Summary

Summary
For the longest time, Douma lacked the awareness to fully understand the kind of world he was occupying. There were the adults that came to him crying, and there were the commands and soft suggestions his mother whispered into his ear to help them feel better. It must have been an elaborate sort of game he had been playing, and everyone played their part frighteningly well.
For a four year old, the words felt heavy, clumsy, and unfamiliar on his tongue. Most days, he stays silent and cries.
He hadn't known it, but this would be a game he would be playing for a very long time.

Akaza just kept staring at him, one hand still braced on the doorway, dumbfounded at the sight before him. He knows things had been difficult, sure, which was to say Douma didn't attend their meetings so frequently anymore. No one said anything of course, but it was probably the world's worst kept secret that Douma had issues with his parents, even if no one could ever pry anything from him.
