Chapter 1: *.・+★ PROLOGUE

Chapter Text

As a child, my days were filled with endless curiosity and boundless energy. Growing up in a small coastal town, I often found solace in the vastness of the ocean and the rhythmic sound of crashing waves. It was during one of my adventures along the shore that I first encountered Ushijima, a boy who would become an integral part of my life.

On that fateful day, I stumbled upon a hidden cove, tucked away from prying eyes. As I marveled at the beauty of the secluded spot, I noticed a figure standing near the water's edge, his gaze fixed upon the horizon. Ushijima, with his unruly dark hair and focused expression, appeared as if he were a part of the landscape itself.

Curiosity overtook me, and I approached him cautiously, careful not to startle him from his thoughts. As I drew nearer, he turned his attention toward me, his piercing blue eyes meeting mine. At that moment, I sensed a certain depth within him, a quiet intensity that fascinated me.

With an uncertain smile, I introduced myself as Y/N, and he reciprocated with a nod. Our encounter began with a few hesitant words, but soon, conversation flowed effortlessly between us. We discovered a shared love for the ocean, for the way it could simultaneously be both gentle and powerful.

Ushijima's passion for volleyball soon came to light, and he spoke of his dreams to become the best player in the world. His dedication and unwavering determination were admirable, even at such a young age. As we spent more time together, we nurtured each other's dreams and aspirations, pushing each other to reach new heights.

We explored the coastline together, collecting seashells, building sandcastles, and chasing seagulls that dared to steal our snacks. We laughed and challenged each other, our spirits intertwined like the waves that danced along the shore. With Ushijima's presence, every adventure became a grand quest, every moment etched with memories that would last a lifetime.

As the years passed, we faced the trials and tribulations of adolescence, our paths often diverging as we pursued our individual passions. Ushijima's commitment to volleyball took him to prestigious training camps and competitions, while I delved into my studies, nurturing my own dreams.

However, no matter the distance or time apart, we remained connected by an unbreakable bond. Ushijima's unwavering support and belief in me inspired me to tackle challenges head-on, just as he faced every spike with unwavering determination. We grew individually, but our shared experiences as children remained at the core of our friendship.

Looking back on that day we met as children, I realize that the universe had a hand in bringing us together. It gifted us with a friendship that weathered storms and celebrated triumphs, one that continues to shape who we are today. Ushijima, with his strength and conviction, will forever be the beacon that guides me, just as the ocean has guided us since our very first encounter.

High school—the beginning of a new chapter in life, where dreams and aspirations took firmer shape. As I stood on the precipice of this important milestone, my mind was filled with one singular goal: to attend the same high school as Ushijima, my childhood friend and source of unwavering inspiration.

With Ushijima's passion for volleyball, it was clear that attending Shiratorizawa Academy—the renowned powerhouse of volleyball excellence—was the natural choice for him. As for me, I was determined to find my own path within those hallowed halls.

The road to Shiratorizawa was not an easy one. It demanded relentless dedication and hard work. I threw myself into my studies, burning the midnight oil to ensure that my grades were impeccable. I devoured books, immersed myself in every subject, and sought guidance from my teachers, eager to expand my knowledge and intellectual horizons.

But Shiratorizawa's entrance exams were rigorous, and known to test the mettle of even the most determined applicants. Undeterred, I sought out additional resources and enrolled in preparatory classes, spending countless hours pouring over practice exams, dissecting complex problems, and honing my skills.

While academics formed a significant part of the admissions process, I knew that my personal growth and extracurricular achievements would play a vital role in setting me apart. I joined various clubs, engaging in activities that would not only showcase my skills but also demonstrate my commitment and leadership potential.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and finally, the day of the entrance exams arrived. I stood among a sea of aspiring students, each filled with their own dreams and aspirations. The pressure was palpable, but I held onto the unwavering belief that my hard work would pay off.As the days stretched into a seemingly endless wait, anticipation gnawed at my core. The letter of acceptance finally arrived, bearing the prestigious emblem of Shiratorizawa Academy.

I couldn't contain my joy and excitement, for it meant that my dream of attending the same high school as Ushijima was about to come true.

-

As the day of my arrival at the high school I had longed for drew near, my nerves churned within me like a tempestuous sea. The excitement and anticipation that had fueled my journey suddenly gave way to a nagging doubt, whispering insecurities and questioning my place among the accomplished students who would undoubtedly fill the halls of Shiratorizawa Academy.

With each step closer to the imposing entrance, my heart pounded in my chest, matching the rhythm of my anxious thoughts. Would I be able to keep up with the academic rigor? Would I find my place among the talented and driven individuals who had also earned a spot in this prestigious institution?

As I crossed the threshold, the grandeur of the campus enveloped me, overwhelming my senses. The pristine halls echoed with footsteps and hushed conversations, while the walls bore witness to the achievements and legacies of countless students who had walked these halls before me.

I navigated the labyrinth of corridors, my eyes darting around, searching for any sign of familiarity or comfort. The weight of expectations pressed upon me, as if the very walls themselves were aware of my dreams and the determination that had brought me here. Doubt gnawed at the edges of my mind, threatening to erode my confidence.

The bustling atmosphere further heightened my unease. Groups of students clustered together, their laughter and animated conversations seeming like impenetrable fortresses. Doubt began to seep into my thoughts, whispering that perhaps I didn't belong here, that my achievements were insufficient compared to the achievements of others.

As the first class approached, I found myself lingering outside the classroom door, my hand hesitating to turn the knob. The fear of the unknown tightened its grip on me, my mind swirling with questions about the expectations of the teachers, the caliber of my classmates, and the challenges that awaited me within those walls.

But as I stood there, my mind clouded with trepidation, a faint echo of encouragement reverberated through my thoughts. It was the memory of Ushijima's unwavering belief in me, and his steadfast support throughout our shared journey. I drew strength from that recollection, allowing it to chase away the doubts that threatened to consume me.

With a deep breath, I summoned the courage to enter the classroom. Eyes turned toward me, curiosity and scrutiny dancing in their gazes. The weight of their expectations settled upon my shoulders, but I straightened my posture, determined to prove myself worthy of the place I had fought so hard to secure.

As the days turned into weeks, I discovered that behind the intimidating façade of Shiratorizawa Academy lay a community of individuals who shared similar fears and aspirations. Each one of us was navigating uncharted territory, struggling with our own insecurities, and striving to make our mark.

I forged connections, finding solace in conversations with classmates who were grappling with their own doubts and fears. We encouraged and supported one another, building a network of understanding that would prove invaluable as we embarked on this transformative journey together.

Over time, the nervousness that had once consumed me began to dissipate. With each passing day, I gained a deeper appreciation for the resilience and determination that resided within me. I realized that my journey, though fraught with uncertainties, was a testament to my tenacity and unwavering commitment.

As I walked the corridors of Shiratorizawa, my strides grew more confident, and my gaze steadier. I knew that challenges lay ahead, but armed with the courage that had propelled me thus far, I was ready to face them head-on.

My nervousness had transformed into a potent blend of excitement and anticipation. I was ready to embrace the opportunities that awaited me, to carve out my own path within the tapestry of Shiratorizawa, and to prove to myself and others that I deserved to be here.

For within the depths of my soul, I knew that I had arrived at the high school of my dreams not solely by chance, but through the sheer force of my determination. And as I took my place among my peers, I was resolved to make the most of this extraordinary opportunity, to leave an indelible mark on the halls of Shiratorizawa Academy.

-

I reunited with the one I called my friend in the beginning and made some other companions along the way. Once my 3rd Year was near its start, that's when I was determined to show more and give it all, as well as my feelings for someone. I didn't expect my 3rd year to be a rollercoaster though. After all, it was anything for the future is unexpected.

Chapter Text

With the dawn breaking through the curtains, I rose from my bed, feeling a mix of anticipation and readiness for the day ahead. Today was no ordinary day, for it marked the beginning of a new school year at Shiratorizawa Academy.

I took a deep breath, letting the excitement fill my lungs, and began my morning routine, preparing for the journey that lay ahead.

Dressed in the crisp, neatly pressed uniform, I checked myself in the mirror one last time before grabbing my bag and heading out the door. The cool morning air greeted me, invigorating my senses as I stepped onto the familiar path that led to school.

As I made my way down the street, I caught sight of my friend, Hiroki, who I had met during our first year at Shiratorizawa. His warm smile welcomed me, and I quickened my pace to catch up with him.

"Hey, Y/N! Ready for our last year at Shiratorizawa?" Hiroki asked, his voice filled with genuine enthusiasm.

I nodded, matching his smile with my own. "Absolutely! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us. How about you?"

Hiroki adjusted the strap of his bag, his eyes shining with determination. "I'm excited too. There's so much to learn, so many new experiences waiting for us. And of course, the volleyball team tryouts are coming up soon!"

A surge of anticipation washed over me as I imagined the volleyball court and the challenges that awaited him. " Oh yeah! I hope you do make it because I could tell, I helped you train and you're really good Hiro! "

Hiroki chuckled, his footsteps falling in sync with mine. "I have no doubt about that, Y/N! Thank you for the support through it!"

We continued our walk, the familiar sights of the town passing by as we engaged in conversation, discussing our hopes, dreams, and the exciting possibilities that the new school year held. The sound of seagulls filled the air, reminding us of the beach where we had spent countless hours as children, our bond growing stronger with each wave that crashed against the shore.

As we approached the grand entrance of Shiratorizawa Academy, the towering gates beckoned us, a symbol of the opportunities and challenges that awaited us within. I paused for a moment, gazing up at the magnificent structure before us.

"It's hard to believe we're our last year here," I mused, a mix of nostalgia and excitement in my voice.

Hiroki nodded, his eyes sparkling with determination. "Indeed, time flies, doesn't it? But I have a feeling this year will be something truly special. We've come so far, Y/N, and we're ready to take on whatever comes our way."

I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for the journey that had brought us to this point. With Hiroki by my side, I knew that no challenge was insurmountable, no dream too grand. We had each other's backs, and together, we would face the trials and triumphs of another year at Shiratorizawa Academy.

As we stepped through the gates, ready to embrace the new school year, the energy of anticipation enveloped us. We walked side by side, our laughter and conversation filling the air, as we set forth on the path to our classrooms, but first, we needed to pick up someone at a certain spot.

-
I spotted our friend, Ayumi, waving us over from a corner booth.

Ayumi, with her bright smile and infectious energy, never failed to bring a sense of warmth to any gathering. We greeted each other with a hug and settled into the seats beside her, joining the lively ambiance of the lunchroom before school started.

"Y/N! Hiroki! I've missed you both!" Ayumi exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with genuine delight.

"We missed you too, Ayumi," I replied, returning her smile. "How was your summer?"

Ayumi leaned in, her excitement evident in her voice. "Oh, it was incredible! I attended a fashion design camp and got to showcase some outfits to models! It was such an inspiring experience."

Hiroki nodded, his eyes filled with admiration. "That sounds amazing, Ayumi. I can only imagine how much you've grown as a designer!"

Ayumi blushed modestly, twirling a strand of her hair. "Well, I've definitely learned a lot. But enough about me. What about you two? How was your summer? Any exciting adventures?"

I chuckled, recalling the countless hours spent studying and training. "Well, I dedicated most of my time to preparing for the upcoming tests I have in stored to pursue my dream. It was intense, but I feel ready for the challenge."

Hiroki chimed in, his eyes gleaming with determination. "I focused on improving my techniques and refining my skills. I've been working on my serve, trying to make it even more powerful."

Ayumi clapped her hands in excitement. "That's fantastic, both of you! I have no doubt that you'll excel during the tryouts and tests! You've both worked so hard."

She stopped after that, then glared over at me with a hint of disappointment and a playful but changed tone in her voice.

"Babe, I'm happy about the practicing of the tests or whatever, BUT you need to have something else to be passionate about! Didn't you say that you wanted to study medicine like your mom? ANDD I heard you had a passion for sports, and you wanted to follow along with something like that. DO SOMETHING THAT COULD HELP YOU WITH THAT! Tests during the summer isn't it sweetheart."

I placed my head down on the table, my words stumbling as I spoke.

"I know but I need to make sure I stay on top or I'll fail miserably! I have to be number one even if I have to wear myself out..!"

Ayumi placed her arm around me and rocked my body back and forth.

"I know love, but don't tire yourself too much! By the way, when are you gonna talk to Mr. Hottie about how you feel?"

As she said that, Ayumi Hiroki and I looked over at the entrance of the lunchroom, seeing the tall known figure walkthrough. It was none other than Ushijima. He walked in with some friends and sat at a random cleared-off table.

I looked over at Ayumi as my face turned different colors. I pushed her away and placed my pale hands over my recently darkened facial features.

"I can't do something like that! It'll ruin our friendship..."

Ayumi persisted and twirled her hair once again as she spoke about him.

"When I first saw him, I thought he was a masterpiece! I need him to be my model soon. But dear, get your chance when the time is right! It's our last year, and you don't know what would happen next!"

Hiroki jumped in, agreeing with the confident female.

"Right, we both know you've liked him for a minute, so take the chance when its present!"

I removed my hands and looked over at the table. He barely spoke to the people he sat with since they did all the talking, but surely he responds to things once asked. As I thought about what to do- I saw the male glance my way, creating direct eye contact.

Ayumi noticed and made a remark once again.

"Oh look, he definitely wants you, I mean who wouldn't!"

Hiroki and Ayumi laughed as I slouched on the table, not understanding anything at all.

-

As the final bell rang, signaling the start of school, Hiroki and Ayumi kindly offered to walk me to my first class. With our bags slung over our shoulders, we strolled down the hallway, the familiar sound of students rushing to their respective classrooms filling the air.

Just as we approached the door to my classroom, I spotted Ushijima standing nearby, seemingly lost in his own thoughts. A surge of anticipation mixed with a hint of nervousness coursed through me. I mustered the courage to approach him, hoping to strike up a conversation about the summer we had all spent apart.

"Hey, Ushijima!" I called out, a warm smile on my face. "How was your summer break? Did you have any exciting experiences?"

Ushijima turned towards me, his expression stoic and unreadable. With a curt nod, he replied, "It was fine. I trained and played volleyball."

His response was short and to the point, leaving me at a loss for further conversation. I glanced at Hiroki and Ayumi, hoping for some guidance, but they wore expressions of understanding as if they were familiar with Ushijima's reserved nature. Ayumi of course did try and signal me to talk more and be more confident.

Undeterred, I pressed on, determined to keep the conversation flowing. "That sounds great, Ushijima. Did you learn any new techniques or discover anything interesting during your training?"

Ushijima's response was once again minimal, his tone barely changing. "Yes, I focused on my spikes and practiced my serves."

I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. I had hoped for a more engaging conversation, to catch a glimpse of the Ushijima I had known as a childhood friend. But his responses remained concise, his attention seemingly elsewhere.

With a forced smile, I acknowledged his answers. "Well, it's good to hear that you're dedicated to improving your skills. Maybe we can practice together sometime?"

Ushijima's reply was as brief as before. "Maybe."
A sense of unease settled within me as the conversation reached a standstill. Ushijima bid me a simple "Bye" and walked away, leaving me feeling a bit stuck, unsure of how to proceed.

Hiroki and Ayumi exchanged glances at each other and then at me, making weird and unknowing faces. They offered me comforting words, assuring me that Ushijima's reserved nature was nothing personal, but rather a part of who he was. They reminded me of the times when Ushijima's actions spoke louder than words, of the friendship we had shared since childhood.

Though still slightly disappointed, I took a deep breath, pushing aside my lingering feelings of awkwardness. With Hiroki and Ayumi's support, I felt a renewed sense of determination.

As we bid each other farewell and I entered the classroom, I resolved to cherish the memories we had shared and the friendship we had forged. And even if Ushijima's responses were often brief and enigmatic, I knew that our connection would persist, rooted in the unspoken bonds of shared experiences and a shared dream.

With that thought in mind, I took my seat, ready to face the challenges of the class ahead. And as the lessons unfolded, I reminded myself that sometimes, the most profound connections are not forged through words alone but through the unspoken understanding that transcends them.

Chapter 3: *.・+★ 02 || Jealousy

Chapter Text

As I settled into my seat, determined to focus on the lesson at hand, the buzz of chatter from my classmates began to intrude upon my peace. Conversations overlapped, laughter echoed, and the occasional outburst disrupted the serenity of the classroom. I sighed, feeling a weariness settle over me as I tried to tune out the noise.

But just as my patience wore thin, a voice broke through the clamor, addressing me directly. I turned to find Eita Semi, a classmate known for his witty remarks and mischievous sense of humor, leaning toward me with a knowing smile.

"Hey there, Y/N," Eita greeted, his voice filled with playful empathy. "I can see you're struggling to find some peace in this cacophony. The struggle is real."

I couldn't help but chuckle at his choice of words. Eita had a knack for injecting humor into any situation, even the most mundane ones. Grateful for the momentary distraction, I responded with a smile, relieved to have someone who understood my plight.

"You have no idea, Eita. It's like trying to focus in the middle of a circus," I replied, gesturing toward the boisterous classroom.

Eita leaned back in his chair, pretending to shield himself from the imaginary flying objects. "I feel you, Y/N. It's a battle, no doubt. But fear not, for I have a secret weapon to combat this madness."

My curiosity piqued, I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Eita's claim. "Oh, do share, Eita. What's your secret weapon against this chaos?"

He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Earplugs, my friend. Trust me, they're a game-changer. Pop those babies in, and suddenly, the world becomes a symphony of tranquility."

I couldn't help but burst into laughter at his exaggerated enthusiasm. Eita had a way of injecting levity into any situation, no matter how mundane or exasperating. His lighthearted nature was infectious, and I found myself grateful for his presence amidst the chaos.

"Earplugs, huh? That's definitely an idea worth considering," I replied, a smile still lingering on my lips.

Eita winked, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "Remember, Y/N, sometimes we just need a little humor and a touch of creativity to make the unbearable bearable. And hey, if all else fails, we can always join in the noise and create our own symphony of chaos."

I couldn't help but chuckle at his audacious suggestion. Eita's ability to find humor in the most exasperating situations never ceased to amaze me.

As the class resumed and the noise continued to surround us, I found solace in Eita's presence and his unique perspective. We talked through the entire class period, laughing as we got our work done together.

-

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the class, I gathered my belongings and prepared to leave the classroom. Just as I stood up, Eita Semi approached me with a mischievous grin on his face.

"Hey, Y/N, how about coming to watch us practice a lunch game today? It'll be a fun way to unwind," Eita suggested, his eyes twinkling with excitement.

I paused for a moment, considering his invitation. The idea of watching a lunch game and seeing Eita and his teammates in action sounded like a refreshing break from the usual routine. Plus, it would be a chance to bring along a couple of my friends to share in the experience.

"Sounds like a great idea, Eita! I'll definitely come, and I'll bring a couple of friends with me too," I replied, my own smile mirroring his enthusiasm.

Eita's grin widened as he nodded. "That's awesome, Y/N! I can't wait to show off my skills. But hey, make sure to watch out for me. I'll be the one pulling off some unbelievable moves out there."

His words were undoubtedly cheesy, but they brought a genuine sense of amusement to my heart. Eita's playful confidence was infectious, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh, I'll be watching out for you, Eita. I expect nothing less than the most unbelievable moves," I teased, playfully rolling my eyes.

Eita playfully raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you'll see, Y/N. Prepare to be amazed."

We shared a lighthearted moment, reveling in the anticipation of the lunch game. It was refreshing to have a friend like Eita who could inject a bit of playful banter and humor into our interactions. His confidence and light-hearted nature made even the cheesiest remarks feel endearing.

As we parted ways, Eita heading off to his practice and me to gather my friends, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within me. Watching the lunch game promised to be an entertaining experience, and I knew that Eita's presence would add an extra layer of humor and charm to the event.

-

Picking up both of my friends at their class, I told them about the news and Ayumi responded quickly.

"You're gonna watch their lunch game!? Look at you! I need to take note of these."

Her personality and confidence really boosted mine, and that's why I love her as a friend. Meanwhile, Hiroki's eyes glistened from the thought of an exclusive lunch game.

"I get to see them in action! It'll help me with the tryouts!"

Everyone had their mind set on something, but I haven't had that opportunity yet.

"Babe, you get to see the man of your dreams play, and another that definitely wanted you there. Now look- you have two choices and guys to pick from! I need to find someone soon, I hate being lonely like this."

The female's face pouted, but Hiroki roughly crossed his arm over her shoulders, nudging at the poor female.

"You're not alone, what about me??!"

He pushed him aside, crossing her arms as she looked at the male.

"Nope!"

Everyone exchanged laughs, and it was just me now, needing to settle and set myself for a dream. It was sadly difficult to do, but sooner or later- the year would end, and I would need to figure out my life.

-

As my friends and I settled into the bleachers, eagerly awaiting the start of the lunch game, the players filed onto the field one by one. I couldn't help but notice their imposing physiques and the determination etched on their faces. It was evident that they were ready to give it their all.

Amidst the crowd of athletes, my eyes caught Eita Semi's familiar figure. He glanced in our direction and a smile formed on his lips as he made his way over to us, leaving his teammates behind. I couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement at his approach.

"Hey there, Y/N," Eita greeted, his voice filled with warmth. "Glad you made it. And you brought your friends too!"

I nodded, a smile gracing my face. "Of course, Eita. We wouldn't miss it for the world. We're excited to see what you guys have in store."

Ayumi, always one to inject humor into any situation, chimed in with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh, Eita, you better show us your best moves out there. Y/N's been talking about you nonstop!"

I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks as Ayumi's teasing remark took me by surprise. Eita, too, seemed caught off guard, his composure faltering for a moment. He cleared his throat, attempting to regain his usual confidence.

"Ah, well, you know, just doing my best," Eita replied, a hint of nervousness creeping into his voice. He ran a hand through his hair, a subtle flush coloring his cheeks.

My friends exchanged amused glances, realizing the effect their playful banter had on Eita. While he maintained his composed demeanor, his expressions revealed a touch of flustered embarrassment.

Trying to ease the tension, I interjected with a light laugh. "Don't worry, Eita. We're just teasing. We know you'll be amazing out there."

Eita's nervousness seemed to dissipate, replaced by a grateful smile. "Thanks, Y/N. I'll do my best to impress."

Just as he bid us a quick farewell and headed back to the field, I noticed Ushijima's piercing gaze directed at our conversation. His intense eyes followed Eita's departure, and a hint of curiosity flickered within them.

Caught off guard by his unexpected presence, I quickly looked away, feeling a mixture of emotions swirling within me. The encounter with Eita had taken an unexpected turn, leaving me wondering about the dynamics between him, Ushijima, and myself.

As the practice game commenced, I found myself torn between watching the players' skillful movements and stealing glances in Ushijima's direction, trying to gauge his reaction. His eyes remained focused on the game, but there was a hint of something in his gaze that suggested he was attuned to our conversation.

At that moment, I couldn't help but wonder about the complexities of friendships and the unspoken connections that intertwined our lives. There were layers of unspoken emotions and uncharted territories waiting to be explored, and I couldn't deny the intrigue that swirled around the interactions between Eita, Ushijima, and me.

Lost in my thoughts, I watched as the players showcased their talents on the field, the energy of the game seeping into my veins.

Hirokis eyes never left the field, and he took notes on how they performed so he could learn from it. On the other hand, Ayumi nudged and teased me about Semi and Ushijima.

"Did you see how he acted?! It's like living one of those fantasy stories. You have to pick though. Ushijima, the stone-cold lover, or Semi the upbeat sensation!"

Looking back at the field, I saw Semi's serves and moves as well as him being hard on the setter that would take his place after graduation. I noticed his determination and competitive side. Thinking back on it, I cracked a smile before responding to Ayumi.

"I don't know if I'm capable of both. Yeah, I want my last year to be memorable, but I don't think I have a chance with either one."

Ayumi looked over at me, and her expression was like a frozen figure in the freezer for too long. After a couple of seconds, the females' expressions changed, feeling shocked after what I said.

"WHAAAT??!"

It was loud enough to the point it echoed throughout the gym room. Some of the players on the field noticed it and looked at us three, including Ushijima and Semi. I exclaimed with a chuckle as I looked over at Ayumi and somewhat "tackled" her.

"Why are you so loud?! You made basically everyone stare at us!"

Ayumi tried to budge but it was useless. There was a point where she was able to say a sentence or two.

"Why are you doubting yourself? You are capable of both or even more! Shit, I wish I could be in your position!"

After a minute or two, she calmed down and slouched in her seat, relaxing after all of those movements. I responded a little later after her words, considering it but mixing my feelings into it.

"Yeah it's a life-changing thing, but what if it's not like that? You have to think about all of the ways and possibilities."

Her female friend allowed that to soak in and accepted it. Throughout the rest of the lunch period, we all watched them play and show their moves and skills. It was different, but this made my passion for sports more fueled.

-

As the lunch game came to an end and my friends began to disperse, I found myself momentarily alone in the bleachers. It was then that I noticed Ushijima making his way towards me, his presence both unexpected and intriguing.

"Hey, Y/N," Ushijima greeted, his voice steady and his gaze unwavering. "I noticed you were talking to Semi earlier. What's your relationship with him?"

Caught off guard by his directness, I took a moment to gather my thoughts. Ushijima was known for his straightforward nature, and it seemed he had taken notice of the exchange between Eita and me.
"We're classmates and friends," I replied honestly, keeping my response vague yet sincere. "We've known each other for a while, and he invited me to watch the lunch game today. Its been a while since we had a good conversation. Last time was our first year- we've been distant for our 2nd year but this is a change!"

Ushijima's gaze remained fixed on me, a subtle intensity in his eyes. He seemed determined to delve deeper into the nature of my connection with Eita, his curiosity unabated.

"But is there something more between you two?" he pressed, his tone softer yet unwavering.

I could sense his genuine interest and the desire to understand the dynamics at play. Although surprised by Ushijima's persistent questioning, I appreciated his directness and decided to offer a bit more insight.

"No, there isn't anything more," I responded, my voice steady. "Eita is a good friend, and we enjoy each other's company. We have a playful dynamic, but it's purely platonic."

Ushijima's expression remained impassive, though I detected a flicker of something in his eyes—perhaps relief or curiosity. It was difficult to decipher the thoughts that ran through his mind, but I sensed a deeper level of interest in his probing.

Taking a deep breath, Ushijima broke the silence. "I see. Thank you for clarifying, Y/N."

With a simple nod, he turned to leave, his steps deliberate and purposeful. As he walked away, I couldn't help but ponder the significance of our conversation. Ushijima's interest in the dynamics between Eita and me hinted at a curiosity that surpassed mere casual observation.

At that moment, I realized that the connections we formed in high school were not only confined to our individual friendships but also intertwined with the bonds we shared as a larger group.

At that moment, I realized that the connections we formed in high school were not only confined to our individual friendships but also intertwined with the bonds we shared as a larger group. The complexities of relationships, the unspoken undercurrents, and the silent connections between us all were threads that wove a tapestry of experiences.

As I continued to observe Ushijima from a distance, his stoic presence held an air of mystery. I couldn't help but wonder what lay beneath his composed exterior and what secrets his gaze hinted at. Little did I know that our paths would intertwine in unexpected ways, leading to discoveries that would reshape our perceptions and challenge the boundaries of friendship and possibility.

And so, as I left the bleachers and made my way home, the conversation with Ushijima lingered in my thoughts, serving as a reminder that even in the simplest of interactions, there was always more than met the eye.

Chapter Text

As I arrived home, my mind continued to mull over the encounter with Ushijima at the lunch game. His curiosity and unexpected questions had left an impression, and I found myself contemplating the significance of his interest in my connection with Eita.

Seeking a distraction, I decided to freshen up and prepare myself for an evening of studying. The warm water cascading down my body provided a soothing respite, temporarily washing away the thoughts that had consumed me. Dressed in comfortable clothes, I settled down at my desk, ready to delve into my textbooks and focus on my studies.

Just as I opened my books, a notification on my phone broke my concentration. It was a text message from Ayumi, one of my closest friends. Intrigued, I opened the message to see what she had to say.

-----

Ayumi: Hey, Y/N! Just wanted to check-in. How did the lunch game end after me and Hiroki left? Did you have fun with Eita? ;)

I couldn't help but smile at Ayumi's playful tone. She always had a knack for injecting humor into any situation, and I knew she was genuinely interested in the events of the day.

: Hey, Ayumi! It was interesting, he did show those moves as he said!

Ayumi: Haha, I can imagine! Eita's never one to disappoint. By the way, have you added him on social media yet? You know, for research purposes? 😉

I chuckled at Ayumi's cheeky comment. She always had a way of lightening the mood and finding humor in the most unexpected places.

: Research purposes, huh? Well, I haven't added him yet, but I guess I can do some "research" later. 😜

Ayumi: That's the spirit, Y/N! Gotta keep up with all the latest updates, you know? But seriously, how's Eita as a person? Is he as charismatic and confident off the court as he is on it?

Her question made me pause for a moment, contemplating how best to describe Eita's personality.

: Eita is definitely charismatic and confident, but there's more to him than just his on-court persona. He's a genuine and down-to-earth person. He's a great friend, always there to lend an ear or make you laugh. Overall, he's just a really good guy.

Ayumi: Aw, that's nice to hear. It seems like you guys have a fun dynamic. Who knows? Maybe there's more to it than just friendship? 😉

I rolled my eyes playfully at Ayumi's teasing. She had a way of stirring up mischief with her words.

: Ayumi, I told you, it's just friendship. Besides, there's someone else who caught my attention today...

Ayumi: Ooh, spill the details, Y/N! Who's the lucky person that caught your eye?

My heart skipped a beat as I typed the next words, my mind returning to the enigmatic Ushijima.

: Ushijima. He's the one who seemed genuinely curious about my connection with Eita. There's something intriguing about him, Ayumi. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's more to him than meets the eye.

Ayumi: Oh, Ushijima, huh? He's a bit of an enigma, that one. But hey, maybe there's a reason he was so interested. Keep an eye on him, Y/N. Who knows what secrets he's hiding behind that stoic facade? PLUS you did have a crush on him for like 2 years, you can't get over that so quickly!

Her words echoed the thoughts that had been swirling in my mind. Ushijima's
piercing gaze, his intense curiosity—it all hinted at a deeper story waiting to be unveiled.

: Don't worry, Ayumi. I'll keep my eyes wide open. There's definitely more to discover about Ushijima and the connections we all share.

---

As I pressed send, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. The puzzle pieces were slowly falling into place, and with each passing moment, I grew more intrigued by the secrets that lay beneath the surface of our seemingly ordinary lives. Little did I know that the journey I was embarking on would unravel mysteries, forge new bonds, and challenge the very foundations of everything I thought I knew.

-

I jolted awake, my head lifting from the desk as I blinked rapidly, trying to clear the remnants of sleep from my tired eyes. The dim light of the room indicated that I had lost track of time while studying, and the disheveled state of my hair and the crumpled textbooks beneath me served as evidence of my unintended slumber.

Panicking, I quickly gathered my things and rushed to get ready, my movements hasty and uncoordinated. My attempts to tame my unruly hair with a brush only resulted in a tangled mess, and my outfit was hastily thrown together, slightly mismatched and wrinkled. There was no time for breakfast—I would have to grab something on the way.

With a burst of energy, I dashed out the door, making a beeline for the train station. As luck would have it, the train arrived just as I reached the platform, and I squeezed myself among the other commuters, praying for a smooth journey.

Arriving at school, I hurriedly made my way to the classroom, trying my best to maintain a composed appearance despite my disheveled state. However, my entrance didn't go as planned.
Just as the teacher was about to begin the lesson, my footsteps echoed through the silent room, drawing the attention of the entire class. The room erupted in laughter as I realized that I had unwittingly interrupted the teacher's introduction.

Flushing with embarrassment, I bowed deeply, offering a sincere apology. "I'm sorry for the interruption, sensei. Please continue."

As I scurried to my desk, attempting to regain my composure, I couldn't help but notice Eita Semi among those amused by my untimely entrance. His infectious laughter filled the room, and our eyes met for a brief moment, his mischievous grin widening.

Once the laughter had subsided, Eita leaned over to me, a playful glint in his eyes. "Late start today, huh, Y/N? What happened? Overslept or got lost in your studies?"

I let out a sheepish chuckle, grateful for Eita's lightheartedness. "A bit of both, actually. I studied until I fell asleep on my textbooks. Woke up in a panic and rushed here."

Eita's grin widened, and he leaned in closer, lowering his voice conspiratorially. "Ah, the legendary late-night cramming strikes again! Well, don't worry, Y/N. I won't tell anyone your secret. Just remember to set an alarm next time."

I couldn't help but laugh, appreciating Eita's humor and his ability to lighten the atmosphere. It was in moments like these that I was reminded of why our friendship had grown so quickly.

"Thanks, Eita," I replied, a genuine smile gracing my face. "I'll definitely be more mindful next time. But enough about me, how's your day been so far?"

And just like that, our conversation veered into playful banter and lighthearted exchanges. The morning's chaos began to fade into the background as Eita's jokes and contagious laughter lifted my spirits. It was moments like these, amidst the laughter and camaraderie, that made me grateful for the friendships I had formed and the unexpected connections that had enriched my high school experience.

-

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the class, Eita Semi turned to me with a grin. "Hey, Y/N, can I get your social media? I need to let you know something later."

I couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and excitement at his words. I wanted to know what he had to share right away, but Eita seemed adamant about keeping me in suspense.

"Come on, Eita," I pleaded, my eyes widening with anticipation. "Can't you tell me now? I'm dying of curiosity!"

Eita chuckled, his playful nature shining through. "No, no, Y/N. I promise it'll be worth the wait. Just trust me on this."

Relenting, I sighed dramatically and retrieved my phone, swiftly sharing my social media information with him. "Fine, you better not keep me waiting too long."

With a wink, Eita thanked me and we parted ways, his words lingering in the air. As I walked down the corridor, my attention was suddenly captured by a familiar figure approaching my classroom. It was Ushijima.

My heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, I debated whether to make a quick escape or face him head-on. The memories flooded back to me—how Ushijima had distanced himself during our second year, leaving our conversations and interactions behind. This encounter felt different, though, and I couldn't help but be drawn to it.

Summoning my courage, I took a deep breath and composed myself as Ushijima approached. His presence felt imposing, yet intriguing.

"Hey, Y/N," Ushijima greeted, his voice steady but carrying a hint of something I couldn't quite place. "How have you been?"

Surprised by his approach, I met his gaze, noticing a subtle change in his demeanor. Gone was the detached aura he had exuded during our second year. Instead, he seemed genuinely interested in engaging with me.

"My day has been eventful," I replied, trying to maintain a calm composure. "How about yours, Ushijima?"

Ushijima's response was direct, but there was a warmth in his words that hadn't been present before. "It's been going well. I've been training hard."

Curiosity was piqued, and I ventured further. "That's great to hear, Ushijima. Are you excited for the challenges ahead?"

Ushijima nodded, a flicker of determination in his eyes. "Definitely. It's my final year, after all."

Our conversation flowed more smoothly than I had anticipated, and I found myself captivated by Ushijima's presence. This was different from before—there was a connection, albeit subtle, forming between us.

As we bid each other farewell and went our separate ways, I couldn't help but reflect on the encounter. Ushijima had changed, grown, and allowed himself to engage in a conversation with me. It was a small step, but it signified a shift in our relationship—one that held the promise of new discoveries and the potential for a deeper connection to form.

As I continued on my path, my heart filled with a sense of anticipation. The dynamics between us were shifting, and I couldn't wait to unravel the mysteries that lay within Ushijima's enigmatic persona.

-

As we sat at the lunch table, enjoying our meals and engaging in lighthearted banter, a sudden chime broke the cheerful atmosphere. Ayumi, always quick to assume, reached for her bag, convinced that the notification had come from her phone. However, to our surprise, it was mine that had received the message.

My heart skipped a beat as I retrieved my phone, feeling a mix of curiosity and trepidation. Ayumi, unable to contain her excitement, practically bounced in her seat. "Come on, Y/N, open it! Don't keep us in suspense!"

Reluctantly, I tapped on the message, allowing Ayumi and Hiroki to read it out loud. Their voices carried a mischievous tone as they unveiled the contents of the text, causing a deep blush to spread across my cheeks.

"Hey, Y/N! Just wanted to say you looked adorable today, even in your slightly disheveled state. 😉 Don't worry, it only made you more endearing. See you tomorrow! - Eita"

The embarrassment that washed over me was undeniable, and I found myself desperately wishing for the ground to swallow me whole. Ayumi and Hiroki, on the other hand, couldn't contain their laughter, their joyous uproar echoing throughout the lunchroom.

"Y/N, adorable and endearing? Seems like someone's caught Eita's eye!" Ayumi teased, unable to stifle her amusement.

Hiroki joined in, his laughter joining Ayumi's. "I must say, Y/N, you have quite the effect on our friend. Who knew being slightly disheveled would work in your favor?"

Heat flooded my face as I attempted to hide my embarrassment behind a shy smile. "Oh, come on, guys. It's not that big of a deal. Eita's just being his usual playful self."

Ayumi and Hiroki exchanged knowing glances, their smiles mischievous. "Oh, Y/N, we know you better than that. We can see the blush on your face," Ayumi remarked with a sly grin.

I rolled my eyes playfully, but deep down, I couldn't deny the flutter of excitement that Eita's message had stirred within me. It was a reminder that amidst the daily routines and challenges of high school, unexpected connections and moments of sweetness could take us by surprise.

As the laughter subsided and our lunch continued, I couldn't help but appreciate the friendship I shared with Ayumi and Hiroki. Their lighthearted teasing and unwavering support were a constant source of joy and comfort. And with Eita's message lingering in the air, I knew that this newfound dynamic between us had the potential to shape our high school journey in the most unexpected and delightful ways. Even after all of that, my mind couldn't get off of Ushijima. Eita was "interested" in me, but I was interested in Wakatoshi. There was a big decision coming but I didn't know what to do. I just went on with the day- wondering if something different could come to change my path.

Chapter 5: *.・+★ 04 || Rainy Memories

Chapter Text

As the weekend rolled around, my mother handed me a list of errands she needed me to run. With a sigh and a nod, I agreed to take on the responsibility, understanding that it was part of being a helpful member of the household. Little did I know that this seemingly mundane task would turn into a delightful adventure, allowing me to explore the world beyond the confines of my everyday routine.

I woke up early, determined to make the most of the day ahead. Deciding to dress in a simple yet cute outfit, I chose a comfortable pair of jeans, a flowy blouse, and my favorite sneakers. With my hair neatly tied back and a touch of light makeup, I felt ready to tackle the errands that awaited me.

Armed with the list in hand, I set out on my mission. The first stop was the grocery store, where I carefully selected fresh fruits, vegetables, and other household essentials. As I navigated the aisles, I couldn't help but be enticed by the vibrant colors and enticing aromas that surrounded me. I picked up a bouquet of flowers, knowing it would bring a smile to my mother's face, and added it to my shopping cart.

Next, I ventured to the local bookstore, where I allowed myself a moment of indulgence. I perused the shelves, my fingertips gliding along the spines of various books, each one holding the promise of a new adventure or a different perspective. Unable to resist, I selected a novel that had been on my wishlist for months, knowing it would be the perfect companion for quiet evenings spent lost in its pages.

With the groceries and book in tow, I made my way to a boutique that caught my eye. It was a treasure trove of fashion and style, offering an array of trendy clothing and accessories. As I browsed through the racks, I couldn't help but be drawn to a beautifully patterned scarf that would add a touch of elegance to any outfit. It found its way into my shopping bag, along with a dainty necklace that caught my eye.

Feeling a sense of satisfaction with my purchases, I moved on to the next item on my list—a visit to the local hardware store. It might not have been the most glamorous stop, but it presented an opportunity to explore a different world—one of tools, home improvement, and creative DIY projects. I spent time carefully selecting the supplies my mother needed, immersing myself in the possibilities of what we could accomplish together.

As the day progressed, I found myself in a small artisan market, bustling with vibrant energy and creativity. Stalls adorned with handmade crafts, artwork, and unique trinkets captured my attention, urging me to explore their offerings. I couldn't resist the charm of a handcrafted ceramic mug, envisioning the joy it would bring during cozy mornings spent sipping warm tea or coffee.

My last stop led me to a trendy beauty store. While not an essential errand, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement at the prospect of exploring new skincare products and makeup. As I perused the aisles, testing samples and reading product descriptions, I found myself selecting a few items that caught my eye—a nourishing face mask, a vibrant lip color, and a delicately scented body lotion.

With the errands completed and a satisfied smile on my face, I made my way back home, walking down the street from the store I was last at. I was happy to go out and do things for my mom for she was the one that did things for me. Smiled with sastification, I couldn't away to go home and show her what I got.

-

As I made my way home, enjoying the quiet after a fulfilling day of running errands, I felt a few droplets of rain falling on my skin. Looking up at the darkening sky, I realized I had forgotten to bring an umbrella. Concerned about getting caught in a downpour, I quickened my pace, hoping to reach the shelter of my home before the rain intensified.

However, my anxiety increased as I noticed two figures approaching me from the corner of my eye. Their laughter and loud voices caught my attention, and my heart sank when I realized they were heading directly towards me. They were older than me, and their inappropriate remarks and catcalls made me feel uncomfortable and vulnerable.

"Hey there, sweetheart! Looking gorgeous in that outfit," one of them called out with a leering grin, his tone dripping with insincerity.

"Yeah, beautiful! Where are you off to in such a hurry? Stay and chat with us," the other chimed in, his eyes scanning me from head to toe.

Feeling a knot of fear tighten in my stomach, I attempted to ignore their advances and continue on my way. But they persisted, stepping closer and blocking my path.

"Come on, don't be so cold! We just want to talk," one of them insisted, his voice taking on a more aggressive tone.

I glanced around, realizing that the street was nearly deserted, and a sense of unease settled over me. I had no intention of engaging in conversation with these strangers, but their presence and the way they were encroaching on my personal space made me feel trapped.

Summoning my courage, I spoke firmly, my voice laced with unease. "I'm sorry, but I really need to get home. Please, let me pass."

Instead of respecting my request, one of them sneered and took a step closer, effectively blocking my path. "Come on, sweetheart, don't be shy. We just want to have some fun."

My heart raced, and I could feel a cold sweat forming on my brow. I desperately scanned the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of someone, anyone, who could offer assistance. But the streets remained eerily empty, heightening my sense of vulnerability.

Summoning whatever strength I had left, I took a step back, my voice trembling with fear. "I'm not interested. Please, just let me go."

Just as panic threatened to overtake me, a voice broke through the tension, cutting through the silence of the empty street. "Is there a problem here?"

I turned to see a tall figure approaching from the distance. It was Ushijima, the same boy who had caught my attention earlier in the day. His presence brought a sense of relief and a glimmer of hope. With his stoic expression and determined stride, he exuded an air of confidence that made the two strangers falter.

One of the guys scoffed and tried to dismiss Ushijima. "Mind your own business, kid. We're just having a friendly chat with this girl."

Ushijima's gaze remained steady as he closed the distance between us, his voice firm and commanding. "I suggest you leave her alone and let her go on her way. Now."

There was an undeniable edge of authority in his voice that gave the two strangers pause. Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, they exchanged uneasy glances before finally backing away, muttering under their breaths as they retreated.

As the strangers finally retreated into the distance, leaving me feeling shaken yet grateful, the rain intensified, pouring down from the darkened sky. I stood there, alone on the empty street, my clothes quickly becoming drenched. The weight of the day's events, coupled with the cascade of raindrops, seemed to mirror the tumultuous emotions swirling inside me.

And then, I noticed him. Ushijima, standing a few feet away, his tall figure towering over me. Our eyes locked for a moment, and in that instant, I felt a strange connection, as if he understood the turmoil that had just unfolded. He held an umbrella in his hand, a shield against the relentless rain.

Without a word, Ushijima approached me. Our height difference became more pronounced as he stood before me, a stoic expression on his face. And then, he did something unexpected. He extended the umbrella toward me, placing it gently in the hand that was free from the burden of shopping bags.

"Here," he said simply, his voice carrying a hint of vulnerability that I hadn't noticed before.
I was taken aback by his gesture, his act of kindness in the midst of our brief encounter. The umbrella shielded me from the rain, providing a physical barrier against the elements, but it also served as a metaphorical shield against the uncertainties and discomfort I had experienced moments ago.

Before Ushijima could fully leave, his gaze fixed on the ground, I mustered the courage to call out to him. "Ushi... Thank you."

He paused, his back still turned to me, and for a moment, I thought he might respond. But then, without uttering a single word, he continued on his way, disappearing into the rain-soaked street.

I stood there, raindrops cascading down my face, feeling a mix of emotions surging within me. My cheeks flushed, and my heart raced from the encounter with Ushijima. There was something about him, an enigmatic aura that intrigued me and left me longing for more.

Time seemed to stand still as I stood there, umbrella in hand, contemplating the brief but profound connection we had shared. The rain provided a backdrop for the moment, amplifying the intensity of my feelings and the depth of the encounter.

Eventually, I gathered my belongings and continued my journey home, the umbrella serving as a constant reminder of the unexpected kindness bestowed upon me by Ushijima. Though he had left without a trace, his presence lingered within me, leaving an indelible mark on my heart.

As I walked through the rain-soaked streets, a newfound sense of wonder and curiosity sparked within me. What lay behind Ushijima's stoic exterior? What had led him to intervene on my behalf? These questions swirled in my mind, igniting a desire to unravel the mysteries that surrounded him.

I made it home safely, giving the collected items to my mom as I kept the ones I had for myself. I placed the groceries in the refrigerator and placed the other things in their designated spots.

Little did I know that this encounter I had, this exchange in the pouring rain, would be the catalyst for a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and perhaps even something more. With each step, the raindrops continued to fall, washing away the remnants of the day's challenges and paving the way for a new chapter in my life—one that would be shaped by the enigmatic presence of Ushijima and the unforeseen connections that awaited me.

A/N: THIS IS ABOUT HER AND USHIJIMA SO OF COURSE I NEEDED TO ADD SOMETHING BETWEEN THEM!

Chapter 6: *.・+★ 05 || Game Awaited

Chapter Text

As the morning sunlight filtered through my window, casting a warm glow across my room, I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and nervousness. It was the next day of school, a fresh start filled with possibilities. I stood before the mirror, carefully choosing my outfit and pampering myself with a touch of makeup, wanting to radiate confidence and positivity. Just as I finished getting ready, a familiar chime broke the silence. I reached for my phone, and there it was—a message from Semi. He asked if he could walk to school with me.

A wave of mixed emotions washed over me as I read his text. Part of me was eager for the distraction and the chance to spend time with him, to escape the lingering thoughts of the encounter with Ushijima. And yet, a small part of me couldn't help but wonder if Semi's presence would simply be a temporary diversion, or if it held the potential for something more.

I took a moment to compose my reply, a mixture of hesitation and anticipation dancing at my fingertips.

---

: Hey Semi! Sure, we can walk and take the train to school together. See you soon!

Semi: Great! Looking forward to it. I'll meet you at the train station.

: Sounds good. See you there!

---

I glanced at my phone, feeling a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. Walking and commuting to school with Semi would be a pleasant distraction from the events of the past few days.

As I finished getting ready, I couldn't help but wonder how our conversation would unfold, especially after the unexpected message he had sent me the other day. On the walk to the train station, my phone buzzed with another message from Semi.

Semi: Hey Y/N, by the way, have you checked out the new cafe that opened near our school? I heard they have some delicious pastries. Maybe we could grab something after class?

: Oh, really? I haven't been there yet, but it sounds tempting. Sure, I'd love to try it out. Count me in!

Semi: Awesome! It's a date then. See you at school!

A smile crept across my face as I read his response. It was a small gesture, but it made me feel special. Perhaps spending time with Semi would help me forget the unsettling encounter and focus on the present. As I arrived at the meeting spot, I spotted Semi waiting for me, a bright smile on his face.

"Hey, Y/N! Ready?"

"Absolutely! Let's make this day a great one."

We fell into step together, walking side by side as we made our way toward the train station. The conversation flowed effortlessly between us, a mix of lighthearted banter and genuine interest in each other's lives.

"So, did you have a good weekend? Do anything exciting?"

"Not too much just ran some errands and explored a few stores. What about you?"

"Ah, nothing too eventful either. Caught up on some homework, and played video games with friends. You know, the usual."

"Sounds relaxing. Sometimes, a quiet weekend is just what we need."

As we entered the train station, I could sense a comfortable friendship between us. Semi's presence and our easygoing conversations brought a sense of warmth and lightness to my day.

" You know, Y/N, I'm glad we started hanging out more. It's been really fun getting to know you better."

"I feel the same way, Semi. It's been a nice distraction from everything else going on."

Eita stopped and responded with something different than expected.

" Well, I hope I can be more than just a distraction. I genuinely enjoy spending time with you."

His words caught me off guard, but there was sincerity in his eyes that made my heart flutter.

"Thank you, Semi. I appreciate your friendship. It means a lot to me."

He reacted differently, but a smile was still there.

"Of course, Y/N. Friends support each other, right?"

"Absolutely!"

As the train arrived, we found seats next to each other, continuing our conversation along the journey. The distractions of our banter and shared laughter provided a much-needed respite from the thoughts that had been occupying my mind. Little did I know that this newfound friendship with Semi would become an anchor in my life, bringing joy and companionship in unexpected ways. And as we stepped off the train and headed towards school, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope, knowing that with him by my side, the days ahead would be brighter and filled with endless possibilities.

Part of me was eager for the distraction and the chance to spend time with him, to escape the lingering thoughts of the encounter with Ushijima. And yet, a small part of me couldn't help but wonder if Semi's presence would simply be a temporary diversion, or if it held the potential for something more.

-

Maybe its my turn,,,, Ushijima's POV.

-

I walked alongside Tendou as we strolled through the store, the bright lights and shelves of merchandise surrounding us. Tendou had a knack for finding his way into these places, dragging me along simply because he enjoyed my company. Despite his playful nature, I found solace in our friendship, appreciating the familiarity and comfort it provided.

"So, Ushijima, what's the deal with you and Y/N? You two seem to have some interesting chemistry going on."

I glanced at Tendou, his mischievous smile lighting up his face. The mention of Y/N caught me off guard, but I maintained my stoic composure.

"Y/N is a classmate. We occasionally interact during school hours."

Tendou chuckled, sensing my deliberate evasion. "Come on, Ushijima! You can't fool me with your vague responses. There's something more going on, isn't there? Did you finally find someone who catches your attention?"

I remained silent for a moment, contemplating my response. Tendou had a way of prodding and teasing, but I was not one to easily divulge my thoughts and feelings.

"Y/N is an interesting person. We had a brief conversation recently, but it is nothing more than that."

Tendou's eyes lit up mischievously as he continued his playful interrogation.

"Ah, so there is something there. Tell me, Ushijima, is this just a casual interest, or could there be something deeper?"

I felt a flicker of annoyance rise within me at Tendou's persistence. However, it was his mention of Semi that caused a subtle shift in my demeanor.

"Semi? What does he have to do with this?"

Tendou's playful demeanor faltered for a moment, sensing a change in my tone. He realized he had struck a chord, and his mischievous smile faded slightly.

"Well, rumor has it that Semi might be interested in Y/N. I thought it would be amusing to see how you would react to that."

I remained silent, my thoughts consumed by the mention of Y/N and the possibility of another person vying for their attention. It was a foreign feeling, one that made me confront emotions I had long kept at bay.

"It is irrelevant. Y/N's choices are their own. I have no control over that."

Tendou observed my response, his playful nature temporarily subdued.

"You've changed, Miracle-Boy. It's interesting to see you react in this way. Perhaps there's more to you than meets the eye."

I turned my gaze away, my expression returning to its familiar stoic state. Tendou's words lingered in the air, echoing in the recesses of my mind. Indeed, there was a shift within me, a realization that maybe my feelings held more significance than I had initially believed. As Tendou and I continued browsing through the store, the playful banter resumed, but a newfound introspection had taken hold of me. Thoughts of Y/N, Semi, and the complexities of human connection swirled within my mind. It was a journey of self-discovery that awaited me, one that I was slowly beginning to embrace, no longer bound by the confines of my stoic exterior.

-

Back to me!,,,Y/N's POV

-

As Ayumi and I entered the gymnasium, the sound of basketballs bouncing and sneakers squeaking filled the air. The energy was palpable, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. We scanned the crowd, searching for a spot to settle in and watch the practice game.

"Ayumi, let's sit over there, near the bleachers. We'll have a good view of the court."

Ayumi nodded, following my lead as we found a spot to sit. I couldn't help but notice my own restlessness, my eyes involuntarily scanning the gymnasium for a familiar face. I was more focused on finding Ushijima than Semi, which was a departure from my usual mindset.

"So, spill the beans, Y/N. What happened between you and Ushijima the other day? You've been acting differently ever since."

I let out a nervous chuckle, feeling a tinge of embarrassment at Ayumi's directness. But she was my friend, and sharing my thoughts and feelings with her felt natural.

" Well, you remember that day it rained and I didn't have an umbrella? Ushijima happened to be there and he gave me his umbrella. It was a simple act, but something about it felt different. I thanked him, and as he walked away, I called out to him, saying "Thank you, Ushi." It was a small moment, but it stirred something within me."

Ayumi's eyes widened with excitement as she leaned closer, her voice filled with playful teasing."Ooh, "Ushi," huh? That's adorable! I never thought I'd see the day when Ushijima would elicit such a reaction from you. You've got it bad, my friend!"

I blushed, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and excitement. Ayumi always had a way of making even the most embarrassing situations feel light-hearted and fun.

"Ayumi, it's not like that. I'm just... intrigued. Ushijima has always been so stoic and hard to read, but that day, there was something different. It's like he let his guard down for a moment, and I can't help but wonder what it means."

Ayumi nudged me playfully, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Well, I have a feeling you're about to find out. Look who just walked in."

I followed Ayumi's gaze, and there he was—Ushijima, making his way toward the court with his characteristic determination. Our eyes briefly locked, but his expression remained impassive. It was as if our encounter in the rain hadn't affected him at all.

"He's here. I wonder if he'll even acknowledge me.

"Don't worry, Y/N. Just be yourself and see what happens. Who knows? Maybe he's just as intrigued as you are."

As the practice game began, I couldn't help but steal glances at Ushijima. He moved with precision and intensity, his skill on full display. I admired his dedication, but a part of me longed for a deeper connection, a glimpse behind the facade.

Throughout the game, Ayumi and I cheered on the team, sharing laughs and excitement. Yet, my mind kept wandering back to Ushijima, his stoic presence and the lingering memory of that fleeting moment between us. I wondered if he was pondering the same questions, if he felt a similar curiosity.

As the final buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the practice game, Ushijima's gaze briefly met mine once more. This time, there was a flicker of something in his eyes—a glimmer of recognition or understanding. It was fleeting, but it left an indelible mark on my heart.

"Ayumi, let's go talk to Hiroki and congratulate him on the game. Maybe Ushijima will join us."

Ayumi grinned, her eyes filled with mischief.

"Sounds like a plan, Y/N. Let's see what the future holds for you and "Ushi."

We made our way towards Hiroki, our laughter filling the gymnasium. As I walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of hope, a newfound excitement for the unknown. The journey of discovering the depths of my connection with Ushijima had only just begun, and I was ready to embrace whatever came my way.

Chapter Text

After congratulating Hiroki on his impressive performance, Ayumi and I turned our attention to Ushijima, who stood a few feet away. He was engaged in a conversation with Tendou, their expressions serious yet animated. It seemed they were discussing the game and strategizing for future matches.

"Ayumi, do you think we should approach Ushijima and join the conversation?"

Ayumi glanced at Ushijima and Tendou before grinning mischievously. "Why not? Let's add some excitement to their discussion."

We made our way towards them, trying not to disrupt their conversation. As we approached, Ushijima's eyes briefly flickered toward me, and I couldn't help but feel a flutter of anticipation. Tendou, on the other hand, had a glint in his eyes as he noticed our arrival.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Y/N and Ayumi. What brings you lovely ladies over here?"

Ayumi, always quick with her words, jumped in with her trademark charm.

"Oh, you know us, Satori. We can't resist joining in on an interesting conversation. And with Ushijima here, it's bound to be intriguing."

Satori and Ayumi were best friends in grade school, but the conflict between them was always so interesting. They had serious disagreements over the little things which was funny.

Ushijima's gaze remained focused, his demeanor calm and composed as always. I took a deep breath, summoning my own confidence, and joined the conversation.

"Hey, guys! Great game today! You really nailed it out there. And Ushijima, your skills are as impressive as ever."

Ushijima nodded in acknowledgment, his voice measured and direct.

"Thank you. We put in a lot of practice to improve our performance. It's all about hard work and dedication."

Tendou, ever the playful one, couldn't resist adding his own witty remark. "Hard work and dedication, huh? Y/N, are you taking notes? Maybe Ushijima's secret to success will rub off on you."

I chuckled, appreciating Tendou's humor, as well as the slight blush that crept onto Ushijima's cheeks. It seemed my presence still had an effect on him, however subtle. Ayumi hit the red head on the other hand.

"Satori, just shut up."

Everyone exchanged a few laughs except Ushijima, for he didn't get anything quickly as much.

"Well, Tendou, I can always use some inspiration. Maybe Ushijima can give me a few pointers."

Ushijima's stoic expression softened slightly, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

"If you're serious about improving, I'm always willing to help. Dedication is the key, after all."

As our conversation continued, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and camaraderie. The dynamic between Ushijima, Tendou, Ayumi, and myself was unexpectedly harmonious. We laughed, shared stories, and even made plans to hang out outside of school.

As the conversation with the four of us unfolded, we were interrupted by the arrival of Akira Saito, the younger coach of the team. He seemed eager to share some important information, and his presence piqued our curiosity.

"Hey, everyone. Sorry to interrupt, but I have some news to share. Y/N, I heard from a reliable source that you're interested in pursuing a career in sports, is that correct?"

I felt a surge of surprise ripple through the air as the other teammates turned their attention towards me. I hadn't expected my aspirations to be known so widely, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation.

"Uh, yes, that's true. I've always had a passion for sports, and I'm considering it as a career path."

Coach Saito's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as he continued. "Well, that's great news! I think it's important for you to have hands-on experience and learn from watching the game up close. How about attending our next game as an honorary guest? You'll get a chance to observe the players and gain valuable insights."

The sudden proposition caught me off guard, and I glanced around at the surprised faces of everyone else. The other coach, who had been observing from a distance, seemed unimpressed by Coach Saito's suggestion. His disapproving gaze lingered on me briefly before he turned away, as if dismissing the idea altogether.

"Wow, Coach Saito, that's incredibly generous of you. I'd be honored to watch the game up close and learn from the players. Thank you for this opportunity."

Coach Saito smiled warmly, his enthusiasm infectious. "It's my pleasure, Y/N. We're always looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about the sport. This could be a great learning experience for you, and who knows, it might even shape your future decisions."

I nodded, a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside me. The unexpected turn of events opened up a new avenue for me to explore, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to witness the game firsthand.

As the conversation with Coach Saito came to an end, I exchanged glances with the others. Their expressions reflected a mix of surprise and curiosity. It was clear that this unexpected opportunity had left an impression on all of us.

"Well, it looks like I'm in for an exciting adventure. I can't wait to see the game and learn from the talented players on the team."

Ushijima's stoic demeanor softened slightly as he offered a supportive nod. "It's a good opportunity. Make the most of it, Y/N."

Ayumi, always the source of lightheartedness, couldn't resist adding her own playful remark."You'll be rubbing shoulders with the future stars of the sports world, Y/N. Don't forget us, little people, when you make it big! Remember, I can't grow old alone, so you'll need to find someone for me while you're doing this."

Tendou gave a glance to Ayumi, hitting a remark of his own. "Oh I don't think no one will accept your offer. Oh well!"

We all laughed, the tension of the moment dissipating, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie and anticipation for the journey that lay ahead. With Coach Saito's unexpected offer, my path had taken an exciting turn, and I was determined to embrace the opportunity and see where it led me.

-

As I made my way out of the gym, my mind still buzzing with excitement from Coach Saito's unexpected invitation, I heard a familiar voice calling out to me. It was Semi, jogging to catch up with me.

"Hey, Y/N! Wait up!"

I turned around, a smile forming on my lips as I saw Semi approaching. "Hey, Semi! What's up?"

"Not much, just finished up with the conversation from the aftermath. I saw you talking with Coach Saito earlier. What did he want?"

"Oh, he had something interesting to share. He found out about my interest in pursuing a career in sports, and he invited me to watch the next game up close. Can you believe it?"

Semi's eyes widened with surprise, and a grin spread across his face. "That's amazing, Y/N! It's a fantastic opportunity for you. I'm really happy for you."

"Thank you, Semi. It was unexpected, but I'm excited to see where it takes me. Who knows, maybe it'll provide some clarity about my future path."

"Definitely! Sometimes, unexpected opportunities can lead to incredible discoveries. I'm sure you'll make the most of it."

We continued to walk and talk, the conversation flowing effortlessly between us. It was comforting to have someone like Semi by my side, offering support and encouragement during this pivotal time in my life. As we shared our hopes, fears, and aspirations, it felt like our bond was growing stronger.

As we reached a point where our paths diverged, we came to a halt. I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness at the thought of parting ways.

"Well, I guess this is where we part ways. Thanks for walking with me, Semi. It was nice talking to you."

He stopped before departing, needing to say something off of his mind.

"Y/N, can I be honest with you about something?

I nodded, curiosity piqued. "Of course, Semi. You can always be honest with me.

Semi hesitated for a moment as if carefully choosing his words.

"Well, ever since we met, I've felt a special connection with you. You're talented, and determined, and your smile... it's like a ray of sunshine. I can't help but be drawn to you."

His confession caught me off guard, and I felt a mix of surprise and warmth spreading through me.

"I don't what to say Semi.."

"You don't have to say anything Y/N! I just wanted to tell you. It's been really heavy on my chest. I'll see you later, take care."

With a final wave, we went our separate ways, both carrying a renewed sense of determination and excitement for the future. The conversation with Semi lifted my spirits, reminding me that I had a strong support system and friends who believed in me. The unexpected confession led be to believe different things. I couldn't help but be flushed by it.

As I bid farewell to Semi and began walking on my own, lost in my thoughts and the lingering warmth of our conversation, I felt a presence behind me. A familiar presence that sent a shiver down my spine. I turned slowly, and there he was-Ushijima, standing tall and stoic, his gaze fixed upon me.

"Y/N."

His voice was as calm and commanding as ever, leaving me momentarily speechless. I hadn't expected him to be there, to have overheard my conversation with Semi. But there was no denying it now. He knew.

"Ushijima... How long have you been standing there?"

Ushijima's gaze held an intensity that made my heart race, yet his expression remained impassive.

"Long enough to hear what was said."

His straightforward response took me by surprise. I had grown accustomed to his brevity, but this time, his words held a weight that made my cheeks flush with a mix of embarrassment and anticipation.

"I... I didn't mean for you to hear that, Ushijima. It was a private conversation between Semi and me."

Ushijima's gaze softened ever so slightly, a hint of understanding in his eyes. "I apologize for eavesdropping. It was not my intention. But it seems... things have become more complicated."

His words hung in the air, the tension between us palpable. I felt a mixture of nervousness and curiosity, unsure of where this conversation would lead.

"What do you mean, Ushijima? What's complicated?"

Ushijima took a step closer, his presence almost overwhelming. I could feel my heartbeat quickening in response. "Do you believe in me, Y/N?"

His question caught me off guard, leaving me momentarily speechless. Ushijima rarely showed vulnerability, and his words held a hint of insecurity that I had never seen before.

"Of course, I believe in you. You're an exceptional athlete, and your dedication and determination are unmatched. I've always admired your skills on the court."

Ushijima's stoic expression remained unchanged, but I could sense a flicker of something deeper in his eyes.

"That's good to hear."

As Ushijima and I stood there, our gaze locked in a silent understanding, I couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of curiosity for what the future held-for both of us.

After a minute, he turned and left without a word to linger. He always made something turn on inside of me, making my heart feel heavy. I couldn't understand what it was but I just knew I wasn't over him just yet even if I distracted myself. Maybe I just need to confront my feelings.

Chapter 8: *.・+★ 07 || The Unexpected

Notes:

Literally HEARTSTRUCK

Chapter Text

As Ayumi, Hiroki, and I walked together towards school, engrossed in lighthearted banter, my phone buzzed in my pocket, indicating the arrival of a new message. Curious, I pulled it out and saw that it was from an unknown number. Confusion flickered across my face as I read the message aloud.

"Hey, it's been a while. I hope you're doing well."

Ayumi glanced over, her curiosity flashed. "Who's it from? Do you know the number?"

"No, it's an unknown number. They say it's been a while, but I can't figure out who it might be."

Hiroki, always the voice of reason, chimed in. "Hmm, maybe it's someone from your past. Have you recently changed your number?"

"No, I've had the same number for years. It's strange."

As we continued walking, I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that there was more to this message than met the eye. It felt oddly familiar as if I should know the sender, but my memory failed me.

"Well, it's not every day you receive a message from an unknown sender. Maybe you should reply and see if they reveal their identity."

"You're right. It wouldn't hurt to find out who it is."

Taking Ayumi's advice, I typed a quick response, my fingers slightly trembling with anticipation.

: "I'm sorry, but I don't recognize this number. Could you please let me know who you are?"

As we walked, my mind was flooded with possibilities. Could it be an old friend, a distant relative, or perhaps someone from a past school? The unknown sender had managed to pique my curiosity, and I couldn't help but wonder about their identity.

Minutes later, my phone buzzed once again, indicating a reply. I opened the message and felt a strange mix of surprise and disbelief wash over me.

"It's been years, Y/N. I never forgot about you."

The sender's words echoed in my mind, leaving me in a state of confusion and disbelief. The pieces started to fall into place, and it hit me with a sudden realization.

Y/N: "Oh my... It's my ex."

Ayumi and Hiroki exchanged surprised glances, clearly taken aback by the revelation.

"Your ex, the one that you told us about from middle school?"

Y/N nodded, her mind reeling with a mix of emotions. Memories of our time together flooded back, both the good and the not-so-good. I remembered the intensity of our relationship and the eventual heartbreak that followed. I never told them who it was because I didn't want to worship them and brag.

"What do you want to do? Do you want to reconnect with them?"

"I'm not sure. It's been so long, and we've both moved on with our lives. But part of me is curious to see what he has to say."

"Just be cautious, Y/N. You deserve happiness and shouldn't rush into anything if you're not ready."

Her words resonated with me, reminding me to prioritize my own well-being above all else. As we reached the school gates, I pondered over my next steps. Would I respond to the message, or would I let the past remain in the past? Only time would tell.

-

I cautiously entered the bathroom, hoping for a moment of privacy to freshen up before joining the volleyball team for their game. As I stepped in, the sound of hushed voices reached my ears, catching my attention. Curiosity piqued, I decided to investigate further, seeking out the source of the gossip.

I made my way towards the sinks, pretending to fix my hair while keeping my ears open for any snippets of conversation. Two girls stood near the mirrors, whispering to each other with animated expressions. It seemed they were deeply engrossed in discussing something juicy.

"Did you hear about Y/N? I can't believe it!"

"I know, right? It's such a scandal. I never thought she would do something like that."
My curiosity grew stronger, and I quietly slipped into an unoccupied stall, positioning myself so I could hear them better without being noticed.

"Apparently, she was seen hanging out with that guy, Semi, from the volleyball team. They seem pretty close."

"Wait, isn't she also friends with Ushijima? I wonder how he feels about it."

The mention of Ushijima's name made my heart skip a beat. What were they saying about me and Semi? And why would it concern Ushijima?

"I heard they used to be really close, but now it seems like Y/N is getting close to Semi. I wonder if there's something going on. I bet she's just another girl that can't keep one guy to herself. I bet she'll be on the whole volleyball team by the end of the year."

"I bet! She should be with the rest of whores."

My mind raced with a mix of confusion, concern, and frustration. I hated how they referred to those despicable words to me. I had no idea that my interactions with Semi and Ushijima would attract such attention and speculation.

Taking a deep breath, I reminded myself to stay calm and not let the gossip affect me. I couldn't control what others said or thought, but I could control how I handled the situation.
Stepping out of the stall, I walked towards the sink with a composed demeanor, making sure to avoid eye contact with the gossiping girls. Their whispers still lingered in the air, but I chose not to engage with their rumors.

As I washed my hands, I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I reminded myself of the genuine friendships I had formed with both Semi and Ushijima. It was important not to let gossip or misunderstandings tarnish those connections.

With renewed determination, I straightened my posture and left the bathroom, ready to await the game and leave everything else behind.

-

I entered the gym with my tote bag slung over my shoulder, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. The coach who had invited me approached me, and we exchanged greetings before finding seats next to each other. As we settled in, he struck up a conversation, asking me about my dreams and aspirations in volleyball.

We delved into a discussion about my goals and the steps I needed to take to achieve them. The coach shared his insights and advice, fueling my determination to excel on the court. I felt a genuine connection with him, appreciating his support and guidance.

As the time to board the bus approached, the coach and I concluded our conversation. He wished me luck, reminding me to stay focused and play my best. I thanked him for the opportunity and took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for the challenge ahead.

As I stepped onto the bus with my teammates, my heart pounded with a mix of excitement and nerves. The bus ride was filled with a mix of anticipation and friendship among the teammates. We exchanged words of encouragement, discussing our strategies and visualizing our success on the court. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of confidence building within me.

Arriving at the destination, I stepped off the bus, feeling a surge of determination coursing through my veins. As I made my way to the locker room, I reminded myself to embrace the challenge and cherish every moment on the court.

While everyone was getting ready in the locker room, I fixed my seat where the coaches and managers are located, and I noticed someone oddly familiar. They walked in the gym with their hands on their hips with a smile on their face.

My heart skipped a beat, and I instinctively looked away, hoping to avoid any interaction. I didn't want to delve into the past or let any distractions hinder my focus on the upcoming match. But it seemed that fate had different plans, as his gaze locked onto mine, and he began walking toward me.

I felt a mixture of apprehension and curiosity as he approached. His charismatic smile was still as captivating as ever, but I knew better than to let myself get swept up in old memories. I braced myself for the conversation that was about to unfold.

"Y/N, fancy meeting you here," he greeted me with a casual tone, his eyes glimmering with a hint of nostalgia.

I mustered a polite smile, keeping my guard up. "Hello, Oikawa. It's been a while."

He leaned against a nearby wall, studying me for a moment. "You've grown even more beautiful, you know," he remarked, his words laced with a touch of sincerity.

I felt a pang of mixed emotions, memories flooding back from our past relationship. But I reminded myself to stay grounded and focused on the present. "Thank you, Oikawa. We're here for a game, so I should probably focus on that."

Oikawa nodded a hint of understanding in his eyes. "Of course, the game. It's great to see you still passionate about volleyball. You were always talented."

I appreciated his compliment but didn't want to linger on the past. "Thank you, Oikawa. I've been working hard to learn about the sport. Excuse me."

As I turned to walk away, he called out, his voice tinged with a mix of sincerity and regret. "Y/N, I hope your team does well in the game. I'll be watching."

I paused for a moment, meeting his gaze one last time. There was a complexity of emotions in that fleeting exchange, but I knew I had to prioritize my focus and determination. "Thank you, Oikawa. Good luck to your team as well."

Before I fully left, the male shouted out to me one last time with sincerity. "I wanted to apologize, Y/N. I know things didn't end well between us, and I've had time to reflect on my actions. I've grown since then, and I wanted to make amends."

His words held a weight that I could sense. I knew that forgiveness and healing were essential for both of us to move forward. I took a moment to gather my thoughts, considering his apology.

"I appreciate your apology, Oikawa," I replied, my voice filled with a mix of honesty and caution. "But it's going to take time for me to process everything. Let's focus on the game for now."

Oikawa nodded, his gaze shifting towards the court. "I understand."

With that, we exchanged a nod, acknowledging the unspoken understanding between us. The conversation had opened a door to potential reconciliation, but it was clear that it would take time and effort from both sides.

-

As I left the gym after the outstanding game that I congratulated everyone on, a heaviness settled in my heart. The encounter with my ex had stirred up old emotions, and just now witnessing him with someone else only intensified the pain. I tried to remind myself of the reasons our relationship had ended, the flaws and inconsistencies that I had grown tired of. But the lingering desire to forgive and reconcile tugged at my heartstrings.

I thought he meant that, but sadly he didn't.

With each step, I replayed his words in my mind, questioning if I had made the right decision to walk away. The allure of familiarity and the possibility of a renewed connection clouded my judgment, leading me down a path of uncertainty.

Feeling overwhelmed, I sought solace in the nearby park, hoping the serenity of nature would help calm my troubled mind. I found an empty bench and sat down, allowing my tears to flow freely. The weight of disappointment and heartache consumed me, and I let myself grieve for the loss of what could have been.

As I sat on the bench, tears streaming down my face, a shadow cast over me, and I looked up to see Ushijima standing there. His presence surprised me, and with my puffy eyes and quivering voice, I denied that anything was wrong. But he didn't back down. He sat down beside me, unsure of what to do or say, but his mere presence offered a sense of comfort.

After a few moments of silence, I couldn't hold it in any longer. I let out a shaky breath and began to tell him about what had happened, the pain and disappointment that had overwhelmed me. His expressions remained stoic, but his words were filled with empathy and understanding.

"It's okay to cry," he said, his voice gentle yet firm. "Sometimes we need to let it all out to find our strength again."

His simple words resonated deep within me, and I felt a warmth spread through my heart. I couldn't help but open up further, sharing my fears, insecurities, and lingering emotions that had resurfaced. Ushijima listened attentively, his calm demeanor and unwavering support becoming my anchor in that moment of vulnerability.

And then, without hesitation, he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer. It was a gesture of comfort, a silent reassurance that I wasn't alone in my pain. I leaned into his embrace, allowing myself to cry freely, releasing the pent-up emotions that had weighed me down.

As tears continued to flow, I felt a mix of emotions, both the pain of my recent heartbreak and the solace of Ushijima's presence. In that moment, I realized how much I appreciated his unwavering support, his ability to offer comfort without needing to say much.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to us, Semi had been searching for me as well. When he finally spotted us, he stopped in his tracks, his expression a mixture of disappointment and sadness. Without a word, he turned and walked away, his heart heavy with unspoken emotions. Deep down, he wished that he could be the one comforting me, sharing that intimate moment. But I was completely unaware of his presence, lost in my vulnerability and the solace that Ushijima provided.

Time seemed to stand still as Ushijima and I remained on that bench, his arm around me, offering a silent reassurance. And in that shared moment of vulnerability, I felt a glimmer of hope begin to emerge. I realized that even in the depths of despair, there were people who cared, and were willing to lend a comforting presence when words failed.

As my tears gradually subsided and a sense of calm settled within me, I knew that the journey to heal and rebuild was just beginning. But with the support of people like Ushijima and the resilience within my own heart, I felt ready to face whatever lay ahead. And as we eventually stood up from the bench, a renewed strength coursed through my veins, reminding me that even in the darkest moments, there was always a glimmer of light to guide me forward.

He guided me to the bus as we made our departure. I still needed to thank him for everything he did for me. Deep down, I wished that could have lasted forever as I looked out the window from what was just now present to the past.

Chapter 9: *.・+★ 08 || Discovery

Chapter Text

As I blocked my ex's number, a sense of relief washed over me. I was tired of the constant messages and the emotional rollercoaster they brought. I needed a fresh start, free from the toxicity of that relationship.

Lost in my thoughts, I was startled when someone approached me. It was Tendou, with his mischievous grin and playful demeanor. He always had a way of brightening up even the dullest of moments.

"Oh! Look whos here! Hey there, Y/N! Mind if I join you?" Tendou asked, plopping down next to me on the bench.

I smiled at him, grateful for the distraction. "Not at all, Tendou. It's good to see you."

He leaned back, resting his hands behind his head. "So, I couldn't help but notice that you were dealing with some drama just now. Is everything good? You know I love to just here these things!"

I sighed and nodded, appreciating his concern. "Yeah, it's just some ex-related drama. But I decided to block him. It's time to move on and focus on what's important."

Tendou's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Ah, the mighty power of blocking! Good for you, Y/N. You deserve better than someone who brings you down."

His words resonated with me, and I felt a renewed sense of confidence. Tendou had always been perceptive, and his ability to see through surface-level situations was admirable.

"You're right, Tendou," I replied, my voice filled with determination. "I deserve happiness and positivity in my life. And I won't let anyone hold me back from that."

Tendou grinned mischievously, a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. "That's the spirit! So, how about we do something fun to take your mind off things? How about a friendly competition? I bet I can beat you at arm wrestling!"

I chuckled, shaking my head. "Oh, Tendou, you never back down from a challenge, do you? Alright, you're on! Let's see who's got the stronger arm."

And just like that, in that playful moment with Tendou, the weight of my past began to fade away. We engaged in a friendly arm wrestling match, laughing and cheering each other on. It was a lighthearted distraction, a reminder that life was meant to be enjoyed and that there were friends like Tendou who were always there to lift my spirits.

As Tendou and I engaged in our arm wrestling match further, our laughter filled the air. It was a lighthearted moment, a welcome distraction from the recent drama in my life. However, as the match progressed, I noticed someone approaching out of the corner of my eye. It was Semi.

Semi's expression was a mix of curiosity and concern as he observed the friendly competition between Tendou and me. He hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to join in or not. Sensing his presence, I paused the match and turned towards him.

"Hey, Semi! Join us," I called out, smiling warmly.

Semi's gaze shifted from Tendou to me, and I could see a hint of disappointment in his eyes. He took a moment to compose himself before replying, "Thanks, Y/N, but I think I'll pass this time."

I could sense that something was bothering him, and my heart sank a little. I had grown fond of Semi, and I didn't want any misunderstandings or hurt feelings between us.

Concerned, I walked over to Semi and motioned for him to join me away from the wrestling match. Tendou, ever the perceptive one, excused himself with a playful wave and returned to his spot on the bench.

Semi and I found a quiet spot nearby, away from prying eyes. I looked at him, trying to gauge his emotions. "Semi, is everything alright? You seem a bit off."

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I saw you and Ushijima earlier, and... well, it made me realize something."

Curiosity and a hint of anxiety washed over me. "What is it, Semi? You can talk to me."

He hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "I've had feelings for you for a while now, Y/N. But seeing you and Ushijima together... made me question where I stand. I thought maybe there was a chance for us, but now I'm not so sure."

My heart skipped a beat as his words sank in. I hadn't expected this confession from Semi that went more in-depth, and I was taken aback by the depth of his feelings. I reached out and gently placed a hand on his arm, offering him reassurance.

"Semi, I appreciate your honesty, and I value our friendship. But right now, my focus is on healing and finding my own happiness. I need some time to figure things out for myself."

Semi nodded, his expression a mix of sadness and understanding. "I understand, Y/N. Take all the time you need. Just know that I'll always be here for you, no matter what. But for now, I do need some time to regain myself."

As Semi walked away, ignoring my attempts to reach out, a sense of disappointment washed over me. I couldn't help but feel upset and confused about his sudden departure. I watched his retreating figure, wishing he would turn back and give me a chance to explain myself.

Just as I was lost in my thoughts, Tendou approached me with his usual playful demeanor. He had a mischievous grin on his face, ready to make light of the situation. "Well, well, Y/N, what's got you all worked up? Did Semi finally realize he can't beat me in arm wrestling?"

I forced a smile, appreciating Tendou's attempt to lighten the mood. But deep down, I knew I needed someone to confide in. Someone who would listen without judgment. I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before opening up to Tendou.

"It's not about arm wrestling, Tendou," I began, my voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "It's about Semi. I think he has feelings for me, but seeing me with Ushijima earlier made him question everything."

Tendou's playful expression faded, replaced by genuine concern. He sat down next to me, his eyes filled with understanding. "Ah, love can be a complicated game, can't it? What happened between you and Ushijima?"

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to share. But Tendou's presence felt comforting, and I knew I could trust him with my thoughts and emotions. So, I recounted the encounter with Ushijima from everytime hes been there.

Tendou listened attentively, his playful facade giving way to a more serious demeanor. "Y/N, matters of the heart are never easy to navigate. It's natural to feel confused when faced with conflicting emotions and the unexpected attention of others."

He paused, choosing his words carefully. "But remember, you deserve someone who appreciates you for who you are, someone who supports you in your dreams and makes you feel truly happy. Don't settle for anything less."

I nodded, grateful for Tendou's genuine advice. His words resonated with me, offering a sense of clarity amidst the emotional turmoil. "Thank you, Tendou. I needed to hear that. I don't want to lead anyone on or make hasty decisions based on fleeting emotions. I need to take the time to understand my own heart before getting involved with anyone."

Tendou placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Exactly, Y/N. Take your time, focus on yourself, and let your heart guide you."

He stopped, then went back into his original state. "Y/N~! Remember we still have that thing later with You, Ushiwaka, Ayumi, and me! You better be good by the time!"

I laughed, loving how he could bring people's hearts back to the surface. "I got you, I couldn't miss a moment like that, especially between you and Ayumi."

"She's a different girl that's for sure. ESPECIALLY because she doesn't like chocolate?!? Who doesn't?!?"

We exchanged laughs for a good hour, learning more about each other. This made me realize what a good friend Wakatoshi had.

-

As I stood in front of my closet, my brows furrowed in frustration. Ayumi was already dressed in a stunning outfit, radiating confidence and style. Meanwhile, I was struggling to decide what to wear for our plans later with Ushijima and Tendou.

"Come on, Y/N, you can do better than that," Ayumi teased, pointing at my latest choice—a simple t-shirt and jeans ensemble. "We're going out to have fun, not to blend into the background."

I pouted, slightly annoyed but also amused by Ayumi's playful criticism. "Hey, I thought simplicity was chic. But I guess I'll take your word for it."

Ayumi smirked and crossed her arms, giving me an exaggeratedly serious look. "Oh, absolutely. Simplicity is chic, but we're talking about making a statement tonight. Trust me, I've got just the thing for you."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "Alright, fashion expert, show me what you've got."

Ayumi rummaged through my closet like a professional stylist on a mission. She pulled out a colorful dress that I had completely forgotten about. It had a unique pattern and a flattering silhouette, but I hesitated.

"You sure this is a good idea?" I questioned, holding the dress up against me. "It seems a bit... bold."

Ayumi waved her hand dismissively. "Bold is what we're going for, Y/N! You'll turn heads in this. Plus, the vibrant colors suit your personality perfectly."

I couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. Ayumi always knew how to push me out of my comfort zone and bring out my confidence. She had an eye for fashion and a knack for making me feel fabulous.

"Well, if you say so," I conceded, slipping into the dress. It hugged my curves in all the right places and made me feel like a walking work of art. "What do you think?"

Ayumi's eyes lit up with approval as she clapped her hands together. "Yes, Y/N! That's the spirit. You look absolutely stunning. Ushijima won't know what hit him!"

A hit came right towards me as I forgot we were seeing him. I just didn't retaliate to that and let that step aside for now.

We both burst into laughter at her remark, feeling giddy with excitement for the evening ahead. With Ayumi's guidance and support, I knew I had found the perfect outfit—one that not only reflected my personal style but also allowed me to step out of my comfort zone.

As we finished getting ready, I admired Ayumi's impeccable sense of fashion. She had a talent for pulling together the most fashionable ensembles effortlessly. I couldn't have asked for a better friend to guide me through the intricacies of style.

Together, Ayumi and I headed out, ready to meet Ushijima and Tendou. As we walked side by side, our laughter filling the air, I felt a surge of confidence and excitement. With Ayumi by my side, I knew the night would be filled with unforgettable memories and stylish adventures.

"Its fine",,,USHIJIMAS POV

As I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my collar, my grandmother walked into the room. She had a warm smile on her face, her eyes filled with affection.

"Ushijima, can I have a moment with you?" she asked, her voice gentle yet commanding.I turned to face her, a curious expression on my face. "Of course. What's on your mind?"

She sat down on the edge of the bed, patting the spot next to her. I joined her, giving her my full attention. My relationship with my grandmother was special; she had always been there for me, offering guidance and wisdom.

"I heard you're going out with your friends tonight, including Y/N," she said, her voice filled with fondness. "You know, Ushijima, Y/N is a remarkable young woman. I've seen how she brings a lightness to your eyes and a smile to your face."

I nodded, feeling a slight warmth spread through my chest. It was true. Y/N had a way of making me feel things I hadn't experienced before. She ignited something within me, something that made me yearn for her presence.

Grandma continued, her eyes filled with wisdom. "Love is a beautiful thing, 'Toshi. It can bring immense joy and happiness, but it can also be challenging and unpredictable. It requires understanding, patience, and compromise."

I listened intently, absorbing her words. My grandmother had always been a source of wisdom and guidance in matters of the heart. I valued her advice deeply.

"Remember, relationships are built on trust and communication," she emphasized, her hand resting on mine. "Be open and honest with Y/N, and listen to her. Pay attention to her needs, and her dreams, and support her in every way you can."

Her words resonated deeply within me. I knew that if I wanted to pursue a relationship with her, I had to be willing to open up, to share my thoughts and feelings with her. It was a new territory for me, but one I was willing to explore.

"I understand," I replied, my voice filled with determination. "I will be there for her, support her dreams, and be open about my own."

She smiled, her eyes shining with pride. "That's my boy. Now, go and enjoy yourself. Have fun, 'Toshi, and remember to cherish every moment."

With a nod, I stood up, feeling a renewed sense of purpose and clarity. I thanked my grandmother for her advice, her words echoing in my mind as I prepared to meet my friends. As I left the room, I carried my grandmother's wisdom with me. I knew that building a relationship with Y/N would require effort and understanding, but I was willing to give it my all. With her guidance and the love and support of my grandmother, I felt ready to embrace the journey ahead.

"Taking my spotlight always",,, Y/NS POV

-

As I approached the meeting spot with Ayumi by my side, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. It was our planned hangout with Ushijima and Tendou, and I was curious to see what the evening had in store for us. As we joined them, I noticed everyone was dressed up, looking their best for the occasion. It was a pleasant surprise, and I couldn't help but smile.

I positioned myself behind Ayumi, tapping her shoulder gently to get her attention. She turned around, her eyes widening as she took in my outfit. Ayumi had helped me choose it, and I was grateful for her keen sense of style. The dress she picked was elegant and accentuated my features, making me feel both confident and comfortable.

Ushijima and Tendou turned their gaze toward us, and Tendou couldn't resist his playful nature. He nudged Ushijima and smirked mischievously.

"Hey, Ushijima, looks like Y/N got all dolled up for you," Tendou teased, a twinkle in his eyes.

I felt my cheeks warm up at his comment, but I tried to play it off, feigning nonchalance. "Oh, come on, Tendou. We're just hanging out."

Ushijima remained stoic, his gaze locked on me. "You look nice, Y/N," he stated simply, his voice holding a hint of admiration.

His words sent a pleasant shiver down my spine, and I couldn't help but smile in return. "Thank you, Ushijima. You're looking great too."

Ayumi chimed in, unable to contain her excitement but with a hint of a depressing playful tone. "Oh, come on, you two! I feel lonely now"

Tendou chuckled, clearly enjoying the banter. "Ayumi's got a point, you know."

I blushed even deeper, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and happiness. "Well, we'll see about that, won't we?" I replied, trying to maintain a playful tone.

Ushijima remained quiet, his expression unreadable. But his eyes held a certain warmth that I couldn't ignore.

After that, Tendou knew the outfit was fitting to be, but he teased on about it.

"I wonder who picked that outfit though. I bet it was Ayumi and her horribleee taste!"

Ayumi gazed over at him, then walked up hitting him on the side of his head.

"Shut up Satori! That's why no one likes you."

I laughed at their relationship for it was amusing. I could also notice Ushijima, how he was so calm and collected- looking over at me. I smiled at him hoping the evening was eventful.

-

As we settled into a cozy corner of the café after enjoying such sightseeing views, the air filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods and the sound of friendly chatter. Tendou, always the playful one, took charge of ordering for everyone, and Ushijima accompanied him to the counter. As they walked away, I couldn't help but wonder what they were discussing.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I leaned in closer to Ayumi, hoping to catch any snippets of their conversation. We exchanged eager glances, both intrigued by the mysterious exchange happening before our eyes.

"They're definitely up to something," Ayumi whispered, her eyes sparkling with excitement.I nodded in agreement, my gaze fixed on Ushijima and Tendou as they leaned in, their voices hushed. Their serious expressions contrasted with their usual light-hearted demeanor, piquing my curiosity even further.

"I wonder what they're planning," I whispered back, unable to contain my curiosity.Ayumi shrugged, a mischievous smile dancing on her lips. "Knowing Tendou, it could be anything. But I have a feeling it's something"

THEIR CONVERSATION.....Ushijima's POV

-----

As Tendou and I approached the counter to place our orders, he leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Ushiwaka, you've been spending a lot of time with Y/N lately. Are you finally going to make a move?" Tendou asked, his playful tone laced with curiosity.

I glanced at him, my expression remaining stoic. "Why would I?"

Tendou chuckled, his grin widening. "Come on, man. Don't tell me you're blind to the chemistry between you two. It's practically crackling in the air whenever you're together."

I shrugged, maintaining my cool demeanor. "Chemistry or not, it's not something I'm actively pursuing."

Tendou's eyes twinkled mischievously as he leaned in closer. "You're missing out, my friend. Y/N is a catch, and if you don't make a move soon, someone else might sweep her off her feet."

I raised an eyebrow, the corners of my lips tugging ever so slightly. "Is that a challenge, Tendou?"

He laughed, his voice carrying a hint of excitement. "Consider it a friendly warning. But hey, if you're content with just being friends, I won't push it. Just remember, opportunities come and go."

I nodded, acknowledging his words. "I appreciate your concern, but I'll handle things my own way."

Tendou's playful facade softened for a moment as he regarded me, a glimmer of genuine care in his eyes. "Just don't let fear hold you back, Ushijima. You deserve happiness, and Y/N seems like someone who could bring that into your life."

I nodded again, a hint of gratitude seeping into my expression. "Thank you, Tendou. I'll keep that in mind."

With our orders placed, we returned to the table, the tantalizing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries filling the air. As we joined our friends, I couldn't help but let Tendou's words linger in my mind. Perhaps it was time to reconsider my approach and explore the potential that lay between Y/N and me. But for now, I decided to enjoy the company, savor the delectable treats, and let the evening unfold naturally, knowing that every moment would shape our journey in unexpected ways.

-----

BACK TO Y/NS POV!

We giggled softly, sharing our anticipation and speculating about the possibilities. The café buzzed with laughter and the clinking of cups, but our attention remained fixated on Ushijima and Tendou as they returned to our table, each carrying a tray of delectable treats.

As they placed the trays down, Tendou flashed a mischievous grin, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Alright, everyone, feast your eyes and your taste buds on these delicious treats!"

We eagerly reached for the plates, admiring the beautifully crafted pastries and sweets before us. The café had certainly lived up to its reputation, and we couldn't wait to indulge in the flavors.

As we savored each bite, the conversation flowed effortlessly. We laughed, shared stories, and reveled in each other's company. Ushijima, normally reserved, seemed more at ease, joining in the lighthearted banter and engaging with us in a way that felt special.

However, I couldn't help but notice occasional glances exchanged between Ushijima and Tendou, their eyes filled with a silent understanding. It fueled my curiosity even more, wondering what plans they had concocted for the rest of the night.

But for now, I decided to let go of my questions and fully immerse myself in the present moment. The warmth of friendship and the sweetness of the treats enveloped us, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

-

As Tendou playfully suggested walking Ayumi home, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of uncertainty. Ayumi's resistance was evident, but Tendou's subtle signals spoke volumes. It seemed he was trying to create an opportunity for me to be alone with Ushijima.

I glanced at Ushijima, catching his eye for a brief moment. There was a flicker of understanding, a silent agreement that we should seize this moment.

"You two go ahead. We'll see you tomorrow" I said, trying to hide the nerves in my voice.Ayumi shot me a knowing look, her eyes glancing between me and Ushijima. She smiled mischievously before whispering, "Bye you too!"

Tendou and Ayumi continued ahead, leaving Ushijima and me alone. The air felt charged with anticipation as we began walking side by side. The silence between us was comfortable, but I could sense things hanging in the air, waiting to be asked.

Finally, Ushijima broke the silence, his voice steady yet laced with curiosity. "Y/N."

I looked over, wondering the reason for my name to be called out. "Yeah?"

He took a deep breath, his gaze focused ahead as he spoke. "I'm going to be honest. I want it."

I paused, trying to understand what he meant. The confusion brought more speculating questions. "What do you want Ushi? If you need anything, we could go get it. I don't mind a longer walk!"

He stopped, facing forward as he was about to speak once more. "I don't need anything special. I just want it. You."

My heart was definitely trying to leave my body after hearing those words. I didn't know what to say or how to react. My expressions reacted themselves as my face was shocked and the pigment of my skin grew pink and red.

Ushijima didn't face my way at all during this, but he kept spilling more words that made him realize things. "Throughout those years, I didn't realize that that the girl near the water would make me feel like this. I don't want this year to end differently."

My house was on the corner where we stopped, and I was soon to run to that house just to sleep this away. I couldn't handle this, for it felt like I was going to melt and fade away.

Sooner or later, the male looked in my direction, gazing into my eyes as he sentenced his departing words.

"Give me one last chance to make it right. I cannot end this year or end anything without someone I've been needing"

I didn't give him any answers to anything. I tried, but I wasn't capable of speaking. He bowed after departing- giving me a good night on this eventful day. I wanted to stop him, I wanted to tell him my feelings as well. Sadly I couldn't which made me notice something different inside of me.

I WANNA KICK MY FEET OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Chapter Text

As I read the message about the field trip, a mix of excitement and nervousness coursed through me. Today was the day, and I wanted to make sure I looked my best. I carefully selected an outfit that was both comfortable and stylish, wanting to leave a good impression on the trip.

After getting ready, I grabbed the essentials I needed for the day and checked my phone. Hiroki and Ayumi had already messaged in our group chat, letting me know they were waiting at the train station. With a deep breath, I gathered my belongings and headed out the door, my heart pounding with anticipation.

As I approached the train station, I spotted Hiroki and Ayumi, their faces lighting up as they saw me. We exchanged cheerful greetings, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for their presence. They were my pillars of support, my friends who had been with me through thick and thin.

"Y/N, you look amazing! Ready for the field trip?" Ayumi exclaimed, her eyes scanning my outfit with approval.

I grinned, feeling a surge of confidence. "Thanks, Ayumi! I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Let's have fun today!"

Hiroki chimed in, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "Absolutely! This field trip is going to be epic. We'll have a blast, I'm sure of it."

As we waited for the train to arrive, we chatted excitedly about the upcoming trip. The nervousness from the previous incident still lingered in the back of my mind, but being with my friends helped alleviate some of that tension. Their presence provided comfort and a sense of security.

The train finally arrived, and we boarded together, finding seats where we could sit together. As the train whisked us away, the anticipation for the field trip grew. We shared stories, laughed, and exchanged playful banter, creating an atmosphere of joy.

Deep down, though, I couldn't shake the thought of the unexpected. What surprises awaited us on this field trip? How would it unfold? I reminded myself to stay open-minded and embrace whatever came my way, knowing that I had my friends by my side.

As the train carried us closer to our destination, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness swirling within me. The journey was just beginning, and I was determined to make the most of it, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

-

As the teacher announced our itinerary for the field trip, I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. The Kanto region was known for its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes, and I couldn't wait to explore it with my friends. However, amidst all the anticipation, a flicker of nervousness ignited within me.

As I chatted and laughed with Hiroki and Ayumi, my eyes unintentionally scanned the crowd, searching for a familiar face. And there he was, Ushijima, standing tall and composed alongside Tendou. Memories of last night's activities flooded my mind, causing my heart to quicken its pace.

I couldn't deny the effect Ushijima had on me. His presence stirred emotions within me that I couldn't fully comprehend. The way he carried himself with confidence, his unwavering dedication to his pursuits, and the moments we had shared – they all made an indelible impression on my heart.

Lost in my thoughts, I wondered if Ushijima felt the same way still. Was there a chance for something more between us? Or was it all just a fleeting connection, destined to fade away with time? The uncertainty tugged at my heart, adding an extra layer of complexity to the already vibrant atmosphere of the field trip.

But I couldn't let my emotions consume me entirely. This was a day meant for exploration, adventure, and making memories with my friends. I made a silent vow to myself to enjoy the trip to the fullest, regardless of the unanswered questions in my heart.

With a deep breath, I refocused my attention on Hiroki and Ayumi. We exchanged stories and planned the places we wanted to visit during the field trip. Their infectious enthusiasm and lighthearted banter brought a smile to my face, reminding me of the joy of friendship and the bonds we shared.

As the bus finally arrived, we boarded with excitement, finding seats together. The engine roared to life, and the journey began.

the excitement for the field trip still buzzing in the air, Ayumi couldn't resist teasing me about the events involving Ushijima.

With a mischievous smile, she leaned closer and whispered, "So, Y/N, any updates on you and Ushijima? Did he finally crack a smile?"

I blushed, feeling my cheeks warm at her playful inquiry. "Ayumi, you know there's nothing to update. We're just friends," I replied, attempting to downplay the situation.

She raised an eyebrow, a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Oh, come on, Y/N! I saw the way he looked at you last night. It was like you were the only person in the room. And don't even get me started on that umbrella incident. There's definitely something there."

I sighed, unable to hide my own curiosity and confusion about Ushijima's actions. "I don't know, Ayumi. Ushijima is so stoic and hard to read. It's difficult to gauge what he's really thinking or feeling."

Ayumi nudged me playfully. "Well, that's where you come in, my dear friend. Maybe it's time to take the initiative and have a heart-to-heart conversation with him. Find out what's really going on. You never know what might happen."

I pondered her words, realizing there was some truth in them. If I wanted clarity and closure, I needed to confront my feelings and communicate with Ushijima directly. It wouldn't be easy, but it was the only way to unravel the mysteries between us.

"I guess you're right," I admitted, a mix of nerves and determination filling me. "When the time is right, I'll talk to him. I want to understand where we stand and if there's any potential for something more."

Ayumi grinned, clearly satisfied with her advice. "That's the spirit, Y/N! Embrace the adventure, both in and out of the classroom. And remember, I'm here to support you every step of the way."

Her words brought a sense of reassurance, reminding me that I wasn't alone in this journey of self-discovery. With Ayumi's unwavering friendship and guidance, I felt more empowered to face the unknown, including the enigmatic realm of my connection with Ushijima.

As the bus rumbled on, carrying us closer to our destination, I let go of my worries for now, focusing instead on the excitement of the upcoming adventures. Field trips were meant for exploration, learning, and creating lasting memories. And who knows, maybe amidst the breathtaking landscapes and shared experiences, the path forward with Ushijima would become clearer.

-
As we ventured through the lively streets of the Kanto region, the atmosphere filled with the scent of street food and the chatter of locals, we couldn't help but immerse ourselves in the vibrant surroundings. The energy was infectious, and I was thrilled to be experiencing this new place with my friends by my side.

We strolled through various shops, each offering unique treasures and souvenirs. Ayumi's eyes gleamed with delight as she admired the delicate ceramics on display, while Hiroki couldn't resist trying on quirky hats at a street vendor. Laughter echoed through the narrow alleyways as we tried on accessories and shared amusing stories.

Along the way, we struck up conversations with the friendly residents, eager to learn more about the region and their experiences living there. We asked about their favorite spots to visit, the local delicacies to try, and even their thoughts on the cultural significance of the area. Their warmth and openness in sharing their stories added an extra layer of depth to our exploration, enriching our understanding of the Kanto region.

As we continued our journey, we stumbled upon breathtaking sightseeing spots that showcased the region's natural beauty. From picturesque gardens with vibrant blooms to serene temples exuding a sense of tranquility, every step brought us closer to the heart of Kanto's rich heritage. We marveled at the intricate architecture, listened to the whispers of history, and captured countless photos to cherish the memories forever.

The day was a whirlwind of new experiences, laughter, and camaraderie. The vibrant atmosphere of the Kanto region had captivated our hearts, and we were grateful for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in its culture and beauty. Our adventures and interactions with the locals added a deeper connection to the place, leaving a lasting impression on each of us.

As the sun began to set, we gathered to share our favorite moments of the day, savoring the memories we had created together. The Kanto region had not only offered us a chance to explore and discover its wonders but had also strengthened the bond between us, deepening our friendship.

With hearts full of gratitude and excitement, we went to the hotel and our assigned rooms with one other for the cultural event tonight.

-

As Ayumi laid out the kimonos she had brought, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. "Which one do you think will suit me best?" I asked Ayumi, eyeing the beautiful traditional garments before me.

"Hmm, let's see," Ayumi pondered, holding up one kimono against me and then another. "I think this one will look stunning on you. It complements your complexion and brings out the color of your eyes."

I smiled, trusting Ayumi's fashion sense. "Alright, let's go with that one then."

As Ayumi helped me slip into the elegant kimono, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate patterns and delicate fabric. It felt like a piece of art draped around me, and I couldn't help but feel a connection to the rich culture and history behind it.

"You look absolutely stunning, Y/N!" Ayumi exclaimed, a hint of pride in her voice.

"Thank you, Ayumi," I replied, feeling grateful for her help and encouragement. "You've been such a great friend to me. I don't know what I would do without you."

Ayumi grinned. "Oh, stop it! You're making me blush. But seriously, you deserve to look and feel your best tonight. And who knows, maybe Ushijima will finally realize what he's been missing."

I chuckled, feeling both touched and amused by Ayumi's persistence in the matter. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Ayumi. But I do appreciate your support and confidence in me."

Once we were both ready, we joined the rest of our friends in the hotel lobby, all dressed in their own stunning kimonos and traditional outfits. There was an air of excitement and anticipation as we made our way to the cultural event venue.

As we stepped into the event hall, the ambiance was enchanting, with soft traditional music playing and beautiful decorations adorning the space. There were various activities and performances showcasing the Kanto region's cultural heritage.

Throughout the evening, I couldn't help but notice Ushijima's presence, even in a crowd. Our eyes met several times, and I couldn't shake the feeling of a connection between us, one that seemed to transcend words.

As the night progressed, we all immersed ourselves in the cultural experiences, sharing laughter and joy with each other. It was a night to remember, not just because of the captivating event but also because of the bonds we were forming and strengthening with each passing moment.
And amidst all the fun and festivity, I couldn't help but feel that this field trip was turning into something much more than just an exploration of the Kanto region.

It was becoming a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and perhaps, even the discovery of something deeper with Ushijima. Only time would tell what this adventure would unfold, but I was ready to embrace it with an open heart and an adventurous spirit.

-

As I mustered up the courage to ask Ushijima if he wanted to hang out for the evening, my heart raced with anticipation. I approached him with a confident smile and a glimmer of excitement in my eyes.

"Hey, Ushijima," I began, trying to keep my voice steady. "Would you like to hang out tonight? There's so much to see and do, and it would be more fun with you by my side."

Ushijima looked at me, his gaze steady and his expression calm. After a moment of silence, he nodded and replied, "Sure, I'd like that."

My heart skipped a beat as relief washed over me. I couldn't believe he agreed, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of joy inside. We set off together, exploring the various stands and attractions that surrounded us.

We sampled different street foods, sharing bites of savory and sweet treats. Laughter filled the air as we navigated through the bustling crowds, immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the event. The sounds, smells, and sights enveloped us, creating memories that would be etched in our minds forever.

I was amazed at how effortlessly we fell into conversation, our words flowing naturally and comfortably. Ushijima may have been known for his stoic and reserved nature, but that night, he showed me a side of him that was genuine and engaging.

We talked about our interests, our dreams, and our experiences. It was refreshing to connect with him on a deeper level, beyond the boundaries of our usual encounters. I realized that there was more to Ushijima than what met the eye, and I found myself drawn to his authenticity and quiet strength.

As the evening wore on, the atmosphere became more magical. The lights and decorations illuminated the night sky, casting a warm and inviting glow over everything around us. We shared moments of awe and wonder, capturing the beauty of the evening in our hearts.

The time we spent together felt effortless and meaningful. There was a sense of connection and understanding that grew between us, a bond that seemed to transcend the boundaries of friendship. It was a night filled with laughter, shared experiences, and a growing sense of closeness.

As we found a comfortable spot to watch the firework show, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. Being alone with Ushijima felt different from our usual group hangouts, and I wanted to make the most of this opportunity to get to know him better.

"So, how are you finding the trip so far?" I asked, trying to break the ice and initiate a conversation.

"It's been enjoyable," Ushijima replied, his deep voice carrying a hint of warmth. "The cultural event was fascinating, and spending time with everyone has been pleasant."

I smiled, happy that he seemed to be enjoying himself. "I'm glad to hear that. It's been a fun trip indeed. I'm grateful we all got the chance to experience this together."

Ushijima nodded, his gaze fixed on the sky as we waited for the firework show to begin. "You seemed to be having a great time with Hiroki and Ayumi earlier."

"Yeah, they're great friends," I said, feeling a bit relieved that he noticed. "We have a lot of fun together. And, um, thank you for joining me tonight. I know it's not exactly your thing."

Ushijima turned his head to look at me, his expression softening slightly. "It's not that I dislike fireworks. It's just that I usually find more comfort in quieter settings."

I nodded, understanding his preference for peace and tranquility. "I can see that. Sometimes, it's nice to have some peaceful moments away from the noise and crowd."

He smiled, a rare sight that made my heart skip a beat. "You understand me well, Y/N."

As the firework show started, we fell into a comfortable silence, both lost in the beauty of the colorful explosions in the night sky. The sight was mesmerizing, and I found myself stealing glances at Ushijima every now and then, appreciating his presence beside me.

I couldn't help but tell him something. Breaking the beautiful show, I responded back to what he said the other night.

"Ushi, I realized something." I turned to him as he looked my way too. The fireworks that played in this scenery brightened our spotlight even more. I felt my heart quicken as I released something next.

"I do like you. After all those years I've been with you, I always kept you with me. I had a major crush on you in like the first year in highschool. I know its so unexpected. I just-"

My words came to an end as I felt Ushijima's presence closer to me. A shocking turn occured as we exchanged a kiss for he initiated it. It was different, and I didn't feel afraid. The fireworks bloomed as this intimate scene was in session. What could have been any different tonight. I felt at ease. This was wonderful. I couldn't have wished anything else.

Chapter 12: *.・+★ 11 || Different Ideals

Chapter Text

As I groggily opened my eyes, I realized that it was time to head back home. The room was filled with a soft morning light, and I could hear the faint sounds of my friends stirring around me.

Ayumi, always the early riser, was already up and looking effortlessly stunning.

"Good morning, Y/N!" Ayumi greeted me with a playful smile. "So, how was your night?"

My cheeks instantly flushed, a vivid reminder of the memories that flooded my mind. The events of the previous evening replayed in my thoughts, making my heart race all over again.

I let out a shy chuckle, unable to hide my embarrassment. "It was... amazing, Ayumi. We had so much fun, and I feel like there's something more."

Ayumi's eyes sparkled with excitement as she clasped her hands together. "Oh, Y/N, I'm so happy for you! What did you guys do, I want to know everything!"

Her words filled me with a mix of nervous anticipation and hopeful enthusiasm. She wanted to know everything but I wasn't able yet, for I didn't know much about it myself.

She understood and just didn't bug me anymore. Sooner or later I know she would.

As we packed our belongings and prepared to head back home, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation and hope for what the future held. I saw the male sitting down already. Tendou of course tapped him and said a little to few words that made him look at me. I turned away, quickly sitting down next to Ayumi. I wanted more with him than I realized. I just needed to be brave and stand up, right?

-

As we arrived back at the school, the familiar surroundings brought a sense of bittersweetness. The field trip had been an incredible journey, and now it was time to return to our daily routines. Ushijim stayed back at the dorms, so I decided to seize the opportunity to have a private moment together.

I watched as he swiftly entered the dormitory, his tall figure disappearing through the doors. I waited patiently, my heart pounding with anticipation. Moments later, he emerged, his belongings safely stowed away. The sight of him, strong and composed, made my heart skip a beat.

"Can we take a walk?" I suggested, my voice slowly breaking character.

He nodded, his expression like always. Walking side by side, we made our way through the campus, finding solace in the tranquil surroundings.

The gentle breeze rustled the leaves, creating a soothing melody as we strolled along. We exchanged casual banter, recalling the memorable moments of the previous night.
As we walked, I couldn't help but steal glances at Ushijima. His presence was magnetic, his quiet strength and unwavering determination captivating. With every step, my feelings for him grew deeper, and the connection we shared became more profound.

Finally, as we reached a secluded spot, I mustered the courage to speak my mind. "Ushijima, last night... it meant a lot to me."

He didn't bother to look at me but still spoke and responded. "Y/N it did the same to me. I was able to realize a lot of things."

He paused after that, then continued but his tone was much different than before or any other time. "I just don't understand the concept of a relationship, or being partners with one another. That contact between us was special, but I don't know how to go further."

I looked confused and my heart grew a tugging pain. "What do you mean? I thought you were ready since you did that.. Ushi-"

"I'm not, and I do not know what to do. I'm sorry."

"We could take it slow, I do like you." My eyes burned, needing the chance to let those held-back tears flow down my face.

"I need to focus on my career and my last year."

Throughout the entire conversation, the male didn't bother to look my way. Sadness flowed through my veins, but anger grew within them.

"I don't get it. I don't get it at all. I'm-" My words broke apart as I couldn't talk anymore. Water rushed from my eyes to my face like heavy rain falling down. I couldn't bare what he had to say. I made such a scene during that point. Maybe one look would help me understand, or something different he had to say but there was nothing. I left him standing there for I had nothing to say. I ran off crying from what I thought we had.

On the other hand, Ushijima was really hoping for this moment between them. He yearned for it. There was a moment of thought, that he just didn't know what to do. He wanted her by his side, but what would happen next? That was what he was afraid of.

-

I walked down the street to the train station until I happened to bump into someone. It was Semi. He greeted me but I didn't say anything. As he kept on- I looked up, barely seeing his appearance due to my condition from crying. He was worried and concerned for me and my health.

"Y/N, are you okay?! What happened?" He said, resting his arms on my shoulders. I looked at him and just kept crying. I couldn't hold it in anymore.

We both decided to wait for the next train until I got my act together. I didn't respond to his heartful confession, but even after ignoring me he still cared.

"Semi, why are you doing this?" I said, my voice cracking when each syllable was performed.

He sighed, then responded to my words with sincerity. "Because I care for you. Deep down, ever since this year started, I was glad to speak up and talk to you. I can't get mad over something little. We're friends, remember?"

I looked over at the male, smiling while more tears filled with salt dropped down my face. Semi panicked as I cried again. Maybe it was a weird condition.

-

As I boarded the bus, We both sat next to each other. Despite the initial awkwardness I created, being around Semi felt comfortable, like being in the presence of an old friend.

Throughout the bus ride, we engaged in light-hearted conversations, reminiscing about the field trip and sharing anecdotes that made us both laugh. The tension that had lingered between us seemed to dissipate, replaced by a newfound sense of something different.

As the bus came to a halt, signaling our arrival at my stop, I gathered my belongings, ready to bid Semi farewell. But to my surprise, he stood up as well, his gaze filled with concern.

"Mind if I walk you home?" he asked, his voice gentle and genuine.

I hesitated for a moment, caught off guard by his offer. But after a brief internal debate, I realized that a part of me yearned for the company, someone to lean on at that moment. So, with a smile, I nodded and accepted his offer.

We began our leisurely stroll through the familiar streets, the evening air cool against our skin. The conversation flowed effortlessly as if the barriers that had once existed between us had vanished. Semi shared stories from his own experiences, and I found myself opening up as well, allowing him a glimpse into my thoughts and emotions.

As we walked, I couldn't help but notice the genuine concern in Semi's eyes, his unwavering support, and understanding. It was a side of him I hadn't fully appreciated before, and it touched me deeply.

When we reached my doorstep, I turned to face Semi, gratitude filling my heart.

"Thank you for walking me home, Semi. I had a wonderful time today, and I appreciate your company."

He smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "It was my pleasure, Y/N. I'm glad we had the chance to spend some time together. If you ever need someone to talk to or a friend to lean on, remember that I'm here."

His words resonated within me, and I realized that I had underestimated the depth of our connection. While our journey had taken unexpected twists and turns, it also allowed us to discover the strength of our friendship.

As I bid Semi goodnight and entered my home, a sense of contentment settled over me. I knew that regardless of the romantic possibilities that had surfaced during the field trip, I had gained something invaluable—a true friend who would be there for me through thick and thin.
And with a heart filled with gratitude and optimism, I looked forward to the future, cherishing the friendships I had forged and embracing the unknown adventures that lay ahead.

-

I put my things away and lay down on my bed. I got messages from a few different people but I didn't bother. I was going through something that just messed up my usual routines. I needed some time off, and people had to understand that.

Chapter Text

As the sun rose on a new day, I found myself unable to summon the strength to face school. The events of the previous day had left me emotionally drained and overwhelmed. The sight of Ushijima, the memories we shared, and the uncertainty of what lay ahead had taken a toll on my spirit.

Taking a much-needed break, I decided to spend the day in solitude, seeking solace in the comfort of my own thoughts. I allowed myself to process the whirlwind of emotions, reflecting on the journey that had brought me to this point.

It was not an easy decision to stay home, but I knew that taking this time for self-care and introspection was essential for my well-being. I needed space to heal and gather my thoughts, to come to terms with the complexities of my feelings.

Throughout the day, I engaged in activities that brought me comfort and solace. I lost myself in the pages of a favorite book, finding solace in its familiar world. I took long walks in nature, allowing the tranquility of the surroundings to soothe my troubled mind. I listened to music that resonated with my emotions, finding solace in the melodies that mirrored my inner turmoil.

As the hours passed, I watched my mother enter the house, her exhaustion was palpable. The weight of the world seemed to rest upon her shoulders, evident in the way she moved with weary steps. Concern etched across my face as I rushed to her side, offering assistance in any way I could.

"Mom, let me help you," I pleaded, my voice laced with worry. "You've been working so hard, you need to rest."

She smiled weakly, appreciating my concern. "Thank you, dear. I just need to lie down for a moment. It's been a long day."

I guided her towards the living room, gently supporting her as she sat down on the couch. Her fatigue was palpable, her energy drained from the demands of her job. I fetched a glass of water and handed it to her, hoping to provide some relief.

But as I turned to give her a moment of respite, a sudden and unexpected occurrence took place. My mother's eyes grew heavy, and before I knew it, she had passed out, succumbing to the exhaustion that had consumed her.

Panic and fear gripped my heart as I rushed to her side, calling out her name in desperation. I checked for her pulse, relieved to find that she was breathing steadily. However, the situation weighed heavily on me, and I knew that immediate action was necessary.

With trembling hands, I dialed the emergency hotline, explaining the situation and seeking guidance. Help was on the way, but the wait felt agonizingly long. In those moments of uncertainty, I clung to the hope that my mother would be okay, that she would find the strength to overcome this ordeal.

As the paramedics arrived, their professional expertise brought a glimmer of reassurance. They assessed my mother's condition, providing the necessary medical attention she required. While the situation was undoubtedly distressing, knowing that she was in capable hands offered some measure of comfort.

As my mother was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment, I accompanied her, anxiety coursing through my veins. The ride was filled with a mix of worry, prayers, and the unwavering determination to support my mother in any way I could.

In the hours that followed, the crew asked me questions.

"What happened, how did occur?" One of them announced.

"I don't know, I think she passed out due to exhaustion?"

"Do you have any other family or anyone close to assist you?" Another spoke with that concerned expression.

I didn't have anything to say, I shook my head as they stood silent for the rest of the ride.

-

As I stood in the sterile confines of the hospital waiting room, the words of the doctors echoed in my ears. They explained that my mother would need to be monitored closely, her condition requiring continuous observation and care. The weight of the situation settled heavily upon my shoulders, filling me with a mix of concern and determination.

The doctors assured me that they would do everything in their power to provide the best care for my mother. Their professionalism and expertise offered a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty that hung in the air. Still, a sense of unease gnawed at my insides, knowing that the road ahead would be filled with challenges.

I took a deep breath, willing myself to remain composed. I knew that I needed to be strong, not only for myself but also for my mother. She had always been there for me, offering unwavering support and love, and now it was my turn to be her pillar of strength.

As the hours ticked by, I stayed by my mother's side, watching over her with unwavering vigilance. The beeping of machines and the hushed voices of medical professionals became a constant soundtrack to my existence. Every blip, every flutter of her eyelids, held a significance that couldn't be ignored.

I stared at my phone, my trembling fingers hovering over the screen. My mind swirled with confusion and fear, unsure of who to call in this moment of desperation. The weight of the situation bore down on me, threatening to consume my fragile composure.

As I scanned through my contacts, I felt a knot tighten in my stomach. Who could I turn to for solace and guidance in this moment of uncertainty? My gaze darted from name to name, searching for a familiar face, a trusted voice that could offer some semblance of comfort.

The truth was, I felt lost and alone, grappling with the weight of my emotions. The gravity of the situation seemed to suffocate me, leaving me gasping for air. Panic threatened to overwhelm my senses as I realized the magnitude of the decision I had to make.

With a trembling hand, I finally dialed a number, hoping that the voice on the other end could provide the support I so desperately needed. As the phone rang, my heart pounded in my chest, the seconds stretching into eternity. Would they answer? Would they understand?

The call went to voicemail, leaving me feeling even more isolated and vulnerable. A surge of frustration and disappointment coursed through me, tears welling in my eyes. I felt the weight of my predicament pressing down upon me, threatening to shatter my fragile resolve.

In that moment, a rush of uncertainty swept over me. Who could I confide in? Who could offer the guidance and comfort I sought? It seemed as though the world had turned its back on me, leaving me to navigate this tumultuous journey alone.

But then, amidst the chaos of my thoughts, a flicker of clarity emerged. I realized that I didn't have to face this alone. There were people in my life who cared, who would be there for me if I allowed them in. It was up to me to reach out, to let them share the burden that weighed so heavily upon my soul.

With renewed determination, I gathered my strength and made another call. This time, my voice quivered with vulnerability as I explained my situation, my voice cracking with the weight of my emotions.

"I..I'm scared..."

My hand quivered as I heard the response of the other.

"Are you Okay?"

I took a breath before replying back.

"I'm scared, can you come to me?"

They responded with a simple 'Yes' as they told me not to worry. They hung up the phone and so I sent them my location. Even after everything

They were still there for me.

Chapter 14: *.・+★ 13 || Comfort

Chapter Text

I stood there, my legs trembling with anticipation and anxiety. Every time the door swung open, my heart leaped in my chest, hoping to catch a glimpse of the person I had called. As the minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity, my eyes scanned the room, searching for any sign of their arrival.

Then, amidst the sea of faces, I caught sight of someone who bore a striking resemblance to the person I had called. A rush of relief washed over me as they approached, and without a second thought, I found myself enveloped in a warm, comforting embrace.

As I leaned into the hug, a mix of emotions flooded my senses. Gratitude, relief, and a profound sense of connection washed over me. I felt a weight being lifted from my shoulders, knowing that I wasn't alone in this moment of uncertainty.

And then, as I looked up, I saw him standing there. Ushijima. The person I had called, the one I had hoped would come to my aid. But to my surprise, he wasn't alone. Standing beside him was his mother, the girl I had just shared a heartfelt embrace with.

Confusion swirled in my mind as I tried to make sense of the situation. Why was Ushijima's mother here? How did she know the person I had called? But before I could voice my questions, Ushijima spoke, his voice filled with a mixture of concern and sincerity.

"Y/N, I knew you needed someone to lean on, and my mother insisted on coming with me," he explained gently. "We wanted to offer our support."

The realization washed over me like a wave, filling my heart with gratitude. In my moment of vulnerability, Ushijima and his mother stepped forward, offering their love and care. It was a gesture that touched me deeply, reminding me that I was not alone in this journey.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I found the strength to speak, my voice filled with emotion. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. "Thank you for being here."

Ushijima's mother stepped forward, her presence radiating warmth and compassion. She smiled gently, her eyes filled with understanding. "We're here for you, Y/N," she said softly. "You're not alone, and we'll do everything we can to support you."

As I stood before Ushijima and his mother, I took a deep breath, gathering the strength to share the weight that had been weighing heavily on my heart. I began to explain the situation, the struggles my mother had faced, and the toll it had taken on her health.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I recounted the challenges my mother had encountered, the exhaustion that had overwhelmed her, and the fear that had gripped our family. I spoke of the uncertainty we faced, the daunting decisions that had to be made, and the constant worry that consumed my thoughts.

Ushijima's mother listened attentively, her eyes filled with empathy and understanding. Her presence offered a sense of comfort, a feeling that I was being heard and supported. And Ushijima, standing beside me, provided a silent strength, his unwavering support evident in his presence. As I shared the details, I could feel the weight of my burden being shared, the pain and anxiety dissipating with each word spoken. It was as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, knowing that I no longer carried this struggle alone.

Ushijima's mother reached out and gently placed a hand on mine, offering reassurance and compassion. "Y/N, I understand how difficult this must be for you and your mother," she said softly. "You've shown such strength in taking care of her, but remember that it's important to also take care of yourself."

Her words resonated deeply within me. I realized that in my unwavering dedication to my mother's well-being, I had neglected my own self-care. It was a reminder that I needed to find balance, seek support, and allow others to be there for me in return.

Ushijima spoke up, his voice filled with determination and sincerity. "Y/N, you don't have to face this alone. We're here for you, both my mother and I. Lean on us when you need to, and remember that we care about you."

The weight of their words and their unwavering support overwhelmed me, leaving me feeling both vulnerable and grateful. In that moment, I realized the true power of having people by your side during difficult times, individuals who would listen, understand, and offer their support without judgment.

As we stood there, enveloped in a shared understanding, I felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. The road ahead was still uncertain, but I knew that with Ushijima and his mother standing beside me, I had a support system that would help me navigate the challenges to come.

-

As Ushijima's mother went to check on mine, I found myself alone with Ushijima. There was a gentle calmness in the air, a moment of respite amidst the turmoil that surrounded us. We stood in silence for a moment, the weight of the situation hanging heavy in the room.

I turned to Ushijima, his presence providing a sense of comfort and familiarity. His stoic expression softened slightly, his eyes reflecting a mix of concern and support. I could tell that he was trying to find the right words, wanting to offer solace in this difficult time.

He reached out, his hand gently touching mine, a silent gesture of understanding and compassion. In that simple touch, I felt a surge of warmth and reassurance wash over me. It was as if his touch spoke volumes, conveying the unspoken support and empathy that he held for me.

"I'm here for you, Y/N," Ushijima said softly, his voice steady and calm. "Whatever you need, whatever you're going through, know that I will support you."
Tears welled up in my eyes, the weight of the moment and his words resonating deeply within me. I nodded, unable to find the right words to express my gratitude for his unwavering presence.

We stood there together, our shared silence speaking volumes. I then spoke up a little more, asking him a question.

"After I was mad at you and didn't bother to see you, you still came. Why?"

Looking away, he responded with a more gentle settlement in his voice.

"I care for you. As I said, I don't know what a relationship feels like but that doesn't mean I won't care."

My eyes widened. I didn't realize any of it and how he showed his kind gestures. I always just pushed that aside. I was about to speak up until his mom was near.

Ushijima's mother emerged from the room, her gaze filled with a mix of concern and compassion, she extended an invitation for me to come to their house. Ushijima stood beside her, his silent agreement evident in the slight nod of his head.

Touched by their kindness and generosity, I mustered a grateful smile and accepted their invitation. In that moment, I felt a sense of relief knowing that I had a safe haven, a place where I could find solace and support during this challenging time.

We made our way to their home, a tranquil space that exuded warmth and comfort. Ushijima's mother welcomed me with open arms, creating an atmosphere that felt like a sanctuary from the storm that raged outside.

As I settled into their home, I was enveloped by a sense of belonging. Ushijima's mother made sure I felt at ease, offering comforting words and gestures that reassured me that I was in a safe space. The atmosphere was one of understanding and compassion, allowing me to share my worries and fears without judgment or reservation.

Ushijima, ever the steady presence, stood by my side, offering his silent support. He listened attentively, his unwavering gaze conveying a depth of empathy and understanding that touched my heart. In his presence, I felt a sense of security and reassurance, knowing that I was not by myself.

Wakatoshi walked me to the guest room, his steps sure and steady. As we entered the room, he gestured for me to take a seat on the bed, his voice filled with warmth and kindness.

"Please make yourself comfortable, Y/N," he said, his deep voice resonating in the room. "If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask."

I offered him a small, appreciative smile, feeling a mix of gratitude and relief. "Thank you, Ushijima. Your family's kindness means a lot to me."

He nodded, his expression gentle yet determined. "We're here for you, Y/N. You're part of our family now. Take all the time you need to rest and recover."

His words touched my heart, and I felt a sense of belonging and acceptance wash over me. At that moment, the weight of my worries and struggles seemed to lighten, knowing that I had a support system that would carry me through.

As Ushijima turned to leave the room, I called out to him softly. "Ushijima, thank you for everything. I appreciate it."

He turned back to face me, his gaze steady and reassuring. "It's what we do, Y/N. We take care of each other. Rest well, and know that we're right here if you need anything."

With a nod of understanding, I watched as he left the room, closing the door gently behind him. In the quiet solitude of the guest room, I finally allowed myself to breathe deeply, to let go of the worries that had consumed me.

Surrounded by the warm embrace of Ushijima's family, I found solace and comfort. Their unwavering support provided a sense of security, allowing me to find respite in the sanctuary of their home.

As I settled into the cozy guest room, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. With gratitude in my heart, I closed my eyes, allowing the weight of the day to melt away. In the embrace of Ushijima's family, I knew that I had found a sanctuary, a place where I could heal and find the strength to face whatever the future held.

Chapter 15: *.・+★ 14 || Realization

Chapter Text

I sat up on the futon, stretching my limbs as I woke up from a restful sleep. As I glanced at the nightstand, I noticed a tray with breakfast delicately placed on it. Ushijima had thoughtfully brought it in while I slept.

"Ushijima?" I called out softly, unsure if he was still around. "Good morning."

The door opened, and Ushijima entered with a gentle smile. "Good morning, Y/N. I hope you slept well."

I nodded, returning his smile. "Thank you for breakfast. You didn't have to do this."

He set the tray down on the table and pulled up a chair beside the futon. "It's the least I could do. How are you feeling today?"

"I'm okay," I replied, grateful for his caring demeanor. "Have you heard anything about my mother?"

Ushijima's expression softened with empathy. "The doctors are still running tests and monitoring her closely. They want to make sure they have a clear understanding of her condition before deciding on the next steps."

I nodded, absorbing the information. The uncertainty was still challenging, but I appreciated Ushijima's honesty and willingness to keep me informed.

"We're all hoping for the best," he continued, his voice reassuring. "My mother has connections with some of the best medical professionals in the region, so we're doing everything we can to ensure your mother receives the best care possible."

Tears welled up in my eyes, touched by his and his family's unwavering support. "Thank you, Ushijima. You've all been so kind to me during this difficult time."

He reached out but instantly pulled back, still giving a word or two. "You're welcome."

As Ushijima pulled back from my hands, a wave of uncertainty washed over me. I couldn't help but feel a tinge of disappointment, wondering if he didn't feel the same way about me or if he was simply unable to express his emotions as openly as I could.

The thought gnawed at me, and I found myself struggling to make sense of our relationship. We had shared moments of connection and support, but I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something holding Ushijima back from fully opening up to me.

As we continued to talk, his stoic expression remained unchanged, leaving me with a sense of unease. I wanted to ask him directly about his feelings, to know where we stood, but I hesitated. Part of me was afraid of the answer, afraid that my feelings might not be reciprocated.

In the midst of my internal turmoil, Ushijima's genuine concern and care for my well-being were evident. He was there for me in moments of need, offering unwavering support and a steady presence. Yet, I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to our connection than just friendship.

I tried to brush aside my insecurities, reminding myself that relationships take time to grow and evolve. Maybe Ushijima was just taking things slow, processing his own emotions in his own way.

-

Ushijima's mother came into the room with a warm smile, her presence bringing a sense of comfort. She gently placed a hand on my shoulder and said, "Y/N, why don't you come with me? Let's get some fresh air and take a little break from all the worries."

I looked up at her, grateful for her thoughtfulness. "Thank you, Mrs. Ushijima. That sounds like a good idea."

She nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "Sometimes, stepping outside and taking a moment to breathe can help clear your mind. We can go for a walk in the park or to this nice store, if you like."

I agreed, and together we made our way outside, leaving Ushijima by himself. He wanted to do something different.

The cool breeze brushed against my skin, and the sight of the park's greenery brought a sense of tranquility.

As we walked side by side, Mrs. Ushijima made light conversation, talking about the beauty of nature and how spending time outdoors could be a great way to find inner peace. Her gentle words and calming presence helped ease the tension that had been building up inside me.

In the midst of the walk, she turned to me and said, "Y/N, I can see how much you care for my son. Ushijima may not show his emotions as openly as some, but I assure you, he cares deeply for you too."

Surprised by her words, I looked at her with a mix of hope and curiosity. "You really think so?"

She smiled warmly. "I do. Ushijima has always been someone who expresses himself through actions rather than words. He may not say it outright, but his actions speak volumes. He's always been there for you, supporting you in his own way."

Her words touched my heart, and I felt a sense of reassurance wash over me. Perhaps Ushijima's reserved nature didn't mean that he didn't care for me. Maybe, as his mother said, he expressed his feelings differently.

As we continued our walk, Mrs. Ushijima shared stories about her son, giving me insight into his personality and his past. It helped me understand him better, and I began to see that our connection ran deeper than I had initially realized.

I pointed to the store, and so we went in. It was small and aesthetic which made me think it'll be good.
-

As Ushijima's mother and I strolled through the store, I appreciated her kindness and willingness to spend time with me. She suggested getting something for myself, but I politely declined, feeling that it was better to buy things on my own.

Among the various items on display, I noticed a cute and small stuffed frog. It reminded me of Ushijima, and even though I wasn't sure if it was his favorite animal, something about it felt right. It was adorable, and I thought he might appreciate the gesture.

With a smile, I picked up the frog and showed it to Mrs. Ushijima. "I think I'll get this" I said, not saying who it was for.

She looked at the stuffed frog and smiled warmly. "Its cute, its a great pick."

Feeling reassured by her words, I decided to purchase the frog, hoping that it would be a meaningful little gift for Ushijima. As we continued shopping, I found a few other items that caught my eye, and Mrs. Ushijima insisted on getting them for me as a way of showing her appreciation.

I saw some flowers as well, hoping to give them to my mom. I hoped she'll like them when she woke up, for gardening was something she loved.

-

As we entered the hospital room, I gently placed the bouquet of flowers on the bedside table, hoping they would bring a little bit of cheer to my mom during her recovery. She was still asleep, and I could see the worry on Ushijima's mother's face as she observed us through the window.

I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to say. "Mom, I'm here with Ushijima's mother. She came to see you and brought these flowers for you."

There was no response from my mom, and I felt a pang of sadness. It was hard to see her like this, lying unconscious in the hospital bed.

Ushijima's mother stepped closer, her gaze filled with compassion. "Y/N, your mom is in good hands here. The doctors are doing everything they can to help her recover."

I nodded, grateful for her comforting words. "Thank you, Mrs. Ushijima. It means a lot to have your support during this difficult time."

She smiled kindly. "You're like family to us, Y/N. We'll do whatever we can to help and support you."

I looked back at my mom, feeling a mixture of emotions. I wished I could have a proper conversation with her, to tell her about everything that had been happening and to hear her voice again. But for now, all I could do was be there for her, just like Ushijima and his family were there for me.

As we stood there together, I felt a sense of unity and strength. Ushijima's mother's presence was a source of comfort.

After a while, we decided to step out of the room, allowing my mom to rest in peace. We walked down the hospital corridor, and Ushijima's mother placed a supportive hand on my shoulder.

"Y/N, if you ever need someone to talk to or need any help, don't hesitate to reach out to us," she said with genuine concern.

I nodded, feeling grateful for her offer. "Thank you. I really appreciate your kindness."

She smiled warmly. "Don't worry about it."

Her words touched my heart, and I knew that Ushijima's family had truly embraced me as one of their own. I felt blessed to have such caring and supportive people in my life during this challenging time.

As we walked back there house, I felt a sense of peace knowing that I had a strong support system to lean on. Even in the face of uncertainty, I knew that with the Ushijima family by my side, I could find the strength to face whatever challenges life threw my way. And for that, I was incredibly grateful.

-

As we entered Ushijima's house, I couldn't help but notice the warm and inviting atmosphere. It was a cozy place, filled with a sense of comfort that immediately put me at ease. Ushijima's mother led the way to the dining area where Ushijima was already setting up dinner on the table.

He looked up as we approached, a small smile forming on his lips. "Welcome home," he said in his usual calm and composed manner.

"Thank you, Ushijima," I replied, feeling a sense of gratitude for being welcomed into their home.

His mother gestured for me to take a seat, and I obliged, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. It wasn't every day that I got to have dinner with Ushijima's family, and I wanted to make a good impression.

As we sat down, Ushijima served the food with grace and precision. It was evident that he took pride in taking care of his family, and it made me appreciate him even more. He was not only a skilled volleyball player but also a responsible and caring person.

The conversation flowed easily during dinner, with Harumi asking about my interests and how I was coping with everything going on. Ushijima, though reserved as always, listened attentively, and I felt a sense of comfort in his presence.

As the meal came to an end, I offered to help with the dishes, but both Ushijima and his mother insisted that I should just relax and take it easy. I appreciated their hospitality and the feeling of being treated like family.

After, me and Ushijima went outside to walk not far but close just for fresh air.

As we walked, the evening air was cool and refreshing. I tried to strike up a conversation with Ushijima, but as usual, he responded with just a few words. It was challenging to get him to open up, but I appreciated the moments of silence and the comfort of his presence.

I clutched the small gift bag in my hand, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. I wanted to give Ushijima the stuffed frog as a token of my gratitude and affection, but I wasn't sure how he would react. Would he appreciate the gesture? Or would he find it odd or unnecessary?

Taking a deep breath, I finally mustered the courage to speak. "Ushijima, I have something for you," I said, my voice slightly shaky.

He turned to look at me, his eyes curious as he nodded in acknowledgment.

With a small smile, I handed him the gift bag, trying to hide my nervousness. "I saw this and thought of you. I hope you like it."

He took the bag and opened it, revealing the stuffed frog inside. For a moment, he looked at it, and I couldn't read his expression. But then, to my surprise, a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"It's a frog," I said, trying to fill the silence. "It reminded me of you, for your hair color and how you always have that same expression on your face."

He looked at me, his eyes softening. "Thank you, Y/N. I like it."

I couldn't help but feel a rush of relief and happiness. He may not have said much, but his reaction spoke volumes. It meant a lot to me that he appreciated the gift and that it brought a smile to his face.

But soon, he stopped his body, looking at the dark gloomy sky.

"Y/N."

My heart raced. Why did he call my name out? He looked at me with small glints in his eyes and something in his hand.

Chapter 16: *.・+★ 15 || Confrontation

Chapter Text

My heart skipped a beat as Ushijima spoke to the sky, his words directed at me. He was sharing his feelings, something I never expected from him. He told me how he didn't like to see me sad and how he regretted the things he said that made me run away. It was a side of him I had never seen before, and I felt a mix of surprise and gratitude for his honesty.

Turning to face me, he held out the small box in his hand. I could see the sincerity in his eyes, and my curiosity grew. What could be inside the box?

"Y/N," he began, his voice softer than usual, "I want you to know that I care about you, and I'm sorry for the things I said that hurt you."

His words touched my heart, and I felt a lump in my throat. "Ushijima, it's okay," I replied, trying to keep my emotions in check.

He shook his head slightly, his grip on the box tightening. "No, it's not okay. I don't want to see you sad because of me or anything that's not happy because of me."

With a deep breath, he handed me the box, and I carefully opened it. Inside, I found two rings. It seemed as if they were promise rings. It was simple yet elegant, and I couldn't help but be touched by the thoughtful gesture.

"It's a symbol of our friendship," Ushijima explained. "Just like the stuffed frog you gave me, I want this necklace to remind you that you're important to me and that I'll always be here for you."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at him, feeling the weight of his words and the significance of the gift. In that moment, I realized just how much our friendship meant to both of us, and how much we had come to rely on and support each other.

"Thank you, Ushijima," I whispered, my voice filled with emotion. "This means a lot to me."

He nodded, a small smile gracing his lips. "You're welcome, Y/N. I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

As we stood there, the sky painted with hues of orange and pink, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the friendship we had. Ushijima may not have been the most expressive person, but his actions and his heartfelt words spoke volumes.

"And Y/N."

As Ushijima called out my name, my heart skipped a beat once again, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. He wanted to change something, and the thought of it potentially being about his feelings for me sent my mind racing.

"I want to change the way we address each other," he said, his voice steady but with a hint of hesitation. "I know we agreed to be friends, but... I want to consider something like before."

My mind raced with thoughts and possibilities. Was he suggesting that he wanted to go back to the way things were before and what I suggested when we were more than friends? Could he possibly be changing his feelings about me?

Trying to keep my emotions in check, I asked, "What do you mean, Ushijima?"

He took a deep breath, his eyes locked with mine. "I want to be something more."

My heart pounded in my chest as I processed his words. He wanted to call me something more personal, something that showed our connection went beyond mere friendship. It was a significant step, and I couldn't help but wonder if he was hinting at something deeper.

"A couple?" I asked, trying to gauge his intentions.

He hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, "Y/N, I want to date you. I hate the idea cause of what happened to my family, but that's not going to affect us."

My cheeks flushed with a mix of surprise and delight. "Wow.." I said, this felt warm and comforting, and it made my heart flutter.

"I know it's just a small change," he continued, "but I want you to know that you're special to me, and I want to show it in the way I can."

His words touched my heart, and I felt a rush of emotions. Ushijima may not have been the most expressive person, but his actions and words spoke louder than anything else. He was taking a step to show me how much I meant to him, and I couldn't help but be deeply moved.

"I'll accept," I said softly, a smile spreading across my face. "This is what I wanted in the first place."

He smiled back, his expression softening. "Alright."

I gasped as Ushijima walked up to me, holding my hands with a small, rare smile on his face. His genuine expression made my heart skip a beat, and I couldn't help but laugh at how cute he looked.

"What's gotten into you, Ushijima?" I teased, my cheeks turning pink.

He took the box he gave me and used the rings in good use.

With a gentle smile, he took the ring and slid it onto my finger, and I did the same to him. The simple gesture felt incredibly meaningful, and I knew that this was a moment I would treasure forever.

As I looked into his eyes, he cupped my face in his hands, his touch sending shivers down my spine. My breath caught in my throat as he leaned in, and before I knew it, his lips were on mine. It was a tender and sweet kiss, filled with the warmth of our affection for each other.

In that intimate moment, a shooting star streaked across the sky above us, as if the universe itself was blessing our connection. It felt like a magical moment as if the stars were aligning just for us.

As we pulled back from the kiss, our eyes locked, and a feeling of contentment washed over me. I had found something special with Ushijima, something that went beyond friendship or a simple promise.

"I like you a lot." Ushijima whispered, his voice barely audible over the soft breeze.

"Same Ushijima, but more," I replied, my heart full of love for him.

We stood there for a moment, enjoying each other's presence and the magical atmosphere around us. The promise ring on my finger was a constant reminder of our commitment to each other, and I knew that our bond would only continue to grow stronger with time.

As we walked back together, hand in hand, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected journey that had brought us together. Ushijima may not have been the most expressive person, but his actions spoke louder than words, and I knew that he was someone I could always rely on and trust.
From that moment on, our relationship blossomed, and we navigated the ups and downs of life together, supporting and cherishing each other every step of the way. Our connection was something unique and precious, like a shooting star in the night sky, and I was grateful for every moment we shared together.

Ushijima's mother chuckled as she saw us holding hands while we walked inside, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, well, look at you two," she teased, a playful smile on her lips. "I never thought I'd see the day when my son would be holding hands with someone."

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but Ushijima simply nodded in acknowledgment, a small smile on his face. It was evident that his mother's teasing didn't bother him, and that gave me some reassurance.

The rest of the night was indeed different. There was a newfound sense of ease and comfort between us as if a weight had been lifted off our shoulders. Ushijima and I laughed and chatted with his mother, and it felt like we were becoming more like a family.

As the evening went on, we shared comfort and words, creating a deeper bond between us. Ushijima's mother seemed genuinely happy to see her son so content, and I could tell that she approved of our relationship.

Throughout the night, Ushijima's hand stayed firmly in mine, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness and security. It was a simple gesture, but it spoke volumes about his feelings for me.

But I thought and knew, graduation was coming up and things might be different, but would he let that happen?

Chapter 17: *.・+★ 16 (END) || Graduation

Chapter Text

As two months passed, I was relieved and grateful that my mother had gotten better over the past two months. Her improved health was a weight off my shoulders, and I knew she was making an effort to take care of herself because she cared about me.

Ushijima and I continued to grow closer during that time, and we finally decided to officially announce that we were together at school. While Ushijima wasn't the most outwardly affectionate person, he showed his feelings in his own subtle ways, and I cherished each one of them.

Our friends from different circles began to hang out more frequently, and it felt like we had formed a tight-knit group. The camaraderie between all of us made the final days of high school even more special.

Graduation day was just around the corner, and it was bittersweet. We were excited about what the future held, but at the same time, we knew that we would be going our separate ways soon.As we sat together during the graduation ceremony, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions.

On one hand, I was proud of everything we had achieved and the memories we had created together. On the other hand, I was sad to say goodbye to the familiar faces and the place that had become our second home.

After the ceremony, we gathered outside with our friends, taking countless photos and making promises to stay in touch. It was both a joyous and emotional moment, as we knew that life was about to change dramatically.

That evening, we had a small celebration at Ushijima's house with our closest friends. We laughed, reminisced about our high school days, and made plans for the future. It was a fitting farewell to a chapter of our lives that had meant so much to all of us.

As the night came to an end, I found myself holding Ushijima's hand, grateful for the journey we had shared together. The future was uncertain, but I knew that the bond we had formed was strong, and I was hopeful for what lay ahead.

Graduation day arrived, and as I stood on the stage, accepting my diploma, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. I knew that this was just the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, and I was eager to see where it would take us.

As we said our final goodbyes and parted ways, I knew that the memories and friendships we had made in high school would always hold a special place in my heart. And as I looked back on everything that had happened, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected journey that had led me to Ushijima and the wonderful friends I had made along the way.

-

As Ayumi cried in my arms, I held her close, trying to offer comfort and reassurance. We had become such close friends over the years, and it was heartbreaking to see her leave after the summer. I whispered to her that no matter the distance, we would always stay in touch and that our friendship was forever.

Hiroki's plans to play professionally were exciting, and I knew he had the talent and determination to succeed. We cheered him on and promised to support him every step of the way.
As Ushijima and Tendou approached us, I noticed Ushijima using Tendou as a distraction to speak with me alone. Tendou, always playful and mischievous, went along with it, grinning mischievously.

"Hey, Ayumi, Hiroki, why don't you guys go ahead and get some ice cream? I want to talk to Y/N for a bit," Ushijima said, his tone firm but gentle.

Ayumi and Hiroki exchanged curious glances but ultimately agreed, giving us a knowing smile as they walked away. Once we were alone, Ushijima turned to me, his expression a mix of seriousness and vulnerability.
"I've been thinking a lot about our future," he began, his words carefully chosen. "We're both going to be heading in different directions after this summer, and I want to be sure that we're on the same page."

I nodded, feeling my heart race. I knew this conversation was important, and I appreciated his honesty.

"I want to be with you," he continued, his gaze unwavering. "But I know the offer for the big league will make that hard now."

My heart swelled with love and admiration for him. I reached for his hand, squeezing it gently."I know, Ushijima but its fine, it'll work out" I replied, a soft smile on my lips. "And I feel the same way. I want to be with you too all the time everyday."

Relief washed over his face, and he pulled me into a warm embrace. At that moment, I knew that we were both committed to making our relationship work, despite the challenges that lay ahead.

As we released our hug, the volleyball coach approached me with some news. He smiled warmly and congratulated me on earning a spot to study sports at the same college as Ushijima. It was a dream come true, and I couldn't believe that we would be continuing our journey together.
Ushijima's stoic expression softened into a genuine smile as he heard the news. He placed a hand on my shoulder, his touch reassuring and comforting.

"That's great news, Y/N. I'm glad we'll be attending the same college so now we won't be apart," he said, his voice steady but his eyes sparkling with happiness.

I nodded, feeling a rush of emotions. It was a moment I had never imagined would come true, and I was grateful for the opportunity to continue pursuing my passion for sports while being with Ushijima.

-

As Ushijima went to meet up with our friends, I turned to Semi, who looked a bit serious. I could sense there was something on his mind, and I wanted to hear what he had to say.

"Hey, Y/N," Semi began, looking a bit hesitant. "I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Sure, what's on your mind?" I asked, giving him my full attention.

He took a deep breath before continuing. "I've been thinking a lot lately, and I realized that I still have feelings for you. I know it's probably too late, considering you're with Ushijima now, but I just wanted you to know."

I was taken aback by his confession, and I could see the sincerity in his eyes. My heart ached for him, knowing that he had held these feelings for so long.

"Semi, I really appreciate your honesty," I said gently, trying to find the right words. "You're an amazing person, and I'm grateful for the time we spent together as friends. But my heart belongs to Ushijima now, and I hope you can understand that."

He nodded, a hint of sadness in his expression. "Yeah, I understand. It's just hard, you know? But I don't want to come between you and Ushijima. He's a good guy, and you both look happy together."

I placed a hand on his shoulder, offering him comfort. "Thank you, Semi. You're a good friend, and I hope we can still be friends even after this."

He managed a small smile. "Of course, Y/N. Friends, always."

With that, we rejoined the group, and the rest of the day was filled with laughter and celebration. Graduation was a bittersweet moment, but I was surrounded by friends who had become like family to me.

As the years passed, Ushijima and I continued to navigate life together. We faced ups and downs, but our love and commitment to each other never wavered. We celebrated each other's successes and supported each other through challenges, and I was grateful for the unwavering presence of Ushijima in my life.

Semi remained a dear friend, and though our paths diverged after college, we always kept in touch. Our friendship was a testament to the enduring bonds we had formed during our high school days.

Ayumi and Hiroki went their ways, Ayumi worked as a fashion designer with a male named Asahi Azumane for they were partners in work and Hiroki went to the big league at a different school.

Tendou on the other hand followed his path to chocolate which he would always argue about how we liked different things.

Looking back on our journey, I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful love story. It was a tale of friendship, growth, and love that brought me to where I was today. And with Ushijima by my side, I knew that the future held even more extraordinary adventures and moments of happiness.
