Summary
This story was hard to write, as it is up there with slasher movies, except it deals with rape at a wayward teenage outdoor rave that included drugs and alcohol. Not to mention, an angry warrior who doesn’t know how to deal with any of it as he fails to help his deaf wife maneuver through a hearing medical world when it is most important, despite being on Betazed, so that she and Chakotay can do what they need to do to help their daughter. As he fails horribly at disciplining his daughter and dealing with her rape, Celesta takes over in assisting Rhianna to get Taya the medical and psychological help she needs without any communication mishaps, with human or Betazoid medical personnel. Does he finally come around to face what happened to his daughter, so that he can help his wife get justice for their daughter or does he ruin any chances of finding the one who raped his daughter, so that he faces trial? Can he save his relationship with daughter? And maybe his wife too? Will Taya, as a CODA, develop a closer bond with her deaf mother or will they become further apart when the struggle for assistance becomes more traumatic?
Chapter three has the trigger scene, if one chooses to read, but skip the trauma chapter.
