“Power hungry,” said Owen, without any hesitation this time. “Ambitious, prideful—with a sense of superiority and a lust to enforce it.”
“You say just the sweetest things.” Scott’s honeyed voice somehow managed to portray both amused flattery and a sharp warning.

Scott watches as the self proclaimed “vampire hunter” shoots nervous glances behind himself, then towards the bridge ahead. Avid finally appears to make up his mind and apprehensively starts to walk across, though still throwing a few quick glances around after nearly every step.
How cute. He really thinks he stands a chance.
