“Who else is supposed to show you what’s right, if not your own?” Tsking, then a slow shake of his head. “I thought we’d taught you better.” Syrup-thick and casual, like they were words barely worth saying.
Nero, feeling left out, wants to garner some experience.

There's making kids and there's having them. It is, surprisingly, not always the same thing. Add to that the fact that nobody ever managed to domesticate the older twin, and the younger is an absolute mess, this is going to be one hell of a trip.
Some of the oldest scars never had a chance to heal. A little book and a handful of words won't magically fix things, but that's okay. What they puzzle together from the collateral damage of the past might just be a whole lot nicer than anything "normal" out there could ever hope to be.
