Without support (and not wanting to turn to the Fatui), Kaeya disappears to Fontaine where he gains employment in the oldest profession in Teyvat.

A year has passed since tragedy befell the Ragnvindr clan, its scion crudely coordinating a rampant dismantling of Fatui strongholds across Teyvat. Teyvat is a world full of history, gods, and ancient civilizations.
Although only the surface of this extensible source of knowledge is common to everyone, a few unwillingly chosen souls have been allowed to scratch past the layers of lies and naivety, often at the price of a tarnished mind and wretched destiny. It is well-known to them that being aware of the truth in such a world is fully equivalent to a death sentence.
However, some of these souls have chosen to challenge these unfair rules no matter the cost and have embarked on a predestined journey to knock over the giant chessboard. Together they defied Fate itself by following the trigger of their own misery, their puppet strings cut by a sharp blade and an even sharper will.
Brought together by much more than mere luck, these five heroes whose goal is common will send their enemies back to the very corners of the world to finally reach the other side of the board and take back the missing piece of their winning game. Sharzad knows that Inazuma will be the hardest thing she's had to face to far, but she's not about to stand there and let Yoimiya die at the hands of the increasingly oppressive Shogunate. As shadowy forces work behind the scenes and its surviving Archon continues to pursue her misguided form of Eternity, Inazuma sits on the brink of all-out civil war or even revolution.
And even as all this happens, Sharzad herself has issues to deal with. Between increasing preparations for her ascension to Queen, her powers have become unstable, changing and merging with her very being in a way they hadn't for two years. Zhongli told her removing the blocks on her powers would help her get stronger, but she wasn't anticipating so many changes so fast (her fathers might kill her when they learn about the dreams).
But Nabu Malikata once was an Angel and Amun once was a King, and Sharzad?
Sharzad is something else entirely.

It was funny, in a way. This was a man who'd drugged and struck her, who'd pointed a knife at her face and threatened her more times than she could count. And yet never had he felt more dangerous to her than he did right now.

Mona is leading a quiet, if troubled, life in Mondstadt. Scaramouche has taken up a new name and is on the run from his past. When the pair violently collide, the only option is to flee to Sumeru together.
It doesn't take long, however, for the true motivation behind Wanderer's journey to come to light. The Fatui are hunting him down, and he in turn dreams of the day when he can finally wrap his hands around the throat of the Doctor who betrayed him. For this, he needs Mona's help, and he will use everything in his power to keep her by his side.
