I think of the bookmarks section as a review section as well. While the author can see them and decide whether to keep it in mind or not, they’re ultimately for the reader and (obviously) the bookmarker. I don’t need permission to give criticism, put a negative or unwanted bookmark tag, and so on.
“Use private bookmarks!” you might say. That’s just one of many ways amateur writers can basically say “don’t like, don’t read” or “preps stop flaming ma story ok!”
