Lan Wangji didn’t know how the sects could’ve done it, how they could have entered into the Burial Mounds and done what they did when they saw the inhabitants. When the only army they saw were the elderly and women, likely wielding gardening supplies as weapons.

Summary

Summary
Xiao Xingchen sits on an elevated floor in a teahouse. It seems even the staff at this mundane establishment could tell he was no normal man, that this soul belonged nowhere on the ground with the rest of the common folk. He should have always been treated like this.
He’s wearing his beautiful white robes that wrap around his frame and then billow at his sleeves, Xue Yang catches glimpses of his narrow waist as he lifts a cup to his lips. He’s not wearing that oversized outer layer that hides that figure under loose fabric. His sword is not wrapped with white cloth, as it was in his past life, and instead lay delicately beside him and the silver shines in full glory against the sunlight.
Xue Yang can’t move from the entrance, because Xiao Xingchen looks more perfect than he had ever remembered.

This is set during the Yi City arc, but things unfolded differently. The fight between Song Lan and Xue Yang never took place. Instead, Xue Yang, for reasons of his own, allowed Song Lan to meet Xiao Xingchen. The three of them ended up living together in an uneasy cohabitation.
One night, as usual, Xue Yang retreated to his lone coffin bed, away from the two Daozhang. By morning, he was gone.

Xiao Xingchen will have to face the fact that not everyone can be saved, Xue Yang will have to come to terms with his conflicting sides. And who could've guessed that Xue Yangs latest mortal enemy would find him and make things worse.
This might be a canon rewrite type thing but less canon central.
