Summary
The first time he met that man he had only joined the clan a week prior. With eyes and hair as dark as the tattoos that stained Hong Lu’s body, he sliced through some new members as though they were made from wet paper. But Hong Lu was far from an easy target. They clashed violently, lighting the battlefield with flashes of sunlight caught by their blades. Neither man could land a blow, only nicking each other's clothes or slicing off a few strands of hair. Eventually, both their bodies ached with fatigue, and they silently called a truce.
Hong Lu thought of that man even outside of the battlefield. His movements were as fluid as water itself. He wondered if he unknowingly looked at him the same way Heathcliff did right before their lips met in a heated frenzy.

Ivan laughs without a smile as he feels the sharp pain of his nails digging into his own palms, tensing his body as he remembers the moment that he and Till had rolled on the grass, grabbing each other's clothes, throwing punches and scratches as they tried to get on top of each other. He still has fresh in his memory Till’s whine of effort slightly tinged with tears and the crystallized gaze full of fire that pierced his face.
It's in those moments that Ivan feels noticed, that Till has no choice but to look at him and only at him, and nothing else. It's at that moment that he feels like Till belongs to him.

Ivan is attacked by the feelings that Till awakens in him, even if he feels like he's drowning in the dark tar that floods his chest he doesn't want to leave or give up on Till who becomes the reason for his own existence. After a brief glimpse of how that same feeling is constant in his chest no matter what reality they are destined, Ivan returns to face the moment when he'll make the decision that will change his existence and open a new path of happiness, just not for him.
It's a somewhat exploratory fic on a very particular aspect of Ivan's way of loving. It isn't an analysis.
