Concepts are Broken.

Summary:

Ever wonder why no hero from outside of Paris comes to save the day? Did you ever ask yourself why no one remembers Lila's existence as she disappears for months on end? Why nothing ever changes? Why Hawkmoth is still there, even after months of the city-wide destruction he keeps causing?

Well, no one said that such a relevation is pretty.

Chapter 1: A kwami's perspective

Chapter Text

Void.

Disconnection.

Non-existence.

Cosmic Isolation.

Whatever you wanted to call it, Fluff knows that it can never truly describe what happened to the city of Paris.

Aeons ago, the kwamies were parts of the concepts that governed the Universe, created from Nothing, and kept existing as it was.

Doing nothing but making sure that the universe and the rules of cause and effects, as well as the ever-changing and paradoxical laws of the universe was kept balanced, protected annd unviolated for as long as the Kwamies existed.

As long as the concepts were complete.

And then the Order of Guardians happened, and they broke the concepts themselves, and ripped parts of them to be enslaved and become weapons for whatever agenda the Order had.

Fluff might not remember everything that happened due to his forced separation from the rest of Time, but he knows enough.

Some of the concepts who had parts of them forcefully shredded to create the Miraculouses, were lucky as other concepts can fill the gaps left from the action of literally enslaving fragments of concepts.

Time… was not in luck.

It was impossible for any other concept to truly fix the damage dealt to Time.

Constance was unable to, as Time is ever-flowing and cannot be stopped.

Memory was also unable to, as Time existed not only in the past, but in the future and the present as well, whether people remember it or not.

None of the other concepts will be ever able to fix the hole that was made from Fluff being imprisoned into his Shackle- or as the so-called “"Guardians”“ call it, a ”“"Miraculous”“”.

The consequences for that are… horrifying to say the least.

What happened tp Paris was simply impossible to describe.

Other than the nigh-permanant stagnation of the flow of Time in there, the seasons barely changed for years, the normally important events barely changed anything or made any impact.

And that’s not even the worst of it at all.

Due to Time in Paris being twisted and shattered beyond repair, the entire city itself was already being literally isolated from the other places where Time was flowing properly.

And the memories of those outside the twisted fragment of Time that was Paris, was also being already affected to the point that none of them can even remember Paris existing except barely.

That was the reason why Gina kept forgetting Marinette’s birthday for years whenever she was away. She wasn’t just forgetting her birthday, she was forgetting her family existed.

That was why none of the other countries ever wonder about the Akuma attacks, even though some of the Akumas have outright destroyed almost all of Paris in such a way that it was impossible to forget or cover up.

It was why none of the hundreds of the other heroes ever comes to Paris to defeat Hawkmoth.

Fluff knows that Memory was trying it’s best to stop that from happening, but it was a losing battle, and soon, no one will ever remember that Paris existed at all.

And to add more problems, Space and Matter were already being affected as well.

The trio of Time, Space and Matter were connected to each other, to a degree that it’s impossible to express.

If one of them has a defect, the other two will follow, and Fluff had already felt that the two concepts were already waning in Paris.

Places where pure voids of nothingness exist, and areas where Matter literally ceased to exist, forcing everything in that point of Space to suffer a fate of being literally Irreversibly Deleted from the universe, where not even memories remain.

And those irregularities keep growing, festering, erasing everything they come into contact with.

Soon, it will be the entire city that would be Deleted, and when it happens, Fluff knows that there’s no way for that particular damage to be fixed or migitated.

All what will be left is an area where light, sound, energy, matter, and space and time literally don’t exist.

Paris will not even be a memory. It will be as if everything that is existing in Paris currently, from the monuments built there, to the very people who live in the city, to become as if they never existed.

And Fluff can only hope that if that horrible scenario happened, that the gaps in Time won’t widen anymore, and Delete the entire universe.

Chapter 2: Locked inside the Void

Summary:

Lila Rossi has a very good reason why people don't remember her most of the time. Too bad it's horrifying.

Chapter Text

For an undetermined amount of times, Lila cursed the fact she had ever entered the cursed city of Paris almost an uncountable amount of times.

The reason for that isn’t because Ladybug did something to annoy her again.

It isn’t also because Hawkmoth targeted her or made her angry in some way.

It isn’t even because Marinette had somehow grew closer to Adrien or that that girl tried to expose her lies.

No.

The reason why she was cursing her moving to Paris is exactly due to this situation she was in.

Pitch black darkness surrounded her everywhere.

Her was body suspended in what seemed to be an endless void where nothing exists.

There was no light, no sound. Nothing at all.

She was simply walking inside her house, planning to eat some food by using the money she had, only for that to happen.

A black rift in space opened around her, surrounding her than closing, dragging her to this… place!

Lila Rossi would have cried at the sheer, endless loneliness this place exuded.

If she was even able to cry, that is.

Her body, locked into the same form and movements she was in before being sucked into this abyss of nothingness.

Here, she was paralysed, unable to move, completely at the mercy of this void surrounding her.

Her body couldn’t move.

Heck, her eyelids couldn’t move either.

And she was pretty sure her heart hadn’t beaten even once since she was imprisoned here.

The only thing that seemed like a silver lining is that somehow, her body never tires here, so she won’t be dropping from exhaustion any time soon.

And to hammer the point home, she was sure her being unable to die here is not even a blessing in comparaison to the utter horror she was experiencing.

In this world where nothing existed but her mind, her own senses seemingly ceased to exist as well.

She could see nothing.

She could hear nothing.

She could taste nothing.

She could smell nothing.

She could sense nothing, not even the very clothes she knew she was wearing right now.

All her senses simply ceased to work in this void, and the only thing that seemed to even work is her ability to think.

She no longer knows how long she was here, supended, forcibly immobile, unable to physically feel anything.

And the kicker?

This isn’t even the first time this had happened to her.

The first time it happened was, if she can even recall it correctly, was a few weeks before she joined François Dupont school, just a few days after she moved along her mother to Paris.

She was simply enjoying the sights, and accidentally left the house after her mother exited…

And then darkness swallowed her.

That was the first time she ad ever felt so utterly hopeless, as she mentally begged for her mother, her papa, anyone, to save her from this crushing emptiness.

It took her barely what seemed to be hours for her to lose hope, and then it took her only few more time to start talking to herself to ignore the utter isolation surrounding her.

She didn’t know for how long this kept happening, but when it ended, she found herself on the ground, in her house, and it was apparently the day where she would have entered the school.

Normally, she would have broken down and begged her mother to never leave her ever again, but the horror kept going.

Her memories and feelings of what happened to her during that whole month were somehow… erased.

As if they never existed.

The only thing she felt was a huge subconscious desire to NEVER ever be ALONE.

No matter what. No matter how.

Going to the school, she didn’t know why she had the urge to talk to others and make them like her, even by lying.

When she saw Adrien, the model, her senses kept blaring.

He is special, he is important. If I connect with him, I will not be alone.

That was her thinking process.

She didn’t understand at that time why she felt this compelled to have connections with HIM personally, but she just could’t ignore that drowning sensation of wanting to be acknowledged, which made Ladybug’s harsh yell all the more horrifying to her, even if she STILL couldn’t understand why.

Ladybug was trying to stop her from being acknowledged, she was therefore an enemy, and Lila, controlled by her subconscious fear, ended up hating the heroine with all her being.

Sometimes around that, she once again ended up into the same void, and the memories of her harrowing experience returned, which nearly threw her into a mental breakdown.

That was her life at this point.

Being trapped into this hellish void, deprived from all her senses and mobility, with no one but herself existing here. From this angle, she could see her actions, could ask questions–why Adrien in particular? Why did she hate Ladybug so much?

Then returning to the original world, while forgetting all her memories inside this Abyss, having more trauma that subconsciously affect her.

Then trapped once more, as she remembered ALL the other times she was “temporarily deleted” from her world.

And as she is there, unable to do anything but look blankly at the darkness in front of her, she can only pray and beg for people to help her.

Mama, Papa, please, help me.

I dont care who saves me, Ladybug, Hawkmoth, even the Devil himself, I don’t care! Just please save me!

I… I just don’t want to be alone any more…

Chapter 3: The Cosmic Error that became Sentient

Summary:

You can always expect things to happen. Sometimes, things are fair, and sometimes, they are cruel and force us to do all we can to survive. And not even the concepts are immune from this fate...

Chapter Text

Eons ago, the cosmos came into being, expanding infinitely, branching, without any stop or interruption. Creating universes, multiverses and more in the process.

Eons ago, just a little after the cosmos came to being, Concepts came into existence, stabilising the cosmos, making sure it won’t collapse on itself. Making sure the cosmos keeps existing, to no longer become nothing just like it had been.

Space, Time and Matter came to be, and with them came the other concepts such as Constance, Change, Chaos, Balance, and Order.

More time had passed, and Weight, Gravity and Mass came to be, causing the birth of Attraction and Repulsion, and with them, small dust, rocks, and more elements, started to latch on each other, creating heavier entities, until they became too heavy, and their atomic composition started to change.

Stars started coming to existence.

A very, very long time later, the cosmos was filled with galaxies, each filled with stars and planets.

An even longer time later, humans came to be, along with many other species and life-forms, and with them, came the existence of human emotions, and other concepts related to them.

Only recently, just a few millenias ago, few humans got enough knowledge to use the powers of the Concepts, by binding a fragment of a concept into a magically made item.

Whether their reason of this was because of greed, ambition, desire, want to help, to make life easier, to protect; all this doesn’t matter anymore.

The concepts had fragments of them ripped off, sealed and used for the goals of the Order.

And the Cosmos howled.

The forceful fragmentation of the Concepts caused a hole to open, where no concept can fix, and the cosmos and other concepts could unfortunately only do so much, therefore, even though Creation, Destruction and other concepts were lucky to have substitutes to help them, other concepts such as Space and Time had no such luck, therefore, the hole kept existing inside of them.

And as long as they weren’t complete, the hole will keep staying open.

A dozen centuries ago, in a plane of existence that cannot be defined by space or time, an existence was born. Born from this incomplete state the concepts were in. But even so, it was still a baby, unable to feel or comprehend what’s going on around it. Unable to comprehend what the reason of it’s birth really was.

It simply kept rotating between sleeping and looking at whatever it can see from the cosmos just like a baby.

In the plane of existence that cannot be defined by space or time, the existence grew, gaining intelligence. It slowly started to understand a few of the machinations of the cosmos, knowing to a degree how the concepts existed.

Yet it still didn’t comprehend what it was, and how it came to be, as that was still difficult for it to understand.

It would be a few centuries later, that it would have realised that it was born from the Cosmic holes caused by the fragmentation of the Concepts and the creation of the Miraculouses.

At that point, it was still too young, naive, relatively speaking, and it barely had the ability to understand the bigger problem.

Why is that something so bad? After all, even though it was bad, that incident had given birth to it, so wasn’t it fine?

It can’t be that it was unwanted, right? It can’t be that it’s existence was just a mistake, right? That it was undesired, right? Weren’t all concepts sacred? Even an entity like itself?

This process of thought kept appearing in it’s mind, and its naivete causes it to shrug the implications of such relevations.

Of course, the other concepts around it were probably feeling awkward or something? It cannot be possible that they don’t want to interact with it willingly. After all, it was a part of the cosmos as much as they were.

That was what it kept thinking for years.

A few more years later, it tried to interact with it’s neighbours once it had figured out how to, believing that they just didn’t know how to connect to it on their own, so it wanted to be the one that befriended them first.

It didn’t expect what would happen.

The moment its existence made a small connection to the existence of the other concepts, including Time, that was still damaged, an extreme pull overwhelmed the child concept, a sensation of pain letting itself be known for the first time, and much to it’s horror, it felt it’s essence being deleted by being into contact with the other concepts.

Quickly, it retreated, fear and confusion filling it as it couldn’t comprehend what it had experienced. It was the first time it had ever felt pain, and it was shocked.

Why? Why did it nearly die back then? Do they really hate it? Or hate the way it came to be?

It was still unable to comprehend what the problem was, and few more times, it tried once again, with the same result.

In the end, it retreated back to its plane, alone, feeling afraid of why it isn’t capable of interacting with it’s sibilings, as it saw them.

For a few years, it had closed on itself, wondering what to do, and during that time, it discovered a few things about itself.

It wasn’t completely original. It wasn’t born from a new concept, or something like that, it was a result of being born from the shattering of certain concepts, it held a small power of said concepts as well.

True, it didn’t handle a candle compared to the concepts themselves, but they didn’t seem to be able to harm it as long as it didn’t interact with them first.

So as much as it hated leaving it’s neighbours, it had to, and thus started roaming the universe.

It was only centuries later, just a little before Emilie Agreste, a human, goes into a coma, that the entity reached the Earth, wanting to see this planet where it had felt that the concepts were a little… subdued.

It was wondering what the big deal was, and it’s senses guided it into Gabriel Akumatising himself to cure Emilie.

It watched in fascination as the couple had declared, in what is apparently a rare occurence if the kwamies’ reaction is correct, that they should destroy the miraculouses since it is too harmful to keep around, and then, another akuma was born.

It watched as the akuma unleashed some sort of energy, and the jewels the humans wore started shattering.

But the fun didn’t last long, as the being had barely felt dread before a feeling of loss started swallowing it.

If it can, it would have blinked as for a moment, it couldn’t understand, and then it did.

And if it had a mouth, it would have screamed.

No.

It’s essence is leaving it. Returning back to the shattered concepts, fixing them.

And at the same time, as the breaks in the cosmos was repairing itself, it’s existence was being erased. Deleted. Rejected.

No. No NO. NONONONO!!!!

It didn’t want to die!

It didn’t want to cease to exist!

It wanted to live! To thrive!

It couldn’t just let this occur!

With desperation, it, for the first time, had used the remaining power of whatever it still has left from the broken concepts.

And it just happened that the power the most prominent in it was Time.

The cosmos, being too focused on mending itself, didn’t get a chance to realise what was occuring, let alone react.

For a second, Time stopped moving in the cosmos, before it went backward, just a few miniscule hours before Gabriel destroyed the miraculouses.

The Being took a moment to calm down in the rewound time, and comprehend what it did, and what it nearly killed it.

It hated the fact that it had almost died, and it realised that it must take drastic actions to continue it’s survival.

With an objective in the clear, it once again went to the Earth, and this time, it carefully used a fraction of the power of Subjugation it had, making sure that Gabriel won’t heal his wife, as it assumed that Emilie being healthy is what caused the destruction of the miraculouses.

It’s meddling succeeded, but, unfortuately, while Gabriel didn’t heal Emilie, he still tried to destroy the miraculouses, deeming them too dangerous.

Again, in panic, the being reset Time once again, and changed things again.

This time, Gabriel did NOT destroy the miraculouses.

Gabriel just ended up giving the miraculouses to Fu and as a consolation, Tikki and Nooroo healed Emilie, and then in a moment of clarity, they decided to destroy the miraculouses as they are too dangerous for anyone, period!

Another reset, and this time Gabriel WILL believe he must heal Emilie and NOT throw away the miraculouses, but never actually try to heal her using Nooroo and Duusuu’s powers.

The Being felt content about this for now, as it watched Gabriel desire to use the two miraculouses to heal Emilie, believing he won’t succeed.

Gabriel created a miraculous-searching akuma and won, and nearly destabilised the universe with his wish, and almost killed the entity anyways.

Reset; Gabriel’s planning abilities were Subjucated to become limited, therefore not being able to make akumas that can easily help him, and the entity is getting really annoyed now.

It wanted to live. Was that too much to ask?

Apparently so, since now, that blond girl Chloe was terrified at her near-death, and genuinely became better, and helped Ladybug and Chat Noir find Hawkmoth by hiring hackers and using the magic of miraculouses to find Gabriel’s hideout, and capturing him, and freeing the kwamies in the end.

Reset; Chloe doesn’t get her eye-opening discovery due to her near-death experience.

But then, Adrien of all people get slowly pissed at his father’s neglect and in a fit of rage over his abusive father practically locking him in the house because of a BOOK, he snaps and kills him, and decides to go to therapy because damn his emotional health is a wreck, and Nooroo finds some way to free himself, and then everyone else.

At this point, It only kept resetting Time of the Cosmos whenever the kwamies were freed, and added another Subjucation or another thing to it’s list to control.

Adrien growing up and genuinely becoming friends with his class and apologizing to Ladybug, therefore defeating Gabriel and somehow freeing the kwamies?

Reset.

Marinette being fed of her partner’s harassmet, therefore taking his Ring, and finding an easier way to defeat Gabriel, therefore freeing the kwamies somehow?

Reset.

Marinette moving on from her crush, therefore having more time to crack open the Grimoire, and freeing the kwamies?

Reset. And just to make sure, her immediate circle of friends will also stop her from moving on.

The weather making people sentimental and causing some out-of-nowhere revelations?

RESET!

Everytime.

Everytime it thinks it will finally be able to live happily without fear, something just KEEPS popping out and nearly kills it!

At this point, it was furious, and no longer caring about how much damage that might be made, but it had decided.

If It cannot coexist with the other concepts normally, and any other option is deletion?

Fine.

It will make it’s own Cosmos then.

A cosmos where It and other beings like it cannot be rejected, where It rules over, controlling everything to make sure all is fair and just.

And it will start by absorbing the powers of other concepts first.

The more it had affected the Cosmos around it, the more it’s influence and power grew, it had realised.

Now, it will start by exerting it’s power of Time even more against Paris, weakening Space and Matter, slowly taking away their influence in the city along with the power of every concept that existed in that city, then it will target the other cities, then the planet.

It will keep targetting everything in it’s path, and when the cosmos itself was absorbed, it will create a new one.

One by it’s own rules and laws.

Without feeling the fear of being erased ever again…

Chapter 4: Cosmic Loneliness

Summary:

An expansion to my baby concept's viewpoint. Angst here, guys!

Chapter Text

In the boundless vastness of the cosmos, a being slowly came to be.

What it was, how it came to existence, and what its purpose and goals, were things it couldn’t care about.

Lacking the ability to comprehend what exists around it, unable to focus its attention on a single thing, as its mind was similar to that of a baby, it could only do one thing it instinctually felt was appropriate.

To look around it, a feeling consuming it to do so.

Curiosity. A desire to see the unknown was bubbling in its existence.

There was no purpose for it doing so. The being just wanted to.

Soon enough, it felt another sensation.

It didn’t ponder about it, neither did it care. It just listened to it.

It fell asleep.

Slowly time passed. The being, slowly, but surely, grew.

It could feel as it no longer had to sleep every few hours, and it could feel as its attention span grew, its mind expanding.

‘Cosmos. I am in the cosmos!’ It giddily thought to itself, feeling a strange sensation in its being. Pride at having the slightest bit of understanding of where it is.

Just like a kid, it loved its new knowledge. It felt like it was holding a treasure.

It loved its existence.

Years pass, power grows, intelligence widens, and curiosity increases.

'I am a concept!’

'I live in a giant family of concepts!’

'I wonder how pretty this cosmos will be!’

'I wonder when my sibilings will greet me!’

Such thoughts consume its childish mind.

Even so, even with the growing knowledge it had consumed, it still couldn’t realize what it was, and how it came to be. It just thought it would find out one day.

Such was its innocence.

Centuries had passed, and it finally got the insight of what it was, but it was very confused by the answer, as it only raised more questions.

'I was born from the cosmic holes? From the fragmentation of my siblings?’

It would have tilted its head, if it had one.

It could feel that the cracking of its siblings was bad, but…

'But, it gave birth to me though? Was… that bad?’

Confusion was bubbling in its still young mind.

'Am… I disliked? Am I hated? By the cosmos? By my siblings? But, aren’t I a concept just like them? No! It couldn’t be! I am just overthinking!’

It decided to ignore that thought process.

Yeah! It isn’t hated. The other concepts are just feeling awkward. Maybe they don’t know how to interact with it on their own. There is no way for them to hate it, right?

After all, it didn’t do anything bad to them.

Yeah. That must be it. That must be. It isn’t in denial at all.

A few more years pass, and it could feel glee in its being.

It did it! It finally found how to interact with the other concepts!

Now, it could befriend them for real and bond with them!

A stream of energy manifested by the baby concept’s will, going out of its own domain.

Only to be met with a sensation that forced it to reel back.

Pain.

Pain and loss.

The moment its energy exited its domain, it was deleted, as the baby concept felt as if its being was being sliced apart.

It retracted, fear and confusion consuming it.

'Why? Why did you hurt me? Do… do you really… hate me?’ It thought in fear and sadness.

It couldn’t comprehend why this was happening.

Why is the cosmos and its siblings rejecting it? Why did they harm it even though it just wanted to be with them?

Still, it didn’t want to give up.

The idea of being alone scared it. It wanted to connect with them.

Unfortunately, the same results were the only thing it had gotten.

Had it been able to cry, it would have done so, as it realized that it better retreat to it’s plane of existence.

'I just wanted to not be lonely…’

More years pass, and the child concept grows. Intelligence grows, control over its power and its understanding of it rises.

Loneliness, also grows.

'Maybe, I should just… roam the universe. At least, I am not hurt when I move my plane of existence with me as well.’

With such thoughts, it pulled its energy, and started floating as the universe kept expanding.

A long journey spanning several centuries had begun, and it ended with curiosity as the child concept felt something strange happening on one particular blue planet.

'Strange… Concepts feel… weak here. I wonder why?’

Curiosity drove it, its senses guiding it towards one of the largest amount of concepts it felt on the planet.

There was two… humans? Yes, two humans talking to each other while speaking to small cute animal-like beings?

It’s instincts told it that they were kwamies.

It watched as the human woman, Emilie if what the guy Gabriel said, declared that the pieces of jewelry they were wearing, the so-called Miraculous, were dangerous, and need to be destroyed.

And so, the child concept watched in fascination as the two transformed, and then a wave of energy was unleashed, destroying the jewels they wore-

And dread and loss swallowed the being.

Confusion, then terror, as it realized it.

Deletion. Its essence, leaving it. Power, erased. Horror, consuming its being.

'No no NONONO! I- I don’t want this! I refuse! I want to live!’

In its fear, it abandoned all restraints, unleashing its power. It wanted something- Anything for it to do to ensure it’s survival-

And the fragment of Time contained within its being, obeyed.

Time, moved backward.

It could barely process anything as time was reversed, trying its best to calm down, as it realized what happened, and what would happen few hours later if it didn’t interfere.

'No! I- I will still die! I need to- I need to stop them!’

Decision made, it hurried back toward Earth, planning to stop the human couple from killing it. It managed to Subjugate Gabriel so he will not heal his wife, barely succeeding in its goal.

Only for the being to freeze, as Gabriel stated to himself, that he will destroy the Miraculouses that took away his wife, deeming them too dangerous.

Desperation entering its being, it decided it had to rewind time again.

'This time, that Gabriel guy will not try to destroy these jewels! And I will stay alive!’ The child concept thought giddily as it watched the next events.

Gabriel truly did not destroy the Miraculouses, and for few days, the being felt happy, until Gabriel had met an old man, who decided to help Gabriel, healing Emilie in the process–

And planning to destroy the Miraculous.

'No!’

Once more, time was rewound.

And as the child concept was rewinding time, another sensation was felt through its being.

“Don’t worry, Emilie. I will never stop trying to heal you!” Gabriel stated after being Subjucated to not abandon Emilie, and into thinking he must heal her on his own.

It didn’t take a day, before his akuma had managed to bring him both the Ladybug and Black Cat miraculouses.

Gabriel, wearing both, wished for his wife to be cured.

Reality shuddered, as the cosmos was being destabilized.

And the child concept could only look on in shock as the wish was affecting it as well.

Another reset ensues.

'Why?’ It pondered, a new feeling entering its being.

Sadness and annoyance.

'Why does this keep happening to me?’

It just wanted to live.

'Why can’t I just be left alone?’

It just didn’t want to die.

'Was this… so difficult? Answer me, cosmos!’

But, there was no answer for it to hear.

It just- wasn’t this enough, already?

“No! I can’t keep going the same way I was before!” A blond girl screams in her pillow, remembering the near-death experience she suffered. “I don’t want to be killed. I- I must change. If only so I will not be responsible for my own and my father’s demise!” her hand tightening into a fist. “I must change… even if it required being nice to others…”

A girl resolving to do better as a person, so she will not suffer.

Reset.

“I am done, father! I am tired of you! And your abuse! I hate you! Plagg! Claws out! Cataclysm!”

A boy, deciding to deal with his abusive father once and for all.

Reset.

“Ladybug. I- I want to say that I am deeply sorry. There’s no excusing my harassment of you. And you have every right to hate me. I, I understand. I will never ask you for dates or endanger you or my friends just because of jealousy or my feelings anymore.”

A hero that had gotten his act together, realizing the errors in his way, and swearing to be better.

Reset.

“Enough is enough! Chat Noir! I told you, again! Over and over! I don’t love you that way! I am getting tired of this, Chat! And if you don’t stop, then I will take your Ring! This is your last warning!”

A girl furious at a callous partner that only adds more to her plate and ignores all her boundaries, deciding to end the whole problem.

Reset.

“I- I am giving up on Adrien. No, Alya, I am serious. I am not joking around. Yes, Alix, I will never forgive you if you keep pushing me towards him anymore. We’re fourteen for crying out loud!”

A teen who decided to set her priorities, and make her boundaries clear.

Reset!

Why? Why is it always the same result?

Why does it always ends with its existence almost erased?

Rage slowly consumes its being.

It was unfair.

It didn’t deserve that. It did nothing to deserve suffering that kind of punishment.

'But, you don’t care about me, do you? Answer me, Cosmos!’

It was tired. So tired of the attitude the cosmos was taking.

'You did nothing when the concepts were shattered. You did nothing when humans enslaved fragments of the concepts. And yet!’

It was really difficult to calm itself down.

'Yet, when I gain life. When I was born, from your own carelessness and negligence, you decide to let me be erased? Don’t make me laugh!’

Determination was filling it.

'If death is the fate you decided to me, fine! I don’t need your reality!’

'I reject it! Your reality! I will make my own! A reality where I and similar beings don’t need to fear the Deletion you tried to force on me! A cosmos where everyone and everything can coexist. This is my promise!’

Chapter 5: End of a Shattered Cosmos

Notes:

The Happy Finale.

Chapter Text

“The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.”

This saying of Aristotle, the Greek philosopher, regardless of who believes in it or not, has actually a basis of truth.

The cosmos, as a whole, isn’t simple and easy to understand.

It has a lot of secrets, each delving deeper than the last, and also, it was sentient.

Just like any living being.

It had emotions, senses, and a will of it’s own that allow it to thrive and grow, regardless of how stretched those are.

The biggest similarity to other living beings is that it can also recognize when it’s being hurt. The best example to that is when the Concepts had some of their fragments ripped off to make the Miraculouses.

It knew that something wrong and devastating had happened to it, but it didn’t attack back due to not wanting to exert itself anymore than it needed or wanted to.

It also knew that the entity that came into existence due to said damage was growing and gaining sentience, but it didn’t try to deal with it since the concept had not gone out of it’s way to cause havoc in the machinations of the cosmos.

After all, what’s can that little concept do?

If it tried to interact with the other concepts, it will be drained and deleted, so there was nothing worth caring about when it comes to that concept.

It will either stay still for who knows how long, without bothering anything, or it will be rejected and erased, so it’s a win-win scenario for the cosmos.

In a way, the relation between the cosmos and that concept was akin to two people living on different sides of a planet, as long as neither of them interacted, there will be nothing to care about.

At least that’s what the cosmos thought.

And then the Time loops started, along with many, many Subjucations, and more conceptual powers.

A use of the power of it’s concepts, that it didn’t expect.

Even more, that usage was affecting the cosmos, negatively.

Even more so than when the concepts were fragmented.

The cosmos tried to be patient, not wanting to tire itself at first, even maybe feeling a sense of regret for a being unable to interact normally with the rest of the concepts, but at some point, something has to be done.

It couldn’t let this keep happening.

Couldn’t let the being causing havoc in it get away with this.

It was time to act just like how white cells act when finding a harmful bacteria in a human body.

Destroying the entity that kept wrecking it’s balance.

No matter how…

In a plane unidentified by space or time, the child concept watched the city of Paris, affected by it’s power, as other concepts were weakening, their powers absorbed into it’s being, becoming a part of it.

It had long accepted how cruel it’s actions are, but it still was determined to do what it had to do.

When the cosmos becomes a part of it’s being, it will gain access to all the memories of every living being it had absorbed, so that when it created the new cosmos, it will be able to recreate them just in the exact same way they were before.

It will be as if nothing had ever happened, with the child concept gaining it’s desire and being able to interact with the other concepts around it without problem.

Without fear of death or annihilation threatening it ever again.

Everyone wins, as far as it sees.

That was why it will keep doing so, until it succeeds…

But unfortunately, not everything can be so easy.

It was not noticeable at first, but the plane unidentified by space or time started cracking, slowly having the Will of the Cosmos, the many other concepts, including Space, Time, and many others, filling the plane with elements, imposing their will on the plane.

It barely took a second for the child concept to realize that it’s domain was being invaded, but it didn’t think too much, and like the many times it had already did, it Resetted Time…

Nothing changed.

It blinked, confusion emerging inside it.

That was new…

Normally, it was able to feel how the concepts were affected to a degree, but now, it was as if the power of Time inside of it’s being refused to obey.

Undeterred, it used the power of another concept it held.

Nothing happened.

A sense of dread seeped inside it.

No. That wasn’t supposed to happen.

It was supposed to be isolated, to be untouchable as long as it kept to itself in it’s plane.

So how?

How is it’s home being invaded without it’s permission??

A few seconds later, a wave of sheer aura exploded, shattering the walls of it’s plane, and now the child concept looked at what was invading it’s home, and shuddered in fear.

A countless amount of energies, concepts, each having a different color, some of them in the visible spectrum, and some not.

No. No. NO. NO.

It had finally realized what’s going on; the Cosmos had decided to take action, and delete it.

It knew that this was the punishment of absorbing and messing around with the powers the Cosmos had originally controlled. Even more so when it kept affecting the Cosmos to continue it’s existence.

The child concept had understood, even with it’s still developing knowledge and wisdom, that what it did was wrong, even if it was necessary for it’s survival

It did understand that if the positions were reversed, it would have probably done the same if it was as old as the cosmos.

And yet…

And yet…!

It still didn’t want to die!

Hastily, it tried it’s best to stop the Cosmos, as it started to run away, planning to find some way to survive and persist.

It ended up looking towards the city of Paris, the place where it exerted it’s influence the most.

Quickly, it left it’s plane, using all it’s power to hold the spread of the concepts toward itself to reach the city, where it will have more time to think of a solution.

Sadly, it couldn’t escape unhurt, as one of the concepts had managed to make contact with it.

Reality twisted.

Marinette inwardly sighed.

She was currently with the girlsquad in a meeting after school.

Apparently, Gabriel is going to leave the city and will most likely take Adrien with him, which means, yep.

She has to make an attempt to confess her feelings to Adrien. Again.

Seriously, it’s not like Adrien leaving is the end of the world, she can still talk to him via skype or phone or mail, or any way else, and most importantly, she is trying to move on.

But it seems that the universe doesn’t want her to.

As she listened to Alya explaining the ridiculously convoluted plan she had to follow to succeed, and she couldn’t stop thinking that it’s as if the plan was purposely made so she will fai-

Her thought stopped as suddenly, the light in their room seemingly turned off, and she reflexively glanced above along with the rest of the girls.

Only to be met with a spreading black void that seemed to absorb everything reaching it.

It was only instinct that told her to quickly run away.

One second later, she yelled at the girls to run away, as she did the same, preparing to transform to defeat whatever she thought Hawkmoth had unleashed.

Going outside though, she didn’t expect the sight in front of her.

Sizes, shapes, colors, angles, movements. Everything was being twisted beyond recognition, as if the laws of physics or reality itself had ceased to exist.

“Marinette!” Tikki popped out of her bag.

“Tikki, what did Hawkmoth do this time?”

Marinette was worried at what’s going on; this… this kind of akumas had never happened excluding Chat Blanc.

“This, this isn’t Hawkmoth! I don’t know how, but I instinctually know that the source isn’t him. But something way more powerful…!”

Marinette could feel horror reaching her face at this, just as she saw a black shadowy figure quickly crash on the ground, as the earth it came into co tact with turned black.

She quickly looked at Tikki, and was disturbed at seeing her friend’s body shivering, as if a deadly kwami predator was there.

Quickly calming Tikki, she ran away to transform, leaving the black figure that actually was the child concept on it’s own.

It had finally reached Paris, but, seeing how the laws of physics are already being twisted beyond recognition, it had understood that the Cosmos was steps ahead, and it now cannot escape anymore.

If it had fists, it would have clenched them.

It hated this, hated being cornered, being killed.

It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t just. It wasn’t the child concept’s fault it was born like that.

So why does it have to be punished by erasure for something beyond it’s control?

Fear, rage, hatred, desperation.

All those feelings started swallowing it.

It didn’t want to die.

No matter what.

In his house, Gabriel couldn’t control himself from grinning widely.

Just now, a powerful wave of negative emotions had flared to him thanks to his miraculous’ emotion sensing, and he couldn’t believe how deep and strong they were.

Albeit calling them just ‘strong’ is the same as calling the sun ‘big’.

There was just no comparison for him to use to describe the sheer power of those emotions, and even better, their source is just a single person.

Transforming, he sent the Akuma towards the child concept, planning to use this chance to finally win.

Not knowing how disastrous his decision will be for him…

It hated this.

Hated being put in this situation.

Hated fighting to survive, and yet, here it was;

Having to fend the cosmos from erasing it, but it knew that it’s futile to fight alone.

It just couldn’t.

If something didn’t happen to help it fight back, it will be erased for real.

It didn’t want that.

It didn’t notice when a black butterfly made contact with it, but it definitely realized the mental link between him and the terrorist.

And it immediately realized the intents of the villain, causing its rage to raise even higher.

Before Gabriel even got the chance to speak, the entity used the link to force him on his knees, attacking the villain’s mind.

“You… You dare try to control me?” It spoke though the link, its voice full of hate, still trying to defend itself.

“I did not fight for my survival just so someone like you can control me. But since you gave me some power, I might as well take it…”

Using the mental link, along with the power of Transmission inside it’s being, the concept pulled on Gabriel’s miraculous, absorbing all its powers, including Nooroo, as the brooch shattered, no longer useful.

A desperate and raging yell was heard across all of Paris, as a pillar of nothingness rose to the sky and beyond, creating cracks everywhere, from land to air.

And what stood after it slowly disappeared was a being made of energy, beyond the understanding of humans and kwamies alike, and it looked furious.

This was the scene that Marinette and Adrien, now transformed, had just seen.

“You…” The child concept, now fully raging, looked at the two heroes and everything around it.

“I’ll absorb all of you!”

Void started spreading, creating a spherical wave that grew.

Marinette tried to escape along with Adrien, but the wave was too fast, and it quickly reached them.

The wave passed harmlessly through them, and then…

Lights of detransformations showed up, and both of them, now detransformed, fell to the ground, luckily not severely hurt.

Marinette groaned, trying to comprehend what just happened, and it’s only few seconds later that she realized that Tikki is in front of her, horror on her face.

“Marinette.” Tikki’s voice is fearful. “The Miraculouses- they… they aren’t there anymore!”

How!?

She instinctively touched her ears, and true to Tikki, there’s no earrings there.

But…

If there’s no Miraculouses, how will they fight and fix things now!?

A sound was heard, and she quickly saw the being apparently looking at her.

“This cosmos, will be now mine to absorb! Monochrome!

A wave of void was unleashed, swallowing everything on it’s path, including the power of diluted concepts in it’s wake.

It was unavoidable to Marinette and Adrien, and Plagg and Tikki are unfortunately not strong enough to block it.

Marinette could only watch as the void came closer…

But it never reached them.

The four watched in shock as the wave was stopped, as the concepts themselves came to the rescue, taking the form of countless shapeless colors, protecting them from deletion.

“Marinette. I am Creation.”

Marinette could only stutter in response.

“I will give you my power to help fix this. We will unite and become A single being. A being that is different from a human and a concept. In exchange, I want you to allow me to reunite with Tikki afterwards. Do you accept?”

Marinette took only a few seconds, exchanging glances with Tikki, and it was clear what they should do. Tikki looked awed and elated.

“We accept this deal!”

With that, Creation moved, engulfing Marinette’s body, Tikki being swallowed inside as well.

A glow of sheer power pulsed, as Marinette felt different, she was no longer just a human, but a unification of a human and a concept, her senses, sharpening, as her knowledge and understanding of the universe had expanded. Her body changed, as it gained an alien shape, with the only thing identifying her being the red and black spots of Tikki appearing on her new skin.

What she was now was beyond her wildest dreams, a being with the full power of creation, full understanding how to do so.

And an understanding of what is facing her.

She will save it, like she always tried to.

She looked besides her, and found out that Adrien had also united with Destruction and Plagg, gaining an alien shape, with only his demeanor feeling different; as if he had finally fully accepted his responsibility, and was planning to actually use this power responsibly. Maybe that was the effect of uniting with a concept that is thousands of years old.

Ignoring that, she focused on the concept facing her, and she felt it’s rage and fear.

“Why? Why do you keep stopping me? I… I will not die here! I will not be afraid of being erased any longer!”

Reality shuddered, as all colors except black, white and shades of gray ceased to exist, from not only Paris, but from the entire world.

Marinette and Adrien moved towards their opponent, their powers in full use as everything around them was being Created and Destroyed simultaneously, as they tried to Create the timeline where they would win, while Destroying any timeline where they would lose.

The child concept was no slouch, as it used the powers it had absorbed to negate their efforts, as it fought them face-to-face.

They were evenly matched at first, as while the Concept was inexperienced, it had too much physical power and will to be defeated, but as the fight went, it was clear who had the advantage.

“Man, this one’s tough!” Adrien gritted his teeth as he and Marinette were pushed on the ground and easily raising, the Concept also hit the ground, and casually rose up.

“I know!” Marinette was frustrated.

She saw what it was doing, absorbing the powers of everything in the area, to heal itself, but they don’t have that perk; if they couldn’t finish this, their powers will be fully under it’s control.

The concept looked at them, it’s power taking the form of an aura.

“As I stated, I will not lose!”

And then it had moved to strike, using his Time power so that they won’t be able to block-

“No they will!”

Time stopped moving for a second, much to the shock of the Concept.

It was able to negate that, but Marinette and Adrien had moved and managed to avoid being hit.

“What!?”

It looked, and saw both Alix and Luka, unified with Time, and Intituion resectively.

“You!”

It raged, throwing a blast of Destruction at them.

But they didn’t have to move, as the blast was stopped mid-air, before a green sphere of energy coated it, as it disappeared harmlessly.

“Not on our watch!”

Two more figures appeared, Nino and Alya, now united with Protection and Illusion came, Alya just now using her power on the blast to make it think it was immobile, as Nino engulfed it in the green barrier.

“…!!!”

It amassed energy, planning to strike at the group of brats stopping it, but Marinette and Adrien had gotten enough time, and attacked, causing it to look at the duo that was fighting it.

Knowing that it has to stop those two right now, it charged at them, protecting itself as much as it can from the influence of the other concepts it had seen, with Marinette and Adrien also rushing as well.

Unfortunately for the child concept, it’s rush, that would have been strong enough to break the connextion between the humans and kwamies, was stopped as it froze in place, as a blue glow engulfed it, giving them time to capitalize and throw it into a building.

Now Lila and Sabrina, unified with the concepts of Emotion and Subjucation appeared.

Undeterred, the child entity rose, energy flaring as a massive orb of Creation, Chaos and Destruction came to existence, thrown towards the heroes.

It didn’t reach them as it had divided into countless smaller orbs, where most of them had teleported into the outer space, giving Adrien a chance to Destroy the stray ones, as Marinette sucker-punched the being, forcing it to stumble on the ground.

Juleka and Max, both unified with Multiplication and Teleportation apeared, protecting the rest from another guaranteed death.

“You… I’ll crush all of you!”

It was furious, raging, and desperate.

What was a guaranteed survival for it’s existence was now becoming more like a threat to it’s life.

And it hated that.

It didn’t want to die.

It deserved to live.

Nothing will stand on it’s way for that goal.

All it’s power, focused, was unleashed.

A sphere of contradicting Concepts and elements, returning everything it made contact with into the void.

None of them will be able to attack now, else the concepts will be severely drained.

That was what it believed.

A roar was heard, and it had t watch as it’s attack was destabilised, shattred and destroyed.

It could only look with it’s eyes open, as the concept of Derision, united with Kim came to the rescue.

And now, it was wide open, it didn’t have time to fight back, it couldn’t access it’s power properly.

That was more than enough for Adrien and Marinette to capitalize and finish this battle, as they both reached it at the same time, making contact.

“Lucky Charm!”

“Cataclysm!”

And a hole in reality came to be, swallowing all three.

In a plane of existence where almost all concepts ceased to exist, Marinette and Adrien woke up, their bodies feeling tired even though they were still fused with the concepts.

“Ugh…”

They looked around them, quickly getting alert to see what happened.

The first thing they saw was that this plane had the strangest colors ever, and it’s aura was so chaotic and contradictory that it was difficult to comprehend even for them, who were now one with a concept.

The second thing was…

“No… No… I don’t want to disappear…”

[Insert Lost and Forgotten byHalcyonicFalconX (Phyrnna)]

The other thing that got their attention was the concept they were fighting.

It had none of the feelings of rage it contained before, but now, it looked tired, afraid, desperate.

The power of the concepts it had absorbed was leaving it, Nooroo long being freed, looking at the poor concept with sadness.

“I just… I just wanted to live.. to exist, to never fear for my life, to have someone who I could call a family, a friend, and be able to interact with them without the fear of death, and yet, yet!” It cried at the unfairness of it all, as it’s powers seeped from it’s being, weakening as it felt it’s consciousness starting to disappear.

It hated dying, hated ceasing to exist.

It only wanted to live.

But it was all futile.

All that effort, pointless, as it felt as it’s deletion was approaching.

All that time, it was already decided that it would have been deleted.

It was just a matter of how.

It hated this, but yet, there’s a paradoxical feeling of peace at that comes with the fact that you will no longer feel pain and suffering.

Such a weird feeling, it thought.

Meanwhile, Marinette and Adrien looked at the sight with an extreme feeling of discomfort and sadness.

In the end, it just wanted to continue living. It just wanted to be loved.

They couldn’t blame it for desiring that.

Which made the scene in front of them all the more painful.

The child concept meanwhile was feeling both afraid yet content, fear for it’s death, yet content that it will no longer have to deal with this anymore, and it was about to accept the sweet embrace of Deletion…

And a different hand embraced it.

It’s eyes widened.

So warm, protective and nice…

That was how it could describe it.

The embrace was not as it had expected it’s death would feel like, and it looked at the source of this new sensation.

And was met with a being it had never seen.

It was not one of the concepts it had seen, different than anything it had ever seen, yet, as it was engulfed with the sweet embrace, it felt no pain like the other times it did when it came into contact with the other concepts.

It felt none of the dread it previously felt, nothing but happiness, calm, and the sensation of power slowly returning to it.

It was able to exist; even after the essence of the other concepts had long left it, it was still able to live.

It cried happily at that, gladly embracing the new concept that was making it feel so warm and feeling no longer alone.

“It’s fine, cry, vent all your loneliness and sadness away.” The new being soothingly talked. “I am Paradox, a concept born of your desire to never be alone, to be able to interact with others. I am here to protect you, to be by your side, to grow with you, to be happy with you, to cry and smile with you.”

The child concept cried harder, as it hugged Paradox more fiercely.

“Don’t fear, I will never let you be alone any longer. No more will you be hurt when interacting with the other concepts, from now on, you are as much a part of this Cosmos as any other. I will be the first friend and family you always craved for, and will help you connect to more of us. Just be happy. That’s all I ask for you.”

It had gently nodded, feeling finally happy that it’s no longer alone, no longer endagered; no longer unable to interact with the rest of the Cosmos.

Marinette looked at the scene smiling at the emotional bond that was being created.

Paradox looked at her and Adrien, and told them that they shouldn’t be afraid of fixing the damage now.

Even if the concepts are now fixed, no longer shattered, Paradox and the child concept will no longer be deleted. They will continue to exist, until the end.

With that, Paradox gave the two an exit to leave this plane, and they left.

And with that Marinette looked at her hands resolutely, knowing what she should do.

“Miraculous Re-Creation!”

Instead of the usual wave of ladybugs, what spread was a power of Creation sweeping everything.

The colors returned to the world, laws of physics no longer broken, dimensions no longer destroyed, and the gaping holes in the concepts fixing themselves, as the kwamies had finally reunited with their original concepts, no longer shattered.

Marinette smiled as her body detransformed, returning into a human, with Tikki gladly smiling alongside her.

Adrien detransformed, feeling completely strange as the perspective he’d gained when united made him really ponder on how he kept acting, and he promised himself to do better.

Time, Space, and the other concepts were now working properly, as they started fixing the damage dealt by their detoriation.

Memories of those outside Paris started returning, no longer derailed.

Weather started getting fixed, as the sun shined brightly, as if to express happiness.

The Cosmos was being fixed, no longer a mess, and it felt content now. It had accepted that this situation is the best, so there’s no more need to be aggressive.

It will watch things closely, sure, but for now, nothing is wrong, even with the existence of two new beings that it had never expected to be born.

Meanwhile, as this was happening, Paradox, as gently humming, as the child concept was slowly falling asleep, feeling completely exhausted, yet happy.

Finally, it felt safe.

Finally, it had attained the happiness it always desired.

And with this, the book of a story ends in a satisfactory finale, but then again, an ending of a story; is just the beginning of another.
