Vox had always known Alastor was attractive; he had even partaken in the act of being attracted to him a time or two, but seeing him like this—transient incarnadine burning his newly realized color receptors back into particulate—left him all but stunned (an insect lured in by the saccharine sweetness of a sundew). Images of saints—perfect, patient frescos made impossibly more brilliant by the sun as it shone through stained glass—popped up behind his eyes as they dragged along the ruby spread of Alastor’s shoulders and chest. He had never realized how religious the angles of them could be until now.
“You ought not to say things like that, you know,” Alastor crooned, the rictus stretch of his smile even more captivating now that it had been given color. “It’s sacrilegious.”
