Chapter 1: Private Island

Chapter Text

Ladybug nibbled on her lip nervously, running a hand through her hair. She shot a glance over to the boy next to her who was staring at her with the sweetest, most perfect, handsome smile on his face. Her heart stumbled in her chest as Adrien gave her a quick wave. How was she going to get them out of this mess when she didn’t even know if she wanted to get them out?!

She huffed out a quiet sigh, her lips twisting to the side as she kicked down at the hot sand underneath her feet. For some reason, the akuma was sending people to their most dreamed-about destinations. Obviously, it must have hit her because this truly was her dream vacation. Stuck on a private island alone with Adrien. This was perfection. And it was just her luck that she needed to somehow get the both of them out of here.

Ladybug sucked in a deep breath of air for courage before turning to face her crush with a small, determined smile. “I-I’m sorry for getting us into this mess, Adrien. I promise you that I’ll find us a way out, though.”

Adrien blinked at her in shock before he grinned over at her, scratching the back of his neck. “Don’t worry about it, Ladybug. This isn’t exactly a nightmare situation.” He chuckled, causing her heart to thump even louder before he gestured at the cool, blue ocean water. “It’s pretty perfect out here.”

She flushed faintly, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear as she looked at him. He really was the sweetest boy she knew. Shaking her head once fiercely to snap herself back into focus, she called on her Lucky Charm. Frowning in confusion when a pool noodle dropped into her hand, Ladybug looked around to see if she could figure out what she was supposed to do with this.

“A pool noodle... really?! We’re in the middle of an island,” she muttered, scratching her head when nothing obvious jumped out at her.

Adrien laughed and she turned her head to look at him as he took a few steps closer to her. His hand rested on her shoulder and she felt warmth race up her arm from where he touched her. “I’m sure you’ll figure it out. You always do.”

“Thanks, Adrien.” Ladybug giggled, feeling rather giddy. Adrien was praising her. How lucky was she?! Feeling more determined, and eager to impress him, she looked around the island they were on again. Her eyes narrowed when something shimmered toward the opposite edge of the beach they were standing on. Tightening her grip on the pool noodle, she crept over towards it, Adrien following a few paces behind her.

When she finally got to the shiny object, she frowned down at it in confusion. “A bowl of oatmeal?” Ladybug muttered, lifting up the bowl as she examined it.

As she was doing so, something smacked onto the back of her head, causing her to whirl around, brandishing the pool noodle as a weapon. She blinked down in surprise at another object. This time it was a shiny, red apple. Tilting her head with curiosity, Adrien spoke up again, amusement shining in his voice. “Are you hungry?”

Ladybug laughed, shaking her head as she put the apple back down. “Now that I think about it, yeah, I kinda am.”

As she said those words, both she and Adrien whipped their heads up as a loud whooshing sound came from above them. A portal in the sky opened and she got a small glimpse of Paris before grapes began raining down. In the next second the portal closed and she frowned as a plan began forming in her mind. Unhooking her yo-yo from around her hip, she began to twirl it in the air. Confidence fueling her movements, she tugged Adrien close to her, blushing red once again as their gazes met. She giggled shyly before gesturing up at the sky. “Sorry, I just have a plan.”

“That’s fine,” he gave her a smile filled with what almost seemed to be adoration. “I trust you. I already told you that you would figure this out.”

Keeping her squeal of happiness away, she shoved down the giddiness his words brought her. Instead, Ladybug narrowed her gaze in concentration before wishing for more food, feeling a brush of satisfaction as the whooshing sound blared once again. As soon as the portal opened up, she threw her yo-yo into it, yanking both of them out once it wrapped around something sturdy.

“Shut your eyes!” Ladybug yelled over at Adrien before they shot out of the portal. Together, they skidded on grass, her arm wrapping around his head to protect him as they were brought back to Paris. After they had safely stopped, she quickly checked him over, looking for any bruises. “Are you alright, Adrien?! Did you get hurt at all?!”

“No, no, I’m fine, Ladybug! I promise,” he spoke sincerely, staring up at her with a pair of sparkling, green eyes. “Thanks for getting us out of there. Even if that island was a little different from the usual akuma attack.”

She gave him a soft smile before standing up and offering him a hand to help him up to his feet. He took it gratefully and she tried to keep herself from completely freaking out over the fact that Adrien was holding onto her hand.

Ladybug sucked in a harsh breath through her teeth though when her earrings beeped and she was thrust back into reality. The pool noodle... right. She still needed to figure out how to use it against the akuma. Worrying on her lower lip, she peered up at him from beneath her lashes. “Are you going to be alright, Adrien? I’m really sorry but Chat Noir is probably worried about where I am. I should probably be heading back into the battle.”

He almost seemed to blink at her in shock, his eyes lighting up in what almost seemed like realization. He scrubbed a hand down his face before nodding rapidly. “No, I’m perfectly fine, Ladybug, honestly. Y-you’re right. Chat Noir is probably worried right now. I can get myself to safety just fine. But... thanks again for rescuing me.”

She gave him another easy smile. “It was no problem at all, Adrien. Honestly, it was kind of nice to be on a private island for a little bit.”

“Yeah?” he asked, looking at her rather shyly.

Her grin got wider and she bobbed her head up and down. Before she could get too lost in his perfect, green eyes, however, her earrings let out another beep and Ladybug’s eyes widened in panic. Giving him a quick wave, she bid him goodbye. “See you around, Adrien.”

Just as she had swung out of earshot, Adrien murmured quietly after her retreating figure, “Sooner than you think, m’lady.” He twisted his ring around his finger once before bolting off into an abandoned section of the park, ready to go help her out once again.

Chapter Text

“We can’t keep doing this,” Ladybug murmured even as her fingers tangled in Adrien’s hair, pulling him to her in another sweet, passionate kiss.

“I know,” he spoke breathily after pulling away for a few, deep breaths of air.

She nibbled on her bottom lip as she peered up at him from beneath her lashes. His chest was heaving with every bit of air he sucked in. His clothes were ruffled and his emerald green eyes had darkened considerably as he stared at her almost desperately. His lips were swollen with her kisses and when his tongue slowly peeked out to wet them, Ladybug groaned before capturing him in another kiss.

She really shouldn’t keep doing this. If Hawkmoth ever found out that she was engaged in a relationship with a civilian he could hurt Adrien and everyone he loved. She just couldn’t let that happen. But it wasn’t fair! She and Adrien were in love! Why should she have to give that all up in favor of an evil supervillain?

With a small sigh, Ladybug pulled away from him and his tempting lips once again. His eyes had fluttered closed during their makeout session but they slowly opened again as he met her gaze. She felt her heart thump wildly in her chest as her whole body ached to connect their lips once again. Forcing herself to fight the temptation, she clenched her fists tightly on his white couch.

“I-I’m sorry,” Adrien stuttered out in a quiet murmur, glancing away from her as he scratched the back of his neck. “That was my fault.”

Ladybug chuckled bitterly, shaking her head as she gave him a sad look. “No, Adrien. That was all me. I should be the one apologizing. You’re just so tempting.”

He turned back to stare at her with a pair of wide, surprised eyes. This time, she whipped her head away as he gave her an eager smile. Shutting her eyes tight, she refused to look at him this time. He always looked so cute, boyish, and eager that it pained her not to pull him into another kiss. She needed to resist! She couldn’t risk Adrien getting hurt. He was too important to her.

“Wait, but if you like kissing me and I like kissing you... what’s the problem?” Adrien asked earnestly. Ladybug was certain that if she connected their gazes again, his eyes would be sparkling. How could one boy be so cute?

Heaving another quiet sigh, she steeled herself before opening her eyes. Her resolve weakened slightly as she saw his adorable smile. Feeling slightly weak and jittery, she shook her head slowly, sucking in a deep breath. “Because I can’t keep doing this, Adrien. I could be putting you in danger. What if Hawkmoth finds out? You could be his next target and I don’t know what I would do if you got hurt.”

He placed his hand over hers, squeezing it gently and Ladybug blinked down at it in shock. A smile was clear in his voice as he spoke to her next, “But what if Hawkmoth never finds out? What if we can just keep it a secret from everyone?”

Ladybug scoffed lightly, shaking her head. “When has that ever worked, Adrien? I practically sneak into your bedroom every night. What happens if Nathalie or even worse your father barges in one day? Don’t you think it’d be a little odd if they saw you kissing the superhero of Paris?”

Adrien’s cheeks turned pink as he ducked his head down even as a small grin appeared on his lips. Realizing her own words, Ladybug flushed as well, wondering when and how she had gotten so brave with him? It was probably because of all the kissing they had been doing lately. It was sort of hard to stutter and stammer when she knew his lips almost as well as her own.

“Okay,” he finally nodded his head, seemingly making up his own mind. “What if we didn’t stay here, then? What if you come pick me up and then take me somewhere else?”

Adrien gestured out his window and she blinked a pair of startled blue eyes at him. God, was she tempted to take him up on his offer. Thoughts and images swirled around her head with the idea. Fantasies of yanking Adrien away and spending hours up on the top of the Eiffel Tower just talking with him filled her mind. Of course, they would share a few kisses which would just make everything even more perfect.

With a small whimper, Ladybug shook her head firmly once again. Forcing herself to stand up, she clenched onto her yo-yo tightly. “We can’t, Adrien, I’m so sorry. What if someone catches us and rumors start spreading? It’s just too risky. I never should have started this. It’s my fault.”

“Hey,” Adrien spoke decisively, pushing himself up as well as he held onto her hands once again. He forced her gaze back up to him as he said, “This is just as much my fault. We started this together, LB, and we both knew what we were doing. I wanted this just as much as you did.”

Ladybug gaped over at him, her eyes softer than they had ever been before. He was so perfect. How did he know just what to say to make her feel better? Smiling gently, she couldn’t stop herself from whispering, “Find me.”

“W-what?” Adrien blinked at her in confusion, his head tilting to one side adorably.

“Find me,” she said again, more determinedly this time. “If you can find me as a civilian... without all the danger and worries... then we can be together. For real.”

She must be going crazy. For one, there was no way Adrien would ever be able to figure out who she was. And, also, she never should have asked him to do this. It could be just as dangerous.

She was about to open her mouth to backtrack when Adrien cut her off, “B-but what if I find someone who isn’t you?”

Ladybug relaxed slightly even as her heart twisted at the idea of Adrien falling in love with anyone but her. Still, if it was left up to him and he did find someone else, perhaps she should just let them stay together. It would be easier than convincing herself to stay away from him completely. Slowly nodding her head, she squeezed his hand back this time. “That’s up to you, Adrien. I won’t tell you if you get it wrong or right. That could just put us in even more danger.”

“Can you at least give me a hint?” He searched her eyes rather desperately.

Humming lightly, she removed one of her hands to tap her chin thoughtfully. Deciding on something that wouldn’t give her away too badly, she eventually murmured, “I’m closer than you think.”

Quickly, Ladybug brushed one last kiss against his cheek before bolting away, yo-yo spinning in her hand. Her flaming cheeks were cooled by the night wind as she weighed whether or not she wanted Adrien to figure out who she was or not. She let herself swing back home, deciding that it was time to let fate take the wheel.

Chapter Text

“Do you remember that time your bodyguard got akumatized into Gorizilla?” Ladybug asked, turning her head over to blink at Adrien rather curiously. They were both sitting together on his couch, enjoying the new anime that they were currently binging. She had started coming over regularly a short while ago. He had invited her in after she had smacked face-first into his window. One thing led to another and soon they were having nightly meetings.

Of course, he didn’t know the butterflies that fluttered to life in her stomach every time Adrien so much as decided to talk to her. She considered herself so lucky to spend even these short, small moments with him. Even if Tikki usually did berate her about using her powers afterwards...

“Yeah, I do remember that,” Adrien bobbed his head up and down, pausing the episode they were currently on to meet her gaze. “Why do you ask?”

Ladybug felt her cheeks turn a light shade of pink as she looked into his green eyes. She could get lost in him. Trying to snap out of the haze he had sent her into, she chuckled nervously. “J-just wondering.”

“Uh-huh?” He laughed back, raising an eyebrow at her curiously.

Her blush grew a shade darker and she turned her head away to avoid his sparkling, knowing gaze. Staring at the TV, she brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face. Softly, she murmured, “I guess I was just wondering... um, how you trusted me so easily?”

“Oh,” Adrien said quietly and she saw his head turn away from hers out of the corner of her eye.

His foot tapped against the floor almost anxiously and Ladybug worried at her lower lip. Had she said something wrong? Maybe she should clear the air and get them back to watching their anime. That was safer, right?

Waving her hands in the air, she tried to smile even as it probably came across as a grimace. “N-never mind, it was a silly question anyway! Why wouldn’t you jump off of the top of a building when a superhero asks you to? I mean, I was the one calling the shots, after all, right?”

Adrien blinked over at her in shock after she had finished her short speech. Ladybug’s cheeks flamed once again as his mouth flapped open and closed a few times. Her palms itched to slap her forehead as she realized that she had screwed up again. What was up with her and sticking her foot in her mouth whenever she was around Adrien?

About to open her mouth and probably spit out another odd speech, he scooted closer to her, squeezing one of her hands in his. He shot her an easy, crooked smile as he chuckled lightly. “No, it’s alright, Ladybug. I was pretty crazy to do that.”

Her gaze remained fixed on his hands which were still entangled in hers. Adrien quickly ripped them out of her grip after he realized what she was staring at, though, murmuring an apology. Feeling the loss of his warmth instantly, Ladybug quickly clenched her fists, fighting the urge to take his hands back. Shaking her head, she gave him her own small grin. “No, you were fine. I was the crazy one for asking you to do it, actually. I guess I had just trusted that Chat Noir would be there.”

“Yeah,” Adrien muttered, scratching the back of his neck as he avoided her gaze again. Before she could think too much into that reaction, however, he spoke up again. “I think that the main reason that I jumped, though, Ladybug was because I really do trust you. You’ve saved Paris countless times. I just knew that you would also be able to save me.”

The ear-splitting beam that he sent made her feel weak at the knees. Grateful that she was sitting instead of standing, Ladybug blushed for what felt like the fiftieth time that day. “I-I’m glad that you trust me so much, Adrien,” she stuttered slightly.

Adrien trusted her! Like really trusted her! What had she done to get so lucky?! Dare she say it but it almost seemed like her crush had just as much faith in her as Chat Noir.

“Always, Ladybug.”

The words fell so easily from his lips. It almost seemed as natural as breathing for him. Her heart beat faster as she looked over at the boy who was her entire world. This time, Ladybug reached over to squeeze Adrien’s hand, murmuring quietly, “I trust you too, you know.”

He gaped at her in shock for a few minutes before his lips seemed to twitch in amusement. His green eyes shone knowingly as he asked, “As much as Chat Noir?”

She threw her head back as she giggled happily. When she had regained her breath, she nudged his shoulder with a mischievous twinkle in her gaze. “I think we need to have a few more anime nights before that happens.”

Adrien flushed with joy and Ladybug watched in shock as his blush spread across his cheeks. Rarely did she see him blush. Even rarer was she the cause of said blush. Cheering proudly and silently to herself, she did a little happy dance in her mind.

He laughed loudly again before jerking his head at the television screen. “Suppose we had better get started again, then?” he asked, a bright smile still fixed on his face.

“Oh, of course,” Ladybug nodded her head seriously. “This is vital in gaining a superhero’s trust after all.”

He snorted, pressing play as he started the show once again. “I need it to be if I’m to reach Chat Noir status.”

Feeling courageous, she buried her head in his shoulder as she couldn’t stop herself from giggling once again. She missed Adrien’s look of awe as he stared down at her. Both of the teens ignored the show for the moment, too absorbed in the other to pay it any mind. Eventually, Ladybug managed to tear herself away from him, attempting to keep her gaze focused on the show.

If she had scooted a little closer to him after their short conversation, well it was too minuscule to detect. And if Adrien had thrown an arm around her shoulder as they continued to watch, well she didn’t need to say anything about that either, especially as pleasant tingles raced down her arms. Before long the two were completely pressed against each other, neither saying a word as they prayed the other one hadn’t noticed.

Just a little longer, Ladybug thought to herself, flicking her gaze up to Adrien quickly. A little longer in his arms and she would be able to find the strength to leave. Swearing to herself, she let herself snuggle just a little more into his side, hoping he wouldn’t notice once again.

Chapter Text

“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Ladybug muttered, pulling her baseball cap lower on her head. She fidgeted with the sleeves of her jacket uncomfortably, feeling like everyone was staring at her. Nervously, she felt her face for the corners of her mask, exhaling in relief when she realized it was still there. Glaring down at the carpet under her feet, she grumbled again, “This is ridiculous, Adrien.”

“It’s fine!” he laughed, turning around to grin at her. His hand squeezed hers as he led her down the movie theatre hallway. “Trust me! I’ve done this with a friend before.”

Ladybug blinked in shock as his gaze grew distant like he was lost in memories. Her cheeks flushed a light pink as she realized what he was thinking about. He must be remembering that time they had gone to the movies together. Of course, Adrien didn’t realize he was still talking about her because he was thinking about the time he went to the movies with Marinette.

Twisting her lips to the side, she looked down at the outfit she was wearing. Was this better or worse than the time she had worn the pajamas? It was definitely more uncomfortable wearing two different sets of clothes but it was also less embarrassing. Plus, they hadn’t been able to see the entire movie. Adrien had gotten stolen away by his bodyguard and she spent most of the day worrying about where Chat Noir had gone. Exhaling again, she couldn’t stop herself from muttering, “Yeah, because that had gone so well.”

“What did you say?” Adrien turned around to look at her curiously again, his head tilting to the side adorably.

“Nothing, nothing,” Ladybug waved him off, gesturing for him to continue going forward. “Let’s just keep going before someone recognizes that I’m Ladybug.”

He gave her another light grin, twisting the baseball cap on his own head. “Don’t worry. No one’s going to recognize you just like no one’s going to recognize me. We’re safe.”

“If you say so,” she murmured again, shying away from the people next to her.

Fidgeting with her sleeves again, she sighed in relief when they slid into the dark, quiet theatre. There were only a few people in the room and together they slid into a couple of seats far away from everyone. Feeling like prying eyes were finally away from her, Ladybug took off her baseball cap, using it to fan her flushed face.

“See, I told you we’d make it in here undiscovered,” Adrien leaned closer to whisper in her ear.

Her eyes widened considerably as his breath brushed lightly against her face, feeling goosebumps race up her arm. She was suddenly aware of just how close he was. All she could smell was his cologne and all she could feel was Adrien. Unthinkingly, Ladybug moved her head slightly to meet his gaze, her heart stuttering in shock as their noses almost bumped against each other. The hand holding her baseball cap froze as she just stared at him in silence for a few moments.

Adrien stared back at her, looking just as frozen until he shook his head forcefully. He practically threw himself back into his seat, his cheeks pink with embarrassment as he murmured, “Sorry.”

A blush lit up her own face as she dragged her head back to the movie screen. Feeling cold without his warm presence so close to her, Ladybug tugged her jacket closer to her, putting the baseball cap back on her head. Feeling tense and awkward she forced herself to pay attention to the previews. Every so often, she would look at Adrien out of the corner of her eyes, meeting his gaze every now and again as he also looked back at her. How on earth was she meant to pay attention to the movie when Adrien was right next to her?! Every time their eyes connected she was struck with the sudden urge to pull him into a kiss.

Clenching her fists on the armrests so that she didn’t do that, Ladybug also closed her eyes. They popped back open again, though, when a warm hand began to pat it gently. “Don’t worry,” Adrien murmured, giving her a crooked grin. “No one’s going to notice us. It’s too dark.”

“Right, right,” she chuckled nervously, grateful that’s what he thought she was so nervous about. Assuming that he would pull his hand away, she frowned slightly when it stayed over hers. Shifting slightly in her seat, Ladybug tried to relax even as her heart thumped loudly when he squeezed her hand. Was she really meant to sit through an entire movie holding Adrien’s hand? Just being with him was enough to give her butterflies, so this was perfect.

Feeling courageous, she flipped her hand over to intertwine their fingers. She then leaned back in her seat, trying to gauge his reaction, wondering if she had been too bold. Adrien’s cheeks looked slightly pinker but he kept his gaze firmly focused on the movie screen.

Sighing out quietly with relief, Ladybug’s lips twitched into a small smile. She really was the luckiest bug on the planet. Getting comfortable, her smile got larger as the movie started playing.

It was worth it, she thought, nodding to herself. Even if she had to get dressed up in a million different costumes, she’d do it a thousand times over if it meant she could spend even a few minutes with Adrien. Being with him erased all of her worries and fears, making her feel like she was safe and free from Hawkmoth. Sneaking another quick peek over at him, Ladybug gave him another soft grin, thanking him silently for dragging her out to the movies. It was no wonder she loved him. He was the sweetest, kindest boy on the entire planet.

Feeling completely relaxed and content, she brought her attention back towards the movie. Losing herself in the action and adventure, any last nerves and anxiety she felt disappeared as she watched the characters on the screen excitedly. Best movie date ever, Ladybug grinned to herself.

Chapter Text

Ladybug sighed dreamily, staring up at the billboard in front of her. Her hands cupped her chin as a dazed smile lit up her face. She was staring directly up at a giant photo of Adrien. Gabriel had released a new collection of clothing and her crush was modeling in it. The latest advertisements featured Adrien in a suit, looking so professional and handsome that she was almost entirely distracted from the clothes.

With another quiet sigh, Ladybug dragged her eyes away from his brilliantly gleaming emerald green eyes down to the suit he was currently wearing. It fit him well and she carefully examined it, mentally taking notes for her next designs. Nibbling on her lip, she also thought about what she could change to make it look even better.

She was thrust out of her thoughts, however, when someone tapped on her shoulder. With a loud screech, she whirled around, meeting a pair of startled green eyes. Freezing in shock, her mouth fell open as she realized she was staring directly at Adrien.

“Sorry,” he gave her a crooked smile, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“No, no!” Ladybug quickly tried to reassure him, waving a hand in the air. “That was my fault! I just hadn’t realized that you were there! I was a little distracted.”

Her gaze slowly and rather guiltily slid over to the billboard once again. Did Adrien know that she had been staring at him? His gaze followed hers and she tensed up again, feeling her cheeks turn a light shade of pink as she realized that she had gotten caught. Instinctively, her hand reached for her yo-yo, ready to whip out of there faster than he could blink.

“Was that what you were distracted by?” Adrien’s smile got wider and looked more mischievous. He gestured at his latest advertisement and Ladybug’s face turned an even darker red.

Her palms itched to scrub at her face, wishing that she really could leave. With a nervous chuckle, she glanced away from his teasing expression to murmur, “Y-yeah, actually.”

“Really?!” Adrien asked almost in shock. Ladybug flicked her eyes back to him, noting that he really did seem surprised that he had guessed correctly.

He opened his mouth to say something and she tensed again, certain that he was about to berate or scold her. In a rush, she blurted out, “Yeah! I love Gabriel so I’m always excited whenever a new collection comes out! And I thought that this one was fantastic! You did a great job.”

He seemed to deflate a little bit and Ladybug once again wondered if she had said something wrong. His smile weakened and she practically gnawed at her lower lip, replaying what she had just said in her mind, hoping to find the issue. Shifting on her feet uncomfortably when she couldn’t figure it out, she gave him a grateful look when Adrien spoke up again, “Thanks, Ladybug. I’m glad to know that a literal superhero is a fan of my work! That’s amazing!”

His grin had brightened once again and Ladybug couldn’t stop her own smile from spreading across her face in response. “Of course, Adrien. You’re very talented and you always make the clothes you wear look phenomenal!”

Instead of answering, he simply gave her a shy smile, running a hand through his hair as he looked down at her. Another few moments of silence passed where she and Adrien both continued to stare into each other’s eyes. Eventually, his lips twitched in amusement and he said, “You know, you really remind me of a friend of mine. She likes fashion and she’s a big fan of Gabriel, too. I think you two would really get along, actually.”

“O-oh, really?” Ladybug stuttered, almost choking on air when she realized that he must also be talking about her. Feeling slightly panicked that he might accidentally stumble onto the right conclusion, she stiffly pulled out her yo-yo. “W-well, it was really great talking with you, Adrien but I should probably get home before we draw too much attention to us.”

Gesturing over to a pair of curious people that had stopped to look at them, she watched as his eyes lit up with realization. He quickly turned back to her, giving her a sheepish smile. “Right as always, Ladybug! Thanks for taking the time to talk with me, though.”

“Of course,” she smiled softly back at him, feeling rather giddy that she had managed to have a rather long conversation with Adrien without completely making a fool of herself. “I’m glad that I saw you.”

She blinked in shock as his cheeks seemed to turn pink. He bit his lip before nodding, stuttering slightly, “Y-yeah, you too.”

With one last, final giggle and wave to him, Ladybug twirled her yo-yo in one hand before pulling herself out of the street corner they were on. She couldn’t wait to squeal all about this conversation to Tikki later on.

Chapter Text

Adrien gaped at his computer. He rubbed his eyes a few times in shock as he continued to stare at the website in front of him, almost as though he expected the words to change. They didn’t though. They remained the same, taunting him with their true meaning. Choking slightly, he reread them for the twentieth time. The words he was so stumped by were from the latest interview with Ladybug on the Ladyblog. There in bright, bold text was the question he had been dying to know the answer to for years.

Alya: Who is your celebrity crush?

How could she ask her that question so simply? As though the answer hadn’t evaded him every time he asked her. Brushed off with a reminder that of course, she couldn’t tell him. They weren’t allowed to reveal anything about their identities, and didn’t he already know that by now, Chaton.

Perhaps Ladybug had answered because Alya had phrased it as her celebrity crush. Adrien had always been more concerned with figuring out the identity of her current crush. The boy who had stolen her heart so easily when he had spent so long trying to win her affections. Still, he had never expected either answer to be about him. Once again, he read her answer, raking his hand through his hair as his mind raced with more questions.

Ladybug: Well, um... I’m pretty obsessed with fashion. One of the brands I actually look up to, like most Parisians, is Gabriel. So, uh, I guess you could say I might look up to Adrien Agreste a lot.

That was it. That was all he got before Alya finished up the rest of her questions and wrapped up the interview. She looked up to him a lot! What did that mean?! Groaning, Adrien thumped his head down onto his desk, wondering if he was lucky or unlucky that she said his name. On the one hand, she looked up to him! On the other, he was still unsure of just what exactly that meant. Did she like him or not?!

“Why the long face, kid?” His kwami hovered above him, looking down at him with a pair of curious green eyes.

Adrien simply muttered quietly into his desk, his words inaudible to even himself. He wasn’t even certain what he was supposed to say. That Ladybug had said that he was her celebrity crush? That was meant to be a good thing. Instead, he was left with more questions than answers.

Plagg simply chuckled and he lifted his head back up to glare at his kwami. As he looked up at him, Adrien noticed that his eyes were entirely focused on the computer screen, reading the interview. After Plagg had finished, he gestured at the words with confusion, lazily floating away as he said, “I don’t understand why you’re so grumpy about this. Ladybug just said that she likes you. Shouldn’t you be over the moon with joy? I figured you’d be foaming at the mouth once you realized it.”

“What?” Adrien frowned, wondering what Plagg meant by realized before he shook his head to calm his racing thoughts. “Never mind. I’m not foaming at the mouth because I’m not certain that’s what Ladybug said. It says that she looked up to me, not that she has a crush on me.”

“Same difference,” Plagg shot him a weird look before shrugging his shoulders. “She still said your name when Alya asked her who her celebrity crush was, didn’t she? What else could Ladybug mean by that?”

Feeling the beginnings of a smile bloom on his face, he turned back to the computer screen. He reread the words, feeling his heart thump in his chest. Quietly, he murmured, “Y-you think?”

His kwami gagged, rolling his eyes as he crossed his arms. “Why do you humans have to be so cheesy? And not the good kind of cheese.”

Adrien laughed, shaking his head as he looked over at Plagg with amusement. Feeling giddy, he tossed a piece of camembert at him, watching his kwami’s eyes light up as he gobbled down the food. Sighing in amusement, he turned back to the screen, rereading Ladybug’s answer again. This time, though, his heart thumped loudly as he kept his gaze directly on his name.

Ladybug looked up to him. Ladybug thought about him first when she was asked about her celebrity crush. That had to count for something. Maybe... maybe he did still have a shot with her. He may not have been able to woo her as Chat Noir, but perhaps Adrien would work better. Either way, he was determined to ask her about this interview whenever he next saw her. Adrien or Chat Noir... it didn’t matter. He simply had to know what she was thinking about when she answered this question.

With a breathless chuckle, he ran his hand through his hair again, turning to his kwami with another bright smile on his face. “I think you’re right, Plagg.”

“Right about what?” he asked, still focused on the cheese he was currently devouring.

Adrien rolled his eyes fondly, gesturing back at the screen. “Right about Ladybug. I mean, she must feel something for me if she said my name for her celebrity crush. I’m sure that this means something too and I’m planning on asking her about it whenever I see her tomorrow.”

“Great, kid,” Plagg waved a distracted hand in the air. “You do that.”

“And,” he added, wiggling his eyebrows at his kwami. “If everything works out, I’ll probably give you some cheese.”

Plagg snapped his head up, staring at him with wide eyes. “Huh?! Did you just say cheese?!”

Adrien simply laughed, shaking his head at his kwami before slipping into his bed. Shutting his eyes tight, he attempted to sleep even as a hoard of butterflies danced in his chest. How was he meant to sleep when he might know the truth tomorrow? Visions of Ladybug danced in his head as his giddiness grew and grew. Soon, he reminded himself. Soon he’d know the answer. And perhaps, if Ladybug really did have that celebrity crush on him... maybe they’d be able to see each other more. Rather quickly after that thought, Adrien fell asleep, dreams of holding his lady’s hand and kissing her flooding his mind.

Chapter Text

“No! Adrien!” Ladybug screeched, diving for the boy after he had been hit directly by an akuma blast. For some stupid reason, he had jumped in front of her, throwing himself in front of the blast that had been meant for her. She didn’t have much time to react, though, the akuma was already aiming her magic staff directly at her once again. Twirling her yo-yo, she quickly deflected the blast before scooping up Adrien’s crumpled figure in her arms and jumping out of the window.

Ladybug didn’t stop for anything. Not for the bright, green beams of light that whizzed past her or for the angry shouts from the akuma as she flung the two of them out of danger. Her attention was solely focused on Adrien, the only proof that he was alive from the slight movement of his chest as he breathed in and out. She gnawed on her lower lip as she looked down at him, praying that he would be fine.

Once she was safely away from the akuma, she carefully lowered Adrien down onto a rooftop. Staring down at him worriedly, Ladybug gently ran her hand down his cheek, murmuring, “Please, please be okay.”

Slowly, she moved her hand down to his chest, breathing out in relief when she felt that his heart was still beating. Waiting for his eyes to open, she glanced around their surroundings. She looked for any sign of Chat or the akuma as she debated waking Adrien up herself. After a few moments, Ladybug shifted nervously, deciding that she would need to risk the pain he would be facing now rather than leaving him on the rooftop to deal with it by himself when he woke up later. There were far too many risks in leaving him here by himself. He could get even more hurt than he already was.

Feeling guilty, Ladybug slowly shook his shoulder, clearing her throat before speaking loudly, “Adrien, I need you to wake up now. We need to go before the akuma or anyone else finds us.”

Adrien didn’t wake up though. All she got for her efforts was a loud snore. Frowning in both confusion and worry, she shook his shoulder more forcefully, her voice getting even louder. “Adrien! Are you alright!? We need to go!”

Nothing helped. He continued to lay there, oblivious to the world and her as he slept peacefully. Feeling panicked, Ladybug tore herself away from him, pacing on the rooftop as she tugged on her pigtails. What was she supposed to do now? If she left him alone, he could be in danger, and if he got even more hurt she wouldn’t be able to live with herself.

Scrubbing a hand down her face, she kneeled beside him again, wishing there was something she could do. Inhaling a deep breath and closing her eyes, she thrust aside her worries about Chat Noir, the akuma, and Adrien. She instead focused on what she could remember about the akuma's powers. The girl had held a staff that shot out green bolts of light that caused its victims to fall asleep.

Ladybug’s eyes popped open as she realized it all sounded very familiar. Of course, Sleeping Beauty had been put to sleep by a spindle on a spinning wheel but perhaps the akuma had changed the fairytale to suit her needs. Nibbling on her lower lip, she wondered if the rest of the fairytale would work here. Sleeping Beauty woke up because of true love’s kiss. Maybe... just maybe that would work here too. After all, she did truly love Adrien. Plus, she had managed to snap Chat Noir out of his spell when Dark Cupid had attacked. Sucking in a deep breath for courage, she mumbled, “Please don’t hate me for this.”

Leaning down quickly, Ladybug pressed their lips together, pouring as much of her love into the kiss as she possibly could. Adrien remained motionless under her and her heart practically fell in her chest. She must have gotten it wrong then. Pulling back slowly, her eyes popped open when a hand on the back of her head stopped her. Adrien’s lips moved under hers and she squeaked, throwing herself backward as she scrambled away from him. Her eyes practically bugged out of their sockets as she stuttered, “A-Adrien... a-are you alright now?”

His eyes were still closed but he slowly sat up, carefully running his thumb over his lips. Ladybug flushed a deep red, ready to begin stammering her way through an apology when Adrien’s eyes opened and he gave her a wide, beaming smile. “Thank you for saving me, Ladybug.”

“Y-you’re welcome,” she said before standing up on a pair of shaky legs. “I-I’m glad you’re alright. You had me worried for a while there.”

“Sorry for worrying you.” Adrien gave her a crooked smile but he didn’t look sorry. In fact, he almost looked like... well, Chat Noir.

Shifting uncomfortably when she made that comparison, Ladybug glanced away, crossing her arms against her chest when she coughed loudly. “Well, don’t ever jump in front of me like that again, Adrien! It was stupid and irresponsible! You could have gotten seriously hurt! Leave the superheroing to the actual superheroes!”

She turned her gaze back to his and breathed out quietly in relief when he actually looked sheepish this time. Adrien rubbed the back of his neck, glancing at her from underneath his lashes as he murmured, “Sorry again, Ladybug. I thought you were in danger and I just reacted on instinct. I really didn’t mean to make you worry.”

“It’s alright.” She gave him a soft smile, feeling butterflies in her stomach as she realized that Adrien cared about her safety. Clapping her hands together, Ladybug took a few steps closer to him, nodding down at the ground. “Will you be alright if I drop you down there? I’ve been away from the akuma attack for a while and I don’t want Chat to get worried.”

He stiffened, almost as though he realized something before he nodded his head at her rapidly. “Yes, I’ll be fine, Ladybug! You should go and deal with the akuma before anything else bad happens.”

She nodded back at him before tugging him close to her, blushing once again as she remembered their shared kiss. Had Adrien really kissed her back before or was she going crazy? Ladybug shook her head once. No! She couldn’t afford to think about that! Later, when she was Marinette, she could afford the time to squeal and obsess over their moment but right now she had to be Ladybug. Tightening her fists, she decided that this would need to be a quick akuma attack.

Chapter Text

Adrien was currently facing a dilemma. One that centered around a pair of bright, blue-bell eyes. Well, more like two pairs of blue-bell eyes. That was the issue that he was currently facing. He had always assumed that it was only his lady that held those particularly beautiful, shining blue eyes. Now, though, he couldn’t keep his mind off of another pair of eyes whenever he looked at her.

For some odd reason, he kept seeing Marinette’s eyes in Ladybug’s. Adrien felt like he was going crazy. There was no reason for him to see one of his best friend’s eyes when he was staring at his lady. Even worse, he was currently sitting right next to her as they watched a show together. Adrien shot another glance at her out of the corner of his eyes, sneaking a peek at her eyes. Yep, he was still going crazy. Unable to stop himself, he heaved out another loud sigh, drumming his fingers on his lap.

Ladybug must have heard him, though, because a frown creased her brow. Quickly, she pulled the remote over to her, pausing the show as she glared over at him. He widened his eyes in shock, making a noise of confusion as he turned to meet her angry gaze.

“Why did you do that?” Adrien asked, gesturing at the television.

“Because that’s the fifth sigh you’ve had in the past two minutes,” she threw her arms up in exasperation. “Is something wrong Adrien? Are you alright?”

Ladybug’s blue eyes peered at him with such concern and worry that was just so familiar. He flinched back, pinching himself as he tried to stop the feeling that that was Marinette looking back at him.

She also leaned back in horror, her eyes widening as she placed a hand on her chest. “Oh my god, is it me?! Am I what’s bothering you?! Do you want me to go?”

Adrien winced as Ladybug scrambled up, banging her leg against his small table. She then began to stammer out apologies, “I’m so, so forry! I-I mean sorry! I-I know didn’t! I mean I didn’t know!”

He choked on air as he watched her stammer and stutter on her words. Once again, that brush of familiarity struck him. It was almost impossible for him to not see Marinette peering back at him in Ladybug’s mask. Shaking his head, Adrien stood up as well. There was no time to focus on that because Ladybug had gotten the worst idea stuck in her head. Quickly, he reached out, grasping her hand in his tightly. He gave it a soft squeeze before staring at her imploringly. “That’s not it at all, Ladybug. This isn’t your fault. If anything... it’s mine.”

Her brow creased with another frown but her other hand slowly dropped her yo-yo back to her hip. “What do you mean... your fault?”

A pink blush lit up his cheeks and Adrien sank down onto the couch with a groan, covering his face with his hands. He heard Ladybug sit down next to him and then felt her hand rub against his back gently. Slowly, he removed his hands and met her gaze once again. Quietly, he mumbled, “I keep seeing my best friend whenever I look at you.”

Her mouth fell open adorably before she gave him a small, shy smile. “Is that really so bad?”

“You don’t understand,” Adrien said sadly, shaking his head. “I’m seeing my best friend when I look at you.”

Ladybug blinked in confusion before her tinkling laugh filled the room. She raised an eyebrow at him before asking with amusement clear in her voice, “You think I look like Nino?”

“What? No!” he stared at her in shock before chuckling himself. “No, I don’t think you look like Nino. I think you look like my other best friend.”

She tilted her head at him curiously. “Who’s that?”

“Well, it’s your eyes,” Adrien started, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “They just really remind me of my classmate’s. T-they look a lot like, um, Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s...”

“What?!” Ladybug screeched, jumping to her feet as she banged her leg against his table once again. She winced, rubbing the tender spot before chuckling nervously. “I-I mean, uh... who?”

He slowly raised an eyebrow at her curiously. Crossing his arms across his chest, he asked skeptically, “You know Nino but you don’t know Marinette?”

“U-uh, Marinette, no. I-I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting her.” Her eyes darted from side to side as she shifted uncomfortably.

Well, now that was a blatant lie. He knew for certain that Ladybug and Marinette knew each other. Quite well, in fact, because she had given the girl a miraculous. And there was that time she assigned Chat Noir to watch over her. So... why would she lie? It made no sense. Unless...

No, Adrien thought, shoving aside the idea as quickly as it had come. He would never be that lucky. And, besides, he had already seen the two of them together when Marinette had been Multimouse. He still couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling, though. Slowly, he stood up, watching as Ladybug’s eyes followed his movements anxiously.
“Really? You know Nino but not Marinette?”

Once again, her eyes skittered away from him. “Yep!” Ladybug said with fake cheer. “S-she, um, sounds like a lovely lady, though. F-from the way that you talk about her I mean.”

Adrien sucked in a deep breath, wondering if this was going to be either the stupidest thing he had ever done... or the smartest. Clearing his throat, he asked, “So, Marinette isn’t Multimouse, then?”

Her head whipped back around to face him. Her eyes narrowed as she scanned him up and down. “How did you...?”

Ladybug’s words trailed off before she gasped, slapping a palm to her mouth as she stared at him in horror. Slowly, she removed her hand to murmur one, quiet, little word, “Kitty?”

“Hello, m’lady,” Adrien bowed with a bright grin on his face. When he leaned back up, he spoke with a smirk, “Or should I say Marinette?”

She choked on air lightly, her blue-bell eyes getting even larger as she gazed at him. Eventually, she muttered, “B-but... how did you know?”

“Just like I said,” Adrien chuckled, gesturing to her face as he gave her a mischievous look. “Your eyes gave you away.”

Ladybug squeaked and the next thing he knew, her lips were on his. His eyes widened in shock before they fluttered closed, holding her tightly to him as fought to keep this kiss in his memory. He was not about to forget this. It was too important.

After a few moments, she pulled away, murmuring with a pair of swollen lips, “Was that okay?”

“That was just perfect, m’lady.” Adrien beamed down at her before cupping her cheek, connecting their lips together once again. He had definitely been right before. That was the smartest thing he had ever done.

Chapter Text

“Do you remember that poem you wrote?” Ladybug asked, leaning towards him with her chin in her hand as she blinked at him with a pair of big, innocent sapphire eyes.

“W-what poem?” Adrien choked out, still wondering how he was even able to talk to her. This was Marinette. Who was also Ladybug. The love of his life. That fact made it almost even more impossible for him to function around her. He was the luckiest cat in the world.

They had revealed their identities a few months beforehand. Fortunately for him, they had both stumbled into the same alleyway to detransform and didn’t have time to stop before they became their civilian selves again. To say that it was a joy to have Marinette be Ladybug was an understatement. It was practically heaven to know that the girl sitting behind him every day was the love of his life. Of course, it only reaffirmed just how out of his league she was. Marinette was much too perfect for him.

That hadn’t stopped him from sneaking out of his house to meet up with her as Chat Noir, though. At least, until his father started to get suspicious somehow, keeping him under a tighter lock and key. Thus, Ladybug began to sneak into his room so that they could continue their late-night talks. It was still hard for him to fully believe it. Adrien was still determined to keep her as close to him as possible, however. If he would never be able to kiss her and hold her hand as he had always dreamed, he could at least be her best friend.

“Valentine’s Day a few years ago,” Ladybug giggled nervously, pulling at a loose thread on his couch. “You wrote a poem about a girl whose hair was dark as night and who had pretty bluebell eyes.”

Adrien tensed up, his eyes widening in horror. She had read that?! He had thought he had thrown that stupid poem away after he couldn’t quite get the words out. Clearing his throat, he winced as he voiced his concerns, “You read that? I thought I threw that stupid poem away.”

She stopped pulling on the loose thread, whipping her head up as she blinked at him in surprise. Ladybug laughed awkwardly, waving her hand in the air as she began to stutter and stammer. “Y-you did... really? Huh, I-I wonder how I did find that poem then. M-maybe I had accidentally read it over your shoulder in class or something. Pfft, who knows. J-just forget I asked, okay?”

As she turned as red as her mask, Adrien smiled at her fondly, watching as her eyes darted from side to side. How had he missed it earlier? It was so obvious who Ladybug was. She and Marinette both shared so many similar qualities. With a small chuckle, he nodded his head. “Yes, I do remember writing that poem.”

She squeaked but lifted her head back up to meet his gaze again. Clearing her throat, she tapped her fingers together nervously, “A-and do you remember who you wrote it about?”

“You mean you don’t know?” Adrien frowned. “I figured it was pretty obvious that it was about you , Ladybug. Especially now that you well... know who I am.”

He gestured to her as his cheeks turned a light pink. Scolding himself, he wondered why he was even telling her any of this. It wasn’t like it would change anything. Ladybug’s eyes grew wider as she pointed at herself. “R-really?” she asked. Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, he nodded his head.

“Wow,” she murmured, leaning back on the couch as she blinked up at the ceiling. “I guess the response poem that I wrote back wasn’t for nothing then.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Adrien’s frown got deeper. “Response poem? What response poem?”

Ladybug turned an even darker red, ducking her head back down as she giggled shyly. “Yeah, I-I kind of wrote a response to that poem a while back. I don’t think you ever got it, though, because I forgot to sign it.”

Worrying his lower lip, he scanned his memory, trying to remember if he ever got a poem back. It was then that he remembered the time Plagg had brought out all of his Valentine’s Day cards. Adrien's eyes widened as he blinked in surprise. He distinctly remembered comparing the handwriting to Marinette’s and then brushing it off. Smacking a hand to his forehead, he groaned to himself. He had been so close.

“That was you?” he whispered, “Really?”

“Mhm.” She hummed, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

Adrien leaned closer to her, scanning her eyes for something. Ladybug simply stared back at him, her lips slightly parted in shock. Running a hand through his hair, he asked, “But why? Why did you write a response poem?”

Ladybug flushed, rubbing her arm as she gave him a small, almost nervous smile. “W-well, I-I may have, sort of, kind of, had a bit of a crazy crush on you back then. D-don’t worry though! I know you don’t feel that way about me anymore! I don’t even know why I brought this up. We should just forget about it.”

She turned forward stiffly, staring resolutely at the TV which was still playing a show that he had forgotten about a long time ago. Ladybug in love with him? The idea was too laughable to even consider a reality.

Carefully, Adrien reached out, placing a hand on her arm. Ladybug stared down at it before meeting his gaze again cautiously. He shook his head slowly, staring at her desperately. “I don’t understand... Ladybug, I’ve been in love with you for years. Why would you think that’s changed? It’s you who's always said you’ve been in love with someone else.”

She chuckled but it was more of a scoff. “That’s because I’ve been in love with you, Adrien. I thought it was obvious.”

“Not to me,” he moved his head from side to side, feeling like his entire world was crashing down around him. How had he missed this? “Never to me.”

“But your feelings have changed, though, right?” Ladybug asked, her blue eyes searching his gaze.

“No,” Adrien breathlessly responded. Unable to help himself, his eyes darted down to look at her lips after she licked them. “A-and you? Did your feelings change?”

Instead of responding, she simply shook her head. Feeling bold after that declaration, he swooped forward, capturing her lips in a sweet kiss. Tilting his head, he deepened their kiss, determined to make certain they both remembered it this time. After this, he was never letting Ladybug go again. They needed to make up for the lost time they had spent dancing around each other. Smiling into their kiss, Adrien tangled his fingers in her hair, wondering just how long they could have been doing this if they weren’t such idiots.

Chapter Text

“I got you this,” Adrien says, a bright smile on his face after Ladybug swooped into his bedroom.

She blinks down at him in shock, her blue eyes widening as she looks at the red rose in his hands. Her cheeks turn as dark as the flower as she blushes. Adrien had gotten her a rose. How lucky was she?! The only issue was whether or not he meant it in the way she hoped... wished he meant it. But would Adrien ever give her a rose because he had feelings for her? It seemed too crazy to be true.

Clearing her throat, Ladybug giggled, accepting the rose as she peered at him through her lashes. “T-thank you, Adrien. But, you didn’t have to do this for me.”

“I know,” he chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck as his beam gets even wider. “But I wanted to. It suits you. A lady as pretty as you deserves all the flowers in the world.”

It took all of her effort not to start squealing like a banshee. Adrien thought she was pretty. Was she dreaming?! Inconspicuously, Ladybug pinched her arm, certain that she was about to wake up in her bedroom. Instead, she felt the stinging pain of the pinch and remained in Adrien’s room. He continued to grin up at her merrily and her heart thumped loudly at the sight.

So she wasn’t dreaming, then. Giggling shyly, she brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “W-well, thank you, Adrien. That’s very sweet of you to say,” Ladybug then took the rose from his hands, smelling the sweet aroma of the flower. “It’s a very lovely rose. I just wish I had brought you one as well. I can bring one the next time I come over, though, if that’s alright?”

She looked at him eagerly, hoping that didn’t seem too forward. She needed to be able to repay him somehow, though. Adrien did so much for her, the least she could do was bring him a rose in return.

He seemed to freeze in shock at her request, his eyes scanning hers for something before he gave her a slow, timid grin. Shuffling on his feet, he murmured, “O-only if you’d like too, Ladybug. I-I don’t mind if you don’t. It’s enough just to see you every once in a while.”

Adrien’s emerald green eyes sparkled at her and she couldn’t stop herself from staring at him adoringly. He was one of the sweetest boys she knew. It was no wonder she fell in love with him. Ladybug then gestured over to his couch, bringing the flower up to her nose again as she enjoyed its sweet aroma. “Did you want to start our movie marathon now?”

“Oh, right, of course!” He perked up, quickly running over as he set their television screen up so that they could start one of their mini-marathons.

Ladybug giggled before taking her seat on the couch, twirling the rose in her hands as she looked down at it softly. Feeling determined, she decided that the next time she saw him, she was definitely going to bring him a rose as well. He deserved it, especially for how amazing he was every day. Of course, though Adrien’s rose was only a display of how happy he was whenever she came over to see him, hers would mean more. It would be a small token of her love for him. The love she’d probably never be able to officially tell him about.

As Adrien sat down next to her, Ladybug glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, wishing she could be open with her feelings. One day, she promised herself. One day she would just have to tell him how much he meant to her. For now, though, she would content herself with giving him a single, red rose.

Chapter Text

“No,” Marinette spoke breathily, a shaky hand coming up to cover her mouth as she stared down at the akuma alert on her phone. She knew exactly who it was from just one glance. It was Adrien. She would need to fight the love of her life.

Sucking in a deep breath, she shot a quick glance over at Tikki who was hovering over her shoulder nervously. Her kwami nibbled on her lip, looking anxious as she spoke up, “Are you going to be alright, Marinette?”

“I have to be,” she mumbled, steeling herself even more as she buried away any lingering feelings. “I need to save Adrien... even if I have to fight him to do it.”

Tikki nodded her head solemnly before Marinette called on her transformation, sucking the kwami into her earrings as she became Ladybug. She had hoped that this day would never come and she was still unsure about just how she was going to fight the boy who meant everything to her. Jumping up onto her balcony, she decided that she was going to need to lean on Chat for moral support during a lot of this fight. With a twirl of her yo-yo, Ladybug was off, heading to the spot Adrien had last been seen. She prayed that Chat Noir had arrived before her, not ready to fight him alone yet.

When she found him, however, her partner was nowhere in sight. Hoping that he would show up later, Ladybug immediately rushed into battle, already knowing that Adrien had the power to lock people up in cages from the akuma alert on her phone. She quickly blocked his attack from hitting an unassuming civilian, giving the young girl enough time to bolt away. Ladybug then looked at Adrien softly even as his emerald green eyes glared back at her with so much hatred.

“Nice to see you could join the party, little bug,” he spat out. “Now, where’s your partner-in-crime? Is the kitty in the kennel already?”

“Adrien,” she started out cautiously, taking a step closer to him. “You don’t want to do this. Hawkmoth is controlling you. This isn’t you.”

If anything, Adrien’s gaze got even more fierce and fiery with her words. His fists tightened and Ladybug got a glimpse of red string poking out from his grasp. That must be where the akuma is hiding, she realized quickly before snapping her eyes back up to his as he started speaking.

“And how would you know anything about that, little bug?” Adrien stalked closer to her, causing her to take a few steps back. “Hawkmoth has been controlling me his whole life. So how would you know if this is or isn’t me? Oh, and it’s not Adrien... not anymore... it’s Isolation!”

With a flick of his hand, he shot a wave of green beams towards her. Ladybug quickly dodged out of the way, missing the magic by an inch as she was still focusing on his words. Hawkmoth had been controlling him his whole life? What could that mean?! Scanning the skies hoping for a sign of Chat Noir, she sighed when there wasn’t one. Where was her partner? Could he have been put into a cage already?

Holding her hands up, Ladybug pleaded with him. “Adrien... please, you can fight this. You’re better than this. You’re one of the sweetest, kindest people I know.”

Adrien seemed to pause for a second, his gaze clearing up as he blinked at her. For a brief moment, she thought that it had worked. However, in the next second her hopes came crashing down as a purple mask appeared over his eyes. He shook his head and his hateful gaze came back. “No, you have no idea what I’m like! You don’t know me at all!”

“But I do,” Ladybug spoke softly. “Adrien, I know you better than anyone. And I know you wouldn’t do this unless something really bad happened. But it’s okay. You can trust me. Whatever it is, we can fix this together.”

“No you can’t!” he shouted, flinging another burst of magic at her that she avoided with a flick of her yo-yo. “It’s over, Ladybug! It’s all over, why can’t you understand that? So just give me your miraculous!”

She stumbled back as Adrien released a fresh onslaught of attacks on her. He sent wave after wave of the green beams of light that she was only barely managing to deflect. Ladybug wished that Chat Noir would show up for the millionth time that day, as she didn't have enough time to call on her Lucky Charm. Her partner never arrived and her hopes turned futile.

Adrien crept closer and closer to her and she knew that soon he would completely overpower her. Slipping, Ladybug crashed down onto the cold cement below, wincing as her breath got knocked out of her. Staring up at Adrien desperately, she watched as he leaned over her, forming another beam of power as he smiled down at her. “Any last words, little bug?”

It was now or never, she thought, gulping with fear as he loomed ever closer. Shutting her eyes tightly, she rushed out, “You can’t do this, Adrien. B-because... because I love you!”

Waiting for the last blow to come, Ladybug clenched her eyes closed even more, bracing herself. It never came, though. After a little while, she slowly peeked one eye open, peering up at him. Adrien had frozen in shock and even the purple mask over his eyes wasn’t enough to snap him back into his trance. The energy forming in his hand slowly disappeared as his fist loosened.

“What?” he whispered above her, searching her eyes for something.

Instead of answering his question, Ladybug struck quick as a flash. She yanked his hand open, grabbing the object he was holding and snapping it in two. Sighing in relief as the purple butterfly flew out of the lucky charm, she watched as Adrien became himself once again. She stood up, capturing the akuma before calling on a Lucky Charm and instantly sending it up into the sky, repairing any damages Adrien might have caused. She then quickly rushed over to the boy after he had collapsed on the road.

Ladybug patted his cheek lightly, worrying her lower lip as she shook him. “Adrien! Are you alright?”

“Mmm,” he groaned, his eyes peering open as he looked up at her in confusion. “Ladybug? What happened?”

“You got akumatized.” She gave him a small smile.

After she said that, Adrien sat bolt upright as his mouth fell open in shock. “I-I did?! Are you okay?! What did I do?!”

“I’m fine, Adrien. Don’t worry,” Ladybug reached down, squeezing his hand. Thankfully, he didn’t remember her confession. Taking a deep breath, she then proceeded with her question, “But... I need to ask, is everything alright?”

His gaze became depressingly sad as he slowly shook his head at her. Quietly, he whispered, “No. L-Ladybug... I-I know who Hawkmoth is.”

She froze, feeling her entire body tense up as she gazed down at him. That wasn’t supposed to happen to him. Not to Adrien. She was supposed to have figured that out with Chat or Alya after hours of research. Plus, thanks to his words from earlier she had a sneaking suspicion she knew who it was.

Hesitantly, Ladybug murmured, “W-who?”

“It’s my father,” Adrien responded, his gaze resolutely fixed on the road as he twirled the ring on his hand. “Hawkmoth is my father.”

She sucked in a breath through gritted teeth as she realized her suspicions were correct. He brought his head back up, meeting her gaze with his as he looked at her so sadly. Quickly, she crouched down beside him, holding Adrien in her arms as he buried his face in her arms. Ladybug ran her fingers through his hair as she wished that she could fix everything. Holding him to her desperately, she thought about how she could fix anything. “It’ll be alright, Adrien... I-I promise. Chat and I... we’ll fix this.”

He tightened his grip on her arm at those words, burying himself even deeper into her embrace. Sniffling quietly, she already decided that she and Chat would need to patrol later this evening. They had to fix this as soon as possible... or at least try. She couldn’t stand to see Adrien hurt like this. Whatever she could do... she would do. No matter what.

Notes:

Thanks for readinggg!! I'm sooo not ready for Adrien to actually find out that Hawkmoth is his father. I feel like that's going to kill him D:. Anywho, comments and/or kudos are my fave if you'd like to leave me one :)

Chapter Text

“You ready to begin, Ladybug?” Adrien asked, bouncing on his feet lightly as he twirled the saber in his hands. He watched her happily, wondering how he had gotten lucky enough to practice fencing with the superheroine.

Ladybug had approached him shyly a few days ago, asking if he could give her a few tips in case they ever had to deal with another fencing akuma. He had agreed enthusiastically, thrilled at the idea of spending even more time with her. Patrols and fencing classes with the most amazing person ever. It was crazy how lucky he had gotten lately.

Ladybug giggled before getting into position, her blue eyes sparkling at him under her mask. He approached her first, connecting their swords together as they fought together. Adrien pointed out tips and tricks, guiding her stance along the way as they playfully competed against the other.

“You’re doing very well, Ladybug. You have very good reflexes. Have you considered fencing full time?” Adrien asked after they took a small break.

She nibbled on her lower lip, glancing at him bashfully. “Kind of. I briefly considered it, but someone was a lot better than me and I knew she’d get the spot. I’m glad you think I have good reflexes, though! It’s probably the superheroine in me.”

He chuckled before picking up his sword once again, getting back into position. Raising an eyebrow, he nodded his head at her. “Are you ready to begin again?”

“Always!” Ladybug immediately jumped up, brandishing her own sword.

This time, she made the first strike as they began their fencing duel again. It was fun battling with her like this. It reminded Adrien of the few times they practiced sparring together as Ladybug and Chat Noir. Except this time he got to teach her. She learned quickly, eagerly listening to his lessons as their sabers clashed against the other. It didn’t come as a surprise to him when she got the point, her saber directly on his chest.

“Did I just win the point?” Ladybug asked, her lips parted with surprise.

Adrien beamed at her, feeling proud that his lessons had paid off. “You did! See, I told you that you had great reflexes!”

“I did it!” She laughed giddily before throwing her arms around him in a tight hug.  He blinked in shock before holding her back just as tightly. Ladybug hugs were the best. Sighing quietly, he tried not to feel too bereft and cold when she slowly let him go. “Thank you so much, Adrien. You’re an excellent teacher.”

“And you’re an excellent student, Ladybug. Are you sure you don’t want to teach this class instead of me?” Adrien asked a playful smirk on his lips.

She turned a light pink, peering up at him shyly as she murmured, “I’m not that good.”

“On the contrary, I’d say that you definitely are. You’re certainly ready enough to take on any other fencing akumas who show up.” With a light laugh, Adrien mimed fencing. He tried to brush off the light feeling of disappointment that their lessons had to end so soon. This was about her. Not him. Even if he wanted to spend every moment of his life with her, he had to remind himself that Ladybug probably wouldn’t like that.

“Oh,” she mumbled, staring at the floor as she nibbled on her lip.

He frowned as he watched her. Shouldn’t she feel happy about that? Why did she look so sad? Clearing his throat, he nudged her shoulder playfully, “Aren’t you happy? You and Chat Noir should be ready for any of those pesky akumas. Just like you wanted.”

“Right, right,” Ladybug shook her head before giving him a small, almost weak smile. “That’s great! I-I guess I was just, um, hoping to spend more time with you.”

Adrien practically choked on air as he stared down at her with widened eyes. Ladybug wanted to spend more time with him?! Was he dreaming or did she really just say that? The longer that he stood there gaping at her, though, the more nervous that she got. When it looked like she was about to bolt out of there, he quickly grabbed her wrist, staring at her earnestly. “Me too. I had a lot of fun with you tonight. M-maybe if we’d both like to... we could do this again?”

Her gaze was focused on the hand that was still on her wrist and just as he was about to move it, Ladybug connected their gazes again. She gave him a bashful smile, brushing away a stray strand of hair as her cheeks turned a rosy red. “I’d really like that too, Adrien.”

He felt his own face turn warm as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “So... same time tomorrow, then?”

Ladybug frowned slightly and he wondered what he had said wrong when she spoke up, “Are you sure? I-I mean, I know you’re busy and I don’t want to take up too much of your time. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble.”

Adrien’s gaze softened as he looked at her. It was no wonder he was completely enamored by her. She was one of the kindest, most considerate people he knew. He moved his hand from her wrist to her hand, squeezing it gently. Feeling bold, he murmured, “I’ll always make time for you, Ladybug.”

She gaped at him in surprise before throwing her arms around him. Ladybug buried her head in his neck as she murmured, “I couldn’t have asked for a better fencing partner, Adrien. Thank you so much. You’re amazing.”

He chuckled lightly, his eyes fluttering closed as he hugged her back just as tightly. They shot back open, however, when he felt the soft brush of lips against his cheek. Adrien flushed a dark red, cupping the cheek with his hand as butterflies fluttered to life in his chest. Ladybug pulled away, smiling shyly at him and he itched to pull her back into another embrace.

“S-see you tomorrow, Adrien,” she stuttered before quickly flinging herself out of the courtyard with a flick of her yo-yo.

He watched her go with a fond smile, sighing dreamily. He had another date with Ladybug tomorrow. It was a while before Adrien finally found his voice, calling on his own transformation so that he could head home as well. As he raced home. his thoughts were entirely focused on one girl, wondering what tomorrow would bring him.

Chapter Text

“So,” Ladybug started after she swooped in through Adrien’s window one night. She blinked over at him rather innocently as a small blush lit up her cheeks. “I heard a rumor the other night.”

“What kind of a rumor?” He frowned at her, looking rather confused.

“A-a silly one, I think.” She brushed a stray strand of hair away irritatedly, glancing away from him.

Adrien chuckled softly, leaning close to her as he gave her a small smile. “So silly that you snuck into my room in the middle of the night to ask me?”

Ladybug’s blush turned a shade darker and she shoved his shoulder lightly. Quietly, she muttered, “I do this most nights, Adrien. And I thought you were alright with me coming over.”

“I am! I am!” Adrien rushed to reassure her. “I just can’t remember the last time you came over because of a rumor. Especially a silly one, like you said.”

Ladybug took a deep breath, shaking her head before sitting down on his couch. “You’re right. It was stupid. J-just forget I said anything, please.”

Adrien shot her a soft look before following her. He sat down next to her, placing a hand over hers before he murmured, “Nothing is stupid if you say it, Ladybug. Just tell me what it was. It’s obviously bothering you. Besides, maybe I can help to clear it up or not.”

She tugged on one of her pigtails anxiously. Nibbling on her bottom lip, Ladybug glanced away from his sparkling green eyes that begged her to reveal her secrets. Fiddling with her hands, she eventually sighed before speaking, “O-one of my friends said something to me today... S-she, um, might have heard that you liked me.”

She took a cautious peek over at him, feeling butterflies roar to life in her chest as she recalled that conversation with Alya. Her best friend had been elated to tell her that Adrien liked her. Or, well, Ladybug... She had casually pushed her to confess or at least tell him that she knew. Which, for some reason, she was actually doing.

Carefully, Ladybug shot a quick peek over at him, wondering if she could gauge his reaction from his face. If anything, it just made her more confused. He didn’t seem shocked by the revelation that she knew. Instead of the shy grin or displeased frown she was expecting, she instead got a confused smile.

“Of course I like you, Ladybug,” Adrien laughed, gesturing around the room. “You come over practically every night. It’d be weird if I didn’t like you. We’re basically best friends.”

Oh, she blinked. He didn’t understand. Great, now she needed to rebuild her confidence to ask him again, as though she wasn’t already freaking out.

Steeling herself, Ladybug sucked in another deep breath. “I-I meant that she implied that you liked me.”

This time, she kept her gaze firmly focused on him, watching as Adrien’s eyes widened in shock. Her heart stumbled in her chest as she tried to analyze every microexpression. Did that mean she was right? Or had Alya been completely wrong?

Adrien coughed, glancing away from her as his cheeks lit up a bright red. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously as he asked, “W-where did you hear that from?”

Shifting slightly in her seat, Ladybug murmured quietly, “My best friend.”

This had been a mistake. Obviously, Alya had heard wrong or his crush had been in the past. Either way, this was one of the most embarrassing things she had ever done. Feeling her face burn a bright red, she jumped up, already tightening her grip on her yo-yo. “N-never mind! Y-you can lorget... I mean for get I said anything! L-like I said it was just a silly rumor. I don’t know why I even asked you about it.”

“Wait, wait, Ladybug!” Adrien hopped up too, reaching down to grab onto her hand before she could fling her yo-yo out and flee. Nervously, she glanced back at him and he flushed, tearing his gaze away as he cleared his throat. “W-what would you do if I said it was true?”

Her mouth fell open in shock as she gaped at him in disbelief. If it was true? Well, she’d probably yank him into a kiss and never let him leave her side again. Of course, she couldn’t exactly say that without completely scaring him off. Instead, Ladybug settled on a small smile. “Well, I’d probably tell you that I liked you back. For a while now, actually. H-hypothetically speaking, obviously.”

Adrien froze, tensing up in shock as he gazed up at her. For a second, she wondered if she had broken him before he quickly snapped out of it, shaking his head. “T-then your friend was correct. I do have a crush on you. A pretty big one too. It actually probably started before we began our little midnight meetings.”

Now it was her turn to freeze, her heart practically stopping in her chest as she heard his words. Adrien liked her. Was this real or had she passed out in class again? Squeezing her eyes shut tightly, she quickly opened them back up to see that Adrien was still grinning at her. Yep, definitely real.

Relaxing completely, Ladybug gave him a shy grin, feeling butterflies flutter in her chest again. “I-I like you too, Adrien. And I definitely liked you before we began our little, secret meetings, too.”

His face split into a wide beam before he cupped her cheeks, pulling her into a sweet kiss. Her eyes widened for a split moment before she relaxed into his embrace, wrapping her arms around him as she sunk into their kiss. Running her hands through his hair, she let herself rejoice about the fact that she was finally kissing Adrien. Tingles ran up her spine as he tilted his head, deepening their kiss.

After a few moments, he pulled back, murmuring, “Was that alright?”

“D-definitely,” Ladybug giggled back. “I’ve wanted to do that for a while.”

“Me too,” Adrien laughed, caressing her cheek.

She leaned into his hand, closing her eyes as she enjoyed his warmth. Eventually, her eyes fluttered back open and she smiled at him. “So, now that we know we both like each other... A-Adrien, would you like to be my boyfriend?”

“Yes! Definitely,” he practically shouted, his eyes sparkling with joy.

Giggling with glee, Ladybug pulled him back into another kiss, nibbling on her boyfriend’s bottom lip. She definitely needed to thank Alya after this was over. Her best friend deserved the entire world after this.

Chapter Text

Ladybug nibbled on her bottom lip as she swung back and forth nearby Adrien’s window, debating on whether or not she should go in. She had seen his latest Instagram post where he was huddled in a pink blanket, looking obviously sick. Immediately, she had jumped up, rushing to make him something so that he could feel better. This led her to where she was now, pacing outside his window as she argued with herself over whether she should go inside or not. Glancing down at the still-warm bowl of soup she was currently holding, she realized that it was now or never. Sucking in a deep breath for courage, she pushed open one of his windows and snuck inside.

Glancing around, she breathed a quiet sigh of relief when she didn’t see him anywhere. Tip-toeing towards his desk, she pulled out a pen to sign her name on the gift when she heard a muffled groan. Her head shot up, immediately whipping over to a still snoring Adrien who was currently hiding underneath a wide array of blankets. Ladybug winced, holding her breath as she prayed he wouldn’t wake up. He didn’t and her tense form immediately relaxed. Quickly, she scribbled her name down, hoping that he’d enjoy the gift when he woke up. With one last, soft glance over at the sweet boy, Ladybug began to creep out of the room again.

She didn’t get very far, however, when a quiet croaking voice called out to her, “Ladybug?”

Her eyes clenched shut as her hand twitched to the yo-yo. Ladybug seriously considered bolting from the room, leaving Adrien in his sick, hazy state to wonder if he had just imagined her. But her name was signed by the soup and then he’d probably think she was completely crazy. Huffing out a quiet breath, she turned back around to face him, a half-smile on her face. “H-hi Adrien.”

Slowly, he sat up, rubbing his eyes a few times as he peered back at her. “Ladybug, what are you doing here?”

Feeling her cheeks burn a bright pink, she glanced away from him. He was wearing Ladybug-themed pajamas. How cute was that?! Clearing her throat, she gestured over to his desk. “Um, I, uh, heard that you were sick today. I-I felt bad so I brought a bowl of soup over for you. I hope you like it.”

Adrien gaped at her in shock for a few moments before a wide beam spread across his face. “Thank you so much, Ladybug! I’m feeling better already!”

Her heart stuttered in her chest as she giggled happily. He was so adorable. Tucking a stray strand of hair back behind her ear, she gestured back over to his window. “Well, I’m glad I could help a little bit. I-I should probably go now, though. I’m sorry for waking you.”

“No, no, don’t worry about it!” Adrien immediately shook his head, interrupting her walk over to the window. He scrambled up out of bed and Ladybug shot him a wary look as he stood on a pair of shaky legs. “I needed to wake up soon anyway because I still have work I need to finish.”

“Are you sure you’re alright?” She shifted nervously, worrying her bottom lip as he looked like he was about to pass out any minute.

Adrien waved her off, even as he swayed on his feet. “I’m fine.”

She frowned as his green eyes, which usually looked so alert and aware, grew hazy and misty. Already scolding herself, she turned towards him, gently guiding him back down onto the bed. Shaking her head, she murmured, “No, no, you’re really not.”

Instead of protesting, Adrien merely blinked up at her sleepily, sinking down underneath the covers. Giving him a soft, adoring smile, she brushed some of his hair back out of his face. His eyes slowly shut and Ladybug sighed lightly. With one last, fond caress on his cheek, she turned to leave. A hand on her wrist stopped her, however, and she glanced down at it with wide eyes.

“Stay, please,” he murmured, his eyes still closed. “I don’t want to wake up and have this all be a dream.”

Ladybug turned a light red, licking her lips as she slowly lifted her gaze from his hand on her wrist back to his face. Carefully, she pulled away, resting his hand back onto the bed. Giggling softly, she ran her hands through his hair once again. Quietly, she whispered, “This isn’t a dream. I promise. My soup will remind you of that.”

Adrien simply sighed, his warm breath brushing across her face. Her blush turned darker as he snuggled under the covers, clutching a pillow to his chest. He was, without a doubt, the sweetest boy she knew. Squealing to herself silently, Ladybug tip-toed away from him to add more than just her name onto the note she had left for him.

I hope the soup still tastes good when you wake up! Don’t forget to put it in the microwave for a few seconds so it can still warm you up. Sorry again for waking you up! I hope you feel better soon :).

Love,

Ladybug

She nibbled on her lower lip as she debated crossing out the love. But it was true, after all. Surely he wouldn’t think too much about it. Feeling brave, she left the note the way it was, hoping that Adrien wouldn’t overthink everything and jump to the right conclusion. With one final, adoring glance at his snoring figure, Ladybug crept out of his room once again. This time, she was determined to let him finish his nap, hopeful that he would wake up feeling perfect and return back to school shortly.

With a small exhale when she made it over to his window without waking him, she turned around to blow him a kiss. Carefully, she pulled out her yo-yo, pulling herself out of the room as quickly and quietly as she could. Heading back to her house, she couldn’t wait to squeal about the events of today to her kwami.

Chapter Text

Ladybug was sitting on a building near the Seine river, her eyes closed as she listened to the quiet, simple sounds of the water. It was a warm, perfect night. Stars flickered above her and the moon was full and bright. She sighed gently, her gaze fixed around the lights of the city around her. These were some of her favorite days. When she was able to sneak out and just listen to the soft chatter of civilians below her. Leaning her head back, she enjoyed the light brush of wind that blew against her.

Blinking her eyes back open, Ladybug frowned in slight confusion when she spotted a familiar boy walking alone. His blonde hair gleamed in the starlight and she tilted her head as she watched him. It was late and Adrien should definitely be snuggled under the covers by now. Nibbling on her lower lip, she carefully debated with herself. Was there any point in going over there and asking him if something was wrong?

After a few moments of scolding herself, she eventually sucked in a deep breath, swinging down to greet him. Giving him a shy smile as Adrien blinked at her in surprise, she asked, “What are you still doing awake? Is everything alright?”

“Yeah, I-I’m fine,” he answered, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “I just couldn’t sleep.”

“Me either,” Ladybug giggled, content that he was alright. She then gestured up to her rooftop with another fond grin. “I usually go up there whenever I’m not tired and listen to the sounds of the waves. It never fails to calm me down.”

Adrien shot a longing glance up at the rooftop before bringing his green eyes back to hers. “That sounds lovely, Ladybug. I typically just take a walk whenever I can’t sleep.”

“Does it work?”

“Sometimes,” Adrien sighed, glancing away from her as he stared over at the Seine. “Though I’ve been walking for quite a while today and I’m still wide awake.”

Ladybug felt a frown crease her brow. That just wouldn’t do. He deserved sleep. Especially with how busy his schedule was. Sucking in a deep breath for courage, she extended a hand out to him. Her face grew warm as she asked nervously, “I can take you somewhere... if you’d like. Maybe that would help?”

“R-really?” Adrien stuttered, his own cheeks turning a light shade of red as he gazed up at her. She simply nodded her head, causing him to gently place his hand in hers.

Feeling rather brave, Ladybug pulled him to her tightly, enjoying the way he pressed up against her side. With a happy, giddy sigh, she threw her yo-yo, wrapping it around a building before she swung off with Adrien in her arms. Her grip tightened even more as he buried his face against her side. She turned a bright red, smiling down at him before bringing her focus back to their destination, the Eiffel Tower. When they landed, she carefully set Adrien down on the ground, murmuring quietly, “We’re here now.”

He gaped around at their surroundings, enjoying both the city’s bright lights and the beautiful stars lit up all around them. Ladybug watched him happily, enjoying his reaction. It was much the same as hers when she came here for the very first time. She felt both nervous and excited that Adrien was here with her. Usually, it was her and Chat who came here after a long day of patrol, but now she really got to be here with the love of her life. She was too lucky sometimes.

“Wow,” Adrien whispered quietly, his wide eyes still taking in the sights before them. “This is gorgeous.”

“I’m glad you like it,” Ladybug beamed at him. “This is another one of my favorite spots to go to whenever I can’t sleep.”

He chuckled, his emerald eyes gleaming at her almost as brilliantly as the stars. “I can see why.”

She flushed before sitting down on the edge, sighing softly as she watched the civilians below her. Adrien sat down next to her and Ladybug tensed slightly as their sides brushed together. She clenched her fists as she fought the urge to press their lips together too.

Instead of giving in to the temptation, she gestured around them. “I think this is simply the best spot in Paris, don’t you? Plus, it’s all ours right now.”

Ladybug bumped her shoulder against his lightly and watched in satisfaction as his cheeks turned pink once again. She needed to find a way to get him to blush more often. He looked so adorable flustered.

“Y-yeah, definitely,” Adrien replied shyly before he turned his head, connecting their gazes. Her eyes widened as she blinked at him in surprise. She could honestly stare into his eyes forever. They were just so beautiful. It was silent for a few more moments, the two gazing into each other’s eyes.

Eventually, Adrien turned his head away, breaking their small moment and Ladybug immediately scolded herself mentally. He’s going to think she’s such a dork! Why hadn’t she said anything?! Clearing her throat, she gazed steadfastly at the sky, refusing to get distracted again. “S-so, are you feeling sleepy at all?”

“Mhm,” he hummed, causing her to sneak a glance over at him. He was staring straight ahead as well. He swayed slightly, though, and she knew it was probably time for their little meeting to end. She didn’t need him to fall off the Eiffel Tower and wake up again.

Unable to stop herself from grinning with that little thought, Ladybug stood up, carefully pulling Adrien into her arms as she murmured, “We should probably get you home then.”

“Thanks.” He gave her a toothy grin sleepily before his eyes slowly shut. She smiled at him adoringly before tightening her grip on him, swinging them both to his mansion. She carefully set him down on his bed, ready to leave when his hand reached out to hold onto her wrist.

“Goodnight, Ladybug.” Adrien smiled brightly at her.

“Goodnight, Adrien,” she leaned down, brushing a kiss against his cheek before whispering softly, “Thank you for staying with me tonight.”

Ladybug gave him one last wave, watching happily as his eyes fluttered closed and stayed closed. After that, she whipped out her yo-yo for the last time, yawning quietly as she also couldn’t wait to collapse on her bed.

Chapter Text

Ladybug sat on Adrien’s couch, sneaking a few peeks over at the blonde boy as they watched a movie together. She cuddled her knees up to her chest, feeling a shiver run up her spine. His house was a lot colder than hers was. However, she attributed that to the fact that she lived above a bakery for all of her life.

“Are you cold?” Adrien asked, frowning over at her in concern.

“Oh, no, I’m fine.” Ladybug waved his concerns off, immediately putting her feet back down as a pink hue lit up her cheeks.

Instead of being assured by her answer, Adrien’s frown simply deepened. Opening her mouth, she was about to tell him not to worry, that she was a superheroine and she could take care of herself. His eyes brightened before she could, though, and the next thing she knew he spoke excitedly, “Let’s build a fort!”

“What?” Ladybug asked, blinked over at him in surprise. Had she heard him right?

“Yeah,” he bobbed his head up and down eagerly. “Let’s build a pillow fort! I have more pillows and blankets downstairs that we can use. Plus, then you won’t have to be so cold.”

One of her eyebrows rose steadily as she watched him stand up. “You’re serious?”

“Yep! If you want to start setting us up, I’ll be right back with more supplies.” Adrien gave her a wink before dashing out the door.

She blinked after him once again, wondering how he was so fast. Realizing something, however, her blush darkened. Adrien had winked at her! Did that mean something or was he just being playful?! Shaking her head roughly, Ladybug pushed aside the fluttery feeling that had settled in her stomach and stood up. Brushing her hands off, she yanked all of Adrien’s blankets off his bed, starting to set up their little pillow fort.

When he came back, he chuckled gleefully at her progress before beginning to place some of the blankets and pillows he brought down. Together, they worked silently and rather quickly. A few quiet giggles echoed around the small fort and every time they would glance over at each other, their lips twitching as they tried not to wake up Nathalie or Gabriel.

Working with Adrien was amazing. Their minds worked in tandem and it was almost like working with Chat Noir. He seemed to know what she was thinking before she even thought it. Sighing happily to herself, Ladybug realized that they were an even better match than she had originally thought.

In the end, they both stood outside the small fort, gazing down at it with pride. Beaming over at Adrien, she nodded down at their work. “Great job, Adrien! I’m glad we did this.”

“Me too,” he grinned back at her almost shyly. “You know, I’ve never made a pillow fort before.”

“Really?”

“Mhm,” Adrien hummed before taking her hand, dragging her inside their small, dark fortress. “Now come in! Let’s see if all of this is enough to keep you warm.”

Ladybug laughed, letting him pull her inside. When they sat down on his pillows, she finally sighed in contentment, enjoying the warm heat of their fort. Just like home , she thought to herself. Glancing down, she felt her face get even warmer. Adrien was still holding onto her hand. Squealing to herself silently, she tried not to outwardly panic. Maybe she really did still have a shot.

“What do you think?” Adrien gestured around them, squeezing her hand. “Is this warm enough for you?”

Nodding at him with a giddy laugh, Ladybug pulled a blanket around her. Looking at him softly, she murmured, “Yes, Adrien. This is absolutely perfect.”

Instead of responding back, he simply continued to stare at her with a grin spread wide across his face. Ducking her gaze away embarrassedly, she caught a glimpse of the TV that was too far away to see anything with. With a small pout, she sighed longingly. “But now we’re too far. We won’t be able to finish the rest of our show.”

“I can fix that easily!” Adrien said cheerily, moving closer to her as he pulled out his phone. His side brushed lightly against hers as he pressed play, continuing their show. Feeling brave, Ladybug scooted even closer, her side flush against his as she watched the show.

Shivers raced up and down her spine as she shot a nervous glance at him, wondering if that was okay. The only sign that he recognized her move was a light pink flush to his cheeks. He didn’t reprimand her, though, and she took that as a sign that it was alright. Relaxing slightly, she forced her focus from Adrien to his phone, giggling at their show. Thank god for movie nights, Ladybug hummed to herself, enjoying the warmth that once again wrapped around her.

Chapter Text

“Uh, h-hi, guys!” Ladybug winced awkwardly, waving her hand at the small party of boys who had gathered in Adrien’s bedroom. She had swung through the window as a superheroine after getting shut out of the party as Marinette. Now, though, she realized how much of a mistake this was. Perhaps it would have been best if she had stuck to her original idea of putting a disguise on. Shifting uncomfortably as everyone’s eyes were focused entirely on her, she tightened her grip on her yo-yo and wondered if she could still make a break for it. She steadfastly ignored Adrien’s gaze so she missed the soft, adoring look he sent for her.

“Uh, dudette,” Nino finally spoke up and Ladybug’s eyes snapped to his narrowed gaze. His arms were crossed against his chest as he said pointedly, “This is an all-dude’s party. No girls allowed.”

She flinched back, opening her mouth to begin stuttering out apologies. Of course she shouldn’t have come here as Ladybug. It was a stupid idea but she had been rather desperate to see Adrien. Plus, now she was definitely going to receive a stern lecture from Tikki.

Before she could begin speaking, though, Adrien cut her off, sliding in front of Nino as he said, “No, no, I definitely think it’s alright if you stay. This is a party for me anyway, right, Nino? And, after all, she has saved all of us multiple times.”

Ladybug blinked a pair of wide, blue eyes at her crush. Adrien wanted her to stay? Her heart tripped in her chest as Nino stuttered but eventually nodded his head, glancing at her as he sighed resignedly. “I guess you can stay.”

She felt her cheeks warm as Adrien turned back to her with a wide grin. He rubbed the back of his neck as he gestured at his friend who had gone back to play music. “Sorry about him. I think he got a little bit carried away with this whole party idea.”

Ladybug giggled quietly before waving a hand in the air. “Don’t worry about it. This is my fault anyways. I heard the music and got curious. Plus, parties don’t usually end well for Paris.”

There, she thought to herself in satisfaction. That was a sensible reason to come to Adrien’s party. This way she didn’t have to mention how angry she had gotten when everyone but her had been allowed in. Or how badly she had wanted to see him.

“Right, right,” he nodded, a look of understanding in his eyes as he twisted the ring on his finger.

Feeling bold, Ladybug took a step towards him, taking his hand in hers. She squeezed it as she gave him a soft smile. “I just wanted to thank you again for letting me stay, Adrien. That was really sweet of you and you didn’t need to do that for me.”

His wide, green eyes seemed to be entirely focused on her hand that was still on his before he brought them back up to hers slowly. He cleared his throat before shaking his head quickly. “Don’t worry about it, Ladybug. I’m really glad you could come over. Even if it was just because you were worried about akumas.”

“That might not have been my only reason,” she murmured, peeking up at him from beneath her lashes. “I also might have been hoping to see my favorite civilian.”

Ladybug nudged his shoulder lightly, giggling happily as Adrien stared at her in shock. He pointed to himself as he muttered, “M-me? I’m your favorite civilian?”

“Mhm,” she hummed, winking at him and trying to keep her smile from getting any wider. “Don’t tell anyone, though. It’s supposed to be a secret.”

Adrien ducked his head down as he blushed faintly. Butterflies fluttered in her chest at that reaction. He was such a cutie! Opening her mouth to say something else in the hopes of getting his blush to darken further, Ladybug was stopped when someone burst into the room. His hair was bright pink along with a mustache that covered most of his light blue skin. At the end of both of his hands were two glowing, shiny disco balls.

“So, Adrien? Too busy for your number one fan? Well, I'll make sure you never forget to invite me to one of your parties again.” The akuma spoke angrily, causing her to tense up as her eyes narrowed.

The room filled with laughter and her gaze shot to Adrien as the akuma began absorbing everyone into his disco balls. Reacting on instinct, Ladybug tugged him to her protectively, diving out of the window she had arrived in with Adrien in her arms. She whizzed the two of them far away from the mansion, setting him down on a safe street only when she was certain they weren’t being followed.

“Are you alright?” she asked, searching his eyes for any sign of pain as they seemed unaware and out-of-focus. Panicked that she might have damaged him somehow in her haste to get away, Ladybug grasped his arms almost desperately. “Adrien?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry!” He shook his head quickly and gave her a small smile.

“Good,” she breathed out a sigh of relief, relaxing considerably as she dropped her hands from his shoulders.

Adrien chuckled quietly as his smile turned even more amused. He gestured at her as he said, “I guess it was a good thing you came over as Ladybug. You were right. Parties usually do end in disaster.”

Ladybug’s lips quirked with amusement as well before she turned more serious. “Either way, Chat Noir and I will handle this quickly! Don’t worry, Adrien. You should be able to return to your party soon.”

Twirling her yo-yo in her hand, she was about to fling herself back over to his mansion when she shot him a quick look over her shoulder. “I’m glad you’re alright,” she murmured, before taking off, ready to finish this fight once and for all.

She missed Adrien’s lovestruck sigh as he whispered after her, “I’ll see you soon, Ladybug. Plagg claws out!”

Chapter Text

Adrien hummed, stepping back after he had lit the last candle in his room. Proudly, he surveyed his efforts over the past hour. Flickering candlelight lit up every square inch of his bedroom, making it look both dreamy and romantic. It was very reminiscent of the time he had brought both Marinette and Ladybug to his private spot as Chat Noir. This time would be different, though. Because this time he would be able to kiss and hold Ladybug in his arms.

Some time ago, they had begun a secret relationship after he had unwittingly spat out his feelings to her after being struck by an akuma. After Ladybug had won the battle, she had shyly dropped him off at home. Adrien could still hear her flustered confession perfectly in his memory even after all this time. It had been one of the happiest days of his life, especially when they shared a few kisses after agreeing to start a relationship.

“Will you quit spacing out?” Plagg’s nasally voice interrupted his daydreams, causing Adrien to shake his head rapidly to snap out of it. “Your lady love is going to be here soon and I still need my cheese.”

“Shush, Plagg! If Ladybug catches you here we’ll both be in serious trouble!” He glared at his kwami, crossing his arms across his chest. Plagg simply stared back at him nonplussed, his tail swishing out behind him lazily. Adrien sighed, scrubbing a hand down his face, giving up as he tossed a piece of camembert to his kwami. Plagg immediately brightened, scarfing down the cheese before floating over to one of his usual hiding places.

It was just in time, too, because the next thing he heard was a gasp. His gaze snapped over to the window where he saw Ladybug, her eyes darting around the room as she looked at all of the candles. One of her hands shakily came up to cover her mouth as she blinked over at him. “Did you do this all for me?” she asked, her words brimming with emotion as she gazed at him adoringly.

Adrien flushed before rushing over to take her hand in his, squeezing it gently. “Of course I did! You mean the entire world to me, Ladybug. You’re worth this and more. Besides, this is only a candle of the love I hold for you.”

Her eyes narrowed at the pun, her hand coming down from her mouth to slap his shoulder lightly. “You didn’t need to do all of this, Adrien. Seriously, this must have taken you ages to set up. I don’t need this to know how much you love me.”

“But I wanted to do it!” Adrien bounced eagerly on his toes, shooting her a beaming grin. “And you do like it, right?”

Her sapphire eyes softened as Ladybug nodded her head. She caressed his face, causing him to lean into her palm. Quietly, she murmured, “Of course I do, Adrien. I just wish you wouldn’t strain yourself over something as simple as date night.”

“Eh,” he waved her off, taking a step back as he sat down on the couch, patting the spot next to him. “Just consider this my reparations for not being able to see you every day or take you out to fancy restaurants.”

Ladybug turned a dark shade of red as an unreadable expression flashed across her face. It was gone in the next second as she released a long-suffering sigh before scooting into the spot next to him. Shaking her head, she then pointed a finger at him, “I’ll let it slide this time, Agreste. But next date is my turn, so prepare to be swept off your feet.”

Adrien’s heart melted and he slowly pushed her finger aside, taking her hand in his as he squeezed it again. “You always sweep me off my feet,” he murmured.

Ladybug’s cheeks flushed again before she giggled quietly. “You’re too charming for your own good, Adrien.”

“I know. I’m the perfect package.”

That got a good snort out of Ladybug and he beamed with pride as she dissolved into a fit of chuckles. Her laughter was his favorite sound in the world. When she finally calmed down, she leaned forward, tapping his nose with a small smirk. “And an ego to boot.”

Instead of responding, Adrien simply tugged her towards him, pressing their lips together. Ladybug squeaked once before she melted into his arms, kissing him back just as passionately. Quickly, his hands reached up and tugged her ponytails out, letting his fingers roam through her beautiful, dark locks.

Ladybug ran her own fingers through her hair with a small pout when they eventually parted for air. “Must you take my pigtails out every time? I swear, my hair must look awful every time I leave.”

“No,” Adrien spoke softly, leaning forward to take one of her hands out of her hair, intertwining their fingers. “It looks beautiful. You should leave it down more often.”

Ladybug squeezed his hand back, staring at him adoringly. “How did I get so lucky? I swear I must have the sweetest boyfriend in the world.”

“You should be asking how I got so lucky,” he laughed. “Because I know I have the sweetest girlfriend in the world.”

“Flatterer.” She stuck her tongue out at him before tugging him towards her, bringing him back into another perfect kiss. Adrien’s tongue swept out, enjoying the sweet taste of her cherry lip gloss.

This was his new favorite memory. If he ever got akumatized by Hawkmoth he would just need to remember this and he’d be able to shake off any negative emotions. Being able to simply hold and kiss the love of his life after so many years was absolutely worth the wait. Especially now that he could finally treat her the way he had been dreaming of since he was a young kid.

Adrien would always love her and nothing, not even Hawkmoth could ever tear them apart. He would make absolute certainty of it. She was much too important to him for him to ever even consider the idea of her leaving. He only hoped she felt the same way about him.

Chapter Text

“You know... sometimes you remind me of someone,” Ladybug hummed from her seat on his couch.

Adrien’s glance darted over to her as he looked at her from the corner of his eye. Pausing the TV show they were currently watching, he turned to look at her and raised an eyebrow. “Humor me,” he asked. “Who exactly do I remind you of?”

Her cheeks flushed and she ducked her head down. Waving a hand in the air, she mumbled, “No one. Forget I said anything. It’s silly anyway. I don’t even know why I thought about it.”

He chuckled, his lips quirking up with amusement. “It must have been somewhat important if you thought about it in the middle of our favorite show.”

That brought Ladybug’s head back up as she gave him a playful glare. Instead of responding, though, she simply leaned forward to grab for the remote that he had placed next to his side.

Adrien quickly snatched it up, though, shooting her a playful smirk as he held it away from her. “No way. First I want to know who I remind you of.”

Curiosity was burning away at him. Could it be who he hoped it was? What would he even say if it was his superhero identity? Could he finally reveal himself at long last or would Ladybug actually kill him?

She exhaled a long-suffering sigh, rolling her eyes as she leaned back onto the couch. She huffed once more, giving him one last, desperate look. Adrien didn’t give in, though, and after a few more tense, silent moments Ladybug finally muttered, “It’s Chat Noir, okay. You remind me of my partner.”

Adrien was struck speechless after that. It was his superhero identity. The only thing was now he was torn between what to do. Half of him wanted to reveal that she was correct then and there. Maybe after he revealed, she’d need to reveal too and he could finally figure out the identity of the girl who filled his dreams every night. Of course, the other half of him wanted to immediately turn tail and run out of the room. Ladybug emphasized secrecy for a reason. If Adrien revealed himself now, he would certainly be in trouble.

The remote fell from his hand and he blinked down at it in confusion. Ladybug shifted awkwardly and then darted her gaze away from his. “I-I’m sorry. I honestly don’t know why that popped into my head. It was probably the puns. O-or the fact that you voiced Chat in the movie.”

She trailed off, fidgeting with her hands as she brought her gaze back, peering at him rather anxiously. Adrien gave her a small grin, rubbing the back of his neck as he shook his head. “It’s fine. I get that a lot actually. I think the resemblance is rather uncanny, too.”

“God, you are just so... so... Chat-like,” Ladybug said, a smile stretched wide across her face as she shook her head slowly. “Especially when you make comments like that. It’s crazy how similar you two are.”

Adrien chuckled, barely able to contain the smirk that threatened to reveal that she was getting dangerously close to the truth. Shrugging, he said, “I try, but I can only hope to one day match the original purrfection that is Chat Noir.”

Her eyes widened and he couldn’t stop the wince that he made. Was the pun too close? Had she figured it out? In the next second, though, Ladybug burst into a fit of giggles. He couldn’t help but to join her, falling against her side as he dissolved into a burst of laughter himself.

This whole conversation made Adrien wonder if he’d ever said anything similar to Ladybug. After all, if she made comments comparing the two of them perhaps he had made his own comments. Perhaps, even though Ladybug may not know it herself, maybe her subconscious recognized him. And if her subconscious could recognize him, maybe he could recognize her.
Either way, he was getting too close to something he probably shouldn’t. Pushing himself up and off of her side, Adrien wiped the tears of amusement from his eyes. Ladybug’s sapphire eyes then connected with his, sparkling up at him as she gave him a shy grin. Clenching his fists slightly, he fought the urge to tug her into his arms. Sometimes she was just so beautiful. Already, Adrien was missing the warmth of her side pressed against his.

Ladybug giggled one last time before she sat up, sucking in a deep breath. “Sorry, but sometimes I forget that your puns can be just as awful as his.”

“Hey!” Adrien said offendedly. “My puns are amazing and so are Chat Noir’s!”

She shook her head before poking him in the chest with a small smirk dancing across her lips. “Don’t you mean that your puns are purrfect?”

He gasped, unable to stop himself from taking her hand in his and squeezing it lightly. “My dear Ladybug... did I just hear you pun?”

Her smirk turned even more smug as she said, “I have been known to purrtake in a few.”

Adrien snorted, this time allowing himself to tug her into a hug. Ladybug tensed once, briefly, and he worried that he had pushed his luck but she soon relaxed into his embrace. Breathing a quiet sigh of relief, he buried his nose in her hair, enjoying these few precious moments that they could spend together.

“I don’t want to go,” Ladybug muttered almost inaudibly.

Practically choking at that admission, he spoke quickly, “You don’t have to go.”

She giggled once, shaking her head before she pushed herself out of his embrace. His arms longed to pull her back but he stopped when he saw her blue eyes staring at him seriously. Ladybug tapped her earrings with a brief nod. “Yes, I do. My kwami, Tikki, is probably hungry.”

She stood up and Adrien followed her over to his window. They both paused right before she left and he rubbed the back of his neck, shifting on his feet. “Thanks for coming, Ladybug... even if we didn’t get to finish the new episode of our show.”

She gave him a small grin, reaching out to squeeze his arm once. “I guess I’ll just need to come back so we can finish it.”

That was the last thing that Ladybug said to him before she swung out of the room, taking his heart along with her. Adrien sighed as he watched her go, already awaiting his next chance to see her.

Chapter Text

“I can’t believe I’m actually doing this,” Ladybug huffed, glaring up at the grand hotel in front of her. She could hear the faint sounds of classical music echoing out from the ballroom. Pinching her brow, she sighed and wondered how she had gotten herself into this mess. When she had initially got the invitation to the ball, she had simply snickered and showed it off to Chat Noir. Obviously, there was no way she was going. Not to a ball hosted by Chloé, anyway.

Instead of seeing Chat light up with humor, though, he looked at her rather mischievously. “You have to go,” he had said, tapping on her invitation.

“What?!” Ladybug spluttered, gazing at him like he had just grown two heads. “There’s no way I’m going! I don’t even want to go!”

He had simply shrugged at her, a devious twinkle still in his eyes. “Consider this your make-up for missing the statue event.”

“That was years ago!” she had shouted in annoyance, throwing her hands up in the air.

“And now we can be even,” Chat laughed before taking off on his baton, starting patrol.

This led Ladybug to where she was now, shifting uncomfortably in an elevator as she awaited the ding to her inevitable demise. Chat was right, after all. She wouldn’t let him hold this over her head forever. When the elevator doors did finally open, though, instead of wincing with discomfort, her mouth fell open in awe. There were millions of gorgeous gowns circling the ballroom floor and suddenly her hands itched for her sketchbook. There was so much inspiration here. For the first time, Ladybug was actually grateful that she came. She would definitely need to get Chat a gift after this was over.

Gaping at the dresses in front of her, Ladybug didn’t hear the call of her name. Nor did she see the boy who raced over to her until they collided against each other. Rubbing her head as her eyes clenched shut, she stuttered out an apology, “I-I’m s-so sorry! That was completely my fault! I got distracted and I didn’t look where I was going!”

“It’s alright, Ladybug.”

She heard a familiar chuckle and her eyes shot open, widening in disbelief as she stared up at the face above her. It was Adrien Agreste. There was a charming smile on his face as he gazed at her. It was a wonder that she didn’t pass out right then and there. He was in a neatly pressed, black suit that looked amazing on him. Feeling her cheeks bloom into a bright red blush, Ladybug eventually murmured, “A-are you okay? I didn’t hit you too hard, did I?”

“Yeah, don’t worry, I’m fine.” She watched as Adrien’s hand came up to rub the back of his neck. Goodness, could he get any cuter?! It almost seemed impossible.

Heaving a relieved sigh, she gave him a small grin. “That’s good.”

He nodded back at her before his head tilted in curiosity. His eyes glimmered, though, almost like he knew something she didn’t. “So, what are you doing here? I didn’t think a superhero would show up at a boring event like this.”

Ladybug giggled, her thoughts drifting to the last patrol she had with her partner. “Well, it’s sort of a long story...”

“I have time,” Adrien said, his lips twitching with amusement.

She raised an eyebrow at him before shrugging, diving into the story, “I actually wasn’t going to attend. My partner, Chat, sort of made me though. He said it would make us even after I missed our statue unveiling. I’m kind of glad he made me come, though. The dresses here are gorgeous. I really wish I had my sketchpad.”

Her gaze moved away from him as she looked back over at the array of dresses before her. Once again, she could practically see a new design taking shape before her eyes.

“Your sketchpad? Are you an artist?” he asked curiously.

“Sort of... I’m more of a designer, really.”

As soon as she said those words, Ladybug winced. She probably shouldn’t have said that. It was much too close to her actual identity. Turning back to him, she peeked up at him nervously. Adrien seemed almost distracted by her little speech, though, as he tapped his chin with thought.

When he caught her staring at him, though, he gave her a sheepish smile. “Sorry, I just have a friend who’s a designer, too,” Adrien then paused, murmuring to himself almost as an afterthought, “I wonder if she’d like pictures.”

Ladybug blinked in shock, wondering if he was thinking of her. Her heart fluttered in her chest at the idea, wanting to squeal with giddiness. Opening her mouth to ask a question about his friend, she was interrupted by a flurry of yellow.

“Adrikins! You made it!” Chloé squealed, wrapping him up into a tight hug.

Ladybug’s lips twisted to the side as she rolled her eyes. Of course Chloé would come and ruin the little happiness she had gained from the party. Already her eyes were darting around as she figured out the best escape route.

“Ew, what are you doing with this little bug?” Chloé lifted her nose up as she glared down at her.

Ladybug’s eyebrow twitched as she was hit by another wave of anger. It seemed like Chloé still wasn’t over the whole Miracle Queen issue. Stifling a sigh, she peeked over at Adrien and all her fury disappeared as she saw his face. He looked uncomfortable and sheepish as Chloé hung all over him. Sucking in a deep breath, she took a shot in the dark, hoping that it would pay off. “You don’t have to worry, Chloé. Adrien and I were just leaving.”

“What?!” She shrieked, darting her gaze over to Adrien. “What do you mean you’re leaving?! And with her? The party just started.”

Ladybug tensed, wondering if he would go along with her. Luckily for her, he relaxed, unwrapping Chloé’s arms from around him as he stood next to her. “Yep!” Adrien chirped rather cheerily. “We were just leaving.”

Chloé huffed, seething with anger as she stomped away on her heels, shouting for her father, “Daddy!”

“We had better go before she gets back.” Ladybug shook her head at the disappearing blonde before shooting a glance at Adrien.

“You were serious?” He blinked at her in shock.

“Kind of...,” Ladybug trailed off, shifting on her feet. “You don’t have to come with me, obviously! I just wanted to escape before I have to deal with her again.”

Scrunching her nose up, she made a face that Adrien chuckled at. Leaning in close to her, he whispered conspiratorially, “Ladybug, I would love to escape with you. Truth be told, I usually hate these types of events.”

She shivered slightly as his warm breath brushed her ear, enjoying his closeness to her. When he straightened up and she heard the click of Chloé’s heels again, Ladybug immediately snapped to attention. She grabbed onto Adrien’s hand before taking off with him. They giggled together the whole race over as they ignored the scandalized looks. When they made it to a window, she tugged him to her tightly before swinging the two of them out of the ballroom.

Ladybug stopped when she got to Adrien’s room, dropping him off as he beamed at her. She gave him a shy grin back before he spoke up, “Thanks, Ladybug. I had a really great time tonight.”

“Me too, Adrien.” She nodded at him before turning and leaping back out of the window, butterflies racing in her chest.

She didn’t hear his parting words or kiss as he murmured, “See you soon, m’lady.”

Chapter Text

When Ladybug swung into Adrien’s room later in the evening, she blinked in surprise. There were two Adrien’s staring back at her. Well, more like one Adrien and one Wayhem but the similarities were disconcerting. They were dressed exactly alike and both boys waved at her with a bright grin.

With a quiet chuckle, Ladybug slowly reached out and tugged on Adrien’s arm, pulling him to her so that she could whisper in his ear, “Um, Adrien?”

“Yes, Ladybug?” He asked, his bright grin only growing wider.

She frowned at that reaction, casting one last look back at Wayhem before turning back to the boy she was holding. “What is he doing here? N-not that I mind, of course. I-I just thought that this was our usual time to watch a movie or something together.”

“It is,” Adrien chirped. “But you’ve complained before about not being able to go out because of my strict house rules so I hired Wayhem as a sort of decoy.”

Ladybug was sure her expression was full of shock as Adrien gestured over to the other boy. Wayhem’s smile simply grew brighter as he gave her a wave. Unable to stop herself from giggling, she turned to shake her head at Adrien. “Are you serious? You actually got Wayhem to act as your decoy so that we could leave the mansion?”

“Mhm.” He puffed his chest out with pride and it took everything in her to not slap a palm to her forehead.

Ladybug then simply rolled her eyes fondly, murmuring, “You dork. You actually think this is going to work?”

Adrien pouted at her, fluttering his eyes at her innocently. “Please?”

Pinching the bridge of her nose, she gazed over at Wayhem with a long-suffering sigh. “Is this alright with you, Wayhem? I don’t want your whole night to be about pretending to be Adrien. And, like I’ve told Adrien before, I don’t mind staying in with him. I just wish he was allowed more free time outside with his friends.”

“Oh, I’m completely fine with this, Ladybug,” Wayhem nodded his head eagerly. “Pretending to be Adrien for a whole night?! That sounds amazing!”

“See, I told you he was okay with it.” Adrien beamed back at her as she brought her gaze back to him.

Unable to stop another sigh from escaping her, Ladybug nodded her head. “Fine, we can go. But I don’t have anything planned! I don’t even know where we could go.”

“You’re a superheroine,” Adrien stated plainly, his lips twitching with amusement. “I think you can find a place for us to go.”

Shooting him a playful glare, she tugged him to her. With one last wave and a mouthed thanks at Wayhem, she swung the two of them out of the window. It didn’t take long before she swung them to their destination, the Eiffel Tower. It was one of her favorite spots in Paris, so obviously she was excited to share it with Adrien.

Gesturing out to the landmarks around them, Ladybug asked humorously, “Was this what you wanted?”

“Yes,” Adrien nodded before plopping down by the edge. She blinked at the confidence he displayed, wondering how he had no fears. He sighed with wonder as he glanced down at the city, quietly murmuring, “Is this what you get to see every day?”

“Mhm,” she hummed lightly before taking a seat down next to him. Slowly, she leaned her head on Adrien’s shoulder as her eyes grew heavier. Maybe he was right. Maybe this was exactly what she needed. A quiet night out with the sweetest, most thoughtful guy in the world. Ladybug thanked Wayhem in her mind once again before she quietly whispered, “Thank you for doing this, Adrien. Even if it was kind of crazy.”

“No problem, Ladybug,” he smiled, leaning his head onto hers gently. “Anything for you.”

She felt her heart squeeze in her chest as he spoke. How lucky was she that she got to see Adrien almost every day? With a quiet snort, she eventually asked, “What are you going to do if we get caught?”

“Eh,” he waved off her concern. “I’m pretty certain that Wayhem can handle it. He’s done some pretty crazy stuff as my decoy in the past.”

Ladybug giggled, burying her head in his shoulder as she tried to imagine what kind of stuff Adrien and Wayhem would get up to together. Adrien chuckled with her and she pulled away to glance up at his cheerful face. He was so beautiful. Sometimes, she wondered if he knew what kind of effect he had on her. He turned his gaze to meet hers and she blushed a deep red, whipping her head back to stare at the setting sun.

So focused on staring ahead resolutely, Ladybug then blinked down at their hands when she felt a squeeze on hers. When had they intertwined? Had that been her? There was a brief moment of panic before all of her thoughts ceased as Adrien put a hand on her cheek. She blinked a pair of wide, blue eyes at him as he gently pulled her to him in a light kiss. Was this really happening? Could this be real? Am I actually kissing Adrien, Ladybug thought to herself before her eyes fluttered closed. If it was a dream, she would simply enjoy it while it lasted. She tilted her head, deepening the kiss as she held him to her even tighter.

Adrien eventually pulled back, though, murmuring, “I’m sorry... I just... you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.”

“I-if it’s anywhere near as long as I’ve wanted to do that. Yes, yes I do.” Ladybug stared into his green eyes even as her cheeks lit up into another red blush.

Adrien blinked at her in shock before he pulled her to him in another sweet kiss. Shivers raced up and down her spine as she realized that this was what perfection tasted like. This was officially the best day of her life. If it was a dream, she never wanted to wake up.

Chapter Text

Ladybug sighed to herself rather dreamily as she watched Adrien pose for the cameras. She was sneaking a few, secret glances over at his photoshoot, enjoying the way the sunlight hit his face just right. She couldn’t wait to get some of these pictures. He looked absolutely amazing. Her heart thumped even louder in her chest as he shifted positions, shooting the camera a sultry look.

When she finally detransformed, Tikki was probably going to murder her. It was one thing to spend a few extra moments as Ladybug after patrol, but another thing entirely to spend it watching Adrien. But he just looked so handsome that she couldn’t bear to tear herself away. After the photographer snapped a couple more pictures, Ladybug heaved a reluctant sigh. Pushing herself up, she began to swing her yo-yo so that she could swing her way home when something caught her attention. Adrien was waving at her.

She blinked in shock, pointing at herself in a silent question. He simply nodded his head vigorously, gesturing her over and Ladybug felt her cheeks light up a bright pink. With a quick gulp, she shuffled over to greet him shyly. “H-hi, Adrien. Did you need something?”

“Yes,” he beamed at her excitedly. “W-well, I mean actually, I was sort of wondering if you’d like to join me? I noticed you were about to leave but... I like having friends stay with me. If it’s alright with you, of course?”

Her eyes widened before she slowly nodded her head, stuttering, “O-of course! I-I’d love to stay! I just don’t want to interrupt anything.”

Ladybug shot a nervous glance over at the photographer as she shuffled on her feet rather awkwardly. But both he and Adrien waved her off, both of them saying that they worked better when they were inspired. Feeling another blush light up her cheeks, she nodded and sat down a few feet away from them. Her mouth dropped open as she watched them work. They seemed to be almost in sync with each other. Adrien responded to Vincent’s instructions so well even if they seemed nonsensical to her. Eventually, she was startled out of her daydreaming when the photographer called her name.

“Ladybug, would you mind taking a few pictures with Adrien here?” he asked her even as he continuously snapped pictures with his camera.

Her heart stumbled in her chest as she considered his words. Posing with Adrien? It was everything she had ever wanted since Stormy Weather. Of course, she hadn’t exactly expected her superheroine self to be asked. Shifting in her seat, Ladybug nibbled on her bottom lip. “I-I’m not so sure that’s a good idea.”

“Please, Ladybug,” Adrien spoke up and her head whipped back to gape at him. “I’d love to have you for a few pictures.”

She gulped again, feeling her heart thump as he stared at her with a pair of pleading, green eyes. With a reluctant sigh, Ladybug nodded her head shyly, muttering, “Alright... but I’m not certain I’m the best person for the job. I haven’t exactly modeled before.”

“Oh, nonsense,” Vincent waved her off. “Just look into the camera like it is Hawkmoth and you want to, say, punch him in the face.”

“Alright,” Ladybug giggled, taking a seat next to Adrien. “That should be easy.”

Sucking in a deep breath, she tried to pretend the camera was Hawkmoth like the photographer suggested. Narrowing her eyes, she attempted to glare at the camera like it was everything she despised most in the world.

“No, no! I want passion! Not this fake tomfoolery.” Vincent looked her up and down as he gestured a hand at her face.

Ladybug flushed, already wishing that she could swing her way out of this situation. She was stopped, however, by a hand on hers. Blinking down at it, she heard Adrien’s sweet voice murmur quietly, “Hey, it’s alright. Vincent can be a little difficult to work with. I suggest trying to look at the camera like it’s your favorite food. That always helps me.”

She giggled, immediately feeling her heart flutter in her chest. Trust Adrien to always have the right thing to say at the right time. Ladybug whipped around in shock, however, when she heard the shutter of a camera.

“Oh no, no! That was perfetto! Go back to that! It had passion!” Vincent bobbed his head up and down eagerly.

With a sheepish grin, she turned to look back at Adrien, hoping that he didn’t mind. Obviously, this was perfect for her. She got the chance to stare at his beautiful face without making a complete fool of herself. However, looking at him caused her heart to thump even more. Adrien was blushing. His cheeks a very faint pink as he gazed at her adoringly.

Ladybug felt her own face flame at that look. It’s just for the cameras. He doesn’t mean anything by this, she reminded herself mentally. Sucking in a deep breath, she decided if Adrien was faking then she could let some of her own love show on her face. Maybe he’d think she was just a good actress. Ladybug couldn’t stop the small smile from spreading across her face as she peeked up at him from beneath her lashes. Butterflies fluttered in her chest as she gazed back at him just as adoringly.

There was no sound of encouragement or discouragement from the photographer. There was only the quiet sound of pictures being taken as he snapped photo after photo. After a while, he eventually murmured, “Perfetto! This was exactly what this photoshoot needed.”

Slowly and hesitantly, Ladybug moved her gaze away from Adrien’s as she stared back at Vincent. Giving him a shy smile, she asked, “Was that good? Am I free to go home now?”

“Yes, yes, of course.” He waved a hand in the air as he scrolled through the pictures in his camera.

Finally relaxing, she turned back to Adrien as she murmured, “Thanks for today, Adrien. I had a fun time being a model.”

Ladybug giggled and Adrien’s face lit up as he gazed at her. Eventually, he murmured back, “Me too. It’s not often that I enjoy my photoshoot but this one really was perfect. I hope we can maybe do this again sometime.”

“O-of course! I’d love to!”

Feeling brave, Ladybug swooped down and pressed a faint kiss to Adrien’s cheek. She didn’t wait to see his reaction before she whirled away on her yo-yo. It was time to get home, especially because her parents were probably missing her. She missed the soft look Adrien sent her as he cupped the cheek she had kissed, sighing after her.

Chapter Text

Adrien sighed, leaning his chin on his fist as he stared out the window of his limo. The scenes passed by in a blur as he sighed with boredom. Sometimes, it seemed like his life was just an array of endless photoshoots and fashion shows. He never got any freedom. Even the one time he attempted to sneak his way into school ended in disaster. His father had caught him and thwarted any attempt afterward.

Adrien’s bored gaze turned to a glare as he scowled at his reflection. Even now he was on his way to another fashion show his father demanded he participated in. The only thing Adrien was looking forward to was the fact that his father had ordered a new team of security detail after the last one had failed his test.

Teasing the security guards had always been fun for him. In fact, he was already thinking of some new pranks he could play on the unassuming team. It was the only thing that kept him entertained on boring days like today. Adrien even felt a small smile start to form as they pulled up to the entrance, feeling his bad mood begin to melt away.

Clearing his throat lightly, he waited for his door to be opened, struggling to keep the devilish smirk off his face. Any hint of a smile disappeared when the door did open, though. The very first thing he saw was a bright shade of blue. Strangely, his heart thumped and Adrien’s lips parted slightly as the pair of sapphire eyes blinked at him. The next thing he saw was a bright red and black polka-dotted mask that kept him from seeing more of her beautiful face. He could just barely see the slightest hint of freckles peeking out from the bottom of her mask.

The girl snapped out of their silent showdown first. She shook her head once quickly before holding out a hand to him. She beamed at him and Adrien’s heart thumped even more. His brow creased at that reaction, wondering just what was happening to him. Her sweet voice brought his attention back to her as she spoke up, “Hi, Adrien. I’m Ladybug and I’m the head of your new security detail.”

Ladybug. So her name was Ladybug. It certainly suited her, especially with the mask that, for some reason, he was itching to take off. Giving her a charming smile, he took her hand, his eyes widening in shock briefly as tingles raced up and down his palm. Adrien let go as soon as he had fully gotten out of the limo, massaging his hand lightly as he nodded at her. “It’s great to meet you, Ladybug.”

Was it just him or was there a pink flush to the part of her cheeks that he could see? That thought sent his heart racing in his chest even faster and, once again, he wondered why.

Ladybug then gave him a quick nod back before gesturing behind her. “These are my associates. Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.”

Curiously, all of the members of her team had masks of their own. Even curiouser, the blonde, Queen Bee looked very familiar. Adrien’s frown deepened as he tried to recall where he knew her when Ladybug began to lead him into the building, muttering about how she wasn’t going to be late on the first day.

He shot her an amused look as she grumbled to herself, letting her lead him. All of his previous plans to tease and taunt her faded from his mind. After all, he could always wait to put them into action. Right now, Ladybug and her quiet mumbles were the only thoughts he had. Adrien barely even recognized the other members of the team behind them. He simply continued to stare after the girl in front of him, watching as her dark pigtails bobbed whenever she walked.

He was definitely going to have fun getting to know her. Already, she had turned his boring, uneventful day into a whirlwind. And maybe, just maybe, he might be able to learn more about the girl underneath the mask.

Chapter Text

“Hold me, Ladybug, please,” Adrien whimpers, looking up at her with a pair of sad green eyes. Tears billowed in them as he stared up at her. “Just please.”

Ladybug felt her own eyes water as she hugged him to her desperately. She rubbed his back gently as she whispered, “It’s alright, Adrien. It’s going to be alright.”

It wasn’t going to be alright.

His sobs wracked his body and she choked right along with him, fighting the urge to cry herself. It had been a long day. But, the battle was over. The fight with Hawkmoth was finished. She sucked in a harsh gulp of air as she watched the police lead the man into a squad car. Of all the outcomes she had pictured on a day like today, Ladybug had never imagined it would have been this sad.

Hawkmoth’s defeat was supposed to be euphoric. She and Chat should have been celebrating, basking in the fact that there would be no more akumas. Instead, her partner was sobbing in her arms about how not just one, but two of his parental figures had been set on destroying Paris. How could she have ever known that Hawkmoth would be Adrien’s father?

Sure, she had suspicions in the past but they were quickly brushed aside by the fact that it couldn’t be him. How could they do this to Adrien? A new set of tears began to build up in her eyes as he buried his head in her shoulder. Ladybug clenched her eyes shut against the new wave of emotion, clutching Adrien to her tightly. How could this have happened? What could she possibly do to make anything better?

Her gaze fluttered open only to be drawn to the Lucky Charm that was still sitting on the ground uselessly. Not even that would be enough to save this day. Ladybug tightened her embrace on Adrien once again, placing her head on top of his as she tried to pour as much love and comfort into him as she could.

The two stayed like that for a while, just enjoying the other’s presence as they fought against the rising tide of sadness. Eventually, Adrien sucked in a shaky breath, leaning away from her as he wiped some of the tears off of his eyes. Sniffling quietly, he said, “Thank you, Ladybug.”

She shook her head slowly, feeling her lower lip quivering. “You have nothing to thank me for, Adrien.”

“Yes, I do,” he gave her a soft, weak smile as he gestured around them. “You saved the day once again.”

“We,” Ladybug spoke determinedly. “We saved the day once again. We’re a team, Adrien. Always. So I’m always going to have your back. No matter what.”

He sniffled again, his gaze on hers almost adoring before he a small frown settled between his brows again. She clenched her fists, wishing that she never had to see that look on Adrien’s face again. He sighed quietly, glancing away from her as he muttered, “I don’t know where to go now.”

Ladybug’s eyes widened before an idea popped into her head. “You can stay with me!”

He blinked at her before worrying his lower lip with his teeth. “I-I don’t know, Ladybug. That’s a lot to ask of you. Plus, we don’t even know how your parents will react.”

“Oh, that’ll be fine. My parents love you.” She waved him off, giving him a small grin.

Adrien’s green eyes popped open with shock as he gaped at her. He gestured between the two of them as he stuttered out, “D-does that mean... that I-I, um, err, know you?”

Ladybug’s own lips parted as she realized one fundamental thing. Adrien still didn’t know her identity. She hadn’t detransformed in the battle yet and her earrings beeped a reminder that she was still on a timer. Nodding her head, she pushed herself up hurriedly. “Yes, you know me very well. In fact, you’ve been to my house quite a few times.”

Her lips quirked as she recalled his visits to her room as Chat. The amount of hours they’d stay up playing video games and watching TV shows was too many to count. Going over to her lucky charm, she threw it up into the air, shouting, “Miraculous Ladybug!”

The words felt slightly hollow in her chest as it repaired all the physical damage of their recent battle. Her heart stuttered in her chest as she peeked back over at Adrien, staring solemnly at the sullen boy. With a heavy sigh, Ladybug realized it was going to take a lot more than a Lucky Charm to fix the pain he was currently feeling.

Sucking in a deep breath, she held a hand out to him, tugging him close to her as she twirled the yo-yo in her hand. Quickly, Ladybug swung the two of them away from the scene, hoping to leave behind some of the sorrow of that now empty mansion. With her destination clear in her mind, she headed for her balcony, her earrings giving another warning beep.

Dropping him off onto her rooftop, she gave him a small grin as she waited for the realization to kick in. Instead, Adrien’s gaze turned slightly confused and he raised an eyebrow at her. “This is Marinette’s balcony. Did you need to stop and recharge before we continue?”

Slowly, Ladybug shook her head at him. “Nope, we’re here.”

Those were the last words she uttered before her earrings beeped one last time and a flash of pink light left her standing as Marinette. She waved at him shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before she turned and fed a cookie to Tikki. Her kwami hummed at her thankfully before a whirl of black sped out of Adrien’s pocket to hover next to Tikki.

“Well, I’m glad that’s over with,” Plagg rolled his eyes, crossing his arms across his chest. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting for this? It was exhausting.”

“Hush, Plagg,” Tikki shushed him, glaring at the cat next to her. “Can’t you see they’re having a moment?”

Adrien and Marinette both turn to each other with wide eyes before bursting out with laughter. For the first time that day, she felt light and giddy especially as Adrien’s smile grew even wider. If only she could pause this moment forever. Just to keep them happy and grinning for the rest of time.

It was Adrien who broke first, gazing at her happily as he murmured, “I had always hoped it was you, Marinette. But after Kwami Buster I was pretty sure that I would never get this lucky. I’m assuming that was another one of your clever plans?”

She flushed at his praise, nibbling on her lip as she shifted nervously. Nodding her head, she gave him a small smile. “Yeah, I used pretty much every kwami for that fight, so making an illusion with Trixx was pretty simple.”

“Right, of course.” He nodded his head thoughtfully.

“And where was your clever plan?” Marinette cocked her head to the side as she gave him a small smirk. “Calling our school an elementary school was your entire thought process?”

“Hey! It worked didn’t it!” Adrien pouted, his lower lip jutting out.

Good. If she could just keep him distracted for the rest of time, maybe she could forget about the fact that just a few minutes ago he was sobbing in her arms. Unfortunately, though, they did need to talk. Especially to her parents who were probably still worried about her. Heaving a quiet sigh, she nodded her head down at her trapdoor. “Are you ready to go in?”

“Yeah,” Adrien gazed at her softly before taking her hand with his. “I think I’d always be ready if you were the one by my side.”

Marinette felt her lip quiver at that before she squeezed his hand. Giving him a thankful nod, she led the two of them down her hatch, ready to start their talk with her parents.

Chapter Text

Adrien nervously ran a hand through his blonde hair. He peered back at himself in his bathroom mirror anxiously, searching for anything out of place. It was movie night with Ladybug and he needed to look perfect for her. Plagg snickered nearby him and he glared at the kwami. “What’s so funny?” Adrien asked, pursing his lips with annoyance.

“You,” Plagg shot him a smirk. “You’re so worked up and Ladybug isn’t even here yet.”

“Shut up,” he muttered, his lips twisting to the side. Turning back to the mirror one last time, he adjusted his outfit, hoping that he wasn’t missing something. When he was certain that everything was in place, he tossed Plagg a piece of cheese before heading out of the bathroom. Carefully, Adrien scrutinized the snacks on the table, making certain that everything was perfect once again.

It was then that he heard the small tap on the window. His head whipped up excitedly and it was then that he saw Ladybug. She was hanging outside his window with a small, sweet smile on her face. Her hand was up in a wave as her blue eyes twinkled at him in the starlight. Quickly, Adrien gave her a bright grin before opening up the window so that she could come in.

“Hey, Adrien,” Ladybug started, tucking a stray strand of hair back behind her ear. “Are you excited for movie night?”

“Always!” Adrien beamed at her before gesturing to the couch. “Feel free to sit down, of course. I hope I got all of the snacks that we needed.”

Her mouth dropped open as she gaped at the array of food on the table. Turning to him with a pair of wide eyes, she said, “Adrien, you didn’t need to do all of this! Movie night is supposed to be just simple and carefree.”

“I know,” he shifted on his feet. “But I wanted to do something special tonight. Plus, it didn’t take me that long to set up.”

Ladybug’s eyes softened as she looked at him. Quickly, she pressed a kiss to his cheek, murmuring, “Well, regardless, it was very sweet of you to do all of this. Even if it wasn’t necessary.”

A blush spread across his cheeks and Adrien lifted a hand to cup the spot she had just kissed. Beaming at her, he said, “Thanks, Ladybug. I’m really glad you like it.”

“You’re welcome, Adrien. And thank you for setting it all up.” She reached down, taking his hand in hers as she squeezed it lightly. Her smile turned a touch shy as she peeked up into his eyes from beneath her lashes. She really was beautiful.

Adrien intertwined their fingers together before leading her over to the couch. He had already set up the TV to start the movie that they had chosen for tonight. Ladybug sent him a fond look when she noticed and he practically beamed with pride. Whatever little things he could do to keep her happy, he would. She deserved the world.

When they sat down together, he realized something critically important. Ladybug was still holding his hand. Neither of them had let go in the past few minutes. Adrien’s blush turned darker as he stared down at them. How long could they really stay like this for? Daydreams of holding Ladybug’s hand for the rest of time popped into his mind and he squeezed it unconsciously.

Ladybug then looked down at their hands with surprise, quickly removing hers as her face lit up. She turned her gaze away from him as she stared firmly at the TV. “S-sorry,” she murmured, nibbling on her lower lip.

“N-no, don’t be sorry! I didn’t mind at all. Actually, it was kind of nice.” He flushed lightly, wondering why he had said that at all. Ladybug was going to think he was crazy. About to choke out an excuse, Adrien stopped when he saw her expression. She looked shocked but there was a determined glint to her eyes that he typically only saw during a tough akuma attack. With her face a bright red, she reached out, her arm a red blur as she took his hand back in hers.

Ladybug didn’t say anything after that and simply kept her gaze focused on the television in front of them. Adrien felt butterflies soar in his chest as he realized that she had done that on purpose. Ladybug wanted to hold his hand. His lips twitched with pride before he reached for the remote, turning the movie on.

Like most of their movie nights, though, his attention was more focused on the girl sitting next to him than on the TV. She was just so perfect and beautiful. How could he focus on the movie when she was sitting next to him? Everything else just seemed to pale in comparison to the sound of her delightful laughter. If only movie night could last forever. Adrien would kill to spend a lifetime here, just holding onto his lady’s hand as they watched a movie together.

Sneaking a quick peek at her out of the corner of his eye, he stared longingly at her perfect smile. That smile should be on her face every day, especially if he was the cause of it. His chest swelled with pride as he gazed back at her. Maybe Adrien could suggest that they have movie nights more often so that he could see her even more. Patrols, akuma attacks, and the occasional movie just weren’t enough for him.

So focused on Ladybug, he barely noticed when the movie ended and the credits began to play. It was only when she let go of his hand to clap that he realized. Feeling bereft of her warmth, Adrien sighed quietly as he clapped too.

“That was such a good movie, Adrien!” Ladybug turned over to beam at him. “Thank you for picking it out!”

“No problem.” He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck as he grinned at her awkwardly. Well, at least she liked the movie. Maybe he could rewatch it and actually pay attention next time so that he would have more to talk about when he saw her again.

“Ready for the next one?” She nodded excitedly, reaching for a piece of popcorn as she popped it into her mouth.

Adrien gave her an easy smile before putting on the next movie. “Always, Ladybug.”

Leaning back in his seat, he placed his arm over her own seat as he started their next movie. Hopefully, Ladybug would like this one as well. Plus, maybe he could actually pay more attention this time. Either way, he was very content with the idea of spending more time with Ladybug. And maybe, just maybe, he could convince her to stay forever.

Chapter Text

Adrien waited nearby his window nervously, practically squirming with nervous excitement as he waited for Ladybug to appear. It was finally date night. A way to spend even more time with her than he did already. When she did finally swing through his window, he pounced.

“Caught you,” Adrien whispered into Ladybug’s ear rather cheekily. A wide grin was on his lips as he covered her eyes with his hands. His chest puffed with pride as he realized that he finally caught her by surprise. Plus, she was once again in his arms after so long. There were no akuma attacks and no guardian duties that she had to go run off to. It was just him and her, alone together at long last. He wished futilely that they could just stay like this forever. A moment frozen in history where they were both deliriously happy.

“Did you now?” Ladybug laughed happily before turning around and planting a quick peck on his lips. He practically melted at the feeling, giving her a goofy smile as his hands fell back down to his sides. “Because I think it’s pretty obvious that I actually caught you,” she said with a small smirk, a hand on her hip.

Adrien scrunched his face up with a light chuckle. After a while, he eventually murmured, “You’ve actually caught me for a while now.”

Her smirk faded as her mouth dropped open in an expression of awe. Her blue eyes twinkled at him before she threw her arms around him in a tight hug. “It’s the same for me too, you know,” she whispered. “I’ve always been yours.”

His heart pounded in his chest at her words. Sometimes it amazed even him that he had managed to enter into a relationship with such an amazing girl. He still couldn’t believe that they both had feelings for the other. With a quiet hum, Adrien leaned in and pressed another quick kiss onto her lips. Ladybug grinned into their kiss, wrapping her arms around his shoulders as she deepened it.

When he finally pulled back for air, she gave him another small smile. “Are you ready to go?”

Ladybug gestured out the window and Adrien immediately nodded, practically diving into her arms as he cuddled close to her. She grinned down at him before taking off into the night sky. The wind whizzed by the two of them as he buried his head in her shoulder even more, using the cold as an excuse to cling to her even tighter. This was always his favorite part of their little journeys, just being in Ladybug’s arms. It was always so warm and safe. For once he felt home. Wasn’t that an odd thought? He felt more at home in Ladybug’s arms than in the bedroom that he just left.

When they finally touched down on the rooftop that she had set up for them, Adrien immediately wished that he could be back in her arms, feeling cold and lonely at once. Those feelings all fell away once he realized where they were though. It was the same rooftop he had shown her before during the Glaciator attack. Plus, there were candles set up all around them, which also struck him as very reminiscent of that night. Of course, she didn’t know that he knew all about that.

“Do you like it?” Ladybug asked nervously, nibbling on her bottom lip as she peeked up at him anxiously. “It’s not too much, is it?”

“No,” Adrien said breathily, shaking his head. “Ladybug, this is absolutely gorgeous. I can’t believe you did all of this for us.”

Her cheeks lit up as she ducked her head down shyly. “I wanted it to be special,” she murmured, gesturing between the two of them. “Since we’re usually both so busy.”

He took her hands in his, squeezing them gently before bringing them up so that he could brush a kiss on both of them. Adrien beamed at her, pouring as much love and adoration into his expression as he could. “Thank you, Ladybug. Seriously.”

“You’re welcome, Adrien. I’m glad you like it.” Her eyes sparkled at him underneath the moonlight and he felt his heart thump loudly in his chest. Cupping her cheeks, he pulled her into another perfect kiss. Shivers raced up and down his spine as Ladybug ran her fingers through his hair, nibbling on his lips.

Never, in a million years, had Adrien ever thought that he would get this lucky. Here he was, on the exact rooftop that he had taken her to so long ago, finally able to kiss her and hold her in his arms. There was nothing about this situation that he would change.

Leaning back, he pressed his forehead against hers, sucking in a deep breath of air. After catching his breath, he finally murmured with a small smirk on his face. “Has your boyfriend ever told you that you’re a fantastic kisser?”

Ladybug blinked for a second, puzzled by his words before she threw her head back in a loud laugh. Giving him her own smirk, she tapped her chin in thought. “You know, I don’t think he ever has.”

“Well, he definitely should,” Adrien chuckled. “Because you’re a fantastic kisser.”

“I’ll be sure to let him know you said that.” She snickered, her lips twitching mischievously.

“Maybe you shouldn’t say that. I’ve heard that your boyfriend is the jealous type.”

Ladybug raised an eyebrow at him as her smile remained across her face. “Oh, is he now?”

“Yes,” Adrien nodded his head solemnly. “Painfully so.”

She rolled her eyes at him fondly before leaning back in for another kiss. He practically sank into her embrace as she tilted her head, nibbling on his bottom lip. Adrien would kill for more stolen moments exactly like this. If only Hawkmoth didn’t exist. Then he and Ladybug could do this daily. One day, he reminded himself. One day they would both know each other’s identities and he could spend even more time with the girl who had stolen his heart. The moon and stars may have been sparkling above them, but right now he only had eyes for her.

Chapter Text

Marinette gaped down at the soulmark on her wrist. It was official. Adrien Agreste really was her soulmate. On her wrist was the little image of a black umbrella. The same black umbrella that he had shared with her all of those years ago. She glanced over to her closet with a fond look, her memories of standing with Adrien in the rain all came flooding back to her. Tracing the black umbrella on her wrist unseeingly, she then gazed up at Tikki with a happy smile.

Her kwami whizzed over to her, gasping when she saw the soulmark. Tikki then hugged her cheek tightly, the happiness clear in her voice as she said, “Congratulations, Marinette! I always knew it would work out between the two of you.”

“Thanks, Tikki!” She beamed back at her kwami as she cupped her to her cheek. After a few moments, Marinette stepped out of the embrace, tapping her earrings cheekily. “Plus, I already know who Adrien’s soulmate is. He came to school with a little ladybug on the back of his neck a few days ago. I couldn’t dare to hope back then... but now that I know for sure...”

It was almost impossible for Marinette to truly contain her excitement. She really was Adrien’s soulmate. Bouncing on her toes eagerly, she stared at Tikki rather desperately, hoping that her kwami would understand.

Tikki rolled her eyes even as a small grin remained on her face. “And now you want to go over and see him.”

“Please.” She held up her hands pleadingly as she looked at her kwami rather pitifully. She simply needed to see Adrien. Especially now that she knew that they were destined to fall in love with each other. Suddenly her future with him seemed a lot more clear and a lot less uncertain. Marinette could practically see Emma, Louis, and Hugo already.

“Alright, you can go.” Tikki eventually sighed.

Squealing happily, she gave her kwami another small hug before she called on her transformation, turning into Ladybug. In a flash of pink light, she quickly raced out of her bedroom, one destination clear in her mind. She arrived outside of Adrien’s window quicker than she had expected. Deciding that it must have been her desire to see him that got her moving so fast, Ladybug tapped on his window.

She watched as Adrien immediately jumped up, coming over to unlock the window for her. He stared at her with confusion, an eyebrow raised adorably. “Ladybug, what are you doing here?”

“Could I come in?” Ladybug asked shyly, peering at his emerald green eyes as she was suddenly hit with a desire to see his soulmark. Just one more time, she thought. Just to reassure myself that it really is me.

He blinked in shock before he opened the window even wider, gesturing for her to come inside. “O-of course,” he stuttered, “Feel free.”

“Thanks,” she murmured. Hopping inside, she took a few careful steps forward before she turned back around, catching a brief glimpse of a ladybug before Adrien faced her again. Feeling butterflies in her chest, she realized that she was correct. They were soulmates. Unable to contain herself any longer, Ladybug blurted out. “I think we’re soulmates!”

Adrien’s mouth fell open and he slapped a hand onto the back of his neck. He rubbed it as he gaped at her like he couldn’t quite believe her words. She blushed, shifting on her feet as she couldn’t stop herself from tracing her own soulmark underneath her suit. It almost burned under her fingers, like it knew that she was in the presence of her soulmate. With a small grin, she gestured over at him. “You have a ladybug on the back of your neck, don’t you?”

“H-how did you...?” Adrien asked, whipping his hand like it just burned him.

“I just saw it a few moments ago,” Ladybug giggled lightly. And, perhaps I stared at it a few times too many in class, she added in her head. Lifting her hand up from where it was tracing her umbrella, she gestured at her wrist. “And my soulmark is about you, too.”

He scanned her eyes, practically choking as he asked, “A-are you serious?”

She simply nodded her head before worrying on her lower lip. “Unless I got it wrong... if you had someone else in mind, I’m so sorry.”

“No, no, no!” Adrien rushed over to her, taking her hands in his as he squeezed them tightly. “I was hoping... praying it was you. I never thought it actually was, though. I still can’t believe I’m this lucky.”

Ladybug giggled again, her smile beaming across her face. “Neither can I, actually. I never thought that you’d be my soulmate. Especially because I’ve been crushing on you for so long.”

His eyes bulged out of his head as he gasped. “Why didn’t you ever say anything?! I’ve probably liked you for just as long!”

She choked, her heart stuttering in her chest as Adrien admitted that he liked her. Leaning forward, she quickly captured his lips in hers. Her wrist tingled pleasantly at their kiss, her soulmark feeling almost warm as their lips moved together. Ladybug’s hands dove into his hair as she felt almost dizzy. She was so giddy that she could hardly believe that this was actually happening. If only she could go back and time and tell her younger self that all of those years crushing on Adrien would be worth it. Pulling back, she rested her forehead on his as she murmured, “Was that ok?”

“Ladybug, that was absolutely perfect. I have wanted to do that for so long. I’m still having a hard time believing this is real. In fact, are you sure I’m not still asleep, dreaming?” Adrien asked, one eyebrow raised as he chuckled.

“If you are then I am too,” Ladybug laughed. “And if I am, feel free to not wake me up.”

He hummed quietly. “Me too.”

She was able to giggle once more before Adrien leaned forward and stole yet another kiss from her. Sighing quietly into his lips, she melted into his embrace, thanking the universe for giving her a small, black umbrella as a soulmark.

Chapter Text

“I can’t believe how many hobbies you have,” Ladybug said, rather awestruck as she listened to Adrien play the piano. “You have so many and you’re good at every single one of them.”

“I wouldn’t say that.” He stopped his playing to rub the back of his neck shyly.

She blinked her eyes at him with shock. Her jaw dropped open before she shook her head roughly. “I refuse to believe that. You’re a famous model, you’re great at fencing, can play the piano, and you know how to speak Mandarin. That’s amazing, Adrien. You should be proud of it.”

He chuckled rather sheepishly, a pink flush to his cheeks as he ducked his head down. Quietly, he murmured, “Thanks, Ladybug.”

Beaming at him, she nudged his shoulder with hers. “No problem, Adrien.”

He resumed his playing and Ladybug swayed along to the gentle melody, humming softly. After a few moments, she snuck a glance over to the boy sitting next to her. His cheeks still had a soft, rosy glow to them and she felt her own face warm in return. Adrien was so adorable, and he didn’t even realize it. Seeing him blush always made her heart pound loudly. The fact that she was able to get him flustered always felt like such an accomplishment.

He turned his head and met her gaze, making her face turn an even deeper red. She glanced away, embarrassed at having been caught staring when Adrien stopped playing. He cleared his throat before asking, “What kind of hobbies do you have?”

Ladybug froze. What could she possibly say to answer his question? If she revealed the truth would he figure her out? If she lied would he know? The possibility of Adrien knowing she lied to him broke her heart too much. Shifting on the small seat awkwardly, she eventually spoke hesitantly, “W-well, in my free time I usually design things.”

“Really?” Adrien tilted his head as he looked at her. She felt bare as he stared at her as though he were deep in thought. He tapped his chin before humming. “I have a friend who designs things too. She’s usually more focused on fashion and designing clothes, is that what you do too?”

Ladybug laughed awkwardly, wincing at how shrill it sounded. Coughing lightly to keep herself from screeching anymore, she gave him a small smile. “W-what a coincidence. Y-yeah, I like fashion and design clothes too.”

Why had she told the truth? Adrien was going to figure out her identity so easily now. Tikki was going to kill her and then the apocalypse was going to start after Chat finds out and he was going to get himself akumatized again. Plus, she won’t even be able to free him this time because Tikki would have already killed her. Her hands itched to slap her forehead, but she quelled the urge. Clenching her fists together, she tried to keep the weak smile on her face from forming into a grimace.

Eventually, after a few brief, tense moments, Adrien eventually nodded, giving her his own charming grin. “You’d probably like my friend, then.”

His eyes sparkled almost knowingly and she couldn’t stop herself from wincing again. Any second now he was going to reveal that he knew she was Marinette. The moment never came though, and the look disappeared, replaced by a puzzled expression as he lifted an eyebrow.

Breathing a quiet sigh of relief that maybe her identity wasn’t completely compromised, Ladybug bobbed her head up and down. “Yes! They certainly sound like a great friend!”

“Yeah,” Adrien murmured, glancing away from her as he stared off into the distance. “Marinette’s great.”

She practically melted at that little confession. He thought she was great. How could one boy be so sweet? Ladybug blushed, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she said, “I’m glad you think so.”

That seemed to shock Adrien out of his haze and he whipped his head back to her, clearing his throat as he gave her a small smile. Shaking his head, he looked down at the piano. “Sorry, I must have gotten a little distracted. Now, where were we?”

His hands fluttered over the keys with practiced ease and once again the melodious music began to play. Sighing adoringly, Ladybug listened to him play again, unable to stop herself from sneaking a few, quick peeks at him as she did so. Her eyes fluttered closed eventually and she sank into the music, content to stay here forever.

Chapter Text

Ladybug narrowed her eyes as she glared at the villain in front of her. It was a girl dressed in pink and white, a pair of giant, bright red scissors in her hand as she smirked at Ladybug. The akumatized girl lifted her head up, her smirk growing wider as she sliced the air with her scissors. “Nice of you to finally join us, Ladybug! I was just wondering when the little bug would get here!”

Her gaze narrowed even more before she scanned the skies, searching for her partner. Seeing no sign of him, she tightened her grip on her yo-yo, ready to start swinging it in front of her when the girl had attacked. Ladybug also snuck a quick look behind her, making certain that Adrien was still safely protected. With an exhale of relief, she quickly snapped her head back to the girl just as she pointed her pair of scissors at her. The girl practically shook with outrage as she screeched, “I’ll take your love away! Just like you took mine away!”

Ladybug winced, remembering how intent the villain had been when she shouted at Adrien, claiming he was her soulmate, her one true love. Obviously, she couldn’t have left him with her, so she had swooped Adrien up, taking him far away. It hadn’t been far enough, though, as the akumatized girl seemed to have caught up with them easily. Sucking in a deep breath, Ladybug scanned their surroundings for an exit once again, hoping that she could get Adrien to safety before starting this fight.

She didn’t work fast enough, though. The girl swung her scissors back and before Ladybug could even begin to start spinning her yo-yo, she brought the scissors back down, a bright beam of red light shooting at her. She stumbled back, clenching her eyes as she prepared for the pain to hit. However, it never came. Blinking her eyes open, she saw the girl frozen in shock, her face contorting as numerous emotions flashed across her face. Ladybug frowned in confusion before she followed the villain’s gaze down to her hand.

She gasped with shock when she saw what the akumatized girl had. There was a tiny, red string wrapped around her pinky finger. What was even more surprising was that the string led to something. Or, well, someone. Her red string was connected to Adrien. He seemed just as in awe as she did, gaping down at the string on his own pinky finger. They both lifted their heads up at the same time, their gazes meeting as understanding flashed behind both of their eyes. This was the red string of fate. The string that connected two people who were destined to meet. No matter what.

Ladybug’s heart pounded in her chest as she stared back at Adrien’s sparkling green eyes. Could it really mean what she thought it meant? Unfortunately, the villain’s voice broke through their little moment and Ladybug whipped her gaze back around to stare at her. The girl screeched, “It’s not possible! Adrien was meant to be mine! You can’t have him! I’ll break that string just like I broke the others!”

The villain rushed towards them, brandishing her scissors like a sword as she screamed with rage. Ladybug immediately jumped into action, reacting quicker than she would have thought possible. But she needed to keep Adrien safe. Flinging her arms out, she wrapped him to her tightly, swinging her yo-yo to block the pair of scissors. Throwing the girl backwards, she turned quickly, flinging them both off of the rooftop as she decided it was time to get as far away from her as possible.

Ladybug flew from the air as fast as she could, not even spending the time to glance behind her to see if the akumatized villain was following them. Adrien’s face was buried in her shoulder as the wind swirled around them. She could barely even feel the cold, though. The only thing she cared about at the moment was getting Adrien to safety.

After a while, she eventually did chance a quick glance over her shoulder. Seeing no signs that they were being followed, Ladybug breathed a sigh of relief. It was only a few more minutes after that when she eventually set the two of them down in a quiet alleyway. With a small gulp, she set Adrien down on her feet, unable to keep her eyes from staring at the red string that was still wrapped around their pinky fingers.

“Pretty cool, isn’t it?” Adrien spoke up and she immediately brought her wide eyes up to meet his. They were sparkling at her mischievously as a happy grin was on his lips.

Ladybug immediately blushed, snapping her head to the side as she avoided his gaze. Shifting on her feet, she stared steadfastly at the wall in front of her. Clearing her throat, she eventually nodded her head slowly. “Y-yeah, I-I didn’t know this was even real. I thought it was just a myth.”

“So did I,” he said and she felt a tug on her string. Tilting her head with confusion, she turned her head back to stare down at the simple thing. Adrien was playing with it, his smile turning more adoring the more he stared down at it. “I can’t believe it’s you that I’m connected to.”

Her blush turned ever darker before she nibbled her lip. Tapping her two index fingers together, she murmured, “Neither can I.”

It was almost like a dream come true. Knowing that she was attached to Adrien like this. How could something like this even be possible? Could it be that she really was his soulmate?

“I can actually feel that,” Adrien whispered with awe clear in his voice.

“Sorry,” Ladybug immediately stopped tapping her fingers together, barely even aware that she had started doing it. It had become such a habit that she didn’t even think about the string that was still wrapped around her finger.

“No, no,” he shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck as she felt another tug on her own string. “Don’t be sorry. It was kind of nice, actually.”

Biting her lip shyly, she peeked up at him from beneath her lashes. “Yeah?” she asked quietly.

“Mhm,” Adrien hummed lightly, rocking back on his heels as he continued to smile at her.

Her face warmed even more before she began to hear screams nearby where they were. Ladybug snapped back to attention fast, placing her hands on his shoulders as she jerked her head out of the alleyway. “Do you think you’ll be safe here? I really need to go and take care of this.”

“Oh, of course!” He bobbed his head up and down. “I’ll make sure she doesn’t find me.”

“Good.” She gave him one last, quick grin before turning around, ready to race out of the alleyway.

She was stopped by a hand on her wrist, however. With a small frown, she turned around to look back at Adrien curiously. His cheeks looked slightly flushed before he gestured down to the red string connecting them. “J-just make certain that she doesn’t cut it, okay. O-or if she does, bring it back with your Lucky Charm.”

“Of course,” Ladybug replied, feeling butterflies flutter to life in her stomach. He wanted to keep their connection. Her fingers itched to pull on it one more time, eager to see if it was still there.

“A-and do you think you could stop by later tonight? Just to talk about everything?” Adrien asked nervously, his pink cheeks turning red.

Instead of responding, she simply nodded her head, terrified that a garbled mess of excitement would come out. Sucking in a deep breath of courage, Ladybug threw her yo-yo, tugging herself out of the alleyway as she was filled with determination. She was going to finish this akuma soon. She really wanted to have that talk with Adrien.

Chapter Text

Ladybug was struck speechless. Her eyes widened considerably and she stumbled back a few steps, almost falling off the rooftop they were on top of. Shaking slightly, she brought her hand up to cover her mouth. Standing in front of her was Adrien when, only minutes ago, Chat Noir had been standing in her place. She would never have even believed it possible if she hadn’t witnessed him detransform herself.

They had decided that with Ladybug as the guardian it only made sense for her to know Chat’s identity. At the time, she had thought it through with a clear, level head. After all, it only made sense for her to know. What if Plagg got sick or there was another situation like Optigami where Chat got stuck outside? But she had never even imagined that her partner would be Adrien, the love of her life. Adrien who she had been turning down from the very beginning. It took everything in her to not slap a palm to her forehead.

“L-Ladybug?” Adrien asked hesitantly, his hand coming up to scratch the back of his neck. “A-are you okay? Y-you’re not mad that it’s me... are you?”

She frowned almost immediately, shaking her head so quickly she was surprised that it didn’t fly off. “No, no! Of course not, Adrien. I-I’m mad at myself for not figuring out that it was you sooner. I should have known or at least noticed!”

He exhaled with relief, his tense shoulders immediately relaxing as he chuckled. Twirling with the ring on his finger, Adrien murmured, “Well, that’s good. I suppose that means I did a good job at hiding my secret identity.”

Ladybug’s gaze softened as she stared at him happily. Nodding her head slowly, she spoke up, “Yes, you did a very good job, Adrien. Especially considering that you’re a celebrity in both forms.”

His mouth popped open in surprise as he blinked at her. She wondered if she said something before he shook it off. “Yeah, I honestly hadn’t realized that you were going to look so shocked when I detransformed. I really thought I had done something wrong.”

“No, never,” she shook her head again, hoping to reassure him. “You did everything right. So right, in fact, that I even chose you to be my partner again. Do you remember Aspik?”

Adrien flushed, a shy smile on his face as he glanced away from her. “I remember. I-I didn’t want to let you down.”

Butterflies swarmed in her chest and she needed to remind herself that she couldn’t freak out here. She was Ladybug, not Marinette. So what if the boy she had been crushing on for ages turned out to be the same boy who flirted with her any chance he got? If she started stuttering and stammering now, he’d know for sure who she was.

Clearing her throat, Ladybug shifted on her feet, placing a hand on his shoulder. He snapped his head back to hers, his glimmering, green eyes meeting her blue ones. Her face warmed but she still squeezed his shoulder. “And you didn’t. We never would have won that fight without Chat Noir and that wasn’t your fault.”

“Thanks, Ladybug.”

It got quiet after that. The two of them simply stared into each other’s eyes, as though they expected the other to step back first. She didn’t want to let him go, though. Her hand tingled pleasantly on his shoulder and she almost wished that she could detransform so that they could be even closer.

Unfortunately, however, their moment was interrupted by a scoff. Immediately, Ladybug scrambled back and away, her eyes wide as she tried to figure out how a civilian got on a rooftop. The sound of someone clearing their throat broke her out of her panic and her gaze shot up to stare at Plagg. There was a knowing smirk on his face as he looked at her before he turned to whine at Adrien, “Now that you two have finally snapped out of your little love-fest can I please have my cheese now?”

Adrien turned a deep shade of red, glaring up at the kwami as he snapped, “It wasn’t a... nevermind.”

He sighed, reaching into his jacket to grab a piece of cheese. He quickly threw it up into the air and she watched with both awe and horror as Plagg devoured the whole piece of cheese in one bite. Quietly, she murmured, “Wow.”

Adrien turned back to her, his cheeks still bright red as he gestured up at his kwami. “I’m sorry about him. He can be a little demanding.”

Ladybug’s lips stretched into a smile as she giggled loudly. Nodding her head at his jacket, she asked amusedly, “Do you usually keep cheese in your pocket like that?”

“Most of the time, yes. Plagg can get pretty hungry.” He lifted a finger up, scratching the kwami’s chin as Plagg purred. She cooed with awe, watching the two adoringly.

Of course it was Adrien who was able to keep Plagg’s chaotic tendencies somewhat under control. She couldn’t think of anyone better for the job. God, how had she never figured it out before? It just seemed so obvious now that she knew.

With a small chuckle, Ladybug nodded her head at the two of them. “You know, I was pretty nervous before but I’m really glad we did this. I think this information is really going to help us in the future. Especially now that I can help you transform in peace.”

“Yeah?” Adrien asked, beaming at her happily.

“Mhm,” she hummed, giving him her own smile in return. “And I’m really glad it’s you, Adrien. I couldn’t imagine anyone better for the job.”

He puffed his chest out with pride before bowing low and deep as he winked at her. “I’m glad that you still trust me with this, m’lady.”

Flushing adorably, Ladybug giggled happily. He was so sweet. And maybe, maybe after everything was over, and if Adrien still had feelings for her... maybe then they really could finally be together. Leaning forward, she brushed a small kiss on his cheek. Then, with a devilish smirk, she whispered, “First one to the Eiffel Tower wins.”

With a mischievous chuckle, Ladybug swung her yo-yo, already on her way to the landmark. She heard an indignant shout behind her but she kept going, ready to win once again.
