The first time Glenn left on tour after Morgan died, he rationalised that they needed money. It was an easy deflection of guilt; he needed money to keep Nick alive, Nick would survive not having Glenn around for a few weeks, but he wouldn’t survive there not being any food on the table, so, Glenn packed up his guitar and got onto the big stage and did enough drugs that the next few weeks were hazy at best.
That first time, it was just two weeks. Two weeks where Glenn was gone, and then he was right back to home, spending tons of time with Nick and even teaching him a few guitar chords, cheering him on as his little fingers plucked at the strings.
But the trips kept getting longer, and the rationalisation kept changing.
