He doesn’t even bother to finish his sentence; what could he possibly offer that would ever be enough to assuage Keith’s fears? Reassurance, maybe. He could list all the things he’s done right as the black paladin, assure him he’s a better leader than he thinks, start backing him up in his decisions and be the red paladin he deserves.
It won’t be enough. Nothing Lance could give him will ever be enough.
“Actually, there is something.”
Lance’s gaze snaps up to meet Keith’s. There’s something different in his expression now—less hopeless, more… contemplative—and Lance’s heart swells so quickly with hope, it’s painful.
Without breaking his gaze, Keith calls up his bayard and extends it toward Lance. “You be the black paladin.”

"What?" Keith had the audacity to ask.
"You- you said you never kissed or made out with anyone!"
"Yeah, I haven't."
"Then why the hell did you just make out with me like you're a pro?!" Lance squawked, knowing full well that Keith was staring at his face this time around because his entire face was probably turning bright red by the second. (Lance would know; he could feel his cheeks heating up in real time.
The red paladin looked pretty pleased by the sight.)
With a smug, somewhat lop-sided grin, Keith answered: "Guess I'm just a great visual learner. A genius, maybe."
or literally the start of every fwb klance (except Lance thought 'making out' was a great birthday present, and Shiro set them up because he's a good brother looking out for his little brother. Maybe. Possibly. Perchance.)

Summary
He slowed down as he stared at the backs of the rest of the paladins. None of them notice that he stopped following. Lance always chased after him, them. Falling and failing to keep up, yet he always got back up. He always got back up, but not this time. This time Lance chooses to stay down.
After the final battle against Haggar, the war was finally won. Parades were held across the universe to celebrate, but the work of a Paladin never ends. As the remaining Paladins return to the Altean Colony, they come across information that puts together what really happened to Lance and maybe find a way to save him.

Just don't stare, and just act like everything is normal.
Lance mustered up his most normal ‘I am totally not thinking of sweeping Keith off his feet just because he's a girl now’ face before he spoke as casually as possible.
(His breath may have caught a little in his throat when he made eye contact with Keith, but it didn't happen as long as he didn't acknowledge it.)
“So. Do you prefer to go by he/him or she/her now? Oh, but maybe you would prefer to go by my/mine?”

Not a muscle on Keith's face twitched.

“What the fu-?” Keith had started to say, only to be cut off by Pidge deadpanning something along the lines of ‘that was painful to watch’ while Hunk defended Lance's honour with a sheepish ‘that's not his best line really’.
or to secure an alliance, Keith ended up alternating between being a girl and a boy for some time. It was a change of perspective for a certain someone. (Why does it take seeing girl Keith for Lance to see just how beautiful Keith himself is?)

The built up tension in his hand loosened, the pen falling to the desk with some speed. He hated writing letters. Why was he doing this? He hadn't talked to Lance in years, why start now? The Blades and Coalition did ask him to attempt to get Lance to come back, but that didn't mean write a letter.
He knew why he wanted to write it as a letter instead of just an email; the hope of getting something back, a small A4 lined sheet with Lance's beautifully cursive handwriting decorating the page. He'd come to recognise every instance of it. His own signature, his little notes in the logbooks, the handwritten recommendations on the recipes he'd sent him from New Altea.
Keith hated how much he yearned to talk to him, to see him, to hold him in his arms. He hated how willing he was to walk through fire just to see him smile, how willing he was to lay down his life for him if it meant he'd live on happily.

With Galran revolutionaries on the rise and crafting a mysterious new weapon, the paladins are yet again forced into a war that isn't their own, their only hope being a small sliver of signal coming from the lions near the end of the universe.

In the present, the Galra Empire's path of conquest and search for Voltron has led them to Earth's solar system. However, when great threats to the universe arise, the lions (for the first time since their creation) call upon their paladins: a hyperactive Altean, a kind Balmeran/Human, a nerdy Olkarian, an impatient Galra/Human, and a Human who sees the good in people.
I wrote this with my sister two years ago. We decided to translate it into English, and both my sister and I are eager to continue writing the fic!
