Dangerous secret

Summary:

Max climbs into Mike's window at night.

Notes:

Hey! So I'm writing this new book for someone who had requested it and it's taking a little longer than expected! So while you wait here's some good old Max and Mike friendship

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Mike woke up to a loud crash. He turned on his night light and looked at the now open window. A tiny redhead was laying face first on his floor. She got up, closing the window. "Max what?"

"Heya best friend! Sorry didn't mean to wake you!"

"Best f- are you high?"

"What, no! A girl can't say hi to her best friend anymore."

"Since when ar- your eye."

"Oh this? It's not that bad!"

"Not that bad?! You're bleeding!"

"And dizzy, move over."

Max shoved him, sitting next to him. He ended up on the floor. Mike got up and picked Max up, setting her on a chair. "Stay here, I'm gonna go get some stuff to help okay?"

He made his way to the door. "Mike! Can you bring chocolate milk?" She asked, trying to give him puppy dog eyes. He smiled, "of course."

Mike walked downstairs, going to the bathroom first. He found the first aid kit and walked to the kitchen, getting Max a glass of chocolate milk.

When he walked back upstairs Max was already fast asleep in the chair. Mike smiled softly and put the glass on his dresser. He cleaned her up, careful not to hurt her or wake her up, then laied her in his bed. He covered her and kissed her forehead. He walked to the door, going to sleep in the guest room.

Chapter 2

Chapter Text

Mike stormed into the family home video store. Robin was at the counter chewing gum while Steve was behind her. "Hey Mike! Wheres your gang?"

"Steve, I need you right now."

"What's going on?"

Robin looked between the two of them, scared out of her mind. "Are the monsters back," she said in a whisper. Mike shook his head, "no no don't worry, it's Max."

Steve stood up from his chair, grabbing his keys. "What happened, Wheeler?"

"She crawled through my window last night Steve. Black eye, split lip, split eyebrow, bloody nose, she looked like she was strangled. I would've went to Hop, but I needed a ride. I think her wrist was sprained too. She was talking in her sleep? She said he grabbed her by her hair and bashed her head in the wall many, many times. She said she could hear her skull moving. She needs a hospital I'm- is she gonna die?"

Robin looked up at the two boys, "did she throw up?"

"Um I think so?"

"Mike, please tell me you didn't let her go home."

"I couldn't! She wouldn't wake up." He could feel tears forming in his eyes. "I left her, I left her alone. She could choke! Please please we have to go, I need to get her to Hopper."

Robin walked around the counter, hugging him tightly while Steve called the ambulance. "They're on their way over there Mike, let's get to Hop mkay?"

"Today's his day off."

The three of them stood in front of Hoppers cabin. Mike did the secret knock. "Who is it?" A female voice called from inside. "It's Mike, Robin, and Steve!" Steve said, they then heard the door unlock. They ran in and El immediately went over to Mike, kissing him. "You weren't supposed to come over today, Hop and I-"

He pulled away from her. "Hop, where is he?"

"He's in his room wh-"

Mike walked past her as Robin and Steve argued over the keys. Robin won, driving as quick as possible to the Wheeler house. "HOP COME OUT," his voice was close to breaking.

Hopper walked out in his pajamas, "kid? What are you two doing here?" El stood behind him, confused out of her mind. "Max, she's getting abused at home-"

"WHAT," Both Hopper and El yelled at him.

"Hop it's really bad, please you gotta help her. Y-you gotta."

Hopper pulled Mike into a hug, letting the boy cry into his chest. El looked around the room tearing up herself. Steve pulled her into a hug, taking her to the livingroom.

"Please Hop, she's like a sister to me. I c-can't-"

"Don't worry kid, we're gonna help her."

"Don't send 'er away."

"I won't, I promise you.

The four of them got into Hoppers car, driving to the hospital. When they got there though, Neil was in Max's room pulling her hair and yelling at her. El tilted her head, forcing him to let go of her. Hopper stepped in before anything could get worse, "Neil Hargrove you are under arrest." He pulled Neil out of the room to give him a good 'talking to'.

"Mornin!" Max said as cheerfully as she could.

"Your living with me and Hop, no more pain."
