窗外，堪萨斯平原的暮色正缓慢沉降。夕阳把最后的光晕涂抹在蒙尘的玻璃上，让整个世界看起来像浸泡在黏稠的橘子酱里。客厅渐渐被阴影填满，只有电视屏幕上的雪花点还在不知疲倦地闪烁，声音压得极低，像一只困在墙壁里的虫子，发出持续而细弱的嗡鸣。
Sam陷在褪色的绒布沙发里，手边摊开的那本古籍厚得足以让任何人望而生畏。纸页边缘卷曲，散发出旧纸和岁月混合的苦涩气息。翻动书页的沙沙声在Dean走出浴室时戛然而止。他抬起头，动作不疾不徐，仿佛早已在氤氲水汽与渐浓暮色间等待多时。他的目光缓缓掠过Dean，从湿漉漉的金发到肩胛的旧伤，最后停在微微起伏的胸膛。昏暗光线在他眼中沉淀成更深的色调，像是林间多年不见天日的潭水。

He knows he can say no, and Thrawn will drop it immediately. As headstrong as Thrawn can be, he has always respected Pellaeon’s boundaries when it comes to personal things.
But the odd thing is, he isn’t entirely sure he wants to say no.

"Good, you're all here," a voice said. Jimmy recognized it immediately. It was the one that gave Impulse background information on their investigations. "I apologize for contacting you all with such short notice, but the situation is incredibly urgent and we cannot delay any longer. You've all been selected for this mission for your connections, knowledge and skills. We've lost contact with one of our teams, and their disappearance is highly unusual and we suspect something… otherworldly to be involved. We need you to follow their trail and look into the disappearances of Grian Xelqua, Impulse Essvee, Scar Goodtimes, Gem Tay, and Skizz Lehmann, otherwise known as the GIGGS team."
OR: The GIGGS team vanishes during an investigation under mysterious and disturbing circumstances. Jimmy Solidarity is brought onto a team to rescue them. They have two things to assist them: the final radio conversations, and a trail of cassette tapes left by Impulse, which document the experiences of the GIGGS team on their dark, horrifying journey as they try to survive and find help.

An empty, hungry sort of quiet. The sort of quiet that you only get when you hold your own breath for too long and all you can hear is your own blood in your ears.
The sort of quiet that just patently does not exist in a hospital unless something has gone very, very fucking wrong.
As Crystal rips the breathing tubes off of her face, she finds herself waking up with a gunshot wound healed in her stomach, yes, but also she finds herself gasping in the air of a dead world.
And when she grabs the closest thing she has to a weapon- a heavy bedpan, because she’s a detective, not a fucking idiot- she wanders out into the hallways to find lights flickering over dead bodies littered everywhere, gunshots through the heads, with a warning a warning painted on the walls in what might be read spray paint but the evidence points to a very different answer entirely: THE DEAD WALK THROUGH HERE.
