A compassionate and young prosecutor, Frankie Zhang hadn't expected his life to be easy. A severe injury he suffered on the day of the bar exam took away his corporate aspirations.
Now, he is sworn-in and assigned to General Crimes Bureau at the Manhattan DA's Office. Under the leadership of Richard Winters, Frankie and his colleagues are presented with some of the darkest parts of humanity. But he endures-he cooks and bakes for his loved ones, he takes care of everyone around him, and, most importantly, he never surrenders his will to fight.
Furthermore, paralegal Eddie Jones, responsible for showing Frankie how the office functions, quickly becomes Frankie's (literal, at one point) partner-in-crime. In turn, Frankie teaches him how people can always start over.
Frankie thought the courtroom would be his sole arena. Instead, by the end of the week, he finds himself married to Ronald Speirs.

Eugene is freshly divorced and outgrowing the life he had painstakingly made for himself after returning from war. Merriell is grieving, aimless, roaming the length of the Pacific coast looking for a place to collect himself. The first time they speak, Eugene is suffering a late summer nosebleed. Merriell had just pawned his mother's earrings for first month's rent. He moves in the same day.
