all," it was what his father had drilled into him from a young age and he lived by it even in college.

Gabriel said, "not to be a party pooper but that is a ideal not a plan." he wished it was that easy but he knew that their father would never let it stand like it was now.

Lucifer said, "somethings you have to play by ear brother and this will be one of them..we will deal with Cain and our father when the time comes..let's celebrate today and worry about it when it happens."

Chapter Text

Gabriel had been hanging around as he didn't really want to risk Cain finding him again since he did wield one of the few things that could kill him or Lucifer.

Sam was getting used to the snarky trickster being around..

Lucifer was amused at how often Sam would trick Gabriel into being bait for a hunt...he should probably be concerned about that but...he was not going to complain to much since Sam let him swap between his and Nick's bodies.

Sam missed when Lucifer was not angel possessing him but he also enjoyed being able to interact with him it was weird.

Lucifer said, "so Gabriel, why don't you go visit Gadreel or something I'm sure he would like the company."

Gabriel said, "I doubt he wants to see me, I left him behind and didn't fight for him even though I knew he was innocent, I was a coward for not coming back for him."

Lucifer said, "he forgave you for that already, you just need to forgive yourself for it brother, perhaps visit him and see what happens." he knew that his brother had a thing for gadreel but had not acted on it for fear of rejection in the past and guilt now.

Sam said, "Gabriel, he didn't mind the pranks you played on him while he was here because he was to busy trying to keep his eyes at a respectable level." seriously it had been a little nauseating to witness... especially since he couldn't really look away with Lucifer in control of his body at the time.

Gabriel said, "perhaps you two are correct about it, but that does not change the fact that I left him behind...and imprisoned."

Sam rolled his eyes and said, "Gabriel for the love of my sanity talk to Gadreel before I decide to find Cain and get him to maim you since Lucifer won't let me maim you." It was a empty threat he would not do that to Gabriel or Lucifer but he was getting a little annoyed with all the heart to hearts...he was raised a hunter and that meant blocking his emotions most of the time so he was not adjusting to the emotion thing real well.

Lucifer found this amusing since he knew Sam would not do it even if he was tempted to.

Gabriel found it less amusing as he knew Sam would do some sick shit occasionally and wouldn't put it past him to do so...

Gabriel said, "fine I will go visit Gadreel for a while" flapping his wings and disappearing.

Sam said, "finally he was driving me crazy."

Lucifer chuckled at Sam and pulled him closer Sam was weird about public displays of affection but when they were alone Sam was a major cuddler or very touchy...it was a nice difference as he was a little touch starved from being locked away Alone for so long.

Back to Gabriel

Gabriel arrived at a cottage in Ireland of all places and knocked on the door and waited.

Gadreel answered the door sensing it was one of the angel's at the door.

Gabriel smiled when gadreel Open the door before shuffling back a little to give him more space he didn't want to crowd him.

Gadreel said, "has something happened?" He was worried Cain may have found them again, since Cain was a danger to all angels since he had the first blade and if anyone killed Cain it would break Amara free...that was something that he feared above all else...well technically he feared the empty a little more but it was a close call between the two.

Gabriel said, "no, everything is going good, I was driving them crazy so I got sent away and lucifer suggested I talk to you?" glancing around he noticed that gadreel had really gotten sheep, he had thought it was a joke when gadreel had mentioned it.

Gabriel thought that gadreel looked much more relaxed and almost happy here...it was nice he could see the little sparkles of mischief in his eye's.

Gadreel laughed and said, "let em guess you were up to your usual antics?" It was one of the most predictable things about Gabriel and Gadreel loved to watch Gabriel set them into motion or even help set it up.

Gadreel had not told anyone that it had been his good memories of heaven with Gabriel and the tricks they had played on others that were what kept him sane the whole time he had been imprisoned, with nothing to do but remember or think on thing's...it had been dull and boring but his memories had been there to give him the support he needed.

Gabriel said, "one can't take the trick out of the trickster!"

Gadreel said, "that is true it is a large part of who you are Gabriel but it is not the only part to you. You care about your brother's deeply, you would do almost anything to protect them...it is a admirable trait."

Gabriel said, "I do care about my brother's some more than other's, I would like to apologize for not coming back for you."

Gadreel said, "if you had the apocalypse would have started sooner and you know it, it was important you stayed away... Michael or Lucifer would have dragged you into their fight and you would have lost because you would not fight them." he knew that for a fact it was one thing he both loved and hated about Gabriel.

Gabriel chuckled and said, "I suppose that might be true but still I was a coward and I am sorry." he didn't like apologizing to people but he would always Apologize to gadreel.

Gadreel said, "you are many things but a coward is not one of them Gabriel, you have nothing to be sorry for and nothing to be ashamed about, I hold no ill will about it."

Gabriel looked away and said, "I feel like I betrayed you."

Gadreel said, "you have helped me since I got free, you kept me sane when I was trapped with the memories we had made prior to it."

Gabriel looked up.

Gadreel said, "you have been and will ways be my anchor Gabriel."

Gabriel was surprised to hear that he had thought gadreel would not return his feelings it seemed he had been wrong about that.

Gadreel said, "I know now that I love you, in the beginning I didn't know it and imprisoned I was not sure, but seeing you once I was free made everything click into place I just didn't know how to tell you..so I left."

Gabriel chuckled, "well then we were both fool's for not figuring out our emotions."

Gadreel laughed and said, "so would you like to get to know each other better?"

Gabriel wagged his eyebrows and said, "what did you have in mind?"

Gadreel said, "get your head out of the gutter, I was thinking a movie marathon?"

Gabriel's eyes light up he wanted to see the newest Star Trek so perhaps they could do that.

Gadreel said, "I got a few star Trek movies recently...I thought perhaps you would like to watch them with me"

Gabriel said, "it's like you can read my mind." walking in to the house and last gadreel.

Gadreel set up the movie while Gabriel got the snacks... mainly sweet's but a few fruits as well.

They watched the movie curled up on the couch together.

Chapter Text

A few days later

Sam went to visit Dean yet again but this time he remembered to knock... Castiel opened the door and was Leary of lucifer being there....they had not worked through the distrust there yet.

Sam said, "hey, Luci wanted to talk to you and I wanted to ask Dean about a hunt..." shifting there awkwardly he had not really talked to Castiel since he had said yes to Lucifer.

Castiel stepped to the side to allow them entry..he said, "your brother will be happy to see you sam, I do not blame you for saying yes...it was destined to happen eventually," even if he thought Dean was stronger for holding out; he could understand why sam was unable to do so.

Lucifer said, "so baby brother want to catch me up on some angel gossip, you could say I'm a little out of the loop," stepping closer to Castiel finding it amusing how it ruffled the younger angels feather's.

Sam said, "luci behave, I mean it I don't want you and Castiel fighting and making things even weirder between me and Dean," he loved his brother and didn't want their choice in men to be what pulled them apart permanently.

Lucifer pouted and pulled Sam to him and said, "for you, I will behave this time," he really was attached to Sam he enjoyed how his grace could flow between the two vessels so he was always with Sam yet he could interact with him.

Sam leaned into the touch and kissed Lucifer on the cheek before pulling away to go talk to Dean, about a hunt he had found that might interest him as a bit of a olive branch for leaving Dean out of the loop when it had came to Michael.

Dean was surprised to see Sam but pulled him into a hug regardless, he had missed his brother even if he was still a little angry about being left out, he was a hunter and not a kid and he felt like he had been placed in time out.

Sam hugged Dean and said, "I found a possible hunt not far from here if you are interested?"

Dean smiled knowing it was a olive branch...they had used them often enough in the past for the other to know it.

Dean said, "what exactly did you find this time?"

Sam said, "ghost of a hunter, I'm fairly certain."

Dean asked, "a hunter or a Hunter?"

Sam said, "like us."

Dean said, "yeah that's not something for a newbie to try, hunter ghost are fucking ruthless and creative," remembering a time he helped his father with one...it had been pure hell.

Sam nodded he had also been in that hunt..it was his last one before he went off to Stanford and had been his deciding factor because he had hesitated...but once he saw what that hunter turned into after death Sam wanted nothing to do with the life..he didn't want to ever become so callus.

Dean said, "how exactly are we getting that past our guardian angels?" Rolling his eyes he was slightly annoyed at how overprotective Castiel had became since they had started dating.

Sam said, "well... Castiel can't track us... Lucifer can but I asked him not too unless he could sense we needed backup."

Dean said, "and he listened to you?" Not believing Sam has that kind of sway with Lucifer of all people.

Sam shrugged and said, "we came to a compromise, I let him have a little mostly harmless fun with Gabriel in Venezuela and he would agree to let us do this while distracting Castiel."

Dean said, "the giant apocalyptic mirage a few week's ago?"

Sam said, "no one got hurt...just a few thought the world was ending." shrugging that had been the least harmful thing they had came up with.

Dean laughed and said, "that caused a mass panic, for a week!"

Sam said, "well I finally found a hunt to cash the ticket in on."

Dean laughed and said, "sounds like fun but I think Lucifer and the trickster are bringing out your mischievous side," he has not seen it since before college it was nice to see his brother playful again.

Sam laughed and followed Dean out to the Impala without Castiel noticing a thing.

Lucifer and castiel's side of things

Castiel said, "I do not believe your intentions are as pure as you say."

Lucifer said, "wise, to be Leary of me but I promise that I mean Sam no harm and he is fond of Dean who is fond of you...so long as you do not pose a threat to Sam, we will get along just fine."

Castiel sat beside Lucifer on a bench outside.

Lucifer watched as Sam and Dean left and said, "brother, what has happened in heaven with Michael gone?"

Castiel said, "Raphael is trying to take over but several angel's refuse to flow him in hopes with Michael and you gone Gabriel might return home."

Lucifer chuckled and said, "I guarantee Raphy doesn't appreciate that." his brother was a control freak and would lead the angels further astray.

Castiel said, "he has been difficult, I have been avoiding heaven to stay out of the mess."

Lucifer said, "smart."

A little while later

Sam and Dean returned covered in ash...smoke and some sort of black goo they were trying not to think about.

Lucifer said, "did you two have fun?" He was chuckling at the looks he got.

Dean said, "buckets of it!"

Castiel said, "fun is not black and goo like."

Sam laughed and said, "no but ectoplasm is...that was one furious ghost."

Lucifer snapped and they were clean again.

Sam walked over and said, "thank you"

Castiel said, "Lucifer was here as a distraction wasn't he?"

Lucifer said, "Sam wanted to take his brother on a hunt, and I did want to catch up with you."

Castiel sighed he had a feeling he would have to get used to everything having double meanings again.

Chapter Text

Sam was pissed off about what had happened a few hours prior as he sat in a chair he was tied to and contemplated what led up to this.

Lucifer and Gabriel had gone to help gadreel ward his property because they had spotted Cain nearby. now normally that would not be a big deal but this time it was rather clearly a trap now that he thought about it.

A hour after they had left Sam heard a knock on the door and thought it was Dean who was supposed to come over so they could hit a few books to find a way to kill a particular ghost since the normal method had not worked. but he has opened the door to find Cain standing there and that was the last thing he remembered and his head was throbbing so he assumed he had gotten hit over the head with something.

Sam was not particularly happy due to the warding and the fact he was gagged keeping him from summoning any of the angel's.. although Lucifer might still be able to get in due to his grace being in Sam..but it would definitely trap him which Sam did not want to happen so he would have to figure this one out alone hopefully before the others realized ehat was going on...Sam had thrown up a mental block between him and lucifer when he had seen cain so Lucifer would not rush into a trap set for him.

Cain was pacing he had thought Lucifer would care more about his vessel it is why he set things up to trap him here.

Cain said, "looks like he doesn't need you after all."

Sam rolled his eyes it's not like he could respond even if he wanted to.

Cain punched him in the stomach causing Sam to exhale all the air in his lungs..that did not feel pleasant.

Sam raised a eyebrow in challenge, with his best bitch face expression.

Cain stepped back he was not used to people knowing who and what he was and not being terrified.

Sam had faced death so many times and met the literal embodiment of death that he didn't really fear death..his luck it would be temporary..that did not mean he wanted to die. he just didn't fear dying.

Cain pulled out the first blade.

Sam had a idea ....he just hoped it didn't accidentally allow Amara to escape...Dean would never let him live it down if he was the start of two apocalypses..it was bad enough with just the one.

Cain decided he would remove the gag so he could question the vessel who he could sense the grace on.

A few minutes later Sam could talk if he wanted but decided to just glare while he worked on getting the rope where he could break free from it.

Cain said, "you know who I am why are you not scared?"

Sam snorted before replying, "seen scarier, killed things more evil, been killed by things more powerful, take your pick."

Cain said, "I doubt that death is death and finale." not believing sam.

Sam laughed and said, "not if your God's favorite punch line." seriously him and Dean had decided their life was a TV drama or something because this shit that they called life was chaotic and made no sense at times.

Cain tilted his head at that and Sam threw his head forward enjoying the crunch of a broken nose, although he should have thought about that before he did it because man did that make his headache worse.

Cain jerked back after he punched Sam throwing him into the wall and breaking the chair.

Sam picked up a leg as he stood up.

Cain laughed and said, "you think that will hurt me, I'm immortal it doesn't matter what you do to me I can not die."

Sam said, "you're not the first to give me that speech." he was getting sick of everything having the same speech like did they never mix it up.

Cain rolled his eyes at Sam's hubris, he had seen it all before people who thought they could help him or kill him not realizing the mark would never allow that to happen so long as he wore it.

Sam waited for a opportunity to strike he knew this would all come down to timing...once he ran Cain threw he needed to decide if he was going to run or take a chance at ending this once and for all... Lucifer was not sure if it would work when he had asked his kinda crazy idea...he had not been in on the design details of the mark as he had been chosen to wear it.

Cain moved to the left but heard something's behind him perhaps they had finally came for the human toy, he turned to look but didn't see anything.

Sam used the distraction to rush Cain he ran him threw with the broken chair leg and grabbed the first blade, it was hot like a branding iron but Sam continued to hold it and used it to cut the mark off of Cain's arm he watched as it turned into a red mist and traveled into the blade leaving a etching on it's handle .

Cain healed but didn't have the mark any longer...he was human now. Although missing a chuck of his soul.

Sam set the knife down as it was warm..it was no longer burning him though.

Sam broke the sigil's on the house and waited for the angel's to drop in... knowing he would definitely be in trouble for not trying to get them in sooner or letting Lucifer into him.

Sure enough as he broke the last sigil he had four fully pissed off angels in the room with their wings on display which of our means all the glass broke.

Sam sighed as he looked at all the glass...his head throbbed in protest of all the noise.

Lucifer saw Cain out old on the floor.. without a mark and Sam standing next to the first blade...he didn't know if he was happy Sam had figured it out or if he wanted to throttle him for scaring him.

Sam said, "hey guys...think he's human." just before he gave into the darkness that had been tempting him since he broke cains nose.

Lucifer caught Sam before he hit the floor.

Gabriel said, "you can always count on the Winchester's to do something be it brave or stupid," watching in concern.

Castiel walked over to Cain to ensure he would not be a further risk to them, his scan showed sam was right cain was now mortal again.

Gadreel was watching the situation concerned about Sam and Leary of Cain after all it was not the first time someone had thought they had bested Cain.

Lucifer healed Sam from the head injury and the burns on his palm.

Sam woke up and said, "damn that was not a nice headache."

Lucifer said, "anyone less stubborn would have probably passed out a long time before that."

Sam snores and said, "you can say, I have had a lot of practice over the years... how me or Dean have not gotten a permanent brain injury I will never know "

Lucifer chuckled as he knew that was very true and a miracle that probably had his father's name all over it.

Castiel said, "what are we going to do with him?" Gesturing to Cain.

Gabriel said, "what I want to know is who is going to watch over the first blade...I can feel the temptation from here."

Sam said, "what temptation?"

Everyone looked at Sam.

Sam said, "what?"

Lucifer said, "can you not feel a slight urge to use it?" Even he was not immune.

Sam rolled his eyes stood up and said, "no" picking it up and said, "still don't see the temptation, it's just a jawbone."

Lucifer said, "you don't feel it?"

Sam looked at them baffled.

Gadreel laughed and said, "Lucifer of course your true vessel would be immune..he was made for you and you had the mark at the time."

Lucifer said, "but I was effected by it so why is he immune?"

Gabriel said, "guys can you feel it? Sam's neutralizing the temptation." he didn't feel a urge to take the blade when Sam was holding it.

Sam sighed, "this means I have a new fashion accessory doesn't it?" he would keep it safe he just didn't like the thought of someone using it at all.

Lucifer said, "if you don't mind, if your not tempted to use it you are the safest choice to wield it." he knew Sam just wanted to be normal but so long as he hung out with them that was never going to happen.

Castiel said, "Dean is summoning me, I will leave you all to this" as he flapped his wing's.

Gadreel laughed and said, "this day has definitely been weird."

Sam said, "what am I supposed to do with this exactly?" Gesturing with the knife and he hissed when it became a tattoo.

Lucifer blinked in surprise.

Sam looked at it and focused on the knife and it was in his hand then he focused on his arm and it was a tattoo again.

Sam said, "well that is convenient." a knife that could not easily be taken away and would be dismissed as a tattoo unless the person was in the know.

Lucifer chuckled at that and said, "you do have the strangest things happen to you Sam Winchester."

Sam nodded he was tired and while he was healed he just wanted a nap.

Lucifer pulled Sam to him and said, "you will get to nap soon." he could tell the events of the day had left Sam exhausted or perhaps it was the blade...they would have to test that over time.

Gabriel said, "well if there is no apocalypse starting I planned a week at the Bahamas with my angel" pulling gadreel to him.

Gadreel looked down at Gabriel and said, "well I certainly don't see a apocalypse looming around anywhere."

They were gone.

Sam laughed and said, "they surprisingly fit each other."

Lucifer nodded in agreement before pulling Sam down onto the couch.

Sam flopped onto the couch and stretched.

Lucifer sat next to him and said, "sleep, you will be safe."

Sam nodded and dozed off before long feeling warm.
