It all started with a photo
A citizen found famous model Adrien Agreste kissing Paris’ resident superhero Ladybug on an alleyway just before that day’s akuma, and published it in all their media accounts
The image quickly spread like wildfire all over the internet, with everyone in the city devouring this new source of gossip like hungry dogs. But most importantly, it reached the Agrestes
Which lead Adrien to this exact situation…
"How long have you been dating that girl?" His father demanded to know, while the younger Agreste looked at the ground unable to look at the man in the eye
Because he knew that he was glaring at him with disappointment and cold fury
"Ever since the Gorizilla incident…" Adrien muttered in response, unable to lie to his father even without the intervention of certain ring
"You’ve been with that girl for so long behind my back?!" Gabriel snapped, making his son flinch at his outburst "Don’t you see the danger she puts you in?! With all the akumas after her Miraculous, just being around her constantly puts you at risk!"
"Please Father! I know our relationship isn’t the most common one, but we love each other!" Adrien pleaded, finally looking at his father with tearful eyes
And that proved to be a mistake, as if looks could kill Adrien would already be buried ten feet under
"I will have none of that!" Gabriel said coldly, fidgeting with his ring behind his back "Adrien as your father, I order you to stay away from Ladybug. Am I understood?"
Adrien nodded, despite feeling like screaming on the inside and his eyes overflowing with tears
Moments later, after walking dejectedly to his room with a heavy heart, after shutting the door behind him he finally allowed himself to crumble. Curling himself into a ball against the door, he buried his face into his legs
Adrien make sure not to wail too loudly however, knowing it would just make his father even more angry. An Agreste is never supposed to be so sensitive about things, they must always endure things with professionalism
It was the motto that was hammered onto him ever since he could remember, even before his mom died. If his father saw him like that, he will be punished again for wailing like a baby when he was almost sixteen
Interrupting his pity party, a soft knock on his window got his attention. Lifting his tearful face up, he saw a concerned Ladybug on his window
"Adrien…" His lady said, face scrunching with worry "I saw your conversation with your father earlier. Can I come in…?"
He wanted nothing but to feel her touch right now, embrace her, tell her how much he loved her and how he never wanted to let her go. But as if a chain was wrapped tightly around his neck, he was planted on his place
"I…c-can’t" Adrien stuttered, making Ladybug look even more worried "I-It’s not you, it’s me. I just can’t seem to disobey my father, no matter how much I want to"
"Has it always been this way..? Has he always been this way?" His lady asked quietly and he nodded sadly
"Ever since I can remember…" He whispered his answer with a dejected shrug
The two stayed in a silence that neither of them enjoyed, and although Adrien still wished he could hold his lady on his arms and never let her go, just having her presence was enough to make him feel slightly more happy, or at least content, with this situation
"Adrien, when your father gave you the order to stay away from me, I saw him do something…" Ladybug said after what seemed like an uncomfortable eternity "With his ring, I mean"
"His and mom’s wedding ring?" He asked "Yeah, I saw him do it a few times. I think it’s a nervous tic of his, why do you ask?"
"Because I think it’s way more than that, Adrien…" Ladybug whispered, confusing him. Especially with that forlorn expression she had one she said that
And against everything he had ever thought or expected of her, she started to swing her yo-yo out of nowhere. Not only that, but she actually used it to break the glass of his window!
Her, Ladybug, his Lady, the most amazing girl he’s ever known, Paris’ beloved superhero actually broke his window to break into his room!!
And in all honesty, Adrien was actually glad she did
"Ladybug?" He asked once his lady crouched down to his fetal position and gave him a large hug, chaining him in place
And despite what his mind said and heart enjoying her warm embrace, his body still acted on itself and tried to pry away from her grasp, trying to fulfill the orders his father gave to him. And every time it tried to do so, his Lady would hug him even harder
"I love you, Adrien" Ladybug told him, holding him in place as she kissed his cheek "I will always love you, and no matter what you father or anyone else says I won’t let anyone take us apart"
"Thank you, M’lady" He said happily, tears of joy now falling from his forest green eyes and a big thankful smile on his face
Maybe it was a good thing that Adrien’s body wasn’t being compliant, because if it was, he’d kiss her so hard until they both turned blue to show her just how much he loved her back
