Summary
With his weapon at the ready and his senses stretched to their limit, he searches for his prey. Another silent step forward. He scans the tree line, and his eyes catch on the fluttering wings of a songbird.
Like a mantra he’s repeated a hundred times, he reminds himself, Cal Kestis is not to be underestimated.
“Boba,” A teasing voice echoes from the shadows, and Boba curses vehemently under his breath, “Thirty-two times, Boba. When are you going to learn you can’t sneak up on me?”
He glares at the mage as he emerges into the light with that cocky grin of his, “Thirty-one. Niamos doesn’t count.”
“Sure it does. You would have drowned without me.” Cal lazily spins one of his swords, the indigo and blue tinted metal gleaming in the pale early morning sunlight, “I’m still waiting for a thank you.”

Cere shakes her head again, lowering her hands to her lap and lacing her fingers together. “I’m… not sure. Could be nothing.”
“Cere, if you really think this is a trap –”
“It’s not that,” she says. “It’s – a feeling of foreboding. I’m not sure if it’s this job or something else. Like I said, it might be nothing.” She shoots Cal a ghost of a smile. “Might be Greez’s kath shank.”
“Hey, have I ever given any of you food poisoning?” Greez bustles past them on his way to the navicomputer. “I think not!”
(Middle-aged schoolteachers would probably make terrifying Inquisitors, so the Mantis crew attempts to break a Force-sensitive woman out of prison before the Empire finds out her secret. It ends poorly. They try to pick up the pieces, afterwards... which would be easier if they didn’t need to leave a piece behind.)

However, Cere and Merrin may have accidentally found Bode and Cal’s way out.
This is set in an AU where the events of Fallen Order happened over the course of a slightly longer period of time, giving, in particular, time for Cal and Merrin’s relationship to grow before the confrontation with Trilla (and Darth Vader) on Nur. As a result of the altered events on Nur, the events of Jedi: Survivor are altered in this AU to fit the characters of Cere, Merrin and Greez without Cal in their dynamic.
