This story is intended to be a reimagining of the Shakespearian play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” but set in Dublin, Ireland, in the summer of 1997. If you're familiar with the play it's based on, you'll know the main plot, but this version includes several changes.

The shade of brown in her eyes couldn't be matched with Helena's paint; dirt-brown, autumn-leaves brown, rich tones of hot chocolate brown. None of them matched. In "A Midsummer Night's Dream" the four young lovers are by Oberon's command and Puck's hand put under the effects of a love potion, this is reversed for all but Demetrius. Demetrius is unknowingly manipulated into a loveless marriage, but what happens if his spell was finally lifted and he woke to his reality? Following the expansion of the city lines of Athens over time the flowers that once powered the love spells has gone into extinction by deforestation, the spell is no longer potent enough to blind Demetrius.

A beloved halfling, NuNew is kidnapped the night of his human mother's death and is rescued four years later and taken to the Fairy Realm to start a new life. He lives in isolation for 50 years as an apprentice until he is summoned back to court in time for his transition to his secondary gender and all hell breaks loose. Separated from his master the elfling imprints on the wrong alpha and is almost mated.
Decades pass and King Oberon and Queen Titania, joint rulers of the elves, have been at each other's throats over the beautiful and rare healer, NuNew. Titania has a mate selected for him and refuses to give him to Oberon to be mated with the Alpha he imprinted on. Oberon's son, Prince Zee.
When the pair of lovers are discovered by the queen, she plans to force NuNew to mate with her son Prince Park. King Oberon, and his court have 24 hours in which to save NuNew from an irrevocable mating. The plan? Involves a flower enchanted by Cupid's bow, a kidnapping, a forest beast, and some blackmail. What could possibly go wrong?
