“What’s this?” Roshan asked, her voice low.
“I found it stuck in a small alleyway. It’s addressed to you, from someone called ‘A’.”
The note is snatched from his hands so quick it takes Basim a moment before he realises its gone. Her eyes are glued to the note, reading the text so fast that Basim can only stare. She folds the note with an air of delicacy and then slowly turns towards Basim. Curiosity burns at the forefront of his mind as he waits for her to tell him what the letter really contained.

“Hang on.” Rebekah murmurs. “Let me light some of the torches.”
Basim can hear her move around, her hands tapping against the bench as she tries to figure out where she’s going. He breathes a sigh of relief as the room is suddenly flooded with warm light. He blinks, looking around and there, in the centre of the floor, lies the disc. It’s closed again, no light shining from its cracks, sitting shock still next to what Basim realises is a child.

He can only close his eyes as he feels himself falling, knowing it’s going to do a number on his back and more importantly, embarrassing himself when the news somehow makes its way back to Rebekah. She’d never let him live this down.
Except he doesn’t fall. A pair of hands clasp the front of his robes and his eyes snap open. Roshan is looking down at him with disapproval before she hauls him upright, feet steady on the buildings top.
“What were you thinking Basim? Sneaking up on me, you should know better by now.”
