Chapter 1: The First Day Back

Chapter Text

It was the start of summer school, Tabby and Imogen go in together and finally meet up with everyone else. Imogen sighs worriedly, “Do you guys think this is over? Are we really done with all of this? I am having nightmares every night and I don’t think I can handle anything else.” Tabby looks at Imogen with comfort and puts her hand on Imogen’s shoulder, “It’s going to be okay, Imogen. Take a deep breath, alright? We are all here for you and we’re safe. A is gone.” Imogen breaths in deeply and her worriedness soothes, Imogen embraces Tabby and smiles softly
Faran looks over, “As much as I want it to be over, I’m still afraid it isn’t. That fear is never going away and we should be as cautious as possible.” Mouse nodded agreeing, the bell had rung and the group went to their classes. Tabby and Imogen went to Science, Noa, and Faran went to Math and then Mouse went to Computer Class
Imogen and Tabby get into class and sat next to each other. Imogen had found herself looking at Tabby most of the class and wasn’t able to focus on what was going on. Whenever Tabby started to look over, Imogen hurriedly looked away and pretended to do her work. Tabby tilted her head and tapped Imogen, “Hey, are you okay? You keep dozing off and you’re kinda going full jawbreaker.” Imogen looks at her blankly but was still slightly amused by the joke but she didn’t want to show that. “Too soon?” Tabby asked seriously, Imogen shook her head and chuckled, “I just didn’t want to humor that bad joke..” Tabby pushes her playfully, “Hey! That was a great joke and you know it.” As Tabby looks away, Imogen blushes deeply and smiles
Noa was falling asleep in the back of the class as Miss Shepard kept going on and on. The class was so dull that even Faran wasn’t able to keep up. “Do you think it isn’t over?” Faran looked over, “I mean... It can’t be. It was too easy, there is so much more we haven’t even figured out yet.” Noa frowned, “You’re right but this time we’ll be ready and we’ll kill that motherfucker.” Noa said a little loudly, the teacher heard what Noa said, “Noa Olivar. You need to watch your language in my class or I will fail you on the spot. First and final warning.” Noa rolled her eyes but agreed and said, “Yes, ma’am. It won’t happen again.”
Mouse walked into class and saw Ash and quickly walked over to him and kissed him from behind, “Thank god you’re here. I thought I was going to be alone.” Ash turned around and kissed her back, smiling. “I always have a habit of appearing when I’m needed. I’m just that special.” Ash said with a smug smile, Mouse played with his hair and stared at him for a bit before laying her head on his chest. Ash massaged her head as she lay on him, “Are you okay?” Mouse lifted her head, “I’m just tired, so tired. I can’t deal with all of this. I know we’re safe now but it won’t last, it never does. I wanted to have one good year after the shit that happened with my mom and all this hell breaks loose. I just can’t catch a break” Ash rubbed her cheek and looked into her eyes, “Babe, it is going to be okay. I can’t say it's going to get better overnight but it is going to get better. Just know I am going to be here through it all, I will keep you safe no matter the cost. I love you and I won’t let anyone hurt you.” Mouse smiled with reassurance and hugged him tightly

Chapter 2: A Start Of A Betrayal

Chapter Text

It had been a week since summer school started and so far nothing has happened. Tabby walks up to her locker and opens it, a letter fell from the locker landing at her feet. She looked down and hesitantly picked it up, the letter was waxed close with the letter A. Tabby opened the letter and it read,
“Tell no one about this. If you say ANYTHING, I’ll know. The consequences of telling your little friends our secret is simple. They die. You don’t want blood on your hands, do you? Now, what I want you to do is go to the locker room and burn this letter, just remember, I’ll be watching. -A” Tabby started freaking out and ran straight to the locker room, a lighter was laid out on one of the benches. She took the lighter and burned the letter over the trashcan, once it fully burned she started hyperventilating and ran into one of the showers and sat down, holding her head.
“Fuck fuck fuck, this can’t be happening. I- can’t just not tell anyone, I mean they can’t possibly be watching me at all times. I have to tell Imogen… but what if that kills her. FUCK!” Imogen messages Tabby,
“Hey where ru? Class is starting soon and im lonely.” Tabby picks herself up and takes a deep breath and starts walking to class, she texts Imogen back,
“im omw now. sry had to use the bathroom <3”
It was later in the day, Imogen and Tabby just got home and Tabby looked visibly distraught and was silent the whole way home. This was unusual for Tabby because she is always so talkative and positive but now she just seemed empty and scared. Once they got in the door, Imogen put her hand on Tabby’s shoulder causing her to jump back and pull away from Imogen. Imogen looked worried,
“Tab? What is it? Why are you being so jumpy, d-did something happen?” Tabby nervously laughed and twirled her hair,
“I’m just a little on edge, that’s all! I am not used to taking classes again. I wasn’t expecting it to be so much. I promise I’m okay, I’m just tired.” Imogen was weary but she took Tabby’s word for it, Imogen walked up to Tabby and hugged her tightly,
“If anything is wrong, please let me know. Trust me, I know better than anyone it’s not good to keep your emotions in. How about we go get pizza? I’ll text the group and ask if they wanna tag along.” Tabby smiled, feeling better about the situation,
“Actually- do you think just us could go?” Imogen was thrown back from the question and quickly turned the other way, twiddling her fingers,
“I uh- yeah! I am okay with that, sounds like a date” Of course Imogen said this jokingly but Tabby blushed once hearing it
Imogen and Tabby were at Pinball Pizza. Imogen was a nervous wreck, it was getting harder to hide how she was feeling about Tabby. They order their usual pizza, Tabby starts twirling her hair again, debating on whether she should tell Imogen or not. She knows it wouldn’t be a good idea for her to do it in a public place, so she decided as soon as they both get home, she would tell her. Right now though, she would enjoy this “date” with her best friend. The pizza got to the table and Imogen took a slice but it was still hot so she dropped it onto her plate and shook her hand in pain
“Damnit, that hurt. I need to stop impulsively grabbing hot food.” Tabby laughed and handed her a napkin,
“Here, clean your hand off. I wouldn’t want you to die to a piece of pizza.” Imogen scoffed lightheartedly and grabbed the napkin, cleaning off her hand. Tabby started eating and Imogen did too but as they ate, both their phones went off. Their facial expressions went blank, they slowly put down their slices and both looked at each other, grabbing their phones.
“Enjoying your pizza, girls? Don’t get too hurt or I’ll have no one to play with! Anywaaays.. I can’t wait to play a new game. -A”
After the initial message, A messaged just Tabby, “Just remember, if you tell anyone, I. Will. Kill. Them. Go to the locker room tomorrow, I have a surprise just for you :) -A”
The night was ruined after that, both Tabby and Imogen got up without saying a word, left the money on the table, and went home.

Chapter 3: How Do You Say Goodbye?

Chapter Text

All the girls meet up in the bathroom and exchange glances.
“I didn’t want to be right. Did we all get a message last night?” Everyone nodded in agreeance,
“Me and Imogen were at Pinball and they must have been somewhere nearby because they knew exactly what we were doing.”
The whole group was panicked and didn’t know what to do or how to feel, Mouse started panting heavily and wasn’t able to breathe, she fell backward and hit her head on the sink. Everyone quickly swarmed around her to see if she was okay but she was bleeding a lot, Faran began holding her head, trying to stop the blood as best as she could. Imogen ran out of the bathroom to get Nurse Simmons and she called an ambulance and was brought to the hospital.
A few hours had passed but Mouse still hasn’t woken up, Ash was there the whole time, just holding her hand. He didn’t move for anything. The rest of the group was still at school, Tabby asked the teacher to be excused. She got up and walked to the locker room and there was a box waiting for her on a bench. Tabby opened the box and found photos of her sleeping and with it was a note,
“I just want to prove that you don’t know who you’re messing with. If you don’t want your friends to get hurt, you are going to do me some favors. First things first, I need you to steal a file from the principal, I would do it myself but where is the fun in that when I can have you do it for me? I need you to get the student records of “Shawn Noble”. Do that and bring the files back here” Tabby reluctantly started heading toward the front office, she entered and looked to see if anyone was around,
“I don’t know if I should be doing this, Noa is going to kill me if she ever finds out that I stole Shawn’s records,” Tabby thought to herself. The office seemed to be unoccupied so Tabby took this as an opportunity to snoop around. She walked to the abandoned principal's office. She placed a shaky hand on the door knob and surprisingly the door was unlocked. She opened the door and was greeted by the smell of mold and decay and there lay her mom with her mom’s decomposing body, her head was severed from her body and an A was carved on her chest. Before Tabby could even have time to react, her phone dinged,
“Did ya like my surprise? The reaction on your face makes it all so worth it. Don’t think this changes our deal, if anything this just shows how capable I am. Xoxo <3 -A” Tabby fell to her knees, profusely sobbing, letting out an ear-piercing scream
“What the hell-” the assistant principal Mrs.Weems was stopped at the sight.
----------
The police were called to the school and all classes were dismissed early. Imogen and Tabby were sitting on Tabby’s living room couch.
“Here you go Tab… I’m so sorry for your loss,” Faran said,
giving Tabby a cup of tea. She gave her a soft comforting smile. Tabby mouthed a thank you and took a sip from the cup.
“This is so fucked up. Who would do such a thing?” Noa said, She had her fist balled up as if she wanted to punch the nearest wall.
“You know who could have done it… we all do.” Imogen chimed in. Everyone in the room froze up and the tension became thick. No one wanted Imogen to be right in these moments but she was, unfortunately. Mouse was practically trembling in the chair she was sitting at.
“Why would Archie kill my mom though…?” Tabby mumbled.
“I thought we stopped the whole Angela Waters thing,” Noa said
Imogen wrapped her arm around Tabby and pulled her close. She wiped away her tears as she mourned the loss of her mother. Imogen felt the same gut feeling she had when her mother had passed. It was all too familiar, but she had to stay strong for Tabby. She didn't want to overshadow her grief.
“Tabby if you want I can stay here with you for as long as you need,” Imogen said
“Thank you Imogen” Tabby sniffled.
“We’re gonna be here for you no matter what” Mouse pitched in
“We love you so much and we'll get this son of a bitch.” Noa said placing a hand on Tabby's knee.
“Till the end” Faran nodded.
“We're the loser club” Tabby joked as she smiled for a short moment with everyone smiling along with her

Chapter 4: Misery Loves Company

Summary:

FIller Chapter!

Chapter Text

The death of Sidney Haworthe left everyone feeling empty. the ‘losers club’ were all gathered at Tabby's house. Mouse, Noa, Faran, and Imogen had decided to spend the night so Tabby didn’t feel alone during this hard time in her life. They were all currently waking up and getting ready for the day.
Tabby had woken up in Imogen's embrace. It was a good thing she felt safer in her friend's arms rather than her cold sheets. She stirred a little and yawned.
“Finally you’re awake,” Imogen said
“How long was I asleep for?” Tabby asked rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Not too long.. I just really needed to go to the restroom” Imogen giggled
“Oh I’m so sorry,” Tabby said abruptly sitting up on the couch that they had fallen asleep on.
“No no, you’re fine I should have gone before I went to sleep, it's nothing to be sorry about!” Imogen reassured Tabby. She placed her hands on her friend's shoulders and slid them down to her elbows lightly squeezing her forearms to calm her down.
“Next time wake me up, okay?” Tabby breathed.
Imogen nodded and got off the couch and made her way to the restroom.
Tabby sunk back into the couch and let her thoughts take over. She couldn’t understand why A had killed her mother, she thought of all the things she could have done to stop it from happening. She thought of giving her life up to bring her mother back even. She knew every outcome with end with her mom dying but it never hurt to imagine.
Imogen entered the room and sat back down next to Tabby.
“Imogen… do you think things will ever go back to normal for us?” Tabby asked looking over at her friend with teary eyes
“I hope so Tabby. I really do” Imogen said, placing a hand on Tabby's leg to comfort her.
“Why don’t you guys kiss already,” Mouse said coming from downstairs yawning.
“Haha, how long were you standing there for?” Imogen asked.
Tabby’s face lit up when she saw her friend Mouse.
“I just woke up” Mouse smiled warmly
“How’s your head?” Imogen asked curiously, diverting the topic.
“It still hurts a little but not as much as when it happened” Mouse explained rubbing the back of her head and squinting her eyes in pain.
“You should take some medicine” Tabby recommended sitting up in her seat.
“Yeah I plan on it,” Mouse said.
Tabby stretched out her limbs and let out a huff.
There was shuffling that was heard in the house causing the girls to jump. Their heads all snapped in that direction.
“Hello?...” Imogen called out
“Shhh, have you not listened to any of my horror movie infodumps… number one rule. Don't talk to the killer.” Tabby scolded her friend.
Imogen rolled her eyes lightheartedly and got off the couch she walked towards the noise while Mouse made her way down the stairs and to the couch with Tabby quietly. Imogen made her way to the kitchen and was met by Faran. Imogen gasped loudly causing Faran to jump as well
“What is wrong with you?” Faran gasped.
“What is wrong with ‘you’” Imogen asked
“I was just coming in from physical therapy. You all left the door unlocked last night, so I invited myself in” Faran said.
“Well, next time call or text or say something. Tabby's mom has a gun around her somewhere and she showed us how to use it” Imogen explained
Faran nodded her head and walked into the living area with Imogen. Faran gave Tabby a tight hug before sitting down on one of the cushions.
“So it was just Faran huh?’ mouse let out a sigh of relief. She looked around for a second and then asked
“Where’s Noa?”
“She’s at Pinball Pizza, she started picking up shifts for her mom to help pay bills” Faran answered
“When does she get off? Do you know?” Tabby asked
“I'm not sure but she's been there since 7:30 and it's 11 so she should be coming over here soon,” Faran said.
The girls nodded
“Guys, can we have a normal fun day today? I just want to leave this reality for a little. Is that okay?” Tabby asked looking at her friends with teary eyes
“Of course Tabby we can stay,” Faran said.
“Id have to ask my moms,” Mouse said
Imogen and Faran darted their eyes toward Mouse. Mouse felt the vibe and swallowed
“A-actually they shouldn't mind” Mouse smiled. Imogen and Faran softly nodded toward the younger girl.
“And I can stay for as long as you want tabs” Imogen chimed in placing a hand on Tabby’s hand.
Tabby was thankful that her friends could stay with her. It helped her cope with the loss of her mom.
“I'm gonna go make some lunch with Mouse.”
“But I didn't-”
“Mouse, come on” Faran cut her off.
Mouse rolled her eyes playfully and got up. She followed Faran into the kitchen and they started to whip something up for everyone to eat.
Meanwhile, Tabby and Imogen continued their conversation
“We should go get dressed” Imogen smiled
“We should” Tabby stretched her arm over her head
Imogen got up and Tabby followed behind her they went upstairs into Tabby's room. Tabby walked over to her bed and sat down, Imogen sat with her and placed her hand on Tabby’s thigh
Tabby began to blush and looked over at Imogen and chuckled slightly, “I can’t believe Mouse said we should kiss.” Tabby said awkwardly
“It’s surprising?” Imogen said with a sad look on her face, frowning
Tabby started panicking and put her hands on Imogen’s face, “No no, not like that! I uh- shit.” Not knowing what to do, Tabby kissed Imogen and panicked. Imogen’s face turned bright red and leaned into the kiss, holding Tabby by her hips
Imogen pulled away and smiled brightly, looking into Tabby’s eyes, “Sooo surprising, huh?” Tabby nervously laughed and started biting at her nails, “Haha y-yeah…”
Imogen took Tabby’s hands and held them, “You’ve got to stop biting your nails, it’s not a good habit.” Imogen said concerned
Tabby nodded, “I will try for you.” Both girls embraced each other tightly.
Imogen went into the bathroom to change and while she was in the bathroom, Tabby’s phone lit up with a notification from A, “Time for you to help me out some. Great memorial, by the way, sucks that it had to be a closed casket. -A”

Chapter 5: Two Slow Dancers

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

The moonlight was shining just right on the auditorium. Farren and Kelly had been doing an overnight practice after school for the upcoming Romeo and Juliet performance, and Faran had been messing up all night long.
"Ugh I'm never gonna get this" Faran sighed defeatedly
"Yes, you will" Kelly reassured her putting her hand on Faran’s shoulders.
"Your the best dancer on this team don't overthink it, it’s just dance," Kelly said grasping Faraens hands in her own. She looked into Faran’s eyes and smiled
"Thanks, Kelly" Faran smiled back holding onto
Kelly's hands. The two decided to go over the routine again this time there were no mess-ups everything went as planned.
“See… I told you we could do it” Kelly smiled.
Faran couldn't stop thinking about Kelly throughout physical therapy and remembered the first moment the two had together, or at least she thought it was a moment. Deep down, she knew it was nothing more than that. Kelly was still with Greg and as much as she wanted to see where things could go with Kelly, Faran didn't want to be the kind of person to break up a relationship.
Kelly texted Faran saying, “Im outside if ur done with class.”
Faran looked down at her phone, smiling as the text popped up. As she went to gather her things, her phone dung, she thought it was Kelly again. As she unlocked her phone, an image appeared of “the moment” she had with Kelly,
“You can't run away from your past and you certainly can’t hide it forever -A”
Faran’s heart dropped and she quickly grabbed her things and ran outside, getting into Kelly’s car and looking down, trying to hide her facial expression. Kelly noticed Faran being “weird” and looked at her concerned,
“Faran, what’s up? You looked freaked.” Faran took a deep breath and looked at Kelly,
“Physical therapy was just hard today and it took a lot out of me and I’m just in a lot of pain is all.” Kelly smiled and started driving,
“I am glad you were able to get through it, I told you that you could do it.” Faran smiled and sighed with relief.
“Hey, Kelly. Could you drop me off at the pizza place instead? I have something to talk about with Noa.” Kelly nodded her head, smiling,
“Of course! That shouldn’t be a problem at all.”
They both arrive at the pizza place, Faran got out and waves to Kelly as she drove off. She went inside and walked up to Noa,
“911. Meet me in the bathroom, please.”
Noa gave Faran a concerned look, Faran quickly went to the bathroom and Noa followed behind.
“What’s up?” Noa asked. Faran took a deep breath,
“I like Kelly and A knows about it and he threatened me, saying he’d tell her and I started freaking out during physical therapy. The car ride was so awkward, I felt so uncomfortable.”
Noa put her hand on Faran’s shoulder, comforting her, “Hey hey hey, so what if A tells her? If she’s really your friend, that wouldn’t matter, right? A just wants to scare you and ruin whatever you have with her. Don’t let him do that to you, you’re better than him.”
Faran smiled and let out a big breath, laughing a little from being stressed, “You’re right, Noa. Thank you, that helped. I need this A shit to be over though.” Noa nodded in agreeance
“How much longer is your shift?” Faran asked, Noa looked down at her phone to check the time, “Uhhhh? Fifteen minutes? I should probably get back out there before I get in trouble.” Noa quickly left the bathroom and got back to her shift
Faran’s phone lit up with a notification, she thought it was going to be A but it was just Kelly saying,
“I had fun tdy girl. We should hang out again xoxo” Faran smiled wide and hugged her phone in excitement.
Faren walked out of the restroom and walked towards the exit of the restaurant she caught Noa's eye and she nodded her goodbye. Noa waved her down and signed ‘talk to you later’ while writing down a customer's order. Faran walked out the door and texted her mom to pick her up.
Faran took this as an opportunity to shoot Tabby a text
‘how are you feeling?’ she texted
‘I've had better days but Imogen is here and she's watching Friday the 13th with me!’
‘That's good’ Faran ended the conversation there so that she wasn't interrupting.
Faran’s mom soon pulled up in her car. She honked the horn so Faran knew she was there.
“How was your physical therapy?” Her mom asked as Faran sat in the passenger seat of the car.
“It was physical therapy” Faran rolled her eyes. She huffed and sat her bag in her lap and clicked her seatbelt.
“Faran I’m not your enemy. I’m your mom, this whole rebellion thing needs to stop”
“Mom I’m not rebelling I’m just making a point here”
“And your point is?”
“My point is that I don’t want or need to forgive you right now and you should respect how I feel right now.” Corey huffed and looked away, making the situation about her again
“Faran, I’ve apologized time and time again. I don’t get why you keep dragging this situation on like I’m some monster and that I did so much wrong to you.”
Faran’s face started becoming warm, getting frustrated with her mom,
“You don’t understand me and you never have. It’s all been about YOU, Mom. I am not and will not keep explaining myself to you if you won't hear me out”
Faran looked away from Corey, putting headphones in to drown out her mom before she said anything else to her
—-
Kelly got to her house and as she walked in, she saw her mom sitting down, crying while looking at a picture of Karen. Kelly frowned and walked toward her mom.
She placed her hand on her mom’s shoulder, scaring her mom slightly,
“Oh, Kels.. it’s just you, I’m sorry that you had to see this, I’ve been trying to stay strong for you.” Her mom was wiping her tears, looking up at Kelly.
Kelly smiled, hugging her mom tightly, and looked at her with concern. “Mom, you don’t have to apologize. You are allowed to cry, you lost a daughter and a husband, no matter how bad he may be.”
Martha’s face lit up with happiness,
“I’m so proud of you, sweetie, and who you’ve become.” Kelly sat down, looking at her mom and taking a deep breath,
“Could I alk to you about something? It’s important.”
Her mom nodded and placed her hand on top of Kelly’s,
“Of course, you can tell me anything.” Kelly started scratching at her legs, trying to get the courage to say what she needed to say, she took one more deep breath,
“I’m gay and before you say anything about Greg, I think I wanted to be with him because Karen was. I already broke up with him and we’re still friends.”
Martha chuckled confusedly,
“Sweetie, I would never judge you. You are who you are and I love you no matter what. I just want you to be happy.”
Kelly embraced her mom and they stayed hugging for a while.

Chapter Text

Noa just got done with her shift at Pinball Pizza, as she walked outside she ran into an old flame. It was Jennifer, Noa put her hand over her mouth, shocked at seeing her. “J-Jennifer? Is that you?” Jennifer gasped loudly, “Oh my goddd! Noa, I can't believe it’s you, I’ve been thinking about you since last summer.”
Jennifer went in for a hug, Noa hesitantly hugged back and awkwardly smiled, “Look... I can’t do this, I don’t want to remember that summer. I have a boyfriend and you know that. Why are you here… the real reason.”
Jennifer started frowning, “I’m not here to be malicious, I’m just visiting family. I just happened to run into you” Jennifer explained
Noa felt bad for thinking Jennifer had bad intentions but who wouldn’t, she literally cheated on her boyfriend.
Jennifer placed her hand on Noa’s shoulder, giving a comforting glance. “How is Sean anyways? You two doing okay?” Noa smiled at Jennifer, “We’re doing really good. He’s been here for me throughout my whole mom drama.”
Jennifer tilted her head, “What mom drama?” Noa rubbed her arm anxiously, “So basically, I got into some legal trouble but it wasn’t actually me. My mom was doing drugs and she made me take the blame for her..” Noa started looking uncomfortable
“Hey hey hey, we don’t have to talk about this. I can’t imagine how hard that must have been for you. I’m glad Sean was there to help you through it.” Jennifer embraced Noa tightly, both slightly blushing
Before either of them could say anything, Sean walked up behind Noa, “Who’s this, babe?” Sean said curiously
Noa and Jennifer quickly stopped hugging and Noa kissed Sean’s cheek, “Oh- uh this is just a friend from summer camp! Her name is Jennifer.” Jennifer awkwardly held her hand out and Sean grabbed it, shaking it. Then he pulled her in, giving her a bro hug
Jennifer awkwardly laughed, “It’s nice to meet you. Noa couldn’t shut up in juvie. It was always Sean this and Sean that.” Noa pushed her playfully, “Hey! I’m not that big of a simp.”
Sean giggled, looking at Noa, “I dunno, this story tells me otherwise, baby.” Noa shook the head, laying her head on Sean’s shoulder. “Hey, so uh, Jennifer? Noa and I were about to head somewhere to hang out. Would you wanna join us?”
Jennifer smiled, “Sure, I wouldn’t mind.” They all three smiled

Mouse’s grandma, Lola, came into town while Mouse’s mom was on a couple's retreat. Lola came down to help out and watch Mouse.
“Grandma!” Mouse shouted from the office, wanting to show her how to use the computer. Lola entered the room, walking a little slow
“Hurry, Gran! I wanna show you something.” Mouse’s grandma tried to speed up, “I’m trying, I’m trying.” She finally got to the room and she sat down next to Mouse. “What’s this, dearie?”
Mouse chuckled, “You know what a computer is, grandma.” Lola shook her head, “No, no this isn’t a computer. Where are all the wires? This is nothing like the computers we used to have.”
“Yeah, Gran, that’s because they’ve been getting better. There’s a bunch of new websites and games you can play on here.” Lola tilted her head, “Could I read my books on here?” Mouse nodded her head, “Yeah, you definitely can! Let me show you a few websites.”
Mouse and Lola were scrolling through Google and during their search, they came across a spookyspaghetti website that piqued Lola’s interest, “Wait, what’s that one?” She said as she pointed to spookyspaghetti
Mouse shrugged, “I don’t know! I’ve never seen that one. Do you want to see what it is?” Her grandma nodded, they went searching through the site and it was full of horror stories. There were characters called, The Slimguy, Bobby Died, and Just the Killer
“Are you sure you wanted to be on this site, gran?” Lola shooed Mouse off, “I’m a grown woman, I’ll be okay. You leave grandma while I read.” Mouse looked offended but left the room anyways
Mouse’s phone dinged, “Hey, Mousey. You didn’t tell me grandma was dropping by. Tell her I said hi :p -A” Mouse started frantically looking around, panicking slightly. “How is A always figuring this stuff out?”
—————————————-
Noa, Sean, and Jennifer arrived at the Roller Rink and went inside. Noa looked over at Jennifer, “Do you know how to roller skate?” Jennifer put her hand over her mouth, dramatically gasping, “Do I know how to roller skate? I am the queen of roller skating.”
Noa giggled, “Sure, the “queen”, whatever you need to tell yourself.” Sean butt in, “I am however the king of roller skating. And every king needs a queen.” He held his hand out toward Noa
Jennifer fake gagged, “You two are so gross”, Noa and Sean laughed and they all started roller skating. While they were skating, Noa’s phone went off, “It’d be a shame if Sean ever figured out about you and Jenny Wenny. Make sure to keep your secrets close. -A”
Noa was off-put and she skated right into the wall, dropping her phone and falling on her bottom. Sean and Jennifer both skated over to help her, Sean went to glance at her phone but she quickly snatched it.
Sean took her hand helping her up, “What happened, babe?” Being a little suspicious about her snatching the phone, “Oh, it was just something for your birthday and I must have gotten distracted” She rubbed her head, picking herself up
“You’ve gotta make sure you focus while skating, you could get hurt.” Sean said, “She does that a lot, you should have seen her in juvie.” Sean laughed, “I still can’t imagine Noa in juvie, it’s not really her scene anymore.”
“Maybe you just don’t know her as well as you think you do.” Jennifer said a little aggressively, Sean gave her a dirty look, “What’s your problem all of a sudden? I thought we were all having a good time.”
Jennifer tried not to roll her eyes, “It’s nothing, I’m sorry. I’m just a little hungry is all. I’ll probably head out now.” Noa frowned at the two of them fighting, “Can you two please not fight? It’s really not a problem, Jen. We can buy you food.”
She shook her head, “I’ll be okay. I’m sorry for being aggressive. I don’t know what’s up.” She walked away and didn’t come back, Sean shrugged and looked over at Noa, “What happened? Did I say something wrong?”
“You didn’t do anything wrong, babe. Jennifer just tends to blow up outta nowhere and makes it everyone else’s issue. It’s one of the reasons we aren’t that close anymore.”
——————————————-
Mouse knocked on the office door, wanting to check on her grandma, “Yes?!”, Lola shouted, “It’s Mouse, I just wanted to check on you, you’ve been in there awhile.”
“Come in, sweetie. I want to show you what I’ve been reading about. This website is really interesting.” Mouse walked in, seeing that Lola was still on spookyspaghetti, “Grandma, that website seems really weird. I don’t think you should keep reading that stuff.”
She waved her off, “Just look, it really isn’t that weird. These characters have such unique lives. I am infatuated with this Slimguy character” Mouse had a sick look on her face, “Okay, gran, I’m gonna leave you be.” Lola waved Mouse off again. She walked out of the room and sighed. She regretted showing her grandma how to use the internet, she hadn’t gotten up from that seat since she got to Mouse’s house. Mouse missed her moms and wished they would come home sooner so she wouldn’t be stuck taking care of her grandma all day.

Chapter 7: Stolen Kisses

Chapter Text

It's been about two weeks since the last day of school. You would think this gave all of the girls time to themselves and to reflect on their changed lives but the school rules still applied. Due to the amount of class, the girls missed dealing with A they all had to attend summer school.
Imogen slammed her mailbox shut and marched over to Tabby's house. She knocked on the door and it immediately opened.
“You got one too?” Tabby asked holding up her letter from Millwood High. She looked like she had just got up.
“Between me having my baby and our moms literally dying you'd think they would give us a break” Imogen ranted her eyes getting teary.
Tabby pulled Imogen in for a hug. She had been stressed as well from the letter a stream of tears started to fall down her cheeks as she thought about it.
“It’s too early for all these emotions” Imogen breathed. pulling away from Tabby. Tabby backed up to allow Imogen inside, wiping the tears from her face.
“How have you been?” Imogen asked sitting on Tabby's couch her voice still shaky.
“Well given the circumstances I'm okay at the very least” Tabby answered she walked over and sat with Imogen.
“I'm sorry Tabby… you shouldn't have to go through all of this,” Imogen said placing a hand on Tabby's hand. They both got shocks of electricity through their bodies. They hadn't talked about the kiss since it happened but obviously, they thought about it. Tabby could feel her face heat up and Imogen’s leg started bouncing with nervousness. The room was silent for a moment before Imogen opened her mouth to say anything.
“So… the kiss-”
“Yeah we should talk about it,” Tabby said
“Did you kiss me because you wanted to or because Mouse brought it up?” Imogen asked looking into Tabby's eyes.
“N-no ive wanted to kiss you since you moved in with my mom and I” Tabby confessed.
Imogen was stunned by this, she thought Tabby only kissed her out of pity.
“Really i-i had no idea… I've been wanting to do the same for a while now but I thought it would be a bad time to bring it up..”
Tabby smiled, something she hadn't done in a long time. Imogen's blush had become visible at this point. She couldn't hold back anymore she had been wanting to hear those words from Tabby since the day they met. She switched positions to face Tabby, Tabby did the same. Imogen placed her hands on either side of Tabby's cheeks and pulled her in for a kiss. She pulled away and looked into Tabby’s eyes
“Is this okay?” Imogen asked tabby nodded and kissed Imogen again. Imogen's heart was basically beating out of her chest, Imogen alternated between kissing Tabby’s lips, cheeks, and neck, and she let her arms rest on Tabby's hips.
Imogen did notice something as they were kissing. Tabby's breathing was a bit harsh. Imogen pulled back to make sure everything was okay.
“Tab? Are you alright?” she asked
‘Mmhmm I just need a moment... I'm sorry” Tabby’s said placing a hand on her, “I just haven’t really kissed anyone like this before. It’s scary.”
Imogen placed her hand on top of Tabby’s, gripping it lightly and rubbing her thumb across her hand, “Please don’t be sorry, we don’t have to keep going. I just want you to be okay and feel comfortable
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours had passed since the two kissed, and Tabby started feeling better. They started to head to Pinball Pizza to meet up with the rest of the loser club. Once everyone gets there, all of their phones go off and say, “Hey girlies, all together again? Maybe sticking together isn’t the best idea this time around -A”
Imogen scoffed and turned her phone off,
“I’m so tired of this, now they’re trying to sound like Karen.” Faran put her hand over her mouth,
“Wait… guys, what if it is Karen? She had a closed casket, we never actually saw the body, and now that we know that the principal was A, what if he recruited her or something?”
Mouse sighed and slightly rolled her eyes,
“Faran, please don’t bring up this whole Karen thing again. There is no way she could be alive, we need to move on.” Faran started to get angry,
“Why does no one ever take my side? I can’t ever make assumptions without being judged?” Tabby butt in,
“GUYS. This is exactly what they want, for us to go against each other. If we keep fighting, it’s just going to be easier for them to target us.”
Both girls apologized simultaneously, “Sorry…”
Imogen sat down and looked at everyone,
“Let’s just get some pizza and try to get our minds off of this.” All the girls sat down and Mouse started talking,
“Also, guys, my grandma just into town, and she is like overly obsessed with this website and it’s like getting to her head.”
“What do you mean?” Noa said with curiosity,
“Okay so basically, the site is called spookyspaghetti and it has all these weird characters, like horr-” Tabby excitedly shouted,
“I KNOW THAT WEBSITE.” Imogen giggled at Tabby getting so excited, the girls all looked at Tabby and Imogen.
Tabby looked back at them, “What are you all staring at”
They started chuckling and shrugged playfully, the pizza arrived at their table and they all started to eat. Tabby received a message,
“Hey, queen, time for another task. Don’t worry, it won’t be anything too drastic but I need you to check something out for me. -A”
She panicked and got up quickly,
“Hey uh, guys, I have to go use the restroom real quick!” Tabby ran to the bathroom and snuck out the window, she looked down at her phone and another message came in,
“K, I’m going to need u to go to the hospital for me. :)” Tabby started walking toward the way of the hospital, “Why do I have to be the one to do all this? Why me?’
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabby was pacing around the hospital lobby waiting for a response from A but there was nothing yet, all of sudden, all the lights in the hospital turn off and Tabby screams loudly. A light starts flickering down the hall, there was a woman wrapped in bandages standing at the end. She was wearing a blue hospital gown and carrying a scalpel. The light turns off again and Tabby starts to back up slowly
She tries to run out the door but it won’t budge, she was wearily looking behind her, fearful and panicked. The woman ran up behind her, swinging the scalpel at Tabby, she dodged it and started running toward the staircase. She went into the stairwell, slamming the door on the woman behind her, and ran up the stairs. Tabby got to the fourth floor, still looking behind her, as she opened the door, she tripped. Before she could get up, the woman grabbed her foot and started to drag her. Tabby started kicking as hard as she could, but the woman lost the grip and fell down the stairs
Tabby ran back through the door, barricading it, and went into an empty room, locking the door behind her. She was panting heavily, sitting in front of the door. The woman began banging on the door, “LEAVE ME ALONE! I AM CALLING THE COPS.” An hour went by and the lights finally turned back on, someone knocked on the door and Tabby screamed loudly, “Please, I don’t want to die.”
A man with a deep, raspy voice wiggled the doorknob, “Tabitha Haworthe? This is Deputy Harold, we are here to help you.” Tabby opened the door hesitantly and looked at him, “Is she gone..?” Harold nodded his head, “Yes, but the bad news is that she is nowhere to be found. We have already put out an APB for her and you will be under constant surveillance. I can assure you that no one will hurt you.” Tabby hugged him, then she started to cry into his shirt, all she wanted was her mom but she was gone and all of this is so much harder without her.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a few days later, Tabby and Imogen were staying at Mouse’s house as they had no one else to stay with. Police were still sat outside and the girls were all given days off of summer school for safety reasons. Imogen was holding Tabby tightly, Tabby still in shock. She still hadn’t talked about what happened, she hasn’t spoken at all
Mouse walked into the room and sat next to Tabby and Imogen, “Has she talked yet?” Mouse asked Imogen, she shook her head sadly, nuzzling her cheek against Tabby’s.
What the girls didn’t know is that the reason she isn’t saying anything is because of what happened, at least not fully but it was because if she said anything, it would put everyone at risk. Tabby thought to herself, “If I don’t talk, no one will get hurt. That is all that matters.”

Chapter 8: Free Fall

Chapter Text

24 hours earlier:
After the incident with Tabby, the girls were scared to be alone. They decided to crash at Imogen's house for a while. To keep their moms from worrying so much. Mouse’s moms even debated cutting their trip short but Lola begged them to stay where they were at. She said she can take care of Mouse perfectly fine by herself. Faran’s mom was on the fence about letting Faran stay away from the house, she said it was odd that all of these things keep happening when all of the girls hung out together. Faran reassured her that they knew what they were dealing with and didn't need to be babysat, she also brought up how Tabby was doing.
Tabby finally spoke some words but it had nothing to do with the current issues at hand. She was being avoidant and dodged every question that was asked.
Present time:
Marjorie Olivar had just got off the phone with the police. She was currently leaving to go home after her long therapy session. She had a lot of trauma she had to get off her chest so she could adequately get through her rehabilitation process.
“Thank you, officer, I hope you all are able to solve this” her voice was shaky.
She didn't want this whole A thing to start up again. Ever since it happened a few months ago she couldn't shake the feeling that something or someone was watching her.
Marjorie walked all the way to her apartment. She was breathless due to the light jog she did halfway there after getting scared by a stray cat. She unlocked her door and closed it behind her. She took off her jacket and placed it on the dining table. She decided to dial Noa.
“Hey Noa, are you coming home tonight?” Marjorie asked
“I can't, the girls want us all to stay together so we don't get hurt, how was your session?”
“It went well, I'm fine with you staying with your friends. How are you and Sean?”
“We're going okay” Noa sounded unsure “That's good that your session went well mom, I'm proud of you!” Noa smiled
“Thank you, sweetheart! Well, I have to go, I gotta see if we have anything to eat in here” Marjorie giggled,
“I love you ma,” Noa said
‘I love you too sweetie” Marjorie said
She hung up the phone and went to the sink to wash her hands. She opened her fridge and decided that the leftover pasta would do good for tonight. She placed it in the oven for about ten minutes on high. Once it was finished she prepared herself a plate and sat in her living room.
Marjorie clicked through a few channels on the television and just settled with the late-night news.
She took a bite out of her food.
For a while, everything felt normal but then Marjorie sensed something was off.
She looked around and jumped when her phone started ringing.
“H-hello?” Marjorie spoke into the phone
A deep voice spoke back to her, “Hello, Marjorie. Home alone?”
Marjorie started looking frantically around her apartment, frightened. “Who is this? Why are you messing with me?”
The person chuckled, “Messing with you? I just asked a question.” Marjorie hung up the phone out of fear, she sat back down on the couch, not able to focus on the tv. The phone rang again, Majorie hesitated but picked up the phone
“Noa? Is this you? Are you pulling some sort of prank on me?” It was silent, all you could hear was someone breathing into the phone
“If this is you, Noa. You’re in so much trouble, you’re scaring me.”
The breathing got louder as if someone was behind her. Marjorie quickly turned, no one was there. She was terrified
“Mar, are you sure you locked your door? Wouldn’t want some stranger coming in, would we?” She looked over toward the door, it was cracked open. Someone was in the apartment with her, “This isn’t funny, dickhead. Stop p-playing around.”
The person giggled, “Awe, is little old Ms. Olivar scared? You should be.” The person hung up the phone and before she could even react, a woman ran up behind her. It was the same woman who attacked Tabby
The woman swung at Marjorie, she just barely got out of the way of the hit, “Leave me alone!” Marjorie shouted as she picked up a lamp, throwing it at the woman
The woman fell to the ground and Marjorie ran to her room, locking the door behind her. She decided to hide in the closet, it was dark, and she thought to herself that it was the perfect place to hide
Right as she shut the doors to the closet, she felt a warm breeze on her neck. Marjorie slowly turned, looking behind her, letting out a blood-curdling scream. She was stabbed, blood started pouring from her stomach, the man in the suit, took her, laying her on the bed
Marjorie tried to fight back, kicking the assailant. The man took her leg, snapping it. She screamed in pain
“Please, please, please, I have a daughter. You don’t have to do this, you really don’t.”
The man was silent, he took his knife and stabbed over and over. There were at least thirteen stab wounds. The man and the woman both left the apartment, calling the cops to clean up their crimes
——————-
Noa and the girls were all sitting in Imogen's living room. Tabby sitting next to Imogen, Faran, and Mouse had a seat together and Noa sat on the arm of the chair that Mouse and Faran were sitting at.
“Tabby, you’ve gone through so much trauma over the past few days, I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this. We’re gonna get this motherfucker I promise.” Noa cursed
“Thank you Now, it’s nice to have all of you here through all this shit,” Tabitha said, running her fingers through her hair.
“I know what we can do to lighten the mood!” Faran said
Mouse and Noa raised their brows and everyone turned their attention to Faran
“Let’s think about the good things out of this,” Faran said
“We can all put this on our resumes” Mouse jokes
Everyone giggled or nodded their heads in agreement
“I don’t have a curfew anymore” Tabby shrugged her shoulders and laughed
Everyone else joined in.
“Just imagine our college essays. We’ll get in for sure.” Imogen said hesitantly, everyone laughed, and Tabby had a big smile. She was looking deeply into Imogen’s eyes and kissed her
—————————
Hours have passed by, all the girls are on the floor gathered around the tv watching a movie. Tabitha was feeling a lot better but it was still hard but she wanted to stay strong for her mom and Imogen.
Imogen laid her head on Tabitha’s shoulder, slightly falling asleep on her, yawning. Tabby looks at Imogen and pokes her forehead, “Hey, could we talk about something?”
Imogen tilted her head, “Yeah, of course. What’s up?” Tabby took her hand, “Follow me” Tabitha took her to another room, and all the other girls silently followed behind them
Tabby and Imogen were standing in the kitchen, “Tabs? You’re kinda scaring me. What’s going on?” Tabby took a deep breath, staring into Imogen’s eyes, “Will you be my girlfriend?” Imogen’s face lit up red, twiddling her fingers, “Of course, I wanna be your girlfriend!”
All the girls came running in, screaming with excitement and hugging them both tightly
There was a knock on the door and they all stopped in their tracks, a police officer talked through the door, “Hi, girls, it’s Deputy Harold. I was told by someone to come check on you.” The girls all went to the front door, Imogen opened the door
“Hello, sir. What can I help you with?” The officer looked through the door and around the house, “Are any adults present in the house with you?” The girls all had nervous expressions, “Uhhhh… no.” Imogen said with a blank face
“Unfortunately, you will need to stay somewhere that has an adult. I can escort you, girls, somewhere.”
Noa looked at her phone, “We could go to my apartment, my mom should still be up.”
Deputy Harold nodded, “That sounds like a plan. Give her a call for me, please.” Noa gave him a thumbs up and tried calling her mom, the phone kept ringing but there was no response
“Uh, she’s not picking up but she might have just gone to bed early.” Deputy Harold smacked his teeth, “Alright, well, I’ll just take you, girls, up there and bring you to the door.”
They all nodded and got into the cop car with him, he drove them to Noa’s apartment and they all went up. The door was creaked open, Deputy Harold pulled his gun from its holder, pushing the door open slowly
While Deputy Harold went inside, all the girls’ phones went off, “Hey queens, I’m sure you will like the surprise I cooked up this time :p -A”
Noa threw her phone on the ground and ran inside, finding her mom’s dead body in a pool of blood. She started screaming, pulling on her hair, “MOM! No no no, this can’t be happening. No no no.”
Everyone else ran in and gasped, all of them crying at the sight

Chapter Text

All the girls were staying at Mouse’s house, Noa and Tabby were both distraught, both of them being very quiet. Before they could even try to relax and feel better, all the girls’ phones went off, “Sorry about all your moms. It must be hard not knowing what’s gonna happen next. ‘A”
Noa screamed at the phone, “FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!” She started crying profusely and was pulling at her hair, “I can’t do this, I really can’t. This is too much, I thought I’d have my mom forever…” Tabby and Imogen quickly hugged her and was comforting her, Imogen looked at Noa, “I know it’s hard and it will be some time before you start feeling better but you will. I thought I’d be broken but then I met all of you.” Noa and Tabby smiled, hugging tightly
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a few days later and the girls were being forced to go to school, the cops claim that they’ll be safer there and that it’ll be easier to protect them in a confined space. Faran was rolling her eyes the whole time, “This isn’t going to help anything. We have been attacked at school before and they didn’t do a good job of protecting us before.” Noa nodded, “Literally and them making me and Tabby come to school after what we just went through is seriously fucked. I’ve barely had any time to mourn.” Noa was about to cry but Mouse rubbed her back, calming her down
“Have you talked to Sean bout everything?” Noa shook her head, “I haven’t talked to him since it all happened, I’ve been too afraid to even get on my phone but I should see him-” Before Noa could finish her sentence, an announcement blared through the speaker, “Imogen Adams, Tabitha Haworthe, Noa Olivar, Faran Bryant, and Mouse Honrada, please report to the principal’s office” Principal Stevens said through the microphone, all the girls looked at each other and groaned
They all arrive at the principal’s office and the principal motions all the girls to take a seat, they all sit awaiting what Principal Stevens has to say. “Girls, the reason I called you in here is that the state made us bring in a therapist for you all, and before you all moan and groan. I can promise you this will do you all some good, you have gone through the unimaginable, and the fact you haven’t talked to anyone is astonishing
Faran nodded her head, “For once, I actually agree. We are all seriously fucked in the head.” Principal Stevens shook her head, “Ms. Bryant, your language is very apprehensive, please mind your manners in my office.” Faran rolled her eyes, “Yes, ma’am.”
“Anyways, the therapist is named Dr. Sullivan worked closely with the first girls who went through this as well. She is well known and has been thoroughly vetted by both the school and the police department.” Tabby sighed, “Well if you can’t recall, the last principal we had tried to kill us. So how do we know we can trust you or her?”
Imogen placed her hand on Tabby’s leg, “I don’t know if it helps any but Aria told me a lot about Dr. Sullivan and it all seemed really positive. I know you’re scared, I am too but we do ‘really’ need some help.” Tabby’s anger died down and she started smiling lightly, “You’re right, babe. Thank you for calming me down.” Imogen giggled and kissed her cheek, the other girls all playfully said, “Ewww!’
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------—--------------
Dr. Sullivan came out from the other room, “Ms. Adams? Please come in” She said, motioning her to the room. Imogen walked in and sat down, “I know we can’t discuss other patients but Aria has told me a lot about you!” Imogen said excitedly, Dr. Sullivan nodded, “Ah yes, Aria. She went through what you and your friends are going through now.” Imogen sadly nodded her head, looking down. Dr. Sullivan started writing in her notebook, jotting down notes
“Imogen, is it? I know this may be a sore subject but could you tell me a bit about your mother?” Imogen looked at her annoyed, “Why do you need to know about my mom?” Dr. Sullivan pulled back a little, “It’s just procedure but if you aren’t able to talk about it now, that’s perfectly okay. I would like it if we can discuss something today though. Is there anything you need to get off your chest?”
Imogen took a deep breath, slightly grabbing the chair, her heart was pounding, “Well, there is one thing.” Dr. Sullivan raised a brow, “Yes?’ Imogen breathed out. “Okay, well.. uh... I just recently got into a relationship and I won’t lie, I am a little afraid.”
Dr. Sullivan took some more notes, “Why are you afraid?” Imogen gripped the chair harder, “It’s just.. she has been my friend for such a long time, and being in such a committed thing feels so scary and I don’t want to hurt her, especially with everything that is going on and I- I- just don’t want her to die. Everyone close to me dies and I can’t lose her too, I’d completely break.” Dr. Sullivan stopped Imogen and looked at her, giving her a consoling look, “Imogen, your fears are completely natural and you being afraid is normal. Just remember, she is with you because you’re you, so just keep being you and it’ll be okay.” Imogen smiled, “Maybe you’re right, it’s just with this whole thing, it has been hard to stay positive but Tabby makes it all better and I just can’t afford to lose that.”
Dr. Sullivan nodded, “I completely understand and I am sure things will work out amazingly. Just take my advice and make sure to treat her the way you wanna be treated, alright?” Imogen nodded in agreement and Dr. Sullivan took some more notes, “Well, Imogen, it has been a pleasure meeting you and I am glad we got to discuss something even if it is something small,” Dr. Sullivan shook Imogen’s hand, “Please let Ms. Bryant know to come in next for me” Imogen walked out, “Faran, you’re next.”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Faran walked into the other room, shutting the door behind her. “You may sit anywhere you’d like, Faran. Make yourself comfortable.” Faran sat in a beanbag that was a little low to the ground, “Ahh, this is the life.” Mrs. Sullivan jotted into her notebook and Faran got a little offended, “Heu, why did you write after I said that?”
Dr. Sullivan looked at Faran, “It’s just the way I operate, I take everything into consideration whether it be big or small.” Faran rolled her eyes, “This is stupid, I know I said I needed to be helped but this just feels stupid.” Dr. Sullivan started writing in her notebook again, “WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THAT AFTER I TALK?” Dr. Sullivan looked at Faran again, “That is exactly why, Faran. You are not allowing yourself to feel anything so whenever you do, you just blow up.”
Faran frowned, staying silent and realizing that Dr. Sullivan was right. “What is on your mind, Faran? This is a completely open space, don’t feel afraid.” Faran sat up and sighed, “This might sound selfish of me but I am glad my mom hasn’t been killed yet, as much as I disagree with her, I couldn't imagine life without her.”
Dr. Sullivan jotted in her notebook, “It’s not selfish to want your mother to still be alive, Faran. You aren’t a bad friend for wanting your mom to stay alive,” Faran scrunched her nose a little, “You’re right but I feel so bad because three of my closest friends have lost their moms and here I am, happy that my mom is still alive.” Dr. Sullivan looked at Faran, “What makes you a good friend is being there and supporting your friends through hard times and you do that, right?” Faran nodded her head, “Well, then you have nothing to worry about.”
Faran scrunched her nose again, “Thank you, this is actually very therapeutic.” Dr. Sullivan giggled, “Well, that is the point. I am glad this helped you, I would like to go over more next session though.” Faran smiled, “Alright, I’m looking forward to it.” Dr. Sullivan smiled as well, “Can you tell Ms. Honrada to come in next?”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You next, Honrada.” Mouse got up, “Why does everyone call me by my last name?” They all shrugged, Mouse walked in and sat down, “Hello, Ms. Honrada. How are we feeling today?” Mouse was a little thrown back by the question, “How do you think?” Mrs. Sullivan jotted in her notebook and looked at Mouse, “I know it can be a bit of an open-ended question but it can help me explore a little bit more without getting too personal, too quick.”
“Oh, okay! That makes sense, I don’t know really how I feel. It kind of just feels numb all of the time.” Mrs. Sullivan took notes again, “Could you explain the numbness?” Mouse nodded, “Yeah, it’s like whenever you bite down on your tongue really hard and it feels numb after. That’s how I feel all the time.”
Dr. Sullivan nodded her head, “That can happen, especially with everything you went through. Our brains are wired to shut down if we go through something traumatic so your way of coping is probably just feel nothing. Which is not a good coping mechanism.”
“I can’t really help it though, what else could I do to make myself feel better or at the very least feel something?” Dr. Sullivan sighed, “Well, there isn’t any quick fix but try doing more things that make you happy even if it’s hard to want to.” Mouse shrugged, “Will that really help?” Dr. Sullivan nodded her head, “Of course, it won’t be a permanent fix but it will definitely help you to ifeel more.”
“I’m not going to keep you too much longer as this is just a way to get to know you and get a better feel of your character but is there anything you’d like to discuss or would you like to wait until our next session?” Mouse twiddled her thumbs, “I think I’ll wait. I don’t know if I want to talk anymore today.” Dr. Sullivan nodded, “That is completely okay, can you tell Ms. Haworthe that she needs to come in next?” Mouse saluted as she walked out of the room
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mouse looked at Tabby, “Your turn, girl.” Tabby rubbed her arm anxiously, Imogen hugged her tightly and kissed her on the cheek, “You got this.” Tabby half smiled and got up, walking into the other room. She sat down, staring away from Dr. Sullivan, “Tabitha?” Tabby cringed, “It’s Tabby.”
Dr. Sullivan jotted it down in her notes, “Okay, I will call you that from now on. Thank you.” Tabby was still looking away from Dr. Sullivan, not wanting to talk. “Tabby? I know it’s hard to trust anyone right now but you should talk to me about something. Even if it’s small so we can build a bond.”
Tabby was rubbing her arm, “I miss my mom… like a lot. I always said I wanted to be in a horror movie but I didn’t mean like this... I never wanted this, she wasn’t supposed to die. I saved her. I did everything A wanted.” Dr. Sullivan wrote in her notebook, “What do you mean by that?”
Tabby started panicking and shook her head, “No no, it’s nothing at all.” Dr. Sullivan raised a brow in curiosity but avoided the question. "Is there anything else on your mind, Tabby?"
Tabby nodded, "There is but I don't feel comfortable talking anymore today. My chest feels like it's closing in on itself." Dr. Sullivan handed her some water, "Deep breaths, Tabby. Our bodies have a tendency to react badly to stressful situations, just take a few breaths and your heart should start feeling better. Tabby did what Dr. Sullivan suggested and she started feeling better, "Thank you." Tabby said with a genuine smile
Dr. Sullivan nodded and Tabby walked out of the room, "Your turn, Noa. That felt like Midsommar, it was so stressful. The vibes were so off."
—--------------------------------------------
Noa walked into the room and sat down. She seemed more closed off than the other girls, Dr. Sullivan noticed that, "You seem to have a lot on your mind."
Noa snapped her head toward Dr. Sullivan, "Yeah, obviously. My mom just died, not to mention before that I was on house arrest for a crime my mom did. And OH, someone tried to kill me. So yeah, I'm sorry if 'there's a lot on my mind'"
Dr. Sullivan wrote in her notebook, "I'm very sorry for your loss, Noa. I can't imagine what you're going through but going against the world won't help anything."
Noa rolled her eyes, "I'm not against the world, I'm against this whole thing. Everyone is acting like everything's just peachy. It's not peachy, it's not even close. My mom is dead and instead of being able to mourn, I have to talk to "you'."
Dr. Sullivan just let Noa talk, staying quiet. Noa started to cry and she punched the chair, "It's not fair. None of this is. I can't even enjoy my summer because of all this shit. I'm so tired."
Dr. Sullivan looked at Noa, "Do you feel better now getting all that out?" Noa sniffled, "Yeah… actually. That felt really nice." Dr. Sullivan smiled, "That's good, just know I'm not against you. I am here to help you."
Noa hugged Dr. Sullivan, quickly pulling back though
"I-I'm sorry, I just didn’t know how else to respond. Thank you.."
Dr. Sullivan smiled, "It's completely okay, you girls are all done now.

All the girls met up in the bathroom after, Tabby was rubbing her arm a lot and Faran had noticed, "Hey, Tabby. What's up?"
Tabby took a really deep breath, "Guys… I need to tell you something." All the girls looked concerned. "So… A has been messaging me privately, making me do tasks for them. I had to give them Sean's student file and they wanted me to do more stuff but they told me not to say anything."
Noa started getting really angry, "What the fuck, Tabby?"
Faran looked at Tabby, "So you're the reason all this is happening? Why would you help that fucker do anything?"
Imogen got annoyed with what Faran said, "That's not fair, you heard her. She had no choice and if you're really blaming her, that's fucked up." Faran rolled her eyes, "Oh shut up, Imogen. You're always on such a high horse." Mouse tried calming everyone down, "Hey, hey! Stop it. What the hell guys?"
Tabby got close to Faran, "Don't ever talk like that to Imogen again." "Or what?" Faran said, getting into Tabby's face. Tabby shoved Faran and the two started to fight, the other girls broke up the fight
Imogen looked around, "I think we all need a break from each other for a bit."
Faran nodded her head, "That's the best idea you've ever had."
Faran went home and her mom was sitting down in the living room and Faran started to cry. Her mom was concerned and she wrapped her arm around Faran, "Hey, hey what's going on?" Faran wiped her face, "I just got into a really big fight with all my friends and I'm just so… stressed."
Faran's mom got up, "I'll go get you some tea. Okay, sweetie?" Faran nodded and then she got a notification, "Beep beep bitch. 🚘 -A" Before Faran even had time to react, a car rammed through the house wall, slamming into Faran's mon

Chapter 10: Smooth Criminal

Chapter Text

Faran was sitting by her mom’s bedside, her mother was in a medically induced coma. She is suffering from many injuries, the doctors said that given the injuries that Faran’s mom went through that she will most likely not be able to walk. Faran was very disheartened with the news and was super worried that her mom wasn’t going to recover.
The rest of the girls came to visit, Tabby walked in last. Faran got up and walked up to Tabby, “Get out. Now.” Tabitha was thrown back by what Faran said, “What? Why?” Tabby said in a confused and hurt tone. Faran looked at her dead in the eyes, “You caused all of THIS. My mother is in a hospital bed because of YOU.”
The girls wanted to defend Tabby but everything was so tense, Tabitha nodded her head, walking out. As Tabby ran out, Imogen walked in, “Where did Tabby go?” Imogen said, confused. Faran shrugged, “I could care less.” Imogen scoffed and went after Tabby
Noa looked at Faran, “Don’t you think that was a little far, Faran?” Faran shook her head no, “No. She was working with A. Why is that even a question? And now my mom is in a hospital bed and your mom is dead, Noa. Dead.” Noa awkwardly rubbed her arm and started looking down
“Did it ever dawn on you that maybe A was manipulating her?” Mouse snapped
“I’m sorry but we can’t exile each other from the group. That’s what A wants us to do.” She explained
“She’s right Faran, we can’t just exile Tabby like this” Imogen chimed in
Faren bawled up her fist and let out a sigh.
“I suppose… you guys are right. But I’m still going to be asking her questions.”
“Thank you Minnie,” Noa said, placing a caring arm on Mouse.
The girls walked out of the hospital room towards the same direction they saw Tabby run off to.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Millwood hospital had an eerie feeling to it that made even the doctors get chills. The girls were starting to feel the energy.
“She couldn’t have gone far.” Imogen said
“I’ll try calling her,” Mouse said, dialing Tabby's number.
The phone rang but there was no answer. This made the girls panic; they were now running through the halls.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Tabby!” Noa yelled through the halls, her voice echoed throughout the whole hospital.
“Young ladies. What do you think you’re doing?” A nurse scolded the girls stopping them at the end of the hall.
“This is a hospital not a playground.” She placed her hands on her hips. She was definitely much older than the girls. Her hair was brunette and her name tag read Hastings.
Noa’s eyebrows twisted with anger.
“Move the fuck out the way lady” she said trying to push passed her but this Hastings woman wasn’t budging.
“Oh no you don’t.” She pushed Noa onto the ground making a thud sound.
“What the hell?” Imogen said, helping Noa off the floor.
“Now what are you all doing running through the hall acting like a bunch of animals?”
“First of all bitch we’re looking for our friend, second if you so much as lay another hand on any of them again I’ll sue.” Faran threatened her, “You’re just like my sister.” The nurse rolled her eyes. “That girl you all are looking for. She’s on the first floor crying her eyes out. If I was your friend I’d drop you all in a heartbeat to be honest.” Melissa Hastings said, crossing her arms.“You must not have a lot of friends.” Mouse said, pushing past Melissa, the girls following her. Melissa was left in shock. Mouse held back her laughter. “Nice one Honrada.” Noa giggled. The girls made it to the main floor and approached a very depressed Tabby.
Her eyes were puffy and tears were running down her face.
Faran sat next to Tabby, she took a big sigh. She wasn’t good at admitting she was wrong or did something. She looked at Tabby, “Look, I still don’t think I was fully in the wrong. You should have told us.” Tabby nodded and looked at
Faran, “You’re right, I-” Before Tabby could finish her sentence, Faran placed her hand onto Tabby’s shoulder, “You didn’t let me finish. I went too far and I should have taken your side into consideration as well. I have to get better with that. Next time though, please tell us.”
Imogen smiled and sat down next to Tabby, kissing her on the cheek and holding her hand, “We need to get going, guys. I hate to cut this short, but we need to try and save the rest of our moms before it’s too late.” They all nodded, heading out of the hospital. The girls headed to Mouse’s house to see if her moms were home yet.
——
The girls went inside, and as they entered, Faran received a message. All the girls looked at her, Faran looked down at her phone. It was a message from Greg, “hey theres a lifeguard position where im working if you want some extra cash 💰” Faran rolled her eyes, “It’s just Greg. He said he has a job for me so I’m gonna go check it out if that’s okay with you girls.” *They all nodded*
Faran started to walk to the community pool, it wasn’t too far from Mouse’s house so she just decided to walk.
———
The rest of the girls go to sit in the living room, but in the next room they hear Mouse’s grandmother screaming at her computer screen. Minnie hurriedly ran to the room, “Grandma?! What is it?”
Mouse’s grandma was pointing to the screen with a photo of the girls on spookyspaghetti. Everyone else came in behind Mouse and saw themselves on the screen.
“What the fuck is that?” Noa said, in a worried tone. Imogen elbowed Noa, “Noa, shut up. Don’t curse around Mouse’s grandma.” Noa playfully rolled her eyes
——-
“No but seriously, what is that? It’s like "Unfriended. Straight out of the movie.” Imogen nodded, “I don’t know why that website would have a photo of us.” Mouse’s grandma looks at her, “Who is A, Minnie?” All the girls' faces dropped at the statement from Lola. Mouse started to awkwardly laugh, “What do you mean grandma?”
Lola pointed at the text on the screen, “We should play a little game of cAt and Mouse. -A” It was captioned under a photo of Mouse.
Mouse fake laughed and waved off the comment, “That’s just a school friend of ours, grammy. It’s nothing serious.” Mouse’s grandma smiled, “Good. Wouldn’t want my grandbaby getting hurt.”
———
Faran arrived at the pool, she looked around for Greg. It was ominously quiet around, no one was really around. Greg jumped up from behind her, Faran swung behind, almost hitting Greg.
“What the fuck, Faran?” Greg exclaimed. Faran had a flat expression on her face, “Why would you try to scare me, asshat?” Greg laughed, “Oh, come on. It was funny.”
Faran rolled her eyes and looked around the pool, “So where is everyone?” Faran asked. Greg looked at his watch , “Hmm, should be here soon. The pool is closed until 2:30 on Sundays.” Faran started walking around, “The vibes in this place are great for a pool party, we should definitely throw a rager here.”
Greg looked at her proudly, “Maybe you aren’t so bad, Bryanr.” Faran did a little bow, laughing, “So why tell me about this job?” Greg shrugged, “I mean, you’re friends with my girlfriend and she talks about you a LOT. So I figured I should try and actually be nice to you.”
Faran got a bit flustered with what Greg said, twirling her hair, “She talks about me a lot, huh? Makes sense. I am pretty badass.” Greg nudged her arm and walked her over to the lifeguard chair, “So this will be your job. You just have to watch the kids swim and that’s it.”
Faran climbed up onto the chair, crossing her legs. “This feels fitting, a queen looking over subjects.” Greg fake vomited, “Oh you are so full of yourself.” Faran smiled, “I know.” As much as Faran didn’t want to admit it, hanging out with Greg is actually fun, and helping her to get her mind off of her mom.
———
Mouse got onto her grandma’s computer looking through the site, trying to see if any other photos of them were on the website. As Mouse was scrolling, Imogen pointed at the screen, it was a photo of a girl wrapped in bandages and covered in blood.
Tabby covered her mouth as she gasped.
Imogen looked over at Tabby, “Tabs, what is it?” Tabby removed her hand from her mouth, “That’s the girl.. who chased me. Not exactly the same, of course but I swear it was a scene out of "Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Mouse clicked on the character, her name was “The Bandaged Girl.” Mouse rolled her eyes, “What a good name.” She says sarcastically
Noa looked over Mouse’s shoulder, “Does that say she’s blonde? Like, you know who.” Tabby and Imogen look at each other, “No way.” The two said simultaneously.
Noa shrugged, “I mean, what other blonde girl do we know that would be bloody and covered in bandages?” Mouse twirled her chair around, looking at them all, “If this is Karen, it would make sense. She probably thinks it’s our fault she got pushed off that catwalk.” Imogen sat down, “If it is her though, why come back now? Why is she dressed like that?” They all shrugged, staring at the screen.
