Chapter 2: We Are Always Living In The Present Tense.
Summary:
Huey is having a conversation with Launchpad.
Chapter Text
Sleep is not coming for Hubert Duck. He is on a camping trip with the Junior Woodchucks. Launchpad is waking up to the sound of a distressed camper. Huey is in tears, the events of the day Crownus attacked are fresh on his mind. He is opening his mouth to speak. "Launchpad, you've been sent to the future before, right? During the Timephoon?" Launchpad is confused.
"Buh?" His head is tiled to one side. Huey is sighing, this is mainly in an attempt to stop himself from bursting into tears.
"It's just that... I saw the future and I don't know what to do. I'm so scared and -" Huey is cutting himself off. "H-how do you deal with knowing what's going to happen?"
Launchpad is moving his head back up so that it is straight. He begins to kneel down. "I got lucky. The future I saw was soon. I was still really, very scared though." Huey is crying, Launchpad is continuing. "I didn't sleep at all that first night, I re-watched Darkwing Duck to calm myself down. But it got good." He is beaming at the small duckling in front of him.
Huey is crying harder. "It's more than that." He is taking in a deep breath. "Launchpad what do you do if you don't like what you see?" Launchpad is putting his hand on Huey's shoulder and shuffling so he is in a sitting position.
"Well, I did things differently. Bad stuff happened and it was different from what I saw. The world didn't end." Launchpad is holding a bawling Huey.
Huey continued to cry and process for a long time. It was 11pm when he finally returned to his tent. He did not get much sleep that night.
Chapter 3: Recovering and Moving From the Past.
Summary:
Huey found himself here of all places. He still wound up it thing god-forsaken box. The differences from what he witnessed bring no comfort. It seemed like everything changed for the worse.
Chapter Text
Huey was here, we has still here. He followed what Launchpad said, he made changes to his routine. Whenever his Deja vu became too strong he made as big of deviations to his routine as he could allow himself. He made bigger changes when he could. Yet he still wound up here alone in a white box. He wasn't dead like he thought he would be. He was captured by FOWL, not that that was any better.
To give Launchpad credit something was different. Huey wasn't just standing there. He was sobbing, whimpering. He felt so pathetic, he was supposed to be the mature one, yet he was crying like a baby. Everything he witnessed, had become aware of the day Zeus fell at his doorstep, flashed in his mind. He saw his own future, everyone else's, he wanted to scream. The sound caught in his throat when he tried.

Everyone stood together on a field. Hugging and congratulating each other once again. Not only for defeating FOWL, but surviving another crash. "You know Launchpad, you're right about things a surprising amount of the time." The snippet of conversation reminded Huey of the night he spoke to Launchpad about the future, about having seen it.
Nausea swirled in his gut as Huey thought about every future he saw. Fear of what he had seen mixed with the fear of uncertainty. A mortifying, devilish, truly awful cocktail. It was Louie who noticed how pale he had gone first. It was Dewey who took him by the hand and led him away from the group so the could sit down and be away from the din. It was both of them who hummed a lullaby and sat with their eldest brother. Neither of them asked why he was upset, why he seemed so scared. Both of them made sure he was ok.
Huey will get a good nights sleep for the first time in a while. He will tell his brothers everything. Webby will talk with him about how she fears the powers she had. Huey will know he won't face the unknown future alone.
