Chapter 1: The start
Chapter Text
"It has been rumoured many generations that a very special Yokai live here in this part of the shrine. His name is Tendou Satori the fire beast Yokai. He was known as strange person that lived just outside of the village all by himself at 16 as his family had left one day, leaving him behind with any word.
It is told that he defended the village, with his fantastic Sword skills, from a beast that went rampaging and exploded with the beast in a blaze.
Some have claimed to have seen him in the dead of night only one night every 3 years, roaming around looking for something but no one ever know what.
So that's why we have this festival on that very day every 3 years to honour his sacrifice and bravery to protect the village."
A multitude of small hands clapping together, everyone's eyes wide in awe at the story behind the Fire beast Yokai festival "That can't be true." the child sitting next to me says leaning back on his hands. I turn to look at him, scruffy Grey with black tipped hair and brown eyes stares back.
"You don't believe it do you.. Uh?" he points to me, before I speak quietly. "Ushijima Wakatoshi." I answered his unspoken question. "And I don't particularly believe it unless I was to see him, but it is a nice story regardless." I finished my reply to him as his face lit up. "Alright everyone you can go to lunch now." the kindergarten teacher called to the class of children riled up from such a exciting story, most of them would probably try to go find the Yokai on the day of the festival tomorrow. "Oh, My name is Semi Eita. Nice to me you Ushijima." we stand up to follow everyone outside, we shake hands. My face remains the same as it always is. Semi's head tilts to the side giving me a confused look.
"You don't smile much do you Ushijima?" he asked as we made our ways to the playground near by the shrine as they were on a school trip to learn about the special day. "Is that a problem?" I asked he only smiles more as we walk around just talking. "Nah it's okay, you don't have to smile for someone to tell weather you are having fun." he started again. "Sometimes all you have to do is just look in their eyes and you can just tell what they are feeling." I nod as a response, still walking not knowing where we are going.
I thought for a moment. 'Maybe Semi will be my friend.' and I got the courage to ask. "Would you like to come play Volleyball with me Semi?" I asked hopefully, looking at him still beside me. His eyes widen from what could only be excitement and shock. "You play Volleyball too." he said yes he was shocked. I nodded again. "Then yeah let's go Ushijima!" he says taking my hand and running over to the slab of concrete near the shrine. Ushijima a pulls out a Volleyball from his bag and throws it over to Semi.
The two of them had as much fun playing with a volleyball as they could with only two people. Soon it was time for them to leave.
"It's time to go home. Hey Ushijima do you want to hang out at the Festival tomorrow? We can meet at the Shrine." Semi says walking with me ask we both began walking home.
"Are you curious about The fire beast Yokai?" I asked turn to him hold keeping a hole of my backpack. He slightly nods. "Actually yeah, I just want to prove whether he is real or not." Semi says at matter of factly. "Okay Semi, I'll see you there then." Semi smiled back at Me and pointed out. "Wow you can smile Ushi!" Semi grins more.
*The next day*
"Come on Wakatoshi! We are leaving now!" The voice of my farther called from the door were him, and my mother and grandmother stood waiting for me to put my shoes on.
I follow them holding grandma's hand to the shrine where the festival is being held. It was all so pretty, the design of the decorations that were flames and pretty red flowers made it feel so warm, lights strung up alone all the food stalls and games glowing a orange and yellows.
The street that always seemed to empty, was now so lively, there were people everywhere.
"Wow isn't this lovely?" Grandma looked down at me in her pretty pink flower pattern kimono, with matching Flower pin in her grey hair. "Yes it is." I responded simply to her as we all kept walking avoiding the others around us some other children running around laughing together.
Soon my mother chimed in, "Why don't we get something to eat, Wakatoshi what do you want?" she asked, it was always easy to answer, because I always chose my favourite food. "Hayashi Rice." I say with out hesitation.
"Oh but you all ways have that, what about something different for once dear." Grandma stopped in front of me. "But I like it!" I tell her, she only sighs chuckling. "You will get sick of it one day if that's all you eat Wakatoshi-chan." she warned, I stare at her mentally telling her I wasn't going to change my mind.
"How about this. We will try find a stall that sells it, while you go play some games with you dad. Okay and if we can't find it, we'll get you some tokoyaki balls instead, okay." my mother says again. I gave up nodding to her and dad takes my hand from Grandma and we walk away to some stalls there are all kinds of games to play. Ring toss, water balloon filling and dart games too, all with toys and plushies most of which were themed around the festivals purpose.
Some were Pokémon and all kinds of Anime characters, and some were sports mascot including the Mascot for volleyball, I have lots of those at home. But there were also The beast from the story and a plush toy that looked like the hero with his sword.
"Ushijima!" I heard a voice behind us, my dad and I both look over our shoulder to see, Semi running through the crowd with a lady beside him. I wave to him and the eventually join us. "Hello, Semi!"
"Oh is this a friend of yours Wakatoshi?" my dad looks to Semi. "Yes we meet at the shrine yesterday." I tell him simply. "This is the friend you wanted to meet Eita, do you want to go play some games with him, if that's alright with his dad?" a tall lady with grey hair similar to Semi's says directed at my dad, who smiled telling it was fine. She walks off after telling him where to meet after they were done. Waving goodbye.
Soon we walked around together. Dad pointed out to a few games and we played them, and well all I can say was that either of us ever won at any of them, but it didn't upset me at all. But Semi lost his temper at some before we moved on to the next. "One more game before we will go find you mother and grandma okay?" he says to me, I smile up at my dad, nodding.
"One more game before we will go find you mother and grandma okay?" he says to me, I smile up at my dad, nodding
We got to the last one we wanted to try and we won, I got a bag tag of the volleyball mascot. Because you can never have to much of a one thing. And Semi got a plushie of the fire beast. Soon we met back up with Mine and Semi's mum, they got to met and exchanged contacts. Grandma took my hand walking away from my mum and dad as I heard them raise their voices at each other.
"Oh, can we go to the shrine now to, see if he will show up!" Semi says to his mother excitedly. She chuckles telling him he can and he takes my hand saying we would be back soon. We made our way over to the shrine where we were the previous day. "Here we are." he says, it's a lot quieter here then down the stairs to where the festival ground is. "It is quite pretty from up here." I speak my mind he nods smiling happily. We sat at the top step looking down. We sat in silence for a few minutes before he spoke again.
"Do you think the Yokai will actually show up?" Semi asked before Ushijima could answer a rustling from a nearby bush made Semi go quiet again.
They both turn to the sound when a small figure stepped out of the bushes that surround the kids. They suddenly stand in that they might have to run. blinking for a moment, and standing there was another boy in front of them.
The boy in question, had short straight red hair, large dark eyes. He was skinny and fair skinned, that looked almost white in a dark purple kimono. He stood back in shocked to see the other boys and Semi getting scared hid behind Ushijima.
"H-hello, Who are you?" the small voice of the strange looking boy sounded. He looked scared as well.
The olive haired boy decided to step towards the red head and Semi only gasped letting go of him. "Hello, I'm Ushijima Wakatoshi." he says and held out his hands to the other. He looked at him Ushijima's hand and then back at his face before reaching out his hand out too.
Ushijima flinch a bit at his touch, "Your hands are so cold." Ushijima says holding the skeptic boys hand in his own gentle hand, shaking. The unnamed boy went to pull it away again, but he Ushijima holds it tight. "It's okay I don't mind." he seemed to have relaxed after those words were spoke and he smiled a bit too, "Okay, Wakatoshi-kun." the boy spoke, which Ushijima returned a gentle grin. 'His voice his kind of pretty.' Ushijima though to himself.
They shake hands and let go, when he noticed Semi lingering behind the taller boy. Staring curious and cautiously at Semi with his Cherry eyes he looks back to Ushijima with out a word, both his hands held to his chest defensively looking nervous.
"That's my friend." he say to the skinny boy, and going over to Semi grabbing his hand and leading them to each other. "Uh, hi I'm Semi Eita." he holds a shake hand out to the redhead, seeming unsure of him.
The boy breaths in glancing up at Ushijima. "Semi Semi!" He smiled to tell him it was okay, and his eyes widen more then they did naturally. "What's your name?" Semi asked the boy shaking hands with each other. He looked like he didn't want to answer, but breaths in deeply muster the courage to.
"M-my name is Tendou Satori." his voice quiet but we had both heard him clearly.
"L-like the Fire beast Yokai?" Semi exclaimed, holding out the prize he won from earlier. The boy claiming to be Tendou, eyes widen again but seemed to understand still. "Uh, yes. Well I'm not at the age I was when I got that name." Tendou explains, opening up a little bit to the other children. Tendou stuck his hand out to the plushie and pat its head like a cat. "Wait if your really him, why do you look like a child? Weren't you 19 when you defeated the Beast?" Semi shuffled to sit closer to the other. "Uh, I don't know what happened? This is the first time this happened to me."
"Yeah and you look nothing like what people say you looked." Semi says starting to get excited to talk to Tendou. Ushijima smiled to himself as they sat together he opened his mouth to say something about that too but Semi kept talking so he didn't talk. The two talking about all kinds of things under the light of the moon. Ushijima sat listening to the two talk and pulled out his games prize looking at it and pulled out a pen from his pocket to write his name on the bag tag smiling to himself when done. Talkative Tendou looked to Ushijima as the conversation between him and Semi died down. "Hey Wakatoshi-kun, what's that you have?" Tendou asks pointing to the tag. "Oh, this is a Bag tag of the Volleyball mascot." he answered handing the tag over to the other so while could look at it better. "Oh, this looks cool. But."
"What's Volleyball?" he asked again. "It's a cool sport we're you can't hold or carry the ball and you hit over the net devising the two teams of 6 playing. And the team on the other side of the net tries to stop the ball from hitting the ground otherwise you team gets the point." Semi explains for Ushijima, who only nodded in agreement. Tendou hands the bag tag back to Ushijima, and he places it next to him on the ground instead of back into his pocket.
Soon though a voice from the bottom of the stairs called, startling us all and Tendou hid away, as the lady from before was walking up. "Eita, it's time to leave now." Semi's mum as she came into view. "Do I have to?" Semi wines to his mum, but she only laughs and tells him to say goodbye. He waved as he was dragged down from the shrine. "See you at school Ushijima!" I stayed quiet waving back until he was gone out of site. Ushijima blinks, glancing around back to where Tendou hid, poking his head from the pillar. "Who was that?" Tendou asked slowly making his way back to him. "That was Semi's mum, he had to go home now." Ushijima told him blankly.
"Why did Semi Semi have to leave?" Tendou's head tilt to the side. His red hair falls with his head movements, he continued toward Ushijima standing in the light of the moon, together. "Because we have school tomorrow." Ushijima says bluntly to the red head. Tendou's eyes looked up to Ushijima, before frowning looking away fiddling with his fingers.
"But I don't want to leave." Ushijima stares at his feet. "Why is that Wakatoshi-kun?" Tendou cox his head to the side with one brow raised. "My mother and farther are always fighting about something, sometimes it's over silly things like purposefully not going to look for a Hayashi Rice stand for me." He exhaled the started again.
"Hayashi Rice is my favourite dish, I ask for it every time." he sighed lifting his head again to Tendou, still playing with his fingers.
"Oh. I'm sorry that happened Wakatoshi-kun." Tendou gave him a sadden expression stepping closer. "What about you Tendou. What's your favourite food?" Ushijima asked simply. Tendou gladly answers. "Chocolate, I think it's called. I had gotten offerings of all kinds but I liked the chocolates the best." He smiled at Ushijima, who took a mental note to get Tendou some chocolate on his future visits to the shrine. It was silent for a few seconds before Tendou spoke up again.
"Wakatoshi-kun, do you think you could come back tomorrow, to see me again?" the skinny, shorter boy questions fumbling with the waist tie from his Kimono, facing away shyly.
Ushijima was taken back a bit. No one, but Semi, had asked to see him again. He didn't have many friends so it was a nice feeling, to hear Tendou say.
"I will try my best to Tendou!" Ushijima took a step towards the other, reaching and taking a hold of both his hands, and the sudden action shocked the timid boy. His head whipped back to Ushijima who only smiled lightly back.
Both of them standing in the moon rays, and shining down on them. Tendou's eyes lighting up at the site of the other in front of him, staring in awe as the moon highlighted the olive hair and brown eyes of... His friend? Something of which Tendou never had in his previous life.
"Pretty" they both whispered together, enchanted by the sites of each other.
Ushijima could feel a heat raise to his checks when he noticed he was staring into the sweet, cherry coloured eyes of the little Yokai boy, for longer then was normal. It's only raised further to his ears when he felt their hands squeeze together as their fingers had intertwined. Tendou's gaze followed the others eyes down to their small hands and a flash of pinky red rest on his face. Ushijima's eyes glancing up at Tendou, his eyes stuck in a trance with glittering red staring back. Mouths agape at the sites of each.
Tendou's lips curled upwards giving the biggest smile Ushijima has seen from him that night. "You promise to come see me again!" was the last thing he heard from the swaying red hair, cherry eyes and fair skinned Yokai boy, "Yes." as the next thing he heard was the voice of his parents yelling from the start of the stairs. He looked down to them, just like always. He sighs, turning to look back at Tendou. But to his surprise Tendou was gone from sight. The hands he was hold close to him disappeared from his grips. Letting a gasp out of shock.
"Tendou?" he frowns, searching around, a little tight feeling in his chest with a loss of breath. "Wakatoshi it's time to leave!" my mother called. 'But I don't want to leave.' he though looking to his parents waiting on him for moments, staring back and forth over his shoulder waiting to see if he was really gone. But there was no sign of the dazzling face he stared into moments ago. With a quiet exhaled he forces himself to trudged down the stairs letting his grandma take his hand as they left the Shrine.
Staring back sadly to atop of the stairs. That was the last time he saw the other boy.

Chapter Text
*The next day - Tendou's pov*
He watch as the people near the shrine walk around, searching while staying out of sight. "Wakatoshi-kun, is coming to see me today." he said to himself, happily skipping around at the top of the stairs watching and waiting.
The thought of seeing his first friend again brought a smile to the little Yokai boy's face. He had manifested earlier that afternoon. The sky was now starting to get darker and soon the sun would set.
Soon he went to sit at the top of the stairs as the amount of people walking by became fewer and fewer. As he sat down he noticed something on the ground. He picked it up for a closer look.
Only to find it was a bag tag, more specifically Ushijima's Volleyball bag tag from the previous night. "Oh he must be missing this, I'll give it to him when gets here." Little Yokai Tendou was so excited to finally have a friend, that he counted the seconds till he got see him again.
Seconds turned to minutes. Minutes turned to hours. He stopped counting as the sun was now setting on the horizon and the moon had come out but it wasn't so bright like the night before.
It wasn't the shining light that landed on him and Ushijima's face lighting his features to make his chocolate eyes glitter. No, the moons light on this night was dull covered by dark clouds. The moon didn't even brighten anything at all, not even the around that surrounded the shrine where the boy now lived.
It sent a wave of disappointment and false hope through him, when he realized the pretty olive haired friend wasn't coming. Tendou looked down at the bag tag in his small ghostly hands, gripping it tightly to his chest in despair.
"He's just like everyone else, they all leave me." Tendou lowered his head into his knees. His bottom lip trembling and the tears formed in the corners of his eyes. Then they fell down his red cheeks. "He promised me." he spoke softly with a hint of anger in his small voice.
The boy begins to frown. "I'll never talk to anybody ever again." rubbing his tears away standing up and disappearing off into the air leaving the Shrine, with the lanterns still alight, empty. Taking the tag with him.
Moments later the sound of footsteps echoed though the big under covered areas, as they rushed up to the top to see the shrine.
Panting the little figure stops when they got there. Having caught his breath, head whipped up and around trying to catch sights of the one he promised to meet again. "Tendou?" he called out to empty shrine.
"I'm sorry I'm late. I had to convince my mum to let grandma bring me here." his attempts to explain gone unheard. He sat down thinking.
'Maybe he is just the one late.'
Ushijima sat down patiently waiting, to see the locks of red poke out from behind a pillar.
But it never happened. He waited for hours sitting calmly occasionally looking around the shrine and calling to Tendou. But the boy never showed up to greet him like they promised. "Maybe it's true that it's only on that day every 3 years, that he shows up?" he asked himself.
He would have stayed forever to see the red head again if it wasn't for his grandma calling out to him. "Wakatoshi-chan! Time to go your farther is here to pick you up now." His shoulders slumped, letting his breath out, he stands taking one last look around as he remembered he had left his Bag Tag prize somewhere there. But he couldn't find it, so he just left.
Ushijima looked over his shoulder sadly one last time, for awhile to come, and joined his grandmother. Walking back to her house where his dad's car was sat outside in the driveway, where he saw his dad had noticed them and waved childishly.
"Oh my, he sure is your son Kaiochen." Grandma giggle to herself. "Your father is such a child, Wakatoshi-chan." she smiled down at him. Ushijima hum in agreement.
Kaiochen was his grandfather, but he died just after Wakatoshi was born 6 years ago.
They finally got to the house, his dad swooped him up into his arms. "Hey kiddo, did you find what you were looking for. You were up there for ages, surly you did?" he tilts his head at the little boy.
'Just how Tendou did when I saw him first.'
I shake my head slightly, upset but I wasn't going to cry, I didn't get my hopes to high just in case it happened again. Just like it did. But I was still a little bit sad.
'Another chance for a new friend gone. I have no way of talking to him again, to meet up another time.'
I buried my head into my dads shoulder, and felt the water piling up in my eyes. I said I wouldn't, but I felt so. Just sad.
"Oh I'm sure we can get you another Voba-chan tag." Dad says stroking my hair softly. I shake my head. "No, what I lost was more precious then some bag tag." I looked up at him, a light sob escaped my mouth. "Oh kiddo. It'll be alright." dad says holding me tighter. My cries muffled into his shoulder again.
"Okay, I think it's about time we got you home for some left over, Hayashi Rice before bed?" his eye brows raised at me. I only hugged my dad's neck more, nodding again. "You spoil him to much Takashi."
"Ppsh, it's fine mother. Alright we're leaving now." He waved his hand in front of his face. "Dad, can we come back to the festival every time. And to the shrine everyday." He stared down at me shocked by my requests.
"Well maybe not everyday. Wakatoshi, you still want to play volleyball right?" he quizzed, I nod knowing he was right. "Well how about 2 days a week and Volleyball every other day? " I bargained. "Alright son, 2 days a week, you choose what days tomorrow okay?" He walks us to the car sitting me in the back. "Okay dad. Thank you." I closed my eyes breathing out.
The car ride home wasn't to long. When we got back, just like promised dad reheated some left over Hayashi rice for us to eat and he tucked me into bed. "Get a good sleep Wakatoshi-chan." and the door closes half way. I pulled the blanket over my nose, staring up at the ceiling for what felt like hours, until my eyes droop to a close and fall unconscious.
*12 years later*
It was all dark and feeling of weightlessness as I sat there in the void. "Wakatoshi-kun!" the echoing voice of an angel gracing my ears. I hold my breath. Eyes snapped open.
There he was.
Tall, fair and sparkling. Dark cherry's stares. Long blood red floating hair.
Slender fingers grace my face and gentle touch with over my cheeks and Lips. The smile that haunted me for so many years.
"Tendou?" I say, but the words never sound from my lips.
His hands danced to embrace his arms around my neck. Pulling me in close to him. Breathing heavily as the flush finds itself on his face and same as my own.
"Wakatoshi-kun." his voice is soft and seductive, as our faces close, lips near to connecting, sending shivers down my back.
My heart melting into him as I he stroked his fingers through my hair, I took hold of his waist, closing the painful space between us. And...
"Ushijima-San!" *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* "Hey you ready to go yet Ushijima?" I blink at the sound of my friends voices. Sitting up with a gasping, grabbing my chest tightly. Blinking a few times while trying to slow my breath I looks around remembering that I was in my dorm room. 'That dream again.'
I shake my head, making my way out of bed, leaning down to pick up my shirt, putting it on and shuffling over to the door. Opening it too find my childhood friend Semi and Goshiki my volleyball teammate and Kouhai.
"Ushijima-san, that's strange for you to be late for practice on weekends, you missed breakfast. What kept you?" Goshiki rambled, a sharp pain hit in my head. "Apologies Goshiki, I guess I haven't been feeling all to well." I told them as I step aside to them both into the room. I groan rubbing my head, Semi turns to me, worried.
"It's that dream again, isn't it?" He spoke up, resting a hand on my shoulder, I only shake my head slightly. But I could tell he wasn't convinced with my lack of a proper response.
"Wakatoshi, we are still growing teenagers, it's perfectly normal to have dreams of the people you like, in that way." Semi whispered to me as he stopped, grabbing my other shoulder making my body face him. I still refused by hiding my face from my best friend and Kouhai as the red found its resting place there, revealing my deep feelings.
"Dream? You had a dream Ushijima-san? What's it about?" Goshiki asked curiously, which I found a little cute that he looked up to me so much, wanting always to know more.
'I guess I would consider Goshiki my friend, as well as some other members from the team.'
"Oh, Goshiki. It's not so much of a dream you can share with just anyone." Semi become flustered trying to explain, but I held my hand up to stop him and he did. "It was about a...Friend from way back when I was a child."
"Wait, you said that Semi-san was your only friend as a child?" His head titled in confusion, chin resting in his hand.
'Just like Tendou did. The head titling, hair brushing down with him.'
I sigh thinking about the red hair haunting my life. "I didn't really tell anyone, because it hurts to talk about." I explained turning to them, Semi gives me an understanding look and Goshiki lowers his head, with both his arms tighten on his sides.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to bring back painful memories Ushijima-san." I rub my eyes of sleep, in the corner of my eyes. "That's alright Goshiki, you didn't know." Semi pat his back and lead themselves out of the room.
"We'll let you get dress for the day and meet at the cafeteria for lunch." Semi waved as they shuffled out. I huffed out my breath and wiped the ghosting tears.
"Hey, Wakatoshi. If you wanna talk about it more at lunch, maybe tell the team a little bit about why your gone in the afternoons so much. This past week especially." Unexpected, I heard Semi's voices, popping back into my room. I saw his face smiling sadly over my shoulder. He scratched his head looking down..
"Everyone and coach, have been a little worried about their captain. So that's the least you should give them." He advised nodding then disappearing again his voice heard down the hall. "Just make sure you come to lunch."
I look down after my door closed behind me. "Semi is right." I sigh looking to my bed, both pillows were on the ground and blanket all a mess. I shuffled over to pick them but and made my bed, then searching for my phone down the side the bed frame. Once I found it, fully charged, checking the time on the screen. '11:35am'
'No time for a shower right now. I'll probably miss lunch if I did.'
I said to myself in my head, walking over to the draws, opening the top one and grabbing out a deodorant can and I spraying it over my cloths. I then went to my door, before placing a hand on the handle, I had a sudden thought.
'Should I tell them? How would that even help me? Is this something I need help with? What even is it that I need help with?'
Confusion was all he was left with the questions rushing in his head. This wasn't volleyball, it wasn't something he could just ask help with like practicing a new move or something.
*Lunch Time - Semi's POV*
I walk in silence down the hall from the dorms with Goshiki and Reon, just coming out of his room joined us to the cafeteria, where a lot of other students sat at the abundance of tables in the large area. Looking to my left Goshiki's face clear with the expression of deep in thought. It's not often you catch him like that, so it had me wonder what he was thinking about.
My questions soon answered when he suddenly stated, "Ushijima-san has been kind of quiet and distant from everyone lately." Thinking out loud with his hands rubbing against his chin.
I sigh feeling like I should say something, but decide against it. "I would like to say why his behaviours had suddenly changed, but It's not my place to tell you guys."
I turned to him as we continued to the line up to pay and get our lunches. "Come to thinking of it, that's not too different from his usual behaviour." Reon says in line behind me. "What do mean sempai?"
"Well, 2 days a week he leaves the school around late afternoons. You never noticed that?" He questions Goshiki, whose face formed to his thinking face again, seemingly more confused more then before.
"Now you say it, He does, I wonder if it has something to do with that friend he mentioned back in his room before." Goshiki answers facing me. I just shrug
'Well yeah, it is about him. But no one else really knows that.'
As we find our ways to the table where most of the team sits together on a regular basis.
It's nice to spend time that isn't practice with the team. It gives me the chance to get a bit closer to Shirabu too. We approached the table and some of the team together siting there already was, Akakura next to him Sagea two of the first years that recently joined, but hadn't been able to do anything but watch official games and practice.
On the far end of the table seeming trying to separate himself was, Shirabu Kenjiro. The second year who stole, my position as main Setter and, my heart.
I smiled to myself as I walked around the table to take my seat next to him, placing the tray down before he could say anything against it, when he looked up noticing me. "Hey BuBu, you not hungry?" I leaned my chin on my hand, elbow resting on the table as I had notice he was pushing his fork into what little food was on his tray to begin with.
His head whipped towards me with a scowl. "I told you not to call me that around others Semi." I giggle seeing the pink tint in his cheeks.
"1, We both know you like it when I do. 2, None of them will notice, their too busy talking about Volleyball and 3, It's just cute." I told as the blush raised hotter on his cheeks, I stare in admiration at this kid a year younger then me, that I found I loved with my whole being.
He knows, I confessed to him not too long ago actually. But we both agreed, not to date till we were both 1 year graduated.
But a little flirting here and there didn't hurt. It seemed to keep us both reassured that we would keep that promise until then. "Stop staring Semi, people might give us weird looks." Shirabu says shyly snapping me from my thoughts of him.
"I'm not sure if I really care about that y'know? Let them stare." I whispered I take my hand to the cutlery on my tray and began eating. He only scoffs in response and finally takes a bite of his food.
My attention is take away from the bronze haired, when I turn my eyes to see Wakatoshi approaching the table with a tray in hand.
'Thank the gods he is finally out of his room, I was starting to get really worried.'
I thought as he sat across from me and nodded as everyone greeted him cheerfully. "Hey glad you decided to get out of that room Wakatoshi." I say shoving the chopsticks of rice into my mouth.
"Ushijima, I heard from Goshiki you weren't feeling well." Reon says looking to us. He nods to the others, "I'm sorry if I worried you, but I seem to be feeling much better." Wakatoshi says and started eating from his tray. "It's alright we're just glad your okay." Reon smiled, which the Oliver haired boy returns, but his eyes.
Ushijima's face usual just flat, he doesn't smile much, so his eyes are the one thing you can tell how he's feeling. And right now, he seemed to be not all there in his head right now. his eyes slightly sunken, starring off to somewhere but nowhere at the same time. He wasn't alright.
"Whaaat Ushijima-san not feeling well, doesn't sound like him." a voice from the end of the table caught our attention. He laughs to himself when everyone stared at him.
"Woah! Tensei-san what did you do to your hair?" Goshiki calls out what we were all thinking, pointing right at the other.
Our number 5, Tensei Yumai 3rd year, the amazing Middle Blocker. Usually seen with long black hair that sat down on his shoulders, the tied up for practice and matches. Now it was up, wavey spike and a flaming red.
Similar to how Wakatoshi, who seemed especially shocked, would describe the appearance of the friend that showed up in his dreams.
'Yeesh, I wonder how this will end up like.'
"Oh. I'm glad you noticed Tsutomu-chan." He says sitting down "I dyed and styled it, what do you think? I'll get lots of attention with a look like this." Tensei laughs causally, placing his tray between Wakatoshi and Reon.
Wakatoshi, unnoticeably to the others, moved his chair over to get farther away from Tensei.
I could tell over the course of Tensei joining the club, he has been trying to get close to Wakatoshi, who unconsciously was becoming more uninterested in the attention he was getting from the now red head. Wakatoshi was just to polite and just a little oblivious to tell the other to leave him alone.
We all talked a bit about somethings here and there, sometimes Volleyball and about keeping an eye on what Karasuno at Nationals this year after our defeat and others just normal teenage stuff like school work and relationships.
Ushijima the same as he always has, sat listening sometimes staring off in his own little world. He probably had a lot in his mind, trying to find a way to apologize to everyone for being absent from practice.
While telling a tall-story to the group, I notice Tensei taking glances over at Ushijima, who was looking at his phone screen in deep concentration.
And the red head finally finishing his story, leans over and rests his arm on Ushijima's shoulders startling him.
"OOOh what this Ushijima-san, A festival coming up?" He asked, Ushijima looking up at him for a moment before nodding.
"Yes the Fire Beast Yokai Festival. It is on every 3 years." Everyone attention now on them.
"Wow, I didn't know you liked festivals? That's so unlike you." Tensei laughs. No one else was laughing, no they just seemed curious about this festival.
Because they all never seemed to of heard of it before. "I attend with Semi and our families every year since I was 6." He tells them. Something he hadn't told most of them before.
"Woah you have know each other for that long?" Tensei asked again tilting his head smiling curiously, his hands keeping head his up.
"Yeah the day before that festival that year we met at the shrine on a field trip. That's also the first time we played Volleyball together" I explained
blah blah blah Tensei says they should all go as a team thing, Goshiki saying he would invite Koganegawa that he met at the mock training camp for 1st years.
After the festival was mentioned, Ushijima goes off stuck in his head. "I shouldn't be thinking about all that, I have to be thinking about volleyball." And he had suddenly just left the table leaving his tray with half his food still left.
"Alright somethings off here." Tensei says curiously, watching as the olive haired boy leaves out the doors from the cafeteria.
Some nod in agreement. I look at his eyes. Ushijima wasn't the only ones eyes that never lied. Tensei had the same.
He looked okay on the outside. But his eyes looking in. Starring down at the floor, slightly droopy eyelids.
"Right it is unusual for him to just leave his stuff here like this or just leave so suddenly." Reon says with a hand on his chin as if he was thinking.
Sad. Tensei Yumai, something to do with Ushijima leaving quickly made him upset, and he soon too cleaning up Ushijima's and his own Tray.
*1 hour later - Ushijima's POV*
'Wakatoshi-Kun!' his voice echoes in his Brain. Wheeling the ball cart out to the fully set net.
"Should I go to the shrine again?" He asked himself aloud. Sure he could, sit there on those steps again and wait.
For his beautiful Redheaded friend.
Ushijima closed his eyes.
There he stood again. So close to him, floating with in touching range. Fairest skin he has ever seen. Long soft wavey hair. "Tendou." He spoke softly to nothing.
Starring dreamily as he reaches out the daydream Youkai boy took hold of his hand pulling him in close. Ushijima's hands resting one around his boney waist covered by the same purple Kimono he wore that day. The other gently holds his cheek, rubbing his thumb on his smooth cheeks.
Taking glances at his thin lips. "Wakatoshi-kun." The voice whines almost a moan. "Miss you, Tendou." His own quivers. The redhead giggles as he phases out of his arms. Glancing up to him, The Youkai boy floats away faster from him.
Ushijima stepped forward reaching out. "No! Don't go." The giggling continued but the voice getting pitched. Higher and higher till there was only a ringing in his ears-
As he yells desperately running after him. "Please don't leave!" His eyes snapped open, breathing heavily as he glaces around for any sign of his friend.
"Oh. That's right." Nothing. Just him in the desolate gym with volleyballs.
He let out a slight shakey breath, throwing up the ball that he was gripping tightly in his hands.
Taking a few steps back, running forward, jumping. Swinging his arm as the ball lands in the perfect position to slam it down hard as it reaches over to the other side of the net.
Doing this a few more times before a voice booms in through the gym.
"Hey! Captain." Behind him, he heard the voice of Tensei, "Mind if I join you?" He jogs over to the other, grabbing a ball from the cart and tossing it up a few times.
Ushijima seemed hesitant about letting him join. "I was just Solo practice to make up for this morning." He tells him, looking away with a ball still held in his hands.
"Oh come on, I bet you have had practice with each for our teammates alone. Why not me!?" The redhead whines to his teammate.
Ushijima was left in thought. 'Why now? And why bother me?'
"I guess if you put it that way." he seemed defeated, glancing away from the loud red head.
"Come on I'll throw some for ya, we gotta stay top of our game right, even if we are close to graduating." No response.
"That Karasuno team, I had fell we'd face them, never expect to loose though. I wish I could have played more before I decided to leave Japan."
It was quiet for a few spikes. As the tension in the air thicken. Ushijima stuck in his thoughts.
He didn't know what to say to the other boy. Should he ask more about why he was leaving the country? What he was going to do after Highschool?
Is it even his business to ask about?
Until Tensei decided to speak up.
"So, where have you been this week. Right after dinner you are gone from school for a few hours. Then come back to the dorms with dead flowers." Tensei asked setting up another ball for him.
"You got a secret girlfriend or...?"
He jumped up and smashed the ball down to the other side of the ball court." That's not yo-" Ushijima stopped in his tracks.
He thought about what Semi said to him about, telling his teammates, about Tendou.
"I was visiting a someone. But they didn't show up."
Explain it, Because they were worried about him.
"A cereal Flaker huh. I just hate that, don't you?" Tensei growls at that Flaker?
"Flaker?" Ushijima turns to him with a confused expression.
Tensei raised a brow at him, like it was simple, common, social language that was used all the time.
"That's someone who plans to do things with you often, but at last minute say they can't make it or never even show up and don't explain why." He explains for Ushijima, who nods as he thought for a moment.
"Oh. I guess they kind of are that."
"That makes me so angry when it happens to me. And trust it happens a lot... That's why... I... I can't keep friends. They flake and I stop talking to them. Because how can I trust someone who promises to hang out... But they leave me hanging without a word of reasoning why. " Tensei's suddenly shaken voice heard as he looks down at the volleyball in his hand. Ushijima looked over at him a little surprised.
In Ushijima's experience as his teammate for the 3 years they have know each.
Tensei has not been this vulnerable looking in front of anyone, ever.
He was always cheerful and loud, with big expressive poses and faces.
"Volleyball is the only thing that makes me happy, with my friends. You guys. My team mates. I know I can trust you to not leave me hanging when we play match's." Crouching down, he hid his face in his hands.
There, this was different. He was small, hunched over, and his expression was almost unreadable hiding, with a dull and quiet voice.
Ushijima held out a hand to the other. Helping him back up to his feet.
"I will try my best to not leave you hanging Tensei. And if I do, I will do what I can to explain to you what happened for that to happen."
Tensei looks up with slightly watery eyes. He seemed to be deciding on weather he could trust Ushijima.
And decided for it. Taking the hands held out to him smiling again. "Thank you."
The two practice another hours before Reon finds them and calls to them for a break for the day. They agreed going back to the dorms to shower and change into clean cloths, studying in Thier own rooms and soon dinner started at the Cafeteria.
Seeing everyone again for dinner. They talked more about the upcoming festival.

Chapter Text
It's just as Wakatoshi remembered it. Full of people and venders, the warm colors from lantern and the bomb fire that always stationed at the middle of the grounds.
Though this times was a little different for him and Semi. As the whole Shiratorizawa Volleyball team had gotten together for the event with a few +1s.
Which wasn't that many +1s. Goshiki insisted that he bring Koganegawa, the setter from Date Tech. Well that was about it, besides Semi's family, who everyone seemed excited to meet.
His two sisters were excited to meet them too. As a group, they went around ohing and arhing at the site of their captains childhood memories of this festival.
The only difference this year for Wakatoshi, was his own family unable to get together for it. Mum and dad had split up years ago and his grandmother had past away 2 year prior. Mum was too busy going on dinner dates for work and trying to find a new husband and his dad, well he was overseas in America.
"Soooo... What should we eat, I'm starving." The bouncy red head's stomach growled and he rushed off over to a Takoyaki stall not waiting up for anyone, but one of the others, Soekawa, chasing after him with a smile on his face, standing close to to the red head, who was a little surprised to see him but welcomed it.
"Well, you all can go find yourself some food and meet back over there." Ushijima points out over at a number of tables some families were already eating at. "Okay!" And everyone was off in groups Ohira, Yamagata and Kawanishi and the others. Yunohama, Shibata, Umeda and Suzuki, leaving Akakura and Sagae to their own accords, they didn't mind much.
Semi laughs as he gave his sisters permission for them to go off with Goshiki and the Date tech's setter, much to the setters visible dismay. Just leaving Himself, Ushijima and Shirabu just who lagged a few steps behind them. Semi looking away from his light brown haired crush, to talk to Ushijima.
The stone faced teen seemed worried, which made him worry. "Are you okay coming back here, after all the years of him no-"
"I'm sure Eita. I have a feeling that he will come back this year." Despite his worry about the event, Ushijima was optimistic. "Okay... And what about Tensei, you know it looks like he really wants to hang out with you lately?"
"What about Tensei?" he asked, confused as to why his dear friend would have any reason to bring the other up to him on this night.
"Uh, just... Don't be so hard on him all the time okay." Semi looks away staring back behind him Shirabu glancing around with a rare expression of curiosity and delight making the sliver haired setter smile.
"What do you mean by that Eita?" Ushijima questions again.
"No never mind, lets just find some food." Semi just shakes his head and points over at one of the food stalls that looked just like all the others with warm colour, lanterns and those strings of flags hanging from one stall to another, which Semi recently found out was called a bunting flags pennant strings.
They soon found what they wanted to eat and met back up with the rest of the team in the designated spot.
Everyone had fun talking and play around on the game stalls all around the place but it was getting closer to the end of the night. Soon they had to leave, as some of the stall owners were closing their tents down waving their goodbyes to their friends and neighbors until the next time.
All standing around the fire in the middle of the square. The team all relaxed around it, as the time passes, Ushijima found himself thinking of a certain guy as he starred down the flame.
He was so concentrated on him that his mind stared to give him flashing images of his dream while he was wise awake, just going off into his own world. Soo the flashes became a solid 3d projection of sweet youkai he had met so long ago. The one he he rarely knew, yet missed ever so dearly. A pang in his chest struck painfully as the figure he imagined from his dreams, in the whitest kimono and Obi belt wrapping around his waist showing a the slight curves in his pale body, skin so pale almost glittering from the light, there upon his head of the lushest blood red locks, a heaven crown.
The figure of the Yokai teen floats close to the man lost in a daydream, reaching a hand out to caress him cheek, a smile that lightened up his hold world, his heart warm and full by the site of him, but he was just out of the stone faced teens grips. So he to reaches out in front of him, desperate to hold and feel his love, trying to grab the Yokai, he starts move forward.
"Ushijima!"
But then it's gone. It's become dark again as the flames in front of him have died low. Ripped away from his lovey dream, right before he could touch him. "Ushijima. Are you okay?"
Whipping his head to make eye contact with the voice that had been calling him. It's Tensei again. The red head's expression showed he was worried or scared, and beside him Semi held the same expression. "I almost had him." Ushijima glanced between the two, breathing hard for a moment shaking his head with a frown. The two were confused, Tensei gazing to Semi who shrugs his shoulders, looking back to the Ace.
"I have to go." He says ignoring the red next to him, and turns running in the direction of the steps to the shrine. He just had to see The Fire beast Yokai again, the one they called Tendou Satori.
Semi told everyone to go ahead home to the school, as he had to go and keep up their tradition of visiting the Shrine, Semi saying goodbye to his sisters and Mum, the teen made his way after the Ace, up the sets of stairs where they first met the redhead boy know as The Fire Beast Yokai. Someone they haven't seen for all these years, hopefully he showed this time.
It was 10 to 12 am when Semi gave up waiting with Ushijimai, he pat his friends shoulder as he could see the sparkling hope in his eyes loosing it's light. "Please don't stay out too late Wakatoshi." Semi decided on going back to school with most of the rest of the team.
Ushijima Wakatoshi waited for Tendou at the Shrine. He waited counting every second that went by. 12:35am he looks at his phone, his head drooped a little, closing his eyes to think.
"He's coming I know he is. He has to. It's been too long since I seen him last."
Little did the big teen know, hiding behind a pillar watching from afar.
A soft pitter patter of a pair of sneakers climbing the stairs below him, went unnoticed until.
"Huh? Wakatoshi." Ushijima sitting on the steps of the shrine by himself hears the voice of his teammate. Hearing his name being called like that, made his breath disappear for a moment.
'It's just Tensei.' disappointment struck him.
He thought to himself when looking up to the red head. "Hello Tensei, I would appreciate if you didn't do that." Ushijima says finally, after the other had let himself sit next to Ushijima, the latter tensing up when he did.
Checking the time on his phone to avoid looking into the others eyes.
12:42am
Tensei looked to his left, one brow raised in confusion to his captain. "What? Sneak up on you?" He rests his hand on his chin now staring at Ushijima with a slight smirk. "I don't want you calling me by my first name." Ushijima states bluntly to the other, who was eyes widen a bit hearing that. "O-oh, sorry Ushijima." Tensei looks away shuffling his body away from him just a bit, both staying quiet for a bit, before Tensei began to speak up again.
"D-did I, do something to make you upset with me Ushijima." Ushijima glances over to him breath hitching in surprise, Tensei didn't look back, staring down at the festival below with less people walking around, as it was getting closer to midnight.
Shocked to hear that his teammate thinks he was upset with him, "No, why would you think that Tensei?" He asks placing a hand on his team mates shoulder. Tensei didn't move before closing his eyes, sighing. "You have been... unfriendly and cold to me, pretty much since I joined the club." He started, changing from his siting position to pulling his legs up to hug them with both arms, chin now on his knees.
"Semi told me that you weren't like that to anyone else when I brought it up to him. I could see that, you let everyone but me call you, by your first name." the red hair teen sitting next to him sighs through his nose. "Is that like something I have to earn, or do you just not like me?" the tears welling up from the corners of Tensei's eyes now.
Ushijima was taken aback to hear that. He didn't intend to make it seem he had a problem with Tensei. His face fell when he realized he was cold towards him without even knowing it this whole 3 years they were team mates.
"I am sorry Tensei I didn't mean to act that way towards you." Ushijima stopped in thought for a moment. 'I think I have to tell him...'
"Tensei, you remind me of him. My friend I told you about yesterday. I have been avoiding thinking about him because I was hurt by him, since I was a kid when Semi and I first met him."
Tensei looks up to Ushijima, wiping his tears to just listen to him. This was the first time they properly talked alone, and Ushijima seemed to be talking about this very personal thing. He never thought Ushijima talked about his personal stuff.
"When I was 6, the day after I met Eita, we came here to the festival to see the Youkai called Tendou Satori. He showed up we had became friends with him to that night."
"Really thats creepy wasn't he like 19 when he died?" Tensei interrupted, "He was 17." Ushijima corrected him.
"Still creepy." Tensei retorted. Ushijima turned to the red haired who chuckled, saying "But the thing was that he appeared as the same age as us."
"Oh. Okay well not as weird then heh. Go on." He pursed his lips waiting for him to go on.
"Eita had to leave before me, so I got to talk to him myself, we decided to meet again after school the next day. He smiled at me and I... I thought he was pretty, he was sweet and in later years I figured out that I really liked him, romantically, especially when I started to have dreams about him." Ushijima looked down smiling to himself, twiddling his thumbs. Tensei next to him awwed.
"So you basically fell in love with the Fire Youkai? Wait what happened that next day." The red head comments, smiled sadly at the olive haired teen starring up to the stars, It seemed brighter tonight then every other year that the ace sat there waiting by himself. Tensei was becoming eager to hear more, moving ever some slightly closer.
Ushijima unknowingly blushed at the comment of being in love with his childhood friend, but cleared his throat to continue. "When I went to meet him again, I was really late because my mother wouldn't let me go, it was a school night and I had already had volleyball practice that afternoon at my local public sports gym, but my dad helped me sneak out ."
"But I was to late. I waited and waited, every year of the festival I came here and waited for the pretty Tendou, but since that night 12 years ago I never saw him again, and I missed him so much I started to have these dreams of seeing him again and when I did."
Ushijima talked from his heart and Tensei listened tentatively, humming and nodding his head every now and then. "And he would kiss me in this reoccurring dream. That would happen only a few days before the festival."
Tensei bites his lips, feeling the tears prick up in the corner of his eyes. He would never have guess their captain, a guy who was cold, stern and almost void of emotions in his mannerisms when talking about or to anyone. But now he could really see, his eyes, There was much sadness behind them that he seemed to good at hiding. Tensei couldn't look away.
"A part of me believes it was just my imagination being so young, but I still hold on to hope to see him again some day, because I... I am in love with him."
"So, avoiding you, someone who was just like him. I think I had been avoiding those feelings until you brought them up."
"I'm so sorry, I never would have guessed." the red head relaxed his shoulder, stretching his legs down the steps. Ushijima lowers his head , turning back to this teammate, "You don't have to be sorry, that's just who you are, I should be sorry for being a bad teammate and friend." His eyes soften, looking right back into the others eyes as he continued his thoughts aloud, "Your not him, I shouldn't treated my friends like someone their not. No one can be a replacement for someone else."
"We're. F-friends?" Tensei stutters being caught off guard by the way his, what he thought would only ever be seen as a teammate, his friend spoke so kindly to him. Red rushing to his face, now just as bright red as his hair, he coughs, turning his face away, hand covering his mouth to hide the huge smile forming.
"I wanted to tell you something, Now that I know that they wont be reciprocated, I need to tell you so I can move on."
Ushijima becomes puzzled by this, but tells him to go on. Tensei takes in a deep breath through his nose, before letting it out in a shaken sigh. "I have had a crush on you since, well since I met you. Before I even joined the team You seemed so mysterious to me. I wanted become the one you showed your emotions too and talk to them same you talk some lovingly about Tendou. I wanted that. But now I have heard the story about him I know you probably won't ever feel the same so I had to say it." He rambled on shrinking, smaller, head further into his lap, trying to get away but stay.
"Thank you for telling me this Tensei. I'm sorry I made you feel that way and that I can't return your feelings the same way." Ushijima tells the other solemnly, hesitating to reach over and lay a hand on the blockers shoulder, gently patting it for a moment before retracting it when The red head glances up with a tear stained face and sniffling.
"I hope we can stay friends and you find someone who will feel the same for you." wiping his face into his shirt he chuckled looking up again. "Yeah I hope so to. Its difficult to have a crush and them also be gay and like you the same." he breaths out to stable himself from crying again, "I hope Tendou comes back to you again Ushijima." He croaks out as he stands up pretty fast, he starts falling forward, landing a foot on the next step down. Blocking the view of his face from Ushijima.
"Please your my friend Tensei, call me Wakatoshi." the olive haired one spoke quickly. "Uh no... No I think I am fine with just calling you Ushijima." The sadden tone in his voice went unheard by the sitting teen, as the two wave their separate ways.

Chapter Text
Ushijima sat starring up to the sky, now alone on the steps of the shrine. As he did as a kid, in his own world. Occasionally looking over his shoulder trying to catch sight of the red haired spirit he waited for, for so many years.
Little to the stone faced ace's knowledge. The one who he had been waiting for, was there away from sight the whole time.
Tendou watched and waited for the other red haired teen to leave before even thinking of showing his face. But now its been 30 minutes since that strangely familiar boy had left the stairs of the shrine.
Soon he thought it was time to reveal himself to the olive haired teen, who looked around over this shoulder, whispering to himself. "Hi, Tendou.. No, not like that. Satori! its been forever... No he is forever, unlike me... Huh." He frowned starring down at his feet.
As he closed his eyes, arms hugging his knees, a rustling from a nearby bush made Ushijima turn around so quickly. Starring off into the direction of the sound when. A slim tall figure stepped out of the bushes, that surround the shrine. His top half turned around to face it, while bottom half stayed glued to the steps. Blinking for a moment, and standing there was another teen in front of him, slightly hidden behind a pillar.
It was like Deja Vu stuck Ushijima hard. 'Just like when we first met.'
The teen in question, now had long spiked red hair, large tired marron eyes. He was now looking more like the depictions of him at the festival and in books Ushijima had read in the past years. Fair skinned, that looked almost white in a purple greyish kimono with light blue accents, but unlike before the marital had little tears, dirt and burn marks.
He stood back in shocked to see the other. "It's you, Satori." Ushijima says to himself, shooting up to stand at the top if the stairs, body fully facing the Yokai teen he'd been waiting for.
"Who are you?" the small voice of the red head, just reached Ushijima's ears. A strong pain hit his chest, like getting a volleyball spiked in to your face. The olive haired teen hesitated to move forward, "You, don't remember me?" his voice a little horse, holding his breath.
He glances down for moment, feeling the water welling up in his eyes, before shaking his head. He took a step towards the red head.
"Hello, I'm Ushijima Wakatoshi, I have visited this shrine every year of the festival, since I was six... to see you, Tendou Satori, The Great Fire beast Yokai." he says and held out his hands to the other.
The ghostly figure gasps, hand over his mouth, Tendou shrinking back behind the pillar as Ushijima kept moving forward and stopped a meter away.
He looked at him, Ushijima's hand and then back at his face, before reaching out his hand own too.
Ushijima flinch a bit at his touch, "Your hands are so cold." Ushijima says holding the skeptic mans hand in his own gentle hand, shaking. The teen went to pull it away again, but Ushijima holds it tight.
"It's okay, I don't mind a little cold." he seemed to have relaxed after those words were spoke and he smiled a bit too.
Then the red head did something unexpected of him and pulled Ushijima by his hand, into a hug. The cool skin of the Yokai's arm wrapped around the taller teens shoulders, tightly. "I missed you, Wakatoshi." Tendou spoke into his ears, Ushijima stunned.
"You remember me." he sobbed, his arms embraced Tendou's small torso, head resting into his neck, and breathing heavy, trying to keep himself from crying in font of his friend.
"I misses you for so long, I came here everyday." Grinning, wider then he had before lifting the skinny guy up, starling him a bit, a sandal falling of his foot. "Woah, Wakatoshi, could you please put me down?"
'His voice is just as pretty I remember.'
Ushijima though to himself. He does as asked of him, placing the other down on his feet, Tendou winced as his bear foot touched the concrete. Looking around for the sandal that dropped, he spun around once and jumped when he saw Ushijima, now kneeling in front of of him holding the footwear.
Head down, kneeling with the shoe in hand out like he was giving an offering. Tendou's face burnt hot, like a bright flame, starring down at the boy. "Uh. T-thank you Wakatoshi. But please stand up this is embarrassing."
The red head coughs out coving his mouth to hide his obvious smile, went to take the sandal from him, but it was tugged away. Then Ushijima leaned up close their faces inches about, the Yokai had never felt so fluttered since he died "I want see you again tomorrow and no flaking."
"Flaking?" Teen pale teen was confused, by a word he had never heard of before.
'So I'm not the only one who hadn't heard of the term before now."
He explained what Tensei had told him they other day.
Upon hearing the explanation, Tendou seemed to become mad, offered by the calling of being a cearial Flaker by the teen he had longed to see.
"Wakatoshi, if anyone here a flaker," the red head makes quotations in the air, "it'd be you for for never showing up that day!" He steps back from the other, who had a rare expression of shock on his face. "Me? I did show up. You left before I could get there, I waited for hours til it was dark and cold and my dad carried me how crying." Ushijima told sternly.
"Your dad?" The red head suddenly lost his anger he felt, looking off to the side without a word more.
"And what's more I misplaced my bag tag I had won that night." Tendou had stood up, and quickly rushed over to the shrine doors, opening the old wooden doors, Ushijima couldn't see from where he was standing what the pale teen was doing. But a moment later coming back over to him sorrowfully, cupping his hands over each other like he was holding something ever so fragile, if even the wind were to blow to hard, the thing in his ghostly hands would disappear.
Tendou looked back up to Ushijima biting his lip. "I... I found it at the steps that day and took it back with me, while I slumbered." The teen holding it out to the other just as he did minutes ago.
Ushijima was shocked, carefully taking it into his hands. The one thing he would have left from that day, to prove thier interaction wasn't just some dream his mind imagined up to make him feel less lonely, then he had if he didn't meet Semi Eita the day before.
"Wakatoshi," the ghostly figure starts
"I promise, this time, I will wait until I see you again." Ushijima smiled slightly, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a pen, holding the bag tag flat and started writing on the back, the passes it back to the Youkai. Looking down at it, there in the the little box, was written 'Wakatoshi and ____'
Ushijima starred hopefully at the other, for him to see in his eyes what he askes.
The Youkai smiled big, snatching it up and scribbling down his own name right after it.
"Tomorrow afternoon, at 6pm as it gets dark. That's when I will come to see you again. But if I don't see anymore, I'll have this to remember you by and know I wasn't dreaming. Because I do that alot about you."
The Youkai teens face turns as red as his hair, hearing such a comment. And it is one the reminds him of his past. The lover he left behind, many centuries ago. "You dreamt about me?" He asks smiling hopefully.
Ushijima nods. "And you look just a pretty as I imagined you to be." Ushijima says flat out, hovering closer to the slim figure now the too only centermeters apart. Hand in hand, slipped fingers together.
Eyes widly looking into eachothers, the hot breath of the living and the cool air from the lips of the dead, so close to meeting, before a loud noise distracted them. Moving away, one hand still connected. Ushijima pulling out his phone, an alarm, telling him that it was time to shower and go to bed.
"Okay, I have to go now, I have school tomorrow." He coughed out, glancing down at his watch, thinking for a moment and then letting go the red heads hand to take the watch off, squeezing it before taking the cold pale hand and placing it in his hand.
"This is the watch my farther gave me, and its a way of telling the time in this age. When this hand here is on this number 6 for the 2nd time the day, that is when I will be here again tomorrow, just as the sun has set."
Tendou nods slightly, starring in aw.
"Good bye Satori, see you tomorrow." The olive hired man, starts walking off down the stairs, with one final wave.

Chapter Text
Here he was again, sitting waiting. He was able to make it to the shrine at the time he said, with some persuasion for Semi to end Practice match early for the 3rd years.
It felt a little wrong, but he had somewhere to be, and Ushijima was damn if he was going to be late for the last time.
Now waiting. He had been there for what felt like forever, in reality only a bit over 2 hours. When his stone cold face turns into one of sadness.
"H-." Ushijima's sobs out. "He's n-never coming back is he?" The teen questioned himself out loud.
Hearing those words leave that mouth with nothing but disappointment and heart break, Tendou regretted his decision to hide and watch him. His choice wasn't of great malicious intent.
He had missed the bright olive eyes from so long ago. This teen had reminded Tendou so much of HIM. He never wanted to hurt HIM again after that day.
He launches himself out from his hiding spot in the shrine to chase after him.
"W-Wakatoshi, I'm sorry!" Tendou ran after Ushijima a quarter ways down the stairs. Ushijima gasps silently, hearing his voice, hope not lost after all. Stopping in his tracks.
"Please don't leave me again!" a loud sob escapes his trembling lips. "I'm sorry." Tendou continued, his legs giving out under him.
The salty waters sliding down Ushijima's cheeks, as his head whipped back to see him there, on his knees on the stairs of his shrine, his home, where he was stuck roaming alone from the day he past on.
Hiding his face from the other, Tendou sobbed not noticing the footsteps approaching him. "I-I don't want to be alone anymore, PLEASE!" He said to himself feeling the dark bubbling up again in his tight shut eyes.
He looked down at his hands as he felt an unusual, but not unfamiliar, pain strike crawling up his arms, neck and the right side of his face. The sight in his eye becoming slightly red and blurring all the colour around him together.
Slowly the darkness taking over his skin spread up his arching more. "No, Not this again please." the quickly changing man whispers to himself as the burn spread.
The only way he knew to describe it was like thousands of pins piecing his burning infected skin, and a stabbing pain in his right temple coming from the inside like something was trying escape out, he wanted to scream but no noise come from his lips. He lay forward in pain trying conceal what was happening to him.
Unknown to what was happening to the Yokai, Ushijima stared down at him for a moment, still a few steps away from the Ghostly figure, that he waited so long to see again. Hesitant but he reached his hands down, kneeling as his hands slipped onto the others deathly cold cheeks.
Tendou flinched feeling the touch of big warm hands cupping his cheeks. The hands pulling his face up, to meet eyes with the other being. His eyes widen hugely, and letting out a breath that he didn't know he was holding in.
Ushijima gasps at the site of his friends pale skin began to be slowly taken over by the dark, his ears noticeably pointier too, with his eyes black and his usually dark red iris now replaced with bright orange colour like the burning embers from a flame. His hair spiky, compared to the silky swept up locks he imaged them to be.
Confused as to why his, closer then just a, friend seemed to be suffering so, he was scared for him as he noticed the tears flooded his cheeks.
"Tendou?" the Ace spoke to him, shocked by the site of his friend changing before his eyes and all he could do is just shake his head saying what he thought to say anyways. "Why, would you hide from me?" Ushijima started down at the Yokai boy who lived in the Shrine.
"I. I just wanted you to feel how I did when you never showed that day." He tried to turn his head in shame at how petty he sounded saying that. The rounded tips of his fingers started to form pointy and long like claws.
"But I did, I told you already. I sat on these stairs for hours waiting for you, I have been waiting 12 years for you come back, and... and during that time when you didn't, I felt so alone, even though I have friends who are always there for me. It's... It's not the same as being around you. Because I-" Ushijima stopped himself from finishing the thoughts spilling from out his heart.
He didn't know if he could tell Tendou, just as easily as Tensei did to him. How could he confess his love to a man, dead for many centuries before his own conception? How could a mortal being and spiritual being, go about a loving relationship such as that of what he wanted?
"What?" Tendou says. "I missed you too much, Tendou!" he yelled and falls to his ghostly friend, arms wrapping around his slim waist, Ushijima's face buried into Tendou's dark exposed shoulder. Hugging him in close, like he has been arching to do for years, for all he got to touch was his dreams, but now the sprit he had fallen for.
Suddenly it all faded, the darkness slipped away leaving the sprits pale skin the same as before, all the previously sharper features, rounded out to look normal again.
"You... stopped it." The ghostly man sounded shocked and relieved.
Sighing he lets his tense body fall freely in the mortal teens arms, keeping him close.

Chapter 6: The True Story
Summary:
Tendou Tells the teen Ushijima the true story of his.
And now Ushijima is confused on where to go now.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
"Tendou. What was that just now?"
The olive haired teen questioned, moving apart only enough to see the others face.
The red head sighed heavily, swallowed before opening his mouth again.
"I am sure you know my story. Tendou of The Great Fire Beast Youkai." He starred into those lovely eyes, Ushijima nods slightly, eye sparkling back down at him, having to look away to keep his train of thought.
"Well the one that is told is a false. I never stabbed that poor mother beast." He glaces down in sorrow, but continued.
"It was an assumption the village had made up, when they had found me and my sword at the scene of the beast hurt." He finished leaving a moment for questions.
"What is the real story then?" Ushijima asks, the two moving away to go sit comfortably on the steps to the shrine.
And Tendou taking in a deep breath before he began the retelling from his own perspective.
***
Its started a few years before the events of the days I died.
I was 16, I had a fight with my Father, because I was chasing a love, not a career on our land we had owned for generations before.
He had called me "A useless Son and a perverted Stalker. Never to be loved by that women."
I had become furious with him, calling the love of my life a women, of which he woefully indured year of abuse from his family and our peers because he wanted to be a man.
And one day after coming home from doing my chores, I had found my childhood home abandoned and empty of my families possessions.
All that was left was a few of my own belongs. Never even a note. But I knew they had left me. And in a way I was free to go after my love. I would watch him from a far doing his own chores with the rest of the females of his household.
He was the most beautiful man I had ever seen.
But there in the village, never a smile on his face, and I hurt for him too.
I wanted to run away with him, so I taught myself to weild a sword for the protection we'd need if he was to agree to go on the run from the village.
One day, as the sun set on the rooftops of the village, we were woken up by a bright light and shaking of the ground.
The Towns Bellman stuck the bell of danger. Something was coming straight towards us. And fast.
In a blaze flame came burning some of the houses as it stampede by.
Bright mixes of red and orange flames flew in to the village square along with the arrows being thrown and hot at it.
"ALLL MEN OF THE VILLAGE ATTACK THE FLAME BEAST!!"
The head of the village called out.
"Waki, get all the women and children out of the village now!" An older man with white hair tied into a top not.
My love, was going to be safe. But it was time to fight with the rest of the men.
Quickly I rushed into my house grabbing the sword, back out and followed them all after the beast.
But I was stopped. "Not you boy. Your family has done nothing but damage to this village as is when they left you here." One of the men from hunt party spoke harshly.
"But I can fight to!" I yelled desperately, the man only shakes his head.
"No stalker of my daughter deserves an honour in this fight." It was His father.
I hadn't seen him much outside of thier house, because his father was just some drunk that never left the house.
"His is a man!" I screamed in his face, brows frowned,This only angered him further, to push me to the ground, I fall back landing on my back, and he places a sandaled foot on my face preventing me from getting up.
"You show no respect for your elders! What right do you have to have a say in my daughters life, you creeper!!" Pushing down a bit before moving to kick dirt into my face. There is a roar in the distance of the beast.
The man then runs off to join the hunt again.
A scream of painful the glowing beast with each spear being jabbed.
I cough from the dust in my lungs, standing best I could. Making my way to the beast.
I saw ahead of it. Its path was for the forest that surrounded, be just before it got there I saw it redirect, running along side the edge of the forest, seemingly trying to find a way around it.
I followed running as fast as I could to meet it. And I did. Sword in hand ready to slice. But it stopped, i heard my sword towards it, and then I heard it whimper. Blood was pouring from the spears and arrows that stuck out of its fur.
I gasped as it Coward back away, shaken and weak, I saw the fear in its eyes. Its big beautiful golden eyes. Its breath staggering as it sat back the bright flames that come from its body flickered and grew dim.
I had feared going into the fight, but she was in more pain then I had ever seen before. The sword dropped from my hands, I slowly stared to approach the beast, now lowering its body.
Her eyes going limp, I was able to get close enough to reach my hand out.
Placing it on her snout. Her breath was heavy. "Oh, you poor thing. I am very sorry for what they have done to you."
Her breath started to slow, whimpering, as she lifted a great paw towards me a claw touched my forhead. And then I know it all.
Natsu. A mother, trying to find a safe place to have her children.
Finally with one last breath, something was now inside of me and
*BOOOOOOOOOMM*
THE EXPLOSION
The explosion was the beast fusing with me after I was the only one to show her kindness.
I was servilely injured from the impact, not only that, my appearance seemed to have changed a bit. But it wasn't that noticeable to those who didn't truly know me.
But the fire beast, Natsu. Her body dropped right in front of me, as her soul left it. I only survived as long as i did because of her soul and her children's souls were in me.
I just happened to have me sword with me. So the village assumed I killed her, despite not seeing any blood on my sword.
Then I woke up, in the doctors house. There my love Wakatoshi, that I had only ever watched from afar, was tending to my wounds.
He confessed he wanted to bare my children, and I said yes.
He was what we called, not a biological man, so he could get pregnant.
"You said yes? While in so much pain?" The young man asked.
"I was a dying lonely man, abandoned 3 year prior by my own selfish family and the love of my life wanted to have my children." The Red head turns to him.
"Wouldn't you want to do the same, continue the bloodline."
And despite the pain. I loved him with my whole body, just like I had always hoped too.
Tending to my wounds and later at night when no one was around we would make love. I was in that house for a few days before...
I just never woke up again.
It was only thanks to Natsu, fusing her soul with mine, that I was able to take this spiritual form.
And I got to see...
My own twin children, The making of the festival that honored my life.
But I still hold some resentment to that village, casting me out after my family left, and ruthlessly attacking Natsu when she did nothing wrong.
She was just trying to finds a safe place to have her pups. The pups that never made it as fire beast like they were meant to. I think, because she fused our souls her unborn pups souls went into my two children.
I watch my children, grow and have their own, and so many generations of children, keeping my bloodline going.
All the way to now. A single mother with a son he looked like his father, who was a terrible man.
This son was given the name of his kind dead Grand father.
His name is Yumai, Tensei.
"You seem surprised?" Tendou looked down to the olive hair teen, who listened deeply to the real history of his friend.
"I know him. He goes to my school, we play volleyball together, he was here the other day with me." Wakatoshi spoke to the ghostly figure.
"Wow, that is such a coincidence, huh?" Tendou laughs. A few moments pass from all the information he gained to progress.
"Your loves name was the same as mine." Wakatoshi points out, having nothing else to say. "Yes. And you remind much of him." The red haired man spoke fondly, starring into the others eyes.
Wakatoshi turns to glaze back at him.
"But I am not your love. I am just a human that is like him."
Tendou looks away with a sorrowful grin. "You are right."
The two sat in silence. Not sure what to do now. Wakatoshi could never be Tendou's love as long as he is alive. There in no way for a long lasting relationship, if he would ever bring it up.
He had no idea what to do. If he stayed a friend to Tendou, he could only visit every so often since he is leaving the country the follow few years.
"Satori. I love you. But I think I, should let you go. It would only bring us both the pain if I wanted to have something more then this. I could not even introduce you to my parents."
"Because you are dead. And I am just a human."
"I miss my love, and you remind me so much if him." The ghostly red head sighs looking off sorrowfully.
"But you are correct. This doesn't feel right."
He turned to the human teen, gulping. "I am destined to be alone forever, stuck to this mortal realm." The water started welling in his cherry eyes.
The two sat in silence for awhile. The brunette didn't know what to say. He just slowly reached over, arms enveloping the man's figure from the side
Tendou looked up, sniffed, looking into the teens eyes with a grin. Then closed his eyes leaning his head into the wide shoulders of the brunette, which caused the teen the turn bright red. The two stayed like that for longer.
"Stress, fear and loneliness." Ushijima looks up at the man with confusion. "That what that darkness coming out of me was, I think it came with when Natus merge her soul to mine."
The teen sighs turing back to the sky, juat then a vibration buzzed on his wrist. "I-. I have to go now. The school gate will be closing soon I have to be back for curfew or I'll get a strike."
"Oh. Okay. I'll see you again right?" The ghostly figure asked. "I have so much to tell Semi now too." The brunette smiled, The red head returned it. "Tell him I said hi." The teen nods standing up, being on his way, half way down the steps he looks back.
Tendou is still there, waving him. He continues down further again only getting so far before looking over his shoulder again. Still there.
He walks again, a few more steps to the last before he could be out of site anxiously looking back once more.
He was gone. Tendou had left. With no clue the next time he could come see him again. School life was getting busy as Finals and Collage entrance exams where going to take up his time.
"Good Bye Tendou Satori, I hope i can see you again some day."
Notes:
Sorry for such a long time since the last update. But here it is.
It took all this time to figure out how I wanted it to end.
But fear not. It's not The end end.I still have a few little stories of Tendou and HIS times Ushijima. So sweet.
And a time skip to our Ushijima's as an adult, so stay tuned I guess?
Chapter 7: The End?
Summary:
The end of the Ushijima Bloodline
Chapter Text
The shrine gets knocked down, Ushijima dies trying to save it, holding Tendou as he disappears.
He cries as he draws his last breath never making it to graduation.
Semi is devi. Tensei kys, cuz no ushi.
THE END.....
APRIL FOOLS. YOU THOUFHT I ACTUALLY UPDATED.
Nah but with all honesty, this pretty much where I was going with the story when I first started writing.
The shrine being soooooo Old was gonna get wreaked and rebuilt cuz safety shiz and Ushijima being soooooo in love with Tendou trying to save the shrine dies and gets to be with him and meet his ancestors.
But I realised that was kinda stupid and Ushi wouldn't do that.
Or maybe he would, since Tensei isn't Tendou's replacement in the world. The team isn't what it is in canon, cuz Tendou isn't there.
And there for maybe Ushijima would bottle up his emotions until he explodes and do something crazy like died for a ghost he has mad love for.
Sorry this wasn't something expected. I actually am not 100% sure how I want to end it. But hopefully when I am more used to work and don't have study, Cosplays and an Exchange Gift I am drawing to deals with I might be able to figure it out.
Don't hold your breath on it though.
Chapter 8: A True Love Story - Ending
Summary:
Okay I actually wrote something. The actual ending.
Tendou tells a story of his lover from his time.
A cute little love story to end it with.

Chapter Text
"On one occasion, we had met outside of the village in the surrounding thick forests. I was out collecting firewood for myself to keep warm at night as the seasons changed over. The crops I was barely growing started dying around that time.
As I wondered around picking up good hunks of wood, a ways in a found him. Sitting on a moss covered rock, in a slightly open space.
As I carefully got closer, I saw the stone was carved perfectly for sitting, and the moss looked to be a sort of cushioning for one's bottom.
I saw his face, my vision half blinded by the trees I stood by, watching him. My love, he looked to be at peace, in this wilderness. It was illuminated by the slight bit of sunlight that had made its way through the canopies from above.
Though I had accidentally revealed myself, as I had exhaled a little too loud, to witness such a valuable state from the man.
His head snapped glancing over my direction, eyes landed immediately to mine. Panicked I tried to rush away but was stopped in my tracks when I had heard his voice call for me.
"Tendou! Wait." I glaced back over my shoulder. Stood up, not to far from the were he sat just a moments ago. His hand streatched out in frount of him, reached out as if to chase after me.
His deep brown eyes shone in my vision. "Uh, I am sorry for snooping around you." Stood in place he seemed to relax a bit returning to his usual calm demeanour.
•••
"No, please, I don't mind if it's you."
He spoke softly, gesturing for the red-haired man to join him.
His cheeks glow the colour of his hair, a little shocked but nodded and joined the other at the rock. Laying down the basket from his back, beside them, slowly lowering his body to sit as to be cautious of the other suddenly reactions. But no, he was calm, watching the man, carefully as well, but slightly smiled when finally making contact with the stone.
There was hardly seemed to be space for the two of them, though. The cllse proximity to his love caused his to flush ever reder.
The brunette seemed to be more dainty up close, probably due to forced habbits.
The two sat in silence for what seemed like years, catching the other side eyeing eachother a few times listening to music of the forest surrounding them. It, was nice.Tendou soon visibly relaxed, unfurling his fists sitting in his lap.
"You tend to watch me a lot, don't you?" The brunette broke the quiet, turning to look at the man's face. Mouth wide open with shock, at the forwardness. This is the first time they have properly interacted since they where children.
"I am very embarrassed. Please, I don't mean to a creeper, Ushijima, don't tell your father." Covering his face while shaking his head. Shirnking down in the seat.
But the other man laughs out loud. "No. I admit I have been just as watchful over you too. Tendou Satori." A grin left on such a feminine face of his. The tan skin shining in the light of the day.
"Mainly when you are practising your swordsmanship." He says to the red head, leaning forward to cropping up his elbows on his knee crossed over his other knee.
Tendou's fingers split to look through them at the other. "You have?"
The brunette smiled wide, nodding with a small chuckle from his peach lips, the red head swallowed, letting his hands down by his sides, recurling them again.
Hands sat on the moss below them both. Unknowingly, the brunette brushed his own fingers gently over the others, causing Tendou to hold his breath as they both stayed staring out in the I the woods around them. Thus state of blissful passion, without even needing to be so close.
He had to admit, the man found that most wonderful places to get away.
After a while, the red-headed man felt a bit odd, like he was being watched, and looked to his right. He was still there, facing him this time, to big brown eyes starring at the man lovingly, and he remembered to breathe again. "Quite the watcher, are you?" The red head man snickered jokingly to the other, hands lightly brushing over eachothers again. On purse from Tendou's turn.
"What did I say." He shrugged, chocolate brown still staring deeply into his bright red eyes, and as if some magnetic kinda forces pulling them together, they got closer by the second. Hands slowly turjng and grasping together, finger threaded through eachothers.
All the sound around them faded out and turned into just them. Ushijima, placing his free hand on the taller man's chest with a heavy breath,
glacing up at the other as Tendou's hands reached around his waist, keeping them together.
Ushijima opened his mouth slightly, leaning even more wetting his lips before they met, and it was like a weight had lifted, feeling lighter than ever before.
The swelling in thier hearts coming together, in a sweet moment like this.
But the bitterness hit as they had to fall away to catch thier breathes.
Though not straying far from eachothers so soon. Contact was still being made.
With lids still closed loosely, thier faces close, foreheads bumping, without a care in the world. "You look so Handsome right now, Ushijima-kun." The fingers in his own tighten at the mention of his beauty in a masculine manner. Once slow breathes to mask the jagged hitch of it, as the brunette had water almost swelling.
The air from thier mouthes picking up pace as thier bodies began to move on thier own.
Closer still, lips touching for a moment more, the brunettes hand moving up the other man's chest, finger tips glidding smoothly over the slight bare skin up to his neck, hot with please, hand fully wrapping around the back of his neck. Pulling the red head in more and keeping him from pulling away. Not that he wanted that at all. Both turing round for a more comfortable position, almost full faced eachother.
Lips open against the others, forcing them both wide, hot breath intermingling. Ushijima shuffling his body into the man's, holding them togther, Tendou leaning in more trying to take hold of the situation.
Legs now laying on top of eachothers.
The two push against eachothers, fighting for dominance, as thier lips moved in sync, Tendou wrapping his free hand around the Brunette's waist.
Soon they pulled apart for air, but kept themselves close to the other, not wanting to leave eachothers sides, foreheads resting against one another. A tranquil air about the both as they sat holding themselves tightly in bounds, enjoying thier companies.
"WAKATOSHI-chan! HEY, STUPID GIRL! YOU CAN'T KEEP RUNNING OFF LIKE THIS!" Disturbing thir peace a screaming voice was heard far off, Ushijima jolted in place, quickly pulling away from, the red head, whose eyes snapped open, to see the water rushing down the brunettes plump rose tinted cheeks.
"I- I have to go. Tendou I am very sorry." He choaked out, his sweet voice hitching in his breath as he stood up fast in place, glacing around them quickly, landing back on Tendou. Starring down at the other man, who only looking in disappointment, but nods to him.
"Huh. Yes I understand." He huffed, reaching, bring his face down to him, keeping him close for only a few moments more, wiping the salty water from his cheeks with his thumb.
"Please come back someday." The man spoke softly, to the other into his left ear, pulling away giving a look of genuine plea.
The brunette, glaces from side to side, taking in the look the man had given him. Understanding and but not wanting to let go.
"I'm sorry." A perturbed gasp. Dispite his words, his head nodding, gave the man a hope and just as gust in trees comes and goes. The brunette was swepted up out of his cherry red site.
(On his deathbed)
"Satori, I love you! Please let me have your children!"
"That was more then 16 hundred years ago, and now, here I am watching over our lineage, that of which so far ends with you." The ghostly figure looks over to the other with him on the steps.
"Wow, when Ushijima introduced me to you he wasn't kidding when he said, I really did look like you." The red haired man says to the ghostly figure in front of him.
Tendou laughs, "Yes you do, Tensei Yumai." Starring up at the dark sky, light pollution dulling the stars that sit there, a light breeze swaying the dark shadows of the trees.
"He was very right. I can't wait to see him again. It's been maybe 12 years since."
Tensei glaced back at him with a bit of pitty, knowing his story, the tragedy of his past life and how much of it he lost dieing at such a younger age.
"And maybe, he will bring his lover with him this time." The Human, giggled to himself.
"I heard she has the cutest of natural curls, and moles above her eye." The human rambled on. It was nice for Tendou to have someone to talk to again.
After Ushijima Wakatoshi left and graduated, his time was solely spent on his new collage Volleyball team, some years later, few old face joined him on that journey. And then he met her.
"She is on a bit of a break from the National Japanese Women's Volleyball team. She is pretty amazing, at the game through. I been to all of her games since he told me they started dating, engaged. I met her once but she is a totally germphobe." Tensei rambled on about his friends life to the ghostly man next to him, who sat nodding and chuckling from time to time, all this new information from his descendant.
"Yeah, and there might be some good news for you this time." The man giggled Covering his hand in the direction of the ghost, knowing a big secret.
"I am glad I got to meet you Tendou-San, not everyday you get a to meet an ancestor." The red haired human says almost out of nowhere.
"Also to find out that Ushijima and I are connected in that way." A shover of disgust sent through his whole body.
Iys a good thing he rejected me so long ago." Tensei laughed out loud, holding his stomach, "It still hurt really bad at the time though." Wiping a fake tear of laughter from his eye, starring up into the sky.
It was just a little big darker this time.
'Gosh that was a quick setting. It's getting really dark now.' Glacing down at his tattered old watch, that sat on his wrist.
'He was ment to be here and hour ago.'
"Too bad, I think you would have been great together." Tendou says his eyes closed, still looking up.
"Tendou Satori!" A deep voice called out. The two red haired men snapping thier attention to the direction it came from.
5 steps from the bottom, a mess of moss brown and a curly mop of black greeted thier sites, big swawing waving hands to them, while on one free arm, a women, dressed in a loose fitting dress.
Looking her up and down, thier eyes stopped in the middle. A painfully obvious buldging stomach, a hand holding it dearly and careful.
"Hello again Wakatoshi-kun." The ghostly figure spoke loudly.
"It's good to see youa again, Tendou." The chocolate pupils grow, now in a different way. Eyes sparkling in the light of the raising moon above, one's of admiration.
...THE END...
