Summary
His blindfold was suddenly ripped off. Seeing Nate - or this monstrosity Nate had become, tearmarks smudged down his cheeks in makeup - every nerve in his body felt on high alert, and panic rose in him more and more as he struggled uselessly against his bonds, the ropes digging into his skin.
If he didn’t break out, he was going to die here. Every second that passed was bringing him closer to his demise.
But it never came. Over the next hours - though to his racing mind, it felt like days - all this nightmare version of Nate did was… talk to him. Not even threateningly, for the most part, but almost more like they were old friends, and chatting about how much they were the same. And Nate kept touching him, too, in the same way. A reassuring hand on his shoulder. An encouraging arm thrown around him. And all it did was make the man feel worse, made him brace for the moment when that gentleness inevitably turned violent.
It would almost be funny, if he weren’t absolutely terrified: He was the one who had first seen that they were the same.
But it wasn’t supposed to be used against him.
