The brothers have a minor disagreement and this leads them to have a small break from the other. Sun is now willing to help anyone to prove his worth, even a new friend he found along the way!

(I'm not good with summaries.. If you want another chapter please give me some ideas because I have no idea what to do with this. I'm still a little new to all of this so sorry if there are mistakes!!)

Notes:

Hello again! It had been a while since I have posted anything and I was finally able to finish this to where I'm at least decently proud of it. Let me know if I made any mistakes or maybe some other things you'd want to see come out of this.

Chapter Text

“God Sun can you just go away! I don’t need your help! Me and Solar got this!” Sun held his hands close to himself pathetically. His tear ducts threatened to open at a moment's notice. “Right. Sorry..You and Solar, got this.. Sorry- I’ll just go home.” Moon grumbled and turned back to his work, the look on Solar's face was that of concern and tiredness from the almost constant working nowadays.
Ever since Eclipse had come back everyone had been on their toes, mainly Moon. Causing him to be more snappy, Sun’s near constant wish to help had apparently gotten on his nerves one too many times. Sun turned on his heels and walked straight out the doors of the daycare. Some fainting mumbling could be heard through the static noises that drowned Sun’s audio processor. It didn’t take long till he was teleported home, the sky becoming a welcoming orange as it was reaching dusk. Sun walked in, going straight to the basement to where his cats were being held.

The feeling of little paws against his pants and another practically clawed all the way up his pants and made his shoulder their new perch. “Hi sweetie..” Sun mimicked the sound of kissing noises as he pressed his faceplate to Midnight's head. He walked around and sat down on the couch, and moved to lay down as Comet jumped on the couch and onto Sun’s stomach.

The small weight had provided a strong sense of comfort. The feeling never drowned him like it did most days. It was always enough to keep him afloat with his reality. “G’night my babies.” Sun whispered as he plugged in his charger and settled more comfortably on the couch. Allowing for the feeling of sleep to seep into his joints and slowly shut down his systems into rest mode.

The closing routine of the daycare had gone smoother than most days today, the barrels weren’t as dirty and luckily no kids decided the ball pit was the equivalent to a bathroom! It was a relief to the attendant, though with his luck lately, this was the calm before the storm. This proved to be quite literal as the power cut, forcing Sun into a deep abyss of what was his daycare just a second ago. “God dammit- Why can’t things just not go wrong for two seconds?”

Sun sighed and began to dial Moon's number. “What’s up?” Moon's voice cut in not even after the first ring. “H-hey the power just cut out and- and I don’t really know what to-“ He was quickly cut off by his brother on his phone. “Is what I would say if I answered your call, leave a message after the beep.” Sun hung up before the beep could play to begin the voice message, closing his arm hatch harshly and blindly walking through the daycare.
Only the lit up wires of the generators provided him a decent path. “I’ll just call him aGAIN-!” A pair of hands quickly grab him and pull him into the ball pit, the feeling of his atoms deconstructing and rebuilding him elsewhere had become increasingly normal at this point.

-Else where-

“Let go of-!” Sun squealed as he left the ball pit to evade the strikingly similar solar bot. “..me?” Sun's shoulders relaxed slightly at a familiar face; it might have been his own face, but he was usually harmless in most dimensions.
“Right and wrong.” The similar solar bot replied. “I am you but we are not the same.” Sun's face portrayed his rather large amount of confusion.
“W-what?” He whispered out, looking around at the strikingly similar daycare.

“Well I’m pretty sure it’s obvious you aren’t home.” Sun nodded and looked around, scared something might pounce on him at a moment's notice. “I knew you wouldn’t follow me willingly, who would? Most Suns aren’t that gullible anyways.” The monotone sound of his voice covered any potential sarcasm.

“O-okay?” Sun breathed out nervously and shuffled a little closer to the ball pit. “Anyways I suppose you want to know why I dragged you in here?” Sun nodded and rasped out a small ‘yes’ before the other walked cover to him and took a seat on the small retainer wall of the ball pit.

“I’m offering you a pretty..nice deal if you are willing to cooperate.” Sun wrung his hands together in a nervous fidget as the reflection of himself stared back.
“What- what kind of deal?” The monotone one let out a small laugh and shrugged lightly. “This one is actually beneficial for you! You see..I don’t have a Moon here. He is..out of service for the foreseeable future and I heard about your little disagreement with your Moon through the grapevine and thought you might need a little..break!”

The circumstances of this active conversation was not exactly welcome but the contents of the deal felt..nice. A break, from it all. “B-but they would know I’m gone! M-moon wou-would freak out!” The reflection stepped slightly closer.
“I could take your place if you’d want. You see..I’m running a bit of an- experiment. This place can be a paradise for any wandering Sun who has felt invalidated but those around them! But I just need..a Star.” Sun sucked in a breath and stepped away slightly.
“A paradise?” The monotone one nodded, a soft and gentle smile on his face “of course, Suns like us could always use a break from our Moons every once in a while.” There were- more like him? Did every Sun feel this way? “I could use a helper anyways and you seem to have some..experience with star power. You could be a really big help to me. So..what do you say?” The reflection reached out his hand, a silent offering. Sun was always fond of helping people- and helping for a good cause..it felt like a perfect opportunity to prove himself. Help those just like him across the dimensions! Maybe then Moon would be proud of him. He just needed to make himself worthy. Worthy of the love his family had given him.

To prove Moon he could be useful! To prove his brother wrong, to prove he wasn’t the dumb one. “..deal..just- just don’t be rude to my family..I don’t want them thinking they did something wrong..” Sun took the hand of his reflection and shook it, the deal truly sealed between the two Suns.

“perfect!” His reflection took away his hand and rubbed it against his own pants. “Now..I do have a favor to ask if you are willing to..?” Sun nodded quickly and followed the double. “I just need to copy down your information. So Moon doesn’t find anything suspicious. You know how psychoanalytic they can be.”
Sun nodded slowly as his double typed away on one of the computers. “Do you have any enemies in this dimension? We kinda have a lot in ours..” Sun sighed, not wanting to be left with these Suns problems to deal with alone. He seemed much smarter than most Suns he has seen. Well to be fair in most dimensions he was either a devoted servant or dead.. “No enemies here. I took care of them.”
Sun looked confused at the reflection. “You did?” He questioned, he hunched over slightly, it had been a long time since he had stood up for himself. It was odd even for a variant of him. “Of course. I’m not just gonna let a stupid gator go in and scam people, or have a KillCode! No Eclipse either.”

That statement confused Sun, how would he know about Eclipse? “How do you-“ The other Sun continued to type away and gave him a small glance before focusing back to the computer. “I had a Moon come visit me. I took his information much like how I’m looking at yours, since both of you managed to harness star power but differently. I assume you must have some sort of Eclipse if you are split from Moon.”

The other explained, his voice tainted with an honestly he hardly heard from his own brother anymore. “Oh.” He let out a soft sigh and gripped the side of the security desk as he was leaning against it.
“Aaaand done. Go ahead and unplug that wire.” He double commented as he quickly saved the information he collected onto a USB. The ways he needed to act around his family, his common vocabulary and most important. His ability to harness star power out of thin air.

Sure the Astrals will be an issue he will need to deal with later on but they can easily be taken care of. The wither storm might be harder to fight off but it was rumored an Eclipse variant had fought it off. “W-what do you gain from this?” Sun squeaked out, the question buzzing in his head ever since the double fabricated the strange deal.

“Me? Oh..just some things I might need to take into consideration for my own dimension. Those Astrals haven’t come to bother me yet and I need more answers about magic. Your home seems to be exploding with it. But consider this a vacation. You deserve it.” Sun nodded along and took a breath. “What can I do while I’m here? Run the daycare as normal?” Sun questioned before an important fact popped into his mind “M-my cats! Can you make sure my cats are fed while you take my place? I- don’t think the portal can support..organic matter.” Sun held his breath anxiously. “You hav- okay. Sure.” The other nodded and Sun let out a breath. “Thank you.” The other smiled and made his way to the middle of the daycare. “Of course. That's what friends are for.” Sun tilted his head at the words of his double. “Friends?” The other nodded and let out a light wheeze. “Of course, this can be the beginning of a perfect friendship.” His other smiled and made his way towards the ball pit. “I best be going before anyone notices you're gone. Or- I’m gone.”

He chuckled lightly and waved to Sun “o-Okay! I’ll keep up with the channel in case anything goes wrong and they need me back..”

Sun waved back as his double jumped back into the ball pit, leaving Sun alone in the daycare. It might not be his but at least the silence was peaceful. Here, he was appreciated, and one day this could be a paradise for others just like him! A paradise..yeah, that would be nice.

Chapter 2: Similarities and Differences

Summary:

Moon visits Ruin, and someone emerges from the ball pit!

Notes:

E!Sun will be called 'Sun' just for the sake of keeping it simple. Hope it doesn't look too weird! And this was a little rushed so let me know if I need to tweak anything or if a scene doesn't make sense

Chapter Text

Moon had been in the arcade when he first got the call from Sun, he had quickly declined it and began to walk into the back room of the Fazcade. The Room had been quiet besides the sounds of zapping electricity and a sharp yelp. “Ruin?” The bot peaked out quickly from behind the arcade cabinet.

He stiffened slightly and sat up quickly, rocking in his heels as he waved at Moon. “Good evening good ‘Gent! Is there anything I can help you with?” Moon grumbled and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

“There is. Come with me.” Moon turned around quickly and led to one of the small karaoke rooms. “What do you know about Eclipse’s return?” Ruin paused, thinking for a moment before speaking.

“I don’t really..know him? I have just heard stories..the fellow has n-not exactly been present during my stay here.” Ruin wrung his hands together, his nerves getting the better of him as the stutter from his Sun pushed forward. “B-but I would love to h..help! Whatever you need. I could utilize some old blueprints from my..past self?” He suggested, the time of the virus not being a fond thing to think about.

“I think we will be fine. It’s just..concerning that he is back. We are all pretty on our toes. Can’t trust anyone.” Moon grumbled and leaned against the wall of the rather large karaoke room.

Ruin nodded slowly and sat up, “W-well if it isn’t much trouble can I go back to the arcades..?” Moon looked at him, staring daggers at him before waving him off.

“Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary, you can go back now.” Ruin left fairly quickly, shuffling out the door as he sighed.

He picked at the paint that coated his new casing, it felt good to be out of that old shell but ever since- maybe it was best to not think about it. After returning to the back room of the arcade he fiddled with one last wire from the work he had been so abruptly turned away from.

The sound of the machine turning on quickly followed his processors and he cheered! Hopefully this one will stay operating longer than the others have. He may not have experience with arcade machines specifically, but the Moon in him surely knew how to tinker with things.

The first thing Moon noticed once he entered the daycare was the lack of lights, sure they could turn them off but it usually does turn off the light up decor..not even the computers were on. “SUNN” Moon exclaimed, his words echoing throughout the daycare but no response came. “At least I know why he called me..” He spoke aloud, the lack of any type of tune or humming that used to come from his brother filled the air ominously, it was strange being here alone. Even more when it was dead silent.

“Eh he probably went home after getting spooked because of it..Now I just need to go to parts and services to turn the lights back on..” Moon grumbled, the annoyance in his voice was clear. His distaste for the parts and service room even more so.

Moon left the daycare quickly, the silence somehow growing louder the more he stayed, just needed to get the parts and services. Turn on the lights, get back out, and go home. No more, no less, oh- well.. maybe check in Sun, but after then he is gonna take a well deserved rest.

“Portal opening” A Monotone voice emerged from the deadly silence of the daycare and the shuffling of plastic hollow balls as ‘Sun’ emerged from the ball pit. He looked around before hopping out quickly. ‘Sun’ dusted himself off and looked around at the carbon copy of his daycare, he just needed to take care of one last thing.

He made quick work as he walked over to the security desk. ‘Sun’ typed quick, the security cameras opened as he flipped through them quickly and thoroughly. He spotted
Moon on the walk back from parts and services and he was glad he little distraction proved to be successful.

‘Sun’ plugged himself into the computer and attached the USB filled with Sun’s information into one of his imports. It was almost overwhelming with how much information this dimension’s Sun had on gravel..’Sun’ shivered and put all of the information into a folder. His directives and basic instructions were kept in an easier spot to find for safer keeping, his habits and tics were next, his personality wouldn’t be hard to mimic either. And luckily this Sun didn’t talk so much anymore. This one had become more reserved over the several years of being worn down.

It only made his job easier. He just needed to convince Moon he needed a little time alone, after scoping out this dimension for far too long it was thrilling to have this plan be put into action. Sure this Moon had a lot of information, but Sun had been there since the start. He has seen it all. Unlike that dead one. It happens to most Moons at some point. Suns are always left to carry the burden of surviving.

That’s just how it worked.

He unplugged himself from the computer, leaving enough time for him to hide the cord because Moon walked in. “How else co- oh hey. You’re back? I thought you went home.” Moon muttered, not excited for the conversation he is probably gonna have to have with ‘Sun’.

His brother was always the type to avoid emotional conversations. “Just left to feed the cats. No big deal.” ‘Sun’ shrugged, the nervousness in his voice apparent as he sat in one of the chairs.

“Sun listen can we talk about the other day-? I never meant to blow up at you like that..I just- I have just been so stressed out about Eclipse and everything..I’m so sorry..” Moon held his hands close to himself and let out a small sigh. “Solar ripped me a new one after you left, kinda knocked some sense into me..”

‘Sun’ rocked in his chair nervously, scanning the files over and over before stopping once Moon stopped talking. “I-..it’s okay..? I’m uh- used to it..it’s fine. I f-forgive you.” The sickening sound of weakness in his voice was like iron on his tongue as he spoke.

Moon nodded and stepped closer to ‘Sun’, and opened his arms in a welcoming manner. “Do you uh..what a hug?” 'Sun’s' face scrunched up slightly as he reeled back away from Moon. “N-not today Moony..sorry- just uhh..need feeling it.” ‘Sun’ sat up from his seat and walked out of the daycare quickly, leaving a stunned Moon in his tracks. It had been a while since he had seen a Moon face to face.

Oh how he missed seeing that kind of look on a Moon’s face. ‘Sun’ had opened the camera feed in his head and chuckled as he watched Moon. Sure he might have gotten a bit..out of character. He didn’t want his cover blown too soon. Yet, he could care less what this Sun’s family thought of him. He would refrain from ruining this Sun’s reputation. Though he only needed Sun temporarily, and of course the extra help he had already secured.

Chapter Text

Something did stand out to ‘Sun’ during their interaction with Moon. He brought up a home. As if they weren’t already there, did these Sun and Moon no longer live in their daycare? ‘Sun’ looked within the folder of Sun’s stuff and searched for ‘home’, he opened up the GPS and allowed the map to lead him to a teleporter that led them to a nice island. “How do you get this kind of money Moon? I must say I am impressed you could actually put that brain of yours to use to make this kind of money out of it.” He thought aloud, absorbing the sunlight that had hit him.

It had been a while since he had been outside. The daycare had provided just enough security and comfort for the need to go outside to be absent. Yet, he would have to get used to this. He walked into the house, and almost jumped out of his endoskeleton as two furballs came running at him making strange noises. His CPU processed them as cats.

He has never seen a cat before.

Maybe pictures the kids painted at the daycare but those were never accurate to the real thing. He closed the door and stepped inside, not wanting to have to chase down cats if they got outside.

‘Sun’ crouched down and went to go pet the cat before it sniffed him and scurried away. He slowly began to follow the cat as the other one looked at him menacingly. “You two-? What even are your names..” He spotted a collar on the two and tried to grab the black and white discolored cat. The cat squirmed in his hold and let out a hiss. “Stop being such a baby-“ He glanced at the collar and looked back at the cat. “Comet. Of course he would be consistent with the stupid space names..” He put the cat back down and looked at the other that immediately sprinted in the other direction. “Get back here!” He reached out for the cat and skidded against the floor, causing him to trip.

He groaned and pushed himself back up, the cat looked at him expectantly. He looked around to make sure nobody saw and instead did spot something. A small bag of cat treats. ‘Sun’ grabbed the bag and shook it in front of the black cat, surprisingly, they walked forward towards him. He opened the cat and presented a small treat to the cat. Luckily it lifted its head as it ate the treat. ‘Sun’ petted the cat slowly as he read the name. Midnight was this one's name. ‘Sun’ sat back up and put the treats on the counter. Comet meowed at him and ‘Sun’ opened the hatch in his arm.

It had only been an hour or two since Sun had been left alone. Surprisingly no one was barging into the daycare asking him for money, or threatening his life. There wasn’t even anyone to belittle him. It felt wrong, maybe because everything was just too peaceful. Or perhaps he had just grown so used to it.

It wasn’t the best thing to grow used to.

Sun had been inspecting the daycare for a while, stacking the barrels and finding the attendance sheet for the children. Luckily he had till morning to get used to this place to this new daycare.

The place had been cleaned to his liking, and here no one was able to stop him with the habit. Sure he missed his family but to get away every now and then felt so good..Hopefully his temporary replacement won’t burst at the seams trying to deal with the headache of his home.

He almost felt free in a way, maybe it was wrong. He was burdening another person with the weight of his home. What kind of person would want that? Sun sighed and sat at one of the chairs at the security desk. Maybe this dimension’s Sun had some games he could play! He seemed to have good taste, he was about to turn on the computer before his head buzzed slightly.

A message?

Sun opened it and looked at the contact, it only read Sun…Oh! Right. His double, he changed to contact to ‘Sun #2’ and read the message.
‘What time do you feed your cats?’ Sun responded quickly, typing his response fluidly. ‘Around 6 pm and in the mornings at 8-9 am! Or whenever they wake me up :D’

Sun smiled and sent out the message, sure he was a little jealous of the circumstances of this dimension but he can’t be mad at his double! He probably had to go through a lot to manage such a peaceful world. Maybe he could ask sometimes.

Sun takes a look back at him computer and then sends another message to Sun #2. “What kind of games do you like playing?” He closed his arm hatch and sighed into the computer. He opened steam and scrolled through the games, he spotted one that caught his optics. The night shift, one of the games he played on the channel a while ago. He missed that. Most of the videos nowadays are pre recorded.

He already began to miss Moon, he didn’t really get any apologies from when he yelled at him..

A buzz tore him out of his thoughts as he read the new message. “Does chillapachino mean anything to you?” Sun laughed quietly at the message and messaged him back. “Chillapachinnnnnnnnoooooo” Sun leaned back into the chair, the games quickly forgotten now that he had a friend to talk to.

When was the last time he had a good laugh?

The simple lines of text had then formed into a call after a 20 minute back in forth about video games. “-and t-then I told him h-he had nothing and he j-just disappeared!” Sun laughed as he recalled the moments with Eclipse. “Jeez who knew Eclipse’s had such fragile egos.” ‘Sun’ laughed along. Petting Comet as she sat on top of him, a low vibration coming from the cat. “Sun-? Why is the cat vibrating-“ He had stopped petting the cat and the low vibration almost immediately stopped. “Aw she’s p-purring! My little sweetie bear..can you send me pictures of them?? I miss them already..” Sun whined lightly, ‘Sun’ tilted his head as he continued to pet her.

Midnight then hopped on the bed and sat on top of ‘Sun’s legs. “I have to admit they are adorable.” A quiet click could be heard as he snapped a picture of the scene and sent it to Sun.

Chapter Text

Finding the information he needed was much harder than he expected. According to the uploads on the show, KillCode had been long gone. And of course the dead Moon didn’t know anything nor would be able to. Maybe the computer would know something.

Knowing Moon he probably locked that computer up with so much security..so another one off the table.

Though while searching far back through the channel it did say that Eclipse had a base somewhere. Though it wasn’t clear how to get there, ‘Sun’ thought he could likely figure it out. He had so much time to plan how this would go and yet this dimension had been so unpredictable something was bound to go wrong..he just needed Moon to be distracted enough to leave him alone for a day or so. Maybe a bit longer depending on how far Eclipse’s base was.

Just something minor, there wasn’t much he could do that wouldn’t Moon into a frenzy right away. He knew that better than anyone. ‘Sun’ tried to list off the people closest to Moon based on their level of importance.

An idea popped into his mind, it would surely do. He just needed to pay a visit to the arcade.

According to the upload of the day Ruin wasn’t there, which matched only made ‘Sun’s work easier

He wasn’t going to hurt Ruin, heavens no! He already had someone to do that. Though, this was just a small sabotage, likely something a child in the daycare could think of.

The walk to the arcade was smooth sailing before rudely being interrupted by a certain gator. ‘Sun’ wasn’t fond of him, always greedy and arrogant. At least in his universe he was able to fix the gator and not allow him to scam anyone else, to leech off of them like a parasite.

“Heya Sunny boi..where ya headin’?” Monty grunted, and placed his hand on top of ‘Sun’s head, messing up his rays. ‘Sun’ cringed and moved away from Monty’s hand. “Arcade.” He muttered, choosing to keep his words vague in case he chose to report back to Moon. “Uh huh, so uhh..are you interested in buying a car anytime soon?” ‘Sun’ scoffed at his words, typical gator. “No, and I live on an island, how would it be delivered? And where would I drive it?” He deadpanned, giving to gator a glance up and down. “Ah god dammit, you were so much easier to sell useless crap to. What happened Sunny boi? Did Eclipse get into your head? Maybe finally learning a thing or two from that brother of yours.” ‘Sun’s smile strained and he became quiet, his patience with the money hungry gator wearing thin. “Oh hold on Earth’s called me-“ A thick layer of static became to over take his processors as Monty walked a few feet away. Giving ‘Sun’ the chance to leave before he did something stupid.

“eah- Dinner sounds good tonight, is the little guy gonna tag along? Ok cool. Yeah- I’m gonna get back to antagonizing S-“ Monty paused, looking around before realizing any trace of Sun being there suddenly gone.

He raised his arm back up to talk into the speaker located inside. “Never mind, he left, anyways what were you saying?” He inquired, not even caring for the sudden disappearance of Sun. Not his problem.

Getting down to the arcade was quiet. It was the kind of quiet ‘Sun’ preferred. Like the silence in his head, or the silence of the empty daycare after the children go home. Of course he was supposed to be the energetic one, over the years that role hasn’t seemed to fit him like it used to.

He halted as he looked at the door that led to the back of the arcade. Caution filling his servos as he walked inside.

This silence was uncomfortable, not like the silence he liked. The air felt thick and heavy, how had Ruin been living here? ‘Sun’ shivered and began to tinker with one of the arcade machines. If the computer saw him he knew his cover would be blown. That’s one of the reasons he had come down here. There was hardly any security connected to this area. He managed to connect the darn thing to the internet, working on it was much harder, but it had to do.

Scrolling through the old files had been an utterly useless waste of time, the show hadn’t provided many key details to the locations of Moon’s bunkers but one important thing did stand out that made him open the file of Sun’s information. During the time of his hunt for Eclipse he did have a bunch of bunker locations saved..he just had to find that file! ‘Sun’ let his shoulders relax as he was quickly presented with the information.

Now he was stuck, not literally of course, that would be humiliating.

He needed something to distract Moon long enough to find the bunker Moon used to teleport to Eclipse’s base. Likely the teleportation log being the only one on there since that place had been pretty much deserted. Or maybe just something to throw him off his track. ‘Sun’ had already begun to print an old blueprint that belonged to another Moon. Just something he had grabbed in case one day needing it.

Today was that day. Maybe one last thing too..it was likely childish but it was definitely going to be hilarious.

‘Sun’ grabbed some paint that looked like it hadn’t been moved in ages and opened it. It took a little longer to get a brush but eventually one was found nearby the deserted paint cans. He opened the door to the arcade machine and began to color random wires the same bright red color. All of the FazBear manuals were highly based on color coded schemes, so shuffling some around will certainly keep Ruin more busy trying to figure it out.

The name of this dimension should be just the ‘calm dimension’! There were no foes to battle, no enemies. Heck even all of the other shows don’t have any villains to battle!

Even the children were calmer!

Sun had set up a small craft children to play at, the little tots scribbled away. Most drew messy scribbles of him, or animals.

He was pulled out of his thoughts as he heard a high pitch yell and children began to crowd around the play structure. Not again-!

One of the girls, Cali, had apparently seen some people rock climbing, and since she didn’t reach the high limit for such an attraction, she had begun to climb in the daycare. At least that’s what the notes on her profile says.

This was the third time today.

Sun quickly got up from his spot at the craft table and ran over to the small crowd of children. “Cali-! Get down from there!” The little girl ignored him blatantly and continued her climb.

Sun called down the wire, it wasn’t exactly often he had to use it, but in this case it was necessary. “You are going to time out little Missy!” The girl clung to the netting of the play structure desperately and wailed.”Noooooo!” Sun pried the girl away and held her close to himself, the girl squirmed as he tried not to drop her.

It reminded him of Lunar in a way. How Lunar used to have his way with running all over the place. Sun felt a pang in his chest as he already began to feel homesick. It was only his first day here and he was missing home! He just hoped his friend was having fun spending time with a big family such as his. He seemed lonely here.

He had long since put Cali in time out whenever he finally made it back to the craft corner. One of the children had drawn him next to a stick figure of themselves and a massive sunset. Most had seemed to enjoy drawing him outside.

Though one little boy did seem a bit different from the rest. Even if he wasn’t present in this dimension he surely was present in the boy's artwork.

It was Moon.

Sun moved closer to the boy and took a good look at the picture, the blue stick figure presented with a hat and yellow stars. And a gray crayon used to make his crescent.

“What are you drawing, Liam?” Sun tilted his head at the child as he finished the picture. The boy cowered under his gaze and hid the picture.
“I know you don’t like it when we talk about Mr.Moon..but can you give this to him? I want him to have it!” Sun looked confused at the child as he took the paper in his hands.

His forced smile softened and he nodded, ruffling the child’s hair. Causing a small fit of laughter from Liam. “Alright kiddo. I’ll deliver it for you, promise! I’m sure he’ll love it!” Sun enthusiastically announced as he took the drawing carefully. “I’ll tell you what he says tomorrow okay?”

Liam nodded, clearly pleased with Sun’s response and grabbed another paper to begin another masterpiece.

He wondered how things were going back home.

Though, this was supposed to be a vacation, that’s what the other Sun said..He shouldn’t think about it.

Just 6 more days, he might as well enjoy them?

That’s what his new friend would want! And his family always told him he needed a proper break, he just needed to relax.

I finally have a good grasp on where I want this story to go so things should run a bit more smoothly for the next couple of chapters. Hope this one isn't too messy and let me know if I made any mistakes! <3

Chapter Text

The long walk back to the arcade hadn’t been pleasant. Paranoia was all Ruin had in his head as he constantly checked his surroundings. He had been locked in that room for what..hours?

Of course Solar and Moon had come to get him, and he was within the safety of the PizzaPlex now but he couldn’t help but feel like he was being watched. It was probably nothing of course! Yet the feeling was still there.

He had eventually found his way back to the arcade and sank onto the floor, pulling his knees to meet his chest. He needed someone to talk to, yet no one wanted to talk to him. They thought he was just some stupid freak for some reason! Just some amalgamation of Sun and Moon that didn’t belong in this dimension. It’s not like he could go home, his home was gone. Lost to the Wither storm, alongside everything they’ve ever known.

All they could do now was fix stupid arcade machines. Most Moons went off to build great things, yet they had a hard time paying attention to do advanced and meticulous things like that. Maybe they got it from their Sun half. It would certainly make sense.

Opening the door to one of the broken machines he could tell it was certainly different. There were too many red wires- 9 to be exact. There were only supposed to be 4 according to the FazBear supplied manual. Ruin took another glance at the manual to double check. 4 red wires were displayed in the manual. Ruin huffed and tossed the now useless manual aside. Who needs manuals anyways? He could surely figure it out.

He most certainly did not figure it out. With all of the wires getting out into the wrong place and power being led in the wrong direction one to many times it caused a loud pop and smoke to emerge from the machine. Ruin quickly unplugged the machine and stood up. He groaned and took a seat at one of the work benches.

He placed his head against the table, sighing weakly as he abruptly turned in the wheely chair. He glanced at each of the tunnels located within the back area.

Only to see a pair of eyes staring back.

Ruin’s fans stuttered as he stood up from his chair, he grabbed a flashlight on the table and flashed it in the tunnel. Inside was something quite out of a nightmare and someone he had only heard about.

It was Frank.

The strange fellow crawled out of the tunnel and crawled on all fours over to Ruin. They let out a long breath and blinked at him expectantly.

“A-are you Frank by any chance?” Ruin sputtered out, his rays pulled into his head as he cowered under the persistent gaze. The figure nodded, and let out another sigh.

Ruin said nothing to him and backed away, “I-I’ll take that as a yes..” Frank only sighed again. He looked down and turned at a perfect 180 degree and crawled back into the tunnel he came from. Frank turned back around, in the same position Ruin had first spotted him in.

The both stared at each other much longer than Ruin was comfortable with. Before he proceeded to crawl backwards farther into the tunnel.

No words could describe how much he hated that interaction. And it only made him worry more, was it really that easy for people to sneak up on him? He sleeps here! He didn’t want Eclipse to take him again! He just needed something to protect himself.

Ruin began to rummage through the drawers before spotting something that wasn’t there before. Some blueprints and a manual? The paper looked oddly new but the blueprints themselves looked a bit outdated as he skimmed through them, not even sure what exactly they were by the first glance. He turned to the front page again and had to do a double take.

An anti-magic invisible barrier. Why was it so specific?

Certainly not on brand for FazBear either so it had to be written by one of the animatronics. Moon and Solar were the smartest but that wouldn’t explain why the blueprint and manual for their invention would be there. Plus, the manual was far too new to belong to the recently dead then brought back alive Eclipse.

Did they write this? They knew looking back at the old videos that their past self used to hang out here. Maybe it’s his? That would be the only logical reason in their mind. There weren't many other potential candidates. The instructions were specific and clear, unlike the FazBear manuals that were so vague it was practically see through.

Another question remained in his mind, why anti-magic? Not many villains had been equipped with magic..but if they wrote this when they had the virus- It could have been used to counter Sun’s star magic! That’s likely what it’s intended use was for back when he was evil.

It only made it better since Eclipse had begun to utilize magic so surely this could help him..and maybe this could protect him, and he wouldn’t be a sitting duck for the next time Eclipse comes back! He hated the dingy room and didn’t plan on going back anytime soon.

They had a lot of time on their hands anyways.

One of the first observations ‘Sun’ had made about this dimension was time. Everything had always felt so rushed, you were always in some sort of hurry. Just like he had been now.

The annoying traps the dead Moon had set when getting into one of the bunkers was rather annoying. He had no clue how one could set up something like this.

That didn’t matter though, what mattered was that he needed to get this information and get out before Moon noticed he was gone. It’s not like they could track him either so it will only prompt his suspicion. He just needed more time.

The deep and narrow hallway had been hard to walk through, and hardly any light left to shine his path as he strode forward. ‘Sun’ nearly tripped as his foot had caught on something. He pressed his hands quickly on either side of the narrow walls and turned.

It was a handle?

‘Sun’ crouched down and lifted the heavy compartment. To his relief there was some light on the other side. He dropped down and looked around the room. It had been blank, besides the keypad on the farthest wall. The keypad was numbered and had clearly been used in the past. Likely for them the paint used had been rather cheap and 4 numbers had been rubbed off one, six, seven and zero were almost entirely gone.

Great, another rigged game from Moon. He presumed he only had little time until something shot out of the walls or it self-destructed. Such a classic. ‘Sun’ chuckled to himself and looked around the room. Nothing extremely out of the ordinary that might hint something might shoot out of the wall. Or anything that could kill him in an instant. Sun walked up to the keypad carefully, and punched in the numbers one, six, seven, zero. A long beep could be heard before an ear piercing screech entered his audio processors. ‘Sun’ looked around in an instant and didn’t notice anything right away.

Until the walls became closer. Were they always like that?

It didn’t take long to realize the walls were becoming closer to him.

‘Sun’s optics widened and he turned to the keypad again. He typed out the numbers seven, zero, one, six. The walls did not spot closing in on him and he typed out another variation of the numbers.

And again, and again, and again. Time had been running out.
No one would know where he was, he was gonna be nothing but scrap metal- And that stupid Moon probably wouldn’t notice his ‘precious’ brother was gone..Sun would eventually come back. They will never know what happened down here as the walls entered his peripheral vision.

Static laced over his dragging thoughts as the walls grew in closer, he was on his 17 attempt before he fell through the door as it swung open and the walls froze in their place.

He almost died.

He took a moment to sit on the floor in a feeling far surpassing pure relief. Gosh, he really hated this dimension..

He took a moment to gather his breath and looked back at the room, the walls having pushed themselves back into their original places. He hoped he never had to do that again.

‘Sun’ sat back up and looked at the old time-y computers. Surely one of these held some sort of answers for him? According to the show this bunker was used when Lunar was made. He turned on one of the computers. A giant paper clip with cartoonish eyes popped up on the screen.

Great. Some other semi-sentient computer he had to deal with. How many of these did that Moon make just to leave behind?

The voice was strange. And ‘Sun’ tried not to cringe too harshly as he typed away on the computer, ignoring the obnoxious voice. He gathered somewhere along the way its name was Clippy. Though he couldn’t find it in himself to exactly care.

That’s strange. According to the teleportation log the latest log was set to somewhere close to the sun. The literal sun, what kind of base next next to the sun??

‘Sun’ walked down the steep stairs and looked around for any obvious signs of a teleporter. He heard Clippy from the 2nd floor instruct him to stand on the table. He gave a small nod and stood on the table.

Suddenly he felt very warm. Which was a good sign, it wasn’t kidding when it said the base was near the literal sun. ‘Sun’ focused his optics and looked around the small and compact research center. It had a main computer system so hopefully it wouldn’t take long to transfer any information he needed.

Most of the stuff was junk, Eclipse’s last ditch efforts to warn Sun and Moon of their impending doom, things about the Astrals..Lunar being a Star kinda stuff. Not stuff that would interest him directly, besides Lunar being a Star..but he was here to make a Star. Not kidnap one.

It took some time before ‘Sun’ found some old files that were all about the Star and its creation. Given the fact that Eclipse is mostly just Moon besides the appearance being closer to Sun. It was obvious Eclipse spent a long time studying the star and how it works. Clearly not the fact it only works in its base dimension, though it didn’t look like he had a dimensional portal anywhere around here. It’s not like he had the space for one anyways. ‘Sun’ mainly ignored the audio files and went straight for the text files. He grabbed out a USB and began to transfer ones that he deemed important. Some incomplete blueprints for some other Star. Studies of the wither storm and its association with negative energy.

The only unfortunate part was that he was out of storage.

‘Sun’ closed all of the logs he opened up and unplugged the USB. He placed the small sanction of storage inside of his chest cavity. He set the teleporter to the main entrance of the pizza plex, he doubted he would get used to the floaty feeling of teleporting.

He quickly made his way back to the daycare. He had gotten a call from Moon as he took his time walking back to the daycare. Moon had been almost frantic, according to Moon Eclipse, had been trapped by Ruin in the back room of the arcade. ‘Sun’ grinned to himself as he listened to Moon, hoping his underlying excitement had been covered up as he began to pick up the pace. “R-really?! What d-do we do then? K-kill him?” Solar was near the entrance of the daycare. He waved to Sun and he looked at him confused before he heard Moon call out.

“Solar-! Thank god..Look I need to run and take care of this really quick..if you want to come with us that’s fine..Ruin trapped Eclipse.” Solar looked at Moon and then back at ‘Sun’. He gave him a look of sympathy before walking into the daycare. “I’ll sit this one out. Looks like your brother here is about to tear him apart.” Solar chuckled to himself as Moon took a glance at ‘Sun’. Moon walked over the ‘Sun’ and continued to walk past him.

“Let’s go. I don’t want to talk to him longer than I have to. And I’m sure you don’t want to either.” ‘Sun’ followed Moon not far behind as they made the silent walk to the arcade.

‘Sun’ paused and turned to Moon, “Do we have to kill him? Maybe we can just you know. Talk things out?” Moon turned to him in an instant.

He looked angry, thought lying underneath the surface was tiredness, simply festering under the surface of his furious expression. “Talk. It. Out? You want to talk it out. You. Sunrise. Want to talk it out with him?! You should know him better than anyone here. He doesn't deserve even that! If you wanna talk to him, go ahead. I just want to know what the hell he thinks he is doing.” Moon turned on his heel and began walking with a new found motivation.

He heard Moon grumble under his breath as they walked, ‘Sun’ hummed, typical Moon.

He tried to wipe the grin off of his face as Moon led them to the arcade where Ruin had been waiting. ‘Sun’ made his way to the back arcade room, holding the door open for him. He mainly zoned out as Ruin began to explain how he found some blueprints and praised how specific they were and how likely it was how his ‘other’ likely made the blueprints. ‘Sun’ stood not far away from the pair as he heard shift shuffling come from one of the arcade cabinets.

It felt awful to cower away like this. Moon and Ruin had been talking to him like he was some random circus animal Moon wanted to buy off of Ruin. Oil trickled down the sides of his faceplate and onto the floor with a pathetic splat. He just wanted to know why he was alive- he shouldn’t be alive!

These stupid directives are what got him here in the first place, he should have been thinking-! Obviously they would do something like this! He just wanted it all gone..The star was gone, Lunar turned on him long ago. Solar flare was likely turned to nothing at this point. He didn’t want anything to do with this place! He just wanted to figure out who made him- and who better than the odd one out!

It was humiliating.

Being degraded to something pathetic like this.

He hated it. He was an Eclipse! And now he is practically equivalent to the dirt collected on the arcade machines. He held his breath and let it out as he tugged on his rays. Eclipse froze as he heard his name being called, the hostility in Moon’s voice clearer than the day itself. He emerged from behind his hiding spot, Moon scowled at him as he looked at him.

Moon walked over to him as much as the barrier allowed and looked down at him, his frame shook as Moon stared at him. “Oh how the mighty have fallen.” Moon crouched down on Eclipse’s level, red irises meeting pure white ones.

Eclipse grumbled at Moon’s comment and stood, his feet wobbling from beneath him. “Wow. Such a classic. Really brings back good old memories doesn’t it Moon?” He cackled and whipped an imaginary tear from his optic. Recalling his very much real ones from a moment before

Moon snarled in response, Ruin looked at them nervously before slowly stepping away. “I-I’ll leave him to you good ‘gents..good luck.” Ruin casted a look to Sun, who Eclipse just noticed was a ways behind Moon. Who tore his eyes away from Ruin and back on the darkened sun standing before him.

“I want you to answer one question for me.” Moon growled, his optics burning with a rage that could only remind Eclipse of the Moon he had once been.

He sat on the cold concrete floor, his hands rested nearly in his lap as he stared at Moon with a bored expression. “What might that be, Moon?” Eclipse asked, taking a glance at Sun in the background before turning his focus back to Moon.

Moon tilted his head and begrudgingly crossed his arms over his chest. His posture straightened as he looked down at him. He took a deep breath, his shoulder risen and tense. “What possibly stupidity possessed you to come here and try to wreck everything I HAVE BUILT?! Huh?? I woke up and suddenly I’m tossed into a conflict I had NO part in! And I solved it! I thought-! I thought I solved it. And now you are back. WHY. Are you back?!” Moon paced in front of the barrier and threw his hands in the air, his frustration so concentrated it was almost tangible.

Eclipse sighed, clearly annoyed with the toddler-like tantrum Moon was throwing. “You think I wanted to come back? HA! I knew you were stupid but this stupid?!” Moon suddenly indulged him by slamming his fist against the barrier, a small echo of the hit rippled in the barrier. Moon took a deep breath and stood back, taking a glance at Sun who revealed to be seemingly un-phased. Moon tore himself away from the barrier as if it burned, tearing his hand away in an instant. Eclipse looked up at him, his smile strained as Moon left the room, fussing on his way out. “You talk to him while I figure out what to do with him.” Moon gestured to Sun as he left the room.

The air was heavy as he walked in front of the barrier, his hands neatly behind his back and his posture straight. It felt off, the nature of Sun usually nervous or anxious, how much could he have changed since he was gone? Certainly couldn’t have been this much..

Eclipse almost crumbled under his gaze, the milky white eyes never quite giving away where he was looking. “Well this is interesting isn’t it? It’s nice to finally talk to you, Eclipse.” Sun grinned, the nature of the situation making feel much more trapped than he already was.

Eclipse sat confused by his statement, the carefully picked words making him question a few things. “Why are you so calm? Aren’t you supposed to be afraid of me” Eclipse inquired, suddenly hoping for Moon's quick return if it meant getting him away from this psycho. Who looked like he was about to snap, again.

Sun smiled to himself, a small hum escaping his voice box. “You know I should be. But you know, I could always tell Moon about those directives of yours? I'm sure you’ve been dying to get them removed.”

If his face could turn pale, it would have. Sun knew about the directives. He knew about the directives! He must have noticed the utterly long pause, which the other must have surely found strange, since Eclipse practically loved to hear the sound of his own voice. Sun crouched down to his level where he was currently sitting.

His smile was sickeningly sweet, it almost made him want to crawl out of his own casing. “Let’s make a deal.” Eclipse raised his eyes to look into Sun’s, his voice soft and laced with a poisonous undertone.

His fans sputtered as he digested everything, Sun continued before he could even say anything. “You play dumb, and I don’t tell Moon. Got it?” He pressed a finger to the barrier that looked to be aimed to the center of his faceplate before he pulled his hand away. Standing back up and keeping his hands behind his back. Eclipse slowly nodded, the dread present on his face as he backed away from the walls of the barrier.

Eclipse looked back up at the figure that had once been beaten and battered by him, only for the roles to be reversed as of late. The confidence is clear in his stance. The smile was ominous and filled with pride he had never seen from any Sun variant across the universes he has seen. Eclipse nodded, “fine. Deal.” He stood, his shoulders slumped and his rays shrunken resembling a scared dog.

Sun clapped happily, his smile never fading even after Eclipse backed away and remained stationed behind the arcade machine he had originally emerged from.

Sun allowed his smile to slowly fade, the sound of a door creaking open, he heard the sound of their signature bells 5 to be exact. He glanced to see Moon had returned.

“Where did he go?” Moon questioned, as he stepped next to Sun he peaked around some of the arcade machines.

Sun began to pick at the paint that coated his casing, a this often this dimensions Sun did. “Behind the Freddy in Space arcade machine.” He monotoned, Eclipse peaked out from behind said machine.

Moon almost laughed at the pathetic display. “Christ- what the hell did you say to him? He looks like a sopping wet dog-!” Moon snickered, he held a palm to his face as he laughed at who had been previously known as his mortal enemy, and then degraded to a mere pest they couldn’t get rid of.

Sun smiled towards Eclipse and huffed out a laugh. “Just let off some steam, that’s all.”

Moon continued to laugh, missing the knowing look between the two animatronics.

Chapter Text

Time for him was getting close to running out. The change in rate from his original time zone had sent him into a spiral. His sense of time flipped around more times than he can count; he had begun to set reminders for himself about how much time had passed.

It had been getting around day 24 by the time he had begun to rush things, for the Sun currently taking residence in his home, had only been on day 6. ‘Sun’ sighed to himself, walking along the path then led him back to one of this Moon’s old bunkers.

With Moon not there most of the time and typically hanging out with Solar it led him to being able to get away more. Lucky for him he had been rather busy with working out something with Eclipse and being highly suspicious of poor Ruin.

It had only taken him an hour of searching during his first couple of days to find out the Sun here didn’t have a personal computer. She he couldn’t steal one from the daycare.

So ‘Sun’ had gone snooping. The random coordinates gathered neatly, and a description of each bunker. It didn’t take a genius to tell this Sun was a neat freak.

It had only taken him a day of searching to find a suitable base. He set up a small teleporter within the closet of his room, not like Moon came in here often anyways. It would take real searching on his end to find it. And this base was gonna have to do.

It had a working computer, which he very much appreciated. His current project had so far proved to be working out rather well in his favor. The blueprints for such an advanced machinery such as the star had begun to look more like a star rather than a blank page. The ability to cross reference with this world's star and its original design had seemed to make things run much smoother. Why couldn’t he have come here sooner? Even the cats were a joy to have around when they weren’t trying to rip up his clothes while making biscuits.

Maybe he should get some cats of his own when he has to return back to his own home.

It was almost funny how he had already begun to get used to the pattern of this world, people came and went but always came back. Though one thing he will never get used to is how spontaneous things can be. It can never be properly predicted. As of recently he supposed he had been rather distant with the celestial family, so it should have been clear that they would try to check in on him.

Like they had been right now.

When he had gotten home from his short lived stay at the bunker, Moon, Solar, and Earth had all been sitting down in the living room of the beach home. The quiet murmurs dying down the moment he walked in. ‘Sun’ gave them a confused look before Moon mimicked the sound of clearing his throat. ‘Sun’s attention then fell to him.

Moon looked between Solar and Earth before looking back at him. “Sun- uhh listen..You haven’t been home a lot and I know you have been really there a lot when me and Solar are working and none of us have really seen you? Even Earth asked Lunar and he said no..I- we just wanted to make sure you were okay..” Moon whispered nervously.

‘Sun’ shrugged lightly at Moon’s words and mimicked a wave of nervousness creeping into his voice. “W-well I’ve been..around? I- I have just been cleaning your old bunkers because uhh..” His mind buzzed as he tried to think of an excuse. “In c-case we need them again?” He let out a soft breath he had been holding in, Earth simply nodded and Moon somehow looked more concerned.

Moon stepped closer to ‘Sun’ only for him to step back, Solar gave a glare to Moon and he immediately sat back down. Moon tried, and failed, to not look worried as he was. “I just know you clean when you're stressed- and I know everything with Eclipse and us working with him can be a lot..I just want to make sure you're okay Sun.” Earth nodded towards Moon, which clearly gave the whole plan away.
They just needed Earth to mediate in case he didn’t want to cooperate. ‘Sun’ held his hands tightly together. The awkward circumstances of the conversation brought a small grimace to his face.

Moon moved Solar's hand away, standing up once he noticed the discomfort on the others face. He made a move to take the sun-themed animatronic’s hands in his. Only to be met with a startled face on the other as he pulled his hands away in an instant. Moon tilted it head to the side. “Sun- I’m not gonna hurt you..we are just worried about you.”

He felt as the back of his mid thigh hit the dining table, Moon had been hunched over, as if he was scared if he appeared even an ounce of a threat that his brother would shut down in front of him.

He hated this. This Moon hadn’t even hurt him, and all he could remember was the horrible treatment back home. That moment the control he had worked so hard to conjure had almost disappeared within that moment. ‘Sun’ took a metaphorical breath.

The tension was high in the room as the 3 pairs of eyes looked at him, one full of concern, the other of boredom and the last full of worry and anticipation.

His expression faded, filled with a strange sense of dread as he pulled himself back into reality.

He walked past Moon and up the stairs, knowing the move he just pulled had clearly been risky. ‘Sun’ entered his room, and quietly closed the door.

He sat around for a moment, listening to the conversation he could hardly make out. He watched as one cat came out from under the bed. Comet quickly jumped on the bed and rubbed herself all over the pillows before settling on the soft pile.

‘Sun’ smiled at this, he stood up from the bed and stretched, small pops came from his joints as he opened the door to the closet. The same an compact teleporter set near a small empty space in the corner. A little cube just like the one in the mindscape. Maybe this could give him a free hour or two to get some work done.

No one would notice him gone for a little bit. As long as he locked the door and wasn’t gone for too long. It shouldn't be a big deal.

A small sound of scraping wood entered his processor. He looked towards the door to find a small black paw clawing from under the door.

He laughed weakly at the display and opened the door for Midnight, only to also see Earth waiting on the other side. ‘Sun’s eyes widened, he looked up. Earth had been looking back at him with a small gentle smile.

She crouched down as she wordlessly entered his room. ‘Sun’ stood still, he had never really met an Earth before and he hoped to avoid interacting with her as much as possible. The lack of preparation leaves him practically stumbling to find the right things to say.

Earth had cut him off, noticing his struggle to find words. “It’s okay Sun, we are all just worried about you. You know..if I blocked myself out from you all for almost a month..I’d hope yall would try to check on me. We just want to make sure your okay Sun-“

He nodded to her words, absentmindedly petting Comet on the pile of pillows. “I’m fine, just need some time to think..you know? Cleaning helps- I don’t need y'all worrying about me.” He held his breath, a small jolt came from him as Earth placed a hand on his shoulder, though she didn’t seem to notice.

Earth hummed to his words, though the physical contact had not been appreciated.

His ‘sibling’ smiled at him again. “Well you can always talk to me, you know? I know talking to Moon can be hard after everything you went through. But you don’t have to be afraid of him”

‘Sun’ cut her off suddenly, “I’m not afraid of him.” He corrected, his fingers dug into his pants.

Earth seemed a little stunned by his comment but continued. She cleared her metaphorical throat, “Maybe we can all just watch a movie? Princess and the pauper? Like usual?” she asked. By the time she suggested the title of the movie ‘Sun’ had already looked up how long the duration of the movie would last. Including potential conversation and the high possibility of passing out during the movie, he simply couldn’t spare that time.

“S-sorry Earth..not today, I need to clean, okay? Just..I want to be left alone.” He whispered out, the undertones of his true annoyance never present.

Earth took the hand off of his shoulder and instead placed it on his rays, lightly swinging the metal triangle side to side. “If that’s what you wish.” She said in a somber tone, she slowly pulled her hand away and left his room.

Hastily, after she had left the room he stood up, making sure his footsteps were quiet so as to not alarm those downstairs.

He quietly locked the door and glanced at the bed to see Midnight cuddled up next to Comet. He smiled, and grabbed a small bag of food he had stored here. Just in case and quickly fed the cats before walking back into the small closet.

Just 6 more days, and then the deal will be done. He will get all the answers he needs by then.

Placing his hand against the cube was a familiar habit, quietly being teleported elsewhere.

He readjusted to the new setting and looked around, only for a red blur to launch itself as him. He looked for the assailant desperately only to feel a prick on the back of his head and for everything to slowly fade to black.

His head had been spinning, the lights slowly peeking through his optics as he had fully awoken. He didn’t know what to expect, surely it wasn’t whatever this monstrosity was before him. ‘Sun’ held his head, feeling as though it would pop off if he didn’t hold it steady. There had been talking, a deep rumbling voice he had never heard before, then to a much more familiar one. Though clearly the cheap effects that laced on top of the familiar voice hadn’t been great at concealing the person on the other side. The darkened red figure stood in front of him. A hood covering their figure and a lengthy cape.

Don’t even get him started on the smell, causing a worsening in his headache before he immediately turned off the feature.

“Look other! The Sun-man is awake!” The animatronic cheered, it was at this moment he wished he stayed unconscious.

“Yes, other me..the sunny one has awoken!” A much lighter voice escaped from the same body he had to do a double take. It wasn’t a surprise at this point to see two people in the same body, yet he hadn’t met anyone like them before. ‘Sun’ quickly opened up the folder holding all of Sun’s general information and skimmed through it. Apparently their name was Bloodmoon.

‘Sun’ looked to his right, a smaller figure somehow being even more terrifying. It looked like some sort of roadkill had been covered with a burlap sack and given a mouth. Luckily for him, he didn’t have a stomach, or else its contents would’ve said hi to the outside world. He again checked the folder but this time no information had been showcased on the grotesque figure.

“What limb should we go for first brother? The precious rays? Maybe an eye!”

While those two duo-personality morons were busy fantasizing about his death, the eerie figure had its eyes on him. The dark and empty sockets were beyond unsettling.

‘Sun’s hands balled into fists, quietly calculating how to get out of the mess he had found himself in. The bars were thick, but rusting. Likely the lock of the cell should be easy to break due to the brittle structure of the lock itself unless it was jammed.

Sun glanced between the short one and the even shorter one. The small mound of burlap snapped its neck at him, tilting its head in an inorganic way. He cringed at the sight and moved closer to the wall. The figure moved back and away from the door, the hooded crazies entered the cell with ease.

Clearly no one had ever heard of a proper lock.

Suddenly, ‘Sun’ stood, the figure laughed like a maniac and crouched near the floor in a pouncing position. “Oh so the food wants to play!” They cackled, ‘Sun’s eyes widened, they wanted to eat him? Surely that would be good.

For his sake he hoped he wasn’t tasty.

He shivered at the thought and looked at Bloodmoon. The emotion in their eyes seemed hungry and filled with anticipation. The swirls for eyes made his, already frazzled, brain dizzy. Were the swirls moving?

His feet felt light as if he would fall right through the floor if he didn’t move. ‘Sun’ stood hoping his height might disencourage Bloodmoon from his need to kill him. He couldn’t lose all this progress he made-

He lifted his foot slowly and took a hesitant step back, only for his feet to never touch the floor.

They dashed at him quickly, causing him to topple to the floor as the red and white swirls only grew brighter. The short predator pinned him to the floor, his head felt so heavy he could hardly pick it up.

Until they did it for him, only to slam it back into the floor, again and again.

The sounds of the back of his head hitting the hard rock floor echoed through the walls of the cell.

He screamed, the fragile wires being pinched between the back of his faceplate and the floor. He reeled his fist back, throwing most of his weight into the punch. His knuckles blossomed with pain as he watched Bloodmoon get thrown into the cell’s bars.

A loud echo made its way throughout the dingy room. They groaned and bared their teeth, lunging back at him only to be caught in the middle of their jump.

His hand squeezed around Bloodmoon’s neck and slammed him against the wall. The light within their optics flickered before reverting back to their dimly lit eyes. The haze left ‘Sun’ in an instant, the newfound strength allowing him to crush the fragile metal pipe of his assailant and kidnapper.

The short burlap sack plush that looked to be a prop from a horror movie began to speak. The thick voice effects almost made the voice hard to comprehend. “Sigma gamma” He froze, slowly turning to the shorter creature and giving the neck of his partner in crime a squeeze. The hostile predator clawed at his hands. Low grunts and pained whines left their voice box. “Code 35275 shut down protocol” This time, ‘Sun’ gave the small one a glare.

“N-Not playing fair! You aren’t supposed to fight! You’re supposed to run!” Bloodmoon grunted and dug his claws into ‘Sun’s arm.

‘Sun’ stood, still manhandling Bloodmoon from around the neck and raised him. He smiled and tossed him off to the side as if he was a toy he suddenly got bored of.
Next, he turned to the run down plush. Cringing slightly as he looked at it up close. The amalgamation of spare parts and thick material. A small sound of static akin to a radio wave came from its voice box.
“I said Sigm-” He cut him off quickly, and kicked them against the nearest wall, the small and slim frame that laid beneath the scrapped materials rattled inside.

It stood up again, seemingly not pained by the damage given to the frame. Slowly he calmly walked in front of the little plush. “I know what you said.”

The thin metal legs held within the burlap collapsed, the arms of the critter tried to keep itself balanced. ‘Sun’ moved his foot, lightly kicking the cheap bot to flip it over. It wheezed, a laugh emerging from its voice box. “Ah. An inter dimensional one. You know..I always suggested the locking protocols to be the same across the dimensions in case of a scenario such as this. I guess your ‘father’ thought you were..better than the rest of them. Tell me, how is a Sun without its Mo-“ ‘Sun’ rested his full weight against his foot. The fragile voice box crushing under the weight. Warbled static left the voice box before it went quiet, saved for the pathetic whines of the hooded one.

He lifted his foot off the disgusting discarded plush. ‘Sun’ then turned to the cell where the other animatronic had been. They struggled to even stay on their feet. “What are you?!” They groaned, their hands clutched against their dented throat pipe. “The little Sunspot could hardly hold a barrel! What happened to you? The other Sun-man got into your head? Becoming just like that brother of yours?” They grinned at him, their optics attempted to flicker on before a small zap sounded from within their faceplate. “AGH! Stupid eyes- when we get the chance we will rip and maim! Tear and satisfy our hunger-“ a loud slam echoed throughout the small dungeon.

Metal grinded against metal and it took a single beat before Bloodmoon, the new occupant of the cage had realized what happened. “Let us out!” The deeper voice shouted, baring their teeth.

“No.” ‘Sun’ explained easily. A small smile tugged its way onto his face as he ignored the growls and snarls from the animatronic. He laughed at their struggle, the metal would break eventually. He just couldn’t let them get in the way yet.

“I am much better than both of them, I'm trying to make things right. You, my friend, are stopping me from doing that. Now I’m going to go home. And you're going in time out. Have fun.” He snickered, the conjoined twins threw themselves against the wall as they tried and miserably failed to escape the cell without a lock.

It took some walking before he saw some light, it was high up. He looked at the wall and up towards the exit within the sky. Hopefully this world’s Sun had some spare pants lying around since these were about to get ruined after he finished climbing. He took a moment to gather himself, the back of his head still pounding. Maybe he should make sure nothing was wrong with his wires when he got back to the island.

The echoes of the metal rattling and sharp claws swiping at their cage, the plethora of swears had begun to get rather annoying.

He scoffed at their immaturity, they were acting like some of the daycare kids in this world. Maybe it was good he gave them a little timeout.

He tried to check the time whenever the feral one’s were finally out of earshot and hummed in disappointment when he realized his time must have been malfunctioning. There is no way he was gone for 2 weeks right?

Chapter Text

Moon knocked lightly on Sun’s door, he hadn’t left ever since their small attempt at an intervention. He shouldn’t have surprised Sun with his abnormal behavior, it felt necessary. There hadn’t been an answer at the door, only the sound of two cats using the scratch post. He felt bad if he invaded Sun’s privacy, he just wanted to make sure his brother was okay.

After Earth left he wanted to check in on Sun, though she made it clear to give him time. It was clearly something he needed. Even after not being directly involved with the partnership with Eclipse the stress in the background was certainly affecting him.

He hesitated before knocking again on the door, the knock echoed throughout the room, the only reply being the meow of a cat.

“Brother? I just want to make sure you’re okay..at least give me a sign that you are at least there.” Moon sighed and listened closely for anything, the bell of his shoes, a mechanical beep or whorl. Nothing came, Moon again knocked of his door louder. “Sun please- I’m sorry for trying to force a family meeting..We were all just worried about you..I just-” Moon's voice laced with sadness as he listened for his brother. Only for nothing to ever return his words.

He lifted a set of keys from his pocket, slowly going through the different ones before finding the one he needed. “I’m coming in.” He sighed and placed the key within the door and twisted. The door creaked open and out ran two cats. They seemed to go downstairs, likely to their water bowl since they didn’t have one in Sun’s room. He hesitantly walked into Sun’s room. The flag is still surprising up and not ripped down yet.

The most concerning part was the emptiness of Sun’s room. Sure it was a little messy and cluttered but the lack of his brother being in his room surely made it feel at least a little empty.

He was clearly confused for a moment. Sun usually didn’t leave the house unless he was running the daycare most of the time. It was hard to find him out of the house anymore. Yet, suddenly he was gone? Moon stepped inside, a feeling of unease filled him as he did so.

Maybe he had left for cat food? Moon checked the drawer and he saw Sun hide a small bag, which he called a backup just in case. There was a full bag there. Surely there was something around here that could give him some peace of mind.

He felt bad for snooping, it’s not like he was looking for anything specific! He just cared about Sun and wanted to make sure he was okay.

Moon checked around for a note, maybe just was staying at the daycare? Nobody was using their old rooms anyways. Moon shuffled the things around his table and bed, yet no note had been found.

Anxiety plagued Moon's systems, had Eclipse done something to him? He quickly dialed his brother's number, only for the call to never go through. He tried again, only to receive the same outcome as the first time.

Next, he called Solar, they had been taking up living at the daycare full time. Maybe they had seen Sun drop by or something?

He clicked on Solar’s contact and called him, the other picking up after the second ring. “What’s up?” His voice a calm unlike Moons, “have you seen Sun? He’s not in his room and I never saw him leave and there isn’t a note anywhere and he isn’t picking up-“ Moon rushed out. His protective brotherly instincts kicked in rather quickly.

“Moon calm down, he is probably just blowing off steam, he needs to distress anyways.” Solar monotoned, clicking of a keyboard could be heard before he paused. “That’s strange.”

Moon hummed and heard the clicking abruptly stopped. “What? Did you find him?” Moon left Sun’s room, missing the dimly lit cube within his closet.

Solar huffed, static laced through the call as he did before he responded. “It says the computer can’t track him, like no signal. At all. Most recent log was from almost a month ago. The tracking signal hasn’t been active since.”

Moon hung up on Solar, dialing Sun and praying to whatever god existed would let him hear the sound of his brother's voice. “Hey what’s up?” Sun’s cheery voice answered, Moon knew better. “I’m actually not at the phone. Everyone keeps doing these though! Leave a message after the beep.” A long beep played and Moon sighed, his voice almost cracking as he spoke. “Hey Sun..can you please just let me know you are okay? I’m sorry we were all really pushy and you have a right to be angry.. I just- I’m worried about you. And I care about you. Just tell me when you’re coming home.” Moon allowed the voice message to be sent and he sat on Sun’s bed.

The realization didn’t kick in right away, only after the voicemail was sent did it come to him. “He’s missing- My brother is missing..” Nasty thoughts flooded his mind as he was on the verge of weeping. If only he hadn’t pushed it brother so much. Did he run away? How long had he been preparing for this..a month? Possibly even more. Why didn’t he notice sooner? It felt worse knowing he didn’t take his cats, he left it all behind- He will make sure they are well fed for when Sun comes back.

Moon felt so sick. Now he had to deal with Eclipse alone. He promised Sun it would be them together. It had always been them before and after the reset.
Before he knew it his vision was thrown into a swirl of colors, when did he get here? Moon took some time to reorient himself to the surroundings of the daycare before he left a large pair of arms wrapped around him. It was Earth, he shakily let out a breath and clung to her. “He’s gone..” Moon sank to the floor, Earth came down with him and sat down, Lunar stood near him off to the side.

“No he isn’t. I’m sure Sun will come back when he is ready. We pushed too much..we just need to give him time.” Earth sighed and looked up at Solar, who gently nodded.

Moon settled into the hug pile and was almost stunned as Solar stepped in too. Earth brightened up and dragged him into the hug pile. Lunar climbed over into Solars lap, he rested his head on Moon's shoulder. A silent moment of peace within the family as Earth squeezed them all together.

Where are you, brother?

For him it had been quite the waiting game. The daycare had been closed and it was getting close to charging time. He had been sitting on the security desk as he waited for his inter-dimensional counterpart to return.

Now that he thought about it, the waiting game wasn’t much fun. He rested against the desk and occasionally glanced at the ballpark. Sure his vacation had been nice but he needed to get back to his family.

It wasn't a while later before he had begun to get worried, he wasn’t answering any of his calls. Typically he had been more kind with him, answering his calls and it surprised him more than a few times that he didn’t have one of those rude voicemails like everyone at home did. It often aggravated him and forced him to change his as well.

Surely something came up, maybe Moon is making him busy with all of the Eclipse stuff! Or perhaps he had mistaken the day?

This universe he was supposed to be smarter than that. There is no way he would make such a mistake. They had barely talked on the phone a few hours ago.

A small image in the corner of his optic display appeared. The flashing bright red annoyed him to no end. Of course, now he has a low battery. Sun sighed and left his perch on the security desks. Giving the daycare a once over before leaving to walk to the teleporter in the main lobby.

Having a teleporter there was honestly a bad idea, imagine a guest or curious child made their way into their room? Maybe he could ask his counterpart about it. If this was to become a paradise it needed to be safe!

Sun made his trek up the stairs and pressed his hand against the teleporter. Only to appear on the balcony of his temporary bedroom. Sure he missed the set up, it will always have a place in his mechanical heart. Though, the bed was much more comfortable back home. Hopefully they will come back soon and he could be able to pet his cats and snuggle in his own bed!

Sun plugged himself in and his worry only grew, luckily the daycare was closed on Mondays.. he could sort this out by the time his friend came back!

He allowed himself to slip into rest mode, allowing him to be pulled from sleep as soon as a disturbance was present. Maybe he was waiting for everyone to go to bed back home before he came back. That was probably it.

Sun relaxed against the stiff bed and slowly fell asleep.

By the time he woke up the next morning was when he had begun to get seriously worried. His friend still hadn’t returned and he wasn’t home. Sun jumped down into the ball pit and contemplated his options, he already called that other Sun. He never picked up, Moon was an immediate no go. If he knew what he did Moon would likely never forgive him. Even if he had good intentions! He just needed to keep this hidden for a little longer, then he could show off how useful he really is!

Maybe he could sneak home and swap places then? The portal was likely open and he could just hide out until they could swap places!

Sun opened up his arm hatch and settled near the center of the ball pit. He clicked the home button and for a moment he felt as light as a feather.

Till he didn’t.

Sun checked the small display screen and hummed ‘error 404 dimension lock. Request pending.’ Sun stayed confused and clicked again, only for the message to flicker again. Why did he need a request? He was going home! He shouldn’t need a request to come home! Hopefully the computer would let him through. Unless they told Moon. Would Moon even let him come back?

Sun knew he needed to come home. He couldn’t let them deal with Eclipse alone! He pressed his hand against the floor, balancing himself as he stood. He heard there was a Monty here. Perhaps he could offer some help! Sun stood up with a new found hope as he began the walk to gator golf. Surely this gator had to be much more approachable than the one at home. Perhaps he won’t even try to scam him.

He just needed to get home, it shouldn’t take too long.

Chapter Text

Turns out the gator had gotten significantly nicer than when he last saw him. Gator golf wasn’t covered in toxic sewage and Monty didn’t immediately try to ask for his wallet to borrow.

Instead, they offered him a seat on the bench while they went to grab their computer. Sun smiled at the polite gesture and did just so. “Alright yer tellin’ me you need to go to a..different dimension. And the portal ain’t workin’?” Sun nodded, Monty sighed and pulled Sun into the computer to gather a better look. “Well ya know I don’t really leave gator golf. And I hardly know how yer little portal thingy works? I’ll still help though, just uh might not be the best help.” Monty gruffed as he typed with his claws that were noticeably trimmed down.

He watched him work out of the corner of his eyes, the same little message popping up on his screen ‘Error 404 dimension lock. Request pending.’ Sun groaned and placed his head in his hands. Monty seemed to have caught on and closed the computer. “Ya know I don’t specialize in this stuff. Yer better off on your own rather than me. You’re the smart one. You gotta figure it out.” Monty closed the computer and unplugged Sun, handing his back the small cord and holding the computer. Sun waved him off as he mopped on the bench at Gator Golf. Out of all people Monty was the one to give him encouragement? Jeez, what happened to them? Some kind of nice person code?

Sun huffed out a laugh at that thought, yeah, like that was possible.

It had been almost 8 days since Sun had disappeared. What was the most confusing was his last ping according to the computer. It had been at the ball pit. Though Sun had still been all over the place even after that. Had the computer just not picked it up? Maybe he damaged his tracker while jumping off the balcony like he normally did as a stunt for the kids.

Though, right now he was heading to the arcade. He ordered Eclipse to meet him there a long ago so he should be there by now unless he wanted a nasty shock. Earth, Lunar and Solar had all been clearly devastated due to the disappearance of their brother. Falling into each others comfort while Moon took on the new, temporary, role of eldest sibling.

He made his way up the stairs through the arcade. The bells that adored his hat swung with each step. A set of rays peaked over the plethora of arcade machines, some containing the high scores and other with a strange glitch of purple. Moon stopped near him, leaning against one of the arcade machines.

Eclipse looked at him with his pinprick white eyes, before gazing at another section of the room. “What do you need from me?” Eclipse crossed his arms over his chest.

Moon sighed and stared daggers at the darkened Solar animatronic. “Have you noticed any odd behaviors in Sun?” Moon muttered, it felt humiliating that he had to ask the enemy about his own brother. Though no one else had come up with anything logical.

Eclipse laughed slowly, “I do, but I want something first.” Moon perked up at this. There was no way he knew something he didn’t. Sun told him almost everything!

He straightened suddenly, attempting to make himself feel taller than he was. It had been almost disturbing interacting with Eclipse due to their height difference. “What do you want?” He grumbled, the pure unsatisfaction of having to accept his deal for intel.

Eclipse smiled, the unwavering grin as he proposed his side of the deal. “I tell you what I think is going on with Sunny boy and you take off the stupid shock collar. I’m not your dog.”

Eclipse snarled, and Moon laughed at the irony. “You say that and act like you don’t need a muzzle too.” He sarcastically stated, as he looked at Eclipse's struggle to maintain himself. “Fine, I'll get rid of it. Just- tell me.” He calmed slowly, wiping away an imaginary tear from his face.

Eclipse stilled and held his hands behind his back. “I think Sun..brought me back. He knows something none of you idiots do! And his stare..something isn’t right up here.” He said, pointing towards his head.

Moon cackled, a full blown laugh as he held his ‘stomach’ he grabbed into the arcade machine for support. “My brother! Sun! Made you? HA! Yeah yeah. Show me some real evidence and maybe I might give you a treat, doggy.” Moon continued to laugh, the insanity of the situation only caused him more unstable laughter.

The darkened Sun had a desperate expression on his face, much like the one he did way back when he killed him the first time. “Well I don’t have any other evidence besides your magic pool, which I found.”

Moon was too busy laughing while Eclipse stood. He crossed his arms over his chest until Moon's laughter subsided. Replaced with a state of annoyance he hadn't seen before. “And you thought you shouldn’t maybe..Tell me that?!” Moon pointed an accusatory finger at Eclipse. Jabbing the finger in the center of his chest.

The darkened Sun grinned and laughed weakly. “Maybe. The thing is. That magic pool is an exact replica of your old one.”

Moon stood confused, he never made one and hardly anyone knew how to make a magic pool. “And?” He asked, nudging him to continue and explain.

“And. Only three people knew how to make magic circles and know what yours looks like.” Eclipse lifted up his hand and began to count them off. “The smart you, Golden Freddy and Sun.” He raised his hands to his head and made an audible ‘boom’. “Mind blowing huh.” He stared sarcastically,

He ignored the obvious jab at his intelligence and put a hand on his head, resting once more against the arcade machinechine. “Uh huh. There are many people that would have stolen it. It was uploaded to the channel for Christ sake!” Moon groaned and sank to the floor. The lack of leads to his brother's location aggravated him and Eclipse’s voice only added to that flame.

Eclipse rolled his eyes and looked at Moon's pathetic display. “Search his room or something. I’m sure you might find something valuable.” Eclipse began to walk off to the back room of the arcade and closed the door. Leaving an agitated Moon and still, no Sun in sight to comfort or call him down.

He ended up being more angry as he walked back to the daycare. Solar had been working on the computer for a while and perked up as Moon entered. Only to look back at the computer due to his visible display of disappointment.

Without looking away from the screen he spoke up, “Nothing?” He said slowly. Moon nodded and took a seat at the other chair.

Solar glanced up at the balcony and turned his chair to face Moon, “Computer said a dimensional ping was sent from a black listed dimension. Apparently they want in. I told him to wait till you got back but I’m sure you don’t wanna deal with that. 127 pings have been sent already and I’m surprised it hasn’t overloaded the computer.” Solar said blankly before turning his chair back.

Moon took a glance at the ball pit and back at Solar before giving him a nod of approval. “Good call. I really don’t. We just need to find Sun right now..” Moon held his hand in the other and sat down in the security desk’s chair with an audible grunt.

Moon slowly raised his hands above his head and stretched, his joints popped and relaxed as a small relief filled his tense body. “He tried saying Sun made him. Since his magic pool is a perfect replica of my old one and Sun knew how to make it. Though, it was uploaded on the channel so a lot of people could have it. So dead end.” Solar barked out a laugh at Moon's retelling of Eclipse's accusation.

“WOW he must’ve gone insane..” Solar began to type away until he stopped. His fingers ghosted over the keyboard as he loaded up the information. He had begun to look into possible spikes of energy in case Sun had been using his star power to knock out his signal but the graph gave a much deeper insight. “You might wanna see this..” Solar turned the computer towards Moon, the screen displayed a graph, and two locations were marked. Their house and the daycare, Moon strained his eyes as he looked at the marked locations.

Over the course of the last month a burst of energy came from his house and simultaneously in another location, an unmarked location. Sure they had the teleporter that got them from the house to the Daycare. Though, these were different, they weren't at all like the technology Moon used. It had been clearly different according to the graph, the unlabled technology was certainly something Moon hadn't even begun to conjure. Since they weren’t his..what was his brother doing? What had he not been telling him?

Chapter Text

Lunar had been living with Moon ever since Sun disappeared. Quickly taking on the role of handling the cats as Moon worked consistently. Midnight often stayed in Sun’s room, which he had taken over. Comet liked to sleep in the cat tree located in the living room. Moon had been in his workshop for most of the time, working on some type of advanced tracker. Solar had been by Moon’s side most of the time. Simply watching his progress and calming him down through most of his fits.

Earth had been staying with Monty, not wanting to get too involved with the situation. It was understandable, she had gone through so much as of recently she needed someone to be there for her.

Lunar stared at the bisexual flag Sun had in his room. It was quite the decoration in his opinion. He swung his feet off the side of the bed and hummed to himself. He looked around the room for something to distract himself with. It’s not like Gemini was gonna come keep him company. He has had enough of his mind right now he doesn't need to think about that.

Lunar had been at the house majority of the time, staying clear of the daycare unless it was working hours. Apparently Eclipse had been working to find whoever brought him back. Sure, he was still mad at Moon for making a deal with him. Though it wasn’t going to stop him from being there when Moon needs support.

Lunar looked around the room in search of Midnight and hopped off the bed after being unable to find her. The cat had often been curious about a lot of things. Though still remaining stationary in the room. As if she had been looking for someone.

First, he checked under the bed. The bright eyes he had grown accustomed to seeing in her usual laying spot were gone. He hummed and checked around the rest of the room. Only to notice the door of the closet opened, which it hadn’t been earlier. Did he really not notice that?

Lunar raised his hand slowly so as to not startle the cat that was likely inside and opened the door, it was surprising to see nothing immediately popping out. Lunar stepped inside the small closet and peaked around. A slight glow coming from a cleared corner of the small space. Lunar hummed and placed a curious hand on the block.

He let out a yelp as he was suddenly teleported elsewhere.

The typing on his computer halted as he stretched in his chair. He had become accustomed to the schedule Lunar strictly set in place for his breaks. The stubbornness of the small bit was stronger than a thousand men if he tried to decline the offer for a short 15 minute break.

Lunar had been staying with him recently. Earth used the excuse of a buddy system in case something malicious was going on that they hadn’t been aware of. Since Earth had moved in with Monty it worked out. Though now due to Sun’s absence she was rather pushy for Lunar to stay with him. Though, only after 2 days of living together did Lunar confess he was there to make sure Moon didn’t overwork himself.

Which he understood nonetheless and rather did enjoy his younger siblings' company. Honestly, he wished he could spend more time with him. Maybe all of them could do more game nights. Perhaps it would be something Sun would like to do.

Moon smiled at the innocent thought, but was pulled from it when a sudden beeping rang from one of his computers. Moon quickly switched to his pc, abandoning the tracker he had just been working on.

Simultaneously, a loud childlike yelp came from upstairs. Moon checked and saw the energy spike strike again, two dots lighting up hardly a second apart. Moon left the garage in an instant, going upstairs to check Sun's room.

He leaped out of the garage, hoping to see whatever caused the younger sibling’s yell. On his way he took note of Comet using the cat tree. A pang in his chest as he recalled Sun used to always play with them.

It only motivated him to leap up the stairs too. “LUNAR?!” He called out, only to get no response in return.

Without bothering to knock he busted down the door, he looked frantically for his little brother.
Only to find the room itself was void of life, no cats unless talking about the one he had just seen downstairs. No one was sitting on the bed, though it was evident someone had just been in here. “Lunar?!” Moon checked around the room, under the bed and threw the blankets off the bed. Only to see no evidence of the bot ever being there to begin with.

He opened up Lunar contact and held his hand over the call button. His hesitation came from the hue of blue coming from Sun’s closet. It had hardly been noticeable in the light, but had been stored in the dark corner of the closet, making the object visible. “The hell..” he whispered as he crouched to look at the object, he pulled himself out of this thoughts and called Lunar. The cube could wait.

On the other end there was Lunar, he didn’t seem to be shaken up or scared. At least he sounded safe. “Hey Moony-“ Moon paced around the room as he searched for Lunar himself.

“Where the hell did you go??” Moon asked, slightly frustrated with now almost losing two family members.
At least Lunar answered his calls. “I’m uhh..I’m fine. But you might want to see this place.” Lunar went quiet on the line for a moment before he spoke up. “I think I know where Sunny has been but- Moony you need to see this..” Lunar whined on the other end. Moon still didn’t even know where he was in the first place!
Moon sat on the bed and was confused when he heard a faint meow on Lunars end of the call. “Where are you? And why is there a cat? I’m literally in Sun’ room right now- where did you go Lunar?” Moon combed through Suns room curiously

“Uhhh” Lunar hummed and went quiet for a moment. “Touch the blue cube thingy.”

Moon looked towards the closet and opened the door wider, looking down at the cube with a slight blue glow.

Without hesitation he grabbed it, the connection of the call died out as he was then teleported right next to Lunar. “What the-“ Moon looked around at the bunker, papers thrown in every direction, an outdated computer. That looks to have been gathering dust for a minute.

In the chair, Midnight is sitting there, Lunar had been gathering the carelessly tossed paper. Hardly bothering to even read them as he gathered them worriedly.

The first thing Moon analyzed was the mess, Sun had always been a neat freak so this level of uncleanliness was unsettling. Next, were the claw marks. Shreds of paper scattered about the small bunker as if a raid of some sorts had-

Oh no.

No no no.

“Moony?” Lunar placed the papers on the table, walking over to his older brother. The stillness of his sibling disturbing him immensely.

Moon’s eyes flickered from the floor to the walls, then to the desk and landing on the papers. On it, contained some blueprints. Some for a sort of invisible barrier. Others looked like an object he didn’t recognize or could hardly begin to comprehend. Most of the information on the paper looks to be a study of some sorts. Others seemed to be hypotheses of things he hadn’t even begun to think of. Though one word on each of these papers shook him to his core.

The Newton Star. The object that had begun everything. The very same thing that died with Eclipse way back when. Moon scanned the blueprints, taking pictures of most and saving them for later. It felt wrong. Sun had never told him about any of this! Of course, why would he? He blew up the moment Sun admitted to his practice of manifesting star power.

Lunar looked up worriedly at him, and picked up Midnight and held her protectively against his chassis. Moon sat down in the chair the cat had previously inhabited and clutched the papers protectively. Surely there had been a reason Sun had been hiding these. It was obvious they weren’t made by him of course! Sun was smart in his own ways but dumb luck can only get someone so far. These had likely been Eclipses, or even belonged to the old him. “I’m fine Lunar- Just..scared.. but we need to go.”

Moon stood up from the chair and pushed it in neatly, he grabbed the large stack of salvageable papers in one hand and took Lunars hand in the other. “Do you think Sunny is okay?” Lunar looked up at him, the baby eyes almost seeing right through his tough facade.

Moon tugged Lunar along with him, making their way back to the teleporter. “I don’t know anymore, Lunar..” He sent a quick text to Solar and touched the teleporter. Landing right back into Sun's room

Chapter Text

It had taken forever until he finally made his way out of that strange hole. The area around him had seemed completely void of any sign of civilization. It was going to be a long walk home.

His pants had been ripped in a few places, thankfully still modest. Though he might have to hurry home soon. His signal had been offline for a while, he was sure this world’s Sun must be worried about him. At least he could say he put the bloodthirsty gremlins in timeout.

The sky had been getting cloudy, a small crack of thunder shook him for a moment as he navigated through the dense forest. The psychotic one surely did take him far from ‘home’.. He was pulled away from his aimless walking by a monotone voice, one he thankfully didn’t recognize.

“Whatever you are doing. You need to stop.” The voice said, ‘Sun’ would have been great for at least a greeting. Perhaps a name even, though this one seemed different. Much different from anyone else he has encountered. “What? Stop what? Who even are y-“ He turned towards the voice and was surprised by their short appearance. Their hair covered one of their eyes and their form was unnaturally bright. A type of bioluminescence had surely been in play.

The figure circles him slowly, eyeing him from the tops of his rays to the bottom of his damaged and worn shoes. “It’s unbalanced.”

That surely helped him figure out what he was doing wrong.

“What is? And who do you think you are trying to tell me what I can and can’t do?” He walked towards them. His hand clenched into a tight fist. Their voice, so close to someone he once knew, and someone he will never need to deal with again. He had made sure of that.

They sighed and looked up at him. “I’m an astral, you probably don’t know what that is because you never had to deal with them, at least not yet. Though with the road you're heading on, you might have to real soon.”

‘Sun’ stood confused and blinked at the bioluminescent figure. “What’s your name?” Surely Sun had to have some information on this guy, the Astrals did come up in the folder, though descriptions were not provided. Only two names and that they were somehow connected to Lunar.

They had been stuck in their thoughts for a moment before they spoke up. “Castor. Now you need to leave, go back where you came from. Bring back Sun and stop messing with star power.” Castor spoke sternly.

‘Sun’ groaned and spoke in a voice almost equivalent to Castors. “Oh come onnn..Those like me across the universe had been wronged! I am simply making a place where we won’t have to worry about being hurt!”

Castor looked at him quizzically. “Who are you trying to protect from being hurt?”

Sun wheezed and gestured to himself. “The Sun’s! Everyone one of me across every multiverse! There isn’t one where we haven’t been hurt in some way shape or form! I- I need to protect us from him!” He laughed as he covered his face. The aching in his body from the overexertion spread. His battery was low and his laughter slowed.

Castor looked at him with a type of disgust he only had seen from Moon’s. Only aggravating him more. “I expect Sun back by the end of this week.” He waited for a second to let the message sink in, before quickly disappearing into thin air. Leaving ‘Sun’ alone with his thoughts, he knew he needed to go home soon. Though he just needed to get his papers before he did that. Hopefully the family didn’t go into a frenzy the second he went missing. Perhaps they never even noticed he was gone.

Only a quick yell of his name and a small body slamming into his leg did he realize he definitely miscalculated.

He had gotten used to the schedule. He would train for a couple hours with Castor and Pollux. Then he would check up on Earth, evade Jack like the plague and then force Moon to take a break. It had been like this for about a week. Moon still hadn’t made any progress on his search and seemed to lose himself in his work. Though, that certainly wouldn’t do! He had one job and he had to do it right. He sat on the bench as he rested, the usage of star power had always taken a lot out of him. Though he seemed to get them under control a bit more.

Lunar weakly smiled and brought himself back onto his feet. Getting used to the ground under his feet as he wandered. Pollux had said she was going to go check on Castor. Who had left midway through their session. It was strange, he had been used to Castor being mysterious though suddenly disappearing without a word felt..strange still.

He crouched down next to the large body of water. The place had been rather nice to relax by, he had even begun to meet Castor and Pollux there just to hang out. Ever since Valentine's day, things had begun to look up for them. Monty quickly took over the role as his wing man and Earth and Solar encouraged him in the background. It felt nice to have that support.

He just missed Sun, sure he hadn’t talked to him much before he disappeared. Though, he wished he could just go back in time and change that. He felt a pang in his mechanical heart as he suddenly stood, his previously good mood spoiled by the reminder of his missing brother.

He tossed a rock in the water, watching as its previous stillness became even ripples within the water. He slowly stood again, a sour expression on his face as he began to look for Pollux. He pushed his way through the dense trees and nearly tripped over a few large rocks. He listened before hearing a distant conversation. The voices were too quiet to recognize, though one sounded much more erratic than the other.

He still kept walking, maybe one of the other astrals had come? Lunar shivered at that thought, as soon as things had begun to get better, they took one step forward only to take three more back. He sucked in a tight breath before releasing it, shaking off his nerves before the voices suddenly stopped, had they heard him?

Lunar pushed through the last of the trees revealing himself, he looked up and expected to see one of the astrals. Only to see someone he never expected. “Sun?” He whispered out, before a large smile spread on his face and tears of relief pricked at his eyes as he threw himself at his older brother's leg.

“Sunny! I thought you were gone! We all thought you were gone! What happened? Why are you all dirty and..What happened to your pants?” Lunar leaned away, examining the rips and brutal tears of the fragile fabric.

However, Sun didn’t answer, only patting the top of Lunar’s head gently. Lunar held his hand and pulled him along. He called Moon as he guided Sun back on the familiar route home. “Moony?” He whispered softly.
Moon hummed on the other end in acknowledgement to his statement, “Yeah Lunar?” he responded. Moon slowly scooted up in his chair

“I found Sunny.”

He walked into the small office. The red and orange hues provided decent lighting as he entered. He heard from Earth that Lunar wouldn’t be there to check him in but Lunar had still been adamant about having Moon fill out a paper check in instead. A small smile was brought to his face as he spotted the clipboard near the door to Earth’s office.

He picked up the clipboard and wrote down his name, alongside the time in the correct boxes. After he set the clipboard back where he placed it he knocked on the door. The sound of wheels against the floor came from the other side until he heard a muffled ‘Come in’. He held the doorknob in his hand and turned it. Earth greeted him with a small smile and gestured to him to sit down. “Hey Moon! Come and take a seat please, how have you been doing recently?” Earth gently prodded, she knew he hadn’t been doing good as of late. None of the celestial family had been.

“I’ve been better..” He sat in the chair, moving to the further corner and curling up slightly. Holding his hands tightly together. “Me and Solar are getting closer to getting the tracker. It just- me and Lunar found something..concerning.” Moon sighed, and gave a look to Earth, the tone of his voice expressing the true concern he felt for his missing twin.

Earth hummed and took out a small notepad, Moon had begun to come to more sessions as of late. As per most of the families request, contained in the small page held notes from their previous sessions. Earth grabbed a nearby pen and gave it a small click before looking back up at Moon. Providing her now, full attention. “What did you two find? Something Sun left behind?” Earth fiddled with the pen in her hands as she listened.
Moon shrugged and rubbed his hands up and down his arms. A shiver of discomfort came from the lunar bot. “He had some sort of base. I didn’t know about it.. The place was ransacked and that’s not even all of it! There were blueprints for a star. Not the one that Eclipse had. It was different. I don't know where they came from or why he had them!” Moon admitted frustratingly, as he balled his hand into a fist.

Earth took a small note and hummed in acknowledgement. Grabbing out another notepad that had a yellow hue to it and wrote down a small note before storing it again. “So you believe Sun was hiding things from you?”

Moon nodded instantly and shrunk further into the couch. “I know he was! There was a hidden teleporter for christ's sake! And now it's only making me question everything he has ever told me! And makes me feel like an idiot!” Moon resisted his urge to shout. A low growl in the undertone of his voice that didn’t do a good job at concealing his frustration.

Earth nodded along to his words and stood up from her chair, circling around the desk and sitting on the chair next to Moon. “You aren’t an idiot Moon, you are one of the smartest people I know! Why would you feel that way?” She leaned and looked into her brother's eyes, only to see the start of oily tears coming from them. She suppressed a surprised gasp and grabbed a box of tissues. Wordlessly, she guided Moon to face her and wiped away the globs of watered down oil from her brother’s face and allowed the stained tissues to fall to the floor. Silently deciding to pick them up later. “It’s okay Moon, I’m here.” She spoke gently, a soft smile on her face as she provided a silent support. She knew of Moon’s dislike for physical affection, and chose to actively ignore the urge to hug him.

Moon took a stimulated breath and pressed his knees tightly to his chest. “I haven’t been a good brother, have I? I just..I let it get this bad! And I’ve been keeping him out of everything even after I promised I wouldn’t hide things from him.” Moon clutched the fabric of his pants tightly and blinked away the frustrated tears in his optics. The siblings sat in a blanket of silence for a moment. Earth’s comforting and anchoring presence did bring a feeling of stability for his mind. Allowing him to remember he wasn’t really alone.

Earth smiled softly and rang the bell on Moon’s hat, bringing a small laugh from her brother. She smiled and continued her ringing off the bell. The soft chimes filled the dead silent room, that only a ring from the eldest brother's phone could interrupt. The notification showed a picture of Lunar, an evil smile on the younger brother's face as he looked into the camera. Moon gave Earth a look and she nodded, giving him some space to discuss whatever the phone call was about in peace.

“Moony?” The younger brother's voice was laced with a thin layer of static during the call. Moon gave him merely a hum of acknowledgment and repositioned himself in the chair. Allowing his feet to touch the floor again.

Birds and the sound of sticks and thin leaves breaking between the sound of 2 pairs of feet walking together came through the audio wave of the call. Moon was about to ask who was with him before that question was answered for him. “I found Sunny.” Moon stood up from his seat suddenly, startling Earth in the process as he lunged over the couch and to the door of the office. “LUNAR FOUND SUN!” He yelled in a quick explanation, Earth stammered out something he couldn’t care to process in the moment as he began to run back home.

Lunar winced on the other end, the loud yell that went straight into his audio processor made it ache for but a moment. Lunar looked up at the tired solar themed animatronic and began to walk him home.

Maybe things will be alright after all.

Summary:

‘Sun’ RETURNS to the daycare?! in VRCHAT

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Moon had raced back into the daycare. Lunars words only pushed him further as he frantically searched for the pair. Only for his hope to dwindle from the lack of his brother's bright presence. Moon pushed through, his brother was likely just located elsewhere! His thoughts came to a halt as Solar called him, the aggressive ringing stopped as he answered. “Hey Moon.” Solar answered, his voice calmer than Moons in this moment.

Moon pulled up his tracker as he tried to formulate a response to Solar. “Hey- yeah what’s up? Kinda busy looking for Lunar who just found Sun. Out of the blue.” Moon groaned as the tracker showed he was close, he was about to release a yell to call for his younger brother.

Only to find his answers in Solars words the second he responded. “They are in the theater, Lunar found him while he was out training. He hasn’t talked much about what happened. Just said ‘Bloodmoon’ and that’s about it.” Moon growled on the phone, his temper fumed as he sprinted up the stairs. It’s been a while since he had seen the red pricks. Last he had seen them had been before Eclipse came back. Now they were just yesterday's news. A villian that had faded into obscurity. He had been grateful for that, though it only seemed their break had been just forming a plan to kidnap his brother. Moon let out a frustrated sigh at his foolishness for thinking those bloody twins would just leave them alone.

The tension left his body as he spotted Sun, who was just standing, surrounded by Solar and Lunar. Both looked concerned by Sun's lack of response or even acknowledgement and were relieved as Moon entered the room. Moon smiled brightly and hugged Sun, being wary of the scratches and rips in his twins clothing, that thankfully kept him modest. “I’m so glad you are home brother- what happened? Where did they take you? Did they do this?” Moon checked the back of his brother's head for injuries, only to get his hand swatted away by Sun.

Moon looked at Sun and planted his hand on his brothers shoulders. “I’m just making sure nothing is wrong, looks like one of your wires got pinched, I might need to fix it.” Moon gave a look to Solar, who understood and began to walk away, seemingly to parts and service to grab the tools necessary for a procedure such as this one. Sun mumbled something under his nonexistent breath. “What was that?” Moon looked at his twin as he tried to capture an understanding of what he said.

Sun paused and his milky white eyes glanced around the room, only to fall to the floor as he stepped back. Making Moon's hand fall from his shoulders. “I can do it myself.” He mumbled, loud enough for Moon to hear this time.

Lunar heard this as well, and chose to input himself on the conversation. “No offense Sunny but I think we all know you don’t know how to do that. To be fair I don’t either!” Lunar let out a small, nervous, laugh. Sun tilted his head to look at him, the blank smile stared blankly at their youngest sibling only causing them to freeze.

“Let me just help you Sun, we can go to parts and service and you can tell me what happened.” Sun froze, his frame eriely still. Moon glanced from him to Lunar, a feeling of unease transferred from both lunar bots. “Sun?” Moon whispered, his brother simply stared before glancing at Solar. Who had just returned from his trip to parts and service.

Sun walked over to him, and took the tools from his hand. Solar stood confused by allowing him to take it. Sun nodded his head slowly in a silent motion of gratitude. Moon walked towards Sun to try and take the tools from him.

Sun didn’t allow him as he began to back up to the door of the theater. Lunar looked between the three and nudged Moon away, attempting to reach his eldest brother. Sun took a glance at the younger one and turned around fully. Before Moon could say anything he began to walk out of the theater.

His brother stood in a haze and almost didn’t even acknowledge anyone else was there. He opened his arm hatch and dialed in a few coordinates Moon recognized as their house and within a second Sun was gone. Moon looked between Solar and Lunar who looked just as confused as him. Moon typed in the same coordinates and teleported home.

Only for him to be met with a pair of confused cats and Sun’s, now opened, closet door. Moon thought for a moment before deciding to give him time.

Though, stood confused as their interaction from just a moment ago left him with many more questions than answers.
For one, Sun had never just left without a word. His brother had been much more talkative. It had felt so out of character for him.

And two, his sticker that had laid within his arm hatch was gone, as if it was never there to begin with.

Sun didn’t know how long he had spent in the ballpit. Not wanting to miss the opportunity of the portal opening at any given moment. He even moved his charger so he could charge and still be in the confines of the ballpit.

It was worse knowing he had to close the daycare for the day. Plus, he still hadn’t been able to get a hold of Sun #2! He covered his face with his hands and leg out a long sigh. Monty had been of no help. And according to him in this dimension he was the smart one! That hadn’t been something he was expecting.

It left him alone with his thoughts, in his opinion, for far too long. There had been no work for him to throw himself into, no cleaning in the daycare needed to be done. He checked, the floor had never been so shiny. No kids needed to be taken care of. Even though he loved how much more collected they had been. The silence had been appreciated though being alone felt wrong. He hadn’t been alone in a long time. He laid further in the lake of ball pit balls and hummed along to the tune that echoed through the daycare. It felt nostalgic in a way, Moon had long ago turned off the tune and complained about it during their early days. Though, here it seemed his multiversal counterpart never seemed to get tired of the consistent tune.

Sun brought up his brother's contact information. The saved photo of him being a protogen of some sort always gave him a small laugh. Though now he could only think of the mass disappointment his brother was about to express. He pressed the call button, it didn’t even ring.

The call wouldn’t go through. Sun clicked it again, it still didn’t go through. He sat up and clicked it again, only to get the same outcome. First, he checked his signal. Maybe he didn’t have a good connection in the ball pit! Next, he realized nothing was wrong with his connection.

A realization came into his mind, a crushing realization in fact. This whole time, regardless if he had called Moon from the very start of this situation to pull him out. He wouldn’t have had a connection. His signal had been offline, for all he knew it could’ve been this whole time. Though it only made it strange that the alternative Sun had been able to message and call him. Though he hadn’t been the tech-savy one between him and his brother. There had been a load of possibilities Sun’s impossibly creative mind came up with in those moments. Most had been so out of reach with reality it was unrealistic and others nearly had him convinced.

This situation felt just like way back then with that evil Lunar. The helplessness and fear in his circuits buzzed through his electricity. An unnamed feeling of anxiety clawed at his systems as he pulled at the sensitive rays. A quiet weeping as oil dripped onto the plastic vibrate plastic balls he was surrounded with.

He circled up more towards the floor of the ballpit, only to get taken deeper as a loud whirl echoed through the daycare. Suddenly, the tears stopped, replaced with a sense of urgency as he tried to find purchase on an object to pull himself out of the portal.

Sun yelled as he was sucked in, the last words he read on his opened arm panel he had no time to process were ‘Request accepted’.

Notes:

Who accepted Sun’s 127 requests?? I’d love to hear y'all's guesses!

Chapter Text

Sun lifted up his head quickly, hesitant to stand as he looked at his surroundings. The daycare had been dead silent, no one was at the security desk. Sun looked up to the lobby of the daycare, and there he saw Solar and Lunar talking.

He helped at the sight of the two and ducked out of possible view. He only relaxed once he noticed the pair leaving. Only for a voice to turn on in the speakers.

“Welcome home, Sun.” The computer spoke, their voice polite as they talked. Sun looked up where the balcony was and looked around again. Anxiety crawled in his systems as he stepped out of the ballpit. “Would you like me to notify Moon of your ret-“

“No!” Sun cut in, he walked out of the ballpit and winced at his own harsh tone. “Sorry. No..not yet.” Sun fidgeted with his fingers and looked around the daycare. The barrels hadn’t been picked up and sanitized as he liked, only causing him to cringe.

Sun ignored his code itching to clean and walked towards the doors of the daycare. “We will notify Moon in the morning.”

Sun looked at his internal clock and what he saw almost caused a soft reboot.

According to the now, updated, time and date. He had been gone for more than a month. The shock entered his systems before he could pry his eyes away from the information. He didn’t even want to know what happened while he was gone. The previous sadness and sorrow he had felt replaced with a rage and feeling of frustration he hadn’t felt in a long time. Angry tears fell from his face as he dashed out of the daycare. Ignoring the fact someone could have easily seen him, he slammed his hand against the teleporter to take him to the balcony.

His eyes looked for somewhere to hide, to shelter and cower in. He found his old room, the bright and vibrant yellow door that once housed someone just as vibrant. Now dulled with age and neglect.

He dashed into the door without a second thought and closed it behind him. Fans blared as he tried to calm himself down, only for more globs of oily tears to fall against the floor with a pathetic splat. Not only was he lied to, he had been betrayed. He wasn’t ready to talk to Moon- he couldn’t talk to Moon.

Sun continued to cry, his knees pressed so impossibly tight against his chest and his rays retracted they had hardly been visible. He should have known. Really, the thought of a break away from everything plagued his mind; he hadn't even thought of this. Just like he had told Moon long ago, he just wanted it gone. Why couldn’t it just stop? Why did he have to be the weakest link? Why did he have to be the useless-

“Sun?”

Moon had given Sun at most an hour. He waited in the now unoccupied room, the light blue hue that came from the closet. As if teasing him, knowing what he wanted to do. Moon pushed himself off of Sun’s bed and walked over to the closet. A few boxes of clothes and random junk had been scattered around.

He lifted his hand hesitantly and paused for a moment. Only to place his hand against the cube and allow himself to be teleported to his brother. As Moon reoriented himself he heard lots of shuffling, papers and drawers before opening and roughly closed. Moon looked around the now ruined bunker, the state of it now worse than what he left it in. “Where is it..where is it?!” He heard Sun yell from deeper in the bunker. Moon followed the sound of his brother's voice and found him searching deep within a cabinet.

Moon made a sound of clearing his throat and Sun yelped, hitting his head as he pulled himself out of the cabinet. “What?! How- how did you find this place? There is only one entrance and you can’t track me-“ Sun backed up and fled into a deeper part of the bunker. Moon caught his brother's shoulder before he could flee too far away.

He hesitated before he spoke, Sun tried to pull himself away but failed under Moon's tight grip on his shoulder. His casing on the verge of denting, but never quite exceeded that level of pressure. Moon gave Sun a pleading look and released his shoulder. Sun tore himself away quickly but didn’t move. “Sun- you know I care about you..we are just worried! You leave for two weeks and just come back and start ignoring us again! I just want to know what happened to you. Please..” Moon pleaded, Sun looked at him, the blank smile of his face sent unpleasant shivers down his endo.

Sun stayed quiet for a moment before breaking the dense silence between them. “Where are the blueprints?” He asked menacingly, his voice quiet and low, almost akin to Eclipse’s. Moon could hardly recognize his brother anymore. Sun took a step towards him, his feet planting against the ground as if they weighed a hundred pounds. Moon stepped back. Yet, Sun had been persistent. “Where. Are. The. Blueprints?” Sun walked more towards Moon, as he took a step back. Putting space between himself and Sun.

“I took them, where did you even get them?” Moon whispered out, Sun had been beyond pissed at his words. His rays spun before locking in place
His hands balled into tight fists. “They’re mine.” Sun growled out, his fans on their highest setting as they tried to calm down his boiling rage. Moon weighed his options before opening his chest cavity, pulling out the stack of salvaged papers. Sun yanked them from him and held them protectively, he shuffled through the papers and nudged Moon off to the side and walked towards the cube to exit. He blocked his brother's way and stopped him before he could leave. “Sun? Listen, I don't know what’s going on with you. But this isn’t you- and where is your sticker? Why do you have those blueprints? Why are you trying to remake the star of all things?” His questions buzzed through his mind as he stared at his twin.

Sun looked at Moon and his piercing gaze saw right through Moon and he couldn’t help but cower under his brother's gaze. “To protect us from you” Sun hissed at Moon, who had slowly been backing away. It stung, he knew the old Moon didn’t treat him right. Yet this felt so out of line for Sun, certainly he didn’t mean it-

“He should’ve known not to get close to a dead one like you.”

It had been at that moment Moon’s world came crumbling down. And his oblivious mind put together the pieces of a puzzle he didn’t know exist. A realization he had no idea he had to face.

This wasn’t Sun. This isn’t his brother.

Solar had escorted Lunar out of the daycare. The small boy had been rather upset with his older siblings at their, mostly one sided, talk. Solar comforted him the best he could and the moment he turned as the roll up door to the daycare closed. That left the small lunar bot out of sight. Solar turned around and made his way to the teleporter.
He was surprised to then see the sight of Sun running past him. He was about to call out for him until he used the teleporter to take him to the balcony.

So much for charging.

Solar straightened himself and was about to call Moon. Only for a glimmer of a substance on the floor to catch his eye. He bent down to examine the dark substance and was surprised to see it was oil. The dark matter seeped into the carpet and stained it. It would suck to get out later but the sight only concerned him more. A small trail of oil had been built up from where Sun had run from. He chose not to question it for the moment and hit the teleporter to check on the other issue at hand.

The moment he appeared on the balcony, a loud slam of a door echoed through the area. Judging that there was only one door up in the hidden room, it was apparent where Sun had chosen to go. Solar climbed down and made his way to the room, pressing himself against it to listen in on the other side.

Choked sobs and the noises of distress were all he was able to process. Perhaps it had been Moon that upset
him this time, to be fair it wouldn't have been anything that set off the animatronic. He was the much more sensitive one of the group.

Though Solar hadn’t been the type to comfort people, it wasn’t in his job description. Solar took a moment before slowly sliding the door open, Sun didn’t seem to notice him but something seemed off immediately. Just a moment before, Sun's outfit had been tapered and ragged. Though, this one seemed to have been almost brand new, besides the occasional swatch of paint or a sticker. Solar examined the other bot and slowly walked towards him.

“Sun?” He whispered out, said animatronic lifted his head so quickly, he pushed himself more against the wall and stared up at Solar. Giving him a much better view of the state he was in. His face streaked of oil coming from his eyes, at this rate he was going to run out.

Solar crouched down in front of Sun and the bot hiccuped, his voice breaking as he tried to speak. All that had come out was static. He sat with Sun and waited till he could calm down. The situation felt tense, all that filled the air was Suns hyperventilating and occasional broken sobs. Solar looked worriedly at the other, and hadn’t been able to get to know this dimension’s Sun that well, especially recently. Solar placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and Sun wiped at the tears on his face, the flow had halted for now, which was good. “Are you..okay now?” Solar whispered, afraid the wrong word might set the other off.

Sun sniffled and gave him a nod. Sun let out a sigh and sat upright. “I- I’ve been gone for a while.” Sun tucked his head into his knees and Solar nodded weakly. “Two weeks is a while..” Sun sat up entirely at Solar's words, a small feeling of shock leaving him. He expected Solar to not know what he had meant. Though, with what the other had been saying, perhaps he can play into it for just a little longer. “What.” Sun muttered, Solar shrugged and settled more against the wall. “Well after Lunar found you I’m sure you were relieved. And Bloodmoon? That fact you’re alive is surprising.” Solar continued to speak and Sun simply stared. If it had been possible for the color to drain from his face, it would have. Had he double encountered Bloodmoon while he was gone? Is that why he wasn’t picking up? Solar noticed Sun staring and cleared his throat. “sorry. Didn’t know if you wanted to talk about it or not.” Sun shook his head and figured with his hands.
“It’s fine. Just uh. Go charge. I’m going to stay here tonight. If that’s okay. Don’t really feel like seeing Moon right now..” Sun admitted, Solar nodded at his words, giving a hum of approval and sat up, he gave Sun a pat on the head and moved to exit the room. He casted a reassuring look to the other before opening the door and closing it behind him.
Sun smiled weakly and grabbed his old charger. Finally able to be alone for a moment. Sun checked his current percent and proceeded to plug himself in. The hum of energy seeping into his systems was much more relaxing now that he was home. Even if he had been 86%, a little extra charge wouldn’t hurt.

He just needs to find the other ‘Sun’ in the morning and clear things up before they notice they have two Suns! They both just have to keep a low profile for now. Then they can regroup and swap back places.

Shouldn’t be too difficult.

Chapter Text

‘Sun’ knew he had been screwed from the moment Moon entered his lab. Though many more things had been in his mind at that moment. Quiet mumbles as he shuffled through the disarrayed bunker. A thin layer of dust coated the many surfaces, his cleaning protocols buzzed loudly in his mind as he stopped them as soon as they started. Then Moon, the dead one. Who was, to be fair, more tolerable than others, had shown him the papers he stole from him. It had taken them wordlessly, while Moon prodded and poked at him.
The other’s many questions triggered him. There had been very little lies he could conjure to try and get himself out of this. No possible escape, besides the one behind Moon. There had been nowhere to run. Though, ‘Sun’ managed to hold himself together and took a moment, Moon’s blabbering had filled the air. Never allowing him to get a proper word in until his dense mind finally put the pieces together.

He had no clue how he had made it this far. The luck he had for Moon to never believe the words of an Eclipse. It took him going missing for two weeks till the idiot finally put it together. To find the oh so obvious truth. To finally see the apparent differences between him and his sunshine of a brother. ‘Sun’ stood and held the blueprints close to himself, a death grip on the pages that could very well allow him to do the impossible. A Moon would never understand the type of power that came with an object like this. He still had yet to see a Moon, who is commonly the creator of the stars, hilariously, never able to fully master it’s power.

‘Sun’ sighed as Moon looked at him, a look of fear and confusion plastered on Moon’s face. “You aren’t Sun..” he whispered.

‘Sun’ rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Congrats. Only took you. me, going missing for two weeks to find that out? You really care about your ‘brother’.” He said, lifting his hands to use air quotes. Moon growled as the persistent gaze stared him down. The other only stood in front of him, his gaze lazy and almost bored. Moon's fans blared as he tried to calm his temper. His voice box released a moment of brief static as he grabbed the work chair. ‘Sun’ quickly slid the star's blueprints into his chassis and clicked the compartment shut.
His white eyes widened as Moon shoved the chair towards him, pushing him against one of the shelves of cabinets. Moon growled, his eye lights casting a glow against the other's face. “Where. Is. My. BROTHER?!” Moon grabbed one of ‘Sun’s rays and tossed him to the floor, allowing the chair to fall on top of the other. He wheezed and looked up at Moon, his face painted with an undisclosed amount of fury. ‘Sun’ pushed against the chair, taking it off of his battered frame and looked at Moon. The blank stare he wore could have spoken a million words if he had known the language. Just like him. Though, the lunar themed bot could only grasp unamusement. Moon fell into a fit of laughter, a small wheeze concluding the psychotic laughter. He pressed his foot on the chest of the other, under it, the compartment that held the papers to his life’s work. The thin metal creaked with a warning, though the other never pushed down. He knew the full intent to harm him would always be there, the threat forever standing in the thick air. ‘Sun’ held Moon’s ankle in a vice grip, preventing the other from pushing down more against him. Moon heaved as he leaned over the other.

“Now tell me WHY I should let you live.” His foot threatened to collapse ‘Sun’s chest in, ‘Sun’ winced and looked up at Moon. Truthfully, there was no reason to let him live. They would eventually find Sun and he didn’t have any valuable information for them. Though, they don’t know his intentions. They don’t know him. ‘Sun’ allowed the bubbly feeling of that revelation to enter his voice, not something he did quite often.
His rays expanded back out, calibrating in thought as he thought of what to say. “I’ll tell you where your brother is.” He spoke smoothly, the offer strung in the air for a moment till Moon growled in agitation. He lifted his foot off the other and crouched near him. He grabbed one of his rays and forced him to look at him.

Oh the things some Moon’s do to feel better about themselves.

After a moment he let go, tossing the others face away from him. ‘Sun’ reeled back and rubbed a hand against the bruised ray. His smile strained as he looked up at the other. “Great! Take me to him.” Moon exasperated and leaned against one of the cabinets on the wall. Looking deep into the imposter's eyes as he opened his arm hatch. Pressing a few buttons as Moon stood, skeptical of the other until a loud ringing echoed through the room.

It rang

One

Twice

Three times..

And then nothing. What followed was the sound of his brother's voice that could be heard from the small speaker within his arm. “Hey what’s up?” Sun's enthusiastic voice spoke, Moon perked up and stared at the sound of his voice. His actual brother’s voice. A sigh of relief flooded Moon’s systems at the fact his brother was safe and oka-

“I’m actually not at the phone. Everyone keeps doing these though! Leave a message after the beep.”

What.

Moon’s reaction was immediate, pulling open his own arm hatch, his monotone voice, void of the emotion of relief he had just been filled with a moment prior. He abandoned his interest in the imposter and turned away, his figure still as stone as he weighed his options. His brother was in danger, likely too much for his hands to face. At the time he hadn’t even considered Bloodmoon as a culprit for his brother's strikingly long disappearance, yet here, the imposter carried dents and a now, replaced wire cover. Thanks to the Bloodtwins. His systems crawled with a feeling his artificial stomach felt it almost couldn’t handle. A want- no a need to find his brother coated his mind more than anything else. They still found Ruin suspicious despite the unlikeliness of such a case. He cleared the thick silence in his voice box as he spoke “Computer, track Sun.” He ordered. His voice was cold as he looked at ‘Sun’. The other scoffed and rolled his eyes, the tint of where neatly colored pupils used to be

Maybe Sun was just offline for a bit- He couldn’t be gone. He wouldn’t let it. Not after everything, the voice of his brother brought him the warm sense of comfort, to know he was still there. Now knowing it had been a fake almost made him sick. Unconsciously replacing his brother with some sort of imposter. He should’ve seen it coming. He should have known. He can’t keep just repeating the same thing over and over again-

“Sun found. Location; Daycare”

‘Sun’ shot up at the words and listened to the voice coming from the lunar bot's arm. Before Moon could say a word, the other lept. A crash or two came from his area, likely the bright attendant throwing the chair off himself as he was going to pounce at the other. Moon yelped, shielding himself as he assumed the other was leaping at him.

Though, the feeling of impact never came. Moon growled and was about to tell the other off, before looking where he was. The chair had fallen over, still on the floor next to where the other had been laying. Moon looked around, a single wheel on the chair still spinning.

Moon was stunned for a moment, the lack of any sort of life or proof life had never been there had clearly been present. As if he was the only one there to begin with. He growled at the empty room and he rammed his fist against the hard walls, ignoring the ache in his hand as he ran to the only exit available. The crack in the wall was visible as he screamed, his voice box glitching as he did so. “DAMMIT!” He shook off the blossoming pain in his hand and ran off to the blue cube in the back of the crammed bunker.

Moon carried his body up on his feet. The joints in his knees and ankles ached, the pressure of his heavy footsteps proving to be much more than his slim frame could handle.
He still pushed on, ever since their argument he began to notice the changes in his brother. Even if there had been small changes, sometimes he had forgotten to feed the cats, leaving them to Moon to feed. Sun had always been on top of feeding his cats at the same time everyday. The attitude of his brother changed, resigned to the background rather than pushing his way to the front to try and be more involved. The change certainly hadn’t gone unnoticed to just him. Earth noted the differences, Sun had even skipped one of his appointments. Despite her calling him multiple times.
He had felt sick. For ignoring the signs, not being more worried about the twin he claims to have held more dear than anything. Moon pulled through the exhausted feeling in his joints, the roll up garage door for the daycare had come into view. The dimly lit lobby and the signature sun and moon painted on the door. Moon let out a sigh of relief as it slowly rolled up once the sensor read of the actively moving presence. He crouched beneath the small available opening before it could fully open, his frame squeaked in discomfort as he did so.
The flood of colors embraced his optics as they adjusted to the bright lighting. The small sun plush with the light yellow glow to it. Solar had inserted the teleporter chip into it a while ago. The small plushie duplicate of his brother stared at him, the golden eyes he had never seen on the sun bot himself. He patted the head of the plush, surprised to feel the fabric under his fingers for more than a second. He pressed his hand more firmly against it, only for the teleporter to not work. Moon picked up the plush, the golden eyes staring back at him as he dropped it.
Moon abandoned the small plush, running down the stairs so he could make it to the main entrance of the daycare. It was strange how much of a blur the experience felt. His feet made contact with the stairs as he rushed down them. Bells ringing at an almost constant rate as he raced down them. The painted hills along the walls came into his view as he reached the last step. Moon’s foot had met the still floor. His optics flashed up towards the large wooden doors in front of him. He sped towards the doors, ignoring the ache in his leg and ankle joins from the consistent running as he did so. He had expected the doors to open for him, fairly sensitive sensors that activated the hydraulics for the doors hung above him.
Only for the doors to never open. His feet never stopped moving, the haste to reach his brother, the one he vowed to protect much too strong. He was surprised to feel the hard thick wooden surface of the door collide with his arm. Moon groaned and grabbed the handles of the door, attempting to manually pry them apart. The frames of the heavy wooden doors hardly budged.
“Computer! Open the main doors of the daycare.” He growled, his systems warning of potential overheating. Analyzing his surroundings had been interesting, the aura around the daycare seemed awfully peaceful despite the weight of the situation.
The speakers powered on from within the shielded daycare. The voice of the monotone computer rang from within. “Unfortunately we cannot follow your instructions. Daycare is on lockdown till opening hours.” Moon slammed his fist against the wood. The threat of tears breaching his optics became present only a small sting at first until he opened his arm hatch and tried to override the lockdown. Smooth metal fingers against the small keys with the compartment. The teleporter had been disabled and now the computer decided to lock Sun within the daycare! Likely alone or trapped with someone inside. He was going to dismantle that computer whenever he got insi- “We recommend you rest. Solar is inside to watch Sun. Perhaps you can busy yourself with finding that false Sun? Or charge that 12% battery.” They snarkily replied. Moon closed the hatch to his arm a bit more harshly than he intended. The threatening tears far gone by then, dried away as if they never were to have occurred to begin with.
He turned his back to the doors of the daycare, looking for an area to sit for the time being. His gaze caught sight of the go-karts, he walked towards them. The bells at his feet and hat rang with every step he took until he crouched next to the two vehicles. All of these go-karts had been powered by electricity so if he just looked nearby there was bound to be an outlet. He shuffled around the tiny vehicle, looking for a source of power he could use.
He came across a little hatch in the floor and opened it, the little gold plating made a tiny clink as it opened fully. And there, looking to have gathered dust for ages. Had been an outlet, thankfully compatible with his. Moon sighed and opened his chest cavity, sure it provided many great benefits like storage (Just like Sun used to do with his Fizzy Faz) and perks. But they made their only extendable charger hidden within their chest, where most of their valuable components lay. To be fair their lifeline of a pair of wires laid on the back of their head without a cover to let many curious children pull on. Though he wasn’t sure he was comfortable sleeping with his endo exposed to any prying eyes.
It was that or go home and charge.
Moon thought for a moment before plugging in the extendable charger. He took a seat within the golden yellow go-kart. The seat had been rather uncomfortable but wasn’t the worst sleeping position he had ever been in. Moon pulled the nightcap over his eyes and allowed his unruly systems to go into rest mode.
He had a long day tomorrow.

‘Sun’ was surprised to not see the familiar bedroom he had grown used to. After touching the teleporter he had not ended up where he anticipated. He had ended up in one of the dark corners of the FazCade. Only thin white eyes stared back at him. Not a noise filled the dense air. It felt wrong. All of this had been wrong, despite the weight of the situation he needed to get out. He felt his hands bound, unable to move. Though nothing had been there. The invisible restraints constricted around his wrists and feet. He winced in pain and the eyes glowed brighter. The figure stepped closer, the darkened rays and the seemingly moveable pupils stared at him.
“Hello, creator.”

Chapter Text

The silence weighed like a ton of bricks over the two sun variants. ‘Sun’s milky white eyes that had a soft glow to them had been the brightest thing in that room at the moment. The plain eyes staring into the pupils of his creation, creating an unamused glare as he was bound to the chilled arcade cabinet. He didn’t want to point out the rather heavy accusation Eclipse had thrown his way. Eclipse circled the arcade cabinet in thought, staring the other up and down as he judged him. “Nothing? You really are such a talker.” Eclipse smiled smugly and wiggled a loose ray around the bright one's head. ‘Sun’ jerked his head back away from the touch and hissed in annoyance. He felt Eclipse slip away and reappear in front of him, the dark figure practically blending in with the scenery around them. The cobwebs lightly blew with the limited airflow of the back room. Arcade machines give a beep every so often, filling the large void of silence every so often.
‘Sun’ hummed, the annoyance of the smug bot that stood before him breached his systems. “You certainly aren’t my best work. But you got the job done.” He jerked against the invisible bounds, a quiet grunt escaping his voice box as he fell slack against the restraints. Eclipse barely caught the mumble under the other’s breath. Though once his CPU grasped his comment he scoffed. The white pupils rolling in their sockets and ‘Sun’ placed a weak, entertained, smile on his face.
Eclipse faced away from ‘Sun’ as he spoke. “You know, it took a while till the others figured it out. Now I get to wipe that smug ass grin across Moon’s face.” He cackled and turned away. “How was it? Playing family with those idiots?” He continued to laugh, a sick smile plastered across his face as he spoke. He didn’t speak and just stared at the floor as the other's laughter had diminished into the occasional chuckle.” The bright attendant wriggled against the invisible restraints. His efforts proved useless as he slacked against them. Letting out a quiet grunt. Instead of pulling notice to such, Eclipse chose to ask a question. “What possible goal can a Sun have?” He asked, tilting his head in amusement.
“When is Moon going to get here?” Eclipse raised a metaphorical brow at the genuine lack of interest from someone supposedly bright as the sun itself. It had filled a sense of suspicion in his systems, ignoring the previously blatant disrespect coming from the sunny animatronic. That had silently damaged his ego. He let it go and checked his internal clock, looking at the time before humming. It didn’t matter how soon Moon would be there. All he knew is that when he did, this double would be dead. He smiled to himself and leaned more comfortably against the arcade machine. A small grin on his face as he looked into the eyes of ‘Sun’.

“I’ll send him a ping letting him know you are here” He laughed and pressed a hand to his face, a pleased sigh releasing from the other. He ignored the lack of ‘Sun’s acknowledgment and continued to lightly snicker. Keeping his eyes glued to the tense animatronic adjacent from him. ‘Sun’ couldn’t help the bitter stare, almost as bitter as the coffee Solar drank on the regular. “What?” The deep, light hearted, voice asked. He threw a glance to Sun, questioning the glare. “I said, what?” He repeated, getting nothing but silence from the other. He grumbled and rested more comfortably against the arcade machine. Oh well, looks like they are gonna be waiting for a while.

Moon’s systems were awakened at the tone of soft buzzing. Enough to rise the previously stressed systems from the night prior. He unplugged his extension cord from the outlet before him, returning the handy cable to its compartment before closing his chest cavity. Running a system check to make sure no malware had been installed to his systems while he had been in rest mode. Luckily for him, nothing showed. He wriggled out of the uncomfortable space that was the go-karts and wasted no time with stretching or yawning in a normal tired manner. No, he had been on a mission. Sun had been all alone, besides Solar, within the confines of the daycare while the computer rudely shut him out. He grumbled at the previous annoyance and skipped up the steps that lead to the second floor lobby. It was easier to get to the balcony this way than going all around to the theater to use the ‘normal’ path. To say he hadn’t been pissed about the circumstances of the night before was an understatement. He was rightfully beyond pissed. Finding out his ‘brother’ had been a simple copy from another dimension for what? A few days. Now adding onto the two weeks his brother had been missing prior had begun to give him a headache. He knew Sun had been acting distant before those dreadful two weeks. Most of the family noticed in fact. Despite his late realization he still had known something was off. Even if he still hadn’t known what had gotten into his brother's head the weeks before his two week long disappearance. He hopes today he will find out. Letting that imposer get away was the regret he felt fuel him most in his hasty steps. Letting a psychotic Sun get away with blueprints to a possibly dangerous device wasn’t a particularly good idea.

Bells rang on his feet as he walked, the small chime signaling anyone around of his presence. Moon grumbled as he finally made it up the steps. Approaching the counter of where the glowing Sun plush had been, now against the floor, seemingly forgotten. Though still smiling despite the rather rude treatment Moon had given it before. He would have to turn the teleporter back off in order to get it back on the counter like where it was supposed to be. Oh well.. He could deal with that later. He crouched down on the floor, golden eyes of the plush that resembled his brother stared at him. Bright golden eyes that matched his outfit. He wonders if Sun’s eyes were ever golden. He wouldn’t know. Maybe the paint faded long before he could remember.

Bright golden, cheery eyes stared at him, he smiled and pressed a hand against the plush, welcoming the feeling of teleportation as he was taken to the balcony.

Bright colors flooded his optics as he was now overlooking the daycare. He sighed, spotted a few thrown barrels and some old spilled glitter glue that had long since dried. Moon turned, now looking into the dimmed room of what was behind the balcony. Enough dust coated the area that could’ve sent Sun into immediate shutdown.

The next thing Moon noticed was the presence of the solar themed mechanic. Solar himself looked rather tired as he dozed, goggles rested neatly on his head and one of his arms fell on the side of the couch. Moon looking for his brother in a daze, the bright animatronic nowhere in sight. He entertained the idea of waking up Solar, but immediately thought against it. He would rather not deal with the tired bot.

He jumped to the base floor of the room. The floor boards squeaking in protest. He took to glancing inside the tunnel of what used to be his room. The tunnel that made up his ‘door’ was still in pristine condition. As if it was straight out of the factory. The bed had still been made, the same he left it as before leaving. He invited Solar to use it, though the bot just said he didn’t want it, he never really knew why he refused. The area looked the same as before. Though, lacking the presence of his brother. “Sun??” He called out, before stopping and glancing at the yellow door that had turned more akin to a gray over time. It used to lead to Sun’s room that had once been as small as a supply closet. Now, with the wall taken down it was repurposed as a hallway to get to the balcony room through the theater. It was comedical when Solar broke the news of him no longer having a room to stay at in the daycare. That was quite literally his home. Moon pushed down the memory and went back to his first mission.
He grew worried as no response came from his brother's voice. He sighed and walked towards the old door. The computer did say he had been here. Maybe he was down in the daycare and not their rooms? They didn’t specify. He could always ask again if Sun wasn’t in his old room.

He walked in front of the worn down door, before opening the sliding door. He let out a sigh as the material creaked and he stepped inside. On the floor had been Sun, seemingly asleep, oil dried under his eyes and rays bent in an awkward position. Moon could’ve let out a shaky sigh of relief if he didn’t rush towards his twin first, shaking the other awake. It took a moment until his fans began to hum, and Moon unplugged his charger. “Sun?! Hey hey! It’s me. You’re home! Oh god Sun I’ve been so worried..! Where did he take you? Are you hurt?!” He hugged the drowsy attendant and Sun let out a groan as his systems booted up. The rays spinning slowly as his optics powered on and registered the other in front of him. Moon clung to his twin and felt as if he didn't melt into the rare embrace he gave as he expected. Sun was, on occasion, a touchy person. Glady taking hugs anytime he got. This felt..different, or wrong. Why didn’t his brother hug him back?

His joints locked as he was forced into Moon's arms. The halo of rays around his head retracted to an abnormal degree for him. “Hey, Moon..” he whispered, a slight tremble in his voice as he did so. His milky eyes meant the concerned gaze of his troubled brother that he shrunk under. “I- I was gone.. for a while- wasn’t I?” Sun’s nervous laugh was bitter as his gaze traveled to that of his brother’s. Moon didn’t appear to be as amused by Sun’s quip as he wanted. Moon’s worrisome gaze rested upon Sun as he squirmed in the unusual display of affection from his twin. Moon provided him some space away from the unwanted comfort, he wrapped his arms around himself. The ache from the fight that for him, had only been a week, was still fresh. Moon moved, sitting down against the floor next to Sun, he hesitantly wrapped his arms around his twin. Sun let out a hum as Moon did so, the dark attendant bringing him up against her chest. He couldn’t blame Moon for not understanding. He was never good at understanding the fragile emotions that made up Sun, the bright attendant that said that he held dearly.
Just like he had been now, protectively holding his brother close to his chest as he held onto him like a lifeline. He let out a choked noise almost akin to a broken sob. Sun couldn’t deny the guilt he felt. He started all of this hadn’t he?

It had been a while till Moon finally broke the silence. His voice box quiet as he continued to hold Sun. The rays bent uncomfortably between them. “I was so scared you- That you..” Moon sighed and held onto Sun tighter. Sun smiled weakly and leaned into the rare sense of comfort. He sighed and ducked his head into Moon’s shoulder.
“I know. I- .. I know.” He whispered, voice low and tired. Despite his full battery his systems still had a hard time booting up, likely recalibrating due to the time change.

It took a moment till the brothers parted from the comfort. Moon stood and helped Sun up. “Great..Now we just..There is an evil you wandering around. Did he do anything to you?” He asked, looking around his twin for any visible surface injuries. Sun looked at Moon for a moment. The look of confusion on the attendant’s face.
“Evil?” He asked, a prodding tone as he looked at his brother. Moon began to pull his brother out of the modified hallway.
After opening the door he noticed a now awakened Solar. “Kidnapping my brother and having blueprints that exceed well past my knowledge of technology that can possibly be a dangerous weapon? Yeah, evil.” Moon breathed out a laugh and waved to the tired theater attendant. Solar waved back and got up from the couch. Sun idly followed behind Moon, head stuck within his own thoughts as the two animatronics spoke.

“So that is Sun? No wonder he looked different when I found him.” Solar gestured towards Sun, who didn’t acknowledge the sudden attention of the bots on him. “Yup. And his double is walking around here with blueprints for a star. Seems more advanced than the one the old Moon made. Which was still well past my abilities.” Moon shrugged and climbed up the ladder that led to the balcony. The wide space of the daycare showing the burst of color. In contrast to the dulled space that had once been there, the room had almost given him a headache. Moon turned and saw Sun, still standing where he had just been a moment ago. Seemingly lost in his own world as Solar spoke. “He shouldn’t be too hard to track down..” He acknowledged, Moon hummed in agreement and opened his arm hatch.

He typed a quick message. Looked down at his arm hatch as he spoke. “Do you want to go hang out with Lunar and Earth while me and Solar work on that?” He waited a moment for a response and heard none. “Sun?” He continued, looking up to see his twin still and unmoving. His hands picked at the flanking paint on his hands. “Sun!” He jumped, white eyes looking at his brother as he looked at Moon.

Sun spoke, voice still anxious as ever. “Yeah?” He asked, Moon sighed as he repeated himself.

“I was asking if you wanted to hang out with Lunar and Earth while me and Solar track down the evil Sun. You could use the catching up.” Moon seemed like he was more or less forcing Sun. It's not like he could help Solar or Moon much. Hanging out with Earth didn’t sound too bad right now, knowing it was either that or being alone for a while. Sun nodded to Moon’s words and watched as his brother began to speak to Solar again. Leaving Sun with his thoughts as the pair jumped down to the daycare.

Notes:

I have an idea for another fic about Sun loosing his memories and Moon getting to see how Sun used to be before everything went wrong, since we are getting close to the end of this fic and I currently had a request from a friend of mine that way or may not be canon to this fic- it might be a while till I work on something new but I wanna see if it will be something y'all would be interested in so let me know!! ^^

Chapter Text

Walking to the FazCade had been nothing short of a daze for Solar and Moon. The long walk had seemingly made Moon more agitated by the second. A thick silence had covered the pair. A kind that Solar didn't want to be the one to break, tense feeling present in the others systems.
After entering the dimmed area that made up the FazCade, Solar found himself watching as Moon hauled himself up the stairs. He slowly followed the other, trailing behind him as the other held down the boiling rage. Solar cringed at the tension in Moon's figure. Shoulders risen and fists clenched around nothing, creating circle shaped dents in the metal of his palm.

Solar placed a hand on the lunar bot's shoulder and nudged him to face him, the shady door in sight as Moon froze at the touch of Solar's hand. He retracted his hand at the clear discomfort the other had shown and Moon turned towards him. “Moon look- we have no idea what this ‘Sun’ wants, how about we just hear him out and figure out why he is here. No one really would willingly pretend to be Sun for no reason.” He explained, the smooth tone easily seeming into Moon's systems like some kind of relaxant. He let out a deep sigh and pressed a hand to the top of his head.

The lunar bot paused, not ready for the smug Eclipse that laid on the other side of the door. He looked towards Solar and nodded. Silently agreeing with the other on his words and pressed his hand to the chilled door handle. “Yeah. Get the information we need and throw him back into the portal..then we can talk with Sun.” Solar nodded to his lab partner's words.

Moon twisted the handle, swigging the door open and saw how Solar held it open for the both of them. He huffed silently and walked inside, the sound of bells echoed through the empty expanse of space.
Small beeps and the sound of cheap game effects came from some of the arcade machines. Ever since Sun’s odd behavior it seemed the state of the easy to repair machines proved to be rather difficult on Ruin. The step by step manuals that tended to be rather confusing, were still easy to follow along to. It left him wondering if Ruin had even been trying to fix the machines.
Moon shrugged off the idea, ever since providing the cure Ruin had been more closed off than he expected. The previous variant was rather extroverted. There had been a clear difference in their behaviors; he couldn't begin to doubt him now. Not with everything happening.

Approaching the back of the dimly lit run way of arcades had been a daze. Only the sight of an unamused daycare attendant and the lookalike of his best friend could bring him out of it. As Eclipse noticed Moon’s attention had been brought to him and Solar stood off to the side he spoke. “Well. Are you gonna give me a thanks? Any sort of gratitude for catching the culprit. I technically wasn’t wrong and you know that.” He approached Moon, white eyes boring into his jet black ones. Forcing Moon to look up into the beady eyes. He grumbled and turned away, turning his attention to the double that stood in front of him. A strained smile on the other's face and rays strewn in odd positions.

“Awe Moon c’mon..just a little thank you would be appreciated.” Eclipse said, blocking ‘Sun’ away from view. The other didn’t acknowledge him, just a cold glare.

Moon groaned and shoved past Eclipse. “Thanks.” He mumbled, Eclipse raised his hands in a surrender and backed away. Landing himself a spot right next to Solar.
The two eclipses watched as Moon stood before the sun variant. His presence was nothing compared to that of the expression ‘Sun’ had. A still solemn expression as if his fate was accepted at that moment. “What dimension are you from?” The question strung, anticipation that didn’t quite belong in the room. The question had already been answered clearly. Yet the lunar bot just needed to make sure of his hypothesis.

‘Sun’ tilted his head, looking up at Moon. He straightened himself as much as he could with the invisible restraints. “We have met before. I just stole your information. And Sun’s when I met him.” He huffed out, rays spinning around his head in thought before locking in place. “Such an interesting one, he is. Despite everything he still chooses to stay by you. I question that kind of bond. I’ve gotten by just fine in my opinion.” He holds down a quiet snicker and slumps against the machine. Only for him to still be held up in the uncomfortable position. Sky hook pressed against the machine and back forcibly straight. He looked toward Eclipse, the other seemingly prideful of this situation.
“And what does my dimension have that you want?” The question buzzed in his CPU as he tried to properly digest the question and formulate an answer.
‘Sun’ cleared his metaphorical throat and said “Just some old research the original Eclipse made.” Moon felt as Eclipse's prideful grin appeared on his faceplate. Moon hummed at this information and continued. “What are the blueprints you have for?”

He called the large stack of papers, most of it research and calculations beyond him. The name still stood out. Another star, and seemingly more advanced than others he encountered before.

“I think you're smart enough to figure it out.” He followed, Eclipse peered over Moon to the other and stepped forward.
He snarled at him and released the invisible hold, allowing ‘Sun’ to fall to the floor. He brought his hands up to catch himself from falling. A small grunt escaped him. “Why bring me back?” He uttered, Moon looked up at the other and turned to Solar, who stood leaning against one of the machines

“Needed a distraction. I think we all know Moons get rather..distracted when they have a problem they need to solve. I built you so he wouldn’t notice poor little Sunny acting..stranger than normal. And it worked-! For a month no less. You are some family I might say.” He monologued, explaining his rather simple approach to things. He brushed himself off, the dust floating in the air from the previous disturbance. Though, Moon certainly wasn't impressed by his words.

“A month? A MONTH?! You took my brother for a FUCKING MONTH?!” Moon pushed Eclipse aside in an instant, earning a scoff from the taller animatronic. He held up ‘Sun’ by his ruffles and reeled his arm back. The other stared coldly at him preparing for the nasty punch before Solar placed a firm hand on his shoulder.
Moon turned about to direct his anger towards the other but not before dropping ‘Sun’ unceremoniously. He was forgotten on the floor as Moon turned to Solar, though Eclipses glare was pinned to the brighter one on the floor.

“Moon- listen. Let’s just keep him down in parts and service and let’s just talk to Sun okay? Maybe he can give us a proper explanation.” He moved his hand away from Moon and back to his side. Moon let the air from his vents release, a small hiss coming from him in the form of a sigh as tension released from him.

“The hell-??” Eclipse stepped back from ‘Sun’ his gaze turning to Moon and then back to the other.

A garbled sound came from the other on the floor, a mix of static and a low growl had Moon turning around. There in front of him was ‘Sun’ curled in on himself as claws jutted out from his hands. Like the ones Sun used to carry on his old body before he was forced to swap after it under-went severe damage. Rays had been positioned strangely, some had been much more retracted than others. Though what had concerned him the most was the yellow and rustic orange beginning to change into a deep blue.

The circumstances of this universe were far different in regards to the average universes he had seen during his travels. Most had an Eclipse, Sun, Moon and on the occasion a Lunar or Bloodmoon. Earths were more rare than one would think. Though having two Eclipse’s in one world was seemingly impossible. And the strange bond ‘solar’ as he called himself and Moon had was even stranger. In his opinion it was out of the ordinary.

‘Sun’ dusted off his pants and looked up at Eclipse, who seemed proud of himself. He zoned out of the pair's conversation as Eclipse wouldn’t stop staring at him. He felt strange, a tiredness in his body he couldn’t get rid of as he checked his charge. A decent fourth five percent was what he was left with. So that marked off him having a low battery. Hopefully wherever they imprison him has a charger. A sudden sting of pain flooded the back of his head, a sharp stabbing sensation. He bit back a hiss as his fists clenched, he glared at Eclipse from the corner of his eyes. Assuming the other was the cause of his pain he was hit with another rush of pain. The last of it ending with a spread of a burning sensation on the back of his head.

He raised a shaky hand to the back of his head, gripping the side of his faceplate as the burning spread. He endured the pain, still oblivious to where it was coming back. He was going to turn to Eclipse and curse out his creation. Only to feel as his rays were forcibly shoved into his head. His hands no longer being his own as they applied a harsh pressure to the sensitive rays. An unintelligible sound of static forced itself from his voice box. Two pairs of eyes joined the confused Eclipse, a look of pure panic on his face as his pants began to change.
A strangled gasp escaped from him, he scratched the back of his faceplate. A high pitched frequency emerged from his voice box as he faded into a painful unconscious. The world fading into nothing but hues of vibrant purples and pinks he thought he could forget. Accompanied by it was a near constant buzz of pain as he was forced into the back seat of his own head.

Chapter Text

He didn’t bother calling Earth, he almost felt hollow. Sluggish, even as he practically melted into the nearby couch. He had felt so out of touch with things, Moon easily leaving him behind as he took Solar along. He almost felt a pang of twisted jealousy as Solar marched alongside Moon. He felt sick, his nonexistent stomach churning with emotions he wished he couldn’t feel. His precious robotic emotions, as someone had once called them. So long ago it felt foreign, like a distant memory even if it had only been a year or so. Surely he would know, he had been there since the beginning. So much happened in that time, he had been allowed to feel closer than ever to his brother. Only for it to be forcefully ripped from him, it had barely been a year since Moon’s death. A long, painful, and crushing year. Sun ignored the feeling and tucked deeper into the corner of the couch.

“Might I suggest you seek out Earth? Perhaps she can assist with emotional comfort beyond my capacity.” The computer spoke, he recalled when the two- now one, had once regarded him with less respect than the lowest of life forms. Which in turn, only made him hide even more from the voice, his auditory processor was covered with the firm material that covered the couch. He laid there for a moment, before deciding the position was much too uncomfortable. He rolled onto his back, looking up at the ceiling as his skyhook had forced his spine to press upward. He groaned in frustration and flipped over again, his flat faceplate colliding with the couch. Sun proceeded to lay there for what felt like an unpleasant eternity. Just..thinking. Perhaps it would have saved the family the trouble if he never made the interdimensional deal. He knew he had worried Moon, if the way his twin had been so shaken that he even hugged him? It felt strange. Sun didn’t linger too much about how much he missed the simple embrace. A voice over the speakers had brought him out of his thoughts, yet again.

“We have contacted Earth, she will bring items of sentimentality to perform comfort. She will also be accompanied by Lunar.”

That sent Sun sitting back up on the couch and scrambling for his sister’s contact. “No no no-! She d-doesn’t need to be h-here! Tell her I’m fine!” He ordered, receiving nothing from the computer as he dialed his sister’s number urgently.

She picked up quickly. “Sun? The computer said you needed some..assistance with emotional distress? I think that's what they said. I was gonna bring a copy of a few barbie movies and we can drink some tea! Since I do not approve of you’re rather..concerning drinking habits. And in a time like this, a nice warm cup of tea might help! Oh and Lunar said he was gonna bring his switch and a few extra controllers so maybe we can all play something!” She seemed so cheery he almost refused to say no to her.

Almost.

“I-I- uh..You don’t have to come Earth-! I-I’m fine! Promise! Just uhh..Just need to have some healthy time for myself! For uhhh… Self reflection?” The lie was blatantly obvious in his voice it almost hurt. Though, it was once a lie that the old Moon would easily believe. He needed to get out of telling obvious lies, it was like he almost wanted to not be believed..

Earth could feel the lies coming from his nervous, stuttered voice. She frowned lightly, disappointed of how quickly Sun was to deny her help. That her brother didn’t want her there. “You got back earlier this week and I haven’t been able to spend any time with you! Please Sun?” She begged, Sun cringed at the misinformation and sighed. It was better for him to tell her rather than Moon. She deserved to be kept in the loop after all.

“Okay.” He had given in, it wasn’t often he had to say no to her. This was just one of many times her persuasion got the better of him.

Earth was quick to yell with excitement and fill the empty conversation with things they could do. Saying she would meet Sun at the house. Sun simply nodded along, even though it wasn’t a video call. He threw in some small noises of acknowledgment, just to make her feel heard. The call soon ended, flooding Sun in a swarm of displeasuring silence. It’s like how it was in the other dimension, yet he felt significantly more useless that he knew things were going on, and yet he still was doing nothing. Seeing Moon so easily leaving Sun behind and dumping him with their younger siblings half heartedly. He let out a small sigh and forced himself up on the couch. Forcing his body to comply as it just wanted to sink back into the not-so-plush couch. He forced himself up and out of the balcony, an ache spread across his body and was replaced with a sluggish feeling. As if he was just dragging himself.

After managing to reach the teleporter he had been inside of his house, the small area void of any life. He worried for a moment, the thought of his cats lit up in his mind. until light scraping through the walls was heard. He perked up at the noise and followed it, and let out a gasp as he spotted one of his cats, Comet. They had been scratching on the cat post before looking at Sun with curious eyes at the noise he made. The cat's eyes narrowed as they approached Sun, movements slow and alert as Comet managed to get a whiff of the overwhelming smell of sanitizer that never seemed to leave him.

At least he always smelt clean?

The cat retracted and let out a soft meow, brushing up against Sun in the familiar fashion. He let a genuine smile fall across his face. He really had missed his cats, he just needed to find the other one. Usually he found them here, maybe they wandered off somewhere? Sun made his way out of the room, Comet following suit behind him before Sun was stopped in his tracks.

Earth had been holding a couple of bags and talking to Lunar, complaining of again, his habit of leaving the doors open. His cat Midnight followed suit behind them. Midnight had always been one for the outdoors. Sun waved to Earth and Lunar, who had been walking behind Earth. His little brother threw himself at Sun’s leg, squishing the material of his pants as he clung to him. The material that made his pants Earth smiled at the little one’s antics and pulled Sun into a hug after placing the bag filled with random items on the kitchen counter. Sun pet the head of his little brother had he remained attached to his leg. A small laugh bubbling out of his voice box.

Earth released him from the death grip of a hug and coaxed him to sit on the couch. “So! I know we had seen eachother a few days ago and I didn’t notice anything too wrong besides you being rather..shaken up. Did Moon fix your rays?” Sun paused and Earth quickly began to make a mess of his rays. He didn’t stop her as she had strewn them about.

He held his metaphorical breath and looked down “I’ve been gone for a while.. Earth.” He whispered, fear shaken in his voice. She hummed and sat down next to him.

“Well at least you are back, and safe! It’s been a long week.” Her voice was soothing, almost too soothing as he leaned against her.

Sun forced his optics to look at the floor as he spoke, voice shaken and breathy as it left his voice box. “I’ve been gone f-for a month.” His hands dug into the fabric of his pants as Lunar looked at him with skeptical eyes.

“No? You had only been gone for a week until I found you in the woods. Maybe a little more than that but not a month! Unless you got stuck in some time paradox loop thingy. That would be a bit weird.” Lunar explained, he was confused as Sun held onto the fabric of his pants in a vice grip.

Earth let out a hum at his words. “I’m not trying to say your telling of time is wrong or anything Sun but..Lunar is right.” She rubbed her hand against his back and Lunar hopped off the couch.

The younger bot dug through the bag Earth brought in and grabbed the Nintendo, alongside the docking station. Sun watched as Lunar connected the Nintendo.

A solemn look plastered under the smile Sun was forced to wear.

Earth noticed the change in mood and eyed Sun worriedly, a small frown on her moveable face. “Sun?” She said softly, Sun refused to look at her as he sighed.

“I still need to tell Moon everything and I-I know he is going to be upset! I-it was stupid. I was stupid! I made a s-stupid deal with another version of me! To let me take a break, a week at most. A-and I di-didn’t account for the possible time differences and for me I was gone for a week or so? B-but here! Here I was gone for a month!” Sun sat up from the couch frustration bottled in his body. Lunar’s eyes widened more than usual and Earth was near speechless.

“WHAT?!” Yelled Lunar, confusion written over his face. Sun flinched at the sudden loud volume and Earth coaxed him to sit back down, but she stood up herself. Guiding Sun back onto the couch and Lunar just stood shocked, and simply confused.

“Okay! Uh. No yelling Lunar, please, Sun is really scared.. clearly and maybe loud noises aren’t gonna help..?” She practically whispered, Sun picked at the paint of his hands. Trying to focus on anything but the possibilities of when Moon finds out, likely way worse than Lunar’s reaction. Of course, Moon knew Sun had been gone for..an extended period of time. Yet, the circumstances of why, how and when were still unknown to Moon.

He wasn’t ready for that conversation.

Lunar, beginning to ignore Sun’s clear presence and unyielding discomfort, and spoke. “Well! He just told us he was gone for a month! Shouldn’t that raise some questions I don't know?? Red flags! If that wasn’t Sun then who was the one that we have been talking to for the past month? Did Bloodmoon even kidnap him?” Constant questions flooded the air and Sun fell silent.

He shook his head, he had cut off Lunar before they could speak. “I wasn’t, he was though..I haven’t seen him since we switched but I thought- maybe he- me? Was being genuine? And I wasn’t thinking-! And now Moon is gonna-“ Earth placed a hand on his shoulder, brushing her hands against his rays in an attempted soothing manner.

A soft smile plastered on her face, a forced one, but a smile nonetheless. “It will be alright Sun, I will be there to support you when you go tell Moon okay? And Lunar will be there too, right?” She moved her head towards the shortest bot, casting a pleading gaze. The young bot was quick to give in and he nodded. Earth gave him a smile and turned back to Sun. “I’m sure you will be alright”

Sun nodded along to the words of his sister, only then, for his optics to flick towards the door. Hearing as the floorboards creaked and Moon made his way to the living room. Sun shrunk more into the couch, the aura of the room shifted as Moon locked his- red optics onto Sun.

Since when were his eyes red?

His CPU froze and his voice box shrieked as his brother leapt at him, those burning red optics never tore away from his milky white ones. Even as metal claws dug into the fragile casing of his arm and pulled.

Chapter Text

Floating.

That’s what he has been for..how long?

He forgot.

The soft clouds provided minimal comfort to his floating form in the vast expanse of this sick prison he found himself in. His pride and knowledge had been stripped from him long ago, leaving nothing but the feral instinct to rip into the person that caused him to be stuck here.

He was able to see outside but never often. The parasite that controlled his body giving him that false hope of the world that laid just outside the barriers of code. The chains that kept him just out of reach of the cube that held salvation.

He was just a husk, scrapes that provided some sick entertainment to his captor. He struggled against the restraints, the chains held tightly around his nimble wrists dug into his metal. Only a nasty shock is what finally left him limp.

Laid out against the clouds as he regained the senses. The senses he was gifted with. ‘Sunrise’ as the kids in the daycare called him, always reminded him that his senses could easily be stripped from him too. Ever since being put in this stupid place Sunrise found joy in seeing him slowly break. Taking away his sense had been his parasite’s favorite way of reminding him how powerless he was. Constantly reminding him his basic sense could be taken from him.

Just like everything else.

Being an animatronic he was never able to smell, not that he could remember, it had been a long time. Or not, his internal clock was turned off by Sunrise a long time ago. His sense of ‘smell’ though was only some sensors that told him if something was burning or if any toxic gasses were present in the air. He never needed to use those.
The last time Sunrise tried to take the useless sense it took him a long time to notice. He had to check his own systems to realize the function was turned off.

Taste was the same, unless he wanted to lick the clouds that he stepped on everyday. They looked like they would taste okay. Yet, the sense was useless to him. He did have the ability to unlatch his jaw. Yet it wasn’t a feature he particularly liked. Maybe one day he could try to taste something. Sunrise had never tried to take sense, yet. Maybe he too understood it wouldn’t mean anything to him.

His hearing was no different. There was nothing to hear besides his own thoughts in the endless expanse of clouds. He didn’t need to hear anything external. Besides when Sunrise granted him a glimpse of the outside. When Sunrise granted him those glimpses of the outside he often wanted him to hear something. The undying laughter of children was bored into his audio processors. Sun had never taken that sense. There was no point to.

Looking into the clouds wasn’t really his favorite pastime. The purple and pink hues expanded into a horizon he couldn’t measure. They occasionally shifted their places, it was like watching paint dry, but the paint simply never dried. When Sunrise took away that too, he was agitated, which was an understatement. That was the day he struggled most under the encoded restraints on his mental form. It was the nastiest shock he had gotten in his life too. Sunrise often stripped that sense away the most. He found it the most sickening entertainment in watching him writhe in agony.

The clouds had felt nice under his hands, it reminded him of his little nest. The collection of blankets pulled into a mattress just how he liked. He wondered if Sunrise used it like he did. He hoped not! That was his nest, the last thing he felt before he was shoved into this cageless prison. That sense was taken for only..what felt like an eternity. His endless wails and empty threats as he couldn’t grasp the clouds just like he had before. Sunrise, surprisingly, never stripped that sense away after that.

He pushed himself up again, clouds dipping slightly under his feet. The fog of the mindscape began to clear. Clouds shifting in their stationary place as a disorienting image appeared in front of him. It was mine he was in a move theater. Like the one that had been near the daycare. The screen showed the daycare, audio muffled to him as that insufferable voice echoed throughout his prison.

“That children ask about you. You know.” A forced, weak laugh escaped his captor before he spoke again. He only let out a low growl as the screen flickered to different areas of the daycare. “They praise me. For getting rid of you. They never liked you Moon,” The image flickered from the screen in front of him as he tried to run towards it. He never liked the daycare much, but he would give anything to be there again. Chains of code forced him back, he stumbled for a moment before falling onto his knees. “They love me, you must know that by now, they say I slayed the mighty beast they feared.” Sunrise hummed, the image of the daycare fled his vision. Hands dug into the material of his pants, claws dug into the material as he listened to Sunrise’s voice. That awful voice had been the only anchor of life outside his prison. “Well I guess that’s enough. Maybe I might let you out eventually.” Light flickered deep in his chassis, a sparking hope at his words. He should have learned by now, the false hope never did him any good. Though, who was moon?

Oh right, that was his name.

He debated on fighting the encoded restraints, memories flickering in front of him of the pain such defiance cost him. He faded back into the rest of the mindscape. Bright red optics mixed with the purples and pinks he found himself calling the clouds the closest thing he had to a nest. He missed his nest.

Moon had found it hard to keep track of time, the shift of the clouds made time go by slower, he found that out early on in his stay. Finding some scrapped code to possibly twist to let himself out and lock Sunrise away like he wanted to during those first years.

After a close call Sunrise had with his rebellious nature, he stripped him of his knowledge. Leaving Moon to only bear the memories of what he was once capable of. His intelligence had been a gift from their creator. It was a gift Sunrise stole from him, leaving him with the scraps he didn’t need. Instead that gap of what once his knowledge was replaced with anger. Then came the disobedience. As he tried to fight against Sunrise for control. Though it never ended well for him. The effects turned on him tenfold. The chains of code had been locked around him tighter. The shocks delivered if he tried to leave got worse. The damage was irreversible and now he spent his time waiting.

Ready to pounce at the moment Sunrise let his guard down. To pounce on the other and shred him like he wanted to the first time they met in that stupid mirror.
That once cherry voice he couldn’t stand was replaced with the dark and solemn one he knew now. He preferred the cheery one. It made Sunrise feel smaller compared to him. Despite it all, the sun was simply bigger than the moon. He had ended up finding himself in this sick game Sunrise found amusing.
Claws dug into the clouds, the misty yet tangible poofs of color squished under his hands.
His eyes had been getting worse, the once empty pupils had begun to glow with a hue of red. Perhaps it was Sunrise’s doing. Slowly changing his mental form into something he couldn’t recognize. Or maybe it was linked to the burning sensation on the back of his head.

The hue of the lights had always gotten brighter over time and the frequency Sunrise showed him the outside had begun to happen less and less. The visits got shorter as he slowly became a silly memory to laugh at.
That stupid parasite.

Moon grumbled it all began to feel like a haze, hours and days blend together in an unpleasant blur of time. The simple bright red glow of his pupils had spread to his vision. Casting a hazy red glaze over it. It annoyed him after the initial discovery, yet, he learned to deal with it just like everything else.

Something was wrong, or at least felt wrong. He had been forced out of one of his prolonged rest modes. It was often that he took long naps or slept just to pass the time, it was better than to try and fight the underlying hunger he felt in his systems. It had been a while since it had gotten that bad. Nearly where he couldn’t avoid the emptiness of his stomach or the temptation to unlatch his jaw and sink his blunt teeth into something. The urge had always been there, even in his early days. Using his skills he was able to suppress the urge by filling his mind with other things. Without it, the feeling had only grown. As slow as it was, it was there.

Sunrise had opened his optical view for Moon to see, the window to the outside had been strange. Right there, in the window, was Sunrise. With the total nine rays and bright yellows that colored him. The vibrant colors almost gave him a headache, the red haze over it all certainly didn’t help. He let out a growl as his burning gazed looked at the other. Sunrise stepped back. It took Moon a moment to really grasp the situation.

He could see Sunrise. Outside of his body.

At first, he wanted to lunge at the other, to sink his claws and rip out the very core that kept him up. The binds of code still tight against his wrists as Sunrise began to walk away. Dropping himself into the ballpit and seemingly disappearing.

Where did he go?!

Why was Sunrise outside of their body? And if he was out..why was he still here? Why was he still left to rot?!

He struggled against the tight links of code, his eyes trailed on where Sunrise was just a moment ago, he wasn’t able to hear. Maybe Sunrise wanted that. To not even hear any type of communication as he is simply abandoning him in an empty shell of a body. To let this seemingly empty vessel rust and wither away. He yelled, shouted, struggled despite knowing the common consequences.

A warmth seeped from the restraints, the warmth turned to a heat like no other.

Then the shocks began.

The burning red of his optics turned up a notch, nearly entirely blinding him in red. The feeling of electricity overflowing his systems stuck him. Power his body couldn’t handle blew over him in waves. His knees gave out first, falling into the cushion of the clouds. He couldn’t find his voice, the urge to scream and beg for the pain to stop was there. Yet nothing came out, not a single sound.

Sunrise turned off his voice box.

His body buzzed, a pain he couldn’t even vocalize. He couldn’t even let him scream or yell as he watched that stupid parasite leave their body behind. He sank against the clouds, blotches of oily tears fell onto the clouds with a pathetic splat. No cries to vocalize, there was nothing.

Just him, and an undeniable anger he had for the one that left him here. The one that shoved him in the dark, and dared to even try and make a truce all those years ago. Now he was stuck.

Stuck in a body he couldn’t control.

He went back to sleep.

The next time he woke up he was welcomed by a burning sensation, the window had long since disappeared. He winced as the wires on his head burned. As if something was melting them off. Perhaps it had been something in the real world, finally something putting them out of his misery. Or maybe Sunrise decided to get rid of him. All he knew was that he was mad about it. He needed to get outside of this stupid place before he could die!

He needed to get revenge on the one that left him here. He assumed Sunrise had separated themselves from him. The bastard using his own intelligence against him. It was the only conclusion he came to, why else would he have been able to see Sunrise in the optical feed?

Moon made his way back to where the cube was, the links of code keeping him just out of range for it. It was tempting. The light blue floating cube that gave him sanction was just out of reach. He fluffed up some of the clouds, providing a soft cushion as he sat down and entered, what he hoped to be another prolonged rest mode.

Smell, he was able to smell something, it wasn’t a normal sensor telling him some chemicals were within the air. It was able to smell something, the sanitizer Sunrise always coating their body with, the strong smell of it nearly burnt his processor with the abundance of it. Was this some sort of method to his torture? Used his senses against him now? He hadn’t been able to smell the outside world before? What was so different now? He raised his head, the scent getting stronger had he looked through the optical view, which was opened.
The area he was at seemed to be casted in darkness, perhaps Sunrise turned off the lights? But how long had that been open?

He stood for his spot on the floor, the soft cotton like clouds got caught in his claws as he stood. He pulled them out of the soft material and approached the window. He attempted to retract the sharp blades but found them stuck in place. He grumbled and lifted his head to see the screen. There, instead of Sunrise, which he had seen last. Or maybe Monty, who had stopped seeing them at the daycare for a while. He saw himself. The same blue cap, blue paints and annoying bells. Minus the red eyes he acquired during his stay. And some sort of solar model, he had the rays of Sunrise. Yet, this one was wearing a t-shirt and goggles on their head. The body had stood tall, clearly leaning against something. There had been talking, talking he couldn’t hear. Turns out Sunrise never turned his audio processor back on. He growled at the inconvenience. It wasn’t like he could lip read. All DCA faces had never had the ability to emote. The red haze over his eyes had made it difficult to even view the conversation itself. He took a step forward, the chains linking around him forced him to stop. He pulled against his again, the burn he was used to finding after such a tug wasn’t there. He glanced back where his wrist was held in confusion and tugged harder, finding no other type of resistance besides the chain itself.

No shocks, no burns.

He looked back up at the optical view, this time the window provided a look of the floor, showing three pairs of feet when he stood. The looked to be of similar origin to him. Two pairs of the shoes are the casual DCA slippers while the last one wore a pair of boots.

Who moved the body?

This isn’t the daycare.

A weight fell from him, still no sounds followed to guess what exactly fell He looked down to see the greatest scene in his life since being trapped here. Sinking into the clouds was one of the chains that bound him. The jumble of ones and zeros that kept him here dissolved into the fluffy floor. He turned back to the scene in front of him, the blue cube sat like the best prize in the carnival. Right there, was it in his reach now? maybe if he reached out and-

He was ripped out of his place within the mindscape. An empty chain that was once locked around his wrist laid empty on the floor.

Looking around the area he found himself in he felt a sense of familiarity, and a distinct, yet weak smell of sanitizer. He picked up his head, before leaping back in defense, the copy of him was right in front of him. Their hands held in front of themselves as they walked towards him. He couldn’t hear their words, if they were even speaking. Why did they make a replacement? Did Sunrise do this? That burning ache of his head caused his joints to lock for a moment.

He winced as the burning increased, the smell in the air almost leading him on. It gave him relief, but only for a moment. This copycat Moon contained most of the smell, he smelt more of oil and WD-40. A low snarl left him, he couldn’t even hear his own voice. He knew he needed to get out, to do something! To find the source.

Sunrise was the source.

He ignored the very one sided conversation in front of him. Avoided the three pairs of eyes as they stared at him like some beast. And maybe that was what he was. A beast, a thing to be feared. He enjoyed that. A small vibration left his voice box, the closest thing he could make to a laugh. A single ounce of relief was given as he stood, his joints had felt stiff and sore, he hadn’t done this in a while..

No sounds filled his mind as a pierce of pain hit him. He held his head as whatever was in his head tried to push back out. He growled in agitation and held his head. Shaking as he tried to run from the source of the pain. He let his feet carry him, using a nearby surface to pull him out of his disorientation.

He ran towards the smell. Despite how he struggled during the first attempts at running. A vibration exited his voice box, a threatening sound he hoped. Running past the group as he made a dash for the nearest exit and following the strong scent of sanitizer.

Never able to hear their yells after they chased after him.

He ended up skipping the stairs, jumping over onto the first floor, maybe he could’ve asked the copycat where that WD-40 was that he smelt. I would’ve been useful. Wait! He didn’t have time for that! He shook himself from his rambling thoughts and tore open a vent, sliding his nimble body through the vent as he hauled himself out. The vent system allowed him many more fast routes to his destination. The small area was caked with cobwebs and mini music men that ran as he made his appearance in the ventilation system known. In some places the smell grew weak, knowing he was going in the wrong direction. The area left him nearly blind, searching and smelling for the way to end the ache that left him hunting for Sunrise. If he could just get to him already- one of the vent covers fell down below, his weight causing the thin metal cover to break on. He couldn't hear if someone was following him, he just kept crawling until he found what he was looking for. Until he did.

The area he found himself in thrived of the smell. It gave him a headache at how apparent it was, the area was colorful and nostalgic. Of course it would be, this was his home. The closest thing he had to one before he was left in that prison.

The colors bored into his eyes, nearly burning into the optical feed, but yet the smell still led somewhere else. He growled and followed where the urge took him. It let to a window, much like the ones he had seen in his mind, yet this one looked out to an island, trees and the ocean breeze shown through the small window. When didn’t get here? How was such a thin- ACK! He felt a stab against his head. The parasite clearly didn’t want him near this window, he pushed the other down and pressed his hand against it, a surprised yelp hit him as he found himself elsewhere.

He had never heard of a window that could make him teleport. It reminded him of something vaguely familiar. Maybe he had tried to make something like this? Back when he was still someone. He growled and shook his head. There was to time to reminisce on the past when he could ruin someone’s future. He felt his feet carry him, leading him to a house. The area surrounding him was nothing but water, and a house in the dead center of it all. He didn’t have time to care, to explore. Though a deep part of his curious mind wanted to, he needed to end this. He felt sick, like there had been a pit in his stomach. After nearly collapsing onto the sand he followed his path. A sick grin on his face as the pit of his stomach grew. It wasn’t a feeling of unease.

It was hunger.

He knew he could unlatch his jaw, the teeth were blunt rather than sharp, would that matter if he picked his food small enough to chew?

The door had been opened, and his headache grew. Red flashing in front of him. He felt eyes on his, feet shuffling against the floor board, some his felt shift slightly under his weight.

He locked eyes with Sunrise, thoughts pounding in his head to give the other all the pain he felt to make him go through it all. To relive the past he had to endure after all this time stuck in their head. Sunrise looked back at him, a somewhat warmth to him that some would take for kindness in such a bright person. He couldn’t tear his eyes away. The other shrunk under his gaze, eyes simply ignoring the undying tension and presence of the other two figures in the room. He couldn’t care, he wouldn’t care. Sun would relive all the pain he felt in a matter of seconds. Maybe he should draw it out more, take the less vital parts and enjoy the satisfaction of ripping his core.

He was glad he still had just claws, they were useful as he dug the sharp and sturdy metal into his arm. Ripping into the limp as oil leaked, he wished he could hear the screams. Enjoy just the little pleasure of finally inflicting the pain on the one he hated most. To finally..to finally kill Sunrise.

This would be the last day the sun rose, the last day he would ever go into his mind again. He unlatched his jaw. The horror in those milky white eyes as it just wouldn’t stop.

He sunk his teeth into the wound he ripped open, bitter and such sweet oil filled his sensors. A sickening laugh left him, gurgled by the oil flooding his mouth.

Sure, he couldn’t hear Sunrise or the surrounding people. But he could feel the fruitless kicks Sunrise delivered. Or tiny hands trying to rip him off. And the horrors expression of the girl next to him as they locked eyes. He delivered as much as a smile as he could with his current..distraction as the joints from Sunrise popped out of the socket. He lazily cut the wires that connected the limp to his torso and lazily tossed it over the couch. The girl pulled him off, a growl emitted from his voice box as he jumped back on Sunrise, his kicks became slow and sloppy. The duo tried to pull him off, a pressure hit him from behind as glass shattered over Sunrises body and himself. He winced as a small shard feel between the gap of his shoulder. He turned, just his head to look behind him, his hands busy cutting tubes of oil and staying clear of any wires that could touch the oil. It would be a shame if Sunrise became like his name sake and caught a flame.

He stared at the one behind his, tearing away one of his hands and grasping their wrist. The small lavender bot flinched and dropped the bottle with now jagged edges. Oil dribbled from his mouth as he sunk the glass into Sunrise’s eye. He ripped the glass out, only for it to take the eye with it, wires followed and oil flooded the area the optic was.

Sunrise when still.

Something hit his head, another bottle he presumed, a wire was cut. The warming symbol flashed over his eyes before he smelt smoke.

Today was the first for a lot of things, but he knew today would be his last.

His and Sunrise’s last day.

Notes:

Just something to note, Sunrise's Moon believes that Sunrise abandoned him in their body and installed something that still kept him still trap in the mindscape. He doesnt realize that the Sun he went after wasn't his Sun. Not that he would care if it was in the first place. But let me know what you think! I think I did alright for my first time writing robot gore.

Also this chapter was the longest I've written-

Chapter 21

Summary:

Yayayayayayaya We get to see Solar's and Moon's reaction.

Chapter Text

Earth had long since called Solar in a panic, the scene sparked a positive acknowledgement that she hadn’t eaten anything that day, if she did she would have been sick. This scene was already bad enough. Watching her brother go mad and-

She couldn’t steer her eyes away, despite how much Lunar pushed her she just couldn’t. Sun laid limp against the couch, chest cavity filled with dark oil. An arm fell over the side of the couch while the other was thrown between the kitchen island and behind the couch. One of his cloudy white eyes hung by a wire, swinging over the side of the couch. Tears the same color as her brother's blood dripped down her face. She covered her mouth to muffled her sobs. Her dress, now stained with his blood.

A crackle of static sounded, and then “Earth? Hello?? Earth to Earth?” Solar’s confused voice ripped through the call, she couldn’t stop sobbing, tripping over her words as Lunar simply stared. The body of his older brothers
Against the couch, Moon had nearly caught both of them on fire with the frayed wire.

“S-Solar-! H-he is gone! They.. are both-“ She sniffled, a scream wracked through her as she fell to her knees. The door burst open. Shaking the floorboards. The house was void of life besides the sobs of Earth.

After finding themselves outside the arcade they followed the noises emitting from the vents. Listening for the noises the other moon made. As they did one of the vent covers from above fell, ironically hitting Moon as it fell from its place on the ceiling. The other let out a string of curses and took a moment to gather himself. Solar bid Moon a quick glance before following the noise from the vents.
The vents had been a good idea for that moon apparently, since he lost them after a good minute of chasing.

Solar slammed his fist on a nearby wall before circling back to the daycare.

The trip had been disappointing, they now had the issue with Eclipse's creator making some grand escape using..a feral moon. He covered his face with a groan and yelled out. “Computer!” He waited a moment, a voice exited the speakers. “Yes Solar?” Spaniard said, awaiting their new directive from Solar.

“Can you find that sun by finding their dimensional signature and tracking it?” He asked, he sat, expecting the request to take some time. He sat in one of the security desk chairs, about to pull up Earth's number to let her know about the situation and to stay clear of any moon with red eyes. He was surprised to hear the computer respond a second later before he could type the text.

“Isolating signature complete, sending location now.” Solar looked confused at first and looked towards the speakers.

True to their word they sent him the tracker link, the coordinates looked familiar he just needed to track it down. “That was quick, had that on stand by or something?” He jested, he was about to walk out of the daycare before Spaniard continued.

“We have known about this alternative Sun for a long time, who do you think accepted Sun’s 127 entry requests?” Solar paused and appeared shocked.

“That was Sun??” Solar sighed and covered his face. “Of course. Just explain later alright?” He walked towards the doors of the daycare and spotted Moon, he quickly explained the computers break down and Moon seemed rather baffled by their knowledge and agreed to pry the computer for more when they got back.

For now they entered the coordinates and were shaken to their core to see it was on an island.

The island Sun and Moon lived on.

Ironically the same place Sun, Earth and Lunar were all located.

They had never run to the portal faster than they had that day.

It took a moment for him to gather himself as he arrived on the island, but as he did he made his way to the front door. As he did he could only run faster. A distance away he could near Earth’s yells, the smash of a bottle and a yelp from..someone. The door to the house had already been opened and Solar turned to check where Moon was, but it looked like he hadn’t followed him through the portal yet. He was just a moment away..Solar thought to himself as he stepped inside the house.

The scene in front of him was horrific to no end. A single arm had been laid against the floor, it belonged to a Sun model, clearly. The dulled yellows now caked with oil. It was his left arm, and a large chunk seemed to have been taken out of the limb. He paused, sobs echoed throughout the house that sounded oddly like Earth. “H-he’s DEAD!” Solar rushed inside to get a close look at the scene. Bad was an understatement for what he saw. Oil had soaked the couch and a good section of the carpet surrounding it. Earth had been a mess, some splotches of oil had made its way into her hair causing a noticeable discoloration to the previously soft and silky white hair. Lunar was better in the terms of cleanliness, but the look of emptiness he wore made him worry. The scene was far worse once he stepped onto the carpet, turning to see where the eyes of his cousins were glued to. He wasn’t sure what to expect at first.

But it wasn’t this.

Sun laid against the couch, motionless. An arm hung over the couch limp, dripping oil from the tips of his fingers. His pants had been coated by his own oil, previously bright yellow and copper colored pants now drenched in black. One of the previously cloudy eyes now hung out of its socket. On the other eye, a single watered down oily tear dropped from the rim of its socket. He let out a shaky sigh and looked at the rest of him. His chest had entirely collapsed inward, more oil splatter and chucks of metal. Walking up to Sun, he nearly tripped and looked down to see someone else.

On the floor had been Moon, but not his Moon. This Moon had those red optics, now flickering as his body convulsed. Solar's feet had been glued to the floor, initial shock covered him. He bent down and unplugged the cut wire. Their body went still and sagged on the floor. He lightly moved the other lunar model aside and stepped over them. The scene was awful. Watching as Earth simply broke down, she had collapsed whispering apologies that hadn’t been directed at anyone.

Solar looked up from his place near Sun to see the person he was most worried about.

Moon was an absolute mess.

A choked sob escaped him as he crouched down next to Sun, grabbing onto the limp one’s shoulder and shaking him. “Sun? Heyhey hey- Sun? Sun please say something..anything. Sun! Please JUst saying SOMETHING!” Solar placed a hand on his shoulder as he stood, Moon wouldn’t look at him. “SUN. You can’t- you can’t die on me S-SUN! PLEASE WAKE UP.” Two little splotches of oil joined the puddle with Sun’s now nearly hollow chest cavity.

Earth looked up between the two Moons, the one now limp on the floor and her brother. She sobbed and she drew her brother into a tight hug. Moon fought against her arms, trying to reach his brother on the couch. Lunar walked up to Moon, wrapping his arms around one of his legs. But he just wouldn’t tear his eyes away from the bloodied version of his brother. Solar knew just by that moment Moon would never be able to erase this scene from his mind.

He felt a pang in his chest as Solar craned Sun’s head up. It allowed him to look at all the vital machinery on the back of his head. all components were in perfect condition. Solar let out a sigh at that and allowed the other's body to rest against the couch again.

He had seen this scene before, of a grieving brother and a lifeless body laying limp against the surface it laid on. Except this time, Sun would live, he would be okay. He would have the chance that his Sun didn’t. Solar pushed down the horrible memories of his home dimension and turned back to the family that stood behind him. There was now an empty place in that family. “Sun is going to be okay. His memory, and personality chip at all intact, his body is just..heavily damaged.” Earth let out a weak sob and spoke up.
“S-so he will..r-remember me? What e-even was tha-t! W-where did h-he come fr..from?” She asked, pointing towards the lunar model on the floor.

Solar stepped over the body of that moon and walked over to his own, drawing Moon into a light hug. “That Sun you found in the forest Lunar, wasn’t Sun. He was another Sun from a different dimension where clearly, they hadn’t split yet. Why is his Moon out right now in the light? No idea. His transformation into Moon had been random to say the least.” He let out a sigh as he comforted his distraught best friend.

Moon nearly crumbled to the floor if it hadn’t been for Solar’s assistance. “I should’ve protected him- he was the last one of us who hadn’t died-! H-he wasn’t..he wasn’t supposed to die!” He cried out for his brother. Moon had been the first to rip his eyes away from the scene. Solar held Moon into a tighter hug, which the other accepted with a squeeze back.

“Moon- you know. we should take him to parts and service, tell the computer to order a new frame for him. I can carry him. Earth, Lunar? Will you be alright here? We will be back as soon as we can but..He will be okay. Just out of commission for a bit. We will come back and get that other Moon later. Just..stay safe.” Solar was pulled into an endo-crushing hug by Earth as she sniffled, but she nodded against the top of his head. Solar wriggled out of the hug and gave her as much of a confident smile as he could.
Earth wiped her eyes and turned away from Sun, instead she bent down over to Lunar and held him in a tight hug. “It will be okay. They know what they are doing. How about we go take care of Sun’s cats while he is getting..back in order?” Lunar agreed with a simple nod and they quickly went to the basement, where the cats ran in the midst of all the chaos.

Solar turned towards Moon and felt as if a stake had been dug into his motherboard as he spotted the other crouching over his brother. Whispering things he couldn’t make out, promises and apologies he knew Sun couldn’t hear, but it brought comfort for him as he stood. “I-I don’t know if I can handle.. Carrying him..” Solar nodded and looked at Sun. The state the other was in was still beyond disturbing, no wonder Moon could hardly look at him. Solar brought up a hand and unplugged the optic from its wire, disconnecting the eye and he placed it in Sun’s lap. His frame had been oddly lighter, but due to a missing arm and a ton of oil loss..it would likely do that to someone. Solar cringed as he lifted Sun from his placement on the couch and carried him out of the house. The sun had nearly been set now, leaving the island coating in a warm red hue. Solar made his way to the teleporter and allowed himself to be taken back to the daycare. Moon trailing behind him and Sun’s lifeless body in his hands. He held it together though, he had to, for his and the family's sake.

Notes:

Sorry if this work has been all over the place- I have been hopping from plan to plan to idea to idea. The first time I made a general outline for this fic Sun was never supposed to die, but my hands do funny things on the computer as I type and here we are! Hope you enjoyed this chapter as I go into my little hole and fetch random ideas to put together and somehow mash into a chapter.

Chapter Text

It didn’t take long to get Sun to parts and service, Solar laid the limp attendant against the chair located within the cylinder. Right before beginning to clear up his chest cavity, which held most of the oil. He had seen this sight before. A Sun model laid out against a table, eye lights dimmed and lifeless. Solar couldn’t help but think of his brother, to remember. He heard some bells approach. He turned to see Moon, carrying his alternative over his shoulder. “I got the order placed with the computer..it might take a few days.”
Said with a sigh as he leaned his copy against the outer cylinder. Solar left Sun against the chair and made his way to Moon outside.

He sat with his friend for a moment, the silence carrying on before he heard some sniffling from Moon. “I failed him, Solar. Sun was the last member of this family to never die..I was supposed to be better than the old Moon. He kept Sun alive-! And now..How stupid have I been?” A wave of tension fell into the room, Solar didn’t know how to respond. But this question wasnt one he could answer.
“Moon..you know Sun wouldn’t want you to say that.” He placed a hand on his friends shoulder.

“I-I failed him Solar! I was supposed to keep everyone safe! And I couldn’t do this ONE THING! This one..thing..to keep Sun safe.” Solar noticed his looping, just Moon constantly circling back to the same thing like a broken record. He hummed and stood up. He walked into the cylinder and plugged Sun into some outlet.

Moon looked confused. “Solar, we can’t do anything without a new body for him- what are you..?” Solar walked back out of the cylinder and grabbed Moon, dragging him to the computer and pulling up Sun’s memory files. “Solar- I don’t want to invade his privacy like this.” He was about to step away before Solar opened up the memory folder, which led to more and more folders. “Jesus Christ. He even organizes his memory files-“ Moon said, unable to tear his eyes away. Some of the files were locked, likely with a password only Sun knew. But others weren’t. Most were just moments with the family, and others were much more harder to look through. Solar found a simple memory and began to play it.

It was one of the first episodes of their show together, it may have not been him in the video, his voice was much too raspy.

Now, he got to hear the smile in his brothers voice again, it felt nice. He imagined those times were simpler, compared to that of now..he was almost jealous of the life the old Moon was gifted with Sun. Well..almost was the keyword here. Moon smiled at the sound of his brothers voice, where curiosity and just the silly energy he used to always carry prospered. To see through the eyes of his brother was a bit weird, but these were Sun’s memories. He nearly found himself tearing up to hear how happy his brother used to sound. He knew what he needed to do when Sun woke back up.
To promise to take care of him, to love Sun like he had always deserved. That’s all Sun deserved in the first place.

Solar let out a small laugh at the memory and moved onto the next one.

He chest felt empty, that’s all he felt after the pain had long subsided.

He didn’t know what to feel. His own brother- he didn’t want to remember it.

Sun felt sick, which was strange since robots can’t get sick. All the saw was inky black as voices surrounded him, one out of the four voices was female. That’s all he could tell. He just wanted to keep his eyes shut and sleep, feel as the motions take him.

“Su…- a..re yo….ake?” The female voice cut in. Sun let out a groan, which was surprising since he thought his voice box got destroyed during the..attack.

Great, now he felt sick again.

He felt as a pair of arms were placed on his shoulder, he yelped and his eyes flew open wide. In front of him had been Earth, but it wasn’t Earth. It was the outdated model of Earth. Her overwhelmingly blue eyes looked right into his. “Sun? Are you alright? What are you doing here?” She asked, Sun was honestly confused too.

He expected hell to be more..firey. Not a white room with rules about how to play uno and decorative plants that totally looked plastic. “What is this place?” He said, holding his head, the room was much too bright for his sensitive optics. Which would have been something he was used to if his right optic wasn’t entirely blacked out. Despite both of his eyes being opened, his right optic gave no visual input and had a simple ‘OPTICAL ERROR’ in red over the abyss of black.
“Well..this is afterlife Uno! I don’t really know why I am here since I never technically died, but I guess my body did? It’s strange. But welcome! It’s unfortunate to have you here!” She said in a cheery voice as she offered him a hand up. Sun gladly took it and looked around the room. His one functioning eye casted onto some funny looking gator, he looked like Monty but more..what’s the word? “Aye mate, whatchu starin’ at?” The gator said, Sun clearly portrayed a face of shock and confusion as they spoke again.
“I’m Montgomery’s father. Kinda got hit with one of the ole’ golf clubs.” Sun simply nodded along and looked around the rest of the room.

There had been a mirror, and a figure in its reflection made him turn around. “KILLCODE?!” He said, nearly fumbling backwards as he stepped away. They were MUCH taller than he remembered. And resembled what he looked in the mindscape, which he only knew from watching the videos and Lunar’s description of the guy.

“Hello…Sun.” He said, voice still terrifyingly deep as ever. Sun shivered and backed away.
“Why am I..” He whined, bumped into one of the fake plants as he stepped away.

“I think it’s pretty obvious. You’re dead.”

Sun shook his head and sank to the floor. “I c-can’t be! Then where is Moon?!” He cried out. “That’s all I want! If I am dead then I want to see the old Moon!” Sun sniffled and cursed his nonfunctional eye as Earth looked at him. Her voice was trying so hard to be soothing. “It doesn’t make sense Earth..”

“Well Sun..we don’t know either. We had a theory that Moon isn’t here because..well. He never ‘died’. He just lost his memories. Or the fact his body was never destroyed. It would explain why I am here as well. But I’m sorry Sun..he just isn’t here.” She rubbed his back and hummed as he processed it all. His twin would never be able to join him. He whined, she wouldn’t even know what he would feel if he saw Moon. And those red eyes he had..Sun took a few deep breaths like the living Earth taught him and leaned against the Earth next to him. She wrapped an arm around him and gave him company.

After a few minutes of the silence she spoke. “Want to play a game of Uno? We have been getting pretty good since there isn’t really anything else to do here.” Sun weakly smiled and nodded. Earth helped him up as they began a game of Uno.

Chapter Text

Purple and pink clouds were all he could see, again. Why was he awake? Moon shot up and looked around, he growled as he spotted Sunrise just a distance away. The mental version of Sunrise stood tall and stiff, hands behind his back and turned away from Moon. “You [REDACTED] up Moon. Ha. big time. Now you might get both of us killed-!” The parasite laughed. A wheeze finally stopping the fury of laughter.

“I killed you.” Moon snarled, crouched down in the clouds as Sunrise was still turned away from him. “Why are you still here?!” He jumped to pounce on the other, to rip this one to shreds too. He was going to free himself from this stupid leech.

Familiar chains locked around him wrists and stopped him inches away from the target. Despite how hard he tugged, shocks never came. Yet these chains were tighter, hardly any slack where he stood. He reached out to his other, only to be pulled back again. “HOW?!” He yelled, the code of the chains dug into his wrists.

“You didn’t kill me. You think I’d risk leaving you alone in our body? Why would I create some other program to keep you locked away? You aren’t worth that effort.” He tsked, during his back towards the feral one.

Moon’s eyes burned with that ruby red, Sunrise just stood his ground inches away from the other. “You killed an innocent Sun. That wasn’t me you killed, and now you are gonna get both of us killed for that stunt you pulled.” Sunrise huffed, taking a step away from Moon. The chains pulled harder, dragging him onto his knees against the soft cloudy floor.

Moon huffed as he was forced to look up at Sunrise, the expression he wore was cold. Almost pity as he looked at the his other half. “I don’t know why I kept you around. I think I was going to one day give you a body. Out of pity. Or just put you in a computer. But this? You ruined this. And I won’t tolerate such.” He crouched down to be on Moon's level. He typed something into his little arm compartment and glanced back at Moon for a moment more. “In this dimension I’ve seen how things could have gone. What we could have had as brothers. And honestly. It would’ve been nice, Moon. But you loved having control more than you could have ever loved me. I’m not sorry.” Sunrise let a soft smile fall onto his face, the most emotion he had shown to him in what felt to him like years.

It probably was years now that he thought about it.

Moon yelped as a spike of pain hit him, his head felt light and slow. As fluffy as the clouds he stood on. Sunrise simply stared as Moon crumbled onto the clouds of the mindscape. Searing white hot pain lasted only a moment as his mind and body went numb. “Maybe things could have been different.” Sunrise said solemnly as Moon looked at him. Moon couldn't even cry, just a pained look as his code felt.. strange. A strangled noise left him as it felt he was being ripped apart.

He curled in on himself, his head felt like it split into two as he saw nothing but ones and zeros slip from his form. In the mindscape he wasn’t a physical form, just a combination of ones and zeros that gave him a visual feed of his own mind.

And now the very code that made himself, slipped from him. He growled and snarled, fighting with all he had and all he was.

It wasn’t enough, it proved that as his code faded into nothingness.

Sunrise stood from where he was and stepped around where Moon once laid. Hands held behind his back as he touched the blue cube. As left his place among the pink and purple hued clouds. Ignoring how some neglected jumble of meaningless numbers settled back into the clouds.

Solar had left Moon down in parts and service, allowing the other some alone time as he reviewed old memories. It managed to lighten the mood. To hear the genuine laugh of his brother again after losing him. He had sounded so lively. Now, Sun was on the table sprawled out like some lab experiment. The sight still made Solar feel sick. It reminded him of someone from his past. Who looked too similar to the sight he was seeing at this moment.

Moon began to shuffle through the memories, and Solar let him be. He just hoped he didn’t look at anything too disturbing. He knew the old Moon had been less than nice to Sun. He trusted Moon to not look through those older, and much more hidden files. He wouldn’t put it past Sun if those files were stored in the locked one they noted.

The nice eclipse found his way back to the island where Earth and Lunar were. The pair had been down in the basement, ignoring the scene left behind on the first floor. He stepped inside, and ignored the sight ahead. Solar kept his eyes glued to the floor as he walked past the scene. He made his presence known with his heavy footsteps. Boots conking against the wood. He saw a puff of white cloud-like hair and hummed. Lunars iconic hat was a bit harder to see from behind the couch due to his small figure. Solar sighed and walked towards the front of the couch.

Earth and Lunar had been cuddling with the two cats, Midnight in Earth's lap. Comet had been kneading the fabric of Lunars night cap like dough. A small silence cast over the two before Solar spoke. “He is in parts and service, Moon didn’t want to leave his side so he is in there. We can’t do anything to get him up and running until we get the new frame.” Earth turned towards Solar, faint streaks of tears on her face and she nodded with a silent acknowledgement.
“Are his memories alright? Will he still be the same Sun?” Earth sniffled, but it was apparent her watered down oil reserves were empty. Or else she would have been crying.
“His memories are fine, Moon is actually looking at them.. some of their old gaming videos and just some stuff him and Sun did..I thought it would be best to show him.” Solar

“And that other Moon? What even was that? One second I thought Sun and Moon were going to have an argument and the next I was begging Moon to stop and- And Lunar hit him on the back of the head with a bottle-!” Lunar leaned against his older sister and she fell silent.

Solar let out a sigh and let out a puff of air from his vents. “Well we all know that, that- wasn't Moon. That was actually a Sun and Moon who never separated. But that Sun had been posing as Sun for.. we actually have no idea. Apparently the computer knows! But they haven’t told us yet.” Solar sat down in front of the two and sighed.
“Whatever happened there? It wasn’t your fault. That Moon.. was unpredictable. And he could have hurt either of you but he- he just wanted Sun. And don’t blame yourself.” Solar said.
Earth replied with nothing but a sniffle and nodded. Lunar picked up the cat that stood on his head and placed the feline onto his lap. Solar sighed and stood up. “I’m gonna go clean up. But can you keep an eye on Moon for me and meet him at the daycare? I don’t want him to do anything.. irrational.”

Lunar let out a small hum of agreement and spoke. “So Sun is gonna be okay?” His voice was small and worrisome. Solar nodded and put on as much of a smile he could, for their sake. Earth took the hand of her little brother and led them back upstairs. Making sure to turn the little one away as they passed the couch and made their way outside.

Solar brought up Moon’s contact on his little arm computer and looked at the little twilight sparkle sticker he had. He let out a sigh and dialed Moon. It took a moment for the other to pick up. “Solar?” Moon's voice crackled through the voice call. Despite sounding relatively fine just an hour ago. It was clear that the shock had worn off.
“Hey. Lunar and Earth are on their way, meet them at the daycare. I’m gonna clean up here alright?” Solar looked at the sight before him and tore his gaze away. He heard Moon roll around in the rolls chair in the background, wheels against the hard floor of Parts and Service.
“I don’t want to leave Sun..-“ Moon complained on the other end. Solar sighed and spoke again. “Moon please. Sun will be okay.” The next thing he heard was akin to a choked sob.
“But he isn’t! He is in parts and service broken! Missing his ARM! The chest is fully caved in and he is drained of his oil reserves! How is that fine?! My brother is dead! Gone! His is just.. just scraps and memory files!” Moon sobbed, Solar wished he hadn’t shown him those memory fragments, what the heck did he come across? He sent a message to Earth and Lunar, telling them to see Moon in parts and service.

Solar paused and spoke, he wasn’t the best at comforting. Yet, Moon desperately needed it. “Moon. Sun is okay, his wires, memory files, and personality chip are all intact. Sun is there, it's just.. a cosmetic issue. Sun wouldn’t want to wake up looking like that. We just have to wait to get him a new body, like last time, whenever he blew up with star power?” Solar reassured, simply just buying time till the ones with greater comfort experience can step in. “Trust me I’m scared to, walking into that was a nightmare and I can’t even imagine what that was like for you. But you have Earth and Lunar, they are a great support system. Let them help. I’m sure they are just as scared as you.” Solar held his breath as the door to parts and service opened within the background. He hung up before Moon could say anything else.
Solar pressed a hand to his face, and quietly got out the cleaning supplies Sun often used. They seemed brand new, like no one had been using them. Maybe used one or twice, Solar hummed and took out the harsh cleaning chemicals from their cabinet. He grabbed a clean rag and began to get to work.

The smell of the oil would likely forever cling to him, he thought as he began to wipe away the remnants of oil on the leather couch. Maybe he should just suggest Moon getting a new couch, it might not be best to keep the couch your brother nearly died on as a seating area. Solar brushed the thoughts away and continued cleaning.

I don't even know what I'm doing with this work anymore- and I have a hard time just leaving things unfinished since I've been so commited at this point. I'd just feel awful if I leave this unfinished so ideas will be appreciated!

Solar cleans and Moon cries

Chapter Text

The living room was bare, the flooring cleaned and wiped of any evidence and somehow the couch was gone. He had no idea how he got the busted thing out on his own. Though now he needed a new shirt, it felt uneasy having splotches of oil on his shirt. Solar discarded the fabric from his form and used it to clean up the last of the splatter. Most DCA models didn’t wear a t-shirt anyways.

Solar let out a sigh as he left the house, unease in his figure when he entered the portal.

He took a glance towards the daycare doors that were now in view and passed them, Moon currently had Lunar and Earth to help him, he was going to start working in Parts and Service. After All it’s the least he could do after they provided so much for him. If he couldn’t get his Sun back he surely would get this one. He knew how far Moon’s would go for a Sun. It wasn’t pretty.

Parts and service was in moderate condition, specks of oil here and there. A Sun model laid across the floor as Parts and service and Sun laid across the table.

He turned his head back towards the Sun model on the floor with confusion. There was a Moon there before. Solar hummed and dragged the sunny model into the containment chamber. He sat them on the table slowly, careful with the rays that circled their head. He sat confused for a moment and closed the door to the chamber. He and Moon could deal with that together later.

Next, he took a glance at the computer next to the protective cylinder. An oddly recognizable face had been set on the screen it paused on. Moon was on the screen. Solar hesitated for a moment before setting the memory back a minute or two. Now it faced some barrels. Solar let the memory play.

-

Sun had been humming to himself happily, placing the last barrel on the stack he had made. Talking to himself softly about what to do next. Then he turned towards Moon, who was lost in thought as he typed wildly on the computer. Solar stood next to Moon, zoned into his work and ignoring the presence of anyone around him. Sun mumbled something about offering help and skipped his way over to Moon. “H-hey Moon? You don’t really seem that good..I know you’ve been working a lot and m-maybe I can help someway? Just take a bit of the load since you and Solar seem to be digging yourself in the ground at this rate..” He offered, Moon tore his gaze away from his work for a moment and spoke.

“No, it's fine Sun. Just go home and feed the cats or something.” He snapped. Sun hummed and place a hand on the desk.

He placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder. “I just don’t want you to-“ His hand was shaken off in an instant and Moon turned towards him, an angry glare to his expression. “God Sun can you just go away! I don’t need your help! Me and Solar got this!” Sun flinched away at the action and took a step back. A blur across the bottom of his eyes as he rapidly blinked.

The ended recording and Solar stared at himself in the back. He continued on with the video, watching as Sun had wandered into the portal after. Landing him in some twisted deal with another Sun. Solar watched with horror as he checked the date of the video.

It had been closer to two months since that recording. Solar could only imagine how Moon took it. Knowing how long Sun had really been gone, getting caught by another Sun and playing a pawn thinking it was just an innocent break. It still didn’t lead them closer to what this Sun was after. It put his mind in a frazzle and his systems in a stir as he looked at Sun on the table.

Though none of it explained why this other ‘Sun’ was in the containment chamber, he was sure they picked up his Moon counterpart when they turned him off.

Solar sighed and turned on the protective cylinder, grabbing out the box for spare DCA parts. They may not have everything, but it would help to get started. Solar thought with a hum as he placed the parts on a table like a person ready-ing a puzzle.

It was time to get back to work, and soon they could have Sun back..once the rest of the parts they needed shipped.

Moon felt sick as he entered the daycare, Lunar and Earth looking at him worriedly as Earth sat him on the ground. He nearly threw up his oil reserves trying to keep them together. “I’m awful..” he whined, a trickle of tears falling down his face, Lunar ran to get some tissues and dab at the tears. The small bot wrapped arms around his eldest brother and Moon wept.

Earth cooed softly “It’s okay, there’s nothing you could have done to prevent this Moon..It’s alright.” She whispered. Moon shook her off and the bell on his cap jingled as he did so. Earth held him in a firm embrace.

“No! If I hadn’t said that to Sun he would’ve never left! That stupid deal- it wouldn’t have happened!” He cried, Earth softly shushed him and Lunar stood worriedly. A worried look on the two youngest as Moon sobbed. An air of tension over the daycare. “I-I yelled at him and h-he left and that’s-stupid other Sun! T-told him he c-could take a v-vacation and d-didn’t tell h-him about t-the time change! It’s been g-gone for nearly 2 months! B-because I told h-him we didn’t need him-!” He choked out, Earth rocked them all back and forth. Moon’s eyes flashed red for a moment and grew dark. Earth looked worriedly at her brother.

“Moon..?” She asked, but she got no response from the still nap-time attendant. She stood with Moon in her arms and walked over to the security desk. She plugged him into his charging cord for a moment with a sigh and looked at Lunar.

She would probably need to cancel some sessions when Sun got back. They had a lot to work on.
