Summary
Beast!Dazai wakes up after his suicide in a doctor's office. He remembers jumping from the building and he recalls the sharp pain that disappeared immediately once he hit the ground, but now he feels fine, if anything a little stiff. Dazai died in beast but was sent to another world that lacked their own Dazai.
He wakes in Yosano’s office and joins the ADA, but as things come up and he knows how to effectively deal with them quickly and efficiently the ADA starts to question what Dazai’s ability really is, and Dazai has to face his past in Beast and his previous role as the Port Mafia Boss.

Kinda self indulgent Beast fic about how Beastzai is overall just depressing. I enjoyed the beauty of Beast and wanted to write in more detail of the impact of many of the characters actions while including some moments not included in the story itself.
I tried making this canon. My writing isn't rly engaging so sorry if it's a boring read.
Inspired by how Dazai literally gave up on maintaining a good relationship with people in Beast. They're the lemons that he gave up on and chose to chop out of his life. (The title was literally inspired off my aunt motivating herself after losing in uno but we don't judge)

There was an uproar in the agency. You couldn’t distinguish any single voice amongst the cacophony. Everybody was screaming over each other, and Dazai felt like his ear drums might burst.
There was an open envelope and letter discarded on the floor. The letter, which was crumpled and had a few rips at the edge, was being stepped on carelessly by the detectives.
It read ‘I know who has the Book -Fyodor Dostoevsky’.

Dazai Osamu did not remember dying, but knew very well that he was dead. Dead as a doornail, dead as a dodo, dead as, well, a dead man. In short, he was dead.
And maybe you’re wondering how he knew, and maybe the first clue was the large part of his torso that looked like it had been sliced with a cookie cutter.
Perhaps the next thing that prompted him towards this conclusion was that when he looked down, there was a body that looked eerily like him.
Also, there was a lot of blood. On both of them.

Edit: In my unprofessional author opinion, this fic sucks. i'm generally more part of the fanart-orientated-creation section of fandom. still, I'm going to use it as jumping ground to improve however because no matter how terrible and incomplete this fic is. it is MY baby.

Dazai took another puff of nicotine. “Remember our safe word?”, probed with insulting nonchalance, as if not affected by any of this. He eased out all the way, curled fingers around Fyodor’s neck and coaxed spine into arching to the point of aching; clasped throat so tightly vision swoon for a moment.
Blistering stinging on nape made Fyodor flinch; as a reflex perhaps, body was too numb to feel pain any longer. Thumb pressed over Adam apple, subtly warned against making any sound. It took Fyodor’s vertiginous mind a moment to figure cigarette was doused on skin. “Ah right…”, Dazai sniggered; rammed back inside with such force Fyodor almost toppled.
Instinct kicked in. He frantically flexed arms in tire attempt to break the chains; in vain, iron refused to yield. Magnitude of desperation spurred Dazai on. With another sadistic chuckle he leaned over and needled silkily right into Fyodor’s ear – “I never gave you any”
In which Dazai got hold of the Book and uses all power he now holds over Fyodor to beat him into submission.

The first change happens when Dazai gets sick. That hardly changes anything right? Wrong. That changes everything. And then came the dreams; there were two but each had their meaning.
In the first, Dazai finds himself in a white, eerily silent room, face to face with an older version of himself. Yep, talk about confronting your own future. But Older Dazai isn't there to just shoot the breeze; he's got warnings to deliver, mistakes to correct, and some cryptic advice that's about as clear as mud.
And just when you think dreams couldn't get any weirder, in the second one, Dazai's spilling his guts about mortality to a snoozing Chuuya. Romantic? Maybe. Super awkward? Definitely. (The worst part is that it wasn't a dream.)
"It'll be the best date of your life, you'll see."
A grin stretched on Chuuya's face. "But first, give me my wine."This is based on a C.Ai conversation so don't ask how Dazai decided he didn't want to be sick anymore-

He'd failed Dazai, because he'd been a coward-just as the man said. And the image in his mind of that look he'd received shamed Atsushi so completely that the mere thought of ever disappointing Dazai again became excruciatingly unbearable to him.
After that fateful day, Atsushi swore to himself that he'd never fail Dazai again. With the endless opportunities he was afforded to prove himself after having made this unforgivable mistake, Atsushi devoted his every waking moment to doing everything within his power to aligning himself entirely with this philosophy. This principle that Dazai had presented to him. The idea the man had placed in his mind, that he could override and rid himself of his cowardice and fear with fear. So, from that moment on, Atsushi became what he feared most.
Pain.
Suffering.
...death...
And-just as he'd promised-Atsushi never again turned his back on Dazai, or anything that Dazai demanded of him. Because no one else cared about Atsushi the way that Dazai did.
Because Dazai Osamu was a good man-and had saved Atsushi from himself.
