The Dance of Two Dragons

Summary:

Aemond Targaryen is of indubitable royalty; the son of King Viserys, First of His Name, and Alicent Hightower. As a member of House Targaryen, the ruling royal house of the Seven Kingdoms, and at the budding age of sixteen, much is expected of the boy; expectations of which he sees as a heavy burden placed upon him. But even with the name Targaryen—the House of Dragons—he does not yet feel like a dragon.

Is there someone that can fill that biding hole in his heart? And can that someone help Aemond achieve what he'd never thought possible?

Will he discover what it truly means to be a dragon?

NOTICE: This story is currently under some significant re-writes. Some changes may range from minor to major, and there will likely be disjointed dialogue/plot elements until completion of edits.

Notes:

Thank you guys for reading! This is my first fanfiction writing ever, so I'm pretty nervous on how it will be recieved. I kinda wrote this out of the blue, also, but I was thinking about writing this for a while so I just ended up doing it. I have decided to keep this story involved with the Dance, but it won't occur in the same way. But there will surely be death to come.

I marked this story as mature, just in case I want to get into more explicit territory, but I may not tread in that way. I am also going to try to add as much slice of life elements as much as possible; elements of such that fit into the Game of Thrones universe, that is.

For this story, I'm sort of imagining an older likeness of Leo Ashton (Young Aemond), and Elliot Grihault (Older Lucerys), since I don't want to go the Ewan route, and I want to keep these characters at similar ages, makes it far more comfortable for me to write. I'm also imagining the younger versions of the green characters (Ty Tennant as Aegon, Evie Allen as Helaena).

Once again, thank you all so much for reading, and let me know of any criticisms in the comments if you have some! I can't stress enough how much comments/reviews help out my writing. Even if it's just a small sentence, please take the time if you can.

Happy reading! :P 📚 📚 📚

Chapter 1: Beginner's Addition - Westeros Reference Map

Chapter Text

Reference map of the Seven Kingdoms!

I did not create this map, and I am not in any way claiming it as my own work. All the credit is to whoever created this wonderful map (seriously, fantastic job). This is a map of Westeros in 301 AC, after House Targaryen got booted from their ruling status after Robert's Rebellion against the Mad King in 282 AC, so there are a lot of noble houses on here that don't exist at the time of the Dance of the Dragons (129-131 AC) or are missing due to other historical events (House Reyne would still be here, for example). However, I think it is a quite useful map to place locations in Westeros, and to see most of the general allegiances. All of the ruling Great Houses present on this map are correct, in regard to the areas of the constituent regions that they each control respectively. Plus, I think it's very a colorful and nice map to look at. I just decided to put this here in the story in case it helps anyone's imagination perk up when thinking about Westeros, or they want to get a quick look at where the locations are in this story (Highgarden, Lannisport, Pyke, etc.); that's what this map does for me!

I assume it will also be helpful for those that are fairly new to the Game of Thrones universe, and don't have too big of a grasp on the locations. Think of it as a painted table reference of sorts! The moment someone creates a detailed map like this for the House of the Dragon (HOTD) era in 129 AC, I am going to replace this map.

I hope the new folks clicking on this for the first time enjoy reading this fanfiction! Now, onto the story! :)
