Kirby Almost Fucks Up

Summary:

Kirby’s hanging out at Dustin’s. While the boy’s occupied getting snacks for the two of them, Kirby meets Tews. She looks similar to powerful beings he’s met before, so he gets curious.

He’ll spit her out just as soon as he sees what Copy Ability she gives…

Notes:

Well, I kinda can’t believe this shitpost of all things is my twentieth work on this site (or ever), but it’s still cool!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Kirby sat on the carpeted floor, the cute cat staring at him curiously. Kirby had decided to hang out with Dustin today, and had met his cat, Tews. Apparently, her predecessor, Mews, had been eaten by Dart. Kirby had never seen a cat before; but they were apparently among the cutest creatures this world had to offer, and their faces, much to Kirby’s curiosity, resembled Magolor’s and NOVA’S; which made him curious…

She’d come right back once he dropped the potential new ability.

Kirby stared into her eyes. She stared back from where she sat after having sniffed him, giving an adorable “mrow.” Kirby gave her an apologetic look, opened his mouth, and quickly Inhaled her, before swallowing.

Nothing.

Kirby’s eyes widened at both that and Dustin suddenly re-entering the room with some snacks. Oh crap… “Hey, Kirby! I got the—hey, where’s Tews?”

“Hey Dustin? Can you turn around for a second?” Kirby asked as calmly as he could manage, internally panicking. And he could sense something (or rather, someone) else internally panicking, as well, in more ways than one. Nonetheless, the boy looked bemused, but obliged with a quirked brow. At that moment, Kirby produced the bubble containing Tews from his Copy Palette and quickly popped it, releasing the cat. She immediately ran over to Dustin, tail bushy, pupils dilated, and back arched. Dustin turned back around as she hissed at Kirby. “Woah, Tews! There you are! What’s wrong, little lady?”

Kirby barely held back a sigh of relief as he gave Tews an apologetic smile and a telepathic apology. Able to sense her meaning even if she couldn’t directly communicate back, he got the message that she no longer wanted anything to do with him, and the following warning to “stay the hell away” from her.

Well, it could have been worse. She could have gone to his other pocket dimension that nothing came back from if he hadn’t been extra-careful to send her to his Copy Palette. That would have been a nightmare.

That was a close one, He thought as Dustin continued to try to comfort Tews.

Notes:

So, I haven’t finished Far-Flung Hero of the Stars yet but this is set after that. I kinda wrote this on a whim, so—I hope you enjoyed! This was the first of countless one-shots to be written for the Heroes Across the Stars series, so, uh… happy beginnings?
