Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Philza Minecraft was not a bad man. He chased after pickpockets, helped children find their parents, saved cats from trees. He tried his best to be a good person. But he wasn't all that great of a father. He was a hybrid and could barely keep himself fed while paying the bills let alone three orphan children whom he found on the street. He tried his best even with his five jobs, tried to give them as much attention and toys as possible but they still felt neglected. So when the oldest was eighteen, they left, taking Philza's heart with them.

He was so so sad after that, fell into a depressive state that affected how he was at work, and was fired from his jobs one by one. Phil was evicted from not being able to pay his bills and after a bad incident with a Hybrid Racist he was forced to leave the Dreamssempii.

Hybrids were disliked or hated everywhere. If they weren't a Hero, they were a freak.

He traveled to L'manburg and had to move into the slums. And of course Phil had to get multiple jobs once more since the pay was a cheap and a total rip-off of his hard-earned labor, but he did it and was able to afford a apartment with running water, air conditioning, and heat. But he was a hybrid so what do you expect?

Hybrids aren't human and shouldn't be treated as such, unless they were a hero of course.

'Hybrids are monsters' and 'shouldn't even be in the city to begin with' or so people say. Hybrids are treated with almost zero respect and are often given pay cuts from their jobs and are always blamed for illegal activities even though the person had no clue what they were even getting arrested for.

Phil tried getting a house and job in the nicer districts.

It's safe to say that that didn't work out.

He was immediately arrested, the owner of the shop saying that he was trying to threaten her and steal from the shop, which he was certainly not. He had to spend the last of his money on a bail.

Phil had gotten so used to needing and striving to protect and care for another that with no one to motivate him to continue trying his best he felt empty and broken,

He was an 'old man', he was 'senile', and he was 'not in his time', he'd 'lived his life' and needed to 'move on and go into retirement'. People told him to leave their stores and shops saying that he needed to let the younger people have a chance and give them experience for their adult lives. They said he should go home and relax.

WELL HE CAN'T DO THAT IF HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY MONEY!

And......there was so much crime in the poorer districts and so many people needed a hero or someone to help them but all of the police didn't care at all and the 'official' heroes were in the cleaner and richer parts of the city getting more famous and earning loads of money that they would never need.
Someone needed to do something about it.

So Philza took up vigil-anteing,

It gave him purpose again, to help those in need, to save children from fires and disasters and give them a chance at life. Protecting young men and women from those who wanted to use and twist their bodies before killing them and throwing them into the garbage like a broken doll. (You would not believe how many kidnappings and attempted rapes he's stopped in just the last month alone.)

It felt nice to help those who couldn't help themselves or were too afraid to get in trouble.

Then someone who he had gotten arrested escaped prison and snitched on his patrol routes. He barely managed to escape the heroes and police that night. After that happened, three more people snitched on him, revealing who his vigilante persona talked to the most and where he usually hung out.

He stopped being a vigilante then.

If people were going to continue getting out of prison and doing bad things, if not worse stuff, all over again why bother letting those people continue?

Wouldn't it be better if they weren't there at all?

Wouldn't it be better if they were dead?

So he became a villain; a villain who killed villains and criminals alike, protecting the innocent and vigilantes that crossed his path.

Philza became the Crow Father.

Philza upped his training, started stealing, and giving himself bigger challenges, starting to get attention from the bigger heroes, villains, and vigilantes.

He became an Anti-hero.

And god damn he would be lying if he said that he didn't love it.

Of course now he had a decent amount of money from all the stealing he was doing. He was able to afford better equipment and first aid.

He's going to rob a bank tomorrow.

Give half of it to charity and save half for himself.

Phil had become friends with Bad and Skeppy a while back at a cute café and they continued meeting up there. When they found out about his job predicament they offered him a job as an intern at their work place which he immediately agreed to.

He hadn't known it was Hero HQ though.

He was in for one hell of a ride.
