“I thought you didn’t agree to having peace with the Uchiha?” Hashirama mentioned, confused.
“Didn’t I?” Tobirama asked distractedly, crossing out a section of drying ink. “I must’ve had a cold.”
“What?”
“What?”
Hashirama blinked.
“What does having a cold have to do with…?” He trailed off, brows furrowing.
Tobirama blinked at him.
“Nevermind...."

Summary
When Kushina notices that Obito's a kinesthetic learner like her, she tries to ignore it. Really, she does—but Minato has no idea what he's doing when it comes to teaching him, and Kushina can't let the kid's potential be wasted like that. She takes on Obito as a student, then, and somehow gets Rin as one too. It changes... pretty much everything.
Kushina can’t shake that moment from from her mind. She can’t help but to remember all the times she’s heard him referred to as unmotivated, or lazy, or untalented.
Because now the pieces have clicked together, it’s become overwhelmingly clear that Obito is like her, but he doesn’t have the fallbacks she has. He doesn’t have the strength of being a jinchuuriki to back him up, or the chakra chains she’s had from the beginning. Worst of all, she thinks, he’s been pitted up against the most talented prodigy of his generation since day one, constantly compared and found to be lesser.
And Kushina knows Minato, knows he’ll do everything he can to make his kids get along, to eliminate any rivalries that might arise in the name of teamwork. That’s all fine and good, she supposes, but it’s not what Obito needs.

Summary
His alertness is a sudden thing, a quick snap from sleeping to full consciousness. He draws an ever-present kunai from his belt, moves smoothly to a crouch.
“Katon no jutsu!” He hears, yelled with reckless abandon. He waits for the flash of flame of the technique, but none comes.
Kakashi shifts forward on his perch, allowing him a clear view of the river. There’s a boy stood next to it, on the opposite side from Kakashi. He’s maybe a couple of years older than Kakashi, dressed in navy and… orange?
“Katon no jutsu!” He says again, and this time Kakashi can see why there was no flame; as the boy all but shouts the words, he forms his hands into the sloppiest attempt at a tiger seal Kakashi has ever seen.
Kakashi can’t help his snort at the rather pathetic attempt, and the other boy whirls to him in the worst display of coordination Kakashi has ever seen, turning so fast that he ends up nearly falling over into the water. The movement lacks any of the grace characteristic of a shinobi, flailing and full of wasted motion. Kakashi’s pretty sure he’s seen two-year-olds move with more grace.

Summary
Namikaze Minato has always known he was going to be a shinobi. He wasn’t born into a family of them, was born to two perfectly normal parents who would have rather had nothing to do with any of it. But Namikaze Minato had always known he was going to be a shinobi, and they would have to learn to accept that.
They were dissapointed, of course, but they acquiesed when they realized he wasn’t going to budge on this, and had him entered into the academy.
Namikaze Minato has always wanted to be a shinobi, and it shows in his grades, in the excellence he brings to every skill. He graduates top of his class, two years early, and he feels a sort of pride as he ties his hitai-ate on his head. He’s not ecstatic, like some of the other kids are, but he’s… happy. It’s a quiet happiness, the feeling of something settling into place. Namikaze Minato has always known he was going to be a shinobi, and now he is.
