It all started when the gang joined Altea Academy, the most prestigious witch school that has been founded.
In other words it's a witch Keith, familiar Lance fic because I feel like it's usually written the other way around, and I have a very unique plan for this setting.
Think of this as a Soul Eater au but with witches and familiars instead of meisters and weapons.

When Lance returned to his apartment after a bad day, he found his annoying, bastard roommate sitting spread-legged on the sofa, watching TV.
Unceremoniously, Lance took the remote and turned off the television,
"I was watching," Keith said, bored, a tone that managed to further irritate the sorcerer.
He wore black leather pants and a white shirt. He seemed like the biker cliché.
He looked like a human being. But Lance knew.
That bastard was a demon. And, unfortunately, he was the sorcerer's familiar too.
"I don't care! Do you realize what you've done?""I teased you."
Lance blushed, remembering the mental images (very explicit, Kamasutra gay edition) that the demon had sent him while he was in the headmaster's office.

Summary
In this world, there are mages and there are familiars. Familiars have the ability to use lower magics and to shapeshift. Mages can use higher magics but only after they find their familiar. Each person has a soulmate, a mage or familiar they are supposed to bond to. It's a soulbond that allows them to feel each other's emotions and talk mind to mind. The soulbond can only be broken by death and often the other half of the bond soon follows.
Lance is a mage. He is out in the market one afternoon when he feels a tug on his soul. At the end of the tug, he finds his familiar, a man with beautiful purple eyes and long dark hair. But instead of it being a happy occasion like it should be it turns into a tragedy when his soulmate turns and runs away from him. Why did Lance's soulmate run from him? “Do you have a deathwish?” The phoenix answers him with a question this time, apparently intent on dodging the question about its name. Maybe it’s for the best, Lance’s mama always warned him that he tended to get attached to things once he’d named them. He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath.
He isn’t going to get attached this time.
Making sure that he’s still holding the phoenix’s attention, he reaches down and pushes his cloak aside, then lifts his shirt. There, bright red and ugly against his hip, are three long slashes. They aren’t scars, they aren’t healed in the slightest, they’re still red and open wounds. They don’t hurt, not in the physical sense, but Lance can’t help the repulsion he feels whenever he looks at them.

Hey guys so this is on an indefinite hiatus at the moment because I feel like I'm moving through the plot points wayyyy to quickly and I would like to rewrite it with a proper storyline and not just publish chapters as I finish them. I will come back to this sometime for a rewrite but I can't say when that is as I want to improve my writing skills. I will be continuing the text post work and I'll write more one shots. I also have some wips (YouTuber au's cause I'm a sucker for those) and the first chapter should be out relatively soon. I'm so sorry but thank you to all who stuck with this and I hope to see y'all back here when this starts again. Thanks heaps guys.

Summary
Keith tries to avoid all things supernatural- especially witches. And he refuses to become one’s familiar or study witchcraft. But that seems to be becoming a lot harder with Shiro’s persistent nagging and his cursed nightmares. Just to add to the stress of Samhain coming up, Pidge has requested that he tutor one of their friends. If Pidge is both friends with this guy and thinks that Keith can tutor him easily, Pidge’s friend must be a tolerable human being. Right? To Keith’s disappointment, he’s neither tolerable or human.
Meanwhile: When another witch and their familiars come after Lance, he finds himself unable to defend himself properly without the help of a familiar. Lance is terrible at finding a familiar though and even worse at making a soul connection. Just to add to the stress of an inevitable attack coming on Samhain, Pidge has requested that he tutor one of their friends. If Pidge is both friends with this guy and thinks that Lance can tutor him easily, Pidge’s friend must be a friendly human being. Right? To Lance’s disappointment, he’s an available familiar but he’s not friendly at all.
What they both find is that all they found foul is fairer than they thought.

He's dreamed of the day when he would be able to perform bonded magic, but hides a dark secret that could ruin everything. Keith is a familiar who's seen a little too much of the world. He's been paired with witches multiple times and each one has forced and broken a bond on him, so now he swears off ever letting himself be paired again.
When they meet, though, Lance triggers something in Keith and it scares the hell out of him. A part of him desperately wants to be paired, but he's not sure he can take rejection one more time.
