His gray-blue eyes lift to meet Clark’s, and for a brief moment, the world seems to stop. His gaze is clear, cold, but not harsh. There is no judgment in it, not even anger—only silent understanding.
“I didn’t know,” Clark answers, his voice trembling. There’s exhaustion in his tone, a quiver born not of fear but of disappointment—disappointment in himself. His usually calm expression looks lost, disoriented, as if every word spoken by Bruce were cutting deeper than a blade.

Then Bruce steps closer. His ungloved hand, cold and steady, rests on Clark’s shoulder with unexpected gentleness. No words follow—only a tentative touch.
