Chapter Text

It was a sunny day, like many that accompanied Spring in Konoha. And it was peaceful until a group of children exiting the academy for the day paused at an innocent question being asked by the youngest of their group. While innocuous in nature, it had them all turning as one to look at the person in question, who just stared blankly and blinked green eyes slowly. Each of them waited as they watched before a soft hnn came from them.

"I don't know. I'd have to ask my parents." 

Their voices were soft yet showing curiosity at what had been asked. It was clear to each of them that this had been something they'd never thought of before. 

"Well, then let's all go see Auntie Sakura!"

As these murmurs rippled through their small group before as one, they turned and headed in the direction of the Uchiha compound. This was something that had their attention and required further investigation. How did Sakura Haruno, mother of Shisui Uchiha-Haruno, get together with the Clan Head, Itachi? And none of them knew how it would lead them on a grand old merry chase of the past.

[I feel nice. You look nice.]

Two sets of eyes stared at the group of kids, who seemed filled with an unsettling curiosity.

"Dad! Mom!"

A sense of foreboding rose in the two as they looked at their eight-year-old son Sarutobi. A silent conversation took place before a resigned sigh came from one of them.

"Sarutobi, what do you-- and the rest of the gang need?" The tall blond woman said as she knelt.

"Mom. Mommy, Sora asked cousin Shisui a question he couldn't answer," Sarutobi exclaimed in an over-excited tone. 

"Oh, what question did Sora ask?" The woman said, turning her gaze to her nephew.

The young boy blinked his green eyes and bowed politely to his elders as he spoke softly. 

"Auntie Tenten, Uncle Sasuke, how did my parents hook up?" Young Shisui asked.

This question had Tenten and Sasuke freezing. Neither knew the answer. It had been a shock when Kakashi, the Sixth Hokage, had suddenly announced the wedding bans for the two. 

And other than meeting at the hospital after harsh missions for a complete physical and mental checkup, they'd never been seen together.

"Shishi," Tenten called out, using her nephew's pet name. "I don't know. Maybe Naruto will know, or ask your parents directly."

A loud, unsatisfied groan came from the whole group as Sasuke stepped forward, knelt before his son, and opened his arms. 

After the fourth war, he had come to terms with 'positive' emotions. And having his son with Tenten helped. 

"Dad, I feel fine," Sarutobi said, smiling as he jumped into his father's arms. "And mom looks nice. I want a sister now, please."

Going stiff, Sasuke released his son and moved away quickly. The sight of Tenten's face turning red had him looking elsewhere.

"Go find someone else to ask," Sasuke commanded the kids. "And stay safe!"

His parting words got several annoyed glares, but he knew it was a child's youthful arrogance. 

"Honey, now I am curious as to how your brother got together with Sakura," Tenten muttered.

Sasuke nodded. They had completely different personalities and temperaments and often clashed. And Sakura had always claimed to love him. When did it all change?
