There are many similarities between what Jean and Neil have, and what Kevin and Jean have.
Neil has a list:
1) Kevin and Neil can both speak French (Even if Kevin is on a French ban at the moment)
2) Kevin and Neil both spent time at the Nest with Jean (Kevin for longer, Neil more... trauma-forward)

James didn’t immediately respond, instead he pressed his fingers into his eyes, then stared defeatedly up at his ceiling. Kevin waited patiently for him. He knew he should tell him, but it took him a second longer than anticipated to get the words out.
“You’ve been invited to the family holiday,” he eventually revealed.
He felt Kevin still above him, and cautiously averted his gaze to the other man. He was sitting up now, and James felt a slight chill at the loss of his body heat. Kevin’s gaze was heavy and contemplative. He looked almost lost as he stared down at the coffee table, eyes unfocused.

What starts as a sweet gesture to take their relationship to the next level sets in motion a downward spiral of ugly truths coming to light.
