"Not long. A few weeks." he answered cautiously. Mickey stood motionless at the sink. Gripping the countertop. White knuckles. It was self-protection. Ian knew that Mickey was going into protection mode. Tried not to show any emotions because he was afraid of getting hurt.
"How long, Ian." He asked more forcefully. Why did he even want to know? Did it matter? Was he a masochist? Did he have to dig into this wound until it bled again? Why did he ask Ian if he didn't want to know the answer? Ian watched the next drop as it ran down and collected on the table with the others.
"I don't know yet."// Or Ian is called to his next overseas mission and has to leave Mickey behind again until he almost saves another soldier's life.

"How long, Ian?" He would ask one last time before he freaked out. He only had this chance. And he knew it.
"Twelve weeks. Maybe longer." Mickey nodded and watched the crumbs being pulled down the drain by the whirlpool. He felt like one of those crumbs. A single crumb being pulled down the drain by a whirlpool of dirty water. It was just like last time. And Ian knew it.
"When?" he finally asked as he began to dry the plates. He couldn't look at him. Not yet.
"Tomorrow," and it was no more than a whisper.//

In 2015, Mickey is struggling to hold himself together between two life shattering diagnosises. Ian is bipolar, they knew that. He's pregnant. He kinda knew that too. Ian isn't who he was, and he's definitely not what Mickey needs anymore, but he's going to hold on as long as he fucking can anyways.
In 2020, Mickey is holding his little family together. He was not expecting to see Ian again, at least not for another three years after he burned down a fucking van. When he runs into Ian at the grocery store, he's not sure what that will do to the careful balance he's created for his son.

Gallaghers. What if there were 7 of them, instead of 6? This is my twist on the series shameless, some things will follow the real story, but most things will be in different order. The story will take place in the POV of Elizabeth/Eliza Gallagher, Ian Gallagher's twin sister.
If you've never seen the show shameless but are still interested in the story, here's a little bit of background!
The Gallaghers live in the south side of Chicago, which is the hood of the area. Violence, robbery, drunks, and addicts roam the streets. Fiona, the oldest sister, has taken care of her younger siblings from a young age due to a bipolar addict mother who left them and an alcoholic addict father who doesn't support them.
In age order, here's the Gallaghers (not including my fan-made character Elizabeth. This is the age the characters will be in my story)
