Summary
“Why does it bother you so much? That I want to do it here?” Regulus asks when he’s wrestled his nerves back under control. Barty knows him well enough to read his tells that much at least.
Scoffing, Barty looks up into the clear blue skies. The day is irritatingly delightful, no cloud in sight, as if the whole of Scotland decided to reserve one of its five sunny days a year for Regulus’ idiotic proposal.
Well, nothing’s new then—the world has always rooted against him, and cheered James and Regulus on like it’s nobody’s business. It’s only natural that on Potter’s birthday they get the best bloody weather since they scrambled out of the deep gloom of winter.
“I just think it lacks fanfare.”
“It’s his birthday.” Regulus frowns again, a wrinkle splitting his freckled forehead. “We’re climbing the highest peak in all of the UK. I don’t know, it just—It seemed like a good idea.”
“Whatever you say, Reggie.”
