Sometimes an apology is enough (but make it a good one)

Summary:

Bakugou apologies…only Izuku is so Damm tired.

Small addition but why didn’t Afo have all the escapees look for Izuku? Here he does.

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

After the war against Tomura Shigaraki and the rest of the Paranormal liberation front, nothing was the same again.

 

Shigaraki has All for One. All for One is freed from Tartarus alongside other villains. Heroes are quitting left and right, others like Eraserhead and Vlad King got injured badly,

 

Others like Gran Torino died.

 

So now, as the ninth user of Ofa, it was Izuku’s job to fix it. The plan was to play bait so Endeavor, Hawks and Best Jeanist could capture Shigaraki and All For One when they striked. Only the villains didn’t go for him themselves. Instead, all the Tartarus escapees were given the job to look for him.

 

Most like Muscular didn’t cause that much trouble (still, the carnal murderer had already injured and killed too many before Izuku could get to defeating him), while a couple did pose a challenge.

 

Lady Nagant was a living rifle with eyesight rivaling Mei and marksmanship surpassing Snipe’s. And her story about the corruption of hero society didn’t make her a more pleasant opponent. But eventually, the greenette managed to talk her down.

 

Then she blew up. 

 

And it was his fault.

 

After that, Izuku left the other heroes behind, going at it solo with All Might until the former hero too was left in the dust.

 

Then Dictator happened.

 

Compared to Nagant, he was less powerful but was far smarter. Adding to his strategy of using human shields, plus using the other villains to tire his target out, the hunchbacked sociopath almost claimed his prize.

 

Only for an explosion to knock him out. Soon Bakugou and the rest of 1A surrounded Izuku.

 

Was his girlfriend Ochaco going to kiss him?

Were his best friends Tenya and Shoto going to hug him?

Were his other classmates going to do something?

 

They wanted to, but Bakugou told them he had to make something right with Izuku.

 

So they waited (reluctantly), playing support (again reluctantly) in Bakugou’s plan to catch up to Izuku. In the end, it worked as Tenya managed to grab ahold of the greenette.

 

Now it was the time to make this right.

 

“My whole life, I looked down on you. But somehow, it always felt like you were ahead of me. I hated that. So I bullied you. I had to reject you so I could feel superior. We both got into UA. Every day, I was forced to see how strong you were and how weak I was. Saying this out loud doesn’t change anything but that's how I feel, Izuku. I’m sorry for everything.” Bakugou said, bowing his head as he apologized to Izuku.

 

But Izuku wasn’t having it.



“….My…I…me.” Instead of crying  and either immediately forgiving him or telling him he didn’t need to apologize, Izuku muttered these words. “Your whole shitty apology is what you want, what you think.” Izuku sobbed as Ochaco almost stormed towards him, only to be held back by Tenya. 

 

“Let him get it out of his system.” The class rep stated as Ochaco stood down.

 

 “Sorry for everything. TELL THEM WHAT EVERYTHING IS!” Izuku went on with tears in his eyes. “You gathered the class to apologize, to make it look like you improved. BUT TELL THEM! *sob* Tell them every awful thing you did to me for ten years. *sob* Because everything can be a lot. It can be a push or broken bone, a nickname or a degrading name. A LITTLE JOKE OR A SUICIDE BAIT!”

 

“…I’m going to kill him.” Shoto growled as Ochaco nodded, only for both to be held back by Tenya again.

 

“I didn’t get these guys to make me look better. We’re trying to get you to stop with this bullshit.”

 

“Bullshit?! Crust is dead because of me, X-less too, as is *sob* and Torino too. I’m just trying to keep you guys safe.”

 

“And we want you to be safe!” Ochaco cut in, only to get a glare from Tenya.

 

“Look Izuku, I’m sorry for all the stuff I did to you but we don’t have time for going into it all.”

 

“Fine. But I won’t be your Deku anymore. You want my forgiveness, come back with an apology that isn’t you making excuses for yourself but actually owing up to all your shit. Until then, don’t even come near me.” The greenette ordered with a fierce glare.

 

But before he could try to escape again, he was tackled to the ground by his girlfriend.

 

Tenya concluded that he got it out of his system.

 

“Please rest up, Izu. Heroes need rest too.” She whispered into his ear.

 

“…Smell…nice..” the greenette mumbled before for the first time in months, falling asleep. But as Ochaco held her sleeping boyfriend, the rest of the class turned to Bakugou.

 

“Bakubro, did you suicide bait Midoriya?” Eijiro asked hesitantly.

 

“….I did. I-BAM” before Bakugou could finish his sentence, Tenya punched him in the jaw.

 

“Let me make one thing clear, Bakugou. You may be a talented hero in training but if I see you try to talk to Izuku alone, text him or even come near him when he doesn’t want to, I’ll assure you. You will wish that taking that hit from Shigaraki for him would have killed you.” Tenya threatened before he and Shoto joined Ochaco. The rest of the class meanwhile began restraining Dictator until Endeavor showed up.

 

They should have been shocked (Eijiro really was), but they had spent a full school year with Bakugou. Somehow this didn’t seem so out of character.

“Um Uravity, is he alright.” Thirteen asked once 1A returned to UA with Ochaco bridal carrying a sleeping Izuku. Bakugou meanwhile scowled in the back of the group.

 

“Oh yeah, he’s just taking a wittle nap.” The brunette said sweetly, giving Izuku a kiss on the forehead, waking him up in the process. “Hey Deku, we’re back at UA.”

 

“….No…must protect…get Shigaraki and..AFO…”

 

“Don’t be silly, Izuku. You must rest so we can divide and conquer the villains.” Tenya pointed out, matter of factly.

 

“He’s getting there.” Momo laughed awkwardly.

 

“Well we’re all really proud that all went back to retrieve Midoriya.” Anan said with a proud smile. 

 

“Don’t get ahead of yourself, miss Thirteen. One of us was less helpful than he or we hoped he was.” Shoto pointed out snarly.

 

“I came up with the plan, Icyhot. I’m the reason he calmed down.”

 

“You tired him out by causing him more emotional stress than any other villains could, ribbit.” Tsuyu pointed out with a glare. But before she could continue, an outrage was heard from behind the gate.

 

“*sigh* The refugees are not thrilled about, well anything. We give them shelter, one or two claim we rip them from their homes. We protect them day and night, those few yell at us for not doing it right.”

 

“Only a few? That doesn’t sound like a handful of angry civilians.” Shoji pointed out.

 

“True but those few continue to spread discomfort throughout UA.”

 

“Then just throw those fuckers out.”

 

“It’s not that simple, Bakugou. We can’t decide who to protect and who not.” Thirteen pointed out as the civilians got more rowdy. Even Best Jeanist, the only top three hero without a controversy, couldn’t calm them down. 

 

One civilian, a twenty or so old man, even took it further, twisting every word Nezu and Jeanist said to fit his story.

 

“So we’re stuck in this trap because you guys can’t do your jobs. This is a lawless hell and it’s you heroes’ faults. And now you want to let that thing inside so the villains can kill us all? What’s this crap!” He yelled as the rest of the crowd went with it until Izuku’s danger sense began to go off.

 

But before he could completely lose his mind, someone jumped onto UA high with a microphone Momo made.

 

It was Ochaco.

 

“Izuku Midoriya has a special power.”

 

“So? Why do we have to die when he wants to take a nap?!” The civilian yelled as Ochaco was considering throwing the mic at him. But that was only going to make things worse.

 

“You’re wrong! He left UA to get the villains away from you. We’re the ones who brought him back!”

 

“Do you want us to get covered in dirt?!”

 

“Only the heroes will be covered in dirt! They’re the ones to wash away the stains! He has put himself in harm's way and now look at him! He can barely stand!” Ochaco screamed while Izuku, being held up by Tenya and Shoto, watched her with widened eyes. “I wish we could tell you all that it will magically be alright but we can’t, and I’m real sorry for that. But right now, we need your help. Even if he has a special power doesn’t mean he’s a special person! So please give him a chance to rest up for his next fight! Izuku Midoriya is a great hero but he’s still a kid! So please, let UA be his hero academy!”

 

After that, the next couple minutes were hazy for Ochaco.

 

A big woman stood up from Jzuku, who cried on the floor as Inko ran towards him, together with the giant woman and Kota as the rest of the civilians began giving 1A their umbrellas.

 

Ochaco meanwhile jumped down towards her parents. 

 

“Woah kiddo, that was..woah.” Her father laughed as his wife pulled Ochaco into a hug.

 

“We’re so proud of you, sweetie.” Miss Uraraka told her with a soothing voice.

 

“*sniff* Thanks momma, daddy.” Ochaco murmured into her mom. “Can I?”

 

“Go to Midoriya and your friends? Of course.” Ura-mama laughed, giving her daughter a kiss on the forehead before the girl ran towards her classmates.

 

“Our little girl has grown up into a fine heroine.” Mister Uraraka said proudly as he pulled his wife closer.

 

“She sure has, darling. She sure has.”

“Sero, grab the soap!”

 

“Yes, Iida!”

 

“Good, Ojiro, Sato and Mineta put Izuku in the bath!”

 

“Guys, I can get in myself-SPLASH!”

 

“Not going to happen, Mibroriya! Just relax and let us clean you!”

 

“K-Kirishima, perhaps he would rather do that himself.”  Koji stuttered.

 

“Or have Uraraka do it.”

 

“Very funny, Mineta. But Ochaco is already aslee-I texted her. She’s on her way.” Shoto cut Tenya off as Ochaco kicked open the door.

 

“Cover your eyes, gentlemen and pest.” Ochaco ordered, scowling at Bakugou as the other guys covered their eyes.

 

Even Mineta and Kaminari. Because making comments is one thing but you do not ogle your friend’s girlfriend. The girl meanwhile stripped down before jumping into the bath.

 

“Make yourself comfortable, Izu. Imma scrub the mud off your back.” Ochaco told him softly, giving Izuku a little kiss on the forehead before starting cleaning his back.

 

“…Thank you, Ocha…all of you…*sniff* I’m gonna cry, guys.” Izuku whispered before wiping away a tear.

 

“It’s alright, Izu. Let it out of your syste-SPLASH!”

 

Bakugou just had to ruin the moment by jumping into the bath.

 

“Bakugou, you haven’t forgotten Iida’s threat right?” Denki asked, reminding the blond of Tenya punching him in the face.

 

“I don’t care. Even if I apologize, nothing changes. I’m still becoming number one. So you extras still are my rivals, and I’m especially talking about you, Dek..Izuku.” Bakugou growled before splashing water into the happy couple’s faces. Maybe Izuku would forgive him if he acted like how he was when the greenette still admired him.

 

But instead of that, he was met by Ochaco’s face.

 

“IZUKU AND OCHACO, GET OUT OF THE BATH NOW!” As the guys quickly jumped out of the water, Tenya pulled the lovely couple out of the bath.

 

Bakugou meanwhile swam in a puddle of his own pee, having wet himself out of fear.

 

Once again, Izuku paid him no mind, too occupied with Tenya apologizing for his rough response and seeing the top Ochaco’s left breast.

“You’re next, Izuku Midoriya.” All For One said with a mad grin before a sprite-like Tomura flew towards the Ofa user. As soon as he went through him, the surrounding area went from a vast, empty room to a fiery hellscape with silhouettes looking at him.

 

A burly, ginormous drooling villain, a skeleton and non-solid humanoide thing, all with red eyes, were the clearest but many more villains were standing behind those three.

 

At that moment, Izuku was awoken from his nightmare, finding himself in his bed with Ochaco at his side. 

 

She was blissfully asleep, clinging to him with those cute mittens she wore to stop her quirk. 

 

“You must have been tired.” 

 

“…Don’t go…Izu…”

 

As he heard her say this, Izuku’s heart broke a bit. Yes he left because he wanted to protect her and everyone else but in the end, he still kind of hurt them.

 

“Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. Not anymore.” He told her reassuringly before kissing her on the forehead, causing her to smile in her sleep.

 

That was the last peaceful night they would have for a while.

Notes:

Something I really don’t like but know is needed: the civilians are too mean to the point I actually think the main one (you know which one) is evil. And he’s not done any favors by most of his images consisting of him having Bakugou like expressions or even demonic ones.

Tenya saw half a breast and immediately apologizes.

Bakugou apologized and then immediately told Izuku nothing changed between them..I can’t be the only one seeing the issue.

Izuocha..that’s it.

So kind of like the Endeavor agency arc redone, I want to do something similar with other arcs instead of just 1B one shots like I planned. Mostly because A: I want more 1B, not for them to overshadow 1A. And B: There are still some things I want to improve (less Bakugou being sucked off, the classes/villains bonding, generally stuff that I changed and later on had consequences). So I’ll probably do this to,
-Training camp arc/bit of the Kamino arc (this is my favorite but this arc might have the most Bakugou biases)
-Overhaul arc (mostly for 1B)
-Meta liberation army arc (probably changes the most from the anime)
-The two wars (the second one might be more my own ideas because it hasn’t ended yet)

The poll is both for this series and another story. It’s simple, all 20 1B students, which ones do you like. For this series it for which ones might get a moment (I already decided the major 1B students), while for the other story, it’s about which of these buggers I can fuck up emotionally.

Notes:

So a spoiler for the first war one. I like Gran Torino and him surviving isn’t something that really bothers me but thematically, the story would have been stronger if he died. It’s what I call the ‘Amos Slade’ dilemma. Amos is one of my favorite Disney villains but he would have been a stronger villain if Chief died. I still love him (seriously, watch the scene of him putting down his gun. Without words, you can see every emotion and thought he’s going through.) but the motivation could have been stronger. Another reason why Torino should have died was to cause more conflict in Izuku’s plan. He wanted to save Tenko, heroic and all, but Tomura has killed thousands (and none of those, as far as we know, are people Izuku knows). But if Torino died, Izuku would have been on the other side of the spectrum. If he lost someone but still wanted to save Tenko, he would have been more of a true hero than he already was.

Depressing fact: when Izuku said “Bullshit?! Crust is dead because of me, X-less too, as is *sob* and Torino too.”, and he cut himself off with a sob, he wasn’t talking about Torino. Crust is dead, X-less too, as is RETRACTED and Torino too. Someone else died as well.

I’m actually leaving it open if Bakugou gathered 1A to make himself look better or not.

Why do I like Endeavor but hate Bakugou! Their apologies are actually perfect examples.
Bakugou: vague, mostly about him, in front of a crowd.
Endeavor: Alone with his family, for each of them an apology about what he did to them specifically.
