Chapter 1: Black, white and red.
Chapter Text
Time stood still.
The whole world seemed to be in slow motion, as if every second lasted an eternity.
‘She dies.’
Padgett’s words were echoing in his ears melting together with the sounds of gunshots coming from his apartment. The papers of Padgett’s finished book dropped from his hands and scattered around the basement like leaves blowing in the autumn wind as he turned to run towards her.
He didn’t care. All he cared about was getting to her.
His heart thumped hard in his chest as he ran as fast as he could up the stairs and down the corridor toward his apartment door, the journey seeming to take hours. When he got to his floor, he was struck by the weight of the silence that enveloped him.
No sounds of life.
He felt as though his heart might actually burst through his chest as he got to his apartment door. He hastily kicked the door in, the thump of his foot on the wooden door causing a loud thud which broke the heavy silence.
His heart stopped as he took in the sight before him.
There she was, laying lifeless on his floor. It seemed as if all the colour drained from the world apart from her beautiful copper hair and the bright red blood which soaked her clothes. Black, white and red.
He absentmindedly dropped his gun as he tentatively walked towards her. He dropped to his knees and leaned over her with baited breath. Could Padgett have been right? Was she dead?
Was Scully dead?? His Scully??
This couldn’t be true. This had to be some kind of horrible nightmare. The room seemed to spin around him as he willed himself to wake up with every fibre of his being. Every ounce of him wishing for this not to be true. He held his breath as he slowly scanned his eyes over her body, searching for something, anything, that told him she was alive.
And then he heard it. A small, sharp intake of breath before she awoke with a start. She jumped toward him, flailing her arms and wailing in panic until she realised who it was who was looking down at her.
He finally allowed himself to breathe again as he reached out his arms to comfort her, pulling her into his warm embrace. Relief flooded through him as he felt her exhale and wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.
So many thoughts were whirring around his head, but he was so overcome with relief that he couldn’t bring his mouth to speak a single word. He was frozen in that moment, as if he was meant to take in and remember every single poignant detail. The thought of losing her had been so unbearable, so inconcievable. The realisation of how much she meant to him came crashing down on him like a tsunami. Just like the tsunami of her tears and sobs which followed.
She was everything to him. Without her, there was nothing.
He savoured every touch, every sound, every breath as she grasped his shirt and held on to him tightly.
She was safe and in his arms. That was the moment that time no longer stood still.
Chapter 2: A not so closed book
Summary:
The final events from Milagro from Scully’s perspective.
Chapter Text
Scully put on her shoe as as quickly as she could, worried about what trouble Mulder was getting himself into until she got to him. He always seemed to get himself into trouble when she wasn’t around to keep him in line.
They had been conducting surveillance on Padgett’s apartment. It had been a long day of watching him sit at his desk, unmoving, staring blankly at the wall in front of him. She had grown weary, making herself comfortable on the couch and taking her shoes off in the process. Just as she lay back on Mulder’s couch, Padgett had suddenly got to his feet and exited his apartment. Mulder followed quickly after him in pursuit and she had barely had time to get up off the couch before he was already gone.
Mulder was irritated immensely by Padgett. She was puzzled as to why he was so bothered by him. She thought back to when Mulder was talking to her about the contents of Padgett’s book. He had been practically seething when he described the chapter containing the imaginary tryst between herself and his mysterious neighbour.
Could Mulder have been jealous?
She immediately stopped herself right there.
Mulder wasn’t jealous, was he? Why would he be? Although, he had seemed very upset at the thought that the contents of the book might be true? He couldn’t, could he? He couldn’t be jealous?
She smiled to herself and felt her cheeks flush at the though as she remembered Padgett’s words about her as they handed back his book and he left them by his jail cell: ‘Agent Scully is already in love.’
How could Padgett possibly know that? She was so careful not to allow herself to show her feelings and thought she was doing a pretty good job at hiding them from everyone else as well. She wondered about what gave her away and felt violated by how Padgett was able to seemingly read into the depths of her soul.
She was well and truly, 100% in love.
With Mulder.
She was in love with Mulder.
She allowed herself to think about that for a second as she took in the enormity of the statement.
She, Dana Scully, was in love with her partner, Fox Mulder.
It was the most improbable of partnerships, she thought to herself. Him; the open minded, paranormal obsessed kook who broke all the rules and wore his heart on his sleeve. Her; the evidence loving scientist who always followed the rules and kept her feelings close to her chest.
But there she was, besotted.
What was there not to love about Mulder? Sure, he could be obsessive about his work and a bit of a geek at times, but he was also THE best person she knew. He was kind, sweet, caring and fiercely protective of her. He listened to her and supported her always, without question. He even hauled himself all the way to Antarctica to save her when he himself had been shot in the head for Christ’s sake!
Her mind drifted off to think about him. The strong arms that had held her tightly so many times and made her feel safe. The deep hazel eyes that melted her heart as she gazed into them. His full luscious lips that caused her to bite down on hers as she couldn’t help but think about kissing them every time she looked at them.
She felt like a naughty teenager daydreaming about the school heart throb. She blushed again at the thought, as though someone else was around and could automatically read her thoughts. She dragged herself back to reality, pulled up the zip of her shoe and rushed toward the door.
Just as she opened the door, she was caught off guard by a dark, hooded figure blocking her exit. The figure stepped toward her, pushing her back. Was this the killer from Padgett’s book?
Fear rose in her abdomen as she was pushed back into Mulder’s apartment; her safe haven. She felt like she might choke, her breath caught in her throat. All her muscles tensed as she struggled against the figure, fighting him with all her strength.
She fought and fought, but it seemed to have absolutely no effect.
She felt his grip tightening on her shoulders, pushing her down to the floor, putting his full weight on her as he lay on top of her on the ground. He reached out and pushed his hand through her shirt. A searing pain shot through her chest, and it felt as though her whole torso was on fire.
Still she fought.
She managed to clutch at her gun, shooting toward’s the dark figure’s chest without hesitation. The bullets seemed to go right through him, leaving holes in Mulder’s ceiling but having no effect whatsoever on the silent assailant who was trying to kill her. She tried to shout out Mulder’s name, but all that came out were cries of desperation.
She felt hopeless.
As the world started to black out around her, the shadows creeping in from her peripheral vision, her thoughts drifted back to only one thing.
Mulder.
She thought about how guilty he would feel for running off without her. He would never forgive himself and that made her feel overcome with grief. She thought about how she wished she had told him how she really felt. She loved him. Why didn’t she tell him that? All the reasons for not telling him seemed so pointless now. Perhaps now she would never get the chance.
She went numb just as the world plunged into darkness.
After what felt like an eternity, she suddenly realised she could feel her hands. She could hear the deafening silence that engulfed her. The pain in her chest was starting to dissipate. He mustn’t have killed her yet.
She took in a sharp breath and threw her hands up into the air ready to fight against her assailant again. She opened her eyes and was hit by the realisation that it wasn’t the dark figure stood over her any more.
It was Mulder.
She threw her hands around his neck, pulling desperately at his shirt as she wanted so badly to feel his warmth and his strong arms around her. She held onto him tightly and buried her face into his neck, taking in his warmth and his smell. Her emotions spilled over; all the fear, love and relief she felt were released in one giant torrent of sobs.
She felt safe again.
Chapter 3: Relief
Summary:
The immediate aftermath of Mulder finding an unconscious and blood-soaked Scully. Mulder’s perspective.
Chapter Text
He held her tightly as she sobbed into his shoulder, her body shaking with relief. He hoped it was because she felt safe now, safe in his arms. He willed her to feel his warmth and love, trying his best to make it radiate through himself, making sure to hold her close enough, so close that she might feel his love seep into her.
He had felt completely and utterly bereft when he had first walked in and found her lifeless, covered in blood. Like his whole world had come crashing down around him. Despite the fact that she was quite obviously distraught after whatever she had just experienced, he let the relief that she was still alive wash over him like waves washing over the soft sand on an empty shore.
It took him a few moments to muster up the strength to say anything:
‘Ssshh. It’s ok. You’re safe. Everything is going to be ok.’
Scully didn’t move her face from his shoulder. ‘B.b.b.but he was…’, ‘I was…’, ‘you weren’t…’, ‘I….I…’ was all she could manage to answer before the sobs continued.
‘Ssssh. It’s alright. I’m here. I got you.’ he replied, nuzzling his face further into her shoulder.
Another few moments passed when he suddenly remembered about the blood.
She was covered in blood. Was she hurt? Did she need help? He should get her to a hospital surely? Or at least he should check to see if she was injured?
‘Scully I need to put you down so that I can check if you’re hurt, ok? I don’t want to scare you, but there is a lot of blood and I’m worried you might need a doctor.’
‘Mhm’ she managed between sobs.
He pulled back from their embrace and scanned his eyes over her again. He couldn’t see past her shirt.
‘Scully, I’m going to need to lift your shirt to see if you’re hurt, ok? We need to check if you’re still bleeding.’
She nodded in response, not seeming to have the energy for more. He figured she must have used it all up trying to fight her attacker. He slowly unbuttoned her shirt and checked her abdomen. There didn’t seem to be any marks on her, although her shirt was drenched with blood.
‘Does it hurt anywhere? Do you feel any pain?’ He asked.
She shook her head before taking in a deep breath and letting out a sigh. ‘My heart does feel as though it’s racing though…and I feel a little woozy’ she replied. She raised her hand to her face and rubbed at her temple. He cupped her hand in his and placed the other on her other cheek.
‘Alright. Hold still. I’m going to make you comfortable but I want you to wait right here so I can call 911, ok? I think we should get someone to check you over just in case.’
He gently stroked the hair back from her face, before moving one arm behind her neck and carefully lifting her head so he could place a pillow underneath it. He gently set her head back down and reached for his cell phone so he could dial the number, watching tentatively as she swiped at the tears still flowing down her cheeks.
It seemed like forever before the operater answered. ‘911, what’s your emergency?’
‘This is Special Agent Fox Mulder from the FBI. I have an agent down. She has been attacked, possibly by a serial killer. She seems to have lost a lot of blood but I can’t seem to find any visible signs of injury. I need the paramedics to come and check her over.’
He quickly moved back over and sat down beside her. He clutched her hand between both of his and brought it up to his lips, gently planting kisses along her knuckles.
‘Help is on the way. We’ll get you all fixed up.’ He reassured her softly. He knelt down and kissed her forehead before stroking her cheek again. Although she remained silent, the tears seemed to be subsiding. He was thankful for that. He couldn’t bear it whenever he saw her cry, it broke his damn heart. She was normally so composed, so sure of herself, that it made his heart felt like it might shatter into a thousand pieces when she was so visibly emotional. They stayed that way, eyes locked on one another until the paramedics arrived. Mulder softly whispered reassurances to his beloved, silent Scully. This was their unspoken, secret language that only they understood. They didn’t need to say anything to understand what the other felt. All they needed to do was look into each other’s eyes.
His heart ached, as though someone was gripping it in a vice in his chest as he watched the paramedics hook her up to monitors and stick her with needles as they checked her over. It wasn’t until they told him she had been given the all clear that he realised he had been holding his breath, frightened that they might find something. His body relaxed for the first time since he heard the first gunshot and he let himself flop onto the sofa next to her with relief. He took her hand again, glancing over at her as her eyes met his. She gave him a weak smile as she squeezed his hand, sending a flutter up and down his spine.
The events of the day had made him realise how much he loved her, and had done for a long time. He just hadn’t allowed himself to admit it until then. He let out a small sigh as he leaned back, dreaming to himself that it might be him that Padgett was referring to when he said that Scully was already in love. Even if it wasn’t, he wasn’t about to risk anything like this happening to her again and him never having the chance to tell her how he felt.

Thank you for the Kudos! :-)
Chapter Text
Scully stared down at her hands folded in her lap.
The events of the past few hours were just starting to sink in. How had it gone from a boring, uneventful stake out, to being attacked, to breaking down in front of her partner. She felt a wave of embarrassment rise in her stomach.
She was always so careful not to let her emotions get the better of her. After spending so many years fighting so hard to gain the respect of her male counterparts she couldn’t help but feel as though showing any hint of emotion was something that could be perceived as weakness. So she had always ensured she hid her emotions away in order to maintain her tough persona. She didn’t want Mulder to think she was weak. She was sure that turning into a blubbering wreck whilst he held onto her helplessly would not have helped her plight that she was a strong, capable woman.
She chastised herself, reminding herself that, even though some of her male colleagues might, Mulder would never think badly of her. In fact, he was always the one trying to get her to open up to him. She had just been through the mill after all, almost having her heart ripped right out of her chest. Surely she would be forgiven for shedding a few tears? She wasn’t a robot after all. Maybe it wasn’t anyone else who needed to forgive her. Perhaps it was her who needed to forgive herself.
She wondered why she always felt the need to keep these walls up around herself, never letting her true feelings show. Especially in front of Mulder it seemed. Maybe it was because it was his opinion that mattered most to her? She wanted more than anything for him to think of her as strong, as his equal. Or maybe it was because she was scared. Scared of the possibility of rejection. Scared that if she let her true feelings known she might drive him away. She supposed that made her feel vulnerable. Vulnerable to the possibility of being hurt, heartbroken even, if he didn’t reciprocate her feelings and that her opening up might scare him off. Made him not want to be around her any more.
She shook that thought out of her head, not wanting to think about the possibility of not having Mulder around any more. But she couldn’t carry on hiding her feelings like this. Her last thoughts earlier that evening as she thought she was headed toward the inevitable fate of death, right there on his living room floor had been of him. If she carried on pushing him away, hiding her feelings, keeping her heart guarded then surely that would be what drove him away eventually?
She stared down at the blood stain on his rug, shuddering at the thought of what might have been.
She was also feeling slightly nervous as she tried to figure out how she might broach the subject of their relationship with him.
She turned to face him and smiled as he looked down at her, giving his hand a squeeze and letting out a small sigh to ease the tension she could feel building up in her shoulders.
‘You feeling okay Scully?’ He asked with a concerned look on his face.
‘I’m fine, Mulder. I’m just feeling a little embarrassed at my little outburst earlier. I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me’ she said tentatively.
‘Don’t be silly Scully. You have absolutely nothing to be sorry about. You have just been through a traumatic experience. Besides, it’s good for you to let it all out from time to time.’
She exhaled slowly, grateful at Mulder’s attempt to make her feel better. She was feeling uneasy, unsure if it was because the anxiety was building in the pit of her stomach as she prepared herself to open up to him or because the blood stained floor served as an unwelcome reminder of the horror of the last few hours.
‘Mulder, I think I would like to go home now. Would you drive me?’
‘Of course!’ He replied. ‘I’ll go grab my coat while you get your stuff together.’ And with that he quickly hopped off the sofa and bounded off to his bedroom to fetch his jacket and keys.
At least I seem to have bought myself a little time to compose myself and gather my thoughts. She thought to herself, almost triumphantly.
Yes, she would use the journey over to her place to think about how she was going to lay her feelings bare to him. Her perfect other, her perfect opposite. Her protector and endangerer.
Her heart fluttered as she thought about the possibilities of how this might go, a small fizz of anticipation bubbled up in her stomach. Using her hand to steady herself as she lifted herself off the sofa, she proceeded to gather her things.
Chapter 5: Seduction
Summary:
Mulder drives Scully home, but doesn’t want her to leave. But does she want to…? Mulder’s perspective.
Chapter Text
Mulder glanced over at Scully, who was sat in the passenger seat of his car. She was facing the window, deep in thought. She seemed preoccupied, distant even, and her eyes were glazed over as she stared into the darkness of the night sky. The dim lights of the street lamps and passing cars danced across the pale skin of her face.
Most of her make up had gone since she washed her face with cold water to de-puff her eyes after crying, meaning the beauty spot and freckles that she so often covered with make up were visible. If anything she looked even more beautiful than usual. He took a moment to take her in, as if watching her would somehow merge their souls together and project his thoughts to her. Soaking in the radiant vision that was Agent Scully; her flawless ivory skin, her full, rose hued lips, the sapphire blue of her eyes that were glistening in the moonlight, his heart fluttered. His mind wondered what it would feel like to taste those full lips, to feel her tongue stroke against his. How we wanted to swim in the deep blue, ocean of her eyes as he gazed into them. He yearned to tangle his fingers through her flame coloured hair…
The twitch he felt in his groin brought him back to reality and he stopped himself there before he got too carried away. He couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed that she hadn’t wanted to crash at his place. He was just about to lay his feelings bare, tell her how much he loved her and how relieved he was that she was still here, but she had looked so tense and exhausted that he decided against it. That conversation would have to wait for another day.
She had been awfully quiet since the earlier outpouring of her emotion. He wondered if she still felt embarrassed, hoping that she didn’t. She had no reason to feel embarrassed. She was the strongest person he knew. There weren’t many people who could make it through all they had faced between them and make it out the other side, still fighting.
A smile crossed his lips as he thought about the brave, incredible woman sat next to him.
How lucky was he that she allowed him to share even a portion of her life? She always followed him, without question. No matter how ridiculous his theories were or how far he made her trudge across the country chasing monsters, phantoms or even aliens, she was always there.
Right beside him.
A thought suddenly crossed his mind; why did she follow him? Why did she choose to indulge his outlandish theories and continue to take part in the wild goose chases he led them on?
Could it be because she had feelings for him?
Could she feel as strongly about him as he did about her? Was that why she stuck with him all this time? His mind flashed back to his previous thoughts of kissing her; of their lips locked together; of their bodies becoming so entangled, so entwined with one another they were no longer two people, but one entity. That thought not only cause the burning, tingling sensation in his groin to grow even stronger but also made his smile widen.
‘You okay over there Mulder? What are you smiling about?’
He had been so deep in thought he hadn’t realised she had been watching him for the past few minutes, a puzzled smile etched upon her face.
‘Where were you just then? Must have been nice judging by the dopey expression you have on your face?’ she teased, her smile growing even wider.
‘Huh?’ was all he could muster.
‘You were grinning to yourself! What was it you were thinking about? The next fruitless, escapade you are going to drag us on?’ she quipped, playfully.
He hoped the escapade he had in mind didn’t turn out to be fruitless.
‘I’m glad you’ve re-joined us on planet earth Agent Scully, even if it is to poke fun at me!’ he chuckled as she gave his forearm an affectionate squeeze. He was glad she seemed to be more relaxed.
‘Agent Mulder!’ she protested, lowering her voice. ‘If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear you were trying to change the subject.’ She had lowered her chin and was looking upwards at him with her big doe eyes.
God, she looked so sexy when she looked at him that way he thought he might melt into a puddle right there on the spot.
The lowered tone of her voice had been seductive…suggestive even. Could she be flirting with him?
Again, he shook that thought out of his head. He was letting his fantasies cloud his judgement. Scully couldn’t be trying to entice him…could she? They turned the corner into her street and he pulled up the car right outside her building.
Deciding to test out his theory, he lowered his voice to match hers and turned on the charm, trying his best to sound just as suggestive as she had done.
‘Why exactly would I do that, Agent Scully? What is it you’re trying to imply?’ He raised his eyebrows playfully at her.
She raised her eyebrows in return, letting out a small giggle.
Jesus Christ! She is getting sexier by the second, he thought to himself.
‘Mulder, I don’t much feel like spending the rest of the night alone after the evening we’ve had. Maybe we could do something to help me take my mind off it?’ she asked softly, looking so intensely into his eyes that he thought she might actually be gazing into his soul.
His voice by now was almost a whisper. ‘W-what did you have in mind?’
He was almost afraid for the answer.
She remained silent, her eyes still fixed on his. They remained that way for a few moments. Still, silent, eyes locked. It was as if time had slowed down again. He could practically see the cogs turning in her head as she was trying to work him out. It was then she took him by surprise.
In the same lowered, seductive tone she had used previously…
‘Well I guess you’ll have to come upstairs if you want to find out…’
And with that, she opened the car door and sauntered toward her door. She paused after a few steps and glanced backwards over her shoulder before giving him a little wink, a wicked smile drew across her lips, before she turned back toward her door. He noticed that she was making a conscious effort to slowly rock her hips from side to side as she walked, accentuating her curves and flaunting her ass to him.
‘Holy fuck!’
He couldn’t help but let the words slip out of his mouth.
The flame that had been ignited in his lower body earlier now burned so much he thought he might spontaneously combust! He sat there for a few seconds, mouth agape in disbelief before he quickly gathered himself and scrambled out of the car to follow her like a love sick puppy.
Chapter 6: The first step
Summary:
The journey home- Scully’s perspective.
Chapter Text
Lights danced across the dashboard of Mulder’s car creating mesmerising shapes and shadows. Scully was entranced, as if she were watching a lazer light show, lost in thought about how she might persuade Mulder to come up to her apartment. She didn’t want to be alone tonight, that’s for sure, but she was also searching for any excuse to prolong her time in his company. How she wished she were more expressive, less reserved. A deep longing throbbed within her, a longing to convey her true feelings for her partner. But there also lay a fear, a fear of rejection. Fear that her feelings may go unrequited. This fear acted as an anchor, reining her feelings in and keeping them closely tethered to her heart.
She turned her gaze to him, drinking in the sight of his strong but gentle hands gripping at the steering wheel. Her body ached to feel the caress of those hands on the bare skin of her back, his nails scraping gently as he slowly moved his hands down her spine. Her eyes moved up to his full bottom lip. How she yearned to feel the moist warmth of those lips all over her body, his tongue caressing hers as their mouths entwined together. Biting down on her bottom lip to try and suppress her urges, she couldn’t help but imagine him making sounds she had only ever dreamed of; gasps of pleasure as she kissed him, stroked him, licked him, when their bodies finally melted into one...
She felt her cheeks flush at the erotic images flashing through her mind, her breaths quickened and an ache started to develop between her thighs. She scolded herself, as though he might somehow be able to see what she was fantasising about just by looking at her. She noticed he also seemed to be deep in thought, a playful grin etched on his face.
‘You okay over there Mulder? What are you smiling about? Where were you just then? Must have been nice judging by the dopey expression you have on your face?’ She teased, hoping that engaging him in their normal banter might snap her out of it.
‘Huh?’ He answered, somewhat absentmindedly. Puzzled as to why he seemed so far away, she continued to goad him.
‘You were grinning to yourself! What was it you were thinking about? The next fruitless, escapade you are going to drag us on?’
Maybe she had taken it too far. She didn’t mind being dragged to follow up on any case so long as it meant she got to spend time with him. Her mind drifted back to her previous thoughts…
JESUS, Scully! Pull yourself together. You are an independent woman. You don’t need to follow a man around to achieve anything. She scolded herself again, almost physically shaking herself back to reality. She was right, she didn’t need to follow him, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to.
Turning to look at her with his puppy dog eyes and aiming the smile at her, he replied:
‘I’m glad you’ve re-joined us on planet earth Agent Scully, even if it is to poke fun at me!’
Her eyes were transfixed by his luscious lower lip. God, how she wanted to bite down onto it. She almost physically shook her head to regain her composure. Thinking it might help bring her back down to earth, she gave his forearm an affectionate squeeze. Just as she had done a thousand times before. Tonight, however, feeling the strong muscles and the warmth of his skin against hers seemed to send a jolt of electricity right up her arm that radiated straight down to her lower body.
‘Agent Mulder! If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear you were trying to change the subject.’ She managed, her voice raspy.
‘Why exactly would I do that, Agent Scully? What is it you’re trying to imply?’ He replied quickly in an equally raspy tone, raising his eyebrows suggestively in the process.
Shit! How is he always so quick with his replies? And that definitely was not the type of reply I was expecting! She thought to herself, taken aback that he seemed to be just as flirty as her. All she could manage was to mirror his eyebrow raise with a small, girlish giggle.
Though her head was lowered, her eyes had drifted up to look into his. They were both fixed in a deep, mesmerising gaze. Despite the thought of Mulder lusting after her nearly flooring her, she thought about shaking off her feelings one more time. Eventually, she reminded herself of all the reasons she shouldn’t put the inevitable off any longer. Mulder never let her down. He was always there for her when she needed him, wether she liked it or not. He would, and already had on several occasions, lay his life on the line if it meant it would keep her safe. Why on earth would she not want to share with him just exactly how much that meant to her? She would do anything for him and wanted to do everything to him. They remained transfixed on each others eyes for a few moments, both lapping up the practically electric atmosphere.
What the hell, she decided, if today was not enough to make me realise I should live in the moment, then what is?
‘Mulder, I don’t much feel like spending the rest of the night alone after the evening we’ve had. Maybe we could do something to help me take my mind off it?’ Her voice was soft and breathy.
‘W-what did you have in mind?’
His voice by now was almost a whisper and he seemed to be just as taken aback by her comment as she had been about his. She quietly congratulated herself that she had managed to take him by surprise. He looked bewildered, as if he were a scared animal backed into a corner, unsure of which direction to take. She really hoped she wasn’t scaring him off, but it was too late to turn back now. She had put this train into motion and all that was left to do was hope for the best.
She braced herself for the brazen step she was about to take, trying to muster every ounce of composure she had. She looked up at him and tried her best to sound as seductive as possible.
‘Well I guess you’ll have to come upstairs if you want to find out…’
With that, she got out of the car. She put on her best sexy walk as she headed toward her apartment building, turning to give him a seductive wink over her shoulder halfway. She held her breath the whole way, trying her best not to give away how nervous she was feeling.
Chapter 7: Electricity
Summary:
Sparks fly. Scully’s perspective :-)
Thanks for the kudos. Enjoy!
Chapter Text
She was still holding her breath as she fumbled with her keys, finally managing to unlock the door and make her way inside. Her heart was racing as all her thoughts were swirling around her mind. Was she making a mistake? Would she ruin their friendship, their partnership? She definitely didn’t want to lose him but she also so desperately wanted more, she wanted him in ways she only ever allowed herself to fantasise of when she was alone. Did he want the same thing? Sure, she had heard his surprised comment as she sauntered away from the car downstairs, but could that be because he was trying to figure out how to turn her down when she was so blatantly flirting with him?
Taking a few deep breaths to calm her nerves, she slowly walked over to the kitchen counter, leaning against it to steady herself. Hoping a drink might help to calm her down, she headed toward the fridge and took out a couple of beers. Taking a large gulp of her beer, she longed for the buzz of the alcohol despite the fact she was already feeling lightheaded, thinking it might help her gain some courage.
After what seemed like hours, despite it only being a few moments, Mulder finally reached her apartment, closing the door behind him. He seemed to be just as bewildered as before. His cheeks were flushed and he seemed slightly breathless. She shrugged, thinking it must be because he was out of breath from running up the stairs after her. As discreetly as she could, she looked him up and down, taking in the sight of his tall, muscular frame. She would normally chastise herself for allowing such girlish indulgences, but she decided tonight would be different. Instead, she enjoyed the various sensations that were now coursing through her body from checking her partner out. Bubbles of excitement and anticipation were swirling around her stomach, sending a burning ache down her abdomen and into her groin.
‘Beer?’ She asked, as lightly as she could manage.
‘Sure’ his reply, just as short as she was being.
She wondered if his short reply was because he was just as nervous as she was, but worried it wasn’t for the same reasons. Before she had a chance to say anything further, he interrupted her thoughts.
He fixed his eyes on hers, inching closer to her before asking in a soft, low voice:
‘Scully, I don’t know if it is intentional, but I am picking up some very strong signals here. I don’t want to be presumptuous or get the wrong idea, so I’m just going to come out with it and ask…’
He had been moving slowly closer toward her as he spoke, until they were now only inches apart. She was glad she was still leaning against the kitchen counter as she felt like she needed to steady herself. He moved closer still, placing his hands each side of her so he too was now leaning against the kitchen counter and looking down at her.
‘Why did you ask me to come up?’ he asked softly, his voice low and breathy. He had maintained eye contact throughout his questioning, his eyes fixed on hers. She felt as though he had some kind of hypnotic powers as she couldn’t bring herself to move, frozen to the spot. She was looking up at him, his face now only inches away from hers. She stared at his full, bottom lip. It took every ounce of willpower not to bite down on it there and then so she could answer his question.
‘I asked you up here because I want you…’ she started.
‘What is it that you want?’ his gaze was still fixed on hers.
‘You. I just want you.’ she said simply. She saw a glint in his eye, before a smile crept up at the corners of his mouth.
‘Is that so?’ he teased, moving ever closer until she could feel his breath mixing with hers. His nose was almost brushing against hers and he held their gaze as if daring her to take the next step.
Her lips parted and she let out a small moan. She couldn’t wait any longer. She raised herself up on her tip toes so she could reach, pressing her lips against his.
The kiss sent a jolt of electricity to surge through her whole body, causing another moan to escape her lips. He parted his lips and allowed her to move her tongue into his mouth. Reaching both hands up, she hooked her hands around his neck, pulling him down so she could reach him better, deepening the kiss. Now it was his turn to moan, as her pulled her towards him, both hands wrapped around her waist. He pressed both their bodies together. She could feel his erection against her stomach, giving away how aroused he now was. The thought that she was turning him on only served to increase the intensity of the pleasure that now coursed through her body, culminating in the burning sensation growing stronger between her thighs. She closed her eyes and ran her hands down his back, before grasping at his buttocks and pulling him even closer towards her.
‘Oh Scully!’ He sighed between kisses ‘you have no idea how many times I have thought about doing this…’
‘Oh…’ was all she could manage in return before he hungrily kissed her again. She savoured every second of feeling his velvety tongue against hers, the gentle brush of his teeth against her lower lip, the feel of his hands running through her hair. It was every bit as delicious as she had imagined. Desire and lust was now surging through her body and she had to fight hard not to take off all his clothes right there in the kitchen.
Someday we can fool around in the kitchen, but tonight we are taking this to the bedroom, she told herself.
She put her hands against his chest. Her hands were shaking as she gently pushed him back, continuing to kiss him as she manoeuvred them both over toward her bedroom.
Chapter 8: Pure ecstasy
Summary:
The culmination of many years of flirting and sexual tension. Mulder’s perspective.
This is my first ever attempt at writing anything remotely like erotica so I’m not sure how good it will be, but here goes!
I hope you enjoy guys! I certainly enjoyed writing it! :-)
Chapter Text
Every thought, every worry that had been racing through Mulder’s mind in the moments leading up to this had suddenly melted away.
Scully wanted him and she had told him so! They were kissing! She was leading him toward her bedroom. He wondered why they had waited so long to do this.
Once they had gotten to the bedroom, she pushed him down so he was sat at the bottom of the bed and he pulled her to stand between his legs. He was about to pull her on top of him when she pushed herself back slightly.
‘Undress me’ she ordered, pulling his hand towards the buttons on her shirt. She stood above him, arms slightly out to the sides just waiting for him to take her clothes off.
‘Jesus Scully, you are so fucking HOT when you’re bossy’ he said. He thought he might explode on the spot, turning into nothing but a smouldering pile of ashes. All he could think about now was of the throbbing sensation in his groin.
‘Well then, you’re going to enjoy the rest of the evening’ she stated, matter-of-factly, a smile curling at the sides of her lips.
He complied with her request, slowly unbuttoning her shirt. When he had taken off her shirt, tossing it to the side of her bedroom, he slowly unzipped her trousers, letting them drop to the floor unveiling her lacy black panties. She continued to look right into his eyes, kicking her trousers to the side of the room. He reached around her, slowly unclasping her bra and slowly pulled both straps down her arms. He inhaled deeply as he was met by the sight of her perfect breasts as they were released from her bra. Finally, she pulled his hands toward her, guiding his thumbs under the band of her panties at each side. Maintaining eye contact, she smirked slightly as he pulled off her last remaining piece of clothing. She stood completely naked in front of him.
He sat for a second, taking a moment to bask in her beauty. The swell of her pert breasts; the dark pink of her firm nipples; her taught, slender frame; her creamy, unblemished skin. She was, quite frankly, a goddess. Mulder sat, agog, feeling as though he’d won the lottery and wondering what on earth he had done to deserve this. He moved his hands toward her wanting to place them on the bare skin of her lower back, longing to pull her closer to him. She batted his hands back.
‘No, not yet…’ she ordered. Her voice was low, but firm.
‘Jesus, Scully! You are killing me here!’ he protested.
He wasn’t sure why he was so surprised by the fact she was taking the lead. Despite the fact she was normally so guarded, so demure, she was always so self assured and definitely didn’t suffer fools gladly. She knew how to hold her own and take control of any situation. Tonight, she was a temptress, using her powers of seduction to get him right where she wanted him and he was enjoying every second of it.
‘All in good time, Agent Mulder’ she purred with a seductive grin.
‘Now it’s your turn…’ she said, glaring at him from underneath her hooded eyelids ‘I want to undress you.’
She lowered her lips to his and gave him a slow, soft kiss as her hands moved toward his belt buckle. She slowly undid his belt, unbuttoned his jeans and slowly moved the zipper downwards. He could barely contain himself at the proximity of her hands to his bulging erection.
’Help me take off your jeans!’ she instructed. He kept his gaze locked onto her as he raised himself off the bed so she could pull both his jeans and his pants down in one move. His breath got heavier as she moved tantalisingly slowly, scratching her nails down his legs gently as she went.
Once his clothing had been discarded, she stepped back to look at him, a seductive smile spreading across her face.
‘Don’t leave me hanging her Scully’ he pleaded.
‘Hmmmm’ she purred, cocking her head to the side as she looked at him. ‘I love it when you beg’ she teased.
Mulder felt as though time was slowing again as he waited for her next move. She stepped closer to him, gently grabbing both his hands and guiding them to her stomach. He inhaled sharply as his hand touched her warm, silky skin.
‘Now you can touch me…’ she told him, before cupping his face in her hands and lowering her lips to his. She ran her tongue along his lower lip before giving it a quick nip. He moaned into her mouth as he hungrily sucked at her velvety tongue. He ran his hands up over her stomach towards her breasts, cupping them both in his hands and slowly, carefully kneading them. He let out another moan, stroking his thumbs around her nipples. He felt them harden in response to his touch, causing him to break away from their kiss. He took her nipple into his mouth, kissing and teasing it with his tongue while he massaged the other between his thumb and forefinger.
‘Ah, Mulder…’ she gasped, arching her back in response ‘that feels sooo good!’
She pushed his shoulders, causing him to lie back on the bed before crawling up to straddle his thighs. She lowered her upper body over his, kissing his shoulder and up his neck. He moaned again, holding onto her hips and enjoying the feeling of her nipples grazing his chest. His penis was now so hard he felt like it might burst, twitching in response to every brush against her thigh. She slowly trailed her kisses up his neck until finally reaching his earlobe. She gave it a gently suck just before whispering to him:
‘I want you to fuck me now.’
‘Oh god…’ was all he had in him to answer, all other ability to function having seemingly left him in order to concentrate on the primal urges that were taking over his body.
He lifted her hips to move her into the correct position as she grabbed his cock with her right hand, causing him to gasp. She gave one long stroke before guiding him into her folds.
‘Ah, yes!’ she writhed with pleasure in response ‘I want to feel you inside me’.
‘Fuck, Scully…’ he breathed into her ear as he used his hands to lower her onto him, slowly easing himself inside her. He ran his fingers up and down her back as she pumped slowly up and down the length of him. She was making the most heavenly noises he could ever imagine.
‘Jesus Scully, you are fucking incredible!’
She arched her back in response to that, pushing her breasts out toward him. He took each nipple in turn into his mouth, nipping and licking at them, causing her to let out more of her ethereal noises. She sat up straighter so he could no longer reach her nipples with his mouth, but raised his hands to stroke her. He slowly stroked one had over her abdomen, brushing his fingers over her nipples as he passed them, while moving his other hand down between her thighs. He eased his fingers in slow circles between her folds until resting on her bud. He continued to rub slow, rhythmic circles, increasing his speed gradually in parallel with the increasing speed of their bodies thrusting together. The pleasure was so intense it surged through his veins throughout his whole body. He could feel the inevitable wave rising up, threatening to spill over.
‘Oh my god Mulder, I’m getting close!’ she wailed, her voice now strangled into almost a whisper. ‘Oh god! Yes! Oh!’ she writhed on top of him as she came crashing down around him. He felt her walls fluttering around his penis as he continued to thrust. He kept his eyes open, drinking in the look of ecstasy etched on her face and feeling in complete awe that she was allowing him to share this moment with her. He hoped this wasn’t the only time she would allow him to share it. His desire was too much for him to contain any longer.
‘Ah fuck, Scully!’ he screamed as he let his passion spill over, emptying his desire into her perfect body. His whole body bucked and twitched uncontrollably, the pleasure of his climax so intense he thought he might pass out.
She lowered herself gently to lay on top of him, giving an affectionate giggle as she did so. He kissed her forehead before whispering.
‘Agent Scully, you are the most incredible woman I have ever met. You never cease to amaze me!’
She laid her head on his chest, stroking her hand up his sides as she replied ‘You’re not so bad yourself, Agent Mulder!’
Chapter 9: Afraid
Summary:
The morning after the night before. Scully’s perspective.
Chapter Text
Scully awoke from a deep slumber. Completely naked and entangled in her bed-sheets, she lazily stretched out her arms above her. She rubbed her eyes, trying to adjust to the darkness of the room. Only a very faint light from the early morning sunrise crept through the curtain and the world was silent. Silent except for the sound of Mulder’s gentle snoring coming from the other side of the bed. For a moment she had thought that the previous night had been a wonderful dream. She couldn’t help but smile widely to herself now that he realised it had actually happened.
She turned to face him, propping up her head with her elbow and took a moment to watch him. He was facing away from her, toward the wall, the sheet only covering his middle for modesty. His muscular torso was exposed, allowing Scully to drink in every curve of his firm back and arms and his legs poked out of the bottom of the sheet and were curled up in a foetal position. It was a rare sight to see him looking so peaceful and sleeping so soundly. Visions of the previous night’s antics floating through her mind. Whilst it had been magical to do all those things with him, she realised with a light twinge of sadness that they still hadn’t had a proper conversation about their feelings. She worried that it would end up being nothing more than one night of pleasure. A small sigh escaped her lips. She definitely didn’t want to go back to having to skirt around each other, hiding the way they truly felt. She was pretty sure she meant something at least to Mulder. He was much more expressive of his emotions and had even given her a speech about how she made him ‘a whole person’. So, what was she so afraid of? Why did she spend her whole life pushing people away. Deep down, she knew it was a fear of rejection. A fear of being hurt if she were to open up her heart and allow someone else in.
She shifted her body closer to him, slotting legs behind his and pressing her chest against his back. She nuzzled her face in between his shoulders. His warm, musky scent filled her nostrils, calming her, soothing her as it always seemed to. So many times when she had been in turmoil he had embraced her, allowing her to presss her face against him and to breathe in his calming aroma. After a few moments, Mulder stirred and turned himself to face her, she moved back to allow him room and returned to propping up her head with her elbow. Upon realising she was already awake, he lifted his head off the pillow and propped himself up on his elbow, facing toward her and mirroring her position. He looked at her through sleepy, half open eyes and a smile crept across his lips.
‘Hey!’ he said, his voice still raspy from sleep ‘you’re awake early!’
‘I woke up thinking that lastnight had all been a dream…’ she started
‘A good dream I hope?’ he interrupted, a hint of uncertainty and vulnerability coming through in his voice.
‘Yes, a good dream. A wonderful dream.’ she smiled, reaching her hand out to stroke his arm. ‘You know, Mulder. We never really talked much before we um…’ she trailed off, distracted by the firmness of his muscular bicep.
‘No, we didn’t. What was it you wanted to talk to me about?’ he was teasing her now and she knew it. He knew how difficult she found it to open up and really talk about things. She always locked that part of herself away.
‘Well…’ she started nervously ‘about our…um…our feelings for each other.’ She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks and was sure her face was now turning the same colour as her hair.
‘Scully, I think actions speak louder than words, don’t you?’ he quipped.
‘Yes, but those actions don’t…well…ummm…finding someone attractive and wanting to do that doesn’t necessarily mean…’
Mulder deep hazel eyes locked with hers, his gaze feeling as if it were boring into her soul. She bit down on her bottom lip to try and suppress the anxiety that was swirling around her stomach.
‘I meant what I said when I told you that you made me a whole person. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without you and I will do everything in my power to make sure that I never have to find out.’ he took a pause, searching her face for clues to her reaction before looking right into her eyes again and continuing. ‘I am totally, hopelessly, desperately in love with you and have hoped for so long that you might feel the same way about me. In some ways I already know that you do. I’ve lost count of how many times you’ve put your own life on the line in order to save my sorry ass and you do it without hesitation, without question. We have been through so much together and still, despite all the hardship and the heartbreak, you continue to follow me’.
Tears brimmed in Scully’s eyes. She always knew deep down that he cared deeply about her, but there was something about hearing him say them out loud that made her heart ache.
‘Oh Mulder, I am tired of being afraid.’ she sniffed.
‘Afraid of what?’ he asked with a look of concern in his eyes.
‘Afraid of telling you…of showing you how I really feel. I keep pushing you away, not letting you in, because I’m afraid that in the end I might lose you.’ a small sob excaped her throat as she finished her sentence.
‘Scully, you are not going to lose me.’ he reassured her, pulling her into his arms and holding her tightly. He stroked the side of her face to soothe her, and it was working. After a few moments he took in a deep breath and replied.
‘When I walked into that apartment lastnight, I thought you had been taken from me and I really, really felt as though the world was caving in around me.I have never been so relieved as when you opened your eyes, even if it was to fight me!’ He was teasing her again, trying to lighten the mood. He pushed her back so he could look at her again. The feel of his strong hands on her skin was sending a shiver up and down her spine.
‘Seriously though, Scully…I have never wanted anything more than this. I have never felt this way about anyone. As scary as that may be, the thought of going on without you is a million times worse…’ he trailed off for a second, looking into her eyes, trying to read her expression.
‘I love you Mulder!’ She sniffed. She nuzzled her face back into his chest and wrapping her arms around him. She took in a deep breath, drinking in his soothing scent again. She closed her eyes and hummed softly to herself, giving him a tight squeeze. His heat was penetrating through her whole body and her insides were igniting. An ache was growing in her lower body, concentrating again in a depp, intense fire between her thighs. She pursed her lips and pressed them against his sternum.
‘Mmmm Scully. I’m warning you, if you carry on doing that I might not have control over a certain body part…’ he pulled her closer toward him and kissed the top of her head.
’Maybe that’s the plan…’ she looked up at him and raised one eyebrow suggestively.
Chapter 10: Unchartered waters
Summary:
The morning after from Mulder’s perspective.
Sorry this chapter has taken me so long. Life keeps getting in the way, HA HA!
Hope you enjoy :-)
Chapter Text
The feel of Scully gently snuggling up to his back awoke Mulder from his blissful dream. For a moment he thought it had all been just a dream, but then he felt her nuzzle her face in between his shoulder blades and inhaling deeply. She had wrapped her arms around him and Mulder could feel the warmth radiating from her naked body seeping into his every pore, lighting his insides on fire. The memories from the previous evening. was making his heart race and his stomach flip. He and Scully had crossed the line, which only days previously had seemed impossible to reach. He lay still, lost in thoughts of how they could navigate the unchartered waters of this new aspect of their relationship together. Despite enjoying every second and the intense feeling of peace which came from lying in her embrace, he couldn’t resist the temptation of turning around to look at her, to talk to her. He shifted his body forward and turned over to face her. He propped his head up on his elbow so he could get a better look at her. She was intensely beautiful, her copper hair shining like precious metal in the faint morning light. He would happily lose himself in the ocean of her large blue eyes, her full, pink lips like delicate roses. He couldn’t help but smile as in that moment he felt nothing but intense happiness.
‘Hey!’ he said, softly ‘you’re awake early!’
‘I woke up thinking that lastnight had all been a dream…’ she started. Her voice sounded shaky and she seemed nervous. Mulder started to worry that she was having doubts, that maybe she regretted everything that had happened between them. He couldn’t bear the thought that she might not want him after all.
‘A good dream I hope?’ was all he could manage since the anxiety seemed to be choking him.
Relief swept over him when she confirmed it was a wonderful dream. He almost pumped his fist in delight, but stopped himself at the last minute. He felt like a child on Christmas morning as he listened intently as she was finally opening up to him. His heart almost brimmed over with love and excitement as she told him that the reason she had held back all this time was out of fear of losing him. It was all starting to make sense to him now. That’s what had been causing her to shut him out all these years, to keep part of herself locked away for nobody to see. She didn’t want to lose him. The possibility that he might be gone and she would be left without him frightened her. He breathed an internal sigh of relief upon hearing her words, because it was as if she were reading out his own thoughts and fears. He wanted nothing more than to help her understand how much she meant to him, so he tried to ease her worries.
She was sobbing now. Seeing her emotional was such a rare thing it always brought a lump to his own throat. She was always so composed. He had to fight hard to hold back his own emotions and wanted to reiterate his point to comfort her, to fill her with all the love he had for her, hoping that it would warm her the way it did him. He stroked the side of her face as that always seemed to calm her, to ground her.
‘Scully, you are not going to lose me.When I walked into that apartment lastnight, I thought you had been taken from me and I really, really felt as though the world was caving in around me. I have never been so relieved as when you opened your eyes, even if it was to fight me!’ He meant every word. Although they had been in peril so many times, the thought of losing her was by far the scariest thought of all.
‘Seriously though, Scully…I have never wanted anything more than this. I have never felt this way about anyone. As scary as that may be, the thought of going on without you is a million times worse…’ he trailed off for a second, looking into her eyes, trying to read her expression. She seemed to be calmer, mellowed even. Her eyelids were looking heavier and she was looking at him now through hooded eyes. He pulled her into his arms and she squeezed him tightly, taking a long breath as she nuzzled her face into his chest.
‘I love you Mulder!’ she sniffed.
His insides did a flip upon hearing those words! She loved him back. He felt like the luckiest man on Earth. He felt a familiar twitch in his lower body as she started to kiss his sternum, her warm breath was simmering against his chest, starting an ache deep inside him.
‘Mmmm Scully. I’m warning you, if you carry on doing that I might not have control over a certain body part…’ he pulled her closer toward him and kissed the top of her head.
’Maybe that’s the plan…’ she looked up at him and cocked her eyebrow.
After lastnight, he knew exactly what that meant. He flipped her over until she was flat on her back and he pressed down over her, his upper body supported by his elbows each side of her. He lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers, kissing her hungrily, sliding his tongue into her mouth and entwining it with hers. He ran his fingers through her hair, brushing it off her face, before cupping both sides of her face with his hands, wanting so desperately to pull her even closer to him.
‘Hmmmm’ she moaned into his mouth, twisting her fingers into his hair with one hand while running the other down his back, scratching her nails along his skin lightly. He broke their kiss and ran his nose along her cheek, down her neck and onto her shoulder, leaving a trail of gentle kisses as he went.
‘You are so beautiful Dana Scully. Right now I can’t believe that we are doing this. I can’t believe I’m lucky enough that you want to share every little part of you with me’.
‘Right now Mulder, I’m wondering why I didn’t share it all with you sooner’ she grinned. ‘I especially regret not letting you share a certain part of you with me sooner!’ she quipped, wagging her eyebrows.
‘Well we have a lot of lost time to make up for then don’t we!’ he joked, followed by a chuckle, the huskiness of his voice giving away his current state of arousal.
‘We do indeed…’ she replied, her voice just as husky, before pulling him down for another kiss.
