Chapter 1: The meeting
Chapter Text
She was hiding from her cousin once again. By now, he knew all her hiding places, but they were in a different country. Her aunt and uncle could not find someone to watch her, so they dragged her to a foreign country. She hoped being in a different country would mean she could escape. But that wasn’t meant to be; Dudley found her. He dragged her out by her hair and began to hit her repeatedly. She curled up into a tight ball in an attempt to protect her vital spots. It was then she heard a foreign language yell out. Suddenly the pain stopped. A boy with black hair and azure eyes was beating him up. It wasn’t long until he ran away, the boy lent her his hand. She flinched at first, but he just stood there. She took his hand after realizing he wouldn’t hurt her. There was a flash of light, and a mark appears on both their arms. Her’s a sword surrounded by the purest blue flame, and his a green triangle with a circle and a lightning bolt going down the center. The lighting seemed to be in the shape of my scar. He brightens up and immediately hugs me. She returned the hug, crying in disbelief.
‘I a freak a useless nobody had a soulmate.’
When they pulled away, he took a closer look at her, worry striking through his eyes.
“I didn’t realize how hurt you were. Can you walk? If not, I can carry you on my back. Dad will help you.” He said.
She gasped in shock
“I-I can understand you,” she said in amazement
“ I can understand you too it must because we’re soulmates!” He exclaimed.
“I guess so um I think I can walk how far is your home.”
“Not far.”
She walked behind him, trying not to whimper in pain.
He stopped and knelt to the ground holding his arms behind him.
“Come on, I’ll carry you back.”
She was too tired to argue, so she climbed onto his back. He started walking again and said
“My names Rin by the way, Rin Okumura. What about you.” Rin asked.
“M-my relatives call me freak, but the teachers say my names, Persephone Potter.” She replied
“I don’t think I like these relatives.”
“I don’t really like them either,” she mumbled into his shoulder, but he still heard her.
“Why don’t you come live with us then. We’re soulmates, so it shouldn’t be that much of a problem?”
“ I- would like that.”
“Alright, we’ll see if dad can arrange it.” Rin nodded determinedly as he carried her back.
They came upon a monastery with a priest waiting outside. He seemed to have anger on his face. Though not one of displeasure but worry. When he caught sight of Persephone and her bruised face, he ran straight to them.
“ Tou-san, this is Persephone. I found her getting beat up by a really big kid, so I gave him some of his own medicine, but she’s hurt.”
“I see while fighting isn’t always a good thing Rin the fact you defended her is admirable. We’ll take care of her than find her guardians.”
She cringed at what he said, and Rin felt it. He gripped my legs in reassurance.
“She can’t go back to them.”
“Why not?”
“Cause they hurt her, and she’s my soul mate,” Rin said with resolve on his face.
“S-soulmate?!!!”
Chapter 2: Shiro's decision
Notes:
Here's another chapter for everyone. Hope you like it
Chapter Text
It had been a while since Shiro was this surprised. The last time was when he saw Yuri’s mark. Wings surrounded by blue fire. The mark of the devil and it was over her heart. Now his son had his own mark at the age of four. Which wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the fact that his mate happened to be the girl who lived.
This was such a mess. It didn’t help that she held a blue flame on her arm. Any exorcist who saw that would know she was tied to the king of Gehenna in some way. What’s more, is Rins mark held her lightning bolt, but it seemed to be in the shape of hallows. What in the hell were these two in for.
“TOU-SAN!” Rin screamed at him breaking him out of his musings.
“Sorry Rin, what did you need?”
“We need to get Persephone looked at. She’s got some bruises from her cousin,” Rin said
“I-I’m fine, really you don’t have to go to that trouble,” Persephone said.
Shiro frowned. The girl was timid, scared, and showed minor signs of abuse. He knelt to their eye level. Looked at Rin’s determined face and at her frightened teary eyes. He made a decision then. He would protect her and treat her like his daughter.
“Rin, follow me. We’re going on a little trip with your mate.” He said, walking into the church.
“Yukio, come with us were going to the hospital and then the registry.” He called out, heading towards the car.
Yukio followed without a word. He was carrying an old tome with him on demons, ironically a history on their mates. You wouldn’t think demons would have a mate, but time and again, there have been a few recorded cases throughout history.
Smiling at Yukio, he ruffled his hair. They climbed into the car, and Shiro buckled the kids in. Rin clung to Persephone tightly, trying to make her feel better in a way that a four-year-old can.
“Don’t worry Sephy, the doctors aren’t scary cause Yukio wants to be one, and he’s the sweetest guy I know, so doctors have to be sweet too.”
Yukio blushed, “Ni-san, I don’t think it works like that.”
“Come on Yukio, they wouldn’t make a mean person a doctor. They're supposed to heal people and mean people only want to hurt.” Rin retorted
“I-I think I agree with Rin only m-mean people hurt,” Persephone whispered.
“See, Sephy agrees with me,” Rin said, waving his hands.
“Y-you called me Sephy,” she said quietly.
“Well, yea Persephone is kind of hard to say, so I figured I would shorten it. You don’t like it?” He asked, scratching his face. A small blush appearing on his face.
“N-no, I love it; it's just no one’s ever given me a nickname aside from freak before,” Persephone replied, blushing.
The kids jerked a bit to the side as Shiro had suddenly swerved in shock. That does it. He’s calling that fucking clown when he gets to the hospital. He wanted to wait to tell Rin when he was older. Hell, he didn’t even want Rin to know, but since she has that mark, that changes things. It’s why he was driving to the Taichou hospital. It was a place that healed demons, half-demons, and their respective families or mates.
They may not be welcoming to him as an exorcist, but they would be to a half-demon and his mate. Yukio might be problematic. He would see all of them in their true form, and it could cause problems he would need to talk to him.
Shiro parked at the hospital, turned to Yukio, looked at him, sighed, and said to all three children.
“Whatever you three see, please do not comment on it or be alarmed. This is the one place I could trust for them to look at Persephone without judgment. Towards her or Rin.” He explained before exiting the car and bringing the kids out.
“Why would they be against Rin? I would understand me since I’m a fre-“
Shiro dropped to the ground and hugged Persephone cutting her off.
“Never refer to yourself as a freak young one. You are a child, an innocent little girl. You do not deserve what has been done to you. Now come along, let’s go get you looked at.” he said, holding his hand towards her. She grabbed it and clutched Rin's hand with her free one. Shiro grasped Yukio's with his free hand, and they walked into the unknown. Little did he know how much this one event would change.
Chapter 3: The Results

Chapter Text
Shiro walked into the hospital with his kids and went to the check-in. The demoness appeared wary at the arrival of the paladin. However, when she saw who was with him and the faint blue aura around the child, massive blue flames with flecks of green and black hidden by one of Mephisto's seal and the black-green aura around the girl with specks of blue, she realized he was here as a concerned parent. He may be an exorcist, but right now, that didn’t matter.
“Reason for visit?” She asked
“I need to get my son’s mate, Persephone checked out for any physical injuries.” Shiro
“Last name?” She asked
“Potter.”
The demoness quirked her eyebrow at that.
“Shall I assume that they had their first encounter and bonding today then?”
“Yes, the circumstances of how they found each other were rather unfortunate,” Shiro said
“Her cousin was beating her up, and I gave him a taste of his own medi-medi-“
“Medicine Rin,” Shiro finished
“Right medicine,” Rin said, grinning widely.
“I see, and would you like her to be magically examined as well?” she asked
“Yes, If that’s possible,” Shiro answered
“Oh it’s possible alright. Especially since I don’t see any medical file on her except from when she was one. Nothing is here about her visiting after the attack or when she was placed with whoever Albus Dumbledore decided was capable of caring for her.” She spat while looking at her computer
“I take it you don’t like him either?” Shiro asked
“We youkai despise him, probably more than we despise your employers. Either way, I have you in the system. If you take a seat, we will be with you shortly.” She said, gesturing to the waiting room.
Shiro walked with his kids and sat down after helping Yukio into a chair to read his book. He watched him as Rin and Persephone played with the toys provided and made up some rather exciting scenarios.
Soon a nurse came out and called them back. They followed her to the pediatric wing. All the while, Rin held onto Persephone's hand. Even when the nurse took her measurements and weight, they kept their hands together.
When they were in the room waiting on the doctor. Rin sat with Persephone on the bench. Shiro could tell she was nervous and visibly shaking. Rin tried to comfort her, but it only kept her from having a full-blown panic attack.
“Alright kiddo, what are you scared about?” Shiro asked
“I-I can’t tell you, I-It’ll make things worse.” She said
“Listen kid, whatever’s happened, whoever’s done this to you will not be seeing you again if I have anything to say about it,” Shiro said
“That’s just it, anyone whos tried—whos tried to help me has disappeared or-or forgot about me. It always—it always made it worse.” She said
“I see,” Shiro said, face becoming darker. If he ever finds out who hurt his soon to be daughter they. Will. Pay.
He brightened his face up with a smile.
“I’ll tell you what kid, if you promise to be honest and let the nice doctors examine you and answer all their questions, I’ll promise I won’t forget you and try my best to stay here as long as possible, deal,” Shiro asked offering his pinkie.
Persephone gripped it with hers tightly, tears forming in her eyes.
“Promise,” she said. There was a flash of green light, and a ring formed around both pinkies. Shiro was shocked at this. It had been a long while since he’d seen wild magic. Especially this kind. The rings slowly faded into the skin but would appear and give a warning if either attempted to break the promise. It would compel both to keep it.
There was a knock on the door as the doctor came in. She had long blue-black hair and brown eyes. She appeared human, but Shiro knew her for what she was…the Shikon Miko.
“Is there a particular reason we have you as our doctor?” Shiro asked
Kagome huffed.
“I specialize in cases like hers, and you and I both know if anyone understands what she might be in for, it’s me. Now then Miss Potter, I’m Higurashi Kagome, and I will be your doctor today.”
“What—what are you going to do?” She asked
“Well, if you don’t mind, I would like to examine you for any injuries.”
“Do do I have to remove my clothes?” She asked
Kagome shook her head.
“Not in this case, all I need is to cast a spell that will give me a diagnostic of anything that could be physically or magically wrong. If you allow me to, it can also show me your history. “ Kagome said.
“Will it hurt?” She asked
Kagome chuckled. “No little one at most it will feel like a slight tingle.”
“Ok, then I’ll let you cast it but only if I can hold Rin-chan’s hand,” Persephone said.
Kagome smiled gently. She remembered when she and her mate were like that. These two were so cute.
“That is more than fine, now then, I’m going to cast the spell, and this file here will record your history for me. After that, we’ll see where we go from there.” She said.
Kagome looked to Shiro. She usually would need consent from the child’s guardian. However, since he’s her soul mates guardian and considering the current situation, Shiro would do.
Shiro nodded his consent, and Kagome cast the spell. She watched the folder that initially held a few papers from when she was born up to a few months before the Potters went into hiding. She was expecting the amount that showed up after the first few minutes, but when it continued to grow, she began to feel something she hadn’t in a while unadulterated rage, only tempered by years of self-control.
However, even years of practice couldn’t prepare her for what she read. Multiple broken bones, malnutrition, organ failure, dehydration, numerous lacerations, and burns, and that was only the physical injuries. Her magic was on the brink of collapse before she found Rin. She had residual dark magic from the attack if she had to guess it was from a soul leech. She also had numerous blocks and potions in her system that both restricted and drained her magic.
She needed to step out. She needed to rage and destroy, else she’d level the place she called in her son. Handed him the file and left, saying she needed to go find some specialists. Once Kagome was out of the room, she transported to the pottery room. She grabbed a bat and began to destroy everything. When she was done and felt calm, she sent out a few messages as she walked back to the room. One to the goblins, one to the soul mate registry, one to a renowned potion master, and one to her mate. If anyone could make sure Persephone didn’t return to those monsters, it was Sesshomaru.
When she got to the room, she saw Shippou barely contained his rage, as was Shiro. She looked at them both in the eye and said.
“The pottery room should be back to normal now if you want to use it, Shiro if you trust me to look after the kids, Shippou can show you where it is,” Kagome said
“Oh I trust you, but right now, my kids need me,” Shiro said
“Understandable, If you don’t mind, I believe I need to talk to you privately.”
Shiro looked to his kids and to Kagome. He saw Persephone held a guarded expression. Like she had information held from her before.
“If it’s about Persephone, I think it would be best if you go ahead and tell me in front of them,” Shiro said
“All right, the injuries Persephone has suffered from are extensive. As you read in her file, you should know that fixing them will not be easy. Not only that, but it seems that someone has been blocking and draining her magic. Usually, we could figure out who, but it seems the magical signature is not on file. However, we have a residue collected thanks to the spell, but with no current match, we cannot press charges. Luckily we can press charges against the monsters who did this if Persephone tells us who. The first thing we need to heal is her scar. It has a soul-sucking leech attached to it.” Kagome finished
Persephone gasped, and Rin gripped her hand a little tighter. His face scrunched up in the anger of a child. He saw the scar on her forehead, without thinking, he touched it. Her scar was ignited in blue flames along with Rin’s hand. There was a deafening scream from the leech being burned away from her scar. Persephone winced in discomfort as the leech was removed. Kagome cast another scan on her and found the leech gone.
Shiro and Yukio were shocked; Rin shouldn’t have been able to do that. His demonic powers should still be sealed. Shiro gulped and decided he really needed to call that stupid clown.
“Sorry Sephy, I didn’t mean for that to happen,” Rin said, shaking in fright and worrying about his mate.
“N-no, it’s ok; it just felt like a slight pinch, but it—It was so warm. I think you might have a—a superpower Rin.” Persephone said in amazement.
“Really? That would be so cool I could burn all the bad guys and those people that hurt you!” Rin said in excitement.
“NO!” Persephone screamed
Rin looked shocked and then saddened.
“I, I don’t want you to get hurt Rin, and they and they would hurt you.” She said fearfully.
“Persephone, who was it that caused your physical injuries?” Kagome asked
“I-I-“
“It’s ok to be scared Persephone but remember our promise. We will do everything in our power to put these people away; we just need to know who it was that did this.” Shiro said, comforting her.
“It—It was my relatives, Aunt—Aunt Petunia, and Unc-Uncle Vernon. Their last name—their last name is Dursley.” Persephone said
Two things happened when she said that. The first Rin exploded into blue flames, his eyes turning red with rage. Shiro frantically tried to separate Persephone but stopped when she hugged Rin feeling his rage and channeling calm. His flames dulled and almost disappeared. He hugged her back in apology. Shiro was amazed that she had no burn marks on her skin. He really needed to call that clown.
The second was two men walked in. One being the aforementioned clown Mephisto, headmaster of the True Cross Academy, the other was Kagome's mate, Sesshomaru Taichou.
“Well isn’t that a coincidence considering I was supposed to meet Vernon Dursley for a business deal concerning Grunnings, however, now that I know what kind of filth he actually is I’ll enjoy tearing him apart in court.” Sesshomaru said with a feral grin. He hated child abusers and enjoyed ruining them.
“I’m sure you will Taichou-sama, and I will be more than happy to get this set up in all three court systems,” Mephisto said
“What do you mean all three you stupid clown,” Shiro asked, glaring at him
“Why Shiro, you wound me. What’s wrong.”
“What’s wrong is that your sealed failed.”
“It’s not my fault he found his mate at such a young age. I did warn you this might happen either way; what’s done is done, and seeing as she’ll be my sister later on, I do believe It’s only right we get revenge for her. There’s no better way than to get the Dursleys tried in the human, magic, and demon courts for abuse of a magical child and a demon’s mate.” Mephisto said.
“Wait, what demon? Sephy’s my mate, not a demon.” Rin said.
“Why you little brother are the demon…or well half demon.” Mephisto said with a grin.
“Wha- Wha” Rin started to say before passing out onto Persephone’s lap.
“Oh dear, I guess the excitement of the day must have finally caught up with him.”
“Dammint you stupid clown, I was going to explain things to him after we had finished with everything to help Persephone,” Shiro shouted, hitting Mephisto over the head, knocking his hat off.
“Well, I figured might as well break the secret and let the girl know what she was getting into,” Mephisto replied, picking his hat off the ground, dusting it off before placing it on his head
“It doesn’t—doesn’t matter if Rin’s a demon or a human, he’s my mate and the one person who was nice to me. I don’t care what species he is. He is my mate.” Persephone declared loudly, and for a brief moment, the symbol of the deathly hollow flashed in her eyes.
“Now isn’t this interesting. I think you will make a wonderful addition to the family, little Persephone,” Mephisto smirked in awe. This was bound to bring him plenty of entertainment.
“If you are quite done, I do believe I have a patient to take care of, and Sesshomaru has a case to start building,” Kagome said dryly.
“My mate is right, Fujimoto san seeing as how you will be the girl's guardian by default, how do you wish to proceed,” Sesshomaru asked.
Shiro’s face darkened, his aura becoming stifling. He wasn’t made the paladin for nothing.
“I want you to charge them with everything you can think of. I want you to tear them apart and ruin their public image. I want them to suffer tenfold for what they did to my daughter.” He demanded.
Sesshomaru grinned predatorily.
“Consider it done.” He said.
The Dursleys were in for a rude awakening. Once Sesshomaru was done with them, no one would want anything to do with them.

Chapter Text
The Dursleys were waiting to board their plane when airport security came up to them. They said that they had received a call about them missing something important. Vernon had grumbled something about stupid, backward people screwing up their flight and their vacation. At least he didn’t have to worry about the freak. Dudley had run her off, just like he told him to do.
When they stopped, Vernon demanded what they were doing and where they were before being tackled to the ground. Petunia shrieked in alarm and started yelling for them to get off her husband and leave them alone. Dudley began crying, and Vernon struggled to throw the men off when he felt cuffs snap around his wrists.
“What the bloody hell is this all about,” Vernon demanded
“You are under arrest for physical abuse against one Persephone Potter.” An officer said, dragging him to his feet
“What!? Look, whatever that little brat told you was a lie. We never laid a hand on her. She’s a criminal.” Vernon spat
“That’s right; she steals from our neighbors and us. We only took her with us to keep her out of trouble.”
“The evidence would say otherwise, ma’am.” Another officer spat.
“What evidence she’s a lying cheating little freak who should have died with her parents. I demand you release me right this instant.” Vernon began trying to escape. The guards weren’t having it and stuck a needle in his neck. Vernon felt himself drifting away from everything and then darkness.
Back at the hospital
Shiro waited with Rin, who was still out cold from the news of his heritage. Yukio was busy reading his book, and Mephisto was waiting with them. Persephone was in a time chamber that would allow them to break the binds on her magic, the unwanted spells, remove the Horcrux, and fix all the physical damage her relatives had done to her.
Sesshomaru was busy putting together a case against the Dursleys and making it so his guardianship was legal. Even if it didn’t pan out, he was looking into other viable options. One of them is a distant relative by the name of Stanley Pines. Who currently lived in gravity falls. If Dumbledore tried bringing up the blood wards, they had a plan to move into the house there along with the wards.
However, that was only one of the many back-up plans. Another was a blood adoption done by him and Kagome. It would mean an eventual alliance with Rin’s biological father, which, while not ideal, could be done.
When Sesshomaru was alerted the Dursleys were in custody, he left his office and went to give the news to Shirou. Coincidently, this was the same time Persephone was released from the time chamber and given a room to recover.
“The Dursley’s are in custody, right now. We’re only getting information out of the son, but that’s due to the sugar bribes. The husband is sedated, and the wife is demanding a lawyer and access to the UK ambassador.” Sesshomaru told him
Shiro's eye hardened. He took a deep breath and walked towards Persephone's room.
“Let her have a lawyer, let her get in touch with the ambassador, but only after they’ve been made aware of what crimes have been committed. I want her ruined. I want it so no one in their right mind will help them or her family.” Shiro snarled
“Good choice. I’ll have my people get right on that.” Sesshomaru was going to leave when he overheard a commotion.
“Sir, you can not go back there!” A nurse shouted
“Now now miss, I’m young Persephone's magical guardian, and you all treated her without my consent. The least you can do is allow me to see my charge.” Dumbledore said calmly.
The nurse huffed in frustration at this man. He didn’t really think they would have allowed him to remain her magical guardian, did they?
“I think you’re mistaken sir, Persephone’s guardians already gave consent for her treatment. They also told me you were not allowed back there. So I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” She said
“Strange, I don’t see her aunt and uncle here? Are they waiting for her? If they are, maybe you could find them-“ Dumbledore was cut off by Sesshomaru.
“I’m afraid that those pieces of garbage are not here. Now, if you would, please leave my hospital.” Sesshomaru released a bit of his yoki at this.
“I see, well then, If I’m correct, she shouldn’t be here either,” Dumbledore said smugly, releasing his magic.
This was the wrong thing to do. Sesshomaru released all of his yoki and targeted it straight at the old man. He crumpled to the floor, gasping from the pressure. He had never felt something this before. Never had anyone been able to make him collapse to the ground.
“Let me make something clear to you, as of today, your guardianship, and the guardianship of those pieces of filth has been revoked. The Dursleys are going to be tried for their crimes and you for neglecting your duties as a guardian. If you want a lawyer, we can provide one for you, but for now, you're going to a cell.” Sesshomaru snapped his fingers and transported the man into a magic-proof cell.
He knew Dumbledore would more than likely only receive a fine at most since he could claim being too consumed with work to check up on the girl or the fact that his instruments malfunctioned and didn’t tell him when she was physically abused. Either way, he would take a hit to his reputation.
“Er, how exactly are we going to take care of the magical guardianship?” Shiro asked
“Oh, that’s already been taken care of.” Sesshomaru said
“Did you appoint your-“
“No, It’s not me. It’s you,” Sesshomaru interrupted
“What! how?” Shiro screeched
“When you made that promise to Persephone, magic herself declared you as her magical guardian and revoked any chance of Dumbledoor gaining that title. Unfortunately, we may still need to have you move to the states where her cousin is. Knowing him, he’ll try to use the blood wards, so it may be a good idea to get into contact with her cousin.” Sesshomaru finished
“Seeing as how Rin’s powers are awakening, you are right the Vatican doesn’t have as much jurisdiction in the states, and Gravity Falls is one area they can’t enter. We don’t know why, but we do know anytime we try to hunt in that area; it prevents our access.” Shiro continued.
“It’s due to the barrier it keeps the natural weirdness out but also keeps it protected. It’s one of the few spots left that helps keep things balanced. If that barrier breaks, then so do the others throwing the world into the same chaos that was present during the feudal era.” Sesshomaru finished.
“So breaking the Barrier is bad, ok, got it,” Shiro said.
“Yes, but it will be a safe place for you and the kids. I can arrange to have the cabin built on if Stanley agrees, and the wards moved.” Sesshomaru answered.
“Ok, but…let me make the phone call. If Stanley is who I think he is, then he may know me.” Shiro said.
“Very well, this is his current number.” Sesshomaru handed Shiro a paper with Stanley's number, and Shiro went to go make the call where he wouldn’t be disturbed. The phone rang a few times before a gruff voice picked up.
“Stan Pines speaking, what do you want.” A gruff voice asked
“Stanley, how’ve you been, you old codger,” Shiro said
“Shiro, you stick man, how ya doing and who you calling old?” Stanley said
“Well, I’ve been better. You would not believe the day I’ve had,” Shiro said.
“Tell me all about it, buddy,” Stanley said.
“Well, first of all, my oldest met his mate.”
“That’s great news buddy, I mean, yeah, they're young, but at least you won’t have to worry about that part of his life anymore.”
“Yes, but the problem is, she was being abused by her caretakers. We have them in custody now with plans to have them persecuted-“
“You know Shiro, I still have connections and some favors owed by some people. If you want, I can have them taken care of,” Stanley said darkly.
“No need my friend. I do appreciate the offer. I was actually calling to see if you’d be willing to house us.” Shiro asked, rubbing his neck.
“Well, it would be a bit of a tight fit, but I’m pretty sure I could.”
“That’s great! Actually, I have someone who’d be willing to add onto the cabin see the reason I’m asking is-“
“That kid of yours manifested his flames, didn’t he?” Stanley deadpanned
“Yes, is that going to be a problem?” Shiro gripped his phone
“Course not buddy, I don’t judge people based on their parents. I mean, look at mine.” Stanley chuckled humorlessly.
“Right, but as it turns out, the main reason I’m calling is that Rin’s mate is a relation to you, and we might also need to make you one of her guardians,” Shiro said.
“Well, I’m not really the best of choice for a guardian, but what’s the kid's name?” Stanley asked
“Persephone, Persephone Potter,” Shiro said.
“Potter, Potter, why does that name sound so familiar….Oh yeah, that’s the name of the bloke Lily married. Wait, is this girl Lily’s kid? What’s she doing with Petunia!” Stanley exclaimed, figuring the only relatives aside from his family was Lily’s sister.
“Stanley, don’t you know?” Shiro asked.
“Know what? Shiro tell me what happened to Lily,” Stanley said
“As far as I know, she was killed a couple of years back,” Shiro said solemnly
“No, not her not- I’ll kill that old man and that Dark Lord. Listen Shiro, tell me where you are, and I’ll find a way to you—” Stanley began to say. But Shiro's phone was snatched by Mephisto.
“That won’t be necessary, Mr.Pines, Eins Zwei Drei” Mephisto snapped his fingers, and Stanley appeared in front of them in the hallway. Stanley looked disoriented and gobsmacked.
“Er right, Stanley, this is Mephisto and old friend of mine he’s a time and space demon.” Shiro
“I-what-*sigh* you owe me a drink,” Stanley demanded
“Drinks will have to wait, Persephone is awake, and she is asking for you, Shiro. So follow me to her room, and we will continue this discussion of the minds.” Mephisto clapped his hands.
Stanley groaned. He hated dealing with crazy shit when he wasn’t being paid.
Notes:
Yes, I know another fandom is getting involved but I have my reasons. One of them being for future stories I won't tell you which ones but that's just how I have it planned. I know it's been a while since I updated but life happens. I know this is just discussion but I have to get Persephone to a safe place and then I can move onto teenage years.
Chapter 5: Waking Healed
Chapter Text
When Persephone awoke, she felt sore but not a beating sore, a healing sore. She felt lighter, like a heavy burden had been lifted. She felt her forehead and noticed the scar wasn’t as prominent. It was almost gone. Persephone started looking at her other scars and saw they were either gone or fading. She began to tear up for the first time. She didn’t feel heavy or hurt; she felt happy.
Everyone was right meeting your soulmate is the best thing that could happen in your life. The door opened, and Shiro came in carrying her mate. He was still sleeping and was placed next to her on the bed. Rin curled into her holding her hand tightly. Rin was waking up right at the moment she started to cry.
“Don’t cry Sephy, everything will be al’right,” Rin said sleepily
“I’m just really happy Rin, so happy for the first time I—I don’t know if I’ve ever been this happy,” she said, wiping her tears.
“Well then, we’ll just have to keep making you happy, so you don’t cry when you feel the emotion,” Yukio said, climbing up next to them.
“After all, you’re family now, and family should make each other happy,” Yukio continued.
“Yukio is right cause he’s the smartest kindest little brother in the whole world,” Rin exclaimed.
“I don’t know about that, Rin.” Yukio scratched his face.
“I think Rins right. Even though I’ve only known you for a little bit, I can tell you are everything he says you are,” Persephone said.
“See even da—” Rin stopped speaking as he remembered that Shiro wasn’t actually his father but a demon. Which made him a demon.
“Rin, what’s wrong.” His mate asked.
“I’m a demon those adults were ri—”
“Now you listen here Rin Okumura. You may have demon blood running through your veins, but that does not make you a bad person. You saved me from my abusers; you carried me to your home, and just because S-Shirou-san didn’t father you doesn’t mean he’s not your dad. It takes more than just blood to make a family.” Persephone said while she held him tightly. Her happy tears becoming tears of anger. She wanted to know what adults hurt her mate, which ones called him such things. She wanted to make them pay.
“Well said little sister, lord knows out of the many siblings I have there are a few I could do without, a certain dream demon being one of them, but he’s not really important right now.” Mephisto chimed in
Shiro hit the top of his head with his fist.
“OW~ Shiro that was mean.”
“Shut up you stupid clown. This is your fault; if you had just kept quiet about the twin's father being the king of Gehenna we wouldn’t be in this situation.” Shirou spat.
“Wait, our sire is Satan! You didn’t tell me that,” Yukio shouted. He knew about how him and his brother were sired by a demon but no about said demon being the king of Gehenna.
Mephisto grinned.
“See Shiro, I only said Rin was half-demon I didn’t say who his sire was~” He sang
Shiro placed his head in his hands. Damn that stupid clown.
“It doesn’t matter either way Rin is still Rin and Yukio is still Yukio,” Persephone said.
“Well said kid,” a gruff voice said.
The children turned towards the voice and saw a man dressed in a suit with a fez hat and a scruffy beard.
“Who are you?” Rin asked
“Names Stanley, Stanley Pines. I run a mystery shack, and if all goes well, you lot might be moving in with me in the states.” Stanley introduced himself.
“Why would we be moving in with you?” Yukio asked
“Because with Rin unlocking his powers among other things, it would be the best place to keep Rin and Persephone away from people who would try and either hurt them or use them. Gravity falls is one of the few places that is a sanctuary for all non-humans.” Mephisto finished.
“I knew your mother Persephone, and I know she would have never wanted you with Petunia.” Stanley continued.
Persephone gripped Rin’s hand harder.
“Then why didn’t you come for me?” She asked
“I didn’t know about anything. The last I heard from your parents was right before they went into hiding. I would get updates from your godfather, but he stopped talking to me, and when I reached out to their old headmaster, all he would say was that they were alive and to say much else would compromise their security If I had known—” here Stanley teared up
“OK, we’ll live with you.” Persephone interrupted, loosening her grip on her mate’s hand.
“Just like that?” Shirou asked in disbelief
“Growing up with the Dursley's growing up on Private Drive, you learn to tell who’s real and who’s fake who’s lying and who’s telling the truth. He’s the real deal, and I want to know more about my parents.”
“I’ll tell you everything you want to know kid,” Stanley said as he wiped away his tears.
“So, does this mean we’re moving?” Rin asked
“Yep, to America.”
“AMERICA!” The children exclaimed.

Chapter Text
It had been ten years since Persephone had met her soulmate Rin and his family. Ten years since she received the help she needed and got away from the Dursley's. She could remember the day of the trial still. How they had accused her of using her magic. How they claimed they were normal people. Normal, yeah, right.
Because of them, she had to go through years of therapy. Because of them, she had to work through physical therapy. Because of them, she still had night terrors. Night terrors which only soothed by Rin. She guessed if there was one good thing that came from her four years with those monsters, it was him—her soulmate. Though finding out your soulmates sire is the demon king was rather shocking. Not that it mattered because anyone who knew Rin or his brother would think they were Shiro's kids, although with how Rin smiles, you'd think he was related to an angel.
“Hey Sephy watcha thinking bout,” Rin asked as he wrapped his arms around his mate.
“Just about how I met my mate,” She responded, causing Rin to growl, remembering what those pieces of Garbage had done to her.
“Calm down Rinny, it wasn't all bad. I got you out of it, didn't I?” She turned in his arms and pecked him lightly on the lips.
Rin smirked in response and pecked her back. “Maybe, but you still shouldn't have been hurt. No one deserves that.”
“Mmmhm, I agree, but in the end, they got what they deserved, and we got each other,” Persephone said.
“True, so are you excited about next year?” Rin asked.
“That depends. Are you talking about when we graduate from our magical schooling or about when we start our undercover assignment as exorcist's in training? She asked
“Both.”
“Being able to be seen as an adult in the magical will be pretty awesome, buuut being able to troll all those higher-ups in the Vatican will be even more fun.” She answered with a shark-like grin on her face.
“I love how you think, my life,” Rin said as he snuggled into his mate
“Of course my Death, what else would we do? I do wonder If we will meet Anderson?”
“Tou-san did say his cousin was a bit eccentric and might even be able to sense that I'm a demon, so it might be funny.”
“Can you imagine what his reaction would be finding out we're related?” Persephone asked
“Oh man, that's going to be hilarious. Now I want to run into him.” Rin yelled in excitement.
“Hey, are you two lovebirds done over there because last I checked, we got a party to go to,” Yukio shouted across the yard.
“Yeah, yeah, bro, don't get your panties in a twist,” Rin yelled back.
“That was one time! One time!” Yukio screeched
“Sure, it was one time that we caught you in any way.” Persephone said smugly.
“You—I ugh you're as bad as Rin sometimes, I swear,” Yukio screamed, throwing his arms in the air in frustration.
“Seeing as how he is my mate and I've grown up around both of you, it would be safe to say I would pick up some habits from you guys.” Persephone chuckled.
She and Rin both began to walk towards the shack, where Stanley was waiting for them to get the party started. They were going to have to work the door for an hour or two before getting to enjoy, but still this Halloween was bound to be enjoyable. That was until a portal opened up and began pulling Persephone in. Rin gripped tightly to her with his tail and arm. Fire starting to creep around his body. Flicking his eyes around, searching for the threat.
The pull was too strong, and both she and Rin were sucked in. It honestly felt like they were going down a water slide and when it ended, they landed on a floor. They jumped into position, backs together daggers and sword out.
They took in their surroundings, seeing a giant cup and children of differing ages sitting at tables staring at them, adults sitting at a long table looking over the kids...and a man Persephone hoped to never see again.
“Dumbledore,” she growled.
“Hello again Miss Potter. If you and your companion wouldn't mind putting your weapons away—”
Rin scoffed, “Yeah no, we don't trust you, and for all we know, you're the one who sent that portal after us.”
“Ah, the thing is it was not anyone here who summoned you but rather an ancient magical artifact.” A man said.
“And you are,” Rin asked
“Bartemius Crouch, I work with the ministry in the department of international cooperation.” He answered.
Persephone meanwhile, was taking a closer looked at the goblet. 'The goblet of fire' it read.
“Oh Fuck no! please tell me you morons didn't bring back a tournament with a high death rate. Please tell me you're not that stupid.” She groaned.
“Well I never.” A woman with a Scottish accent said.
“Well now you have” Rin snarked back
“Miss Potter, while it may be true that in the past the tournament caused a great many deaths, we did instill some safety measures to prevent that such as an age line.” Dumbledore said
“Ok fine, whatever. How does that explain why I'm here.” She snapped
“Well somehow, your name came out of the goblet.” He answered with a smile on his face.
“WHAT” she and Rin screamed together.

Happy thanksgiving sorry it took soooo long for me to update I've been busy with work and getting a bunch of other things in order. anyways hope ya'll enjoyed this.
Chapter 7: A wild Shippou appears
Chapter Text
Persephone was not a happy camper, no siree. It took all of five seconds after being announced her name was entered into the cup for her to pull out her cell.
“If you’re going to try and use technology, it won’t work here.” A girl with frizzy hair and red and gold robs said.
“Maybe if this was a standard muggle cell, but it’s not, so it will.” She said, dialing her uncle/Lawyer.
Persephone only had to wait a few minutes for him to pick up. After receiving confirmation, she could place him on speaker. She did so, waiting for him to speak.
“Now then, what exactly is this about, Lady Potter,” Sesshomaru asked
“It would seem that the fools at the English ministry have decided to reinstate the Triwizard tournament.” Persephone deadpanned, glaring at said fools, daring them to contradict her.
“What does that have to do with you?” Sesshomaru asked, slightly intrigued.
“Someone apparently wanted the girl-who-lived to participate.”
“So they entered your name, and I take it a portal opened up to drag you to the goblet’s location.” Sesshomaru said.
“That would be correct.”
“I see. Take me off speaker. Am I to assume Rin is there?”
Persephone did as asked and then answered his question.
“You would assume correctly.”
“Good, there are a few reasons the goblet could have dragged you there. One, it took your entry as real, and you will have to compete. Or two, it’s sensing someone wished to use it to cause your possible death has summoned you to pass judgment on said persons.” Sesshomaru explained.
“Kay, so how do we know which is which?” She asked
“Is the fire still lit?” Sesshomaru asked
“Nope.”
“Then we have no way of finding out.”
“Shit.”
“Indeed.” Sesshomaru finished.
Persephone wrapped up her conversation before hanging up the phone.
“Well, Rin looks like we’re stuck in this tournament. Thankfully Lord Taichou is going to contact our guardians for us and is going to send along someone who can act as a temporary guardian for us along with some supplies.” Persephone explained.
“Cool, who’s he sending?”
Suddenly there was a pop of foxfire as Shippou appeared with an old yellow backpack packed to the brim.
“Hey kids, bossman said you were in a bit of a pickle,” Shippou said.
“I’m sorry, but who are you,” Crouch asked
“Shippou of the Taichou clan, I’ve been given temporary guardianship rights over these two and designated as a representative of the school they attended for this tournament. If you could just show us an area outside where we can set up camp, that would be appreciated.” Shippou answered
“I’m sure that won’t be necessary, seeing as miss Potters' parents were Gryffindor. I’m sure the house would be very welcoming to you three,” Dumbledore said.
Rin scoffed at him while Shippous smile tightened.
“I’m sorry Headmaster, but as this is a competition between schools and both Rin and Persephone are not students of this one, I can’t trust that the students here wouldn’t try and sabotage them while they sleep. Therefore I will be needing an area we can call home for the duration of this tournament, or I could just take them home and bring them here in time for the tournament.” Shippou stated.
“Very well, Hagrid will show you to where you can set up,” Dumbledore said through gritted teeth.
“Thank you Rin, Persephone, come with me so we can get set up. With any luck, we will have everything set up before midnight.” Shippou finished
The couple stared at each other briefly but followed the fox yokai. It looks like their last year of school was going to be an interesting one.
Chapter 8: Weighing of the Focus
Summary:
Edit with the proper chapter sorry about that folks.
Chapter Text
Rin and Persephone were exploring the Hogwarts castle. They were trying to get a feel for the place in case a part of the tournament was held within the walls. Neither was quite sure what the first task was going to be. Crouch had said it was a test of courage. Persephone thinks he’s just full of it.
They were interrupted from their search when a pair of red-headed twins appeared out of nowhere.
“There you two—
“Are, they’ve—
“Been looking everywhere—
“For you, lady Persephone.
They finished causing Persephone to groaned, not another set of twins who did twin speak! Rin was just cackling. Another set of prankster twins. Most people wouldn’t know it, but Yukio could be an absolute genius when it comes to pranking.
“Who and why are they looking for me?” Persephone asked, rubbing her temples.
“The Triwizard committee—
“They’re doing the weighing—
“Of the wands.”
Persephone and Rin both let out a snort.
“Their gonna have a rough time then,” Rin said
“Since I haven’t used a wand since I was six.” Persephone finished raising her hand to show her focus ring and bracelet.
The red-headed twins whistled while grinning. They knew there were better focuses of magic than just wands. Unfortunately, they were uncommon in England, and as such, they couldn’t get them.
“We knew you two were going to bring some entertainment to our droll lives.”
“I mean, there’s only so many pranks one can pull before those get dull.”
“By the way, I’m Fred, and that’s George.” Fred gestured to himself than his brother
“Pleasure to meet a set of fellow twins and pranksters. Why don’t you two walk with us? We would love to exchange ideas.” Rin greeted with a fanged grin.
“We would love to join you two.”
“This way, we can watch the fireworks.”
“Also, are those fangs? Are you a vampire?”
“Nope,” Rin answered, popping the p
“What he is, requires a level 5 relationship. What you’re at right now is a level 1.5. Much higher than everyone but Shippou-san in this castle,” Persephone replied with a grin.
“Fair enough—
“Shall we?” George finished by bowing with his twin towards the hallway.
“We shall come along, boys.” Persephone walked through the two Rin following close behind.
The group walked towards the room where they were holding the weighing of the wands. Persephone deciding to make an entrance, kicked the door open, making her eyes glow. Everyone’s heads swerved towards her. Two out of three of the champions had their wands aimed at her spell on the tip of their tongue.
“Impressive, at least some of you have good instincts.” Persephone was clapping her hands, releasing some of her magic.
“Miss Potter, what is the meaning of this,” Dumbledore asked.
“I don’t know about you, but it’s common practice to test your opponents to see what they're capable of. I’m glad to see that the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang champions have good reflexes. Then again, that’s to be expected considering they’re more of an all-around education than Hogwarts.” Persephone waved Dumbledoor off nonchalantly.
“I beg your pardon.” A woman with glasses exclaimed in shock.
“Than beg.” Rin glared; that woman had way too many coal tars surrounding her to be healthy.
“Rin honey, what did we say about baring our fangs too soon.” Persephone scolded lightly.
Rin sighed, “Not to.”
“Exactly.” She patted his cheek before turning towards the committee.
“Now, then, I do believe we have a weighing of the wands to get through, no?” She tilted her head towards them, waiting for them to respond.
“Yes, well, everyone has already had their wands inspected by Ollivander. All that’s left is you.” Crouch said.
“Ah, well, unfortunately, I didn’t bring mine.” She spoke sharply with a smile stretching across her lips.
“Surely, your teacher brought it when he arrived?” Dumbledore asked.
“Can’t really bring what you don’t have.” Rin scoffed.
“I’m sorry, what do you mean don’t have?” Dumbledore asked, starting to sweat. Did Persphone even know how to use magic? She obviously knew about magic, but could she cast it?
“Well, if you English conclaves would get with the times, you’d know that most countries only use a wand when they’re children moving onto a more wearable focus before their magical maturity when they start to slowly use their magic without any kind of focus,” Persephone answered as she watched the other two foreign champions nod in agreement.
“Why did the other two have their wands then?” Asked Crouch.
“Ve brought our vwands from our childhood out of respect.” The Beauxbatons champion answered.
“And seeing as how I was dragged here as an unwilling champion, I didn’t see the need to ask my father to go looking for something I find as inconsequential. Besides, I’m sure any good wandmaker can inspect a jeweled focus just as well as a wand.” Persphone stated with a tight smile
“Of course, Miss Potter, I’ve actually wanted to try my hand at designing other focuses, but with the ministry restricting them to wands, I have been largely limited in what I can make. If you wouldn’t mind, I would love to inspect the pieces on your hand.” Ollivander smiled with awe in his voice. It’s been a long time since he’s been able to show his knowledge in the field.
“So long as I don’t have to remove them, sure.” Persephone shrugged, holding her hand out.
Ollivander grabbed her hand lightly, turning it this way and that. He seemed quite pleased with the work.
“A bracelet and ring made out of hematite, rather difficult metal to mold considering how resistant it can be to magic. Makes a good ground, though. The ring is paired with a rose quartz is rather good for the more emotion-based spells, while the emerald is rather good for earth-based spells. Would you mind performing a spell, just so we can make sure they are in good working order?” Ollivander finished.
Persephone smiled warmly at the man. She focused her magic in the stones and cast one of her patronuses, a stag.
“Marvelous simply marvelous, And a rather difficult spell to cast as well. I do believe we are done here, gentlemen, ladies.” Ollivander clapped his hands together before walking away.
“Well, I was hoping I could get an interview with each of the champions starting with the youngest.” The woman with glasses said before the mates could leave.
“And you are?” Persephone asked
“Oh, Rita Skeeter, with the Daily Prophet.” She said as she tried to get closer to the couple or, more precisely, Persephone.
“Hmmmmmm, Nope.” Persephone walked around her towards the door popping the p.
“But surely—”
“My ward said no, Miss Skeeter. Furthermore, according to international law, no paper is allowed to print articles or interviews of a minor without their guardian's consent. So if you were planning on publishing a revenge article, I highly recommend you don’t.” Shippou popped in front of her, speaking with a menacing fanged grin on his face.
“Well—I—”
“Good day.” He said, walking his charges out.
The Weasley twins were laughing the entire way out. Persephone and Rin smiling at their antics. Those two could benefit from learning from a true master of pranks.
“Thanks, Uncle Shippou. I really didn’t feel like dealing with that bitch,” Persephone said, walking towards the great hall.
“Yea, she had way too many tars around her,” Rin said with his arms behind his head.
“Sorry but—
“What are—
“Tars.” They finished together.
“Hmmmmm, well, we might be willing to tell you—“Rin started.
“If that is, Uncle Shippou agrees to take you on as his apprentice.” Persephone finished grinning at Shippou
Shippou rolled his eyes at the two of them. Like he was going to be dragged into teaching another set of snot-nosed brats. That one year at True Cross was a pain in the ass.
“You mean we could—
“Learn from the infamous—
“Nine-tailed fox king of pranks Shippou, Where do we sign up!” Exclaimed loudly.
Shippou stopped, turned, and stared at the twins. He looked at them intently. Not many knew that title. Most had to get to a certain level of pranking to even have a chance at learning about his title. He looked at their red hair, and it finally clicked.
“That depends. Are you the infamous Weasley twins?” Shippou asked
“Yep!” They replied.
Shippou grinned viciously. Oh, this would be such an excellent way to continue tormenting Dumbledore even after they left.
“Well, then gentlemen, care to join me back at our tent.” He gestured towards the open window.
The twins grinned at each other, summoned their brooms, and lept out the window.
It was at that moment all of the Hogwarts faculty felt a violent shiver run down their spines. The last time that happened, the marauders had given Remus A cup filled with Espresso a few nights before the full moon. That was known as hell week for the teachers.
Chapter Text
Persephone leaned against Rin as she sipped at her tea and watched the Great Hall break out into chaos. There was what appeared to be a recreation of the bog of eternal stench…except instead, it was filled with overly floral scents. In another area, there was what appeared to be an ice rink. The entrance to the hall was covered in Lava or rather realistic red slime that clung to those who fell in.
Most of the students were having fun…excluding a couple of the rather stuck up people. Case in point her cousin Draco Malfoy. Persphone wrinkled her nose as she thought about her unfortunate relation with the rather stuck-up blonde.
“What’s wrong, my Love.” Rin noticed her discomfort.
“Nothing really…only thinking about some unwanted relations.” She replied, looking towards Draco, who climbed out of the bog, looking like a drowned weasel.
“Ah, yes, that is a rather unpleasant thought. I think I can help.” Rin whispered, leaning towards her lips.
Persephone smirked, leaning closer, not noticing his hand reaching towards her head.
“Oh~ do tell my Fire.”
Rin smirked before he reached above her head and began to rub at the newly grown rabbit ears on her head. Persephone startled, not expecting a sudden spike of pleasure. She leaned into his pettings before recognizing what had occurred.
“Those twins spiked my tea!” She pulled back, looking into her tea, both impressed and mildly angry. She was more akin to a fox, not a bunny.
“Mhhm.” Rin agreed, rather amused. His Life was rather cute as a bunny.
“Am I to assume you helped?” She questioned.
“I always thought you’d look cute as a bunny.” He stated.
“Oh, good, then I guess I don’t have to feel as bad for helping them spike your drink,” Persephone stated as she stared at her Death’s wolfish features.
Rin took a look at his appearance in a transparent plate and whined.
“Sephy, you know I like cats more.”
“And you know I like foxes more, but we can’t always get what we want.” Persephone smiled at him as she watched other students gain animalistic characteristics.
Shippou was a relatively decent teacher when it came to pranks. Especially when he had students who were basically twin balls of chaos. She watched as the two gained a fox's features while dancing on the ice the two had created.
“I should have known you were at the source of all this chaos.” An angry voice said behind her.
Persephone turned to see the Hogwarts potion professor Severus Snape sporting bat features and a rather angry scowl.
“I’m not sure what you mean, Professor Snape.” She replied, sipping at her tea.
“Really? Are you trying to deny that you took part in this obvious misuse of magic? Destroying the Great hall, pranking other students and faculty?” He asked in disbelief.
Persephone sighed, placing her tea on the table
“Explain to me why you think I’m responsible for this chaos.” She stared straight into his eyes.
“Obviously it’s because you are just like your father, thinking you’re above consequences and—”
“Yeah, let me stop you right there.” Persephone held her hand up, cutting him off.
“First of all, I didn’t know my father, at least not until I was six. Second of all, even if I had, his actions hardly have an influence on me. Finally, if you’re so sure that I caused all of this,” She gestured to the entire to the entire hall.
“Then prove it. Besides, it’s not like it’s actually hurting anyone. Aside from a bruised ego.” She shrugged, going back to her tea.
“Did you jus—”
“Tell you to prove that she caused something? Yeah, she did because that’s what a teacher is supposed to do before dealing out punishments. You can’t punish her unless you can prove she caused this.” Rin glared at the dour man.
He didn’t know what his problem with Persphone was, but he didn’t like how he treated her.
“I would watch what you say to me.” Snape hissed.
“One we’re guests here. One of which was forced into this tournament. Two, respect is earned, not given. Third, we aren’t your students, so if you have any complaints, you have to discuss them with our guardian. In other words, kindly piss off.” Rin hissed back, his eyes starting to turn demonic.
Snape flinched back in fear. He didn’t know what this teenager was, but it wasn’t human.
Rin continued to glare at the potions professor before Persephone had placed her hand on his shoulder. She was emitting calming waves with her magic letting him know she was ok. Rin leaned into her touch, almost purring.
“If that’s all, Professor, we would like to enjoy our meal before the upcoming trial,” Persephone said as she popped a grape into her mouth before feeding another to Rin.
The professor glared before storming towards the head table. The couple looked towards Shippou, who nodded to them in amusement. They were soon joined by the Twins, who looked somewhat winded and covered in soap and red slime—sporting wide, tired smiles.
“I take it learning under Shippou has been fun?” Persephone smirked.
“Oh, you have no—”
“Idea Lady Persephone—”
“Have we mentioned yet—”
“How glad we are—”
“You introduced us,” They said together, causing laughter to erupt from the couple.
“I’m glad you two are enjoying yourselves. I haven’t seen Shippou have this much fun since he taught Rin’s brother and us.” She stated.
The twins looked at each other than them “Brother?” They asked
“I have a fraternal twin brother, but we can also do twin speak. It’s why Sephy is fluent.” Rin answered.
“We’ll have to team up—”
“All five of us—”
“Six if you count Master Shippou,” Fred finished grinning at his twin.
“Hmmm, maybe near the end of this tournament,” Persephone answered.
The twins and Rin cackled, causing a shiver of fear to run across the faculty. McGonagall and Snape both considered turning in their resignation letters. Somehow they knew this chaos would only get worse as the year went on.

Chapter 10: Conversations with a Dragon
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Persephone resided in the champions' tent, holding her miniature dragon in her hands. She was stroking the mini Horntail with her thumb to calm her nerves. While she knew she could speak to the dragons, she was still nervous. Just because one could speak another’s language didn’t mean they were required to listen.
Dragons especially had no reason to listen to anything smaller than them, let alone a human. Worse yet, these dragons were mothers, and she highly doubts they agreed to put their young at risk. Mothers would rather chew off their own wing than risk the safety of their young. No wonder they were reacting far more viciously than usual.
Charlie Weasley, who she met only a few days when the guttural screams were becoming too much for her to ignore, agreed with her on how stupid this challenge was. He told her the original plan was to bring male dragons and a hoard for them to guard. He didn’t know who approved of the sudden change or why, but when he found out, he was feeding them to the mothers.
And when she discovered he was the only one to cast protections on the eggs, she became livid. She raged at the handlers, threatening to emasculate them. If any, any of the eggs ended up lost because of their incompetence.
“Ooof, that’s going to cost miss Delacour some points…wait a second, none of the eggs are harmed. Did she cast a charm to protect them?” Bagman, the idiot announced.
Persephone smiled to herself; it would seem the handlers had taken her threat seriously…good. Now she could properly focus on her match and how she would speak to the Horntail. Unfortunately, said Horntail was also a queen. This meant if she fucked up, there would be more than her life at stake.
“Miss Potter, it’s almost time for you to head out.” Professor McGonagall said, bringing her out of her musings.
“Very well, professor, no sense in putting it off any longer.” Persephone agreed as she exited out of the tent to find the mother chained down and raging.
“Well, that won’t do,” She muttered, casting a projection charm on her voice, before bowing low to the ground.
She waited with bated breath for the dragon to acknowledge her. Persephone didn’t care how long she took; there was no requirement that she had to try and win these challenges. Her main concern was to live.
The Horntail paused in her rage as she smelt something familiar waft into the edge of her territory. Lowering her head, she noticed the young witch who had threatened the more incompetent of her servants. Though after this event, the only one who deserved such a title was the fire-haired one.
“Who are you to enter my territory” She snarled, not in anger but in a warning.
“Apologies, your highness. If it were up to me, I would not be here but rather spending time with my mate.” She stayed lowered.
“You talk as if you do not wish to be here, yet all of the others who have faced my fellow mothers did. Why is that?” She narrowed her eyes.
“Before I answer, might I ask if you know what the tri-wizard tournament is?” While this tournament was held by the magic enclaves, it was initially a coming of age test, not a test of glory they made it out to be.
“Is that what this is? I thought the wizards stopped after magic took one too many children in response to manipulating her trials.” She puffed out smoke in annoyance. Honestly, you’d think these wizards would learn from their mistakes, idiots.
“Yes, and when the goblet was choosing champions, I happened to be on the other side of the world, where no tracking magics could find me.”
“Hmmm, you did not wish to enter this tournament?”
“No, I was perfectly content back at Gravity Falls.”
“I see. Tell me child, what task was it they set you out to complete.” She was curious; so far, the child had been respectful and proved far more capable than others thrice her age.
“They wanted us to collect a golden egg from your nest, but honestly, my plan was to…not anger whichever dragon I received, and since you happen to be queen well, the goal was never to get near your nest,” Persephone explained.
“Rise child, and answer me one more question, why do you smell of the Fallen Star and Death?”
Fallen star? She knew why she smelled as Death, seeing as how she held their mark, but who…oh right.
“If you look up in the stands to my right, you’ll see a boy about my age with blue hair, a tail, and possibly fangs. He is my mate, his biological father is the Fallen Star, his mother was a human who was a part of the exorcist guild.” Persephone pointed towards the stands where Rin resided.
“As for why I smell of Death? I’m marked by them. we’re unsure if this means I will become an avatar or servant later in my life or if this was because I survived the killing curse, either way, I carry their mark on my soul.” Persephone wanted to show her but didn’t want any of the wizards to know.
“Very well, stay there, child, and do not move.” The Horntail ordered before she grabbed the false egg into her mouth, walking towards Persephone and placing it gently on the ground at her feet.
“Take the false egg and return to your tent.” She commanded as she turned towards her nest.
“If your highness would like, I could remove the chain around your neck.” Persephone offered.
“And if there was a way to safely remove all of my clutch, I would take you up on your offer.” She said as she curled protectively around her hatchlings, watching the child bow before walking towards the entrance.
Such a respectful child, not many knew how to properly speak to one, such as herself. She would have to convince the fire-haired one to bring her for visits. Maybe then she could get the servants to listen to her and the others properly.
Notes:
So I love dragons and I honestly hated when Rowling killed those eggs, among other things she's done which is why in my fics I will almost always mention how no eggs ended up destroyed, and that both twins survived unless it's set after the battle. so yeah.
Chapter 11: Interview reveals a Hidden Contract

Chapter Text
“Miss Potter, what was that!” Professor McGonagall exclaimed, clutching at her heart.
“That was how you properly interact with a dragon.” She responded.
“I think she meant the fact you were speaking a guttural version of Parsel Tounge,” Cedric spoke up.
“Yeah, and?” Persephone quirked an eyebrow up in response.
“Er, it’s known as a dark trait, a mark of a dark wizard,” Cedric answered cautiously
Persephone just stared at him, then to McGonagall, then back again before she burst out laughing.
“Yo—you’re trying to tell me that knowing a different language is dark? Or I guess in your country you mean evil, right? I mean, I know Voldefart had an obsession with snakes, but that doesn’t make them evil. Snakes are distantly related dragons; with enough practice, one can speak with them, with an accent, but I digress.”
Persephone walked away from the gaping English wizards to converse with her fellow champions (except Cedric) when she was stopped by a rather annoying reporter.
“Miss Potter, if I could just have a minute of your time.” She gripped Persephone’s arm; Persephone sighed, bringing her phone out. She explained to Shippou she would talk to Rita to get her off her back and have the lawyers at the ready.
“All right, Rita, I’ll answer some of you’re questions, but I warn you now I’ll be recording our entire conversation, and if you print anything, anything that’s false or taken out of context, I’ll set my lawyers on you.” Persephone grinned sharply at her, making the reporter gulp in fear.
“Ri—right, let’s get on with it, shall we?” Rita leads her off to a press tent.
Most of her questions were rather mundane. Mostly asking her where she was living, what schooling she went to, who the boy she arrived with was, how she got the egg. Some she declined to answer like where she lived, but the others were simple to answer. She didn’t mention Rin was her soul mate though they wanted to keep that under wraps.
That is until she heard the next question out of Rita’s mouth.
“And what are your opinions on your betrothal to Ronald Weasly?”
“I’m sorry, I must have misheard you but did you say betrothal.” Persephone grit her teeth.
“Er, yes, it was arranged by your magical Guardian and his mother. You didn’t know?” Rita didn’t know why, but she suddenly felt as if more than her life was at risk.
“Which Guardian are you talking about? Because last I checked, Shiro would never sign a betrothal contract.” She seethed
“Dumbledore?” Rita squeaked
“Dumbledore? That manipulative bastard hasn’t been my magical Guardian since I was four years old!” Persephone snapped.
“Well, yes, but the contract was written up when you were 2 and still under his jurisdiction.”
“RIIIIIN, SHIPPOU,” Persephone screamed.
“My life, what’s wrong” “Percy, what did she do?” They both asked when they popped into the tent.
“Tell them what you told me.” She ordered Rita.
Rita, after much stuttering and blundering, repeated what she had said to the Potter heiress.
“Oh, is that all?” Shippou waved nonchalantly, while Rin well Rin burst into flames all the while growling.
“Calm down, Okumura. There’s a straightforward fix to all of this. If you two are willing to reveal what you are to each other?” Shippou placated.
“If it gets rid of this contract, I’m fine with it, Rin?” Persephone asked her mate
“Go ahead, My life.” Rin snarled, trying to reign in his flames.
“You might want to write this Down Miss Skeeter; it’ll be quite the scoop,” Shippou drawled in amusement.
“See, the reason my Guardianship changed hands was because I met my soul mate when I was four. He saved me from my relatives. My soulmate is Rin Okumura, the person standing next to me and who I arrived with.” She explained.
“Which means any and all marriage or betrothal contracts have become null and void thanks to the ancient laws of magic.” Rin gave a fanged grin as he watched the woman write everything down quickly.
Rita might have been terrified before, but now she had such a delicious scoop, and she didn’t even need to add her personal touches!
Notes:
Did I use Rita as a way to introduce the overdone marriage contract trope? Yes, Yes I did but it adds to the story.
Chapter 12: Ronald gets Owned
Notes:
What's this three chapters? in one night...or morning I work graveyard shift so I'm kind of awake all night and asleep all day. kind of like a vampire but without all the drawbacks, and without the immortality, as far as I know anyway I ain't gonna test that. Also remember when I said I wasn't gonna update unless I had three chapters written. I was serious about that. which means if you see and update it's prob gonna be followed with two more chapters, after I edit them. If ya'll thought my grammar is bad with current version you do not wanna see the unedited version. I'm also planning to go back through my other stories and clean them up a bit so yeah.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Thanks to the newest issue of the Daily prophet, the entire great hall was in an uproar. Many were wondering about the legitimacy of the couples’ bond. Some were criticizing Dumbledoor for interfering with house matters. Others were questioning how he was ever Persephone’s magical Guardian in the first place.
In other words, the great hall was in chaos, and Persephone was loving it.
The twins walked up to the bonded couple, looking both ashamed and scared. Already Persephone could tell they had no idea what their mother had done, nor about the contract.
“Don’t worry, you two, I know you didn’t know about the contract. If you had, you would have warned me.”
“Oh, thank chaos,” Fred exclaimed.
“We were terrified you were going to be angry at us.” George ran his fingers through his hair.
“Yeah, and you two are one of the most entertaining people to come to Hogwarts.” Fred continued. Apparently, they had been so terrified their twin speak had been thrown off.
“What are you two doing with that Liar.” Ronald Weasly came up, screaming at his brothers.
“Excuse you—”
“How dare you insult—”
“Lady Potter like that.” And apparently, anger brought it back.
“Well, maybe she shouldn’t lie about being bonded just to get out of an obligation.” Ron snarled.
“You know Ronnie—”
“You may be our little brother—”
“But right now we want—”
“Absolutely nothing to do with you.”
“Doesn’t matter, I’m not here for you idiots. Oi asshole.” Ron called out to Rin, who was busy eating a bowl of rice. “How much she pay you? Or is she a whore on top of a liar?” He sneered.
Rin set his food down slowly and was going to kill the Weasly boy when he was stopped by his mate. ‘let me handle this,’ she seemed to say.
“You know Ronald, I can call you Ronald, can’t I? I’m gonna call you Ronald. If I hadn’t have met Rin, I honestly wouldn’t have minded being tied to the Weasly family. Bill’s a successful curse breaker and rather valuable to the goblins. Charlie’s a very successful dragon handler. Percy is obviously going places in the ministry, and the twins are fantastic for a laugh and can think outside the box.” Persephone smiled at the twins as she calmly explained all of this.
“Unfortunately, the contract was rather specific in naming you. I mean, what exactly have you accomplished? What do you bring to the table? I bring forth my titles and money, my prestige, but you bring nothing. Even if you did, why would I ever want to be with a misogynistic, jealous child who obviously has an inferiority complex and anger issues when I could have Rin?” She smiled at her mate, ignoring the squawks of anger coming from Ron.
“Rin, who brought me to safety, Rin whose protected me, cared for me, loved me as only a soulmate can. Why would I ever give that up for you.” She glared at Ron in disdain. Ron was frozen in place, embarrassed, angry, and sad all at the same time. He wasn’t sure what emotion to feel.
Finally, he turned on his heel and walked out of the great hall before breaking into a run when everyone began clapping and cheering at his expense. Briefly, Ron wondered if this is how Hermione had felt in their first year.
“Good riddance. Maybe he’ll learn some humility.” Persephone sat next to Rin.
“That’s rather doubtful, Potter.” Draco slid up next to her.
“Malfoy, what do I owe the pleasure.” She rolled her eyes as she picked imaginary lint off her skirt.
“I just wanted to say thank you. Ever since we started the first year, he’s been going on about how he’ll be the next Lord Potter and how he’ll get rid of all the dark wizards. We’ve all tried to correct his behavior, but Dumbledoor interferes every time. I’m glad to see someone finally take him to task.”
“Hmph, I had to suffer people like him when I was four. I refuse to do so again.” She picked up her tea, sipping at it.
“Besides, it was either I chew him out, or Rin would have broken him.”
“Er, and by broken, you mean?”
“If Rin was in a good mood, just some bones, but since he insulted me…”
“He would have been missing a few limbs, maybe an eye or two.” Rin finished for her. He was still tempted to hunt down the little shit, but Persephone had started to scratch at his scalp.
“Remind me to never piss either of you off.” Draco deadpanned.
“Mhm, you’ve gotten close, but so long as you avoid insulting either of us as he did, you should be fine.” Persephone scratched a particular spot that got Rin to break out in purrs.
“So you’re not gonna demand I be nice to you or anything like that,” Draco quirked his head to the side in amazement.
“Malfoy, you’re a noble, just like me. We live for underhanded insults and backhanded comments. It’s one of the only ways to relieve stress in high society.” Persephone rolled her eyes.
“You’re nothing like I thought you might be.” He mused
“Draco, I was taught how to be a noble by my uncle. Do you know who my uncle is?” Persephone quirked her eyebrow up.
“No.”
“Sesshomaru Taichou.” She shrugged.
Draco’s eyes widened in shock. “Shit”
Notes:
I did say Ron bashing. I also may end up having a redemption arc for him? I'm not sure. Also, I don't know if that comment about nobles is true I just like a sassy character so hopefully, I didn't offend anyone. anyway hope you guys enjoyed this triple update
Chapter 13: Ron Breaks Down
Notes:
So I had absolutley no plans for this happening but it happened and I'm going to role with it. Anyways Trigger warning for mental breakdown.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Ron didn’t know where he was running to, only that he needed to get away. He needed to disappear from all the jeers and laughter. He thought he’d thought being Potters betrothed would have allowed him for vengeance. Would put him above those who judged him or hurt him. All it ended up doing was giving him an inflated ego and making him a bully.
What should he do? Should he call his mother? No, she’s one of the reasons he’s in this mess. His father? No, he wouldn’t be much help either, mom had him by the balls.
“Ronnie?” Charlie asked his younger brother.
“Am I, am I really that useless?” Ron asked his brother.
“Wha—Ron, is this about the daily prophet?”
“No—yes. I just—You and Bill have already accomplished a lot. Percy’s a genius; the twins are obviously going to be successful business owners, and me? All I’ll be remembered as is a fucking bully. Someone who tried to interfere with a soul bond.” Ron cried as his brother pulled him into a hug.
“Ron, I’ll be honest, bullying others is wrong, getting in the way of a bond is wrong, but it’s obvious on some level you regret it.”
“Yeah, I just for once I wanted other people to feel how I felt.” Ron sniffled as he wiped at his tears
“Ronnie...how long have you felt this way?”
“Since you and Bill graduated. Not at first, but as the years went by and the taunts grew, the more I found myself lacking.” Ron answered
“What about chess?”
“What about it?”
“Ronnie, you're fucking brilliant when it comes to chess or any game involving strategy, for that matter. Don’t you know that’s why I sent you those flyers?” Ron looked at his brother in confusion.
“What flyers?”
“The ones on tournaments? I even sent money to pay for the registration fee.”
“I—when was this exactly?” Ron asked him.
Charlie told him the dates, and Ron scowled.
“That was around the same time mom bought Percy new items or the twins or Ginny.”
“What” Charlie hissed
“Yeah.”
“I see. Listen, there is another tournament around Yule if you can show you’re getting better and apologize to Lady Potter and her mate along with everyone else. Then I’ll take you myself and pay for it, deal.” Charlie asked, holding his hand out
“Nu-uh, we’re paying for some of it too.” The twins popped out of the forest saying this at the same time.
“I thought you two wanted nothing to do with me.”
“That was then—
“This is now—
“Besides, it’s obvious—
“We need to have
“A few words with
“Mother dearest.
They grinned before going to console their younger brother. They wished he would have come to them sooner. They could have helped him out before things got too bad. He’s burned a lot of bridges, and it’ll take a long time before they were even close to being repaired.
“Thanks, you two, and I’m sorry.”
“Hey, don’t apologize to us, apologize to them.” The twins hooked their thumb behind them towards the mated couple.
“I—are you going to hurt me?” Ron squeaked in fear. He would deserve it.
“So long as you don’t repeat what you did in the great hall, no.” Persephone stared hard at the boy. She knew something was clouding his judgment, what with all the coal tars surrounding him.
“No—I, I’m not sure even why I said those things. Well, no, I’m pretty sure part of it is like you said about me having an inferiority complex, but—“
“I don’t need an apology, not when you’re clearly in the wrong state of mind to give it.” Persephone held her hand up, silencing him. Ron frowned at her response.
“However, if you really want to improve yourself here.” She handed him a card for her therapist.
“I can’t—
“I’ll pay for it so long as you make an effort.” Persephone interrupted
“Why?” Ron furrowed his eyebrows together.
“Because you appear to be more of a victim of this whole mess than a cohort. Also, I know what it feels like to both be treated and think you're worthless. It’s taken me years to get where I am today, I still have episodes, but Rin helps me through.” Persephone explained to the redhead.
“I-all right, I’ll go...thank you.”
“Don’t mention it; now then I’m off to see a dragon.” Persephone turned on her heel and walked away with her mate.
Notes:
So yeah I wrote Ron as someone who was a victim of his mother's greed. Is he going to get better, eh, like anything it takes time, he'll still make mistakes but from here on out he'll actually listen and learn and apologize when he realizes it or makes amends. That's the plan anyway.
Also, I made a Discord, it's just one and it's for everyone who enjoy all my fics. Once I get the hang of Discord I'll try and make a server for either each fic or each fandom. Thanks for reading.

Chapter 14: The start of Ron's therapy
Notes:
I held this urge to write his first therapy session hopefully next chapter it'll be back with Persephoen or Rin. Some of this is from my own experience with therapy.
Chapter Text
“Ronald Weasley?” Bobby called in the waiting room looking for his new patient, who looked up at him nervously.
“Y—yeah?” He stuttered; gods, when was the last time he did that.
“Are you ready to come back, or do you need some more time?” Bobby asked in concern.
“I’m ready, just nervous, I guess.” Ron shrugged as he rose from the couch.
“No judgment here, man. This is a safe space.” Bobby comforted the young teen, who attempted a smile.
“Don’t force anything either, ok? Express whatever you’re feeling.” Bobby asked as he opened the door to his office.
“I—I’ll try,” Ron answered.
“That’s all I ask, now then; for the first session, we’ll go over what it is you want to work on. Then in the next sessions, we’ll explore how to work on them and finding the root of the problem. However, if you want, we can use this time for you to talk about whatever you want to get off your chest.” Bobby explained
“I think I’d like to go over my problems,” Ron answered.
“Alright, then. It says you want to work on your anger issues and your feelings of inadequacy. How would you like to accomplish this?”
“I think talking about it might work first? I’m not sure.” Ron was wringing his hands nervously. He wasn’t sure how this new adult would treat him, especially with everything he’d done. All the people he treated horribly—”
“Ron, Ron. You back with us man.” Bobby inquired gently.
“Yeah, sorry, sometimes my mind wanders.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s something rather common for everyone.” Bobby explained
“Wait, really?” Ron asked in shock; he was usually met with a whack to the back of his head when he spaced like that around other adults. Not his siblings, thankfully, but still.
“Yes, really. So, when did you start feeling like this?” Bobby asked.
“I guess it all started when I was five…” Ron began to explain with the earliest memory of when he felt worth less than his siblings.
Chapter Text
“Percy~” Rin called as he waltzed up to his mate, taking her by the hand and bringing her up into a spin.
“Yes, darling?” Persephone smirked at her mate's antics.
“I just heard some interesting information. Apparently, there is a ball being hosted for this event.” Rin gave her a fanged grin.
“Oh really~” Persephone purred
“Yep, so” Rin flicked his wrists, summoning some crystallized flowers made from his own demonic energy then spelling out
“Will you be my date to the Yule Ball?”
“Of course I will, you big dummy.” Persephone giggled, taking the flowers. She loved when Rin put together things like this.
“My princess has accepted my invitation; I am overcome with joy.” Rin picked her up, spinning around. Was this whole thing cheesy as hell? Yes, yes, it was. Did that mean the two of them would ever grow tired of it? No, not really.
“Ok, but aren’t you two already soulmates?” Ron asked from his spot at the table. Not rudely, mind you, because he was curious. His parents seemed to be more like roommates than well husband and wife most of the time.
“Well, yes, but we like doing things like this. It’s fun and our way of expressing our feelings for each other.” Persephone answered the boy. He was trying and still had slip-ups, but he was doing much better than a month ago.
“Oh...mom and dad never seem to do that.” Ron creased his eyebrows together, thinking on things gaining a look from the twins.
Both wondered if Ron was about to figure out something they had so long ago but couldn’t speak of unless the other party knew. Their mother had their father trapped in a fake bond. They didn’t know who their father was supposed to be bonded to, but they knew it wasn’t Molly.
“Fred, George, I think we may need to talk,” Ron told his brothers, who nodded to him.
Ron had remembered a letter his mother sent him at the beginning of the year. She’d told him about a spell to point out your soul mate and instantly bind the two together without touch. She never told him what it was, but he had a feeling such magic was far blacker than she let on.

“Alright, Ron, what did you wish to speak about?” Fred asked
“Why are we in Shippou—sans tent?” Ron asked.
“Because we don’t trust Dumbledore now out with it,” Greg answered. He could feel the restrictive magic breaking.
“I think mom bound dad using a dark spell to make him think they were soulmates.” Ron blurted out.
“What makes you think that.” They asked him.
“This,” Ron held the letter their mother had written to him out. The twins snatched it reading it over carefully. Feeling as the magic’s restrictive hold left them.
“You’re right. She did.”
“We suspected a long time ago.”
“Snuck into her room.”
“Found the spell.”
“But she found us.”
“And cast a bind so we could only talk to the ones who knew.”
“But I don’t have such a bind.” Ron blinked as realization then horror dawned on him.
“We need to tell heiress Potter. Mom won’t stop even—“
“No need, young Weasley. I’ve already contacted the necessary parties involved,” Shippou spoke, entering the tent.
“Master, but we thought—“
“What I needed the magic to think yes.” Shippou smiled at the boys before turning to Ron.
“I did not have much hope for you at the beginning. You made my pelt bristle, and most are unable to do so. Yet it’s obvious to me you are a victim as well.” Shippou kindly comforted the boy.
“I think that’s thanks to heiress Potter. I may not have been able to get my head straight otherwise.”
“She is quite the kind soul even with what happened to her as a child.” Shippou mused, watching his kits as they played in the fields. What he’d adopted those two when they started learning pranks from him, so sue him.
Notes:
Yes I know I'm making Molly out to be the bad guy. Which honestly is weird considering she is one of my favorite characters in the series. Anyways hope you guys enjoyed this latest update(s).
Chapter 17
Notes:
Gonna be real it gets rather angsty in this chapter and sad I teared up writing it. Why do I keep doing things like this.
Chapter Text
Molly sat in her chair, seething as she watched Aurors search her house. Arthur was running late and wouldn’t pick up the floo call. Honestly, she had no idea what that man was doing, but he shouldn’t have signed off on a search warrant for their own house!
Not that she thought they could find her spell. No only a Prewitt or skilled curse breaker would be able to find such a thing.
“Bill? What are you doing home? I thought you had business with the goblins?” Molly asked her oldest son in confusion.
“I did, but they let me off early.” Bill lied through his teeth. They didn’t let him off early. They had him sign a contract so he would be able to effectively break any curse and observe while reporting without his testimony being questioned.
“That’s wonderful, and I apologize for the mess. For some reason, the ministry believes we are holding illegal spells or magic. Can you believe them?” Molly simpered towards her oldest, looking for sympathy’s
“Considering who holds the minister in their pocket, yeah. Look, I’ve had a long day. Would it be alright if I went up to my room and unpacked?” Bill asked more from the leading Auror than his mother.
“Of course, sweetie, I’m sure they're done with your room.” Molly nodded, hugging her son. Bill returned the hug. For all her faults, she was still his mother, and he prayed to every deity out there that his mother hadn’t performed such black magic.
When Molly had released him, Bill grabbed his bag and hurried upstairs, but instead of going to his room, he went to his parents. Entering the room, he cast a curse detection charm and found a string of wards around his parent's bed and his mother’s vanity. Carefully unraveling each ward so as not to set off anything, Bill broke the wards and cursed silently when he found his mother’s notes.
She’d done it. She’d cursed their father into a false bond and thus her children. No wonder they all feel empty, no wonder they all had rotten luck when it came to relationships. That was the price of a false bond. Until their father's true soulmate was found and accepted them, they would all continue living in this way.
“Bill, you good?” One of his coworkers asked, causing Bill to wipe at his eyes. He hadn’t even realized he’d been crying.
“No, she, she condemned all of us. She cast the spell and then locked him in a ward schematic so she wouldn’t need to renew it as much. I just—how, how can someone seem to care so much for us yet do something this horrendous?” Bill asked the man.
“I don’t know, but We’ll figure it out.” The coworker soothed the sobbing man. Bill was a good man and an excellent curse breaker. It was unfortunate he was assigned to this case.
