Chapter Text

Hinata, Yachi, and Yamaguchi were tired of it all.

Tired of the bullying.

Of the anxiety.

Of the consent people putting them down.

Hinata was tired of the “shrimp” “boke” “short” comments from his own team.

Hinata was tired of his family life. An absent father, a drunk mother, and a small sister who only had one positive role model. Hinata would do anything for his sister.

Yachi was tired of her mother's constant nitpicking and manipulation.

Yachi was tired of the slutty comments she got during school. So what, she managed the boy's volleyball team that doesn’t make her a slut! 

Yamaguchi was tired of the bullies, of Tsukishima’s salty and hurtful remarks. 

He was tired of his parents acting like everything was okay in public when behind closed doors all they ever do is fight.

The three were so done.

One night when Yachi’s mom was away the first years all planned a sleepover. Tsukishima had stood them up and Kageyama wasn’t allowed to spend the night so it was just the three of them.

The three got closer and learned so much about each other.

10. They all had anxiety.

Yachi has a panic disorder, Yamaguchi has social anxiety while Hinata, surprisingly, has OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)

2. They’ve all been bullied and no one ever really stepped in to help them. Most of the time they made the problem worse. 

For Yamaguchi it was befriending Tsukishima, he stopped the bullies for a while but became a worse bully to Yamaguchi.

For Yachi it was her mother, her mother just used the things her bullies said and made it as Yachi was these things. Like when the bullies said she was stupid her mom would say, “you should study more to be less stupid”

And lastly, for Hinata his short stature and love for volleyball. He was short, he knows. He’s malnourished and has an Eating Disorder from not being allowed to eat as a punishment when he was younger.

You don’t need to remind him.

And lastly, they were all done with this town.

The town that has brought them nothing but pain.

So they became runaways one night.

They ran away, with Natsu Hinata, for a weekend. Nobody noticed they were gone. They missed practice and only one person noticed. Their own parents didn’t notice or care.

That one person was Kiyoko.

It made them realize how little they cared about those around them.

So they four did it again, and again. For longer periods of time. Until they never came back. They told Kiyoko every time they left until they finally had enough and told her they weren’t coming back.

Yachi: Kiyoko~san

Kiyoko: Yes, Yachi?

Yachi: I don’t think we are coming back…

Hinata: I’m sorry Kiyoko…it’s just too much. We need a place to stay for a short while then we may leave.

Kiyoko: Oh…I have an idea that way we can still see each other.

Yamaguchi: What is it?

Hinata: ^

Yachi: ^^

Kiyoko: Well, my family has a vacation house on the outskirts of Tokyo. I could see if you could stay there.

Yamaguchi: Kiyoko, you are a goddess. A. Goddess.

Yachi: ^^^^^^^^

Hinata: THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH KIYOKO~SAN!!

Kiyoko: Of course! Anything for you three!! Also please just call me Kiyoko.

Hinata: Okie Kiyoko!!

Yachi: Of course Kiyoko!

Yamaguchi: Oh sure! If that’s what you want?

Kiyoko: It is

The three ended up being able to stay there.

The Kiyoko family was even nice enough to drive them out there and fully restock the pantry for them. Kiyoko would even be allowed to come every other weekend to visit the four.

Hinata immediately put his sister in a local school, Nekoma Elementary School.

“Guys…”

“Yes, Hina?” Yamaguchi called out.

“Yes, Hina~Kun?”

“The closest high school is Nekoma High School,” Hinata started, “Wouldn’t it be funny for some old crows to join the cats.”

“That would be…ironic,” Yamaguchi stated.

“Why would it be Yama?” Yachi asked.

“Well think about it, everyone said Hinata could fly right. Well what if he doesn’t fly but instead he is a cat jumping high! Right, this would also give Nekoma an incredible advantage,” Yamaguchi listed out.

“It would. You would have a very strong offensive player who has great midair control along with an incredible pitch server and two new middle blockers. On top of that, I can help out and be a manager!” Yachi commented.

“Then it’s done. I’ll enroll us all now. I’m putting the Kiyoko’s as our guardians because they technically are.”

“Okay, Hina!”

“We start in 1 week’s time,” Hinata said.

It took the team 5 days to realize they were gone.

They realized once Kageyama made a set for Hinata but it hit the floor. Kageyama looked around the gym to yell at Hinata only to realize the small tangerine wasn’t there.

“Hey guys,” Kageyama yelled.

“Yes, Kageyama~Kun?” Daichi asked.

“Where's that boke,” this made everyone freeze and look around.

“Wait! My baby!!” Suga yelled, while frantically looking for the sunshine boy.

“Yamaguchi is missing too,” Ennoshita pointed out.

“..so is Yachi,” Kiyoko commented, despite knowing where they were.

“Our goddess!” Tanaka and Noya yelled only to be hit by Daichi.

“Now's not the time to be simps.”

“Sorry Captain,” Tanaka said.

“Sorry Daichi~San,” Noya called out.

“Can anyone try calling them?” Daichi asked. Almost everyone rushed to their bags, the only ones who didn’t were Daichi, Tsukishima, Kinoshita, and Narita.

Kiyoko walked slowly to her bag and went into the group chat she had with the runaways.

Yachi: This group chat needs some spice.

Yachi changed the group chats name to ✨Sisters with Blisters✨

Yamaguchi:I don’t like that what about

Hinata: That’s fitting but I also like

Yachi: YES!!

Yamaguchi: That is amazing Hina!

Hinata: Thank chu!!

Yachi: Wait, let's also change our names!!

Le Goddess: Guys, we have a problem

Le Goddess: Also, I love the gc name Hina and amazing names Yachi!

Le Princess: *gay panic*

Le Cinnamon Roll: Imagine being gay- couldn’t be me.

Le Simp: Says bi disaster-

Le Simp: Touché

Le Goddess: Guys! We have a problem!!

Le Princess: Yes, Kiyoko?

Le Goddess: The team found out and are texting/calling you three.

Le Cinnamon Roll: Good thing we blocked them 😎

Le Goddess: Yes but Coach is calling your parents

Le Simp: Shit-

Le Princess: What’s wrong, Hinata?

Le Simp: If they say someone kidnapped us and finds us at Kiyoko’s house her parents can get thrown in jail.

Le Goddess: Actually, they can’t.

Le Simp: What do you mean?

Le Goddess: My parents are going to bring a contract today that states you are “leasing” the house. If the government finds you then technically we can't get in trouble.

Le Cinnamon Roll: That’s smart!!

Le Goddess: I have to go. Don’t wanna look fishy. I love you guys, please stay safe! Take care of Yachi for me!

Le Princess : Hsjsjwhkwsjsb

Le Simp: Simp

Le Cinnamon Roll: Simp

Le Princess : sHuSH

Kiyoko turned her phone off and put on a saddened yet neutral expression.

“Nothing,” Daichi asks before Kiyoko shakes her head. Kiyoko looked down and had a tear in her eye.

How could this team just forget those first years for 5 days straight? They….they deserved so much better. Kiyoko hoped Nekoma treat them better than Karasuno ever did. Kiyoko would sit here for as long as she could take it.

Besides, it was part of the plan.

Chapter Text

Kiyoko’s family came with Kiyoko 3 hours after volleyball practice was over, it would have been longer but Kiyoko lied and said she had a family emergency.

The contract was signed and the four runaways even invited the Kiyokos for dinner. Hinata, contrary to many people's thoughts, was an excellent cook. Hinata and Natsu typically cooked together before and after they ran away as a small bonding thing they did together.

Cooking always seemed to help calm the siblings down and make them less hyper. He knew this because cooking always keeps intrusive thoughts away for the both of them and helped with their ADHD. The Kiyokos, Yachi, and Yamaguchi all complemented their cooking while Natsu smiled.

Soon dinner came to an end and the Kiyokos left to go home, Yachi and Yamaguchi started to clean up and turned down any help from the gingers.

While Yachi and Yamaguchi cleaned up, Shoyo and Natsu went to the beach and played some volleyball on the sand. It was mostly Shoyo teaching Natsu, not that either Hinata cared.

The sand made it harder to play, but something about it drew the Hinata’s in. 

“Nii~Chan!” Natsu excitedly yelled while attempting, and failing, to receive the volleyball.

“Yes Natsu~Chan?” Shoyo asked while he ran over to the ball.

“Wouldn’t it be cool if you played volleyball but on sand?” Natsu asked while jumping.

“It would Natsu~Chan!!” Shoyo replied while jumping along with his sister.

“You should!” 

“But Natsu~Chan beach volleyball isn’t popular in Japan. I would have to go to a foreign country far away.” Shoyo explained as he continued to jump.

“Well, I would support you!! As long as we call daily, I don’t care!”

“Awwe, thank you, Natsu~Chan,” Shoyo said softly.

“Of course Nii~Chan! You're my Shoyo~Nii and I gotta stay by your side!”

“Natsu,” Shoyo yelled as he started to cry. 

The two were about to hug but were interrupted by a scream.

“What was that Nii~Chan?” Natsu asked, her voice shaky.

“I’m not sure. Uh, let's go see if anyone needs help!” Shoyo stated.

“Okay Nii~Chan!”

The two ran towards the sound they heard, it led to two teen-looking girls fighting with a much older man.

The first girl had long strawberry blonde hair put into braids. She was wearing a cropped halter top that was pink with red strawberries. She was also wearing white denim jeans with holes and white sandals.

The second girl had black hair cascading down her back. She was wearing a black and pink tie-dye crop top with black denim shorts and high-top black converse.

Finally, the man had a mustache with black and gray hair. He was balding and had on dark blue gym shorts with a loose black shirt.

“What’s going on?” Shoyo called out to the three.

“Help!” One of the girls yelled as the guy tried to grab her.

“Stay out of it boy,” The man made known as he grinded his teeth.

Shoyo ran to the girl not being grabbed at and asked, “What’s happening?”

“We were relaxing at the beach,” The girl began, “When he came. We thought nothing of it at first but Katsuki~Chan got ‘red flags’ as she calls it. I started to feel creeped out when she told me to slowly and casually start packing while not bringing attention to it.

“So I did that and got almost everything but the blanket in the bag we brought when Katsuki~Chan suddenly grabbed the blanket with one hand and my hand with her other. Katsuki~Chan then took off with me chasing behind her. The man put his phone away and started running after us.”

“Okay, I’ll go help Katsuki~Chan as you call her. Why don’t you stay here and hug my sister,” Shoyo reassured the girl.

“Thank you so much!” The lady bowed at Shoyo.

Shoyo called the cops and explained the situation before giving the phone to the black haired lady and running towards the blonde fighting the older man, he separated the two. Quickly pushing the young teen towards her friend.

“Sir! What's going on? Why are you harassing these two ladies?” Shoyo demanded.

“She killed my wife!” The man, obviously drunk, yelled.

“How did she kill your wife?”

“That slut,” the man slurred, “killed my wife during childbirth!”

“Technically speaking, you are more to blame than she is,” Shoyo stated before looking at the girl, “Have you ever met this man in your life?” 

“N- no,” The girl shakily responded, “My parents own an inn a bit out of uh town. We took the train here.”

“What do you mean!” The drunk man sneered.

“You got your wife pregnant so it’s your fault she had to go through childbirth to begin with.” Shoyo revealed.

“No! It’s not! She wanted a child!”

“Yet,” Shoyo countered, “You still got her pregnant.”

The man let out a low sound, getting more and more pissed off by the minute. 

“Imma beat you boy,” the man yelled while swinging. If Shoyo wasn’t a volleyball player with insane reflexes he would have been sucker punched to the face but was able to duck down and avoid the punch.

“Sir I don’t want to fight you!” Shoyo said loudly.

“I don’t care,” The man harshly screamed while anger raged in his eyes.

Luckily before he could swing again police sirens were heard. The man immediately tried to run but was cut off by a mob of people who came to watch.

The police soon arrested him and Shoyo smiled at the two ladies before leaving with Natsu.

“I’m tired and emotionally drained,” Shoyo mumbled more to himself than Natsu.

“I am too,” Natsu agreed.

“Movie night with couch cuddles?” Shoyo asked his sister.

“Yes! First one there gets to pick out the movie!” Natsu yelled while running towards the beach house.

“No fair! You got a head start!” Shoyo said while chasing after his sister.

Nekoma was big.

Scratch that Nekoma was humongous. There were at least 4 floors and too many hallways.

Hinata Shoyo, Yamaguchi Tadashi and Yachi Hitoka were all completely and utterly lost. Class must have started like 10 minutes ago and the trio were still looking for the principal office.

“So do you mind this not being a surprise to someone?” Hinata asked the others.

“If it helps us find the principal office, no.” Yachi immediately said. Her anxiety through the roof at the thought of being expelled on her first day.

Hinata immediately went on his phone and texted the one person he knew was on some sort of device.

Yes Shoyo?

Wouldn't you be in class?

About that so we (Yachi, Yamaguchi and Me) all transferred to a new school

You did? I thought you loved being a crow?

I did but see we all have really bad home lives and school made it worse so we ran away and Karasuno just now found out but like we’ve been gone for what? Almost a week now?

Oh wow…

Yeah anyways we transferred schools but we are losssttt

Oh, how can I help?

You really are dense Kenma...Why would I be asking you where to go if I didn’t transfer to Nekoma

Wait, really?

Uh huh but like I have no idea where we are at.

Let me get out of class real quick and I'll try and find you. What floor are you on?

The third or fourth? 

“What floor are we on?” Hinata asked his two companions. 

“Third I think?” Yamaguchi said as he looked out the window.

Third.

Okay. Just stay there.

Okie Dokie!

“Kenma’s coming!”

“Of course you text Kenma,” Yachi teased.

“Hey what’s that supposed to mean!”

Kenam couldn’t believe it. His...something was here. He refused to believe he had a crush on Hinata, not like Hinata would ever like someone like him. Kenma had more problems than solutions.

Kenma switched apps to Discord and opened up the Nekoma Volleyball Server. He was about to regret this.

Cats play ball too! Nya~

GamerCat: Who changed the name?

RoosterCat: What’s this?

Rooster Cat: Kenma’s typing first?

SmolCat: Kuroo shut up

SmolCat: Also thats a valid question, who changed the group chat?

CityCat: Probably Kuroo

RoosterCat: Hey! It’s a good name!

CityCat: I never said it wasn’t ;-;

GamerCat: I don’t care at this point. Anyways Shoyo, Yamaguchi and Yachi are lost on the third or fourth floor and I’m gonna need help looking for them.

SmolCat: 1. Why are they here?

SmolCat: 2. How do you know this
SmolCat: and 3 are there other crows here?

GamerCat: I’ll explain later, we just need to find them.

SmolCat: Fine. @TallCat

TallCat: Yes Yaku~San?

SmolCat: If you skip class to help us look I’m adding an additional 30 receives. Understand.

TallCat: Understood!

Kenma sighed at his team’s antics before raising his hand.

“Yes Kozume?” His sensei asked.

“Can I go to the bathroom Sensei?”

“Be quick, Kozume.”

“Thank you Sensei!”

Kenma bowed to his teacher before exiting the class and going towards the staircase. He was on the second floor, where the second year classes were. The third floor was for third years while the fourth was extra rooms, club rooms, teacher rooms and college courses. 

Kenma went up the stairs, if we were going slightly faster than normal nobody mentioned it. Kenma looked around the halls and stayed by windows since that would probably be faster. When Kenma was turning a corner he accidentally bumped into a body.

Kuroo and Yaku both had their first block together as a study period, the teacher didn’t care what you did as long as you showed up. Yaku and Kuroo both left class together and started looking around the third floor for the three lost first years. 

Kuroo and Yaku decided to separate and Yaku would cover the third floor while Kuroo went to the fourth floor. Yaku walked towards the small study areas on the third floor while Kuroo headed towards the stairs.

As Kuroo was turning a corner he bumped into a small body.

“Shit sorry- oh Kenma?”

“Kuro?”

“Yup. Well I’m headed towards the fourth floor. Yaku’s already searching this floor.”

“Okay, I'm going to keep looking here.”

“Alright, bye Kenmaa!”

“Bye Kuro.”

Lev knew this was a bad idea. He knew he was supposed to stay in class but the saying does go ‘Curiosity killed the cat’. Lev skillfully, or not so skillfully, moved around the second floor. He just had to hope not to run into Yaku and he’ll be fine. 

Lev walked down a hallway and heard talking, he quickly walked towards the sound only to see three teachers talking. Lev turned the other direction and quickly got out of there. Detention would be worse than getting caught by Yaku because Yaku would punish him for sneaking out and getting detention. On top of that coach would give him an extra workout, most likely suicides. And like the name they made your legs wanna die.

Lev then had a brilliant idea, he would just call Hinata.

Calling…

“Hello? Lev”

“Hinata! Can you tell me where you are?”

“I would if I knew.”

“Okay do you see any classrooms?”

“Yeahh it says 4-h”

“Shittt” Lev cussed.

“ What?”

“I’m gonna have to sneak past Yaku. Okay wait there.” 

“ Okay?”

Lev quietly snuck over to the staircase and ran up the stairs to the third floor. He looked around the coast to see it was clear before rushing up to the fourth floor.

Lev looked and saw Kuroo turning a corner and immediately froze before waiting for Kuroo to leave. Lev let out a sigh of relief as he walked the other way Kuroo went.

“Okay,” Lev thought out loud, “4-H should be this way.”

Lev walked straight and soon enough saw three teens awkwardly standing in the middle of the hallway.

“Hinata! Have you grown at all?” Lev yelled out.

“You can’t just ask someone that!” Hinata remarked.

“Oh.. well I’ve grown 2 mm!” Lev taunted.

“Gahh!”

“Hey uh no more um teasing Hina~Kun please!” Yachi, the angelic being she is, stepped in.

“Okay okay fine,” Lev agreed.

“Now can you show us to the principal's office?” Yamaguchi asked.

“Sure! Follow me!” 

The four all walked down the stairs however Lev forgot to look and sneak around and ran right into Kenma.

“Kenma~San!” Lev squeaked.

“Lev… why aren’t you in class?”

“Cause I calledHinataandwenttofindhimat1-4 (called Hinata and went to find him at 1-4).”

“Shoyo!”

“Kenma!”

The two hugged, completely forgetting about the others around them.

“Your really here?” Kenma asked while nuzzling into Hinata’s warmth.

“Mmh, I am Kenma.”

“Yeah! Kenma he really is,” Lev said, completely killing the vibe.

“Ugh Lev your so annoying,” Kenma groaned.

“Huh? What did I do?” Lev asked.

“Everything.”

“Can we uh go to the principal's office now?” Yamaguchi asked.

“Sure,” Lev agreed before walking down the stairs again.

“Let me tell everyone that I found out,” Kenma commented as he pulled out his phone.

Cats play ball too! Nya~

GamerCat: I found them

RoosterCat: Oh thank heavens.

SmolCat: Good job Kenma. 

SmolCat: Was Lev involved?

TallCat: Rood Yaku~San!

TallCat: I stayed in class like you said!

GamerCat: I didn’t see him at all so I bet he did.

RoosterCat: Where are you at Kenma~?

GamerCat: The main stairs walking towards the first floor.

“Shooott,” Lev groaned, “I gotta run to class before Yaku finds me. Bye Hinata! Bye Yachi~Chan! Bye Yamaguchi~Kun!” 

“Bye bye!” Hinata cheered out before turning to Kenma.

“Bye Lev~Kun!” Yachi whispered.

“Bai!” Yamaguchi said.
